If you want to really see Sydney sparkle, catch a ferry from Manly wharf into Circular Quay or another foreshore location. You can take the slow ferry and enjoy the ride, or pay a little more for the fast ferry to get there in 20 minutes. Circular Quay is just near the Opera House, Botanical Gardens and The Rocks so an excellent place to explore the city.

What to pack
Sydney weather
Sydney is a temperate region with hot summers and mild winters. The weather can be unpredictable and change quickly so be prepared!
In summer the days may be hot and humid but if a "Southerly change" arrives, the temperature drops and you will need a jumper or coat in the evening. A thunderstorm often follows extremely hot days (called "scorchers" by locals). On really hot days, the apartment can be cooled down by opening the bedroom windows AND the lounge sliding doors...this will capture the cross breeze.
Best to pack a mixture of cool and warm clothes with good walking shoes.

Surf report
Be super attentive to the lifeguard's instructions if you're swimming. Aussie surf can be very rough and pull inexperienced swimmers out to sea so make sure you swim between the red and yellow flags.
If you're looking for a good surf break, check out surfline for current conditions and surfcam.
