Parks & Nature

2 Miles up Lake St, from my house is an amazing hiking trail with switchbacks leading 2.8 miles up Echo Mountain to the remnants of an historic hotel built in 1894. You will be scratching your head as to how they ever built anything at the top of this mountain. http://www.hike-losangeles.com/echo-mountain-hike.html

The Huntington has the most beautiful gardens...12 gardens actually, with 1500 plant varieties. Inside the library is a beautiful art collection (650 Paintings, 440 works of sculpture), not too mention the events, music, classes and you can even make reservations for the Tea Room if you get hungry and would like tea & a bite. http://www.huntington.org/

I love this restaurant! off the beaten path, street parking, interesting menu that changes frequently. If you want something unique and tasty this is the spot. You may think it's closed however with sign-less entrance and it's blacked out windows. Don't be deceived. http://www.altaeats.com/

Shopping

Colorado Boulevard is famous for the Rose Bowl Parade at New Years, but the rest of the year it is a shopping and dining haven for the locals and visitors to our historic town. Tons of restaurants, bars, shopping in major department stores as well as boutiques. Lots of scheduled music throughout the spring, summer and fall.
