Mestre is the residential area of Venice. Marghera Catene ,where our bnb is located, is part of Mestre. U can reach Mestre from the bnb with bus number 3 . It s a commercial town, lot of shops, bar,restaurants and a small but nice center where u can walk and enjoy a drink. There s also a big market on wed and friday morning.

It s the heart of Venice where the main attractions are located. Basilica, dogi palace (palazzo ducale) with the amazing prisons, and the campanile (belltower) for panoramic view. Consider that the amazing bar in san marco square are expensive if u take a seat . It worths, but don’t think it will be cheap😅

Getting around
Bus 6 or 66 easiest way to reach venice! Not by car
Bus every 15/20 min from early morning until night 7 days a week. bus 1.50 at tobacconist or 3 euro on the bus. Day passes(24hours-48-72 ) cheapest way if u want to use buses and waterbuses in Venice (unlimited travels) ,also for the islands Murano and Burano. Day passes available online (actv website) or at tobacconist (closest one is at the end of out street,on the right,walking 5 min). Dont go to venice by car,it will be very expensive for parking. Leave the car in our free parking and take the bus

Ways to save
Waterbus (vaporetto) single ticket is quite expensive
If u want to take waterbus in Venice i suggest u to purchase daily passes for unlimited travels (bus+waterbus )

Museum in venice
It s better and can avoid u long queues, to buy museum passes online … there are also combination for several museum in the same pass

Venice is a city that requests walking, so bring sport shoes with you😃 other tip: dont bring umbrella, we have it in the bnb!
