The market was a place where people could buy fruits, vegetables, meat, and much more. Today, during the day it functions as a market with some restaurants open. At night, starting at 6:00 pm, the famous Placita de Santurce comes to life in full. You will find renowned restaurants and local kiosks that sell fried foods such as empanadillas, alcapurrias, and bacalaítos. The atmosphere is more lively from Thursday to Sunday when the locals gather here to hang out, have drinks, and dance salsa.
