Arts & Culture

Dover Castle is run by English Heritage. It has a phenomenal amount of history linked to it and commands a splendid view of town and port, perched atop the white cliffs. It has featured in a number of cities recently including Dunkirk and Churchill. Castle buildings are intact and there are extensive cliff modifications reflecting the site's strategic importance in World War II.

'King's Wood is 588 hectares of mixed conifer and broadleaf woodland. It is defined as PAWS (plantation on ancient woodland site), which means it has been under woodland cover since 1600. It is a stronghold for sweet chestnut coppicing in Kent and home of the SVCP (Stour Valley Creative Partnership).' We like it because it's off the beaten trail and excellent if you have dogs.
