Places to stay in Walkerville
Spindrift Cottage is cosy and sheltered with a covered deck offering great ocean views across to Wilsons Promontory plus direct beach access to magical Waratah Bay beach with its fascinating rock pools and caves to explore. The cottage can sleep five with one bedroom plus a curtained area with a bunk with double and single bed configuration as the photos show.
Spindrift Cottage is surrounded by Cape Liptrap Coastal Park so the native wildlife does visit at times.
You can walk 200 metres along the beach to the old lime kilns, which together with the landscape of Waratah Bay have been classified by the National Trust. Wilsons Promontory is and easy drive. Fish Creek and Foster offer great art and coffee places to visit.
  • Sue has a wonderful cottage in a real slice of paradise. The views are fantastic and the cottage has everything that you need for a comfortable stay with lovely touches such as a coffee machine and binoculars! Highly recommended - we will definitely be back!

  • A great location and a very comfortable small dwelling with fantastic views. Enjoy fresh morning coffee - be your own barista with the coffee machine provided - on the outdoor deck while looking for seals, dolphins or watching the friendly crimson rosellas.

  • We loved our stay here. The views are amazing. Cozy and clean! Make sure you go to Cape Liptrap for the stunning views!

  • Perfect location to explore the wonders of Walkerville - very quiet, very comfortable.

    Kate2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was so lovely! From the incredibly stunning setting—both to the sea and the bush—our family of 5 loved every minute. Every day we went hiking in The Prom after cooking breakfast, walking the beach and feeding the beautiful galas and parrots that visit the verandah. We aren’t even bird people but we absolutely fell in love with them during our stay. Our three girls 9, 12, and 16 loved the bunk book in the living room, but bring some mozzie spray because they love that nook too. The beds were al comfortable and the linens and pillows were great as well. We cooked each night as well and found everything we needed to make proper meals in the well-equipped kitchen. We made tea at sunset and carried it back down to the beach and just took in the view. Walkerville seems to me a little-known gem for sure and we would be happy to come back and stay at Sue’s again and again! Every room but the bathroom has an exquisite view of the ocean and one just can’t get enough! Thx again Sue for sharing this little beauty with us!

  • Most incredible position and completely relaxing surrounds. Will definitely stay again!

  • Location location location! Right opposite to the beach and about 30 mins from Wilson's Promontory. Very well located and the only sound heard is of the waves and birds.

Muir Lan (Gaelic for high tide) is nestled among natural bush only 50 metres from the beach, and offers a peaceful and relaxed environment with spectacular views.
Muir Lan is one of the original beach cottages built along Walkerville North beach. Constructed in 1956 by my grandparents, it was built as a holiday/retirement cottage. This is our happy place; peaceful, relaxed and we love to share it with like minded guests. Wake to the sound of surf and take in the breathtaking views of Waratah Bay and Wilson's Promontory while eating breakfast on the deck. For the more actively inclined, swim, paddle, boat, don snorkling gear and head for the rock pools, cast a fishing line, walk through the bushland observing the varied native wildlife, or soak in some history as you explore the limestone kilns set into the rugged coastline.
Walkerville is a very small community. Houses are on tank water and septic systems, and there is no rubbish collection. Guests should come prepared with all food and supplies as closest convenience shops and cafes are approx 20 min drive away in Tarwin Lower, Fish Creek and Sandy Point. There is a kiosk at the local caravan park, but it has limited hours of operation outside the main summer holiday period. Guests are also asked to please take all rubbish away with them. Walkerville Transfer Station on Fish Creek Walkerville Rd is open Wed and Sat mornings, and Mon, Sun and public holidays afternoons.
  • Such an amazing little piece of paradise! Didn’t want to leave. Great location and views

  • Gorgeous part of the world!

    Lucille2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very comfortable and pleasant, with good drinking water, light, and space. There are good amenities - fridge, stove, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The location is good - not far from the beach. There is a view of the beach from the house (between the trees).

    Pauline2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful relaxing spot with beautiful view of the beach. The cottage is clean, comfortable with all the amenities needed for a simple, uncomplicated getaway.

    Diana2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is great for a getaway . It’s right on the beach, beautiful view from the deck, lots of beautiful birds in the nearby trees, sparkling clean, had everything we needed (the host even provided a high chair and cot for us). Really recommend.

  • A hidden gem! Can’t get any better for a beach experience!

    Justine2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot and a very cosy, practical and clean house that we would stay in again.

    Naava2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Muir Lan is a lovely beach house dating from the 1950s - clearly a well-used and much loved place. It was absolutely perfect for our visit which was celebrating the birthday of our young grandson with all the family. It started with a pirate treasure hunt and ended with a birthday tea centred around a sandcastle cake. All good fun. Great times on the beach too. There is a very well-equipped kitchen if you fancy cooking while you're there.

Tea Tree Hollow is a sensory experience. Cosseted by the surrounding environment & directly adjacent to a stretch of the most pristine and private coastline in Australia, it is a home to escape, to relax, to indulge. Check insta @ teatreehollow_au for updates
Tea Tree Hollow is a home to lose oneself. The house features an interior of natural materials, referencing the elements: Marble, Timber, Wool, Brass, Bronze. Materials are repeated many times throughout the home, creating a soft, soothing space, to truly relax and retreat. Furniture is soft and embracing, warm and cozy. Custom raw alpaca wool rugs soften the spaces, throws and skins adding depth. Exclusive artwork, selected specifically for the home, takes you to another place. A large sculpture, imported from Venice, rests in the architecture, reaching into the clerestory windows. A fully equipped kitchen & a host of our favourite cookbooks, will keep the budding chef entertained. Crisp tunes are provided by the powerful, wireless Bang & Olufsen music system. Carefully selected fragrances, essential oils, and candles will adapt the space to any situation, and an ever-changing collection of books on nature, design & architecture will while away the hours. A TV/DVD player and range of games should keep boredom at bay. Our latest addition has seen 40sqm of outdoor decking added to the yard, wrapping through the existing plantings. The bathing deck, reached via a floating boardwalk, features a unique privacy screen of timber off-cuts sourced from local yards. A true indulgence, our imported black stone bath, easily generous enough for two, is the ultimate for star gazers whilst our custom brass tap ware will provide a post surf shower. A locally produced stone outdoor table will suit those who like to dine alfresco, and loungers are provided to ensure your tan gets some attention. A native garden wraps the home, offering seclusion, and a lovely play of light as the afternoon sun hits the home. Tea Tree Hollow is a mature, sophisticated retreat, for those who desire quality and relaxation - a home to truly escape to
Walkerville is a small village, on the very edge of some beautiful coastline. However, it does not have shops, so best stock up at one of the major towns on your way through, the closest (and very well stocked) store, is IGA in Tarwin Lower - don’t miss their on site butcher...
  • This is truely one of the best Airbnb homes we have ever stayed in. The hosts have really put so much thought into creating the perfect getaway. A very stylish design and gorgeous soft furnishings. Dan gave us so many great ideas for days out, their home is situated near some beautiful walks and only a half hour drive from the stunning Wilson’s prom. We had thought we would go out for dinner whilst there but as the house is so relaxing, we decided to rather stay put and have a soak in the outdoor bath, followed by a bbq. We can’t wait to visit again soon. Thank you for a wonderful weekend away.

  • A magic spot in a superb location. Can’t wait to come back...

  • Beautiful little cottage. We loved relaxing in the outdoor tub and even spotted a kangaroo in a neighboring field.

  • Gorgeous little getaway from the city. We very much enjoyed all the art work and the quaint, relaxing space that is Tea Tree Hallow. The out door bathing deck is delightful. Dan was very helpful and informative before our stay, would highly recommend.

We have a lovely newly renovated beach side unit available at Walkerville North. The unit is self contained with kitchen and bathroom facilities. The unit has a magnificent view over looking Wilsons Promontory and Waratah Bay. The unit is located only 50 metres from the beach, with great swimming spots and nature walks to keep you busy.

  • Expect to be spoilt rotten at My Cup of Tea. Stunning views to the Prom, sunrises from your bedroom window, the best stocked kitchen I’ve ever seen in a holiday rental, everything has been thought of to make our stay comfortable, and even our dogs felt well cared for!! Thank you for providing the perfect beach holiday

    Jacquie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We love this place. Being that close to the ocean in such a remote beautiful spot is so special. My Cup of Tea is a special place that forces us to slow down and enjoy quality family time. It is wonderfully decorated, extremely comfortable and perfectly situated. We cant wait to come back (again!).

    Jess2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This home is exactly as described, and better. It is truly cosy and comfortable when the weather is cold, and a wonderful, open-plan, indoor/outdoor home when it’s hot. It is stylishly and thoughtfully decorated, and a step away from the beach, in idyllic bushland surrounds. Very quiet, as this area is not highly populated, yet within a short walk to a kiosk selling fish and chips, coffee, and other necessities. The beach has a boat ramp and is a lovely beach for children, with small waves for boogie boarding, rock pools, and rocks to climb over. We have stayed here two years running, with our family and young grandchildren, and it is a perfect summer holiday location.

    Cathy2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful little place. Perfect for a family getaway. The hosts were super thoughtful and left bird feed so we could feed the rosellas each day. The location was amazing and the view of the ocean could be seen from the decking. The beach could also be easily accessed from the little path on the side. Almost felt like you had a little private beach to yourself. The bathrooms were nice and clean and the kitchen was stocked with all your basic needs. All in all, it was a great experience and we’d recommend it to our friends.

    Jay2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, beautiful house on the beach! It deliverers and would love to stay there again.

    Matthew2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay, in a wonderful unspoilt spot. Walkerville is beautiful as there are no shops and hardly any people. Just a stunning beach, walks and views. House has a lovely vibe - modern but connected to the roots of the classic beach house. Comfy with good amenities, wonderful views, birds in the garden and dog friendly. All in all it’s pretty perfect rental.

Architect designed modern spacious home with all the comforts you need to enjoy a relaxing holiday. Large home which is ideal for two families with 3 toilets, 2 main queen bedrooms, 2 kids bedrooms and separate kids living upstairs space. But also intimate for a couple's weekend away with a large north facing master queen bedroom with balcony, walk in robe and ensuite.
This home we designed and built ourselves. We love this house and we hope you do to. Isley is a local architect with her own business and this house was one of her first projects in the area. It has four spacious bedrooms, with a balcony off each upstairs bedroom. There are two queen beds, a tri bunk and two single beds. The house has been designed to maximise comfort, with double glazing, thermal efficiency and modern comforts such as an entertainment system, BBQ, washing machine and fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Air conditioning and a wood fire makes the house perfect for both summer and winter holidays. Relaxing in the claw foot bath with candle light tops off the perfect winter retreat. The roof top deck is three stories up and provides a very unique coastal experience. Sit up there with your morning coffee and catch a glimpse of Waratah Bay change colour as the sun rises. Or at night with a glass of wine while gazing at the stars. It is also an ideal spot to meet the abundant birdlife that Walkerville has to offer. There are a number of separate indoor and outdoor spaces with plenty of room for kids to play. Including an upstairs rumpus room and a great cubby house for entertainment. Off street parking is available which includes enough room to store a boat.
Heaps to do!! From this beach house you can walk through the State Reserve forest down to the beaches of Walkerville North (20mins down the hill). Or it is a short drive to Walkerville South or Walkerville North boat ramp. There are numerous bush walks through the State Reserve forest some to lookouts over Waratah Bay, others access the beach. Other things to experience are Wilson’s Promontory, local wineries, breweries, and towns such as Fish Creek, Sandy Point, Waratah Bay, Foster and Inverloch.
  • We had the most beautiful weekend at Isley’s house. We were three couples and the house was perfect for us. The moment we arrived at the house, we all felt at home. It had everything we needed and much more. This is the second time we’ve been there and we hope to continue coming again and again. Thank you Isley for being a great host. We love your beach house!

  • This is the second time we stayed at Isley & Jamie’s beautiful house and hopefully it’s will not be the last. Even though we had mostly wintry weather, we had a lovely time playing cards and board games in front of the fire or reading on those big comfy couches. The house is extremely spacious and comfortable and has a good kitchen. I really appreciated the new oven. The house is very close to the beach which, even during peak season, is not terribly crowded. Wild life abound: I met my very first echidna! And there’s always a koala (with a baby this time) in the front garden’s gum tree. And if you want to see stars, go up to the top deck on a clear moonless night. We had a fantastic break. Thank you.

  • The house is lovely and modern! Heaps of outside areas to hang around in and the roof top in particular. Great little play area for children also. Rocky beach nearby and Sandy Point is only 15 mins drive away- it’s beautiful there!!

  • Isley and Jamie's home is beautiful and very spacious - recommend for families and groups of 4-6 people. The location is good and we were able to experience a lot of the local attractions. Our main reason for staying in Walkerville was the proximity to the Prom, which was about a 40 minute drive away. We recommend bringing enough food for the duration of the stay as there aren't many supermarkets around that aren't a decent drive away, but there are some great pubs and restaurants in neighbouring towns that are worth a visit if you don't feel like cooking.

Whitehouse Walkerville is an A shaped beach house located on the edge of Waratah Bay. Re cycled and transported to its current location ten years ago, our house is positioned to capture pastoral views and sunsets on a generous deck.
Whitehouse Walkerville is best suited to people who enjoy a minimal, character driven environment. There is a mezzanine bedroom with a queen sized bed and a second bedroom with two single beds. The kitchen is modern well equipped with German appliances including a dishwasher. The living room has two large sofas, TV stereo and a DVD/ media player. Heating is provided by a wood burning stove, cooling is not installed (there are 2 fans available). The bathroom is not modernized however is clean and functional. The laundry is equipped with a front loader and tumble dryer.
Once at Walkerville you have a sense of seclusion and remoteness only two and a half hours from Melbourne. During winter months its not uncommon to have the local beachs to yourself, in Summer they're never crowded. Fish Creek and Tarwin Lower are only 20 minutes away if you forget something or simply want a cafe or pub.
  • We had a great stay at The Whitehouse. It was beautiful, clean and cosy - the perfect place for a relaxing getaway! We especially appreciated the kitchen amenities, DVD collection and fireplace. Thank you Nick and Philip!

  • We absolutely loved the uniqueness of the home - such a gem in a great spot to be based to explore the local area. It was the perfect escape from the city for a week over Christmas/New Years. We’d love to stay again and will definitely recommend it!

  • Nick was great in communication regarding the property and check-in prior to and during our stay, seamlessly making it easy to settle into the property. The property was wonderful and homely, very lovely and tidy with an incredibly cozy fire and all the amenities we needed for a quiet weekend away. The property looked like it’s its listing and we’d highly recommend it.

  • We had an amazing weekend away at Nick's home! The house is really special and beautifully decorated with some really lovely touches. The beds were super comfy, the DVD collection was great, and the deck was perfect to have an afternoon wine and watch the sunset. It's the perfect spot to explore neighbouring beaches like Sandy Point, and closer pockets like South Walkerville. Nick had some great tips for local wineries and walks which we loved. Overall, we had a wonderful weekend and will definitely be back!

  • Gorgeous home. The converted attic bedroom is really special. Floor to ceiling windows afford splendid pastoral views. Also well-equipped and well-situated. Would definitely recommend a stay.

  • Great stay! The place was bigger than we expected and we enjoyed the decor. The view from the deck across the fields was lovely and I already miss that sunset. It was great being able to take our dog along with us too. Nick was really helpful and responded quickly and clearly. Great spot to explore the nearby beaches, countryside and of course Wilson’s Prom.

    Daniel2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house with a cosy and peaceful aspect looking onto rolling hills, sheep and big sky. The house is well appointed kitchen, comfy couches by the wood heater, comfy beds and has stylish character with quirky art and other touches, such as fab old magazine collection. Nick was a generous and great host, quick to communicate and make us feel at home with some lovely arrival touches. The house is great spot from which to explore South Gippsland.

    Linda2018-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very quiet ans unique place to stay- perfecf for those that appreciate a characterful home filled with vintage decor. Nothing about this place is generic which we loved.

Our two-storey timber cabin is nestled amongst native trees, with wildlife (koalas, ringtail possums, echidnas, rosellas etc) often seen. It's only 5 mins drive to the beautiful local beach or about 15 mins to the nearest surf beach. It's comfortable but a little rustic.
The cabin sleeps four (two couples, ideally); one queen-sized bed is a futon (so it's quite firm) and the other queen-sized bed is a spring mattress. The deck (with a gas BBQ) extends on two sides of the house and is a great place to relax. The kitchen is equipped with most of the regular appliances/cookware that you'd need. Steep stairs means that it's not great for little kids and those not agile.
The property has neighbours at the rear and on one side but they have minimal impact on the cabin's privacy. It is situated on a quiet street and the front outlook is rural. Except for a kiosk at the beach's caravan park, there's no shops, grocery stores, cafes, bars etc in Walkerville. Aaah, the serenity! We love that! There's lovely walking tracks and lookouts in the neighbouring Cape Liptrap Coastal Park and a beautiful safe small beach at South Walkerville.
  • Amazing accommodation for our weekend trip to Wilson's Prom. Kate was very quick to respond to my questions. Check in was easy. The place is very clean and I only saw one daddy long legs over the whole weekend contrary to what other reviews said. Great value for the region, don't be deterred by it being rustic. It's just a perfect little cottage.

    Dave2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Kate’s place was great. The space is lovely, with nice little touches and beautiful art. We had everything we needed to spend the weekend there, having a BBQ, and playing board games (we brought our own, but Kate’s got a selection of trivia and puzzles!), in between trips to scenic areas nearby and of course, Wilson’s Prom. It really felt like Kate prepared this space to really let you get in touch with nature, connect with your love ones and enjoy some peace and quiet. Thank you, Kate, for a great stay. We will definitely consider coming back the next time we’re in the area.

    Nick2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place is great. Right next to the beach. With wild birds and koalas in the back yard it's a fantastic escape from the city. It is also an easy drive to Wilson's Prom. Would definitely stay again.

  • We had such a wonderful time. Highlight was the beautiful fireplace and big living room. It was the perfect place for our trip- make sure to read the description as they give you a great understanding of what to expect. Thanks for a lovely weekend house Kate and for checking in to make sure everything is okay while we were there :)

    Mandy2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy home in a beautiful part of Victoria. Kate was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

    Kate2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • My friend visiting from the UK and I found Kate’s little gem of a home to stay in for a few nights whilst visiting Wilson’s Prom and just getting away from the daily grind. Exactly as described, there were some spiders who hung out in the corners but nothing terrifying or deadly! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Black Rabbit, using the BBQ the wood burner and enjoying some beers on the deck and in front of the fire! We saw heaps of wildlife whilst down that end of the world and possums and echidna’s at the property. We had an issue with almost no water when we arrived but was able to communicate this easily to Kate and she replied immediately and had a very handy and helpful neighbour attend the home whilst we were out on a day trip and completely replaced the water pump which choose our arrival date to go to water pump heaven! Communication, consideration and effectiveness was all 100% from Kate. We would love to return to stay at Kate’s and given half a chance I’d probably never have left! Thanks so much Kate!

    Amy2019-02-15T00:00:00Z

This is a getaway for those who enjoy experiencing wildlife and nature in a charming rural setting. It's a handmade house that blends Japanese style architecture with recycled materials to create an absolute of one-of-a-kind place. We fell in love with the quirky place and bought it in 2005, from Jim, who sourced interesting recycled materials and built it pedantically by hand. A combination of his passion, his craftsmanship and interest in energy flow can be felt in the overall result.
Liptrap Loft is our first child and we have owned and managed her for over 12 years. It is a large shack built by hand from recycled timber and tin. Set on five acres, it is surrounded on all sides by bush land, with distant views across neighbouring farm land. You can't see another building, so it is very private, and there is lots of wildlife. The location is quite remote and the house is rustic. It is certainly not for everyone. To see if it will be right for you, check the "WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVE" section below. We love the place, but to get a true feel for Liptrap Loft, read the reviews there's hundreds. HISTORY The house was built by Jim, a man of unusual talents. Some say he was a builder and cabinet maker, others say a piano maker and champion runner - but all agree that he was a pedantic master craftsman. Jim searched the region for a secluded sanctuary in which to build his dream home. For years he was a virtual recluse, living in a tent while he painstakingly sourced recycled materials to build the house that is now Liptrap Loft. He reluctantly sold the house to study architecture at age 50. We came across the place when we were looking for an investment property. We had strict criteria detailed in spreadsheets showing the exact cash flow required for an investment. After searching Melbourne every bumper-to-bumper weekend for months, we were completely uninspired. So we took a weekend away in Gippsland. Some friends said "come and look at this quirky house, you'll like it". Dedication to any financial logic went out the window the first time we saw the Japanese bath house and smelled the woody interior. We fell in love with the place and bought it. They say buying property on emotion is a bad idea. It wasn't long before we realised we couldn't cover the mortgage. Reluctantly we decided we'd have to rent it out. But sometimes intuition is more powerful than logic. We started renting the house out to holiday makers. As popularity grew we were able to invest the income back into the property, based on feedback from guests and our vision of how it should grow. To our surprise we really liked having people stay and enjoy the place. It since has become our obsession. It is extraordinary to find so many people who share the passion we have for it. Twelve years on we are very proud of what we have created in Jim's spirit. Liptrap Loft is unique and rustic. If you are a "5 star - no less!" type of person, it probably wont be for you. Please make sure it is your 'cup of tea' before booking. OUR FAVOURITE REVIEW Magical Mystery Tour Liptrap Loft - Eugenie May 2014 "The quirky Liptrap Loft is almost Dr. Seuss Australia style, starting with the roof line. Upon entering one immediately laughs at the size of the four poster bed which is big enough for 8 people. Then opening the fridge one finds a telephone, and hot water bottle and a few other items. Only after a little more searching there is an operating fridge. Thank goodness. Filled with giggles, and quirks, and fun one checks out the outdoor Japanese bathhouse with the very quirky shower head dangling magically in space ….truly the whole experience was one big holiday from normalcy. It works. The pots and pans are best quality. The wood for the huge Coonara is plentiful if you can find the secret door! All in all we had a really lovely time, relaxing in this unique and fantastical environment. Generosity was the name of the game. Such a treat. Let your doggie friend also enjoy the whole deal. Wonderful!" FEATURES: - 5 minutes drive from Walkerville beach - 30 minutes from Wilsons Promontory - A 19th-century 4 poster giant KING bed (bigger than a king and taller than usual, imported from Holland, and found in Jakarta) - Japanese bath house with soak tub - Wood fired heater with generous wood supply included - Unique restored Oregon couch setting (imported from USA and found in Perth) - Broadband and WiFi - 1960's Oven and Stove - Large double fridge/freezer - Forest walk around the 5 acres bush land - 2 mountain bikes for guests to use (& helmets) - Roofed outdoor dog enclosure with kennel - 2 Dog beds for inside and outside - Dog chain and lead - Lawn bowls and cricket set - Hammock - Italian style stovetop coffee maker and French press (plunger) - BBQ -4 burne, quality cookware, wine glasses and essentials - Basic provisions like olive oil, spices, tea, coffee, Vegemite and Glad Wrap - The only dwelling on 5 acres. You cant see any other houses - Very private and secluded - Local info and tips sent on enquiry - Seamless process from enquiry to checkout - Pedantic and dedicated cleaner/caretaker - Ideal for couples, but can sleep 6 - Pets and children welcome WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVE There is no TV. Instead, it has a good selection of books and music (so our guests tell us). There are speakers in the bathhouse also. It has broadband, so you can take your computer and do some work if you feel like it. It has a hammock (which some people have even put up inside during inclement weather!). It does not have air conditioning. But it has a monster industrial fan (which is too big for the room and nearly blows you over, but it keeps you cool, and looks cool). It does not have an inside bathroom. You used to have to walk along the boardwalk to the bath house, but we have recently built a toilet just outside the front door. If you want to see the stars (they're definitely brighter than in Melbourne) you can still use the bath house, there is often wildlife around during the night. Stepping into the deep bath to bathe or shower would be a challenge for anyone with any mobility issues and problematic for anyone disabled. Linen is provided for the King 4-poster bed (as not everyone has King linen), but you will need to bring your own towels. If you are using the other 2 futons you will need to bring linen for these extra beds. We do provide tea towels as most people forget them (including us). The five acre fence is three wire farm fencing. It is not dog proof, and some of it has a low current to keep the livestock out. Most dogs stay around the house and there is a dog enclosure and kennel. PETS AND WILDLIFE The house was designed to highlight the bush views in all directions. So even if you are not outside, you can appreciate the wildlife, including wombats, koalas, echidnas, wallabies, blue tongue lizards in summer and frogs in winter. There is always bird-life around the property includes dazzling swallows and stunning black cockatoos. Keep the blinds up, to see the changing scenery, lighting and wildlife. We love and welcome pets! We have done what we can to make them comfortable with a dog stretcher for inside and out. We provide a chain and lead, and some dog toys and sometimes treats. We recently installed an outdoor enclosure. Its actually just a revamped avery. Its is approx 2m x 4m. It, has a roof & kennel with plenty of shade and breeze to keep pets comfortable and safe for a short time (i.e. if you are going to Wilson's Prom). AROUND THE LOCATION There is so much to do around the Walkerville/Cape Liptrap area. From beaches, to national parks, walking, cycling, wineries and Wilsons Prom. On booking we provide a 22 page "Things To Do" document. Liptrap Loft is not for everyone, but if you like character, charm and little surprises, there is every chance you will enjoy it like so many others have. If you have instagram, you can follow both our guests and our personal stays at @dufflebird_getaways

  • We had a delightful stay at Liptrap Loft. Watching the clouds glide across the moon whilst soaking in the bath was truly a highlight! We wanted to be somewhere quiet, private and a bit different to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and Liptrap Loft was just right. Beautiful Walkerville South beach is just a short drive away and South Gippsland is full of treasures. The communication from Fleur was prompt, helpful and easy. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Best Air BNB I've stayed at. Fleur has done an incredible job in providing a place that you could only hope for when booking a weekend escape. The property is beautiful, completely isolated so you feel like it is just you and nature (we saw echidna, wombat, wallaby, koala's). The facilities are amazing, and we felt so comfortable, to the point we never wanted to leave. It was also fantastic to have a place that is so lovely, be pet-friendly. Could not recommend it any more!

A beautiful quiet bushland retreat full of local flora and fauna.

It’s 10 acres of bush is surrounded by farmland and across the road is the Cape Liptrap Reserve which follows the coast from Waratah to Walkerville. There is a kiosk at the Walkerville camp site which has basic provisions and Sandy Point and Fish Creek both have General Stores. • Lovely space to relax in, great view on the verandah and really enjoyed exploring the local area. I can recommend the lime kiln walk and bald hill reserve- absolutely stunning. Liane was a great host, and the place was sparkling clean and with everything we needed. Great location too, not far from walkerville and surrounded by lovely coastal scrub, Cape Liptrap coastal park is right across the road.

  • Peaceful secluded place to stay!!

    Yazmin2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 had a lovely stay here. Clyde the cat was a fantastic host and we enjoyed visits from chickens and a very friendly farm dog. The place was clean and comfortable with great access to beaches and towns like Fish Creek. The frittata was delicious and just what we needed after arriving and settling in.

    Narelle2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a little treasure we found! The two nights in the shed of Amy’s farm were fabulous. Quick communication, easy to check-in, a cozy and very clean space in the middle of a working farm. A frittata and a dozen eggs waited for us - very thoughtful. Plus a very friendly cat who was desperate for a good pat, very cute. Beds were comfortable, bathroom splendid, the kitchen had everything we needed. We were warned that mobile phone reception would not be great, which we did not mind at all and enjoyed the screen-free time. We played the board games provided and the peace and quiet. Observing the chickens outside the kitchen window was the best entertainment! Thanks again, we would highly recommend staying at this farm!

    Eveline2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my family had a fantastic time at Amy’s place. The farm is not too far from the amenities and great attractions. We loved our privacy at the shed. Clyde - the best cat ever was a great company. Amy and her family showed great hospitality. Absolutely loved the delicious frittata upon our arrival with a lovely handwritten welcome note. We would love to stay again.

  • Our annual summer holiday at Kate's place was extremely relaxing, comfortable, and we felt completely at home. Thanks again!

    Bronwen2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place is so magical. The bush garden setting feels very private and there are loads of birds who come to visit. The outdoor shower, well appointed kitchen and comfortable bed are just some of the great features. The location is perfect. We loved the walk down to the beach through the coastal park. And thanks to whoever put the ropes in to make the climb a little easier! Even though it was peak time we had the beach almost to ourselves. A drive to swim at Waratah Bay (approx 20min away) is well worth it. As is the walk from the house to South Walkerville where there are caves to explore and some little bays to swim in. Kate was a great host and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend this place.

  • Kate's place was a real find -- nestled in a beautiful location, this 1960s cottage suited our needs perfectly. We really loved the cosy layout and retro decor, as well as the cute yard. Highly recommended!

  • I went to stay with some friends. We had a lovely time. You can walk to the beach where there are rock pools and there are great swimming beaches nearby too. The house is clean with everything you need in the kitchen. There is a really cute outside seating area which is great in the afternoon sun. The beads were comfy. We just had the nicest most relaxing time. Also the decor is super cute retro which I loved!

  • The view is even more spectacular in person. We had a beautiful time here. Beach just a few steps away, and every morning we looked forward to brekkie on the deck. Lucy’s place was very clean, bed linen very comfortable and clean. And kitchen was well stocked. We had everything we wanted. We will definitely be back. It was rainy so we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful garden and outdoor space as much as we would have loved to which would only have enhanced our experience. Highly recommend.

The accommodation is very clean, well maintained and comfortable. There is a wood fire and also an air conditioner in the living area. The unit has a large fridge (with freezer), dishwasher and a washing machine too. Neil's place is surrounded by wildlife. We saw two koalas in his backyard on our first night!

The extra touches were delightful, fresh herbs outside, tomatoes and beans from the garden in the fridge. Our house was completed in October 2017. Nestled amongst coastal bush, and looking onto rolling pastures, this modern cottage is a 10 minute drive to the beautiful beaches of Waratah Bay and Walkerville, and a 10 minute drive to the cute town of Fish Creek. This is a perfect location to enjoy the beaches, and water sports along the coastline, walking and hiking on the numerous trails and tracks, as well as great riding and cycling, food and produce.
We want you to enjoy your stay and all the things we love about this area of South Gippsland! Starting with the view, the living room of the cottage has timber floors and large windows which look out onto the neighbouring paddocks and hills. Bedroom one has a queen bed and built in robes. Bedroom two has a single over double bunk, and built in robes. Both bedrooms have timber floors and are filled with natural light, and have all bedlinen, doonas, pillows and throws. The kitchen is compact, with a coffee machine, microwave, appliances and plenty of crockery and glassware. There's an electric stovetop and oven and all you'll need to cook up a storm! Whilst there's no dishwasher at the moment, it is a very easy kitchen to use. One of the features of the house is being able to relax back on the sofa and take in the stunning view. In winter you'll enjoy being by the wood fire heater; it really is a year-round house. Wifi is available, along with a collection of books, games and music to enjoy. The house has been designed to capture the natural airflow in summer, however there are two portable fans if further cooling is needed. The bathroom has a shower over a full size bath, a washing machine, and towels, soap, handcream and laundry detergent are included. The deck is a beautifully relaxing place to take in the view, the birdlife and natural bushland. For the warmer days there's a remote controlled shade, and there's a table and chairs and BBQ for relaxed dining. Best of all, the cottage is private, and a lovely get away.
The Walkerville beaches are lovely and only ten minutes drive from the Cottage. South Walkerville has historic lime kilns whilst North Walkerville has rock pools and a small kiosk. At low tide you can walk from one beach to the other. South Walkerville is also featured in the children's book "Magic Beach"; we put a copy in the toy basket. Across the road from the Cottage is a coastal walking track that leads to Waratah Bay, and takes approximately 1.5 hours return. It has amazing views of the beach on the way down. Other things to see and do further afield are The Prom, Agnes Falls, Gurney's Cidery in Foster, Fish Creek Pub (with the fish on the roof) and there are some nice wineries near Foster and Fish Creek.
  • Recommended highly, great spot to kick back and relax, on the door step of all the attractions which goes with visiting the Prom. Don't hesitate to book Lisa's place.

The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery, microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster, stove and oven, also plastic bowls etc for little ones. The undercover area has bikes and seating for kids and plenty of adult seating, a bbq, dartboard and gas heater. We didn't use the washing machine or trough (handy for families) which is located with the shower, basin and toilet. Christopher was very nice and helpful before and when we checked in and replied quickly to messages and phone calls. The house itself is has nice views and the street is very quiet. A highly recommended property, I would definitely stay here again.

  • The hosts were warm and welcoming and very helpful with advice on things to do and see and places to eat. The house was comfortable, clean, quiet and well appointed. Breakfast included was helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

  • The house is lovely, with unique touches and great energy. It’s well equipped with everything you’d need. Really close to Wilson’s Prom entry too which was handy to go hiking everyday. Glenda & Ian were really responsive and helpful throughout. Only thing was that we booked a 2 bed, 2 bathroom place but only 1 bathroom was available to us. It would have been good to have both bathrooms but other than that it was good.

  • Excellent spot close to Wilson’s Prom. Very comfortable, beautiful home. Great breakfast, big fluffy pillows and soft sheets. Great communication with hosts who have great suggestions for the local area. Highly recommend.

  • We loved our stay at Glenda & Ian’s. Very quiet, beautiful setting, very close to the entrance of Wilson’s Prom, and a beautiful home with a very calm and inviting vibe. Loved it :)

  • A wonderful home as close to the edge of Wilson’s Prom as you can get without staying at Tidal River (you’re about 5 minutes away from the main gate here). Glenda was super easy to get in touch with and very helpful during our stay. It was great having a few items for breakfast provided and Glenda also provided some other great recommendations for places to eat in the surrounding area. Will definitely be back again!

Our home is open to guests to enjoy at their leisure, it is comfortable and has a deck where you can sit out and enjoy the lovely views over the farmland where the cows sometimes come over to graze. It is a 15-20 min walk to the beach and if you are going to Wilsons Prom it is about a 35min drive to the entrance. It is about a 50 min drive to Philip Island where the motorbike grand prix is held along with other races over the year. Wild life can often be viewed around Venus Bay in the evenings.
The bedroom is a good size and has a wide screen television to enjoy. There is a separate area where guests can go to have a game of pool or to watch television over a cuppa, also a continental breakfast is served in the mornings to start you on your day. Access to the internet is also available.
The neighborhood is quiet and safe.
  • Very neat room and amazing hospitality! Close to the beach where we had dinner watching the sun go down. Would definitely stay here again.

This absolute beachfront property is in the prime location of the most exclusive part of Walkerville, rated number one in Victoria's best kept secrets - the spectacular beaches of which most people have never heard. With it comes one of the state's most prestigious ocean views, overlooking Waratah Bay with a spectacular panorama of Wilson's Promontory. The bay offers great fishing, safe swimming, snorkelling and diving, splendid coastal hikes and accommodates for all boating activities. Walkerville Shores is set on a private road and with just 32 steps to the waters edge, is so close to the bay. No busy roads to cross, no sand dunes to climb. The secluded half acre block is surrounded by Cape Liptrap Coastal Reserve with direct access to this sensational sandy beach, rocky outcrops and walking track to the historic Lime Kilns. Walkerville Shores has been craftsman built and architect designed to bring the spectacular outlook into every room. The expansive open plan living room has a full view over the bay and access to a large alfresco entertaining area. New modern leather recliners allow you to sit back in comfort to watch the boats pass or relax by the open fire watching TV, Foxtel, or your pick from over 100 DVD's. The gourmet kitchen is beautifully appointed with quality appliances, huge island bench, walk in pantry, charming pendant lighting and also beach views. The split level courtyard at the rear is surrounded by the bush setting of Cape Liptrap Coastal Park. A newly installed natural rock water feature has been installed by a multi award winning landscape artist. A sheltered and quiet escape with nature. BBQ available for use along with all accessories. Venturing outside, we offer picnic baskets, binoculars, coats and jackets, umbrellas, esky, travel guides and maps. We have tried to think of everything to make your stay unique and memorable. Yes, our house in its entirety is for you to enjoy, unlike other holiday rentals offering limited facilities.
Most of our guests are more than satisfied to stay close to Walkerville Shores. They soon realise that there is much enjoyment to be had, both inside and in the immediate surrounds. You can take several days exploring the beaches and attractions at Walkerville and the Cape Liptrap Coastal Park, and still look forward to coming back again. Walkerville Shores is nestled into the steep hill of Cape Liptrap, therefore it is sheltered from most coastal winds. Wherever you are in Walkerville, the peaks and islands of Wilsons Promontory National Park dominate the horizon. Entry to The Prom is a short drive away. This idyllic coastal settlement is located at the south-western end of Waratah Bay and once was one of the busiest places in South Gippsland. History Remnants of the kilns that supplied quick lime to the Melbourne building industry between 1875 and 1926 can still be seen on the foreshore. Walk back in time when you take the short stroll amongst these ruins and the historic cemetery. With well located information boards along the trails, you will be amazed to learn that in its heyday the Waratah lime industry supported about 80 workers and their families who lived in cottages and were served by a general store, a post office and a coffee palace. Escape to nature Walkerville Shores is surrounded by the 4,175-hectare Cape Liptrap Coastal Park, boasting extensive coastal heathlands, home to many native birds and wildlife. At Walkerville Shores, we keep an updated bird list, which exceeds 30 different varieties from the tiny wrens to majestic eagles and dancing lyre birds. Native animals are never far away, including wombats, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, possums and gliders. In the bay you can see dolphins, seals and whales during their migration season. All visible from your bedroom, kitchen, or living room !! The Walkerville area is famous for its rock formations, which have been described as one of the most interesting and complex geological sequences in Victoria. Walkerville's land forms include rock platforms, steep cliffs, sea caves, rock stacks like Arch Rock and Bird Rock, and sandy beaches. On the bay Walkerville is renowned for its fishing, from the beach, the many rock ledges and also out on Waratah Bay. Boats may be launched from the beach at Walkerville North, immediately in front of Walkerville Shores. Safe swimming, snorkelling, diving, surfing, and kayaking can all be enjoyed within a minute's stroll from your doorstep. On the beach Enjoy the rock pools and beachcombing at low tide, explore caves, hike the hills when the tide is high. Numerous walking tracks are well sign posted. So come for your history lesson, your nature escape, your water pleasures, your holiday to always remember in the place we think is the best Walkerville has to offer !!
  • Great place to stay, Robyn was very accommodating and made us feel welcomed into the Airbnb, photos do not do the place and view justice ! exceeded expectations

    Geoff2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Robyn and Allan provided us with the most gorgeous property for our weekend away. Communication was clear and timely. The view was breathtaking and the attention to detail all around the property was incredible. It felt like a private oasis. Just perfect.

    Samantha2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely space with magnificent views. This home is spectacular and Robyn and Allan are wonderful hosts. Communication and location we’re absolutely fantastic. After my Mother and Father-in-law lost their home and everything they own to bushfires, these lovely people offered their home at no cost. It was a beautiful gesture during a terribly traumatic event and my family will always be grateful for the beautiful generosity this couple showed to strangers. This beachfront home is the perfect place to relax and soak up the view explore some of the most amazing places in Australia.

    Carly2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house is even better than the alraedy incredible photos. Robyn and Allan are wonderful hosts, we loved the little touches they left such as the welcome card along with chocolates and chamagne and handmade soaps in the bathroom. Hunderds of books for all ages, board games and puzzles and the private movie teather (with reclinable chairs and a wide selection of movies) made for great family time. We loved the proximity of the beach and the amazing view. The living room with reclinable chairs that faced the ocean allowed for a relaxing time, and the tables on the deck with the view on the ocean allowed for great aperitifs and dinners. The generous offer of early check in and late check out allowed us to enjoy this beautiful place to the fullest. Thanks!

We really appreciated all the thought they've put into giving their guests the best experience. It was a great location, peaceful and surrounded by nature and wildlife. Highly recommend staying here, I can only say positive things about this place and about the hosts! Thanks again for making our Easter weekend a memorable one Robyn and Allan :-)

She was a fantastic host even providing us with a bottle of red and chilled music to walk into. I highly recommend Driftwood... We will 100% be back!

    Brookie2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend away at Driftwood exceeded all expectations! The house is even prettier in real life, with amazing attention to detail, spotless and comfortable. The cheese and wine was lovely surprise as well! Driftwood is well located, with easy driving distance to Wilsons Prom and most of the small and picturesque little villages in the region. We had great fun exploring Loch, Koonwarra, Kilcunda and many more places - from antiquing, great Farmers Markets and cafes to delicious food and good coffee! Highly recommend a weekend or more away at Driftwood - you won't stop raving about it to all your friends and family! Thanks Sigrid!

    Dan And Cath2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • There's only one word to describe Driftwood - WOW! What a beautiful experience wandering around the property and discovering all of its wonders. The front and back deck is fully fences and gated so it was perfect for our toddler to be able to wander from one deck, through the house and out to the other deck safely. The whole place is thoughtfully decorated and is a great mix of both style and comfort. Walkerville is great if you want to be a short-ish drive to to The Prom but there's not much else there except total relaxation! Rosellas and Pink Cockatiels will join you on the front deck and there's gorgeous, clear star gazing at night. The local camping (2 min drive away) site has coffees but only between 10am-2/3pm ish. Fish Creek has a great cafe and pub and is only a 15-20min drive away, otherwise Sigrid's house is well set up for cooking and BBQs. I should also mention that Sigrid is the perfect host - extremely thoughtful and responsive. Enjoy! We'll definitely be back.

    Jo2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing time at Driftwood. Sigrid was very accommodating with last minute guest changed & added that special touch with the bottle of wine, chocolates, crackers & (to die for) cheese. The kids could roam freely in the back with the cubby house, swings & trampoline while the adults enjoyed relaxing by the camp fire. The house is well decorated & has that homely feel. Although there was hardly any reception, it was a nice chance to get away from all the technology & just relax. We wish we could have extended our stay. We will definitely be back again.

    Ryan2016-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, perfectly set up for a beachside holiday. Loved the decor and received a very warm welcome. Would highly recommend it for families or groups of friends wanting a relaxing holiday.

    Conor2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place and amazing service. There was a crazy storm passing through on our way from Melbourne and when we arrived there was no water or electricity. Sigrid arranged for a neighbour to come over and give us some water and candles. With the wood burning stove., some candles and the cheese and wine that Sigrid had left for us we have a very romantic start to the weekend. The power came back on 5 hours after we arrived so it was all good. Great place to explore Wilsons Prom and surrounding coast and of course the wineries! We will def come back with friends next time, and for longer!

    Rob2016-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sigrid made us feel extremely welcome in her beach house. Everything we could have thought of was available in the house. The house was beautifully decorated and made for a very relaxing and comfortable stay. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the garden and walking down to the beach.

    Madeleine2016-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved driftwood SO much! What a wonderful place, so much amazing wildlife, rosellas joined us for breakfast on the front verandah and we saw an echidna the moment we turned into the street on arrival :) Soaking up the incredible stars by the fire pit in the backyard was just what we needed. Sigrid, although we didn't meet, was so thoughtful and generous. A bottle of wine and cheese is just what you need after a drive through very lovely scenery to driftwood. both fires were already expertly built ready to light and enjoy. Such a lovely space, very homely and warm. We stayed as a couple and it felt cosy, but we'd also love to return with friends. It works either way. It's a kids paradise too. What I'd have done for a cubby like that as a child! The endless beaches are stunning, the closest lookout is breath taking. Lots of helpful suggestions about the area in sigrids manual/guide. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful place. It was a joy :)

    Walkerville, VIC, Australia

A lovely place to relax, nestled into the trees with a stunning ocean view across Waratah Bay to the Prom. The house has an easygoing mix of collected vintage furniture, local designer homewares and indigenous art. Walkerville South is a beautiful beach, protected by Bird Rock for small kid friendly waves, and surrounded by Cape Liptrap Coastal Park.
The house was built in the 1970's, and updated recently. The living space is comfortable with windows looking out to the balcony and view, with a wood fire (and firewood!), TV, bluetooth BOSE speaker, games, kids toys and books. The open kitchen is small but has all the essentials, including an espresso machine and grinder, oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher etc. There are also items like fresh coffee beans, locally made olive oil, tea, salt, pepper, sugar, spices and other basics. We also have a high chair if needed. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles. The balcony deck is spacious and has a BBQ, dining table, a hammock chair as well as a couple of deck chairs. There is a child lock gate at the top of the balcony stairs. The downstairs space includes one bedroom with a double bed, and a living space with a single bed, sofa, travel cot and small, basic kitchenette with a sink, microwave and second fridge. To access the downstairs bathroom from the downstairs living space, you must go through the bedroom. The downstairs bathroom also has a washing machine and laundry tub. Access between upstairs and downstairs is via the outside balcony stairs only - there are no internal stairs. There are boogie boards, buckets, spades, beach umbrella etc that you are welcome to use. We provide linen on all beds and towels for the house. You just need to bring beach towels! There is also air conditioning and heating both upstairs and downstairs. In our backyard is a giant cubby with a deck, slide and monkey bars, and a vegie garden that you are welcome to take from. The front garden has a big grassy area and plantings of indigenous flora. The beach is a 3-5 minute walk down a bushy path that starts right in front of our place and pops out at the top of the lime kilns. It is steep in one section. You can also walk down the road to the beach, which is about a 10 minute walk away. This place is perfect for one or two families wanting to enjoy the natural surrounds. Please ask us about late check out - if we can accomodate this with our other bookings, we are happy to do this.
Walkerville South is a little gem of a beach, protected by Bird Rock for kid friendly waves, and surrounded by Cape Liptrap Coastal Park. There is interesting history in the town of Waratah (the previous name of Walkerville South) and its lime kilns - you can see remnants of houses and gardens dotted around the hills around the beach. At low tide there is excellent beach exploring to do, with caves, rock pools and snorkelling.
  • Fantastic. Looking forward to staying again!

  • Great location for a relaxed quiet retreat. Don't expect 'glam' but do expect art and style. Comfortable main bed which is a big plus.

  • This was our second stay at this absolutely beautiful house in one of the most special parts of the world. The house is set up like a home (but cleaner and much more hip than my home!), the artwork is just sublime and I could just sit in the hammock on the deck, staring at that amazing view for hours. Thank you so much for being so kind when I inadvertently took the keys home with us. We can’t wait to come back again!

    Erin2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful beach house. It has so much natural light and the most stunning views of the water and Wilson’s Prom. It is so convenient for beach days at Walkerville South.
