1 bed self contained cottage set in rural mid Wales. Large hot tub available to use at an additional cost of £20 per day for your own use..... please let us know prior to arrival if you would like the tub, as we have to balance chemicals and get it up to temperature ready for you. Full kitchen with everything you could possibly need... pots, pans, steamer, slow cooker etc,sky TV, log burner and central heating. We have beautiful views, some lovely walks and a haven of wildlife on our doorstep.
Hot tub can be booked for your sole use (£20 per night).... payable on arrival please. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate guests in the hot tub that have any kind of fake tan applied, it turns the water orange!!!!! Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but we need to keep our facilities clean for other guests. Please be aware that we are in a valley and internet can be hit and miss, if you are looking to be on line for a lot of the time.... this may not the place for you. Mobile signal is really a no go, we are happy for you to use our land line to make any calls. As we are in the country, as hard as we try, you may spot the odd cobweb in the beams and a little dust.... all part of the character and country experience:-)
Very quiet area. No bus service. Lovely views.
  • Had a lovely few days here for my partners birthday. We were given plenty of information before hand regarding directions and then greeted by the host on arrival who was very welcoming and friendly. Thankyou, we loved our stay

  • Stayed at this beautiful lodge for a weekend to celebrate my partners birthday. Absolutely perfect if wanting to take a step back from day to day life and enjoy a countryside break. The hosts were so helpful from the get go and happy to answer any questions. We were greeted on arrival and Hadyn brought the humour, had us laughing and feeling right at ease from the start. Showed us around and reassured us that we could approach them at any point during our stay. The lodge was warm and they had a candle lit when we arrived so it instantly just felt so cosy. The hot tub was just as described and had been pre heated for when we got there. Everything you need is provided so we didn’t find ourselves worrying at any point. Huge thank you to Jude and Hadyn, would highly recommend!x

  • What a beautiful little escape from the real world! Cosy, quaint and well equipped for a cosy weekend in or the perfect base to see some of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park and other surrounding areas. Couldn't recommend the Waggon and Horses in Newtown enough for a delicious dinner and had the most relaxing evening in the hot tub with a bottle of wine and to completely detach from emails/work/etc. Thank you Jude and Hadyn xx

    Shannon2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jude's cottage is lovely, homely, clean and has all the amenities you could need. Parking is great. The host offers a warm welcome and was always easy to contact before the visit. Perfect retreat for couples.

Rewind. Recharge. Unplug. Picturesque lakeside lodges nestled in the Welsh countryside. Wake up to panoramic views overlooking the lake, enjoy some breakfast on the decking watching the feeding fish or letting the world go by before setting about your day, its the perfect spot for fishing, walking, cycling, sightseeing or shopping! After after a hectic day retire to the hot tub for some R & R and watch the sun go down! Only 15 mins from City Centre, Cardiff Bay
Great for couples looking to relax and explore, great walks, pubs, cycle paths and local attractions
We are based in the welsh countryside surrounded by arable farmland, there are stunning walks, rides and we're just 10-15mins from cardiff citty centre. Within walking distance is the Cefn Mably Arms a lovely country pub and the Maenllwyd Inn a cracking gastro pub
  • The lodge on the lake is ideal for a couples getaway. We had enough space to store our luggage, and the pull out bed was easy to use and a great use of space. The hot tub is fantastic and we spent most of the weekend bubbling away. Even when it was colder at night outside it was still worth the short dash to the hot tub! The wifi was excellent and meant we could use netflix with ease. There is a handbook which tells you how to use everything and includes some local activities. We would happily stay here again!

    Sam2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Owen's place was great - the hot tub was a particular highlight, even in the windy weather of Storm Ciara!

  • Quiet little hut with hot tub by a small lake with beautiful view - perfect for relaxation! Recommended!

    Max2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had such a lovely long weekend here! Needed a relaxing break to escape the real world for a little bit and this was the perfect place. Hot tub was great and the cooking facilities were perfect, cooked some steak which we brought from the farm shop which is 2 minutes up the road! No oven but not an issue to us! Remote area which is ideal! We have no complaints whatsoever. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

    Becky2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin on the lake is wonderful setting, off the beaten track but not feeling remote. Excellent wi-fi, hot tub was amazing and my only negative was that there is no oven!

    Samantha2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lodge on the lake was very peaceful just what you need for a relaxing getaway. The cabin was very clean and to our expectations. It had all the cooking facilities you need to cook with. There is a small cooker/hob and a microwave. The shop is a little pricey so do a small shop before hand. Would definatley recommend staying here and I'm sure well be back.

    Toni2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Whatever you think to expect from this pod, it will impress you - great facilities, great location, and you'll have a great long weekend, whether you just want to stay cosy to read/write/indulge in beautiful quiet surroundings, or pootle into Caerphilly or Cardiff to explore the castles and other delights of this area of Wales. Genuinely couldn't have had a better weekend and would heartily recommend this place to anyone.

    Lee2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a ‘has to be seen to be believed’ holiday, cleaner than you’d expect, the hot tub was bubbling away invitingly on arrival and the scenery is breathtaking, without a doubt one of the most relaxing weekends we have had. Highly recommended

Beautiful Woodland hobbit/fairy/witch house Nestled away in our woodland is our new roundhouse. Built from natural materials, nearly all from the woodland around it and super insulated with gas hob, wood burner and running water. Come hideaway, hibernate, nestle and nuzzle.. tend fires, read, swim in our lake, pick salad and eggs from the farm... This cabin offers the perfect place to step into a different pace, to be at one with nature, to slow down and think about what matters in the world.
The roundhouse is part of our permaculture farm and campsite and is nestled away in 40 acres woodland. It has a compost toilet nearby and there is a hot shower and regular toilet available at the farm. For sleeping it has a double bed, a double sofa bed and big single bed. We will provide all bedding (but not towels). For cooking it has a double ring gas burner (and BBQ/Firepit outside), running water and a sink as well as most of the pots/pans/plates/mugs etc you could need. Its also got 12v lighting and a socket to plug in your phone (but its is truly off-grid and has no mains electricity). It is worth saying that the Roundhouse is in the woods and is about 300m from your car through the field and woods. We do allow dogs, we don't really encourage them but we do recognise that they are often part of your family. Any dogs brought with you must be well controlled at all times, cleaned up after and we also ask that you leave a £10 donation for the cleaner.
We are in a beautiful corner of the world, we are only 10 miles from M'nt Snowdon and only a mile to the beach, on the corner of the stunning Llynn Peninsula.
  • Lovely quirky little getaway, been 3 times now and will keep returning! Friendly helpful hosts, great communication....thank you xxxxx

  • Fabulous setting , a real adventure . If your prepared and you know and have read what to expect.. fabulous . The bed was a little uncomfortable. We were there during storm Ciara .. and it wasnt too bad. The little house is lovely and quiet.

Cozy wooden cabin in the heart of Wales set amongst the forest of beautiful Abergwesyn. Great base for adventurers or as a romantic getaway.
Cozy wooden cabin in the heart of Wales set amongst the forests of beautiful Abergwesyn. Great base for adventurers, walkers, bikers and cyclists or as a romantic getaway. Single room wooden cabin with outside under cover kitchen facilities. Separate toilet, sink and hot water shower in nearby barn. The cabin is located near to the owner's cottage, but is very private, and has it's own garden area with space for an extra tent. No other properties are visible from the cabin. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement, and must be kept on a lead at all times outside the cabin. The cabin is unheated during the summer months, early autumn and late spring, but there are plenty of blankets and hot water bottles to keep guests warm on chilly evenings. Interaction with host is as required by the guests. Stunning scenery, wildlife, wild swimming, mountain walking or biking, fabulous drives, and starry starry nights. Excellent pub food three miles away. The cabin is rural so a car, bike or bicycles are a necessity. Private parking is available.

  • We are two young professionals who left the comfort and security of the West Midlands for our first romantic getaway. What could be better than staying in a cosy cabin surrounded by glorious nature and outstanding scenery? Between Google maps and Janine’s instructions, we had no problems finding the location. Upon arrival, Janine welcomed us and showed us around our abode for the next two nights. After all our travelling, like many others before us, we indulged in Janine’s delicious Welsh cakes which lived up to the description left in previous reviews. After settling in, our survival instincts kicked in and we lit a fire in the fire pit. We had brought with us three large bags of kindling, a box of fire lighters and a lighter. We later discovered that we only needed two bags of kindling because we only cooked on the fire pit twice, each evening. However we had to drive to a shop to get more firefighters. (Top tip: don’t leave your lighter out in the rain overnight or this will be added to your shopping list). Cooking on the fire pit was a lovely experience and created a real sense of adventure and teamwork. (Top tip: With no light pollution to spoil the scenery it would be great to bring a torch with you to ensure that your meat is cooked through or just use the torch on your phone). After filling our bellies, we retired for the night. Being winter, Janine had thoughtfully provided and left on an electric heater which took the chill off the room. We did however, make full use of the array of blankets provided to keep warm. The next day, we woke up feeling refreshed to the sound of the stream nearby. The amenities in the kitchenette meant that we could make a cup of tea using the kettle provided and cook sausages on the induction hob. In the cabin is a folder filled with information of local walks and advice. We used this to plan our day and set off exploring on one of the routes provided. The route we chose was not overly demanding but provided breathtaking scenery and the instructions were accurate meaning we did not get lost. (Top tip: bring snacks and a drink for your walk). When we returned from our expedition, we slipped into something more comfortable, the ponchos provided and played one of the many board games located in the cupboard. It rained on and off throughout our stay which only added to the charm. It was cloudy on the first night but we were fortunate that on the second night, the sky was clear and the stars pierced the night sky. We sat outside stargazing with a cup of tea and it was breathtaking. The following day, we checked out but just before venturing back to reality we took a detour to the Devil’s Staircase. The scenery on the drive there is incredible and the drive was not taxing due to the good roads. (Top tip: the road leading to the Devil’s Staircase is steep and winding. However my Hyundai i10 handled it, if she can, you can). We then ventured home and have enjoyed reminiscing about it since and would happily return.

  • Just as described, peaceful and remote in the forest. A bit nippy and a bit wet at this time of year but warm and cosy in the cabin.

    Eva2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Quirky cabin in the woods, nice and peaceful, board games are a nice touch! Had a fantastic time away for the night. Made our experience better with no phone signal, being away from the world. Highly recommend! Will definitely be going back.

    Jasmine2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need for a peaceful, lovely weekend.. The electric blanket and the board games were much appreciated.

    Ame2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Janine was a lovely and kind host who greeted us on check in and showed us around. The cabin was exactly what we needed for a quiet night away and we made full use of the board games and cooked our dinner on the fire outside. We stayed on a night that got down to minus temperatures but still stayed warm in the cabin and the electric blankets kept us cosy through the night! Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cabin in the middle of the woods. Cosy little space. A little cold but we did have a heater / plenty of blankets & slippers! Plenty of nearby streams and waterfalls. Be sure to check out devil's staircase for absolutely stunning views!

Whether you want to relax in the hot tub with a glass of wine, cwtch up (Welsh for cuddle up) with a good book, explore the spectacular mountain scenery, walk the coastal path or enjoy wildlife and nature at its best, our cottage is the ideal, cosy, peaceful place to escape to and breathe. Located near the beautiful Georgian town of Aberaeron, market town Tregaron, and university towns of Lampeter, and Aberystwyth, and with a great pub within easy walking distance, you will go home recharged.
Cwtch Cottage has its own separate, secure, and private entrance, as an attached but independent cottage next door to our own house. That means that we are on hand if you need help, but will leave you totally in peace otherwise! Totally self contained and set in 7 acres of fields including a one acre natural spring fed lake and an additional pond teaming with wildlife, depending on the time of year, you will see red kites and buzzards overhead, several species of duck, greylags and Canada geese, and our regular visitors, the heron and the occasional cormorant. There is such low light pollution that you will almost certainly be treated to a stunning night sky, bright stars and breathtaking views of the Milky Way. Cwtch Cottage has its own all year spa hot tub for exclusive use by the cottage guests. It is screened off to ensure your privacy while at the same time allowing you to enjoy stunning views of the lake to the front, the hills and mountains to the side views over extensive country to the rear and the Milky Way and stars at night. There is also a picnic table to the front of the cottage with views over the lake and a bench to the side. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome and we provide a variety of dog bowls and towels too, though please be aware that we have our own dogs and cats who wander around the grounds at will. Please let us know in advance if you are planning to bring your pooch(es) with you so we can make your pet feel welcome too. You are welcome to take a walk around the property, try your hand at fishing as our guests, say hello to our ponies, dogs and cats or just enjoy some undisturbed peace and quiet to help you recharge. The cottage is tastefully decorated and has broadband, a 42" TV with FreeView, a Blueray DVD player with DVDs and a range of books, games and magazines for you to enjoy. There is also an Amazon Firestick connected which you can use to log onto your own account. The kitchen is also very well equipped with halogen hob/grill/oven, microwave, dishwasher and has both a small fridge and large fridge/freezer. There is ample cutlery, crockery, glassware, pots, pans and utensils. A welcome tea tray consisting of Earl Grey and English breakfast teas, green tea and peppermint tea, coffee and hot chocolate together with a choice of biscuits will be ready waiting for you when you arrive. If you need to do some washing, the washer/drier makes life easier and there is an ironing board and decent iron. There is a shower room with shower, WC and wash basin downstairs.
Cwtch Cottage is located in the safest county in the UK, Ceredigion, within easy reach of mountains and coast. Our nearest neighbour is several hundred yards in each direction so peace is guaranteed. If you are a foodie, there's the Hungry Ram less than a mile away which does great food and welcomes well behaved dogs (mention at time of booking which is advised as it is very popular). One of Wales' top pubs, the Talbot in Tregaron, whose chef trained with Pierre Marco White, is only a short drive away. There are numerous other excellent restaurants in Aberaeron, recently recognised as one of the best places to be in the UK. Notable places to eat and drink include The Cellar and Manuka while the Harbourmaster right next door to the harbour offers nationally recognised high quality epicurian delights! In addition, The Hive offers great seafood, and ribs, to go with its renown honey ice cream by day and is a lively bar, with regular live music by night. We are also within an hour of Ynyshir Hall if Michelin starred cuisine is your thing. If you fancy a quiet night in, there is a good Chinese take away, fish and chip shop and kebab shop fifteen minutes away and a great Indian and others within 20 minutes. Equestrian lovers will find themselves in the heart of Welsh cob country and easy reach of some of the world's top studs who welcome visitors by arrangement. For lovers of arts and crafts, there is an active summer arts trail as well as regular fairs and exhibitions. Perhaps a view from Cwtch Cottage could provide the inspiration for your next painting, drawing or photograph! Whatever you enjoy, Cwtch Cottage is well equipped with information leaflets for a wide range of different venues to visit and activities to try if you want to go off exploring.

  • Carolyn was a fantastic host. We arrived 2 hours later than expected and were greated by Carolyn on arrival she was so lovely and friendly. She gave us a tour around the cottage and explained how everything worked. I'd booked the trip as a surprise for my partners 30th and Carolyn had very kindly bought him a card and a bottle of bubbly for us to celebrate. Carolyn gave excellent recommendations for things to do and where to eat. After a long journey from Plymouth we made the short walk to the Hungry Ram and enjoyed a lovely meal before heading back to relax in the hot tub. Having looked quite hard to find the right place to stay I can honestly stay the cottage exceeded all expectations. The privacy and exclusive use of the hot tub were real bonuses. We will definitely be coming back.

Xidong is a cottage converted from an old stone and timber cowshed with a Japanese theme. It sleeps two people and has a hot-tub in the enclosed garden, which is available to use all the year round. More information and details of the cottage can be found on our website.
The cottage is spacious and serene with an oriental flavour. The kitchen is well appointed and there is an amazing and unusual wet room. Pets are welcome and are charged £20 extra per animal.
The cottage is situated in a very quiet and tranquil area of South Shropshire. The scenery is stunning; there are interesting places to visit from castles to gardens, woods and forts. There are plenty of excellent restaurants being near to the old historical food centre of Britain - Ludlow. You can walk for miles on well signposted footpaths and cycle either on the quiet lanes or mountain biking in the local forestry.
  • I would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone looking for piece and quiet.

  • Perfect place for a relaxing break. Really appreciated the homemade goodies and underfloor heating. Couldn't have asked for a nicer week with great weather and scenery. Thank you very much

  • Thank you for the perfect escapism. The cottage was perfect for two and very cosy with the log fire and heating flooring for us and the dog. We would definitely return for another trip and recommend it to friends.

  • Xidong is a beautiful and stylish little cottage. Great for this time of year with the fire place and hot tub! Becky was a fantastic host, she provided us with fresh eggs/milk/bread and even picked us up from the train station! We spent most of our time exploring the country side and ending up walking for miles! Highly recommended to everyone!

    Alexandra2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing stay at this querky barn conversion, very clean inside and out. The hot tub was fantastic and the dog loved the underfloor heating. There are some nice walks in the area if you are into that.

    Adi2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place! The cottage is a lot larger than it appears on the photos and the surroundings are beautiful! Hot tub was an added bonus! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Amy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is the perfect little place if you’re looking to relax and escape for a short break. They’ve utilised the space so well and the underfloor heating meant we were toasty during our December stay. The garden is absolutely glorious and must be a real sight in warmer weather! Becky was the perfect host, respecting our privacy despite being so close by, with a lot of attention to detail, leaving bath robes for the hot tub and butter, milk and eggs on arrival. A home away from home!

  • This cottage is the perfect escape. We drove from South London which took just over 4.5 hours on lovely winding country roads through the welsh countryside and mountains. The cottage is bursting with character (we particularly liked the beams and log fire) whilst perfectly modern with every amenity under the sun. The jacuzzi bath is fabulous and the kitchen is incredibly well stocked. We had a welcome note and package which was a lovely touch. The free parking right outside is a helpful touch, and the town nearby is very easy to get to, sporting a huge supermarket and then some smaller bakery’s, book shops etc. There is a huge range of information provided at the cottage and we took one of the hiking routes along Harlech beach which was wonderful. Overall would absolutely recommend a stay if you are seeking a cosy country escape.

  • We stayed for 3 nights and in all honesty we had a fantastic time- it exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect; the pub (The Grape) with wonderful food/service only 1 minute walk down the road. 10 minute drive to the nearest village, has everything you need for a short stay (Tesco/ shops/ cafe's). During out stay one of the days it was impossible to go out due to the weather (we attempted and nearly got stuck due to flooding!) but still had a lovely day chilling in the cottage and again was super handy for The Grape to be within walking distance. The property itself was beautifully decorated/ very homely/ clean with high quality fixtures and fittings. The parking outside was an added bonus as well as the area being super quiet. All in all we would love to come back in a couple of years but we would personally choose to come around April. We could not fault our stay, it was very relaxing and enjoyable.

  • What an amazing stay! Thank you! Xx

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! It was extremely comfortable with stunning surrounding scenery. The cottage has been carefully designed and lots of finishing touches were included, in fact everything you could need during your stay was thought of. A welcome note with some fresh flowers, cakes and chocolates were awaiting our arrival which was lovely. Highly recommended. We hope to return for another stay in the future!!

  • Perfect for those looking to get some peace & quiet in the Welsh countryside. Great location for exploring Snowdonia, with Snowdon just a 40 min drive away. The cottage had everything I needed (even a cosy dressing gown!), with a fully equipped kitchen too. Highly recommend.

You’ll love my place because of the view from your bed of the night sky and the view from your windows of fields and wildlife, especially birds. My place is good for couples for a romantic, relaxing getaway and solo adventurers who need time to relax and unwind in a unique space.
The quiet and the friendliness of the locals makes this location special.
Snowdonia and all the local attractions are within easy reach but it's nice to come back to a location out of the touristy area.
  • We stayed at Nia’s tiny house for 4 nights in March. It’s a lovely place on their farm in close proximity to the north wales coast and Snowdonia. The tiny house is lovely, clean and very well done! It has literally everything you need for a week away including a hot tub with wonderful views over the fields and sheep. Nia was very friendly and welcoming and we would be happy to come back and stay again. Thanks so much!

    Gabby2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing time at Nia's tiny house. Nia was really friendly and helpful when showing us around. Everything is very well thought out in the space. The hot tub is always perfect temperature and the robes provided make the dash out in the cold a little easier. The location is great, a pub in the village with a few good began options (not really walking distance but easy to get to), and easy enough to get to Snowden too in about half an hour. We didnt want to leave as it was so relaxing. There really are no faults! Will hopefully be back soon!

    Anya2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time away at Nia’s beautiful home under the stars. Every aspect has been thought about carefully and the scenery and surroundings simply stunning. Would highly recommend and we look forward to returning!

  • Great place in private location close to lovely seaside and countryside

    Shannon2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny cottage was absolutely perfect, tastefully decorated with meaningful touches which made the whole experience extremely special. Nia was absolutely brilliant and provided lots of interesting local recommendations which we took complete advantage of during our break. The cottage had everything we needed for the stay and the kitchen is a lovely space for cooking with an unspoiled view over the table whilst we enjoyed our food. We were close to the main house but it felt incredibly private and access to the hot tub and facilities felt quite secluded which was wonderful. During our stay, we got engaged, this will always be a special place for us. Thank you Nia.

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't recommend Nia's cabin enough! A lovely host, very discrete. The hot tub was amazing! Half an hour from the coast and snowdonia. Would also recommend zip world caverns!

    Jade2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Loved how it was decorated, the place is a gem! Nia was very welcoming and informative of what was around us. The hot tub is a real nice touch aswell, would definitely recomend this place to anyone!!

    Tomas2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, stylish and spotless accommodation. We made full use of the hot tub, despite the weather been awful. There are lovely amenities - quality toiletries, slippers and gowns provided and scones on arrival was a lovely touch. The location is easy to find and the pub down the road was lovely - but it isn’t walking distance. Overall top class stay.

  • My boyfriend and I went to stay for a romantic getaway to celebrate his birthday. The pods were simply gorgeous, even better than they look in the picture. Elaine greeted us and we were made to feel so welcome. Everything was spotlessly clean, could not fault this hideaway it was perfect. Had our own private hot tub and the owners had even left a bottle of wine for us to celebrate which was a lovely touch. After a great nights sleep in a really comfy bed we had a fantastic breakfast hamper delivered. Warm croissants, jam, tea, milk, orange juice.....fantastic start to the day. Could not recommend this place enough, thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be coming back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Really nice set up in a beautiful spot. Having a private hot tub was wonderful after a day of hiking around the local area. Very good directions and great with responding to questions. We are telling everyone we know about this place and we hope to be back one day!

  • Such a tranquil place to stay and relax. The extra touches were so lovely breakfast basket hand delivered in the morning with hot crossiants, and fresh milk and juice in fridge for you on arrival. Both really lovely hosts. Hot tub is amazing and the views spectacular. We're so lucky to live in such a beautiful area. Can't wait to come back and stay many thanks Tina

    Linda2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We wish we could stay longer! The pod is immaculate, super clean and cosy. The location is blissfully quiet. The host went above and beyond with the bottle of wine and breakfast hamper. 100% recommend staying here, and no doubt will be staying again in the future ❤️

    Laura2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The pod was amazing, so clean and stylish and just the right size for myself and my boyfriend (and our dog). Jon and Elaine were very helpful and friendly, they answered any questions (both prior to and during our trip) quickly and had excellent local knowledge about where to visit and eat. We loved that their was a fire bowl to use so in the evenings we could lit the fire and get in the hot tub and just relax. My friends have seen photos I've posted online and have asked where it is and how to book, so they're impressed too! Thank you for a great weekend away!

Our secluded cabin is surrounded by ancient oak tree forest and all the wildlife that comes with it. It is so peaceful that you will only hear the river and the birds. Set in 10 acres of our own land for you to explore and easy access to Snowdonia public foothpaths, it is perfect for those looking to spend some time in nature. The cabin itself features private hot tub, wet room, underfloor heating, large deck with bbq, kingsize bed, kitchen, living and dining area and a private cinema.
*Our cabin is very popular and if it’s full for your dates we have another equally wonderful place to stay ‘The Barn Owl’. Find it by clicking on our host profile photo* Our cabin is a nature lovers retreat for those looking for an adventure on foot or 2 wheels, or merely an escape from hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's located in the heart of Snowdonia, surrounded by native ancient forest and the wildlife it supports, nothing but the sound of the river and birdsong. After leaving your car at the garage, make the rest of your journey on foot, a short walk over a bridge by a waterfall and up a tree lined track up towards the cabin. The cabin is a long stone's throw from the main house but enjoys complete privacy through it's own gate and is hidden amongst trees and shrubs. It comprises large furnished deck complete with hot tub, perfect for relaxing in nature and under the stars. Inside there is underfloor heating, kingsize bed, fully equipped kitchen & dining area, wet room and large comfy couch on which to enjoy a full cinema experience. *From mid March we will be changing our hot tub from an electric to a wood fired tub. We think you’ll agree it’s a cut above as we have learned from our other Airbnb rental :) * The cabin is a perfect way to explore this part of Snowdonia, the surrounding area is crisscrossed with walkers paths and bike trails, there are outdoor pursuits galore from surfing to zip wiring over the slate mines. Snowdon itself is close for more great walking, as is Coed y Brenin for mountain biking and Bala for watersports or simply amble through nearby forests, by beautiful rivers and lakes. On a sunny day, the beautiful white sandy beaches of Harlech, Borth y Gest and the Llyn Peninsula are all within a short drive away. Now for the basics, we provide bedding and towels, small welcome pack (for 3+ nights). Eco-sensitive toiletries are provided which we encourage you to use. The cabin comfortably accommodates 2 adults and a further 2 small children or babies and we can supply travel cot, blow up bed and high chair. The cabin has full cinema experience and we have an extensive library for you to choose from. We are both keen walkers and can supply maps or advice on the many local hikes. You can even borrow 'Jake' - our perfect dog - if you promise to take him for a walk!!
Our nearest neighbour is well over 1/2 a mile away. It's you, the trees, the birds and the stars. There are nearby towns of Blaenau Ffestiniog and Porthmadog for your supplies and various pub food and restaurant options. We are also close by to Portmeirion Village.
  • Excellent place already booked our return! Thanks so much!

  • Myself and my partner recently spent a week in the cabin, along with our 8 month old puppy. The space is gorgeous - clean, warm and full of thoughtful little touches like prosecco, popcorn and dressing gowns for after the hot tub. Now I mention it the hot tub was amazing - we saw 5 shooting stars whilst relaxing one night and plenty of secure space for the dog to run about. Mark and Lindsay are welcoming and helpful hosts - definitely recommenda stay for anyone needing an escape from the real world!

    Jessica2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cabin, location and hosts!

    Metin2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. Such a lovely cosy retreat in the heart of the beautiful landscape. From the moment we arrived we fell in love with the place. So much so that on the second morning we had already booked for our next trip there. The cabin is perfect, from the hot tub on the deck to to the lovely comfy bed it couldn't be faulted. The hardest part of the stay was choosing which film to watch from the brilliant DVD collection.. can't recommend enough.

    John2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Lindsay are lovely hosts and great at communicating, very helpful. This is the best air bnb I’ve stayed at! Even staying during the storm we had a lovely time. The cabin is beautiful, and the hot tub and surrounding area is amazing. We found a few treats left for us, and Mark and Lindsay were really quick at responding to any questions, never seeming like we were hassling them. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. We managed a few hours walking despite the stormy weather (storm Ciara) and the area is really nice. Being in an ancient oak woodland in a hot tub even in bad weather and being able to cosy up with a home cinema screen (blue ray collection is great), is awesome. Highly recommend ‘Us’ if you like to be a bit scared. No complaints at all.

    Anthony2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed here with our dog. All three of us felt well catered for. The cabin has everything you need and extras from Mark and Lindsay that make your stay even better. We loved the enclosed area so our dog could roam around safely whilst we soaked in the hot tub after long walks that were recommended by the hosts. We were provided with so much info about the surrounding areas. It really is a one of a kind kinda place!

    Stevie-Leigh2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, great countryside, well worth a stay

    Jake2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Lindsay’s cabin is a must for anyone looking to escape the rat race. Hidden away in a picturesque valley, the cabin is in an ideal location for rest and recuperation. My partner and I had 3 perfect days, making the most of the walk maps left behind by Mark and Lindsay. It’s ideal for little ones too, as our daughter loved watching the sheep and spending time at the local waterfalls. The evenings were extra special for us, spending time relaxing in the hot tub, staring at the stars, miles from any light pollution or noise. We will certainly visit again!!!!!

The cabin is located in stunning scenery, nestled midway between Carningli Mountain, Ty-Canol ancient oak woodland & the foothills of the Preselis & only 3 miles from the sea. With an outdoor hot tub, it's easy to kick back and relax.
Our fully insulated wooden cabin is just a couple of miles from Newport, Pembrokeshire. The cabin perches on the top of one of a series of 3 nearby mounds (the origin of which is still unclear, but you can see the other two from the garden) and over looks stunning scenery. The building is sunny, warm, light and airy, with a woodburning stove for when the weather is cooler. The water is heated by solar panels and a log boiler down in the main house. The hotub and garden has lovely views and you can sit back and enjoy incredible sunsets behind carningli mountain. Guests and friends often tell us that they have not slept and relaxed so well for a long time. Maybe it's because there are very few places left in Britain where you cannot hear the hum of a busy road or the sound of vehicles every few minutes. Here at the cosy Cabin, the small lanes are extremely quiet and you are completely surrounded by nature. All around you are hills, mountains, wooded valleys, streams and great mature oaks, ash and sycamore. Except for the neighbouring farm buildings, you could easily believe that you are tens of miles from civilisation; yet just over the side of Carningli (the rocky ancient volcano you can see from the garden) and only 3 miles away is the small bustling town of Newport. Newport is a tiny town that has an incredible variety of attractions including farmers market (on Mondays), award winning cafes, pubs and restaurants, local shops and art galleries and of course the sea with a beautiful sandy beach, cliff walks and sandunes. Before going into more detail I need to be clear on the location and type of property this is. The cabin has a compost loo which is a dry system that works without a flush, where the waste is converted into fertile soil for the apple trees. The loo does not smell bad in case you were wondering, but is not the same as a flush toilet. Access to the cabin involves some steep steps and a slightly uneven path with some leaves and loose small stones. It is not a modern set-up with a tarmac driveway with all the latest mod-cons (unless you're talking super comfortable beds, cooking, showering and hotub!) The best thing to do before booking is read through a number of reviews as well as much of the description as possible to get a feel for the place to make sure it's right for you. The cabin is open plan with a large curtain to separate the downstairs bedroom. There is a king size bed downstairs and a double mattress upstairs, and a travel cot if needed. We only make up the downstairs bed when there is one person or a couple staying, but if you'd prefer to sleep upstairs, just let us know before your stay. There is an electric shower and heated towel rail in the bathroom. The garden has chairs and there is a veranda for undercover outside dining. The outdoor electric hot tub is partly powered by the solar panels in the garden (as is the whole cabin), and it is hot and ready to use all the time. We will need access to the hot tub to check the levels, change filters etc if needed, but we always try to do this while guests are out. While we do provide a set of towels (one bath towel and one hand towel per guest), it might be an idea to bring an extra towel for the hot tub, and maybe a dressing gown. Some slip on shoes would also be useful for going between the cabin and the hot tub. As we are out in the sticks, mobile service is intermittent, but most networks can get signal somewhere, even if it means a trip to the garden or short walk into the field. There is no landline or internet in the cabin. We have been toying with the idea of getting the cabin connected, however, every single guest (even those that were expecting wifi) have told us at the end of their stay they were so happy not be distracted by their mobile phones, email etc. And that their experience was so much richer for it that we should definitely not introduce it... being cut off from social media addiction for even just a few days is incredibly relaxing and refreshing and is so rare these days. It is easy to forget how good for the mind the experience of spending quality time together, reading, playing games, talking and being able to completely relax is. So if you are worried about being off screen for a few days, don't be, as it really does make for a fantastic experience. Many of the pubs etc in newport do have free wifi if you do need to get online. If you would like to have a tv with DVD player please enquire and we should be able to provide without issue The cabin is self catering, and the kitchen is fully equipped, with a fridge, kettle, toaster and an induction cooker and Samsung oven which are super efficient and a pleasure to use. Some basics are provided, like salt, pepper, some herbs and spices and cooking oil. There will be complimentary tea and coffee (ground, for the caffetiere). There is no washing machine, but I would be happy to do a wash for you at a cost of £2 a load. We also have a dryer, which would be an extra £2, but there is also a drying line outside the cabin. Newport has a launderette too, opposite the Golden Lion pub. Bedding and bathroom towels are provided. If it's raining, there is a fantastic new local cafe in Newport called Pwnc that has an indoor climbing wall free for cafe customers and great for kids. there are also great indoor theme parks like Blue Lagoon etc. not too far away, and the hotub can be fun in the rain. There are a host of other fair weather types of activities close at hand too.
North Pembrokeshire is much quieter than the south and has a unique combination of rocky outcrops, stunning beaches and coastal path, wooded valleys and enclaves, friendly neighbours and a night sky with hardly any light pollution, resulting in a fantastic the view of the stars. The more well-known stunning beaches of Newport, Poppit and Whitesands are interspersed with little gems that are much quieter and actually often much more beautiful such as Cwm Yr Eglwys only a few miles away. The neighbourhood is a mix of traditional welsh farmers, smallholdings and people that have chosen a sustainable path and live off the land (this includes communities such as Lammas and Brithdir Mawr, as well as groups of families that share giant vegetable growing plots and a cow where each household takes a turn at milking!), stone farmhouses and cottages interspersed with hobbit style dwellings and homes made from natural materials. The Gwaun Valley that starts at our property is a sight in itself. Its vast densely wooded sides leads down to a welsh community that has culturally changed very little for centuries. They still celebrate their own new year, have a primary school still running strong with only 24 pupils in total and have a pub that is old as they come and only serve beer from jugs. There are plenty of beautiful sights and places of interest within walking distance along beautiful winding quiet backroads. The large organically farmed field next door with the large oak tree atop an ancient mound is ours and provides a stunning short walk or sports/activity ground (we have football nets to borrow), depending on the livestock! Ty canol woods (less than 1 mile away) is home to an ancient stunted oak woodland, rocky outcrops and carpeted in mosses and lichens, it is like walking into a fairytale book. The woods lead on to the larger rocky outcrops of Carnau meibion Owen which looks out to the preseli hills and also the ancient burial chamber of Pentre Ifan. The heather strewn slopes of Carningli mountain (less than 1 mile away) are well worth a climb, the views from on top are spectacular. Newport has a stunning large sandy beach with dunes and is great for swimming. The town of Newport has become famous for its array of great cafes, restaurants and shops including a wholefood shop, butchers, hardware store, fishmongers (specialising in locally caught fish), pharmacy, newsagents, craft collective, antique centre, Spar and a local produce market on a Monday morning. Our closest neighbours (300 yards ish), Simon and Kerry at Tyriet farm have opened a micro brewery (Bluestone brewing co.), and you can drop in and pick up a bottle or three of their finest ales.
  • Maya and Robyn are great hosts, they welcomed us warmly, showed around the cabin. It was straight forward from that moment, we didn’t need too much from them, but we knew they are there if there is any help needed. The best thing is - no WiFi, no signal, no tv - everything you need to spend couple of nights away - board games, hot tub and talking to your other half! Such a refreshing experience in this very fast world! You won’t regret booking this place!

    Balazs2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Maya and Robin’s place. It’s cosy and in a beautiful spot. We received great local tips from Robin and just loved the area. Newport is a really pretty little town and has lots of nice cafes and places to walk; the views over it from Carningli hill were amazing (one of Robin’s tips). There’s some info on the listing which you should read before staying, such as there not being any WiFi which might not be appreciated by everyone, but I’m pretty sure it contributed to how well I slept the entire time I was here and how relaxed I felt. I also loved that there was a cupboard full of board games to get stuck into, and the hot tub was perfect.

    Rhiannon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place. Stand out features were the amazing location, gorgeous little cabin with a brilliant wood burning stove and a fantastic hottub. Also nice to have plenty of wood provided, real coffee in the kitchen and the hottub was properly hot!

    Sophie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the hut! It was perfect for a country side get away, with a lovely town near by on the coast. Even though it was winter the hut was so toasty and warm with the wood burner. There was loads of amenities and we were able to cook. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, would really recommend and would love to go back. Lydia

    Lydia2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place really is a gem. Hidden away you really do feel in your own world. The hot tub is amazing! With beautiful views and countryside as far as you can see. The accommodation is beautiful. It’s bigger than the pictures show. All the amenities you need. Bliss to have no signal, no Wi-if, no Tv. Just books and relaxation. If you want to have a few days away from a hectic work life this is perfect. Host was very accommodating when we had to move dates and very responsive. Two beautiful cats give us a visit too!

    James2020-02-11T00:00:00Z

    Joshua2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you want superb accommodation, friendly hosts and a place to truly unwind then this is the place for you

    Carl2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was greeted warmly by Maya and Robin and given a tour of the cabin and some great advice of local walks. The cabin is beautiful and has everything you need. The fire keeps the place warm for hours. Having a compost loo inside is a massive bonus, not having to trudge across a field in the rain and cold in the middle of the night is great! I spent two evenings sat in the hot tub, looking at the stars and listening to owls hooting. What more could you want. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful little thatch roofed barn with stunning views of the Llyn peninsula. The barn is complete with an open plan kitchen/living area a crog loft bedroom with a double bed and small bathroom including a shower. Guests have access to a private decking with gas BBQ.
A traditional cruck framed thatch roofed barn restored using natural and local materials
  • If you want to get away from the grind of daily life, this is for you. The barn is tucked away behind the farmhouse, fenced off for privacy with stunning views of the hills and the Irish Sea. Be prepared for some tight roads on the way in and around the place, but also be prepared for the stunning scenery on your drive to the barn. Hells mouth is a very short drive as is Abersoch. We took prepared food with us but there are local shops on the way in and a Spar just a few minutes drive away. If you're lucky the chickens from next door come out in the morning and sneak under the fence to see whats going on.

  • Amazing setting for a quiet, relaxing break. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Lots of lovely walks right on your doorstop. It’s a beautiful part of the world and the little barn was such a cosy, comfortable place to enjoy it all from. We were sad to leave.

  • An amazing little place to go for a weekend! Went with my boyfriend for a late valentines trip and arrived to a spotless, really warm and comfortable space to stay in the cold weather. Has everything you would need to cook your own meals as we did, and tons of information about the surrounding area, although we opted to stay in most of our stay as the February weather wasn’t the best. Really cozy environment, beautifully decorated, and amazing views from outside. We will definitely look at coming back!

  • Good communication from the host and beautiful location

  • This place is idyllic. We stayed during some truly terrible weather and still had a wonderful time. You definitely need your own means of transportation but it's a great jumping off point for the Llyn Peninsula and beyond.

  • The Little Thatch Barn is a little gem, beautiful location (even in a storm!), lovely surroundings. We could have stayed a lot longer and were sad to leave. We would love to have explored the area further so will have to come back! Lovely comfy bed and everything you could need in the kitchen, good shower and completely private non overlooked space with stunning views, especially from the decking. Just magical.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole and that means comfort.
Thank you so much to everyone that has stayed and left such lovely reviews. Yes it's a small space but everyone seems to have enjoyed staying. We've certainly enjoyed it ourselves a couple of times (well we had to test it didn't we!) Nowhere else can you stay with a view like this from your comfortable bed! We are only 15 minutes from Hay on Wye and the perfect place to stay during the Hay festival. The Hobbit House has a wood-fired cooker so that you can cook your own meals and there is running water just outside. A large sofabed folds out to a full-sized double bed with a deep comfortable mattress. All bedding etc provided. Dinner and breakfast can be provided at extra cost - how about a nice hearty stew in a slow-cooker ready for you to arrive, with fresh bread warming in the Hobbit House's wood-fired oven? We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends) PLEASE NOTE: 95% of people have loved staying here, but it isn't to everyone's tastes. it IS small. it does have a sofa bed rather than a proper bed. The bathroom is down in our house and although it is for your exclusive use, it is a 30 second walk away. This is glamping, not luxury. But if that suits you then you'll have an amazing time.
A Hobbit House in the middle of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. I think that's pretty unique don't you?!
  • We spent 2 nights in the hobbit house and it was fantastic! Tin supplier fire wood which was amazing as it was freezing cold!!! Any young couples looking for a quirky weekend away and like having adventures this is the place for you.

  • The hobbit house really is small, but it's also gorgeous. We were very cosy once the fire was going and had everything we needed. We cooked all our meals on the wood-fired stove which is a wonderful way to cook! We cheated and used our camping stove for coffee in the morning when we weren't patient enough for the fire to get going. The location is superb, with beautiful views and excellent walks right on the doorstep: we didn't quite make it up Waun Fach due to high winds but had a wonderful walk nonetheless culminating in a delicious pint in the Dragon's Back pub. And there are loads of fantastic walks within a short driving distance. Talgarth is just a short drive away for getting in some supplies, and there is a short but beautiful walk with impressive waterfalls right next to the town. The whole area was pretty muddy when we were there so be prepared if it's been raining!

  • What a fun place to stay, one of a kind! We loved spending the night in your Hobbit House, especially our 3 year old who had a blast! She especially loved Bear and helping keep an eye on the fire. It was a great addition to our adventures in Wales, just walking up to it was exciting with our tour guide, Bear the dog! The milk and chocolate was a lovely surprise too, thank you very much for a unique place to rest our heads.

  • Amazing place to stay. Tin is very informative and quick to respond. Thank you for a great stay

  • Amazing place, truly magical. The surrounding areas are fabulous and Bear is a super extra host! The place was super clean, the fire was fab and the brochures were really helpful. Would definitely recommend a local pub called the Farmers Arms for some reasonably priced but amazing food :) 10/10 will stay again!

  • I sent my brother and his wife to the hobbit hole as a present!! They absolutely loved it.

  • Booked this lovely weekend away for my partners Birthday, we really enjoyed our stay it's very cosey in the hobbit house :) we will definitely be going back again soon! There is also so much to do with beautiful wallks and surroundings.

    Rebecca2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Booked the hobbit house as a treat to my friend for her birthday as she’s obsessed with the films and going to see the real one. We had a little trouble with the front door when first getting there as a little stiff but once I managed to get hold of tin it was absolutely perfect! Couldn’t have wished for more, the pub across the road is very friendly and has decent food. Lots of great walks to do (just bring good walking boots as we didn’t plan that part well). We didn’t get to meet tin and Rosie but were very helpful when we reached out. Bear was lovely and is just the sweetest! Would definitely recommend!

  • This was hands-down the highlight of our weeklong trip to the UK. Mez was incredibly hospitable and friendly. It was great talking to him, and it was clear that he was happy to take the time to be an amazing host. The house is perfect in every way--we didn't want to leave! We took a great hike on his property at the end. We can't wait to return and spend far longer at this incredible home/farm.

  • The perfect way to get back to nature, no phones, just beautiful Welsh countryside.

    Jane2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful ... complete retreat away from everything ... you can’t help relax. Red hot outdoor bath was superb ... the log cabin was super cosy with an excellent nostalgic selection of VHS. Stuart gave us a lift to the dam due to weather conditions with excellent advice on the return walk home ... great hospitality and a must to ‘get away from it all’.

  • My partner and I drove for 6 hours to reach Stuarts place for a one night stay, but it was worth every minute of the drive. Following Stuarts direction to the property made finding the accomodation a breeze. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of Pinot, pleasant conversation, followed by a tour of the grounds. We unfortunately arrived during storm Dennis, so as expected the pathways were very muddy and slippery, but this did not spoil our experience, the cabins have stunning views of the river that runs through Stuarts land, it has to be seen to be believed. We stayed in the main cabin, it is far from a shed but a properly built log cabin that kept us dry and warm! The whole place is very cute and cosy. The kitchen was well supplied with plates and cooking accessories and the bedroom has a small TV with a big choice of VHS to choose from Bathing outside in the storm is an experience I will never forget, and bathing in the skypod in the morning with the river running directly in front of you is simply amazing. Stuarts house is closer than it appears in photos, however it is downhill of the cabins offering privacy. When we checked out we were kindly offered a cup of tea which we turned down as we had a long drive ahead, however Stuart made a point of insisting we visit the Lake and Dam, and we are thrilled he did so, as this was simply stunning. We can't wait to experience Stuarts property again in the warmer and dryer weather!.

  • Had a brilliant time away at Stuarts place! Definitely recommend this to my friends and family, beautiful place with the most beautiful surroundings, would come back again in a heart beat! Great time, and super host!

  • Stuart's cabins were a perfect rustic place to get away from the city. He was a great host, making a fire for us and providing excellent local tips! It was nice to have a taste of outdoors on our visit to Whales.

    Michelle2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart is a very attentive, friendly and helpful host. The place is set in a beautiful location. The cabins are warm and comfortable. The outdoor bath was an amazing experience. It is a wonderful place for those who love outdoor living, perfect balance between rustic and comfortable. Highly recommend. Thank you!

Mawddach Cabin situated above the famous Mawddach estuary in the Snowdonia National Park. Hot tub with breath taking views and access to a private beach Pets allowed Very private and only 3-4mile drive from seaside town Barmouth Hot tub will be situated on a balcony overlooking the sea
  • What a great experience! First time we had stayed in a pod. It was really cosy and with the radiator on it didn't feel like a log cabin at all! It was fun cooking on a gas stove and when I daftly thought we had run out of gas, Ali very sweetly directed me to "look under the sink" and there were plenty more. Her husband even came and brought us more! We were well looked after and very cosy. The hot tub was an absolute treat! Never felt so relaxed in my life. Sadly couldn't use it the next day as the winds were pretty strong but we expected that in March. For dog owners, it's worth bearing in mind that the sheep roam freely so keep the dog on a lead. We had no problems at all but just thought it might be good to know. Thank you for a brilliant experience!

    Gina2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little pod in a secluded area, lovely views from the hot tub which was all ready for us when we got there. Check in was super easy. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Barmouth, the Last Inn serves delicious food! Will definitely be back!

    Ellie-Frances2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Great secluded location and Ali sent us a video of how to find the place a few weeks before which was really helpful. Hot tub was amazing looking out over the bay. Will definitely be staying again

  • Amazing night away for my partners birthday. Even considered booking an extra night whilst there. Communication was great with Ali - before and during the stay. Looking forward to visiting in the summer and enjoying the private beach. Top tip for future stayers: use the hot water bottles as plate warmers ;)

    Shane2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, quiet and secluded spot overlooking the water. Cosy and comfortable little cabin with everything you could need for a short stay. Hot tub was warm and ready for use when we arrived. Faultless easy check in and out system and the hosts provided easy to follow written and video directions to the location prior to our stay which was much appreciated. Would definitely visit again.

  • We had an amazing night away here at snowdonia! A lovely cosy lodge, with an incredible view!! Just our luck that we went during a bad storm- so we couldn’t use the hot tub, we will be back in summer to make full use of the hot tub.

Come and visit our beautiful, restored wagon, high on a peaceful, off-grid hill. For walkers or cyclists, romantic breaks or retreats in nature; this is perfect for adventures or simply relaxing on the deck with a cup of tea heated by hydro power. Cosy all year round with wood burning stove and kitchenette, it has all you need for a relaxing stay. Holistic massage is available in the farmhouse for that added touch of luxury and relaxation, if the peace, quiet and the birdsong is not enough!
Getting away from it all is easier than you may think, in this surprising little carriage perched on a secluded hill. It is a unique space in many ways, but I can describe to you some of our favourites! The carriage is on the land of a working smallholding and community. The farmhouse has several people living and sharing the garden, and we are completely off-grid, with our own fresh water supply, and self-contained small hydro system with solar backup to provide all our electricity. The carriage itself is made from a guards wagon. Before braking could be done remotely from the engine, a guard traveled in this wagon, and would have had to manually brake all of the carriages when necessary. When technology advanced, these wagons were sold off to farmers by the railways, as well-built sheds and cabins. This one was winched to the top of our hill and renovated, and we are very excited to be sharing it! Ideal for retreats, romantic breaks, or for a base on a walking or cycling trip, the carriage is close enough to civilization to be convenient (the market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away) but also remote enough to really, truly relax. I also have a treatment room in the house, so if you would like to book in for a Holistic Massage as part of your holiday, just let me know and I'll be very happy to see you. The farmhouse who's land the carriage is on, is the only dwelling on this side of the mountain, so if peace is what you are looking for then you have come to the right place. However civilization is close at hand! The charming market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away, and has a vibrant community and enough shops to get you everything you need. There are plenty of popular attractions, for example the Centre for Alternative Technology for those interested in treading more lightly, the Dyfi bike park for downhill enthusiasts is right next door, or the Dyfi Osprey Project, a breeding site for ospreys. We are nestled in the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park, so there is plenty of exploring for walkers and cyclists to do- Cadair Idris is one of my favourite mountains and it's only 15 minutes away... We are 1.5 miles from the A487 near Machynlleth, up a forestry track- fairly well maintained but with a smattering of potholes, for the rally driver in us all. Full, easy directions will be sent upon booking! There is space to park, with a short walk (1 minute) up a fairly steep hill with steps, so please consider if you can manage this before booking! I lived up here without a car for 10 years, and it is certainly possible to manage. Trains come regularly to Machynlleth from the Shrewsbury / Birmingham direction, and from Machynlleth there is a good bus service coming to Pantperthog. It is a 25 minute walk (again, uphill!) to get to the carriage from the bus stop. Of course there is always the taxi- from Machynlleth it costs £10. I can provide their details upon booking. We live off-grid! We think this is pretty amazing, and love being self-sufficient in power and water. But it does mean that sometimes, when it's been really dry for ages, or when things go a bit wrong, we may need to be careful with how much power we use. Occasionally it means the peace will be broken by a couple of hours of our noisy old diesel generator charging the batteries if there has been some problem, or us using the chainsaw for a while to cut our (and your!) firewood. It means we'll sometimes have to ask you to use the gas instead of the electric kettle, and to avoid using hairdryers or similar high power luxury items. Apart from these rare events it shouldn't create any inconveniences, just a warm fuzzy feeling that during your stay you are having barely any impact on your environment, and a great example of how the eco lifestyle can work! Good outdoor shoes or wellies, and slippers are also a good idea as I do provide some but your own may be preferable.

  • I booked the Train Carriage on the Hill as a surprise for my boyfriend's 40th birthday. I think he was a little bit shocked when he realised there was a composting toilet and a separate shower and in fairness, Meg does advise against surprising anyone. But once he stepped inside the carriage he fell in love with the space, as did I. It's so much more spacious than the photos suggest and the bed is really comfy and cosy. It took a little while to master the log burner and get used to nipping outside to the loo, but we soon settled in. The view was stunning when there was a break in the clouds. And to top it off we saw 3 jets on the Mach Loop, which was why we came to this part of Wales. A truly memorable birthday.

    Michelle2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely view from the decking area which also contains a mini fire pit where wood is provided near the entrance to the farm house. The wood burning stove was great and the pillows provided were like resting your head on a cloud! The sink is located outside which can be quite chilly washing dishes and yourself if you dont have the weather :)

    Laura Elise2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Prepare for the most wonderful night/s stay at the carriage! We stayed the night storm Ciara arrived and were well and truly snug, warm and safe. Perfect hosts and the perfect little get away. Definitely a place we want to return to.

    Helen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place up on the hills, with spectacular views to wake up to. We loved our beautifully decorated little home for the night. So cosy with the fire blazing, the fairy lights on and a glass of wine in hand! It was blowing a gale outside but it was quiet, comfy and toasty in the carriage. Pure peace and privacy, and a great place to reconnect with nature. We definitely hope to be back this year for longer.

    Katie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing little getaway! Amazing views of the welsh mountains, from the warmth of a log fire cabin. Meg was fantastic, so friendly and hospitable. We went for dinner in the local pub and that was delicious. The only drawback was that the cabin can’t be locked from the inside, which is easily overlooked when taking into consideration the incredible location. Definitely will be returning!

  • We loved Paddleboard Cottage. The perfect location to explore beautiful Anglesey. Despite a wild and wet weekend, we were cosy and warm in the cute and beautifully styled cottage and even a managed some time in the hot tub looking at the gorgeous view over the Menai Straight. Nicki was indeed a super host. Thanks very much.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Paddleboard Cottage. The cottage itself is great: well-equipped, comfortable and clean, and in a great location for exploring the area. Nicki was really welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were staying there during Storm Ciara and Nicki very kindly braved the elements to come and check we were ok and to see if we needed any supplies to see us through the weather! We would definitely recommend Nicki and Paddleboard Cottage to anyone looking to stay in the area, and are hoping to return ourselves very soon!

  • Paddleboard Cottage is the ideal retreat if you love the natural world. It has the perfect location, off the beaten track but close to amenities. The clean interior is well laid out, not over fussy and has everything one could need. We enjoyed our trips out then returning to the comfort of Paddleboard Cottage. Nikki was an excellent hosts responding to emails and keeping us informed/updated. She let us know that we could arrive earlier than the stated time, this was handy in January. The Cottage was toastie warm and there was a lovely vase of tulips on the table. We will return to Paddleboard, we love Anglesey it has much to offer nature lovers.

Clogau Shepheards Hut situated alongside the famous Mawddach estuary in the Snowdonia National Park. Hot tub with breath taking views and access to a private beach. Pets allowed BBQ Indoor log burner 5 mins from seaside town Barmouth
  • Great place to visit with amazing views!

    Andrew2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This Sheppard hut was beautiful, however that view is amazing. Only fault I found was that the view is blocked with gorse bushes when your sat in the hot tub. I recommend they be cut down or just cut enoughso that you can see that view. Apart from that we will be back again. One night wasn't enough. We were greeted in the morning by a big horse, very friendly.

  • Lovely place, really great stay. The views are absolutely incredible and we truly lucked out with the weather. It was our first weekend away to Wales, and was totally worth it. We popped down to Barmouth (The Royal Hotel) is a must! Thank you for a wonderful stay! We even met the local sheep and pony :) Thank you!

  • The location of the Shepard's hut is wonderful. A dip in that hot tub in under the stars, surrounded be fairy lights was a totally magical experience. Ali provided detailed directions which made it super easy to find. The hut was comfy and cosy, with lots of thoughtful touches that made it feel like home.

  • Loved the Shepherds Hut, what a secluded & peaceful location. The hot tub was amazing, so relaxing. The bed was much bigger than we thought too. Thank you for arranging roses (Valentines Day) via my boyfriend who proposed further down the coast! This place will always have a special place in my heart and we will be most definitely be back.

  • What a lovely relaxing place to stay. We didn’t want to come home!!!! Susan and Peter were very welcoming and accommodating. We had a lovely little welcome hamper on arrival too, very thoughtful and kind. The cottage was clean, comfortable and cosy. We wanted for nothing, the cottage has great facilities and we really enjoyed our evenings relaxing by the log burner. We loved the secluded location and the grounds and gardens were very pretty. We even spotted a family of deer a few times on our return. Perfect place for exploring the local area and it’s beautiful. We did some lovely forest and waterfall walks, loved every moment. We really did have a fabulous 4 days here and would like to stay again in the summer if work allows.

My place is close to RHAYADER and THE ELAN VALLEY also adjoining THE GILFACH NATURE RESERVE. You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the peacefulness of been able to have the freedom to walk and explore our hills of mid wales, straight from your door..and only 45 mins to visit the seaside of Aberystwth.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
..PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE THE HOT TUB in advance of booking your (URL HIDDEN) due to the high demand on the hot tubs, i would need to make sure there is one available for you... so i must know prior to you booking ..and you can pay when you are with us £50 for your entire stay with us The Hide Away Ranch is a unique and very fortunate place, it is situated in 400 acres of magnificent views overlooking the wye valley, it has been stated its like been on "top of the world" it rises up to 1400 ft on the tops, with amazing views, walks and rides, ideal for star gazing in the evenings and watching the sun setting over the rolling hills, while the wildlife is active all around you. You can ramble around the hills at your leisure finding all the sources of the lovely little steams which trickle down through our countryside., where many moons ago the pilgrims would walk to the source of these lovely crystal streams, to collect the so said" holy water" in the pilgrims ampullae. We have been very lucky in finding one ..Then to take the water back to heel sick people from their ailments. We are also neighbouring our local nature reserve, which has got nature trials and all the information about our native wildlife in our area, they also do childrens activities if you log on to the Gilfach Nature Reserve. You are welcome to bring your own mountain bikes, motor bikes, off road vehicles where you can go and enjoy the stunning views at your own leisure, or if you just want to chill, and sit out on the veranda with your glass of wine!! to watch the magnificent birds and wildlife go about their very busy lives. you are now, also able to hire a hot tub if you so desired at an extra cost from a little company in our local market town, they come out the day before you arrive set it all up for you to jump in on your arrival ..Please note.... the hideaway ranch is situated in the beautiful, countryside, there is no wi fi and you may find your phone signals are limited in areas, but the best of it is that you only need to go 10 mins down the road and you are back into (URL HIDDEN) you have the best of both worlds.. If you find that the dates you require for your break, have already gone The Hideaway Ranch does have two further sister properties " Hide Away House" Rhayader which has installed .. A Red Cedar Wood Far Infared Saunas well as its own log burner and hottub.. it sleeps up to 8 people.. and also The Hide Away Sunrise Sunset yurt which is also with Airbnb and is situated in the same 400 acre Estate..with its own log burner and hottub
Rhayader is a little market town in MID wales ,we think is an unfound area, we have the stunning Elan Valley Dams on our doorstep , where you can go pony treking, mountain biking, walking, fishing, canoeing off roading nature trials and activities for the children to learn about the countrysides of mid wales .. watch the red kites feeding without the hustle and bustle of too many people.. It is a must place to visit, with the little quaint 1600 c country inns, for those lovely Welsh Black Steaks and welsh lamb cutlets locally sourced with a pint of the real welsh ales xx
  • Suzie’s place was fab. Wake up to an amazing view, walk your (& the dog’s) legs off and then relax in the hot tub without having to touch the car! For those wanting to go a little further we found the Elan Valley beautiful and full of great walks. Suzie was on hand with some great tips for what to do & ensuring we were perfectly happy throughout. Can’t recommend highly enough for a rural getaway! We’d definitely come back,

  • Suzanne is such a lovely host! Beautiful place and surroundings. Helped us out, being in on the surprise birthday! Thanks so much x

    Emmie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was my second stay at Suzies place, and it was just as good, if not better than last time. The views as always were outstanding, even with the random weather conditions. The layout of the ranch had changed since last time, but worked well. No Wi-Fi, but Vodafones network was strong. Three's network was completely useless, couldn't even get a text through. Would 100% recommend to anyone else!

    Joseph2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, beautiful surroundings. A real chance to get away from it all. X

    Ruth2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly had the most gorgeous stay here, myself and my friends (and our dogs!) adored our time at the hideaway and we all feel the host went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The stunning views were indescribable and we had some great walks. Our days were made even better by being able to kick back and relax in the lovely big hot tub which was super easy to work. The place felt so cosy, with an abundance of little touches that made us feel so at home. Thank you so much Suzanne, we could not recommend you more!

    Talia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay. I rented the Ranch for a surprise trip for my boyfriends birthday. I highly suggest hiring the hot tub too because it was such a great touch! The drive up to the ranch through the lane was a little hairy in my Mini (full car), but it made it! So just have a little faith and rev that engine. That said - we did choose to come when Storm Dennis was 'a raging so that added to the atmosphere too! Suzanne is such a great host, came to show us around and provided advise on spots to visit. You'll need a car to go into the villages but there are 400 acres to walk from the Ranch so you have plenty of AMAZING and I truly mean incredible views. Take a camera or a flask of tea and just bask in the beauty that you are surrounded by. You won't be disappointed. My only note of warning - if it rains, bring some games with you if you don't want to go outside in the wet. TV is not a selling point. But do not let that stop you from booking an adventure here! Highly recommend!

    Carolanne2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location with the most homely feeling ranch I have ever stayed in. Even have a beautiful view from the hot tub! Can't reccomend this place enough!

  • A wonderful stay and lovely cabin! We stayed for one night and would have loved to stay for more. Suzie is amazing and accommodating and gave us such a warm welcome with great tips for food and the local area. The hot tub is a plus and was great on a cold winters night. Little Hourstones (named after the adjacent field) is a bespoke and modern A Frame cabin set in a quiet corner of our idyllic organic farm. The interior is light and airy with everything that you might need for a short stay whilst the outside benefits from a fantastic veranda and private hot tub.
Little Hourstones is just a 5-8 minute walk from the centre of the market town of Kington where you can get all of your essentials: There are at least 8 pubs to choose from as well a supermarkets, cafes, coffee shops and other independents supplying everything from local cheeses to antiques.
  • Lovely space, small, but 4 of us close friends had a great, comfortable time. Hot tub is brilliant and cute decor. Thanks!

    Sammo2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had such an amazing stay, the cabin was very clean and comfortable, there was an amazing hot tub that is built into the ground which was easy access to get into. Perfect location and great company from the animals from the farm. Will highly recommend to anyone looking for a weekend stay. Definitely will be returning.

    Samantha2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was absolutely beautiful! The building itself is so stunning and the inside matches this too - lovely and modern but with a cosy feel - it looks exactly like the pictures but also somehow better at the same time. The chickens that walk around really make the trip even better, they are such characters, and there are some lovely horses in the field next to the cabin also. We had a great surprise, as the hot tub has been upgraded and has now been built into the decking instead - so so nice and the perfect way to spend the evening. The only downside was that we couldn’t find the remote to turn on the beautiful bulb lights that frame the outside of the cabin, so we didn’t get to see these in person. The hosts were super quick to respond if I needed to ask anything. We absolutely loved our stay, it was idyllic and I am so sad it’s over already. Definitely hope to return one day and would recommend to anyone. Thank you!

    Aisling2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my boyfriend had an amazing and relaxing time in the cabin. Everything we needed was there, we even received some products for pancake day which was a really lovely touch! The hot tub was a bonus. The place was very clean. The hosts replied to any questions straight away. Both very happy with our stay.

  • Took my Girlfriend here for a surprise birthday present! The place was better than what I expected, living in a cosy tiny house with a hot tub in a field, on a farm with a modern/rustic feel to it. All the kitchen appliances you could need along with fresh bedding and towels supplied. A TV situated in the front living space along with WiFi if your feeling lost, however the scenery and farm animals outside are more than welcoming along with fresh eggs behind the hut from the free roaming chickens. Will 100% be returning in the future!

    Kieran2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was absolutely lovely, way exceeded expectations and was in a lovely rural setting with friendly chickens walking around, fresh eggs and milk provided and horses in the field next to us. The hot tub was a lovely added bonus, the cabin itself was very stylish and kept warm even in such cold conditions, would definitely recommend to anyone and we will be back soon! Thank you so much Will and Mel xx

Kirstie Allsopp's Best of Both worlds programme on Channel 4 featured this romantic getaway for two.
There is something about this thatched cottage that brings out the romance. We have hosted many honeymooners, couples that become engaged while here, and anniversary trips. It is simply lovely and cosy in an architecturally unique building near to the Welsh coast. Our situation provides guests with an excellent base to explore the many local attractions and the Coastal Path. By staying at Ffynnon Oer Isaf you will avoid the tourist crowds while being able to dip into the beach villages (or the water) as you please. Ffynnon Oer is ideally located. We are located on a good road so guests can easily hop in their car for a quick explore. Our guests enjoy the fact that Ffynnon Oer is a “hot spot” (compared to other holiday locations). We offer reliable internet with wi-fi so you can sit on the sofa and plan your next adventure. Most guests receive a decent mobile signal. No worries about having to roam around in a field or hilltop trying to get a signal! On top of all its practical advantages, the cottage itself will be one of the highlights of your trip. Ffynnon Oer Isaf is one of the best surviving examples of an eighteenth century clom cottages in Wales. It is Grade II listed in recognition of its “outstanding architectural interest. “ The cottage was built around 1750, and although there have been alterations, the interior arrangement and many details are original to that time. The “crogloffts” are traditional sleeping platforms that were once common in West Wales, as were wickerwork chimneys such as the one seen here. Apart from doing repair work, no one has built in clom in this area for well over a century. The walls are protected with a traditional limewash and the oak crucks and roof structure are all original and untouched since the eighteenth century. Our gardens are lovely any time of the year. Even in winter, there are over 20 different varieties of snowdrops. The front of the house is planted with a rose and herb garden. Please cut the roses and herbs for your enjoyment. We are dog friendly; however, our garden is not fully enclosed. Canine visitors adore the coastal path or exploring the countryside. Bath towels, bed linens, and bathroom welcome pack are included. The house is situated in a small hamlet of houses. We are near to the beaches of ceredigion, Aberaeron (15 minutes), Llangranog (30 minutes) Lampeter, the Llanerchaeron estate, Aberystwyth (35 minutes) and lovely dining at Ty Mawr Mansion which has been awarded five stars from VisitWales. Paragliding and walking is popular in the area. This property is co-located with another property that sleeps six. Both can be booked at the same time for a large party of eight. Please visit our blog for more photos, latest news and things to do in the area. Airbnb will not allow the posting of a URL. You can find our blog by searching for "Tales from Wales" and the words "spring water cottages" or add my name, "Melise."
Everyone loves the drama of the Welsh coast. The peaceful view of sheep across the meadow and our lovely gardens. View our blog for lots of ideas on what to do and where to eat: search for 'springwater cottages" plus my name, "Melise" to find the blog. Please note: the house name is Ffynnon Oer Isaf. There is a gate at the front that says Ffynnon Oer in the grille work.
  • Our stay at Melise’s place was perfect. Beautiful, quirky little cottage which made our weekend away really interesting. Great cleanliness and a bath in the lovely tub was just what we needed after a wet, windy day before curling up in front of the fire! Thanks for being great hosts - the local information.l was brilliant. Can imagine how beautiful it would be in the Summer with the garden in bloom

    Rachel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

    Emily2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a great stay in your amazing thatched cottage. Very snug, warm and comfortable. We spent happy evenings reading by the log stove, and easily managed to avoid turning on the tv/dvd! Hope to maybe visit again- the coastal walks are excellent.

    Keith2020-02-06T00:00:00Z

A quarry man's cottage at the foot of Snowdon. Fully refurbished in 2015 to provide excellent facilities for couples and young families. Snowdon is at the door and Rhyd Ddu provides good accessibility to a wide range of other activities.
  • Couldn’t have asked for a better location for this cottage. Especially if you are planning on climbing Snowdon via the Rhyd-Ddu path and the Snowdon Rangers path. The cottage is very nice and cosy and our dogs felt very much at home. The place is very clean, warm and tidy with all the necessary amenities. A place to wash and dry your wet walking gear and an outside garden if you are lucky enough with the weather. The village itself is quiet with a nice little pub within a stones throw of the cottage. There is also a forest nearby to get lost in if the mountain weather aren’t suitable for hiking. The host is very accommodating and communication is impeccable.

Relax in our garden house in rural Shropshire. You'll be greeted by curious cats and chickens...and probably Allan and me. There's some fabulous walks, a lovely local and some pretty market towns all within easy reach. There's also plenty to read and lots of interesting CDs to play if you prefer.
Our fabulous wooden chalet is completely self contained...and you can come and go as you please. The chalet comprises a bedroom, a shower room with a loo and a living room. There's also a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and sink. The bed is a double bed and our chalet is most comfortable with one or two guests. We like reading and listening to music so you'll find lots of books, and a wall of CDs in the living room. We can guarantee there'll be music that you've never heard before there. You are, of course, welcome to play the music and read the books but please don't be tempted to take any with you when you leave. There's no TV, but there's WiFi. Oh, and do look up...we hope you like our chandelier.
Snailbeach is small lead mining village in the heart of the South Shropshire hills. The miners have long since left, but the Victorian buildings still stand and are looked after by the Shropshire Mines Trust. From Snailbeach you can explore the Stiperstones, try some splendid real ale in Bishop's Castle or visit Shrewsbury's shops. Or you can throw caution to the winds and go mountain biking. Bring your own bike! Shropshire is such a beautiful place it's hard to know where to start describing the best bits. Come to stay, tell us what you like best and we'll point you in the right direction. Do try to visit our local pub while you're staying, it's great. You'll find some leaflets about the local area and a very fine book written by a local chap detailing walks all over the county. Check out Elsie's walk...she was the village post lady and her daughter lives just across the road. If you're into knitting, there's a Knit'nNatter at the pub on a Tuesday morning (with cake) and some fantastic guerrilla knitting in Bishop's Castle. And there's also a very good Morris dance team there too...
  • Genevieve’s place was great! Full of charm and well located for hiking and walking through the beautiful surroundings! Allan was very helpful and friendly! We definitely recommend!

    Jose2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique, quirky place to say with so many homely and thoughtful touches to welcome you. Astounding scenery in the local area... you can walk up to the Stiperstones literally within a stones throw of the cabin. Hosts provide a wealth of information and their advice is worth heeding to particularly pub recommendations for food and eats. Somewhat chilly in these early months of the year but we can imagine pure bliss in the long summer evenings. A hot water bottle, lots of blankets as well as furry feline friend's and an epic cd collection are a recipe to keep you warm though! Candle lanterns in the trees appeared at the end of each day when we arrived back after our evening meal too!! A home from home! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

    Lucy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time staying in an airbnb and I think the bar has been set high for future stays! When we arrived we were upgraded to the cottage which was absolutely lovely. It was very homely and had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh milk, bread and muffins. We had a great time walking up long mynd and exploring the old mines. It made my partner's birthday very special! Thank you Genevieve and Allan :)

  • We stayed for a night at this lovely chalet, what a hidden gem! Amazing host, lovely atmosphere, incredibly cute cats, very hospitable and all around warm and welcoming environment! 100% would recommend. For the lovers of nature and rural surroundings this place is fantastic. We will definitely come back soon!

  • We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend to everyone, we were a small family with a 8month baby.

    Chris2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet retreat, a short drive from local amenities, right next to the Shropshire way for walks. Interesting to look around the old mine too. Great to have some bread and milk ready and the muffins were delicious!

    Katie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. We really enjoyed the little touches like the lanterns and the muffins (they where delicious!). The shower is amazing and the cabin is incredibly cosy. Recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, quaint getaway surrounded by countryside and friendly hosts.

The Stable is a recently converted barn in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with great views of the sea and fields. It is a good place for couples, solo adventurers, hikers, bird watchers, seal spotters and stargazers who are looking for peace and tranquillity. The spectacular coastal path is a short walk away. The stable is eco-friendly and comfortable with underfloor heating, modern media facilities and a bathroom that has received much praise from our guests.
This 19th century stable was converted to a small house two years ago. It has one bedroom on a mezzanine. It has great views and is located at the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast. It is very quiet here and gets very dark at night.
The Stable is part of Ty Isaf Farm, of which the main farmhouse has not had the restoration it deserves yet. We are not building at the moment. The farm has a private drive off a dead-end road in the pretty hamlet of Llanwnda on the Strumble peninsula.
  • Excellent location for a short break

  • We had a wonderful time staying at Florence's cottage. We wanted a quiet and relaxed weekend and due to storm Ciara we got just that! The roll top bath and walk in shower were well and truly made the most of and as was the Netflix film subscription! The cottage would be a great couples retreat with a couple of cosy pubs a drive away and plenty of wild walks nearby, we weren't able to take advantage of the gorgeous countryside due to the weather but it was really quite special experiencing the wind and rain from our cosy, safe cottage. I highly recommend Florence as a host, she was kind enough to welcome us shortly after we arrived but we also felt like we had total privacy for the duration of our stay. Thank you so much for having us!

  • Lovely location and wonderful space!

    Vas2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing stay here. It's totally remote and peaceful. Close to coastal path walks and stunning scenery. The bath, as others have said, is wonderful. Would very happily stay again.

    Dulcie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The location was stunning. The stable conversion was absolutely amazing - was such a relaxing weekend in a delightful place to stay. The bathroom was worth it alone without all the other amenities - couldn’t rate this any higher - it’s a perfect place to stay, the only downside was having to leave ! Would 100% return Thank you

    Alexander2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable stay, the Airbnb was cosy and well-equipped with all the essentials as well as a lovely bathroom and nice hot shower which was great after a rainy walk! Communication from Florence was great, including popping over to say hello on our last day, and there is a useful folder full of maps and suggestions for walks. I will be recommending this Airbnb to our friends and wish we could have stayed longer.

    Samantha2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • we LOVED our stay at The Stable! It was so peaceful and quiet at night star lovers will love the dark skies! The only light at night came from a lighthouse in the distance. So special! The Stable is an ideal retreat for 2 with modern furnishings mixed with character pieces that must have a story behind them. The whole place is restored to a very high standard. We will definitely be back. Florence has created a hidden gem. Thank you for having us.

The cottage is very spacious and could hold many guests however it is configured for two or 3 . The very large spa room holds the double jacuzzi, sauna and shower and so provides a private luxury chill-out area. • Clive is a great host and five springs was a fantastic space!! Thank you

    Adam2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Set in spectacular scenery the cottage is a little piece of heaven in the Welsh countryside. Clive was helpful from the first communication and continued to be as we settled in. We were then left alone in private, safe in the knowledge if we needed him, he was just next door. The cottage itself is stunning, with all the amenities you expect, and then some. I could go on about the jacuzzi and the sauna (which were both very heavily utilised during our stay), but it's the little things, like helpful hints about the area, books and DVDs and fresh free range eggs that mades the stay so special. The sheer tranquility of the place is evident by the wild stag and deer that visit the garden, and are a sight to behold. My wife and I had just got married the day before we arrived at the cottage, and this was the perfect start to our honeymoon, and to our life together. I cannot recommend Clive and his stunning home highly enough.

  • Five Springs is a lovely place to stay while exploring the local woodlands, we'd be happy to return!

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful and spotlessly clean with everything you might need. Clive has invested lots of time to provide information about the local area and maps etc which was so valuable and much appreciated. We loved the spa room and after a long walk a sauna and jacuzzi were the perfect way to end the day. There are lots of thoughtful touches throughout the cottage that also enhanced our stay. The local area is beautiful for walking and the Brecons within easy reach. There is so much to do and we would love to visit again and explore more of the area. Clive was a fantastic host and it was a pleasure to visit and we will be hoping to book again very soon.

A newly renovated cottage in the grounds of a country house close to Abergavenny & the beautiful Black Mountains. Stylishly designed, it retains the stone walls, beams & arched windows of the coach house it once was. It's the perfect place to relax after a day in the Welsh countryside: There's a well equipped kitchen, a cosy wood burner (with a basket of logs & kindling), a smart TV, wifi, lots of books, 100% cotton bed linen, fluffy cotton towels & SenSpa bathroom products. Outside, the kitchen garden is a great place to chill & there's also a private courtyard right next to the cottage.
Court Cottage was once part of the stable yard of the country house to which it belongs. We have recently refurbished it - turning it into a lovely cottage that retains the original roof beams, stone walls, arched windows and doors. Outside, there is plenty of private space - including a pretty courtyard next to the main house, with a table and chairs. Guests can also use the South facing kitchen garden - where there's a bench that's a great place to read a book or take in the views of rolling countryside. There's space to store bikes under cover and an outside tap to wash down bikes, boots and wellies. Inside, you walk straight into the sitting room, which is open to the roof eaves. It has two comfy sofas piled with cushions, a wood burner for chillier days, a digital TV & DVD player, a selection of board games and lots of books & local guides. Through the old pine double doors is the cosy bedroom, with its large arched window and beamed ceiling. It has a king size bed with pure cotton bed linen and a blanket woven from local wool. The bedroom has plenty of hanging space and a chest of drawers (and lots of room under the bed for suitcases etc). There's a digital radio on one of the bedside tables, usb plug sockets and also a hair dryer. Next door is the stylish en-suite bathroom, with a roll-top bath and separate shower. White cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower gel are provided. There's a socket for electric toothbrushes or shavers. The kitchen leads off the sitting room. It has painted cupboards and a marble worktop, together with a kitchen table for two. There are two usb sockets near the table, making it perfect for working as well as eating. A large antique pine storage cupboard houses everything you'll need to cook up a feast (or microwave a ready meal...). There is a microwave, induction hob & oven, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washing machine. Tea, instant coffee and sugar are provided - and there's also a cafetiere if you're a real coffee aficionado. There’s also salt & pepper and olive oil. We also provide a clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board as well as tea towels, washing powder, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. There is wifi throughout the cottage. There is central heating throughout & we also provide a first basket of logs & kindling for the wood burner.
Abergavenny, renowned both for its Food Festival and as the gateway to the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains, is 4 miles away. There you'll find local shops, a really good butcher and bakery, as well as a great local cinema and some of the best restaurants in Wales. For wonderful walks & cycling, you're spoilt for choice: the Sugar Loaf & Skirrid mountains are very close by, as is the famous Offas Dyke Path.
  • It’s nothing that hasn’t been said before, but what a beautiful place. Quaint setting in a courtyard, peaceful, quiet and tastefully decorated. There’s also a huge stockpile of firewood to keep cosy. Absolutely recommend! (Maybe just take slippers in the colder months as the stone floor can feel cold!)

    Sophie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Well designed and incredibly tasteful. The location was very peaceful. I would highly recommend it and will definitely return.

  • A beautiful stay at this stunning cottage. Perfect for us for our birthday weekend. Cosy, beautifully decorated with a luxurious feel.

    Lucy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage - spotless throughout with great bath and shower. Comfy bed and lovely linen. Had a nice time relaxing after walking the nearby peaks. Plenty of places to eat nearby or stock up on food for the cottage. Very easy to find. Thoughtful hosts. Would recommend.

    Penny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Joanna's beautiful cottage. As the weather wasn't amazing, we mainly stayed in, and felt really at home doing so. There was plenty of wood for the fire provided, the kitchen was amazingly well equipped meaning we could spend lots of time cooking, and the entire place was just really comfortable and cosy. The bath and shower we're lovely - it was very hard to leave!

    Emily2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful, even better than it appears on the photos. Joanna was also a great host who was easy to get hold of should we need anything. Location-wise there were plenty of shops (Aldi, Waitrose) and restaurants about a 10minute drive away and the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. There were a variety of local walks a short distance from the cottage, we drove a bit further afield into the Brecon Beacons national park to the four waterfalls walk which was about a 50-minute drive. I'd recommend this AirBnB and would happily come back.

    Greg2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Every detail well thought out and meticulously executed. A thoroughly wonderful place to stay in a beautiful part of the country andJoanna ensured we had everything we needed for a perfect trip.

    Ed2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for our first Christmas together and we cannot fault the airbnb or Joanna in any way. When we arrived, it was spotless, tidy and welcoming. She even sent us a message to ensure we had enough kitchen utensils to make our Christmas lunch the next day (we absolutely did, the kitchen is very well stocked!). It was a very special place to spend Christmas, and the grounds it's situated on are absolutely gorgeous. We went for a walk around the gardens and it was teeming with woodland wildlife (including the odd pheasant or two). Most importantly, it was absolutely silent! A perfect place to go if you want to get away from the city and hide away for a weekend, or ideally longer. This is an airbnb where the pictures really do not lie. I highly recommend booking a trip so you can see it for yourself. Worth every penny. Side note: my girlfriend accidentally left an item behind, and Joanna soon arranged for it to be sent back to us!
