Places to stay in Tobercurry

Places to stay in Tobercurry
Watergrove is a traditional Irish home which has been recently refurbished and updated. It is located on the outskirts of Tubbercurry, a small but lively town in the south of Sligo. It is only a 5 minute walk from the town's center and bus station linking Tubbercurry with Sligo town and also city's such as Galway, ideal for people who plan to see all that the West of Ireland has to offer. The bus route also links the town with Knock Airport which is located just a 20 minute drive from the house.
Bright, comfortable double room with separate en-suite shower room. A light breakfast of tea, coffee, toast and cereal is also included in the price.
  • Room at Kay's place might not be the most stylish but it is clean and the place itself is located very well in the village since you can easily walk to the stores and restaurants. The most positive thing about staying at Kay's place were the nice chats with Kay and playing with her cute dog. Kay was even so kind to prepare a warm breakfast.

  • Kay is a great host who is really enjoying meeting new people and showering them with care. And she has the most precious little Jack Russell terrier! The room is just like in the pictures and has a very nice, clean ensuite bathroom. The house also has a lovely garden and is conveniently located a 5-10 minutes walk from the Tubbercurry stop on the route of bus 64 (Galway <> Derry), which will also take you to Knock airport within 25 minutes. Absolutely recommended!

  • Kay's place is a very welcoming one. As soon as we checked in, she invited us for tea and scones. We had a nice littlr chat. Our stay was short, but very nice. The room is small but there is a en suite bathroom. I would stay again!

Our house is situated on the side of Knocknashee (The hill of the fairies) and offers gorgeous views of the surrounding county. Just 2 minutes off the N17 road, the main route of the Wild Atlantic Way, we are a popular stop off for weary travelers. The area provides peaceful, scenic views which are sure to leave a lasting impression. I share the house with my wife. Both of us are inviting and friendly but also provide a separate sitting room if you would rather your own space.
Our home is set on the side of Knocknashee, the hill of the fairies. Overlooking a valley you can see spectacular views, weather depending since it is Ireland. The hill behind our home is steeped in ancient history with recent archaeological work revealing settlements on top of the hill dating back 5,000 years. The views from the house include Court Abbey which is an old Friary dating back to the 1400's and only a few minutes walk on a lovely country road. The house Our home is a new build house which is modern, with very large spacious rooms. Two of the four rooms available are ensuite and there is another main bathroom which is counted as private as we ourselves have our own ensuite. There is an extra large living room / kitchen which is a common space with stylish, modern appliances and you are welcome to use all facilities available and help yourself to as much tea and coffee as you need to get you through the day. We also have a separate sitting room if people would like their privacy. Depending on the time of year you may be fortunate enough to get an opportunity to pet or even feed the lambs in the fields surrounding the house as my family have a farm nearby. Myself and my wife both work however we love hosting guests and want to do everything to make your stay memorable. You wont have to worry about sharing spaces with other guests as we do not book multiple bookings at once so you have peace of mind that you will have all private spaces to yourself and will only have to interact with my wife and myself.
The area is some of the most scenic in county Sligo. Neighbors are all friendly and helpful and provide an area that is safe for anyone, be it young or old, to adventure and get their hands dirty in the outdoors
  • Clive was great! Asked to stay as their place last second and he made it work. They live in the country and removed from the city. It was peaceful and removed from city life. I would recommend staying with Clive!

  • Clive and Hannah were great hosts. I had flexible check in time, house was huge clean and beautiful, and I had great time being their guest. Both Clive and Hannah are very friendly and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. I will definitely come back when I am in the area again.

  • Great value, very accommodating, even when we had to change our check in time after some car trouble. Thanks a million!

    Maria2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed with my children and their Grandfather for two weeks and found the house, very accommodating for our needs with some thoughtful provisions left for us too. Super clean and refurbished to a high standard within. The house is in a quiet village but found everyone really friendly around us. Good base for trips to both Sligo and Mayo and a lovely walk towards the river, on a gentle road beside the house.

    Philip2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very functional house, quiet location, and perfect to discover the surroundings of Killala and Balina.

    Justine2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house with loads of space and all mod cons, ideal for a family stay. Mark and his family were only a few minutes away if we needed anything and they were very helpful. In a quiet part of the country but highly recommend as a base for exploring the area.

    Kevin2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mark’s place felt like home which was what we needed after a week in Dublin and other busier towns. The house was bright, sunny, quiet and very cozy yet plenty of space for four adults and three kids. The area is quiet and beautiful. We greatly enjoyed our stay here.

    Jennifer2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Mark is a great host, he responds very quickly, and is keen to ensure you have a great stay. The house is located in a lovely rural village, perfect when you want a quiet get away, but close to Charlestown & Tobbercurry. The house was really clean, spacious and airy, with plenty of room for the 7 of us. The garden is nice too, with mature apple trees, and views of cows enjoying country life in the field next door. There's a little pub across the road, ideal for a quiet pint. I would definitely stay here again, we had a great stay.

  • It s a lovely place in the countryside, quiet and nice, the host is a really nice person!

    Alina2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Stefs house as a couple with our dog. If it's a taste of the rural, charming, friendly side of Western Ireland you want then this is the place for you. A very dog friendly, lavishly furnished, comfortable home that is just that. a home. You'll want for nothing as Stef will give you your own space to enjoy your stay but never be too far away should you need guidance on the local area or beyond. The pub is 50m up the road and is a great bit of fun. The local village has all the usual amenities and is only a half mile away. If in the area again, this place would be first on the list without question! Thanks Steff and Ena.

  • Thank you again for this welcome! We felt like home. We were welcomed like royalty, with all the necessary. Stephanie is adorable, she will welcome you and make you discover the area! Thank you so much Steph and Ena!

    Mark2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Austin’s! Really spacious and organized. Everything was planned for the guest, from the heating instruction to the towels storage divided by size. Austin was really helpful and always answer when needed. He didn’t had any other booking after us so he let us check in really late I’m the afternoon, so we had time to come back after surf and organize our drive back to Dublin. He is really a gentle host. Only thing was the absence of WiFi. But we could find some line on some area of the house . I think is quiet common for house in really rural part of Ireland . Companies have to still improve their connection. So hopefully also this house will have some internet connection. But is the best way to focus and remain connected with the nature and switch off from the super and iper social and IT life we have now days .

Feel like hiking along the many looped or waymarked tracks, then this 3 bedroom home, with off road parking, near train station, shops, pubs & hotel is your ideal place to stay. It's perfect for young & old with a large garden & easy access shower. Close to Wild Atlantic Way & the countryside for fishing, hiking, cycling & traditional music nights. A fully equipped, quiet haven to rest in with Wi-Fi and information to hand for details on all the local amenities.
Situated in a rural village on a train line & close to two link roads, it is within 17km of the Wild Atlantic Way, close to hill walking & course fishing but still maintains the slower pace of life. The castle is just one of the ancient sites in the area, while Yeats's grave, surfing & seaweed baths in Strandhill are just some of the attractions 20 minutes drive away. If the weather is poor there is a "soft-play" area 10 minutes away or a multi screen cinema in Sligo town. The village hotel has good bar food or full dining room food, while there are several take-always and pubs just up the road. A full size supermarket, garage and library are also in the village as well as churches & chemists just 3 minutes walk from the door. Map code F56DX76 Wi-Fi is available once checked in.
The neighbours are friendly and keep an eye on the house as its in a "neighbourhood" watch area & very safe. This house will allow you to totally relax & kickback into holiday mode if you let it work its magic....old fashioned rural time zone theme!!!
  • Fantastic place, right in the town, walking distance from everywhere you need. Great communication, clean, spacious and exactly what we wanted.

5 bedroomed house that sleeps 10 with 3 shower rooms. Includes bedroom and shower room downstairs. Renovated in 2017 this house is located in the heart of Coolaney village close to all amenities. Large garden to the rear with on street parking.
A 5 bedroomed house that sleeps 10 located in the centre of Coolaney village and also the heart of County Sligo. 3 night minimum stay.
Coolaney is located in the middle of county Sligo. It is a rural village of 1,000 people with 4 pubs, 1 Butcher shop, 1 pharmacy, 1 grocery store and a hairdresser. Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland service's are within 2km. Coolaney has been voted County Sligo's Tidiest Town on numerous occasions.
  • The place was great, perfect location for visiting Sligo countryside and town. House was so spacious and warm with fireplace and central heating. The kitchen was really well-equipped with everything we needed. The location in Coolaney was right beside the shop and two pubs. Handy for exploring Sligo by car, walks nearby and swims in the sea. Also close enough to Sligo town if going out for a night there and getting a taxi back. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. Claire

  • Jerry is an A+++++ host. Very prompt communications, very easy to deal with, happy to help where ever he can to make your stay enjoyable. House was so comfortable, clean, in a brilliant location and it is very well equipped to just move in. I would highly recommend this house if you are visiting Sligo.

    Clodagh2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay with a wonderful host. Jerry was very amenable and was helpful on his local knowledge. We arrived earlier than expected and Jerry’s sister, Ann, was there to let us in and show us round. Mary, who worked behind the bar and in the shop was also very helpful. The house was clean and modern. The bedrooms were spacious and there was no need to worry about bathrooms. The garden was kept tidy. The bar was two doors down and the local people were friendly and always willing to help. The shop was handy and sold everything what we needed. If you wanted a bigger shop you’d past larger supermarkets on your travels, so it wasn’t a problem. If you want to visit the area of Sligo and need a base I would recommend staying here. Great host, great people and great value. Just a shame about the weather, but you can’t have it all.

    Andrew2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant location, price and all amenities were great

    Luke2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located in the quiet village of Coolaney. The house is very clean and spacious and can easily accommodate 10 people. There is also a garden out back with a barbecue. It is situated on the main street next door to the shop which is convenient. Jerry is a great host and is very helpful. I would recommend this house for any large family/group looking for a base for exploring the north west

  • Very nice place and Jerry is a perfect host!

    Vincent2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry's house is very good for a large group. it has got adequate table space inside to feed a crowd and there is a good outdoor dining area when weather permits. Coolaney is also a good location being twenty minutes from Sligo town and little over half an hour to Ben Bulben.

    Dermot2019-04-23T00:00:00Z

  • 1 Gurteen View was a great and cosy place to stay. This was our second time to stay there ( we have family in the area) Brid welcomed us and there was a perfect rainbow in the sky ( we think she arranged that especially for us👍) Lots of space for 4 of us ( 5 last year) and room for more. She left us lots of food .... in fact enough for our 6 days there breakfast and lunch (we ate dinner out every evening) but everything we needed to cook dinner was available if needed Will stay there again in future most definitely

    Edward2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This house is like a home away from home. Bríd as a host was very welcoming, she made us feel comfortable and at ease which was warmly welcomed. The house itself has everything you need, towels bedding etc. The little touches that were left in the house like fruit, butter, bread and essentials was so lovely. We will definitely be booking again the next time we visit Sligo.

  • This was my second stay at one of Jerry’s houses. Jerry is a wonderful host, very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for his guests. The house is very spacious, spotlessly clean and really well equipped. It’s suitable for large groups, small children and has a downstairs bathroom (with disabled bathroom aids) and bedroom. Situated a couple of doors down from the house, there is a shop and a pub, with a butchers across road and a chemist nearby. Coolaney is a great village with a lovely riverside walk and ideal base when travelling around to explore Sligo and the surrounding counties. I thoroughly recommend staying at this house and will be returning again.

    Martina2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Jerry’s house. Spacious and comfortable accommodation. Highly recommend.

  • Jerry’s house was a perfect fit for us, plenty of space, very clean, and very well equipped. The location is great, the village of Coolaney was very friendly, while it’s also a great base for sightseeing. We visited Lissadell House and Marble Arch Caves. Did walks in Hazelwood, Lough Gill and Benbulben walks. The beaches around Sligo are beautiful. Strand hill and Mullaghmore well worth a visit. I can highly recommend Jerry’s house and Sligo for a holiday we love it.

  • This is a wonderful house to stay in away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We came over from Brighton for the wedding of my nephew in temple house Ballymote and this was the ideal place for us to stay. The welcome box of goodies was much appreciated and the very friendly (outdoor) cat was much loved. All in all it was a really great find for us and we left much more relaxed and at piece with the world!!

  • Great rural location if you like peace and quiet. I do. Comfortably sleeps 6, with all that is required for self catering. James and his mum were welcoming and house was clean and tidy......did have withdrawal symptons as no wifi or mobile connections........ but that is due to location not owners. Would use again if in area. Great value for money.

  • James & his mum were perfect hosts, always contactable, really quick to respond & couldn't do enough for us. The house is perfect for short or long stays, clean, comfortable, bright & homely. Location is perfect with many beautiful sights & lots to do in the area. As well as surrounded by nature, a choice of great shopping towns & fantastic beaches 20-25 minutes away.

  • A very comfortable and clean home in a rural location with 3 good bedrooms, great beds and showers. Lovely mountain views. James arranged a travel cot and high chair as we were travelling with a baby. Good sized kitchen and dining room. Enjoyed the fireplace and the garden for the children. Mobile reception quiet intermittent due to the hills. Would stay again. Thanks James.
