The cabin is fully self contained and cosy, with one bedroom with underfloor heating and living area with an open plan kitchen and a shower room with underfloor heating. We have equipped the cabin well with everything you will need for your stay, with little touches that will make your stay comfortable. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated. There is sunny deck outside to chill out and enjoy the peace, the birds singing and the wonderful views. There is a BBQ for warm evenings! There views from the cabin are of rural green and lush Devon. There are plenty of local pubs with great food. Many interesting walks in the green lanes and rolling landscape of Devon. On arrival we give you breakfast of croissant, jam and butter, fresh orange juice, tea, fresh coffee, milk and fresh flowers.
Our small village is well known for its wonderful community feel with sports days etc. Wonderful local pubs serving great food, the award winning Durrant is in the next village and the famous Malsters pub renown for being Keith Floyds old haunt. It is very quiet and peaceful. You will be woken only by the birds singing. In the heart of rural Devon, we have loads of picturesque walks and the stunning views in every direction, whether it is the river with the seals and egrets, the sea in the distance or the wild moors. • This place was outstanding, and amazing hospitality during our stay there!

  • We stayed at the cabin for two nights , it’s a lovely clean comfortable space. Unfortunately we didn’t get chance to use the hot tub due to the weather but think a privacy screen/fence would be useful had we used it though as the main houses window do look over the cabin. The village and area are lovely, welcoming and well worth exploring! We visited a number of local pubs for food and drinks and were pleasantly surprised by them all would definitely visit again!

  • A lovely, homely and takes you back to nature cabin! The little valentines touch were completely unexpected and delightful! The quality of the bedding, towels and amenities were as good if not better than any good hotel. Even though storm Dennis had different ideas to what we had for the weekend, a great stay!

  • A lovely remote location in a friendly village. The cabin is very clean and very stylish. A perfect couples retreat.

  • A perfect little cabin for a weekend’s stay, lovely little extras provided including some lovely bath robes, milk and coffee (and bubbly!) waiting for us upon arrival. We got good use out of the hot tub - and really enjoyed the peaceful setting in a beautiful part of Devon. Would recommend!

  • Warm and cosy, sparkly clean and comfortable, Jo and Gary made us so welcome in their fabulous place, just perfect for a weekend away. Many personal touches made a weekend away extra special. Wonderful, thank you Jo and Gary. 🥰

  • We loved the Cosy Cabin, it was perfect for our time away and the village was in an ideal location! The cabin was spotless and as the name stated, lovely and cosy for the evening time, the cabin has everything you will need for a few days. The local pub a short walk away is very friendly, where we enjoyed a few drinks however would have definitely eaten there! We would highly recommend the Cosy Cabin to anyone wanting to visit the area.

  • If you want to escape it all then this is the place for you! Very clean and tidy with lots of thoughtful extra touches from the hosts. The cabin was nice and cosy and quiet which is exactly what we were looking for. Whilst the cabin is in close proximity to the hosts own home (in their garden) this does not impact on the cabin and it feels very private. Wonderful hosts and would highly recommend.

Spacious rooms in magnificent listed Georgian mansion - one of the most beautiful and oldest houses in Torquay. With up-to 5 rooms available it's ideal for families and groups of friends. Every room is large and bright. There's plenty of parking along with the peace and quiet of a secluded, totally private location.
On the 2nd floor are three double bedrooms, a huge sitting/dining room (with sofa bed), a shower room and a snug with microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. On the floor below there is a spectacular double with private modern shower/wet room and access to a shared bathroom. With sea views from both of the double bedrooms and the sitting room on the second floor, we think you'll find these one of the nicest AirBnBs you'll have stayed in. If you choose to book the 3 rooms on the 2nd floor then you will have exclusive use of the shower room, snug (with microwave, fridge kettle and toaster) and massive sitting room; it's basically a three bedroomed apartment accessed through the main house. If you are booking for 9 or 10 people please be aware that one/two of these will need to use the sofa bed in the 2nd floor sitting room (or we can add a single bed to one of the double bedrooms).
Ideally situated for the Riviera International Centre, International Agatha Christie Festival, Torquay beach, the Princess theatre and Torquay station - all are a short walk away. The Chelston part of Torquay is a leafy suburb with lots of fine Victorian villas and the seafront is but a 10 minute walk. The award winning Cockington Court and historic Torre Abbey are both within easy walking distance.

  • My friends and I had a lovely relaxing weekend break here. The house is gorgeous and the views are just incredible. We ended up not even leaving the house (apart from to go in the hot tub!). Mark was very prompt at communicating with me and he allowed us to check out a bit later which was much appreciated as leaving the house with 7 children is never easy! Thank you!

This charming space, with double bed, wood burner, solar electricity and indoor kitchen has all you need for a basic yet cosy countryside break. Sleeps 2 comfortably (max 4). For Hot Tub information including price, please see "Other things to note" below. Seen our other listing? airbnb.co.uk/rooms/21144416?s=51
This space is "off-grid". It has a wood burner, solar electricity (240v) and it is beautiful, peaceful and cosy. Drinking water is pumped by hand from our borehole and rainwater harvested for washing up. Full containers are supplied. Bed linen, hand towels, basic kitchen facilities and washing bowl and jug are supplied. A basket load of fuel for the burner is included, further wood can be bought (£10 per wheelbarrow full). Outside there is a charcoal BBQ, a "bucket and winch" shower cubicle, and in the next field are compost toilets (these facilities are shared). A Wood Fired Hot Tub is available on request. (See "Other things to note" below). This is our off-grid lifestyle – simple, satisfying and easy on the earth…
Your accommodation is situated at Landmatters eco-community yet sufficiently removed from other dwellings to allow for peace and privacy. Please respect our neighbours space and their peace and quiet. When driving off site we ask that you turn left out of the gate so as to avoid driving through the hamlet of Allaleigh. If walking the land, make sure you know where the boundaries are and please leave no litter.
  • A superb stay...! It really was magical and the wood burning hot tub down by the river was amazing!! Great spot for being completely away from the mad daily rush!! Highly recommend!

    Nathan2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Marens Yurt is absolutely fantastic. The pictures are lovely but they really don't do it justice, it is so much cosier and beautiful in reality and it really felt like home while we were there. There is everything you need to cook a great meal and settle in for the evening by the wood burner with a glass of wine and fairy lights. We loved exploring the Land Matters site and meeting some of the lovely people who live there. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, in particular, Maren our host. We would definately recommend a stay at the yurt and hope to come back. Thank you Maren :)

    May2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The is a beautiful hidden gem! Wish we had longer there! The fire was lit when we arrived! Was like a home away from home with amazing views! We will definitely be back soon

    Sarah2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place to stay surrounded by nature. Maren and Brains were both lovely hosts, offering us craft tools and touring us round the wonderful LandMatters site! The Yurt is gorgeous and has everything you need as long as you enjoy an outdoorsey holiday :D

    Isobel2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was a magical weekend, our hosts were wonderful, very thoughtful and considerate. They had thought of everything you would need when staying in a yurt. They even offered extra blankets and slower burning wood as they knew a heavy frost was on it’s way. We felt very privileged when we were given a tour of Landmatters site, which is such exciting Permaculture project. We loved the adventure of wandering through the woods down to the hot tub under the winter star lit sky then snuggling up in front of a toasty stove with hot chocolate afterwards was bliss. It was a joy to experience a couple of days away from the pace and demands of modern living and to bathe in the luxury of earthly living and be surrounded in the healing energy of nature.

    Elizabeth2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely space! Very clean as well! This is a really unique stay and such a lovely, intimate and cosy place for couples! The burner had been started for our arrival so it was wonderfully warm inside - a lovely touch! We would love to come and stay again!

    Bron2020-01-12T00:00:00Z

Cosy and spacious rustic cabin conveniently located midway between the stunning beaches on the South Devon Coast and lovely walks on Dartmoor National Park to the north. Set in the gorgeously lush South Devon countryside and great for couples and young families who want to get away from it all and for solo adventurers, walkers and business travellers. Private and tucked away, surrounded by 60 acres yet close to the village with its lovely pub.
The Cabin is recently converted, tastefully decorated, self contained and private. It is approached via a stone track and is detached and cosy with central heating and a basic open plan kitchen with counter top belling style cooker, microwave, fridge, sink and dishwasher. The sitting room has a small table and chairs, sofa, a full drum kit for a little excitement and a pretty storage cupboard. There is a gas bbq and a small private garden with table and chairs and plenty of off road parking with little touches that make your stay comfortable. The double bed has a quality comfortable mattress, cotton sheets and fluffy towels and an en-suite shower room. On arrival we will give you a cake to go with your tea and coffee and breakfast, jam and butter, milk, fresh eggs (usually from our chickens) and flowers.
This is a wonderful unspoilt area of the South Hams yet we are not far Avonwick Village and close to some wonderful beaches in Salcombe and at Mothercombe. There is surfing at Bantham beach and we are a short drive to Dartmoor with its spectacular scenery and walks. Avonwick itself is a lovely village with its pub and small garage, not to mention some other excellent pubs in the area with great food including the Turtley Cornmill, The Anchor and The Ship at Ugborough and to name but a few. Totnes, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Exeter and Plymouth are all fairly close thanks to a good road network and the A38 Expressway.
  • Stunning little cabin with lovely views. Well equipped and quaint with extra facilities that weren’t expected, ie heated mattress and drum kit. Would not hesitate to stay here again; Rupert & Lisa thank you for having us!

    Charlie2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely cabin, we ‘hid out’ here during storm Dennis which just made it even more cosy! Lovely attentive hosts who provide all the little extras you might need. Highly recommend to anyone. Thanks again xx

    Sophia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rupert’s place is simple, honest and perfect. The feeling of isolation is wonderful. Being close to Dartmoor and the coast it’s the perfect place for exploring. I would advise you not to stay here if you want to cook 3 course meals and watch tv all day. This isn’t that place. Think of Rupert’s place as a cosy, welcoming base-camp for your adventures. Rupert is a genuine host - relaxed, helpful, knowledgable, there if you need him and not there if you don’t. We were in the cabin during Storm Ciara which was great fun. Rupert messaged us a couple of times to make sure we were ok. When our car decided to break down it was no trouble at all for us to stay past our check out time until rescue arrived. I thoroughly recommend Rupert’s place!

    John2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little cabin that was actually not too difficult to find. The communication was easy and we found everything we need, along with a lovely little homemade cake, and fresh ingredients for breakfast. Would definitely come back and highly recommend! Thank you Rupert and Lisa!

    Liz2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I absolutely loved The Cabin. We have never stayed in anything like it before but we will 100% be coming back! The decor inside was so homely and we loved the little touches such as the cake and hamper with bread, eggs, butter and jam inside along with fresh milk and juice. The bedroom was really cosy, with a lovely en-suite. As we got in late, Rupert left the lights on for us which was very kind of him. He was quick to reply if I ever contacted him and even popped up to say hello and to tell us where to go in the local area which was lovely, especially to hear about the history of The Cabin. As this was my first time using Airbnb I was a little anxious about what it would be like in comparison to reviews, pictures etc but it did not disappoint. If anything, the pictures did not do the cabin justice. My boyfriend and I have already said that we have no doubts that we will be coming back. We cannot thank Rupert and Lisa (who unfortunately we did not meet) enough for everything and are already looking forward to our next stay.

    Georgia2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay! great communication snd wonderful host.

    Glen2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Rupert's communication was great. Information pre arrival was detailed & helpful in terms of directions etc. & then a text to let us know that he'd put the lights on as it was getting dark. This made the cabin feel even more welcoming & homely. The cake & breakfast provisions were very welcome too. We didnt get round to trying the drums but a detached cabin is the ideal location for the set I'm sure. The bedroom was really cosy . A really private space with everythng we could have needed for our 1 night - wish it could have been longer.

    Louise2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cabin, slightly quirky with the drum kit and dolls house which we loved! Nice touch to provide the milk, juice, bread, eggs and delicious cake. Recommended!

The barn is nestled in a small hamlet with a handful of houses and makes the perfect base for a spot of isolation. You will be hard pushed to bump into anyone. Get away and soak up our wonderful view over Devon countryside and the fresh air! We take our guests’ health seriously, ensuring every surface is cleaned with disinfectant and we use high water temperatures for all our washing. We also provide cleaning products, soap and hand wash that you can use during your stay.
Our barn is stocked with essential food items as well as an ‘honesty’ mini bar. We also provide logs for the fire, plenty of magazines, books, games, WiFi and a TV. Most guests don’t even need to see or interact with us, the hosts, but only if they wish to, at a safe distance. Our closest village, Stoke Gabriel, is still open for business with a well-stocked village shop offering free food deliveries and The River Shack on the water front of the River Dart is open for al fresco dining and take-away wood-fired pizza. There are countless green lanes, fields, paths, hills, coastal walks and valleys to traipse over with little human contact. We can provide you with a list of all the spots where you can visit. Our place nestles in the small hamlet of Aish above the village of Stoke Gabriel near Totnes. Sit in front of the wood burning stove and peer out of the double height window to the fields and the river Dart beyond. Some mornings, you’ll see our resident male pheasant strutting his stuff on the garden wall. Occasionally, you may also spot a deer or two in the orchard or fields below. We are environmentally minded and do as much as we can to help lower our impact on the planet. Please see below, and our house manual, for a list of our eco credentials. We have used high quality fixtures and fittings throughout. The king sized bed is super comfy. The sofa bed is brand new and is a pull-out version rather than one of those uncomfortable fold out ones! The kitchen has been made bespoke by a local artisan and comes equipped with everything you might need including a full size oven, microwave and a small hob. As the space is small we can't include absolutely everything but please do ask us if you need anything at all! We also leave essentials such as tea, coffee, milk, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper ready in the kitchen making it that much easier to relax the minute you arrive. The garden is adjacent to our own but has its own little terrace with a small table and chairs - as well as a BBQ. We have kept the place as uncluttered as possible to allow guests to escape the everyday. However, if there is anything you feel you need please just ask and I'm sure we can provide it! Please note that it is best to have your own transport if staying with us as Aish has no amenities. The closest shop, pubs and restaurants are in the village of Stoke Gabriel which is a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk away. We are environmentally minded and do as much as we can to help lower our impact on the planet. Here are a few of the things we do: The barn is run entirely on electricity and therefore uses no fossil fuels. We have a 4kw solar panel system on our roof that helps generate electricity for the barn. For any further electricity we use Bulb Energy, which buys all of its electricity from renewable sources. We use biodegradable bin liners and recycled loo/ kitchen rolls. We use refillable options for cleaning products and washing powders that do not come in plastic. We use entirely organic ingredients in our scones and leave you organic, local milk. The teabags we choose (Clipper) have no plastic in them unlike most teabags. You will find reusable shopping bags for you to use in the kitchen. We provide a water filter so you don't need to buy bottled water. We recycle as much as possible.
A short drive away, nearby Stoke Gabriel is a lively village with a well-stocked village shop, two pubs, a BYO bistro, and a cafe on the waterfront by the Mill Pond. Totnes and all its restaurants, cafes, and shops is also close by car.
  • Great place with a beautiful view!

  • Wonderful location - incredible view (when the weather is clear!) The barn is tastefully decorated and very clean. All that we needed was provided, including some extra thoughtful touches for our son. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone!

  • Such a lovely space, super stylish and super clean. In a quiet setting but close enough to the town and lots of things to do! The guide was amazing and so helpful, especially the restaurant recommendations. We would definitely go back again! Thank you!

  • Susanna was a great host and made sure we were ok in the middle of Storm Dennis! The barn was beautiful and we had a lovely time - would highly recommend this

    Charlie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was perfect for us, cosy and stylishly appointed. The view out across the valley was just incredible, and we spent quite a lot of time just gazing at it and watching the buzzards circling over a distant field. Susanna was the most thoughtful host, and she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, including baby equipment. It made our first holiday with our little one so special, and easy!

    Melissa2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • When I choose a whole house, I hope to find a nest to settle in, especially if it rains, as often in Totnes ... Muriel's cabin is a warm, cozy, pretty, well-equipped, sober, peaceful nest. a nice place to be with yourself while having, right next to what to walk, go eat in a pub .. and like me, go after to Shumacher College. Muriel is very nice. She reacts quickly to any message concerning the cabin. so great. I recommend!!

  • Great little space and near the centre.

  • The Painter’s Cabin is comfortable, cosy and warm. It is an ideal base to explore South Devon and the towns on the River Dart.

    Ric2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was an absolute joy to spend time in Muriel's Painters Cabin. It is close to the centre of Totnes, yet you feel like you're in the countryside, tucked away in her garden. It is very comfortable and well-designed both in terms of functionality (storage, hooks in useful places, a shower cubicle you can move in, good ventilation, a sturdy table that flips out) and how it feels as a space (restful, beautiful, lovingly put together). I had everything I needed for a short stay and Muriel made me feel so welcome, with little touches like fresh-made bread, butter and preserves. I heartily, heartily recommend!

    Gemma2020-02-06T00:00:00Z

Beautifully designed by Gemma Dudgeon Interiors, this peaceful pied-à-terre feels spacious thanks to the expansive skylights and vaulted ceilings. The interior is elevated by the bold and colourful walls with fun patterns adding a final flourish.
The flat was recently featured in The Observer Magazine and its location in the heart of Totnes makes getting around easy and convenient. Grab a drink at a local pub, dine at one of the family-owned restaurants, and explore the nearby beaches.
  • What a great place. We loved it. Gemma was flawless in her communication and made us feel entirely welcome and looked after. This unique apartment is located in a perfect spot to walk to town but is very peaceful. I would not hesitate to stay again.

  • This is a beautiful self-contained studio apartment. The interior design elements are wonderfully thought out without compromising on comfort.

    Shelley2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This perfect accommodation was a jewel box, located within a stone’s throw of the main commerce and walking street of Totnes. The bed was incredibly comfortable , the design was current and classic with beautiful touches, fixtures and art; the skylights made it feel as though we were in the trees or on a ship, and the cottage was stand alone and private but not a bit remote. We will definitely stay here again when we come to magical Totnes.

    Vicki2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great few days away in this stylish and unique space. We particularly enjoyed the design colours and aesthetics, with everything within the property made to match. The space was used extremely well and everything was spotless and of a very high quality. Fantastically central location for nearby food and drink. We also drove out to enjoy some fresh air along the South West coastal path and local National Trust properties. We would highly recommend and would like to return. Many thanks! Ian and Rio :)

This annexe is a self-contained space in the heart of Totnes with views up to Totnes Castle. It's a five minutes walk from Totnes railway station and ten from the river Dart and its path to either the bottom of town or to the beautiful Dartington Estate. We have a south facing garden that guests are welcome to use and private parking. The annexe is five minute's walk from the top of the High Street with of all its amenities. Totnes is renowned for its independent shops, cafés, pubs and history.
Please note that there are two sets of three steps approaching the annexe. Private parking is available at the rear of the property along with the access to our garden. The washing machine is situated in the basement adjacent to the annexe, the annexe itself sits beneath the kitchen of our family home so some general household activity can at times be heard above. The annexe is comfortable and cosy, the house itself is Victorian and has the quirks and charms associated with an older property.
Totnes is situated in South Devon, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Beaches and Dartmoor National Park are easily reachable by car - taking anywhere between 15 and 45 minutes for a selection of beautiful locations. Totnes sits on the main rail network between Plymouth, Exeter and beyond. The River Dart flows through Totnes and lovely walks can be taken in either direction along the river paths. The local ethos encourages independent trade meaning there are plenty of lovely, quirky coffee outlets, pubs and restaurants, as well as other pursuits such as regular markets, live music, cinema and literary events.

    Elizabeth2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • A charming little apartment located conveniently close to the railway station and the town center. The apartment was very clean and full of beautiful details. There was an extra heater there so the temperature wasn't a problem even in the wintertime. It was great to get oatmeal, crumpets and jam for breakfast! The tea selection was way better than in any other Airbnb I've been to... I got a quick and friendly reply to all my messages. The only minus in the apartment was that as mentioned in the description, at times there can be a lot of sounds from upstairs (steps, talking, music), so this is not for the best place for sound sensitive individuals, at least not without earplugs. There was no noise from outdoors though, since the apartment wasn't on the side of the street.

    Anne2019-12-02T00:00:00Z

Perfectly placed to explore vibrant Totnes. A good sized bedroom with a comfortable double bed in the heart of the town. Ideally suited for solo travellers, or couples looking for a relaxing, and clean space close to all the independent boutiques, cafes and bars. Breakfast is included, and you can choose from a range of cereals, home baked bread, preserves, fruit and juice (We provide both dairy and non dairy milk.)
A great place to stay whilst attending a course, or as a base to explore Totnes and the surrounding area. Our quirky house is over 250 years old, a Georgian building in a medieval town. We are right in the middle of Totnes, near to the historic Royal Seven Stars Hotel, the Curator Cafe, the Norman castle, the market square and numerous cafes, bars and independent shops. It is very easy to stay here without a car; there are good public transport links including rail and coach. The bus and coach stop is just across the street and the train station is a 10-15 minute walk. The house is light and airy in Summer, but warm and cosy in the Winter months. We are happy for guests to make use of our kitchen and sunny decked terrace. Our house contains hundreds of books you are most welcome to read. In particular we offer: -super fast wi fi access -tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom -an earth friendly, sustainable household -100% cotton bed linen and towels -eco friendly, vegan toiletries: soap, shampoo and conditioner -clothes storage - hair dryer, iron and ironing board are available on request
Totnes is a thriving town with a diverse and independent community. Many of its residents are artists or writers. It has bags of history and character. It has a wide range of coffee shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, quirky independent shops, live music events and venue spaces. The town has a rich heritage, and thereis much to see and do: a museum, a Norman castle, Ghost walks, Transition Town tours, and colourful markets filled with antiques, artisan food, and bohemian clothing. The location of the town offers easy access to Dartmoor and the South Hams AONB and coastal areas. There are also great walks around the town, offering routes to Sharpham and the Dartington estate.
  • Mel's place was the respite I badly needed . Her home is at the heart of the town centre and everything is a stone's throw away. Less than a 10 minute walk to the train station. Great transport links, although I walked everywhere. Lots of nice footpaths if you're into walking and hiking. For those with mobility issues, there are some stairs you might need to climb.

  • Apartment in the center of Totnes, easy to find, less than 10 minutes walk from the station. The Schumacher college where I was going is accessible on foot in 30 minutes by a pedestrian path. The bedroom on the 1st floor is right next to the bathroom. Everything is perfectly clean. Mélanie is welcoming and very cheerful. I recommend this accommodation :)

    Frederic2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Melanie's cosy attic room with a glimpses of the hills beyond. We had just the kind of breakfast we like in the kitchen and then explored. We turned right out of the front door to catch buses just 30 seconds walk away for Dartmouth and Brixham, and to start a walk along the river Dart. We turned left out of the front door to find an array of interesting independent shops and cafes all with a friendly chatty atmosphere. We highly recommend the restaurant Gather, and going to the Totnes Cinema, full of easy chairs, sofas and tables to sit at while you sip a glass of wine through the film.

    Paul2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, bright, beautifully restored building, easy access and very central. Plenty of extra info on the town in the room, as well as a selection of teas. No parking on premises but clear directions to nearest places, very helpful and friendly.

  • Very comfortable, clean maisonette, ideal for 2 people, easy parking, quiet location, short drive from town . It suited our purpose very well. Stairs could be a challenge for older guests! We enjoyed staying there. Thanks to Amy for being a great host

    Kay2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a 5-star stay for us. The bed was comfortable with thick, soft bedding, the house was spotless and colorful, and the area was extremely peaceful and friendly. We also loved watching all the birds amongst the trees outside the windows. This place felt like an extension of our own home and I didn't want to leave it. We highly recommend a stay here and walks around the neighborhood to see how many animal sculptures you can spot, done by the neighborhood artist who does it purely by donations to recipients' favorite charities.

    Rebecca2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

  • Wow what a place; I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the best hotels in the world. And a few “plus” air bnbs - this one takes it to a whole new level...gluten free chocolates on arrival for my coeliac daughter, scented candles, yoga mats, extra supplies “just in case”, they really have thought of everything. I wouldn’t hesitate on recommending this place and we’ll definitely be back.

    Kate2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far and away the best cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in a lot! It was beautifully decorated, incredibly comfortable, spotlessly clean and, most notably, equipped with everything you could possibly think of and more. The kids’ beds had beautiful toys and books laid out on them which they absolutely loved (and our 6 year old said it was the best bed ever, with “silky smooth sheets”, which we agreed with). There were extremely generous supplies and provisions in the kitchen and bathroom, carafes of mint water, candles and essential oil burners, flowers and beautiful leaves, chocolates, games, colouring pens and pencils... you name it! We cannot thank Nat and her family enough and will definitely return. Nat was incredibly speedy at communicating and very helpful in every way. Thanks so much!

  • Jasmine cottage is situated in a quiet but central area of a lovely Devon village. We found the cottage in a converted barn warm and welcoming on arrival. Very well designed layout with an open plan living dining kitchen area and 2 ensuite bedrooms arranged on each side. The cottage was spotless, beds comfortable and linens and towels high quality. Lovely walks around the village and Church inn does an amazing Sunday roast. Really recommend its location.

    Sally2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a great place for relaxing at February half term and exploring Paignton and Brixham. Just enough for us 2 adults and 11 year old and 2 bathrooms was a luxury. Shower was great and whole house was warm and comfortable. Kitchen well equipped and we had breakfast at home. 2 pubs within walking distance. Good choice of board games our son enjoyed. Internet connection was good. I’m sure in the summer with more crowd the narrow roads could be a problem. Also parking is tight so smaller car would be better. Would recommend Rockfish in Brixham for seafood. All in all it was a great experience

  • This was my 3th Visit to Polly. I absolutely love staying in her beautiful home which is so thoughtfully organised for the convenience of her visitors. Polly is a genuinely wonderful host who has every detail covered. This visit I found I did have any pyjamas with me so Polly leant me a pair. Beyond the call of duty I think. I suspect that I will return many times more. Just love it there and the garden is a lesson in how to garden for wildlife. Just wonderful.

Just minutes walk from the centre of bustling market town, Totnes, Garden Cottage is hidden away down a quiet street with no through traffic. It's beautifully fitted and furnished complete with a wood burning stove and has a delightful private garden.
Although just a few minutes walk from the centre of the bustling market town of Totnes, Garden Cottage is hidden away down a quiet street with no through traffic and the loudest sound is usually the birds in the trees. There is a private parking space and then you approach the cottage through its private and very sunny garden. Totnes is a fantastic base to explore South Devon. It has a great selection of shops, cafes and restaurants but is also close to some fantastic beaches and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor. There are also some great walks from the door. The cottage was originally the changing rooms for a tennis court that belonged to the grand house next door, but it has been beautifully and tastefully converted into a luxurious cottage perfect for a couple. However one additional adult or child can be accommodated on the sofa bed in the open plan sitting room and kitchen. There is a good sized open plan living room with a stylish galley kitchen, dining table and chairs, comfortable sofa, flat-screen wall-mounted TV, and a wood burning stove. Beyond that you reach the large and very bright double bedroom. The bedroom has a king-sized (6ft) double bed. Next door to the bedroom is a luxury bathroom with a walk-in shower. The well-equipped kitchen has utensils and crockery chosen with real care. There's also a washing machine, dishwasher, free wifi (the internet however in Devon is not particularly fast) and a flat-screen TV. The cottage has its own private parking space (a rarity in Totnes) but is also only 15 minutes walk from Totnes mainline station with direct trains to Bristol, London and beyond. There are also some fantastic walks and bike rides from the door. The walk/bike ride up the hill to the Sharpham Estate is particularly recommended and you can combine that with a visit to taste some of the excellent local wines at Sharpham Vineyard.
A bustling medieval market town on a beautiful river with great walking, canoeing and swimming and just a few miles from fabulous beaches or Dartmoor. What's not to like?
  • Well presented , good location would definitely recommend .

  • Had a fab stay at Garden Cottage. The cottage had everything I needed and was incredibly clean. The bed was huge and SUPER comfortable! I arrived late and did find it difficult to find the entrance to the cottage in the dark - however David immediately came to the rescue when I phoned. Appreciated the wine and biscuits when I did get in!

    Lotte2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable, cosy, private little place with everything you could need and kind hosts nearby who are always quick to answer any questions.

My place is close to great views, the country side, Dartmoor and the River Dart. Dartington Hall nearby is known for its art and culture. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the cosiness, and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. It has good road, bus and train links. The train station is on a main line.
  • Sara is a thoughtful host. Great place to stay. Thanks ever so much!

    Stacy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The attic room was very clean and interestingly decorated, with some very unique features. Sarah was very kind and helpful, and we had a nice chat over breakfast.

    Regina2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Attic Room is private, comfortable and a beautiful place to stay with easy access to the countryside, Dartington Hall Estate and Schumacher College.

    Suzanne2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A really amazing attic room filled with lovely little objets d’art with its own toilet and a beautiful bijou bathtub under skylights. The mattress is excellent and the lighting very advanced all with cream carpeting. The hostess a true artist

    Marie-Angel2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy attic space with interesting books/decor and a perfect location between Totnes and Dartington. It was raining while we were there so we didn't avail of walking into Totnes, but it would've been possible if it were drier. Sarah provided a simple and tasty musli/toast breakfast and was very welcoming.... two lovely dogs there as well. The room was tidy and clean and as described. It got rather warm in the night, but there are two skylight windows that can be opened with birdsong just outside. Parking is also available, which is convenient. Thanks again Sarah!

    Taylor2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was a fun, comfortable and east one night stay in Sarah's space. Her attic room has a very comfortable bed and a great full bathtub in the center of the room. Fun! And her decorations are creative and worth a trip in and of themselves. Enjoy your stay here!

  • This is a wonderful place to stay!! Sarah is a great and welcoming host, and the attic bedroom is really much more than just a bedroom...with bath, loo, lots of books, beautiful things to make it feel homely, very clean and the bed is sumptuous and comfy! Thank you Sarah, see you again and have a cosy winter!

Small kitchen with oven and fridge etc. Shower room and toilet. Wifi, TV, DAB, central heating. Variety of tea's and real coffee provided. Warm, cosy and quiet.
A 10 minute easy walk away from Totnes town centre, though away from the bustle, and a minute away from the beautiful River Dart. The cabin is ideal for a peaceful break. A comfortable, quiet space, it has an open-plan layout with vaulted ceiling. The main room looks onto the garden. The south facing veranda is the perfect place to hang out and relax. Self catering and self contained. We are happy to provide some basic supplies if you ask prior to your arrival. All the bedding, towels, kitchen equipment, shampoo & conditioner is supplied. Cycle, swim, canoe, we have two stand up paddle boards (SUP's )available to hire, walk or just relax! The Cabin has its own South facing veranda to enjoy the sunshine and the veranda doors open fully to let the outside inside. Snuggle on the sofa with blankets and just enjoy the quiet. The Cabin has central heating and is cosy all year round due to the quality insulation.
Ours is a quiet street and The Cabin is tucked away at the end of our garden. Easy walking along the river Dart, great spot for swimming, canoeing or cycling.
  • I adored this place. I literally would have moved in...I absolutely loved the space and all the little details - the birdscreens and birdmugs, the beautiful plants, the terracey-bit, the whole layout that meant you had everything you need in one space (kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, kitchen in one cabin, the excellent book collection - was just perfect. Georgi and Pete were wonderful, generous and friendly hosts. There's an ecological awareness too that really suited me. And good birds in the garden. You feel like you're on a retreat! You have to be a teeny bit athletic to get onto the mezzanine beds - the swimming pool ladder goes straight up, the wooden ladder is angled so a bit easier. Even as a single person, it was good value, but four can sleep here easily in the 2 mezzanine beds, which would make it amazingly good value. Really comfy and peaceful. A lovely reflective space I found. Didn't want to leave!

  • Quirky cute cabin - everything new

    Katie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really excellent AirBnb, clean comfortable and a bit quirky, with some nice, unexpected touches such as the chocolates! Must be even better in the warmer, dryer weather, when you can sit out on the verandah.

    Nigel2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at The Cabin, it’s perfectly located for both Dartington and Totnes, being so close to the Footpath along the beautiful river Dart. Our children loved the well thought through, playful space saying: “I liked that the beds were in the roof” (Maisie aged 10) “I liked the homely feeling it had, it was comfortable and it didn’t take long to settle down” (Henry aged 12). Georgi and Pete were very friendly and helpful with excellent, hassle free communication. We thoroughly recommend this lovely little bolt hole in the South Hams.

    Tony2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Warm comfortable cabin with nice glass windows to let in tons of light. Very well designed cabin, with seemingly everything you would need for cooking right there. The sleeping loft , the bathroom all were very well build and made it a pleasure to stay in the small cabin because it was so well done.

    Daniel2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely delightful. The cabin is cosy and comfy, and just gorgeous in every way. Thanks Georgi and Pete!

    Rachael2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay in The Cabin. Just as described and lovely and warm inside. Had everything we needed and more space than I imagined. Lots of thoughtful touches and we loved the eco friendly products to use. An added bonus was only a minute away from the river Dart and lovely running/cycling/walking paths, so some lovely morning runs. My only problem is, it was so lovely my daughter wants one built at home to the same standard. We will definitely use this again when visiting this area.

Living Lightly, the B&B with prices to reflect your impact. Until recently I worked for Transition Town Totnes, a charity encouraging community solutions to the worlds current environmental and social challenges. I want to create a beautiful space that at the same time showcases a lighter living approach to holidaying. Expect British wool duvets, organic cotton bedding, fabulous home-made, locally sourced food and heaps of character; all accompanied by a warm, friendly welcome.
This is a beautiful, light and spacious Victorian house, a few minutes walk away from the heart of Totnes. There are two double rooms available; this listing is for the room with an extra large, king size bed. The room can be adapted in to a family room, sleeping up to 4 people, using the futon as a 2nd double bed. The price is £60 per couple for B&B and £35 per single person. For 3 people wanting B&B and sharing this room the cost is £85. The Air BnB price listed is with breakfast. For the room with 1 double bed only, see my separate listing on AirbnB. The prices are the same per person for both rooms. Both rooms have pine wooden floorboards and the original fireplaces in situ. Breakfast is optional and the price will be reduced by £5 per person to reflect this. If you want to save further pennies I will do a reduction if you bring your own duvet covers, sheets and towels. If you stay for more than 3 nights, subsequent nights will be 10% cheaper. There is a reduction of 5% if you have travelled by public transport. If you have come to Totnes specifically to find out more about Transition, an additional 5% will go to Transition Town Totnes
The street has a strong sense of community and is on the sunny side of the town, with stunning views that take in the two prominent churches of the town and the surrounding lush green hills. There is a corner shop 2 mins walk away and a great selection of food shops, cafes and restaurants in the town 5 mins walk away. The street is quiet with no through traffic and there is free on street parking
  • Holly is incredibly hospitable, surprising me with lovely touches like a piece of yummy ginger cake. Really welcoming and extremely good cook - I recommend the pancakes for breakfast. Also, I've been inspired to buy a shampoo soap bar after giving it a go, so don't underestimate your eco-influence, Holly! Thanks for a fab stay.

    Sarah2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best air bnbs that I’ve stayed in. Great attention to detail, not over the top, quiet and easy :) perfectly comfortable and all basics covered in a tasteful way.

    Gabriel2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Holly is a great host, and the house is lovely. Very clean, comfortable, homely, soulful, peaceful and very close to central Totnes. I loved my stay there knowing that my visit had very little environmental impact and supported local economy. Really enjoyed Holly`s hospitality and the lush breakfast! I highly recommend it.

    Aslihan2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Read Holly's description and this is exactly what you get; no frills but clean & tidy, and a very friendly host. Homemade breakfasts were lovely too. About a 5min walk into town. Holly will chat and answer your questions but also leaves you in peace if that's your desire. Would stay again.

    Callum2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Holly is a wonderful host, her house is not only tidy and comfortable, but also promote environmental friendly living style. When you sightseeing from outside the window and garden, it is very beautiful, and the breakfast is customizable. The location is not far from Totnes Train Station, and high recommend you to choose living here.

  • Holly’s Living Lightly eco-home is a fantastic concept and revolutionizes b&b travel. She provides a consciously designed home with beauty, quality materials, healthful and nutritious meals all while creating less waste and sourcing everything locally, with sustainability and resilience in mind. Holly is a welcoming hostess - I arrived to an offer of a lovely pot of tea and scones with Devon cream and sour cherry jam. Breakfast options are plentiful and delicious. I enjoyed everything from the homemade granola and yogurt to the buckwheat crepes with mushrooms and wild nettle, shakshouka and toast. All of the ceramic ware was a delightful feast for the senses. Very clean bathroom, Comfy bed especially with a lovely hot water bottles provided with a divine woolen cover. This level of authentic consideration is not something you can find in the most expensive of hotels, and that is what struck me the most. Totnes is filled with uniquely quirky and welcoming like minded people who care about the future of the the planet and the concept of community. Holly walks the talk! The River Dart is just minutes away and it’s inviting waters demands you pack a swimsuit. Can’t wait to return with mine :)

  • Holly's house is everything an AirBnb should be- it's very peaceful, welcoming and an inspiration for eco-friendly living. Such a nice idea to offer tips and information on a low impact lifestyle to guests. Holly is very helpful with local tips and the breakfast is delicious. More like staying in a friend's house than at a bed and breakfast. Highly recommended.

I have a mid twentieth century house with large windows, full of light. It's on the edge of Totnes, with the sound of sheep grazing and with wonderful views over Totnes itself and on to Dartmoor. There are wonderful sunsets to be seen and you can sit on the bench outside to admire them from the garden. I am into healthy nutrition and aim to provide my guests with delicious but healthy food. I'm also able to give plenty of suggestions for places to go and things to do in and around the area.
My house has a warm, welcoming, homely vibe, bringing into focus its architectural origins and making the most of them. It has an airy feel, being near the top of the hill with wonderful wide views of the sky and surrounding area.
Bridgetown is a quiet area and my house is on the edge of it, close to open countryside. Totnes is an amazing and unique town - very pretty and with much to offer being close to both Dartmoor and the sea.
  • Very last minute booking!, Sally was warm and very friendly and helpful and made me feel at home, the room was very clean as was the whole house enjoyed my stay alot and in a ideal location aswell

  • As mentioned In Sally’s description, this is on the far edge of town at the top of the hill, but does offer a quiet and safe base to stay with good views of Totnes Castle and church. A good night sleep was had with a comfy bed and a nice touch of fresh lavender placed in the room. Very good value for money, and we left Totnes having made a lovely new friend.

The house is in a quiet location. Shops, restaurants and public transport are all within walking distance. A launderette is a short walk from the house.

Once part of an old mews, the house has been converted into a modern and spacious home, with bright, light filled rooms. Guests benefit from their own staircase, leading to a private bathroom and large bedroom. Ideally situated within the Bridgetown area of Totnes, the town - with its wonderful array of independent shops, cafes and restaurants - is a 5 minute walk away.
My house is in a peaceful mews, tucked away in an old part of Bridgetown, on the other side of the river from the main town. There's a parking space available in the courtyard outside.
There''s so much to say about Totnes ! A medieval town with incredible charm, its vibrant culture and independent outlook make this a unique and stimulating place to visit. There's a fabulous cafe just over the bridge, where you can get excellent coffee ; they do great Italian food at lunch-time and in their Osteria restaurant on the first floor
  • Had a great stay, beautiful and interesting house. Really handy to pop into Totnes for a coffee. Would definitely recommend.

  • Lovely stay. Spotlessly clean. Laurence was very friendly. Have already booked again for end of the month.

    Karen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Laurence's house. It is a lovely, calm space and is a perfect base for exploring Totnes and the surrounding area. Laurence was very welcoming and friendly - he responded to my emails immediately and gave me some very helpful tips on local places to visit.

    Jessie2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Laurence’s space is great! Totnes is a lovely town with lots of quirky shops and cafés and he’s centrally located so everything is walking distance. It’s a little tucked away, so just treat finding it as part of the adventure(!) or ask him for help. His house is made up of two halves, and there are two Air b’n’b rooms that share their own bathroom, stair and lounge space. The room is simple and spotlessly clean and the bathroom is lovely. Laurence provides a nice breakfast and great conversation but also respects your privacy if you wish. I would happily stay there again.

    Eileen2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Laurence’s place is a great find. It was perfect location for us. We could park there and walk to places nearby. It is very central so you can gently stroll to the market, shops and eating places. It was very quiet with no noise to disturb us, just some distant cries of seagulls to remind us of the sea. Our stay was comfortable and easy going. We couldn’t stay for breakfast as we were meeting friends, but it was there for us and we could take some for the road. Laurence was very welcoming, giving us space and privacy, but was around when we needed and gave good tips and advice of the local area. We would stay there again. Thankyou!

  • A beautiful and peaceful home. Laurence was a great host and made me feel very welcome. His home is very stylish and a lovely space to be in. Everything you need is provided and you are just a short walk from Totnes high street with restaurants etc. I thoroughly recommend staying here.

A minimalist and bright room with double bed, chest of drawers, comfy chair, table and chairs. The house offers panoramic views of Dartmoor and sunsets. It is in a peaceful and quiet location and is a great location for a short riverside walk into Totnes- a lively and alternative town boasting cafes and beautiful walks. Alternatively, Dartmoor and the sea are just a 20 minute drive away. I also have a second room listed as "bright fresh home" should you wish to come with family or friends.

  • I had a very pleasant stay at Suzanne's. She is a kind host and her house is located away from the business of Totnes town centre so nice and quiet. I had great views from my bedroom and it is a pleasure to bale to use the kitchen and cook my own food. A wonderful place for a retreat if you need one.

  • A lovely, peaceful and large double room a short walk or drive from Totnes town centre. Suzanne was super welcoming and accommodating and despite us missing each other (due to timings) I was able to check in and out without any difficulties.

    Anna2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely clean, quiet room and only 10 minutes walk from Totnes high street, Suzanne was very welcoming and gave us lots of great advice about the local area. The bed is so comfortable, my partner and I both slept so well. We would absolutely stay here again.

  • Suzanne’s home is lovely; clean, quiet, warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this Airbnb and Suzanne’s hospitality will make you feel perfectly at home.

    Rachel2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Suzannes place is very comfortable, it is quiet, clean and cosy. You can use the kitchen and that is a real ‘plus’.Highly recommended!

    Heidi2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne is a lovely, warm person, who leaves the whole house to you. You can make use of everything in the house, including the kitchen. She gives you all the privacy you need. We didn’t see her a lot, because we were away all day, but the communication was good and fast. We could keep our bikes safely in her garden and there was a parking space for our car next to the house. It was a great place to stay.

Bright, clean and comtemporary. Overlooking Dartmoor and the river Dart. King size double bed in an exceptionally large room with desk, chairs, storage and a comfortable sofa. Wifi included. Situated in a very quiet location just a 15 minute river walk into town. Renowned for its cafes, shops and a fantastic atmosphere. 5 minute drive to Totnes centre. 30 min drive to stunning beaches and coast path walks. 30 min drive to Dartmoor. is also a second large bedroom available.
My home is a bright fresh contemporary house in a very fortunate situation up on a hill right beside the River Dart in Totnes and with views of Dartmoor and Haytor and the beautiful sunsets over the Moor. Its hill side situation also means that the sun shines fully onto it from late morning until evening. It's totally quiet with no traffic noise at all which makes it a very restful retreat space. You'll have easy access to the vibrant atmosphere of Totnes and all the wonderful cafes and entertainment. You can walk to the town centre in 20 minutes. There are many local walks along the river- To Sharpham Estate in one direction and to Dartington Hall in the other. At Dartington Hall you can find the most beautiful gardens, an amazing cafe, the barn fringe cinema as well as a vast selection of music, dance and workshops. It's fantastic! Totnes is also the original transition town and the dedicated members of TTT (Transition Town Totnes) have enhanced the stunning beauty of the town by planting a lot of nut trees and planters for people to help themselves to salad, strawberries and raspberries ! TTT also offers films and talks to inform people of healthy attitudes to Nature and the environment . Totnes is close to the coast and Dartmoor, both offering wild and tranquil activities. Stunning walks and cafes at the coast and breathtaking views and characterful pubs with real ales on the moor. For people wanting to come away with family and friends I have one double room available and a king size room also .
Totnes is without a doubt the best town in Devon. The house sits on a hill overlooking the River Dart and Dartmoor.
  • Suzanne's house is warm, spacious, modern and very clean. There is off-road parking and there is a short pleasant walk along the river Dart to Totnes town centre. Suzanne is an excellent host: friendly helpful and very considerate.

Perfectly placed to explore vibrant Totnes. A good sized bedroom with a comfortable double bed in the heart of the town. Ideally suited for solo travellers, or couples looking for a relaxing, clean and private space close to all the independent boutiques, cafes and galleries. Breakfast is included, and you can choose from a range of cereals, home baked bread, preserves, fruit, and juice. (We provide both dairy and non dairy milk.)
A great place to stay whilst attending a course, or as a base to explore Totnes and the surrounding area. Our quirky home is over 250 years old, a Georgian building in a medieval town. We are right in the middle of Totnes, near to the historic Seven Stars Hotel. Many of the main interest points of the town are within a few minutes walk away: the River Dart, the Steamer Quay, the Curator Cafe, the Norman castle, the market square and numerous cafes, pubs and independent shops. It's very easy to stay here without a car: there are good public transport links including rail and coach. The bus and coach stop is just across the street, and the train station is a 10-15 minute walk. The house is light and airy in the Summer, but warm and cosy in the Winter months. We are happy for guests to make use of our kitchen and sunny decked terrace. Our house contains hundreds of books you are most welcome to read. In particular we offer: - super fast wi fi access - tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom - an earth friendly, sustainable household - 100% cotton bed linen and towels - eco friendly, vegan toiletries: soap, shampoo and conditioner - clothes storage - hair dryers, an iron and ironing board are available on request.
Totnes is a thriving town with a diverse and independent community. Many of its residents are writers or artists. It has bags of history and character. It has a wide range of coffee shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, art galleries, interesting independent shops, live music events and venue spaces. The town has a rich heritage, and there is much to see and do: a museum, a Norman castle, Ghost Walks, Transition Town tours and colourful markets filled with antiques, artisan food and bohemian clothing. The location of the town offers easy access to Dartmoor and the South Hams AONB and coastal areas. There are also great walks around the town, offering routes to Sharpham and the Dartington estate.
  • Expect a really nice home, and that means the room and also the hosts. Really clean and really kind.
