It was completely self contained and very quiet. This place was such good value! We spent a lot of time visiting Eyam and Stoney Middleton which are really interesting places only 20 mins drive away. • A wonderful stay. Sharon was so helpful with organising our visit. We managed to visit a local pub for food which was delicious. The building was homely and clean. The pool table is an amazing feature. We stayed up late playing games! The bar is a wonderful touch. Although the building wasn't the warmest, sharon happily kept the heating on for us and also provided us with extra heaters. We will definitely be back in the summer for another visit.

    Emily2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

  • This is a really unique and charming property in an area with great access to the peak district and good local restaurants. The hosts were very quick to respond and very flexible about check-in time. The beds were comfortable and it was cosy despite stormy weather outside. There is a pool table which was quite a fun addition to the space. I really enjoyed the easy access to running in the peak district. Super stay!

  • Just come home from a a 3 night stay at Scott's, from the start he was quick to respond and very helpful. Met him at the property at the arranged time where he greeted us with fresh bread and milk (lovely touch.) Showed us round the flat and then left us to enjoy our stay saying if we needed any local tips or advice just ask. The flat had every thing we needed and was very clean warm and comfortable. Great location. Thanks again Scott!

    Leanne2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a 3 night break in Scott’s clean, comfortable, quiet flat in a convenient location moments from the Peak District. Very warm and cosy. Plenty of hot water and excellent shower. Scott met us personally at the flat and showed us around. Thoughtfully left some bread and milk which was a nice touch. Lovely views and fantastic bird watching from the large windows which was an unexpected bonus!

    Wayne2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for our visit. Ideal for checking out the local area. In a quiet apartment block within walking distance to the local pub. Short drive to the nearest station. Scott was great in leaving us breakfast for the weekend - nice touch!

    Amy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely flat, cozy, clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious, with a particularly fabulous shoe rack! Better in real life than the already great photos. Scott is a super host, provided thoughtful touches, was quick to reply if we had questions, but otherwise left us to enjoy our stay.

  • nice guy, would stay again, great location for what i needed it to be

    Kerrie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the flat - it was well-kept and had everything we needed. Great location too, with easy access to the Peak District national park and a short commute into Sheffield city centre. Scott was very accommodating and communicative as well. Would definitely stay here again.

    Robbie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Scott’s flat situates in a lovely outskirt of Sheffield and only five minutes drive into Peak District and 20 minutes drive into the city centre. It’s in a quiet residential area, there are 2 buses to town and about 10-15 walk to the bus stop, there you can also find local shops for general needs. Scott is a great host, he explained when we have queries, he prepared milk, bread, tea and coffee for our first 2 days breakfast which is very considerate for someone new to the area. We stayed there for a month, it’s a comfortable flat, very warm and clean, it’s basically a move from home to home, we enjoyed it a lot. The only thing that occurs occasionally is the hot water in bathroom runs rather too hot or too cold. It’s definitely recommended to anyone.

    Sue2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We moved from Bournemouth to Sheffield the 2nd of September. We decided to find a place on airbnb to stay for few weeks whilst sorting a permanent accommodation. We are so happy we found Scott’s place. Is a lovely flat, with everything you might need and if there is anything missing Scott just would try to help and provide whatever we needed. The area is lovely to live or for a nice little break, is like a 20-25min bus ride to Sheffield centre (or 5 mins train if you get the train from Dore & Totley), incredibly close to the Peak District, 5 mins drive and you are surrounding by beautiful green land! If you are looking a quiet break away, this is definitely a very good option!

Perfect location for exploring the Peak District and Sheffield. Dore Railway Station for trains to city and into the National Park is 10 minutes walk and we are also very close to 2 main bus routes into the city and out to explore; we are a 10 minute drive from various attractions including Chatsworth House and Longshaw. House offers cosiness, beautiful woodlands walks very close by and a great gastro pub only a minutes walk away. Great for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
This is my home; a 3 bed semi detached house in a pretty and leafy suburb in the south of Sheffield. When I am not here, I offer the house to couples to use. I have a garage for bikes or climbing gear and a carport for parking. I have a cat who is self sufficient and will not bother you (he has a timed feeder) but if you're a cat person, a stroke I'm sure would be welcome! He does not go upstairs at night.
This is a lovely part of Sheffield; on the south side and very close to lovely woodland walks and just a 5 minute drive to the edge of the Peak District will all it has to offer. We have a great gastro pub just a stones throw away and a fantastic little parade of shops with a great grocers, a butcher, tea and cake shop and a very well regarded cafe which offers good food and bistro nights. We are a 10 minute walk from the station from where you can get a train into Sheffield (5 minute journey) or out into the Peak.
  • Great place to stay at very good price. House was very cosy and in a great location to get to the peaks. Would recommend.

This is a lovely light room with double bed. There are bedside lights, a TV, desk, wardrobe with shelves, radiator and suitcase stand. The shower room is just opposite the door on the landing. Tea/coffee-making facilities in the room. Wifi available.
The room is a double room under the eaves, light and airy with red, black and white decor. It is well equipped and comfortable. In the room there is a supply of pamphlets and tourist literature about the local area, places of interest and history to give you ideas of places to visit near our home. We have friends who rent out vintage bicycles in Derbyshire so can help you arrange cycling in the area.
Our house in Totley, on the very southern edge of Sheffield, used to be a Derbyshire village until 1935. It has lovely views of the hills, which are part of the Pennine range of hills running up the centre of England. We are very close to the Derbyshire Peak District, with delightful small towns (eg Bakewell, Tideswell and Ashbourne) and villages, walks, country houses places of interest and castles within a short distance (eg Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall, Stainsby Mill, Chatsworth). There are lovely walks to do direct from our house. Derbyshire is well known as walking, climbing and caving country, but has lots of other interesting features too. There is a Co-op supermarket close to our house which is open from 7am until 11pm. We have a large quirky garden, which is open to the public in July every year and we grow our own fruit and vegetables. For evening meals, there are also three nice pubs within easy walking distance, all serving good food - The Crown, The Cross Scythes and The Cricket Inn. The Shepley Spitfire pub, also within walking distance serves cheaper meals.

The aromatic oil in the room, the sudoku booklet next to the toilet, all the different types of tea on the table... I felt completely at home

  • We only got the chance to stay at Sue's place for 2 nights but it was perfect for what we needed. It was very clean and tidy with lots of personal touches. The bed was super comfy as were the armchairs, perfect for relaxing with your feet up. There were plenty of utensils and bowls/plates/saucepans etc for cooking and even books and boardgames to sit down with in the evening. Sue was very friendly and welcoming and gave easy to follow directions. She was also very prompt at replying to any messages we sent. Overall this place, while small, is perfect for a couple or 2 people wanting to stay somewhere close to the peak District and we would highly recommend staying here if you are looking in this area!

  • An incredibly cosy spot, I could not recommend highly enough. Thanks Sue

    Shannon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! Thank you to Sue who is a wonderfully thoughtful host who went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. Sue tested out the oven in advance so I could make a pavlova to take to a family lunch and left earl grey and decaf coffee as well as a bottle of wine and some delicious florentine’s. The whole place was spotless, cozy and had so many extra touches; candles, heated electric under blanket on the bed (a real treat!), games a really well equipped kitchen and bathroom. We stayed on the weekend storm Dennis came so unfortunately didn’t get chance to explore much of the local area, but it was a great place to “hunker” down and we felt safe, warm and cozy from the elements. Thank you Sue!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Sue’s place. The milking parlour was sparkling clean and had everything you needed and more for a cosy weekend away. There were many thoughtful touches such as biscuits and wine which made it very special place to stay. We hope to return again soon!

    Anna2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot describe how perfect this place is. My boyfriend and I booked it last minute and couldn’t arrive till late. Sue happily accommodated this and showed us around as soon as we arrived. Very welcoming and cosy (Sue had put the fire on beforehand and lit some candles). There were so many little touches which just made it even better as well as all things you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. We were given a bottle of wine and some biscuits. We went on walks around the Peak District that were no more than a 25 minute drive away. We would definitely love to return at some point for many more walks!

  • This is without a doubt the best Airbnb stay I’ve had in England! The Studio is beautiful and much bigger than expected, the photos don’t do it justice. Everything provided was quality and Sue thought of everything to make this place a home away from home. I mean Everything! We were warm and slept like babies. The location is tucked away from the main road which means complete peace and we spent both nights star watching from the courtyard. Around the corner is the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire. Perfect for a Sunday walk which is exactly what we did. Followed by a Toby Carvery which was 10 minutes away. My perfect kind of weekend. I cannot rate this place high enough and Sue was a wonderful host who made us feel welcome and was very approachable. I would love to stay here again.

    Roxene2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s Milking Barn really is the perfect cosy bolthole. From an extremely comfy bed, to a fake log burner (which actually makes a crackling noise!) this little home away from home has everything you need for a country break. Sue’s also a very communicative host. Heartily recommended!

    Hattie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very quiet one room plus bathroom space with some interesting features like a light that comes on to warn you, that you are approaching the step up to the bathroom (I have not seen this anywhere else) and a spray to help you sleep by the bed. Sue was a great host and even allowed me to use her washing machine during my stay. Spotless and with a great shower and comfortable bed. Warm enough when the temperature outside went below freezing. A great place to stay if you are in the area.

This is a ‘lived in’ family home. A 4 bedroom detached brick house with private parking for 2 cars and public car park a few meters away for more. There is a king bed room a trundle bed room (sleeps 2), a bunk bed room and a baby’s/ tots room with a cot. So will sleep 6 adults/ children and a baby. There is private patio at the rear of the house with a bike/ boots/ child washing area. Light warning- Some rooms have been redecorated (bedrooms), some have not, and as a result are a bit shabby.
All rooms in the house are available with exception to a small study/ cupboard at the top of the stairs and the garages. Everything else is all yours.
A 5 min drive from the Peak District. No need to drive for road or mountain biking- you can get there straight from the front door! Local walks in Holmesfield. Dore train station with free parking is a 2 min drive away with direct access to the Peak District. The house is a 20 second walk from a post office/ convenience store, fish and chip shop (best one in Sheffield), Indian, deli. There are lots of amazing gastro pubs and restaurants within walking distance or within a 2 min drive.
  • Adam's place is a great base for exploring both Sheffield and the Peaks District. It has a lovely family home feel, lots of space and the beds are all very comfy. Great for a small group of friends or a family. Adam was super helpful leading up to and during our stay. A perfect few days - thanks!

    Sarah2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay if your visiting the peak district. The location is spot on, don't think you could do any better. Adam had fantastic communication and was honest about the little bit of work that was needed on the house, but it's wasnt anything that effects the stay! Great vaule for money!

    Helen2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This home was absolutely perfect for our stay with our 3 young children. We really only needed to contact the host for check in and check out instructions, as we had no issues at all with the house, but Adam was very responsive. It’s a beautiful home- thanks for sharing it.

Perfect location for exploring the Peak District and Sheffield. Dore Railway Station for trains to city and into the National Park is 10 minutes walk and we are also very close to 2 main bus routes into the city. House offers cosiness, beautiful woodlands walks very close by and a great gastropub only a minutes walk away. Great for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
This is my home and is either wholly available when I am away or 1 double room is regularly available. We have a cat who pleases himself so as long as you're not allergic, he should be no trouble! A cat feeder will be set up for him if I'm not there. I have a garage and a carport you can make use of; if you have climbing gear or bikes you can use the lockable garage.
This is a leafy quiet suburb on the south edge of Sheffield and just a short distance from the Peak District boundary. There is a great, award winning gastropub just a minute away; The Castle Inn https://castleinnbradway.co.uk/ and local shops not far. We are surrounded by woodland and beautiful walks are on the doorstep. It's a perfect location for access to crags for rock climbing too; Curbar, Froggatt, Burbage etc are just 15 mins drive.
  • Great place to stay, really easy to get into the peak district proper. Handy and very nice pub over the road for good food. Nancy is a great host.

    Carl2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy is very polite and kind resolved any inconvenience and responded quickly I received much more than I expected very grateful. Your accommodation is close to the Dore station and bus stop as well and has a Saintsburys staple shop a few minutes away, plus Castle inn with excellent food that is just a step away from the house, easy bus access to Chatsworth house Highly recommended even worth going two days is an amazing place. I recommend not carrying much luggage to move easier, and has a very friendly cat.

    Eder2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The hostess goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. I had a lovely double room right next to a shared bathroom. The property is lovely and clean, and there is a good selection of cereals, toast, fruit juice and coffee/tea for breakfast. Parking is available right next to the property in a secluded lane. There is a nice pub just 2 minutes walk from the house that serves lovely food. I would definitely recommend that anyone stay at Nancy's as it is just like a home from home.

Large double bedroom in the suburb of Totley with fantastic rural views & doorstep walks. Buses running regularly to city centre and the Peak District from bottom of road. Local railway station on the route to Manchester and Peak District towns. Safe parking & space for bicycles. Family bathroom with shower over the bath. Possibility of accommodating infant in travel cot if requested on booking.
Large double room with views across the valley in a quiet location. Wireless broadband included. 10 minute walk down the road to the local Coop store for food and other goodies as well as a lovely local cafe, butchers & pharmacy. There are also a number of takeways/restaurants within easy walking distance including some excellent pubs serving good food.
Our home has easy access to the city centre for the Universities, theatres and other draws of city life. It is about a 20 minute drive to the Railway station in the city centre or 40minutes on the bus into the heart of the city (buses run every 20minutes from early morning to late evening ). We are also a stone's throw from the edge of the Peak District National Park so a great base for an array of walks (some from the house itself), bike rides and all outdoor pursuits. 15 minutes drive from Chatsworth House and Gardens (also on a bus route). A good selection of gastro pubs serving excellent food and beer are also within a few minute's walk.
  • Perfect place to stay on the edge of both the Peak District and Sheffield. Izzy and the family are great hosts, and gave us plenty of recommendations of places to visit locally. There's plenty of space in the room, with a comfortable bed and a stunning view. Highly recommended!

  • A lovely family home with the most amazing views from the bedroom. The bed was comfortable (bring an eye mask if, like me, you're used to blackout curtains). Izzy and her family were very welcoming & friendly.

    Anne2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located in the quiet countryside where you can take a walk with family and friends. The bus stop is only a few minutes walk away and it's really easy to get around!

  • Perfect place to stay for a short trip to the beautiful Peak District. Excellent location, lovely room, lovely hosts and lovely cat.

    Steph2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • I was well taken care of, with help getting around in the Peak District and much more. They were so helpful and gracious. 2 adorable children.

    Gretchen2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely hospitable and friendly. Izzy gave me tips on how to get to her place easily from central Sheffield, very helpful! The house is very clean and you'll have everything you need. Location-wise, there is the Peak District on your doorstep (literally) and wonderful rural views from your bedroom. There are a few pubs within 5 mins' walk and supermarkets down the road. At this price, I couldn't fault a single thing.

    Kamil2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely house, very clean and tidy and really good value. The host was very friendly and helpful, and a good morning or hello from little Ezra went a long way too. Very pleasant stay would definitely return.

  • Wow such a beautiful place, high standard of finish , loving high ceilings making the space feel spacious and quality furniture and beds! Everything you need and more! Tv with Netflix and good WiFi. Lovely hot tub with rolling hills / country side views! Great location - we went walking (up Mam Tov & around Edale) and then into Sheffield for dinner and then spent a night relaxing and cooking. One of the best Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in x thanks x

  • The place is as nice and relaxing as it looks in the pictures. Laura,Michelle and Paul were lovely hosts. Well located with a pub within walking distance. The place was spotless and very cosy. Hot tub made for a lot of relaxing evenings. Would definitely return in summer to make use of the bbq.

    Ankita2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was an excellent place for the short stay we had to do a bit of walking & relax before the Christmas festivities!! The standard of the accommodation was exceptional, really well appointed, sumptuous beds & sparklingly clean. The hot tub was an excellent way to start & finish the day, even providing opportunity for star gazing one evening!! The location of The Stables is also really good if you want to be close to the Peaks but have really good pubs, restaurants etc within walking distance or a short drive to a supermarket. We really enjoyed our stay & will look to book again in the future.

    Kerry2019-12-23T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely cosy cottage right on the edge of the Peak District. We felt welcomed and looked after from the moment we walked in. The kitchen was very well provisioned and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. Can’t speak highly enough of Simon’s Cottage

    Andrew2019-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • A terrific base to explore the Peak District with all the amenities of suburbia. The cottage is on quite a busy road but once in the house you wouldn’t know and the back garden is totally insulated from the noise of the road. It over looks allotments and has a wonderful view. The cottage was sparkling clean, and well presented with very comfy beds. It was very child and dog friendly. It is well served for local pubs and we got an extremely good meal at the cricket inn. Great for walking and local attractions with longshaw, Bakewell and Chatsworth house all within 20 mins drive. I would certainly stay again when we return to the area

    Phil2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy and stylish cottage which is well located for Sheffield and the Peak District. Nice welcoming touches and dog friendly. The only very slight minus is that you need to be able to go down stairs to access the garden which wasn’t a problem for us and it does mention in the listing about the stairs.

    Helen2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and stylish cottage. A real home from home. Great welcome treats. Lovely area. We are sure we will be back another time!

    Sharon2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We (six adults) visited Simon's Cottage for New Year and absolutely loved everything about the place. The location is remote enough to enjoy a quite break with beautiful views, but close enough to all the amenities you need (Sheffield is less than 10 miles away). Jo was extremely helpful and always ensured an open line of communication was available if we needed anything. We would definitely recommend Simon's Cottage to anyone looking to explore the Peak District and the surrounding areas. Thank you so much!

    Rachel2019-01-01T00:00:00Z

  • Julie's house has everything you need for a relaxing stay near Sheffield: a well-equipped kitchen, spotlessly clean, off-street parking and warm despite the cold, wet, windy weather. Easy to travel into Sheffield by park and ride by train, or local bus, or drive to explore the peak district.

    Fiona2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend stay in Julie's place, very easy access to the peaks and we had a lovely time in spite of the weather.

    Jocelyn2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • GREAT choice for visiting the peaks, literally next to the national park, 20 mins to bakewell or Chatsworth, 40 mins to buxton, 40 mins to Mam tor, and 10 mins to a tesco superstore (all driving) We were here for a short holiday with my parents and our 3-year-old, it's our 10th airbnb experience my mom described this as the best, the house is super cosy, the kitchen allows you to cook by yourself (very important for our Chinese stomache) and the bedrooms are very very good. The bedrooms are very warm, downstairs is slightly cooler, but once you start cooking it gets warm quickly. Julie was very helpful and responsive during the whole process. couldn't recommend more. Awesome house, really feels like home. Julie said this is the house where she grew up. The whole home is warm in winter. Access to the peak area is super convenient. Within a half-hour drive you can reach all the sights of the Peak District.

    Joy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean house, certainly worth the money

    Georgia2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Julie was very easy to deal with and the house was perfect for accessing the peaks - would definitely stay here again!

    Gina2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Another top stay. Warm and well equipped and fantastic value for money.

    Jon2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Julie has been very fast at responding to any queries and communication was excellent. The location was ideal for our needs and very quiet. The house was lovely ,large and very clean, and Julie was very thoughtful on leaving a few things for us. Would recommend this place.

The cottage retains many of its original features including black beams. Accommodation is offered with the use of the owners heated swimming pool next door when the weather permits. The pool is 30' x 15' and is 3'3'' - 7'6'' deep. It is situated in a sunny mainly private location. The pool is open Mid May to early September. The cottage is within easy reach of the Peak District and Sheffield. There is fine walking from the door. Two universities are close. Dore village is about 5 minutes away.
Dore village is steeped in history and in the past a battle was fought here for England's Crown. The cottage is within easy reach of the towns of Hathersage, Hope, Castleton, Baslow and Bakewell in addition to Chatsworth House, Hadden Hall and Ladybower Reservoir. The University of Sheffield and Hallam University are close to hand with good public transport.
Dore village has many useful shops including a Co-op store, two coffee shops, two pubs, a park with children's playground and two restaurants.
  • Charming cosy cottage. We loved staying here and John was incredibly helpful without being at all intrusive.

    Helen2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cottage to stay at. It has easy access to the amazing Peak District and the village of Dore is a very nice base as it has great amenities including restaurants, pubs and a co-op that is really handy and a 2 minute walk from the cottage. There is a recreation ground literally round the corner which is well kept and fun for kids and dogs. From the cottage it takes 5 minutes to drive into some of the best parts of the peaks. You can be at the remotest end of the Derwent Valley within 25 minutes...

Our en-suite guest bedroom is cozy and relaxing, double sofabed sleeps two. Good off street parking, 8-12 min walk (depending on your pace) to Dore/Totley rail station and bus lines serving Sheffield & Peak District. Beautiful enclosed and private garden, seating areas, outdoor hot tub and woodland deck for creative contemplation.
The private en-suite guest snug is just off our large, light dining kitchen. The bedroom is compact, but quite comfortable. Double sofabed is fitted with four inch Dormatherm mattress topper - supportive and soft! There is a wardrobe with hanging and storage space. The en-suite has WC, wash basin and electric shower. The room is on our ground floor and has a side window and roof light - the room is light and airy in the morning and daytime. Great birdsong in the morning from the extended woodland garden.
Very pleasant suburban cul-de-sac with friendly neighbours. The area is very green and leafy with woodland areas backing onto the surrounding houses. A new gastro pub has just opened in the neighbourhood, less than five minute walk. Three excellent restaurants around Dore/Totley rail station as well as others in the villages of Dore and Totley. Close to Abbeydale and Dore and Totley golf clubs as well as Abbeydale Sports and Tennis club and Abbeydale Industrial hamlet.
  • Gail and Chris made us feel truly welcome - and I think Austin really enjoyed having Merryn (our Springer X) to play with :-)

    Peter2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Super welcoming hosts! Absolutely delicious breakfast and catered for gluten free requirements exceptionally well. Very comfortable room which felt private from the rest of the house.

    Jenny2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gail and Chris are so far the best Airbnb hosts we’ve ever had! The room is shiningly clean and cosy (the bed is so soft and comfy!), and the house is a beautiful combination of country and modern style. We’ve had a lovely time with them and their handsome greyhound and would definitely love to come back again!

    Hsin Ting2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb experience and I have just had the most fantastic stay. Gail and Chris are so warm and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their gorgeous house. The room (and the whole house) is stylish and beautifully clean; the bed is super comfortable and the en suite is stunning. Gail even made muffins for breakfast which were gorgeous and real treat. We had such an enjoyable evening, and morning in their company. Super hosts. I cannot recommend Gails place highly enough.

    Nichola2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was a complete pleasure to stay here and the best room only we've rented. We were made to feel very welcome and it was super easy for us to come and go as we needed. Gail provided a fabulous breakfast too and there was lots of choice for us. So many good things to say about our stay and hosts but most importantly we would recommend this place highly.

    Sammi2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great room with fabulous ensuite and really comfortable bed. Gail and Chris are great hosts. Their house is lovely and I was made very welcome. Chris kindly ferried me to and from the station and took me to an evening engagement locally. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely stay here.

    Kate2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chris and Gail were absolutely outstanding as hosts. They are the perfect balance; Highly organized, welcoming, considerate and true. I would describe my experience as memorable. They are naturally able to create an environment of comfort, privacy as well as the bonus of friendship. The home is spotless, and as accurate as the title phrase in the posting; "tranquil" I was treated extremely well, I am grateful for the gift of conversation and the sincerity that both hosts have. To finish, I would describe the hosts, the area, the setting and the home (which includes a charming Greyhound by the way) as one of a kind. I highly recommend your future stay with these incredible people. Thank you again. Thomas

    Thomas2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at Gail and Chris house and it was definitely one of the best travel experiences we have ever had. Starting with their hospitality and friendliness, clean and bright house, beautiful garden and lovely neighborhood. Also, we were welcomed by a very friendly greyhound Woody, who gave us a very nice performance in the morning. Special thanks for the breakfast. It was just delicious, we were recalling this a whole day. Thank you, Gail and Chris, for a truly wonderful stay in Peak District.

  • Debbie’s apartment is in a great location. We walked right out the door and to a walk around Higger Tor. It was clean and cozy, and Debbie provided a bit of breakfast food to get us started. We had a lovely time and would come again.

    Kate2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Second stay at Debbie’s place. Another lovely two-day visit. Perfect for the beautiful Longshaw Estate and the Peak District. Highly recommended.

    Mark2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie’s place is just magnificent. Right on the edge of some beautiful walking areas and not far from a great local pub. She also left us some bacon and eggs. A host of hosts. Will be recommending to anyone wanting to visit the Pennines.

    Lewis2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie’s place is amazing! The view and the short walk from Gramps right into the Peak District is truly worthwhile! The place was really homey - the wood fire was such a delight to come back to - especially from the wet and windy weather. Debbie had lots of lovely thoughtful touches like stocking the fridge with milk, eggs and bacon and making sure to provide dishwasher tablets and firewood. The place was spotless as well - definitely worth a visit!

    Kat2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. Debbie was a fantastic host, helping out on everything we asked about. The accommodation and location was great for us (4 adults) - we hardly used the car for the week we were there - walking out on different paths and hiring mountain bikes from Debbie. Great having a fire and a view over the moor.

    Claire2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely had a great stay: lovely place, beautiful surrounding and warm welcome. The house is spacious and has wonderful hiking options arround, can definitely recommend this spot!

    Frederik2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Can not fault this place! Absolutely what we needed for a stay away with 2 small children. Absolutely gorgeous surroundings, kitted out with everything you’d need (we made Christmas dinner there!) and wonderful hosts. There were some really thoughtful touches, such as bacon, eggs and milk in the fridge when we arrived, coffee/tea etc. Debbie and Gareth were very friendly hosts, who accommodated our late arrival time and even popped over at 10.30pm on Christmas Eve with more logs for the fire! Just wonderful, highly recommend this fantastic place. We’ll be back!

  • We stayed here for a stag do for 13 and all had a really great time! Debbie was really helpful and prompt answering all my questions which meant planning the weekend and the additional activities was really easy. The accommodation is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and there was loads of space for all of us to relax. The activities were great fun and was really handy that Debbie could drop us off in Sheffield in the minibus. Was really useful being able to use the fully kitted out kitchen and loads of fridge and freezer space. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for accommodation for a stag do!

  • We had an absolutely fantastic weekend staying at Parson House. Debbie was an amazing host, responded to all our questions immediately and was very welcoming and helpful. We were a stag weekend of 25 people and the house was perfect for what we wanted - in the peaks with all the benefits of the outdoors, no noise restrictions and plenty of space so we could even arrange to have a mini hog roast brought in to the dining room to feed us. Being a 20 minute drive from Sheffield is great and Debbie even took us in to the city in a minibus on the Saturday evening. Couldn't have asked for more - thanks Debbie!

  • Lovely big house - perfect for family get-togethers. The bedrooms all felt very spacious and private. There is a huge living room but also a cute cosy second lounge area with a log fire which is amazing in the winter! Well stocked kitchen with plenty of glasses and crockery, cooking utensils and serving dishes etc. Note just one small freezer located outside in the garage which is fine for ice and a few bits and bobs. Beautifully decorated for Christmas with lights and trees, very warm and cosy in the winter - also very quick responses from our host, thank you Elliot we loved our stay!

  • A quirky house with some great cozy communal areas. Perfect for a group meet up. Would recommend

    David2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This house is wonderfully eccentric, with all kinds of different spaces to it. As it was wet and cold for one day we enjoyed the cozy smaller sitting room and fire. It looks like it would be an amazing lace in the summer with beautiful gardens and sitting space. Plus some good pubs close by if you don’t feel like cooking in what is otherwise a well stocked kitchen.

    Cindy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house is probably the most exciting and enchanting I have ever stayed in. We had a weekend away with a group of church friends and it was a delightful space for sitting and chatting, cooking and eating together, watching the rugby, and it had almost everything we needed. It’s full of fun quirks and definitely feels like the family home. Eliot was a responsive host, there was plenty to do nearby including the pub and the recreation ground. We went to the botanical gardens which were only a short drive away. Equally I’m sure you could just sit and enjoy the huge TV sets with sky, the gym, the sauna and the table tennis set. Highly recommend

A stunning 2 bedroom, with en-suites, barn conversion, set on the owner's 31 acre property with outstanding views of the Derbyshire countryside. The barn/cottage is appointed to the highest standards, with hand printed silk curtains and Mulberry throws and for those that love cooking, even a large Lacanche range cooker. In the fields are the owner's horses and often their foals.
Close to Chatsworth and within 15 mins drive of Bakewell, Hathersage and other Derbyshire villages.
  • Twiggy's cottage is such a beautiful large cottage to stay in with great views (especially for horse lovers) and lovely hosts. We had a wonderful stay and would happily book again if we were coming back.

Our house is right beside The Derbyshire Peak District National Park, wonderful walking country and beautiful scenery. The moors are visible from the house. Sheffield city centre is easy to reach, with bus stop near the house and suburban railway station a short ride/car journey away, with free parking. You’ll love my place because of the mid-century style decor in the room, the 1960s bathroom, the eclectic nature of the house, the large garden and a very friendly welcome.
The room is on the ground floor, newly refurbished in mid-century elements. It has a bed, desk and chair and ample cupboard space. One bathroom is across the hall and a shower room is upstairs. You are free to use the fridge for perishables.
Our house in Totley, on the very southern edge of Sheffield, used to be a Derbyshire village until 1935. It has lovely views of the hills, which are part of the Pennine range of hills running up the centre of England. We are very close to the Derbyshire Peak District, with delightful small towns (eg Bakewell, Tideswell and Ashbourne) and villages, walks, country houses places of interest and castles within a short distance (eg Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall, Stainsby Mill, Chatsworth House and park). A fourth pub, The Shepley Spitfire, is also in walking distance and serves cheaper meals.

  • Jennie's place is excellent value for money and in a great location close to the Peak District and the city of Sheffield. She was very knowledgeable on local places to visit and things to do. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and cosy with great amenities. I'd very much recommend staying here.

  • Jennie was welcoming and communicated really well. We felt well looked after and particularly appreciated the fresh milk and advice provided. Her home is a great place for either exploring Sheffield or the Peak District

  • We had a lovely stay at Jennie's place. The room was beautifully decorated, very tasteful and comfortable. We could easily access the Peak District for hikes, nice pubs/restaurants for dinner and a convenience store which remains open until 11pm. We would highly recommend the place and would love to visit again!
