  • Whenever we go on vacation we stay in rural houses because we love them. He is particularly in love. It is located in a wonderful place (important to say that the town, although it is super careful, is tiny and is a mountain town). Road connections are typical of these types of villages, curvy roads and others, but the landscape is a show and if it is what you are looking for, it is wonderful. To highlight especially this house how well equipped your kitchen was. It has the necessary utensils and in addition to quality and in good condition, for enough guests if necessary and is very comfortable. A great point in your favor without a doubt. We have been in houses that looked like storage rooms where everything that people do not want is stored ... And with this we feel at home.

  • The house is charming, very cosy, absolutely clean, with a lot of nice little details. Very nice furniture. The welcome package with bread, eggs, wine etc was fantastic. There is a small pool to relax in the garden and enough place to relax in the sun and also in the shadow if it gets to hot. We enjoyed the garden a lot. The village is a typical andalusian white village without tourists and very authentic. It is a good place to make hikes in the mountains. Villages as Órgiva , Pampaneira or Trevelez are reached between 35-45min to start hiking from there. We would come back. Very nice stay. Thank you so much .

  • Fantastic, peaceful village house with all amenities you could expect and spectacular views and sunsets. Despite our visiting at the hottest time of year, the traditional architecture and the pool made it possible to keep cool. A great get away from it all and thank you to Ginny and Terry for their hospitality, they are great hosts!

    Helen2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • House very clean, well equipped, typical village and pool / terrace very pleasant.

    Renaud2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house of 10 to disconnect a bit of everything especially at night to see the stars all very well, the only thing the very narrow streets of the town to go down with the car is the only fault I can put and it is not Ginny but narrow that is the town to get off with cars thank you very much

  • Recommended accommodation. Good situation, the house very clean, the garden and the pool a marvel. Good location between the beach and the city of Granada and a step away from the famous villages of the Alpujarra. All of 10

    Inad2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is great to spend a few days of total disconnection. It does not lack a detail and upon arrival there was a surprise in the kitchen that we liked very much. Terry treated us wonderfully and did everything he could because our stay was great, pity that the weather was not accompanied and we could only enjoy the fireplace hehehe . The town itself we did not like, but the house is super nice and cozy.

    Lola2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • We just loved staying in this house! We love the fact that it is in a village more authentic and tranquil than others in the Alpujarra region. The decor was charming, and the house was equipped with everything we could need (eg. fire wood, fire starter, heater in the bathroom, kitchen utensils, tv, books, etc.). We were greeted with special arrival gifts (bread, eggs, cheese, oil, milk etc). That was very thoughtful and delicious! We highly recommend this place!

Restored granary house in a small ancient village of Las Alpujarras, foothills of the Sierra Nevada. A modern/ rustic mix with amenities a short drive away or a spectacular 30 min walk. Perfect location for peaceful & comfortable retreat into nature.
  • The accommodation has been even better than shown in the photos! Communication with Eleonora has been very good at all times. The site has a special charm and its landscapes are unbeatable. Totally recommendable.

  • Very pleasant stay as described in the description. Very good availability by the landlords, good place to disconnect and spend the days in full nature and isolated. To put a paste, on the ground floor, where the bathroom is, it is cold and it is hard to get heat. They were very attentive to possible incidents, which is appreciated. Otherwise a very pleasant stay

In the tiny village of Alfornón in the Alpujarras region of Granada, Andalucia, at 900 metres in the mountains, 40 minutes from the sea.
Rustic self-catered living in a two-bedroom apartment within a restored 600 year old Moorish dwelling, the last of its kind in Alfornon. Andalucian Moorish Casa's kitchen and lounge with cosy fireplace open to an outdoor BBQ area, with spectacular views of the hills lined with olive and almond trees. Soak up Alfornon’s timeless atmosphere in a unique holiday home steeped in a rich history. Sip local wine on your outside terrace and enjoy a deep restful sleep in the peaceful master and twin bedrooms. Tastefully decorated in simple rustic decor of the region, with fully equipped self-catering kitchen and linen and access to two outdoor areas, you could happily while away a week or a month in unspoilt Alfornon, with access to a local bar and a grocery store open all week and all hours, selling local fresh eggs and organic produce in season, and near to another larger bar and restaurant ten minutes up the road. There are only about 50 inhabitants left in the village all year round, we are really lucky to still have an amazing shop which I urge you to use; they need your trade, the huge hypermarkets don't! The new bar, run by Paco in the bottom street of the village, has a terrace with views for warm evenings, and with wine costing 50 cents a glass, and good tapas, you can't afford to miss it! Stop press, there is now WIFI in the new bar!! Help keep the village alive! An easy thirty five minutes drive over the astounding Sierra de la Contraviesa is ‘Orgiva’, a vibrant town with several organic stores, good cafes, restaurants and bars and tourist facilities. Visit on a Thursday, when a colourful market comes to town selling clothing, Moroccan goods, pickles and local produce. A daily bus also runs back and forth between Granada, Orgiva and near to Alfornon. Nicely positioned to access Malaga, Granada (1 1/2 hours - don't miss the Alhambra), Almeria, surrounding areas of the Sierra Nevada and unspoilt beaches. Unfortunately due to the steep streets the apartment is not wheelchair friendly.

  • The house is very pretty, with an unbeatable rustic charm ... The town is pure tranquility and its people very pleasant, but above all, DO NOT STOP GOING TO THE BAR DE GABRIELA IN THE PLAZA !!!! And do not ask for dinner, which with each Wine she will supply you with fantastic Tapas !!!!! THANKS!!!

  • The house is easy to find, well located in the village. It is very pretty, as it appears in the photos, but with the charm of it seems a little cave house and has everything you need to make you feel at home. In addition the town also has a couple of routes, one by mountain and another that also goes by the side of the river. And also a walk near the town that is beautiful and with very nice views.

El Sol is our cozy cottage with its own entrance, terrace and garden. It is cheerfully decorated with many yellow and green hues. El Sol has a small cozy living room /kitchen where to will find everything to make a nice meal or to read a book by the wood stove in comfortable chairs. The bedroom has a double bed (140x200), air conditioner, wardrobe and TV. The small but handy bathroom has a walk-in shower, sink and toilet.
There are a lot of reasons why we love to live in the Alpujarras. The sun shines almost every day and the skies are so deep blue. ( 300 days per year sunshine!) Nature in this part of Spain is overwhelming, the villages and cities are certainly worth visiting. The beach is closeby ( 35 minutes) but also the mountains are near in case you like to ski or spend a day in the snow. The Alpujarra and the Sierra Nevada is a walkers, hikers and cyclists paradise.
Our house is hidden in the valley of the Río Guadalfeo which runs in between the mountains of the Sierra de Lujar and the Sierra Nevada. Las Alpujarras, as this area is called are the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The location is extremely good for exploring this beautiful mountainous area of southern Spain. A 50 minute drive will take you to Granada where you can visit the Alhambra ( book in advance online!) or drive on to the impressive mountains of the Sierra Nevada. The ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada are one and a half hour away and are the most southern of Europe. A 30 minute drive south will take you to the the Mediterranean sea where you will find some lovely beaches with great beach restaurants and bars many of which are open all year. The area is very suitable for mountainbiking and cycling. We have a well equiped workshop to service or maintain your bikes. There are also many walking and hiking ways. The road we live on is the GR142. Our house is in the quiet village of Tijola, home to the writer Chris Stuart who wrote several very amusing books about his life in the Alpujarras ( Driving over Lemons). Órgiva, the centre of the Alpujarras is a lively market town with many shops, restaurants and bars is 4 km away. Here you will find several supermarkets, a butcher, bakeries, and fishmongers. The weekly market is on Thursday where you can find many local products. During summer there are a lot of fiëstas with different kinds of music. ( Jazz, Flamenco, Pop, R&B etc.) A holiday at our Cortijo can be active, sportive even, but our swimming pool surrounded by palmtrees invites you to relax and rest en enjoy your stay. Our apartments La Estrella, La Luna and El Sol offer you all comfort to make your holiday in our ‘El Paraïso” unforgettable.
  • Henriette was very friendly and communicative since we arrived, also gave us a great wine from the area. The accommodation was perfect for us: the views, the tranquility, the terrace for breakfast in the sun ... everything !! We loved your dog Laia! ❤️

    Juan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place and the host and the location hit ALL the marks and then some for a pretty country stay in the Alpujarras! It’s a beautifully restored classic cortijo, which in itself is awesome to experience staying in. Perfect for two people. Modern touches (kitchen, room heaters, laundry and beautiful pool area) with our favorite, a little fireplace which was a treat at night. It’s about 10 min drive away from Orgiva-but this is a good thing...quiet and peaceful with good walks around the valley, hills and olive orchards nearby. Great launching spot for all the “white villages” and hikes. Henriette, the host, is a pro at hospitality, and a little above the local curve as far as providing us free organic local wine givin at check in, and her property is also sustainable with solar and no pesticides. She was a pleasure to talk to and had tons of local tips with any aspiration we had. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home and truly treated without invading our privacy. You do need a car to stay here... but I think you really need a car for a visit to any of these Alpujarra towns.

    Jessica2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A charming place! It is very comfortable in the house El Sol. With the fireplace and the gas heater a perfect temperature is created despite the cold. Henriette is very nice, even due to an error on my part in the reservation, she solved it very quickly, I had the house already prepared in advance. Highly recommended for getaways through the Alpujarra.

  • The room was clean and so were the sheets. The place was really neat to stay in and was kinda fun. It's a little apartment located on top of her house. The dog did not bark all night like some reviews said. Some downsides were the bathroom is a bit odd with no toilet seat and a large window without a curtain, also a cloth door. The breakfast also left a bit to be desired. The panio bar down the road is a fun place with good food. The area is really awesome. I'd book this place again.

  • This charming and rustic nest is a little piece of paradise. Evelyne's house is at the end of the road, at the entrance to the hamlet of Atalbeítar. The tranquility and the unique location of the hamlet of Atalbeítar have filled us. Evelyne, her little dog Nana and friends of the village welcomed us warmly. It was a privilege to take the trails steeped in history in the middle of this beautiful nature. Evelyne kindly gave us a map of local "medieval route" trails that was very useful. These trails connect the hamlets / small villages of Mecina, Fererrola, Busquístar, Portugos and Atalbeítar. Also, a short walk away, beautiful mountain trails can be borrowed behind Pitres and Capilerilla. Attention, access is limited because there are steps to climb and a short path to get to the nest. That said, this rustic yet comfortable accommodation is not for those looking for modern comfort. It is however the place dreamed for any artist, philosopher or other dreamer. Thank you for your welcome Evelyne! We'll be back, sure. Anne and Florence

Cortijo Opazo, a restored farm house, offers two well furnished holiday apartments within a beautiful garden and surrounded by fabulous mountain scenery. Close to local villages and an ideal base from which to enjoy walking in the Sierra Nevada.
El Lujar - a charming garden apartment provides self catering accommodation for two people in one double bedroom. This well equipped holiday rental has two sets of french windows leading from a private courtyard patio into the light and airy open plan living area. Here you will find a comfortable two seater sofa, large dining table and chairs, side table, coffee table, book shelf and log burning stove. There is a television that receives Spanish TV only, but can also be used to play CDs and DVDs. Wi Fi is available free of charge. The kitchen is fitted with cupboards, full sized oven, glass ceramic hob with four rings, overhead extractor fan and full sized fridge. Plates, cutlery etc. are provided for at least four people and there is an extensive range of cooking equipment. The kitchen is tiled with ceramics in traditional local designs, and is clean and modern. It has a window that faces east and allows the morning light to flood in. Next to the kitchen there is a door leading to the bathroom. This has a sink, W.C. and walk in 'wet room' style shower fitted with a Oxygene power shower. It is fully tiled with shelves, hooks, mirrors, towel rails and a cupboard provided. The bathroom also has an east facing window with frosted glass. From the sitting room a door leads into a good sized bedroom with a double bed (200cms x 150cms), two side tables with lamps, a chest of drawers, a built in wardrobe, a well stocked bookshelf and an armchair. An east facing window looks out onto the surrounding hillside. El Lujar has its own private courtyard with flowering potted plants. There is a small covered area just outside the door which leads directly onto a patio, part covered by a pergola, which is for the exclusive use of guests staying in El Lujar. The patio has open views across the garden towards the Rio Bermejo, to the village of Pitres and further to the high summit of El Lujar - on a clear day the Mediterranean sea can be glimpsed way down in the valley. The patio has full sun all day whilst the west facing courtyard offers a perfect location to enjoy the setting sun. Shady areas are provided by a pergola covered in wisteria and grape vines. The private outdoors spaces lead on to the large communal garden where you will be sure to find your favourite, secluded spot. Tables, chairs and sun loungers are provided to allow guests to take full advantage of the outdoor spaces. Throughout the accommodation the floors have been finished in warm terracota ceramic tiles. There is an underfloor heating system in all areas, the use of which is included in the rental. During most of the year the days are warm enough for t-shirts and light clothing but since the area is mountainous the evenings and early mornings in the cooler months can be chilly and we have found the heating system invaluable. The log burning stove is provided as a cosy luxury, firewood can be purchased locally, please enquire. El Lujar is ideal for two people.
The Alpujarras is a hidden corner of Andalucia, located on the southern flanks of the mighty Sierra Nevada mountains, between the enchanting city of Granada and the coast of the Mediterranean. It is a wonderful place for a holiday and for relaxing generally. It is ideal for walking and offers a vast range of options from challenging high level snow line walks to casual meanderings around the valley. Wherever you go you are accompanied by the sound of water, either from the racing Rio Trevelez and Rio Poqueira, or from the innumerable irrigation channels delivering water to the cultivated land.
  • We stayed four wonderful nights in the Alpujarras enjoying the views and the tranquility of the place. The house is equipped with everything you need, I would say above the average. We like to cook and didn't miss absolutely anything. The house is nicely decorated and full of details including collection of movies and books, even we didn't have time for any. Communication was very smooth and we got good walking tips from William in addition to those maps provided in the house. No doubts I recommend this place for disconnecting from city life and enjoying the beautiful garden and surroundings and starry sky in the nights.

    Tea2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and William have created a true sanctuary of beauty and tranquility. We had a wonderful, relaxing time strolling through the garden, indulging in hours of reading, and heading out for occasional explorations. There are lovely things to see and do in the area, but the most lovely is the peace that Cortijo Opazo offers, along with Robert's and William's warm but unobtrusive hospitality. We can't wait to go back.

    Samantha2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Anyone looking for a haven of peace, to escape the routine and stress, I totally recommend this beautiful home. It has everything you need and more, to disconnect from the world and relax properly. The land is beautiful and Robert & William they have well maintained; the area is wonderful and we definitely were looking forward to come back and stay longer. If you add to that the friendliness and warmth of its owners, everything is perfect!

    Valeria2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful. Can't imagine a better place to stay in the Alpujarras. Robert and William are above and beyond hospitable and their place is truly magical. Perfect for hiking or relaxing in a beautiful and fully equipped place. Also our dog LOVED it!

    George2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfully peaceful 3 days here. We enjoyed spending time in the garden and being visited by the two loving pups every once in a while. Robert is a wonderful host and is so helpful. The apartment is on the bottom floor (so it stays pretty cool in the evenings!) with its own covered sitting area with a lovely view. We would hike along the GR7, PR, and National Park trails in walking distance from the house and we would get food in the nearby towns and restaurants. We really loved our stay here and would come again in a heartbeat.

  • Myself and my wife had such a relaxing time at Cortijo Opazo. The apartment was both comfortable and well kitted out and outside is lovely. Our decision to go to that part of the world was very last minute and how lucky we were as the Alpujarras are rather beautiful. Both Robert and William made us feel very welcome and it was interesting to chat to them about the area and their place. To top things off, Oska and Ella kept us amused with their k9 antics. Having had a preview, next visit we'd like to try the yurt experience!

  • Perfect site for those looking for peace and tranquility in the middle of nature. The shelter is very equipped and Jon was very friendly. We will repeat for sure.

  • Little corner of paradise lost in the middle of the mountains. Perfect for completely disconnecting. However, the address indicated was not the correct one. However, Jon picked us up at the start and carried us to the end of our stay in the nearest village. If rendering was complicated, but the view was more than worth it. Wow!

  • A group of 7 of us spent a lovely weekend in this beautiful cottage. If you’re looking for total tranquility and peace, you won’t find anywhere better than here. Rosa was very helpful and kind and quick to reply to any questions. The house is spacious and has many sitting areas. In winter the lounge with the fire lit is perfect for relaxing and in summer I can imagine the pool is lovely. The views are fantastic and it’s perfect for hikes. 100% would repeat!

    Stevie2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed two fantastic nights and three days at Rosa's house. We traveled 6 adults and my two dogs, and we were at home at all times. The house does not lack a detail, you will have everything you need as you can need it in your own house. Rosa was in contact with me throughout the process to clarify any questions about our stay. His response was always immediate. If you are looking to disconnect completely, this is your site. Silence, peace and a beautiful landscape.

    Laura2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We have spent two nights with our two pets and have enjoyed it very much. The house is very spacious, beautiful, the environment is spectacular, maximum tranquility, the river very close to take the dogs. We enjoyed the barbecue and the pool. The arrival road is dirt but we had no problem with our car which is normal tourism. Rosa is a great hostess, very nice and always willing to help and answer your questions. Without a doubt, we will repeat someday.

    Inma&Gustav2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in Rosa's houses, total disconnection. Rosa is kind and hospitable and helped us at all times. We will repeat for sure!

    Jesús2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • An unbeatable accommodation for anyone who seeks rest and disconnect. Quite isolated, for us it is a plus point. Section of dirt track with a certain slope that has not been a problem but to take into account if you are not used to it. Of the rest only positive things, great atmosphere, Rosa always available, tomatoes taken from the plant ... In summary, great stay, of 10.

    Álvaro2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not tell the whole story as to how beautiful the location of the house is. The house itself was very clean and although a little old fashioned in the decor was charming and did not lack for any amenities. It is a rural house and so due to thickness of walls etc could be a little dark. As a family we really enjoyed our stay, however some notes of caution the pool is deeper than you may expect and small children could be out of their depth at all times. This did not affect us and our children loved playing with the cats and feeding the very friendly horses. Also the area is very rural, make sure you bring all supplies you might need, it could be difficult to quickly go to a shop and the driveway from the main road could be considered a challenging drive. But these points aside the location, beauty and friendliness of the hosts mean we would recommend it to our friends

    Sean2018-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • A charming place

La Luna is at the back of our cortijo. It is cool and peaceful. The thick walls and cool spaces give you the feeling of going back in time and you experience how life in the Alpujarras was and sometimes still is. The use of red colors and beautiful Egyptian papyrus paintings on the walls makes the atmosphere warm and cozy, a wonderful place to escape the heat of the day. And on colder days it is nice to sit by the wood stove.
The bedroom of La Luna is no less than 25m2 and has a king-size bed (160x200), wardrobe, chest of drawers, air conditioning. There is also a cozy sitting area with a double sofa, coffee table, bookcase with CD player, and a sofa bed. From the bedroom you can step into your own patio with table and chairs and a barbeque. This is a wonderful place to completely relax in private. The handy kitchen has everything within reach: a two-burner gashob, combi microwave, refrigerator with freezer, small washing machine, toaster, ironing board and iron. You make coffee with a percolator or Nespresso machine. There is a cozy seat by the wood stove. Here is also a small smart TV with DVD player. There is a selection of DVDs and books available. The special, large bathroom has a cast-iron freestanding bath, a natural stone walk-in shower, a sink and a toilet. There is also a wood-burning stove here, but all rooms also have infrared heating for the cooler months. Staying in an old Andalusian cortijo is like stepping into another world. The atmosphere of yesteryear is nicely combined with the comfort of today. La Luna has a very calm and relaxed atmosphere.
  • All great, totally recommended.

  • Cortijo Quartero is a small oasis at the gates of the Alpujarra, on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and just 35 minutes from the fantastic beaches of Granada. We were staying in the Luna apartment, where everything is order, nothing is missing and the pleasant decoration helps you feel at home. The farmhouse has common areas highlighting the magnificent pool overlooking the valley that invite you to rest. It has been a real pleasure to spend our vacation days at the house of henriëtte, rik and laia.

  • A fantastic place to spend a few days in Alpujarras A very nice and stylish apartment and a great pool with a relaxing space that we enjoyed after spending the day outside walking or cycling around. Henriette and Rik are great hosts A highly recommended place We will be back for sure

  • We had a lovely stay with Henriette and Rick, they were swift to reply and we were super grateful to be able to join them at short notice when we were let down by Airbnb at our original host. The flat was very nicely decorated and the bath was DIVINE! As was the bed - super comfy! The fire was wonderfully comfy and Henriette's dog was the cutest little thing I've ever met!! A lovely weekend. Thank you x

It is a traditionally built Alpujarra-style house, located in the upper area of the village (Barrio Alto), restored in keeping with this style, using chestnut wood, whitewash, etc., which turns it into a warm, cosy, peaceful space, perfect for those who love hiking and walking since it is on the GR-7 walking route, on the Busquistar to Bubión stretch. The house has two floors: the ground floor, consisting of the kitchen, bathroom, living room and terrace; and the upper floor, where the bedrooms are found. It has a southern orientation and all the rooms are full of light, with some incredible views. Travellers who have stayed here emphasise its good energy and its cosiness, as well as its light and charm. The house and its hosts WELCOME you.
It is a very peaceful village, with few inhabitants, but with all the services you might need: local shop, bakery, chemist, medical emergency centre, etc. On Fridays there is a very interesting local market
  • It is a fantastic place to escape a few days. Both the house and the hostess are highly recommended.

  • An absolutely stunning property. Stayed there for six nights and wish we could have stayed there forever. Guadalupe is a fantastic host; very warm and hospitable. Even though we were very late, she didn't mind and still checked us in without hassle. The house is extremely nice and traditional. There's an awesome view which we took advantage of every morning over breakfast. We stayed in the winter and there is pretty decent heating from the fireplace on the bottom floor and another gas heater for the top floor. The location is great, only 2-4 minute walk from the square which has a grocery stores a bakery and a few local restaurants. Pitres is conveniently located near Central of all the other villages and towns which you can walk to if you like. Overall, really great experience and would recommend 10/10

  • The house is very cute and comfortable, with amazing views. It is located within 5 minutes walk from the village's main square, where there are several bars and cafés. Guadalupe is an extremely nice and welcoming host, you will feel like home!

    Lorène2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a great stay! Pitres is ideally placed in the center of the valley of the white villages of Sierra Nevada. This typical house in the heights of the old village benefits from a pretty terrace overlooking the valley. It is fully equipped and functional. Guadalupe thinks of everything to decorate the stay of her guests: wood for the stove, eggs of her chickens, coffee, ... she is also very available and especially adorable! To recommend without hesitation :)

  • It is a very simple and very well maintained house. The town is very small, a perfect place to disconnect. In the area there are several trails that pass through sites with great beauty.

  • María José's accommodation is wonderful, the photos do not do justice to the house, it is much better than what is seen in them. The house is very clean and has everything. The deal with María José is very close, it is a charm, very friendly and attentive. Having no TV, he offered us a Pen Drive, for our computer, with movies and drawings, which came in handy to entertain our son. I will definitely return to your accommodation every time I return to Ferreirola. 100% recommendable.

    Zaira2019-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Good stay in Ferreirola, the rural house was cozy. If the heating is too cold does not reach the bedroom, you would have to put a heater. Very quiet place to disconnect.

    Sonia2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at María José's house was very pleasant, it is a house typical of the area, on two levels and very charming. Personally I liked the fireplace that has pellet in the living room that helps to heat the whole house, the pleasant heat it generates and environmental awareness. She is lovely and she looked after us very well.

    Raquel2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • María José is an attentive and polite hostess who always looks for you to be comfortable. The place is unbeatable for those who seek to disconnect and isolate themselves. For lovers of hiking, in the area there are trails that are worth exploring, with fountains, viewpoints and small waterfalls that are wonderful. Highly recommended.

Traditional, self-contained apartment in the Alpujarran white village of Pitres, close to local amenities & walking/biking routes. Well equipped kitchen, WiFi, queen size bed + sofa bed, secure bike parking.
This is a nice apartment with a queen size bed. There is also a sofa bed, so it could sleep two couples or,in an emergency, a third couple could sleep in a double bed down below, but is really best suited to one couple. The kitchen is quite well equipped and you'll find most of the things you have at home. There is secure parking for bicycles. You'll also find an iron, ironing board, hair drier etc. The house is clean and comfortable and if you wanted, you could show up with just a toothbrush and pass a comfortable few days. There is Wi-Fi, a T.V. and DVD player.
You will be situated on the GR7 walking route, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. You will be about a four minutes from the plaza, shops and 24hr medical centre It's a great base for walking, mountain biking etc. and one can often see eagles and other large birds of prey. It's a good area for butterflies and wild flowers, and the weather is usually pretty dependable. The almond blossom (about the end of January), is spectacular, the wild flowers bloom from about April and the fiestas start in August, though late July and August are too hot for many people.
  • Met from bus in the lovely Pitres square by Mathilde. Very kindly helped with luggage- only a 3 minute level walk to the house, which is easy to find as its on quiet mostly, main road. Welcomed with bottle of wine and local blackberry jam yum. Lots of handy shops including supermarket, chocolate artisan, butcher, ceramic tile maker, hardware and restaurants, cafes, best is cafe Taha..... you could sit for hours watching life happen here, people, dogs, fish and bread vans, church, Health service (Urgencia) etc.....with market on Fridays. Theres great fresh free water nearby and lots of wood for lovely fire! I will return, no doubt, and to Steve/ Mathildes place if its available🙂

    Fernando2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my stay in Matilde’s casita!! I arrived to a warm fire and she left me plenty of wood for the cold weather. The house was really well equipped including tea, coffee, condiments for breakfast and cooking and even some cold beer in the fridge! I loved the thoughtful attention to detail, particularly the warm dressing gown and slippers, and books for hiking in the area. Great wifi connection, excellent location in beautiful Pites, with a hike that starts across the road from the house. Muchas gracias Matilde, I will definitely be back!

  • Stephen's accommodation is a coquettish refuge in the middle of the Alpujarran heart of the Taha de Pitres. The house has an authentic and personal style built in the style of Alpujarra with slate and wood. Your wood stove catches you in the evenings, after returning from the many excursions in the area, your bed is comfortable and spacious and you will not miss anything because the host takes care of details that make your stay much more pleasant. In our case, he left a cava and chocolates, as well as other small things that are always appreciated. I would definitely go back for all of these reasons.

    Carlos2018-11-04T00:00:00Z

  • I put 5 stars because I can not put 6, in parts: - It is an old house but perfectly maintained and renovated, it has the charm of being a typical Alpujarra house decorated as such, which has been maintained and renovated so that the passage of time is not a problem. - It is located in a very quiet village, in the middle of nature, and a stone's throw from other larger towns. You also have access to several great hiking trails. - When we arrived the house was clean and fully equipped for both leisure and day to day. When we arrived the host welcomed us and showed us the house, as well as providing us with very detailed information about places to visit, restaurants, hiking trails and others. Overall a very pleasant experience and excellent personal treatment.

  • We can only say good things about La Placeta, Jaime and Manolo. The place they have created seems magical to us, it has everything. To highlight something, the beautiful garden with hammock and pool, the good taste with which everything is decorated, the good "vibes" that the super-hosts transmit, the food that Manolo prepares ... The experience has been unbeatable. They only want to repeat.

    Fran2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I would describe it as a MAGICAL place, a shame not to have been able to spend more time, but surely we will repeat, since it deserves it.

  • Jaime & Manolo have created an intimate oasis, tastefully renovating a village house with great attention to detail. The houses are located in a beautiful and peaceful white village - an ideal base to explore the local mountains and villages of La Taha, and the hosts know all the routes!! I recommend water tasting from the local fountains, some are naturally fizzy or spicy. We had the most wonderful and restorative time. Thanks, we’ll come back.

    Barbara2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jaime and Manolo are incredibly welcoming and nice people. Their home is a little piece of paradise located in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. And mojitos by the pool- what’s not to like? Thanks so much to the two of them for letting me stay!

La Estrella is our spacious and light suite on the ground floor in the front of our house. This elegant apartment in blue, white and grey colors has a large livingroom/kitchen with a dining table, sofa, fully equipped kitchen, television and a woodburning stove. The bedroom has a super kingsize bed and air conditioning. The gorgeous bathroom en suite has a bath, walk in shower, sink and toilet. It also has a small outside area to enjoy a meal or have a drink and gaze at the stars.
La Estrella is a beautiful light, spacious and comfortable apartement with stunning views of the Sierra de Lujar for you to enjoy. Our salt water pool and the garden will make your stay perfect.
The skiresorts of the Sierra Nevada are one and a half hour away and are the most southern of Europe. A 30 minute drive south will take you to the the Mediterranean sea where you will find some lovely beaches with great beachrestaurants and bars many of which are open all year. Órgiva, the centre of the Alpujarras is a lively markettown with many shops, restaurants and bars is 4 km away.
  • What a great experience! We loved staying in La Estrella, with its beautiful interior which is designed with a lot of eye of detail and comfort and the rural surrounding is so relaxing and peaceful. At the swimming pool area you could just sit and watch the mountains for the whole day.. but there's enough to do and see in the area as it is conveniently located to make nice day trips to sea and mountain (if you have a car). Highly recommended!

  • Henriette's house is very cozy, tastefully decorated and does not lack any detail. Much better than expected. She is a great hostess. Thank you very much for an unforgettable stay

  • Henriette was the perfect host and the apartment was stunning and the pool area was so relaxing with beautiful views of the mountains. Would recommend to anyone!

  • A great beautiful house in a beautiful location. If you lie privately in the beautifully landscaped swimming pool, you will find yourself in paradise. Everything has been thought of incl. A BBQ and table by the pool. Only downside is that the house is less central, so you are dependent on the car.

11 apartments and Andalusian Tavern in Alpujarra Alta. Fully equipped with double glazing, heating, bathroom, lounge-kitchen, fireplace, large terraces, wifi, swimmingpool. south facing, without any other constructions blocking the magnificent view.
Situated in the heart of nature, and only 100 m from the village square, with 2,000 square metres of garden to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside, and, at the same time, not having to do without the services in Pitres (doctor’s surgery, chemists, supermarkets, bars, restaurants). We are located just 90 minutes from Granada and 75 minutes from the beach. The pool is located in a private and intimate place in the garden overlooking the Cerro Corona hill and the Sierra de Lújar mountain. Here you can enjoy a swim or a sunbathing. It is very healthy for the skin, the eyes and the hair because there is no chlorine and the water is pure and clean. There is a solarium where you could relax on loungers or if you prefer on the garden lawn. Relax and enjoy the water and the view at the rural house of La Oveja Verde. This purification is performed through sand filters and aquatic plants, such naturally following the European Directive on Bathing Water Quality Continental (Directiva2006/7/CE of 15 February 2006). Given that Spain still has the obligation of chlorine in all bathing waters, the use of our pool will be the sole responsibility of the users. You can see more technical, biological and legal regulations on this type of pool bathing in Natural pool.

  • We loved our stay in Pitres. A beautiful little village. Jose’s apartment is perfectly located with great views across the valley and easy access to the other villages and towns in the Sierra Nevadas. The apartment has pretty much everything you could need, although for our stay in April the evenings and mornings were still pretty chilly and the oil heaters in the apartment didn’t quite heat the room enough. That really is a minor issue though. There were plenty of blankets to help us keep warm and we really enjoyed our stay! Watching the sunrise over the mountains from the balcony in the morning was lovely. Great place.

This bright house sits at the top of Atalbeitar, an ancient Moorish village of La Alpujarra. Surrounded by greenery, this casita by the church is removed from the action, yet still only a two-minute walk from the parking and the heart of the village. The house was tastefully designed by an architect with Moroccan inspiration, and its wide, open concept makes it easy to navigate. There are windows all around, offering lots of sunshine and calming views of the village rooftops and mountains.
Our house is warm and simple, with all the amenities you need for a retreat from the outside world - and all this only a short drive or a beautiful 20-minute walk from the nearest shops and restaurants.
Atalbeitar is a surprisingly lively village, with friendly neighbours organizing weekly activities. Feel free to participate if you wish - or stay quiet admiring the sunset from Casa Kelo. Being here feels like you're really getting away from it all.
  • We have been very August at Kelo house. The house is as is in the photos, even better feeling when you get there. It has a wonderful terrace, it is very well decorated and clean and we have felt at home. It is located in a wonderful town, small but very cozy and charming. We totally recommend this accommodation to spend a few days of rest and nature, we will repeat!

    Cecilia2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Kelo was a very pretty little house, it was perfect for us as we love to walk the footpaths of La Taha and you can do this practically from the door. It was so peaceful sitting on the terrace for drinks and meals, we were worried the church directly next door would wake us up but it's only used maybe twice a year so no early morning bells. The kitchen was great with an induction hob and a cute little oven/grill that worked amazingly well. I have lots of food allergies/intolerances so we always cook at home and there was plenty of space, utensils and pans etc. The water was brilliantly hot so the shower was perfect after a long days walk and for washing up. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and Nancy the co host was great and invited us to flamenco lessons in the village which I thoroughly enjoyed. The house was so full of character and charm with beautiful moorish tiles and design. I really didn't want to leave as I felt very at home in the house and village and very welcomed. We had a very relaxing fun time and will definitely come back and recommend to friends! This is definitely a fab place to stay especially if you enjoy walking and exploring!

    Denise2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Peace and quiet, bubbling stream (though the occasional barking dog), not really any ants, no mosquitoes, a breathtaking view of the towering mountains, a stylish and themed little house based on Indian/ Moroccan designs, and sofa/bed in living room, small dining table at the front, and bedroom for 2 and toilet in the back! Incredible all together! 9 Y.O kid.🌸🍀💜🌹✨👍🌈🧁🙏🏻💕❤️🌼😀☺️

The Alpujarran municipality of La Tahá is made up of the picturesque villages of Pitres, Capilerilla, Atalbéitar, Ferreirola, Mecina, Mecinilla and Fondales. Its origins, according to some scholars, go back to Roman times. Still today we can find archaeological remains that tell us about the importance that this set of towns had in the time of the Arabs. At this time the quality of the silk it produced, its healing waters and the battles that took place between the Christians and the Moors became famous, this being the cause that led Philip II to grant Pitres the title of town, for your courage Nowadays, tourists and visitors can enjoy charming places with millenary chestnut trees, natural springs, laundries, rivers, paths, paths, pillars, etc. It also has exceptional vitas and excellent hams, breads, homemade chocolate ... This nest of white villages is a wonderful place to rest, paint, play sports, practice photography, research, study, et cetera. This colorful municipality is an ideal place for people fleeing bustling tourism and cities. This place, which has a careful tourist, artistic, gastronomic and cultural offer, offers the visitor the silence and freshness of its valleys. All this and much more have made that in the seven villages have settled artists, musicians, writers ... of Spain and other countries. Pitres, let's say it is the 'capital' of La Tahá and geographical center of the group of towns. It has several neighborhoods that are articulated around a square that was once a place of arms during the rebellion of the Moors in the sixteenth century. Currently, the church stands on it, built on the foundations of an old mosque. It is known that in one of his visits, Federico García Lorca, was photographed in the Plaza de Pitres. A snapshot attests to this. Capilerilla is the highest nucleus of the municipality of La Tahá. From its privileged situation (more than 1,400 meters of altitude) it offers great views. It still preserves remains of the oldest temple in the whole region. In this town lives Eugenio, the wise man of the time that despite approaching the nine decades of life continues to raise marranos (acquired very small in Pinos del Valle) and working in agricultural tasks. The appearance of Capilerilla retains a very genuine flavor with a dispersed habitat. The famous Nacho Cano has a house in this place for years. Atalbéitar, former neighborhood of the veterinarian, is a former annex of Ferreirola and together they formed a single municipality. It is located under a Mozarabic village of the Mosque of Busquistar. Some of its springs have healing properties. Ferreirola, almost hidden by its location between ravines. Only the tower of his church warns us of his presence. The quality of its sources is great. Hundreds of people visit the Source of the Soda each year. Some experts say that it is unique in the Alpujarra because it combines ferruginous waters with natural gas. Mecina is the main nucleus of the old municipality of Mecina-Fondales. It is the second largest town in La Tahá. We can highlight its church and its urban layout perfectly adapted to the terrain. It also has a spring of 'sour water'. Mecinilla is wonderful. The already disappeared and remembered painter José Ortuño made it every year in his linen canvases. Like the other nearby towns and brothers it has tinaos and terraos, orchards, paratas and terraces. Fondales is the town that is at the bottom of a ravine. Its architecture has barely changed, which makes it one of the purest and best preserved in the Alpujarra. It has a historic medieval bridge that spans the Trevélez River. The road that has two cisterns, crosses the old route that joined and continues linking La Tahá with Órgiva. It also has several sources of mineral-medicinal waters. By the way, on the 6th and 8th of this month of October, he will celebrate his patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgen del Rosario. Some recommended nearby businesses to visit in the area are: Covirán supermarket, fish market, butcher and bakery with excellent bread and freshly made sweets. Bar Sierra Nevada in the town square, ask for Begoña and say that you are on my side, they have rations and delicious tapas in the area, Bar La Taha, which has a very nice terrace when it's sunny. Bar Carretera for lunch or dinner, terrace El Mirador for a drink, is very beautiful and with wonderful views. To eat there better advise and reserve. In the village below, Mecina- Fondales there is a pizzeria where you eat very well and there is a good atmosphere with performances from time to time, when it is a large group it is better to book. In the area there are innumerable trails and routes to do and also the source Agria which is two kilometers from Pitres, in Pórtugos, you can go for a walk. At the exit of Pitres, passing the cemetery and just before the bridge that crosses the river Bermejo there is a path that leads to a beautiful waterfall. In the Fondales river there is a bridge from the Roman era next to a mill of the time It is a wonderful walk.
  • Spectacular place, with a terrace to enjoy. Jorge very kind and very good communication. We will repeat without a doubt.

  • The house is everything you can look for in an Alpujarreña house with the plus of a magnificent terrace that we were lucky to take advantage of at Christmas. Jorge is very busy and communication with the very fluid, highly recommended for a few days with family or friends!

    Elena2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • The stay fully satisfied our expectations in a rural, 'alpurrareño' house. Very interesting, not least because our hospitable host, Jorge, could tell about La Tahá area, the house and family history. Our three-day stay was a fine starting point for walks and visits to the cities of Pampaneira, Capileira and Trevélez.

  • The house is great. It is noted that it is an old house, but it is well renovated and cozy. The living room with the wood stove and the terrace give a plus to the stay. Highly recommended

  • Typical house of the Alpujarra super charming, and restored with very good taste. We went for a weekend the whole family and we were like in our house. House with all possible services, you just have to bring one food and little else. And on the part of the owner a charming deal. RECOMMENDABLE!!!! Yes or yes.

    Jorge2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • It is a house authentically of the Alpujarra, has everything you need to spend some great days, the best comfort of the mattresses that for us was very important, because after the days of hiking we look for rest.

    Oscar2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful, very large and perfectly equipped. On the ground floor it's a bit colder and there's more humidity, but it's understandable in a house like that. In any case, it is equipped so that you do not get cold at any time.

    Rebeca2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • House with a lot of charm, if you like the charm of yesteryear: the trinkets are incredible, old enough, of another time; the ceiling is in beams and exposed stone, the magnificent terrace with a beautiful view. Live a few days like a few decades ago ... Despite the bad weather, we were not cold.

  • A rural house that surprises all the qualities it offers in the middle of a secluded place. Ideal both to rest and to spend a few days of fun with people of real importance. I would repeat without a doubt.

    Carlos2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in a peaceful and very picturesque location. Ideal for anyone who wants to get away from it all. You need a car to get in and out of Pitres or Pórtugos, both only minutes away by car but the steep hill is unrealistic for walking. Adrián was extremely helpful and attentive and his house is very comfortable and well equipped. The memories of reading by the pool shaded by an olive tree or the moonlit dinners on the terrace will stay with me for a long time.

    Jacqueline2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is ideal to rest and enjoy with the family, very careful the detail and with everything necessary, thank you Adrián, we will be back soon

  • Located in a beautiful hillside, in a quiet corner between the villages, it is pleasant to spend a relaxing time! Top equipped, you will not miss anything. Adrian has welcomed us friendly and helpful and headed to the house and extremely prudently shown and explained everything. A great week - anytime again!

    Bastian2019-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you are thinking about a trip to La Alpujarra in Adrián's house you will find everything you need for a more than pleasant stay, regardless of the season. Both the exterior and interior areas are taken care of in detail and also super clean. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen very well equipped and with a very spacious and cozy living room. Having a fireplace and heating do not worry about the cold .... Adrián has been a great host, super attentive to all our needs and facilitating everything we needed. The house is 10 and we will surely repeat. Thank you very much Adrián.

  • We were the whole family (my husband, our little one year old and our puppy). The Casita La Luna is very comfortable, Gwynedd has it very well equipped to have all the comforts and make you feel at home. When we arrived, we had already lit the fireplace to keep it warm and left us firewood to spare for the entire stay as well as milk, eggs, water and other food. The best thing is the terrace and the spectacular views of the mountain. In the mornings from the living room we have enjoyed the sunrise, a beautiful picture that will remain in our memory. It has a room and a sofa bed, Gwynedd offers you sheets for both beds, which has been great, since my husband slept on the sofa bed and I in the room with the little one (for our dog we took his bed).

    Esperanza2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The communication with the hostess has been unbeatable, she answered the next minute, answered any questions and was totally available for any problem that arose. The fireplace, the terrace and the views have been the best, a place to relax and unwind in the middle of nature and close to beautiful villages. I definitely recommend this accommodation !!

    Marta2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a wonderful Christmas at Gwynedd's place. Absolutely faultless. Amazing location with spectacular views of tumbling countryside. Lovely little cabin with excellent amenities and a fantastic wood-burning stove. For a small fee, Gwynedd picked me up and took me back to Granada as I was travelling with my dog. She supplied dog bowls and towels for my pup, and her husband lit the fire in advance of my arrival as the weather was inclement. The garden is enclosed so it was perfect for me and my dog. They even invited me for Christmas dinner. I'd give more than five stars if it was possible to do so. Highly recommended. Especially if you travel with a dog.

  • A beautiful little house in the middle of La Alpujarra. Gwynned left us some welcome details, is very attentive and offered many suggestions to visit villages and make routes. The views from the patio of the house are wonderful, a place to rest and disconnect with everything you need nearby. We loved it!

    Lorena2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved being at mobile home the Gwynedd. The views of the mountains are wonderful and the house does not lack any detail. It has everything to spend some great days. Gwynedd was very hospitable and was aware of everything we need. When we arrived the house was very warm. He had lit the fireplace and we had no firewood to keep the house warm every day. He also left us with milk and some things for breakfast for the first few days. I highly recommend the accommodation.

    Diana2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We have spent a week in the house of the Moon, ideal place to disconnect, and enjoy the landscape and the environment. In the house you can find everything you need to spend a few days on vacation. The terrace is a luxury. Thanks Gwynedd for everything, it has been a pleasure to meet you. 100% recommendable. If we return to the Alpujarra we repeat insurance in the little house.

  • If you want an outstanding experience in The Alpujarras stay here! It was fantastic, Esther has amazing style , her attention to detail is exceptional.. she is a Super Special host.. I recommend this place highly.

  • The house is beautiful, full of beautiful details and very clean. The environment is wonderful, in the middle of nature, near the house there is a walking path that reaches a very small town that seems abandoned but with a lot of charm. The house has a garden and magical rooms. I definitely recommend it 100% and I hope to repeat soon. Esther's dog is adorable.

    Elisa2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time here again. The casita is great and the wood burner warmed up the house nicely in the cold evenings. Warm, sunny days meant that we were to able to make the most of the great walks from the house, enthusiastically accompanied by Esther's dog Yama as always. Esther is a great host. Highly recommended.

    Paul2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Esthers house was amazing. She has multiple houses on the same grounds as which she describes as a small village on it’s own when they are all full of guests. With and around the houses, she has made multiple cute courtyards with each there own charm. The place is very green and peaceful. The house is tasteful decorated and the attention for detail is great. Esther has her own little store with a few products you can buy from her. Especially if you like hiking the place is located nicely, relatively nearby great hiking spots of sierra nevada/Alpujarra. You do need a car to drive around the area, there is public transport but I think it is not advicable. Overall out stay was great and Esthers place really made us experience the countryside of sierra nevada.

    Kimberley2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • El Cortijo la Viñuela is a paradise minutes from gorgeous hikes and some of the most beautiful villages one can visit in Spain. Everything was immaculately kept, extremely clean and Esther is a fantastic host - prompt communication and excellent recommendations for things to see and places to eat and visit in the area. We had the most wonderful experience and are already looking forward to our return.

    Pitres, Granada, Spain

Cortijo Opazo, a restored farm house, offers two well furnished holiday apartments within a beautiful garden and surrounded by fabulous mountain scenery. Close to local villages and an ideal base from which to enjoy walking in the Sierra Nevada.
La Corona - spacious valley facing apartment provides accommodation for two people in one double bedroom with kitchen/diner and sitting room. From the south facing verandah of Cortijo Opazo the entrance of La Corona leads into the open plan living accommodation. This is a spacious area with a three seater sofa, two arm chairs, a large dining table, four dining chairs, a well stocked bookcase and a log burning stove. There is a television that receives Spanish TV only, but can also be used to play CDs and DVDs. Wi Fi is available free of charge. The kitchen is fully equipped with fitted cupboards, full sized oven, a glass ceramic hob with four rings, overhead extractor fan and full sized fridge. Plates cutlery etc are provided for at least four people and there is an extensive range of cooking equipment. The kitchen is tiled with ceramics in traditional local designs, and is clean and modern. From the kitchen there is a short connecting passage that leads to the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom is fully tiled with a sink, W.C. and walk-in 'wet room' style shower with an Oxygene power shower. Shelves, hooks, mirrors, towel rails and a wall cupboard are fitted. Next to the bathroom is the bedroom with a double bed (200cms x 150cms) side cupboards with table lamps, a wardrobe and extra hanging space. This light and airy room has two windows facing east and south that look out onto the surrounding countryside. La Corona is situated to the front of Cortijo Opazo and has a glorious south facing covered verandah (known locally as a tinao) with expansive views out over the valley of the Rio Trevelez and across the summit of La Corona to the mountains of the Contraviesa. To one side of the verandah there is an open patio for your exclusive use which enjoys sun all day long. Outdoor tables, chairs and sun-loungers allow guests to take full advantage of this splendid location. The private patio area leads on to the delightful communal garden where there is plenty of space for you to find your own secluded corner. Throughout the accommodation the floors have been finished in warm terracotta ceramic tiles. La Corona is ideal for two people. We can supply a portable bed for the sitting room which would be suitable for a child or a teenager. A cot and a high chair are also available.

  • We have been very good at La Placeta. A very cozy place full of details to make you feel at ease. The perfect garden and pool the apartment too, Jaime and Manolo think of all the details to enjoy your stay at home and Manolo is a very good cook! 100% recommendable.

    Isabel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb exceeds any expectations you may have. The apartment is spotlessly clean and exceptionally equipped: there were condiments, oil, coffee and all the utensils you'd need to cook. We had our own small, peaceful terrace and then of course, the shared garden. The hammocks, honesty bar and pool were delightful after a morning hike. The attention to detail throughout is impeccable. Jaime and Manolo couldn't do enough to help and advise us in the local area. Although we didn't use them there was the opportunity for dinner to be made by Manolo and brought to your apartment and a massage service from Jaime. The small village of Portugos has everything you'd need (a bakery, supermarket, pharmacy and bar) but we found our car really useful to be able to explore. This is a true gem and we can't recommend it enough.

  • La Placeta is an oasis of peace in wonderful Pórtugos, in the heart of the not-so-touristic alpujarras. A place to experience much without making much effort. Clean, warm and truly alpujarreña. And Jaime & Manolo were there for anything we needed and more. Our 2-year old wouldn't stop asking for their dogs, cats and chicken since we left. 200% repeatable!

This magnificently restored centuries old olive mill has a unique style with open and bright spaces, a (private) green courtyard with fruit trees and swimming pool. Enjoy the wonderful view over the green valley of the Rio Guadalfeo from the covered south terrace. Walking routes from the mill. The beautiful Alhambra in Granada is just less than an hour and 15 minutes drive away. Price includes firewood. Additional options: catering, professional massage, color & image consultation and more.
In this beautifully renovated olive mill, many original details have been preserved such as the millstones and the oil jugs. The result is a holiday accommodation with a unique style and historic significance, with open, light spaces surrounded by thick stone walls that insulate warmth and cold. The accommodation is divided into two buildings separated by the green courtyard of approximately 200 m2. This space is surrounded by a characteristic wall with wrought iron gate and contains lawns, flowers, fruit trees and a swimming pool (6 x 3 M.) with sunbeds. Most of the time the rustling of the wind through the adjacent eucalyptus trees is the only sound that disturbs the silence. The main house, with the large kitchen, dining room, living room (TV with Netflix and Youtube), hall and one of the bedrooms, offers a beautiful view of the green and fertile valley of the Rio Guadalfeo from the kitchen and the adjacent and adjacent covered south terrace. The total floor space of the house is 220 m2, a large part of which is occupied by the living room, which is suitable for larger groups. The olive mill has 3 bedrooms. One of them in the main building. The other 2, together with 2 bathrooms, are located in the house on a slightly higher level in the courtyard. The third bedroom with 3 beds has its own bathroom. (The bathrooms / toilets are on the higher level in the courtyard). Wifi in- and outside. The renovated olive mill is pure luxury with rustic furniture. The "Granada Walk No 7" starts near the mill. From here it goes up into the national park and to the white mountain villages of the Alpujarras. In addition, there are also shorter walks directly from the mill in the beautiful valley including one with lots of shade. There is also a telescope in the mill. Because there is absolutely no light pollution in the area, you can see very clear the starry sky close-up after sunset. Parking is about 80 meters from the property on the avenue that comes from Orgiva. From here it is a short climb to the mill. (There is no car access to the house). Orgiva is 12 minutes by car from the mill and has shops, bars and restaurants to meet all your needs. Don't feel like leaving the house / terrace for a restaurant visit? With lots of love and experience we provide catering in consultation with regards to preference and / or diet. Transport from and to the airport can also be arranged. For a longer stay, an interim cleaning can be arranged. From Orgiva the drive to the sea (Motril / Salobrena) takes 35 minutes and to Granada 1 hour. On a hill overlooking the city of Granada is the Alhambra, the last fortress and palace of the Moors. Definitely worth a visit for its gardens and fine Moorish architecture (advance booking is recommended in high season).
Beautiful nature. Peace and quiet but also not far from the beach and the city of Granada.
  • Great space, beautifully restored, with beautiful views of the river valley, making the short walk up the track well worth the effort. We really enjoyed the historical / traditional aspects of the old mill, as well as the great communications from Peet - everything we needed for our holiday, plus we were able to entertain friends and family who live locally. The wood burner kept the house cozy in February, and the pool is no doubt a welcome amenity in warmer weather.
