  • This place was fantastic for the location (very central) and communication with the host who made sure things were alright. Quite spacious and good price as well. If you have trouble finding the entry: you do have to go into the alleyway and turn into the stairs. Great stay in a lovely place.

  • Great value location for those looking to explore Campbeltown. A well stocked kitchen was really nice to see!

  • Very good location to visit Campbeltown and its main attraction namely the Springbank Distillery. The accommodation is very well equipped including the kitchen. Everything is available for a good stay. Only the address located in a narrow and dark alley is difficult to locate when arriving at night.

  • Great place and perfectly located in town.

    Scott2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect base for our whisky trip. Even though we never met Pete, he was very responsive to questions. The place does need a little bit of TLC but superb value and we really enjoyed our stay.

We offer a comfortable room with one double and one single bed. Kintyre offers many beautiful walks and drive with one of the most popular being down to the Mull of Kintyre and a stop at Muneroy cafe is a must for cake lovers. We can provide a cot and high chair if required.
Plenty to see and do from Davar Island to the Mull of Kintyre. It a lovely place for a relaxing holiday. If you are a golf fan there is the Old Machrihanish Course and also the more modern and environmental friendly course of Machrihanish Dunes. There are beautiful walks, distilleries and much more right here on our doorstep
  • For us Christine's place was ideally located and minutes walk from the golf course and local hotel. Christine could not have been any friendlier or more generous. She also kindly gave us a lift along to the hotel where we had booked for dinner (old coach house) The room was just perfect and as advertised, great value for money. When we come back to play some of the other courses we will be hoping you have availability. Many thanks - David

This detached timber Cabin is in a lovely location, just 30 metres from the sea shore, with wonderful views of the west coast islands of Islay, Jura, Gigha and Cara. This charming property, previously the annex to a Victorian hunting lodge, has been modernised to provide comfortable holiday accommodation. Most of the rooms are timber lined, adding to the rustic charm of the Cabin. The rooms are bright and cheerful with comfortable furnishings.
The Cabin is let out on a self-catering basis. Bookings should be made with at least 3 days notice and a minimum of 3 nights stay is required. There are 3 bedrooms, one double and the other two each with two single beds. A cot is available if required. The spacious lounge/dining room has patio doors leading to the garden with a step down onto the patio. The shower-room is fitted with a shower, WC and washbasin. The modernised kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, hob, microwave, refrigerator and automatic washing machine. A dryer is available on request, in the rear porch of the main house. A colour TV with Freeview and DVD player are located in the lounge. Thermostatically controlled electric heating is provided throughout, the cost of which is included in the tariff. All areas, internal to the cabin are on one level but the cabin is not fully accessible for thse with limited mobility - please contact the host for further information for any special accessibility needs. Muasdale is situated 23 miles south of Tarbert and 15 miles north of Campbeltown, on the A83. This is an ideal spot to take advantage of the unique attractions that the Kintyre peninsula offers. These include ferry trips to Gigha, Islay, Jura, Arran or Colonsay. Fishing, golf and bird watching can all be enjoyed in the vicinity.
The long-distance path known as the Kintyre Way, zigzags down the Kintyre peninsular, providing a variety of walking opportunities to both the serious and casual walkers alike. Details of the routes may be found on the explorekintyre website which provides maps covering the whole 100 mile stretch of the long distance walk. Crubasdale Lodge Cabin provides a base from which to explore the Kintyre trail and sample some spectacular scenery on the way. For the water sport enthusiast there is excellent surfing and windsurfing at Machrihanish. There are some great scuba diving sites all around the peninsula and the islands, with compressed air available in Campbeltown, Southend & Tarbert. There are also some wonderful white, sandy beaches with crystal clear waters for those wishing a more relaxing time exploring rock pools or to just laze on the beach. Golf can be played at Machrihanish, Tarbert, Gigha, Carradale and Southend where it is possible to play on some of the best links in the country, but be warned it can be very busy during the summer. If you are lucky you might spot otters, golden eagles and dolphins. Buzzards are almost as common as sparrows here! If all else fails, there are always the Crubasdale cats to keep you entertained.
  • This is a fantastic cabin only a stones throw away from the beach. We have been several times as a family and find ourselves returning over and over again. Ken and Linda couldn't be better hosts.

    Calum2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely adored my time here and I'm already trying to work out when I might be able to pop back! The cabin is spotlessly clean, very comfy and situated in a beautiful location. I loved being able to literally just cross the road to get to the beach, and it was only a short (and very pretty) drive to Campbeltown for supplies. Linda and Ken were such lovely, helpful hosts too! Thank you both so much for a brilliant stay.

    Elly2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Spotless cabin well situated for exploring the Kintyre peninsula. Well appointed with everything you need for a week or two. Easy access down to the beach and a very good sized garden too. Couldn’t really ask for more!

  • We had a fantastic time! Perfect family base. Felt luxurious having a garden to use and the beautiful beach so close. Linda and Ken are lovely, we all felt very comfortable. We needed to relax and this special place allowed us to do just that and find adventures too. :)

On Kintyre’s stunning west coast, only yards from a beautiful sandy beach, this traditional cottage is located on a quiet lane. Originally two cottages, dating back to 1862, the property was totally renovated in 2017, to create a luxurious, two bedroom home with a contemporary, open plan living space with woodburning stove. This is a tranquil retreat from which to explore the surrounding area. The cottage has sea views to front and rear and unrivalled views across to Gigha, Islay and Jura.
Situated on a quiet lane leading down to the beach, the cottage has just undergone a complete internal rebuild to provide a warm, modern home. The living space is open plan with comfortable couches around a new wood-burning stove. The kitchen comes fully equipped complete with electric hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The cottage has two large bedrooms, one having en-suite facilities with a large, walk-in shower. There is a separate bathroom with shower. A welcoming entrance porch is the place to leave your coats and boots. The property has electric panel heating in all rooms. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included. Initial bag of logs, kindlers and firelighters for wood burner included, remainder available through an honesty box. A Travel cot and highchair are available on request.
The surrounding area is well-known for its fine beaches, unspoilt countryside and scenic walks, with the addition of the Kintyre Way, making this an ideal location from which to explore the Kintyre Peninsula. Lying just off the west coast of Kintyre, the Isle of Gigha offers a pleasant day trip. Within a short distance, there are many quiet and sandy beaches to explore and there is easy access to the isles of Islay, Arran and Jura. Jura is one of the wildest and most mountainous of the Inner Hebrides. Islay is great for wildlife enthusiasts, as it boasts a large RSPB reserve, a wintering population of barnacle and white-fronted geese, and a wildlife information centre. The Machrihanish Bird Observatory is located nearby at Gauldrons Beach and is fantastic for watching migratory birds. For the outdoor enthusiast there is walking, cycling, fishing and water sports and for golfers, there are world renowned golf courses close by in Machrihanish. Beach 50 yards. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 4 miles.
  • Charlie's Cottage and the Kintyre Peninsula are brilliant places to stay, in every way! We can't imagine a more beautifully-situated cottage -- very quiet on its own rocky point, with two very different beaches on either side of the little headland, just steps from the cottage -- both beaches are so lovely, walkable and swimmable, with gorgeous water and views, including sunsets -- and most of the time, you'll be the only people on them! The cottage is also in a fantastic location for easily exploring the entire, wonderful (and relatively undiscovered) Kintyre Peninsula and the Isle of Gigha in day-trips -- as well as having a very good central location for all the restaurants, cafes, shops, activities, etc. you will need. Lots of super eating and drinking options in Kintyre! The cottage itself is brilliant in every way. Very up-to-date, very clean and comfortable and well-cared for, and very well furnished and kitted-out -- as well as being spacious, bright, private, fabulous to be inside or be outdoors in the garden, and so easy to be there whatever the weather. Possibly the best cottage we've ever rented! We fell in love with this part of Scotland and with Charlie's Cottage -- we will indeed be back, and next time, for longer than one week! Huge thanks to Ian and Marian for being such communicative, responsive, helpful, caring, interested, and thoughtful hosts.

  • Lovely cottage, beautifully renovated and fully equipped with everything you might need while you're away. Hosts were there to greet us when we arrived and were very welcoming, were available if we needed anything and had left us some useful provisions. Location is ideal for exploring the islands...the ferry to gigha is 5 minutes drive while the one to islay is just over 20 minutes away. Although we didn't visit Arran on this occasion, the ferry is about a 30 minute drive away. The cottage is ideal for young kids as there is a secure garden, and at the end of the road there is a walkway down to a lovely sandy beach. Just be sure to take some provisions..there is a small store at glenbarr a few miles away, but the nearest supermarkets are in campbeltown. Would recommend a trip down to southend for some cake at the Muneroy tearoom, but be sure to book as it is small and always busy...our jaws dropped when the cakes were brought out! Would highly recommend this cottage if you're looking for some time out and a chance to explore the kintyre peninsula and surrounding islands.

  • Everything about the experience at Charlies Cottage was fantastic. McIntyre is a friendly and extremely beautiful place to visit and Charlies Cottage is the perfect place to experience it

    Philip2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ian is a very welcoming host and the cottage is very spacious and comfortable with just about every amenity you could want including hot and cold running wildlife just down the lane! Unfortunately we didn't see the otters, but we did see a pod of dolphins off the shore along with red deer and seals not too far away. Kintyre has everything if you like walking and nature with numerous beautiful and deserted beaches. We also took the ferry to the isles of Arran and Gigha, both of which are recommended.

    Chris2019-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie's Cottage is idyllic. It is cosy and stylish with all the modern comforts of home. The views are marvelous and the beach just down the path. Kintyre is a truly beautiful place to go on holiday. Many incredible beaches without the crowds, lots of opportunity to relax and just take in the Scottish Air. All topped off by returning to Charlie's Cottage at the end of the day. Perfection!

Scottish hospitality at its best!

  • Margaret and Iain were amazing hosts! They were very welcoming towards us and did everything to make us feel at home on their farm. The room was really cozy with a small wood-stove and a comfortable bed. Their house is rather remote, but with Margarets directions it was easy to find and the place is definitely worth the journey (by the way, the water-pressure of the shower was a delight compared to British standards :D)! We spent two nights with them and had a wonderful time talking, discussing and laughing together. As they described in their profile, they do have pets at home, which are all kind, sweet and friendly (we met a lovely dog and cat). We would definitely book a stay with them again. Highly recommended!

Seascape, a charming farmhouse annexe, is the perfect and affordable getaway for holiday guests and those in the area for work. Our cliff-top farm overlooks Bellochantuy Bay and is surrounded by beautiful scenery and coastal views. ‘Seascape’ offers comfortable, cosy and relaxed accommodation from which to explore Kintyre’s beaches and attractions. In the evening why not take advantage of the close proximity of the Argyll Hotel, bar and restaurant, with spectacular views of the setting sun.
We are a family farm, with sheep and cattle. We also have free range hens, pigs and grow vegetables and cut flowers.
Bellochantuy has a beautiful beach, sunsets, walks and a hotel serving fantastic food with a public bar. Seals are common along this stretch of the Atlantic seaboard. Campbeltown is a 15 minute drive south down the coastal road. It has all the facililities of a small town, swimming pool (with sea views!), museum, tourist info, lovely walks. Very close to fantastic golf courses, Machrahanish Dunes and Machrahanish. Westport beach, popular with surfers and known for its rolling sand dunes is close by. There is easy access to some of the Islands from here, Gigha is a short ferry ride away and Islay and Jura ferry port 20 minutes north from here.
  • Hannah's place is wonderful and in such a beautiful location. Hannah was a very attentive and friendly host; she greeted us as we arrived and told us about places to visit while in Kintyre. The accommodation itself was incredibly comfortable and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be looking forward to coming back at some point.

  • Lesley's place was absolutely perfect for our visit to Campbeltown. Close to the harbour with a wee view and within walking distance of the pubs and restaurants in the downtown. Just around the corner from Glen Scotia Distillery and a ten minute walk to Springbank and Glengyle. The flat was super easy to find coming off the main road and Lesley was kind enough to meet us with the key and show us around the flat. It was lovely and cosy, perfect if you want to visit Campbeltown for a couple days!

UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO THE CURRENT CRISIS, WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT ANY GUESTS. Delightful one bedroom cottage located in beautiful Kintyre. Spectacular scenery and perfect for tranquil walks.
  • Warm, friendly welcome, comfortable bed, quiet location,

  • A nice spacious cottage very close to the shore. The bedroom is very cosy and has it’s own semi-fireplace. I enjoyed it staying there and would recommend that place. Note: at the moment there is no WIFI and the connection on this peninsula very bad. Nice for an internet detox or, especially for foreign guests, a black hole for the data volume.

    Patricia2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable with stunning views , ideally situated for a trip over to Isle of Gigha .

    Pat2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location. Stunning views. Clean and very comfortable. Everything we needed. A very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

    Daniel2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy cottage with a beautiful view on the sea and if you are lucky, some sheep :) We particularly liked the fireplace, the garden and the silence. We would come back anytime.

    Alicja2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent value for money and perfect base to explore the area.

    Helen2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • David’s place is spotless clean and bigger than it looks like in pictures. Kitchen is very well equiped, we had everything what we needed. Multiple heaters make it warm within minutes. Views are just amazing! It was great to wake up to the view of sea, hills and sheep, really lovely! Perfect location for visiting Islay, Gigha or Arran, close to ferries. We had great time and wished to stay longer

    Mariola2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • David is a perfect host; he even speaks a little French! The cottage is cozy and very well equipped and offers a beautiful sea-land view: grazing where sheep graze and sea in the distance. Perfect change of scenery for us Parisians! Thank you David!

Everyone has a special place in their hart where one can escape from busy day to day life and reflect, rest and reenergise. My charming farm cottage is that place! It is a place on the far west cost of Scotland and I call it ...The end of the World...because it is where the land stops and the ocean starts. It is a perfect place to rest, walk, surf and experience magnificent Scotland. I hope this little holiday home will generate a great collection of memories for many people. Wellcome !
Campbeltown is the main town 7 miles away; it has two supermarkets (Co-op and Tesco) plus many interesting small shops, Indian and Chinese, fish and chips and cafes including The Picture House which is also a cinema and the Bluebell café near the harbour a petrol station, library and swimming pool, hospital and other services; Royal Hotel on the seafront does a nice dinner; other villages: Southend 8 miles from Campbeltown has St Columbas Footsteps, beach and a traditional tearoom and delicious homemade cakes. Machrihanish has golf courses and a lovely long beach for walks and surfing including Westport beach which is 3 minutes from the cottage and has a large car park (right hand side on the road to Campbeltown); other villages and distilleries to visit.
  • The cottage's location is absolute prime. It's only 5 mins drive away from one of the most iconic Scottish beaches - Machrihanish Beach. Local surfing school is nearby and would be a great bonus in spring/summer months . The cottage itself is lovely & feels peaceful inside. No noises or disturbances nearby just stunning views & lovely garden at the back with barbecue. Spacious kitchen/living room. It is fresh & decorated to accommodate a family with kids or a couple. We enjoyed our time & would definitely come back again!

  • Lovely little pod with so much packed in to such a small place using clever storage solutions and well the hot tub speaks for itself, especially when your under a sky full of stars

    Brad2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The CaraPod is such a brilliant, unique experience. Right on the shore, it is really clever use of space and so well situated for exploring the beautiful Kintyre peninsula. We very much hope to return!

    Camilla2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fab time staying at the CarraPod. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed beautiful sunsets and nights gazing at the stars in the delightful wood fired hot tub. We absolutely loved our stay and have already been recommending it to friends!

    Laura2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Carapod was super clean and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. The view from the pod was stunning in the evening, great for sitting out having dinner. The hot tub was a real bonus and something quite unique to the stay. My partner and I loved our stay and would highly recommend to anyone wanting somewhere special.

    Michael2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was the most inviting host and had the hot tub ready for my dip also the bed ready and made up. The CaraPod was fully equipped with everything to hand and it was my little bit of heaven for 2 nights. Even with the wild weather blowing in it did not stop my enjoyment of a beach walk meeting the friendly neighbours and dogs in this lovely part of Scotland. I would sincerely recommend this property for couples or single person as a great place to escape to.

    Fiona2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place to stay! The location is absolutely incredible and the pod is amazing with great amenities. Loved the bbq area and the hot tub area is very private which is nice. The hosts were very helpful with any issues or questions we had! We would definitely go back for another stay!

A cosy, quaint character cottage in a very quiet small village. Beautiful beaches and lovely walks. An escape from the rat race. A peaceful place to unwind and relax. There is a private garden at the back with a stream/river running along the bottom. Good location for access to ferries for Islay, Gigha and Arran. Please note breakfast provided is cereals, toast, etc. not a cooked breakfast, but kitchen facilities allow for you to cook breakfast if you wish.
We are pet friendly - two dogs maximum. No extra charge.
Beautiful location on the Kintyre peninsula.
  • Great wee cottage, has everything you need and the bed is super comfy! The stream and the bottom of the garden makes it really special. It's a great base for exploring kintyre or the islands. We would definitely return, and can't wait to explore more. Ian and Linda were lovely welcoming hosts, and we would recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the area. Will definitely be back!

    Pierre2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, great location for exploring Kintyre, so much lovely landscape & scenery; we intended making it to at least one island, but never made it in the end- no need, too much to do! Recommend the Argyll beaver & wildlife trust- very friendly, & great guided walks. What was especially nice about staying here was the great hospitality from Linda & Ian, we (including our two dogs) couldn't have felt more welcome & relaxed. Highly recommended (although hope to come back, so don;t all book at once :-) )

    Rat2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is a really lovely place to escape to. Nice garden and log fire too. Great walk down to a wild beach looking out to the islands. Convenient for ferries to Islay, Jura and Gigha (Gigha is a good day trip), and the local petrol station has a decent shop too.

    Bob2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is interesting!! Linda is a great host and the cottage is roomy and full of character. It also has a beautiful babbling stream less than 10 metres from the back door. Clachan is very small, you need a car, if not to get there, then to get around. There is no cafe/restaurant for miles though some groceries are available at the service station nearby and the kitchen is adequately equipped. The beach is nice but it is a 20 minute walk through farmland and some rough paths to get there. But Clachan is handy to the entire Kintyre peninsula and so there is some beautiful beaches and scenery in the vicinity.

    Richard2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • A great wee retreat to come back to and a central location to explore Kintyre and the islands.

    Helen2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cottage with spacious bedroom. In the garden you can enjoy the evening sun. In the living room you can light the wood stove, this adds extra atmosphere to the cottage.

  • This place was simply great. Located in the heart of Campbeltown, it doesn’t get much better than this. Everything is within walking distance, and the Cadenhead Whisky Shop is literally across the street! Wonderfully placed, particularly if you’re on the hunt for that perfect dram. This place is ideal for a couple, smaller group or small family. Peter’s touches are thoughtful, and there wasn’t anything we felt we needed to ask while we were there. My only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer.

So convenient, we made two trips to Islay on the wonderful ferry (only 15 min from the Airbnb)! Absolute perfect home-base from which to explore the picturesque Kintyre peninsula.

This is an airy 2 bedroom semi detached bungalow situated in the midst of the original village of Ardminish on the community owned Isle of Gigha. Newly freshened, the house boasts a new kitchen and wood burning stove with back boiler. In the colder months you can cosy up in the living room but the fire will happily heat the whole home. A small front and back private garden and driveway with a BBQ are also accessible. You have a view of the Sound of Gigha from the rear of the house.
The house is fairly central on the island with the main amenities less than a ten minute walk away. The award winning Boathouse Restaurant (seasonal; booking recommended) serves up a plethora of local fish dishes and also something for the herbivores and carnivore alike right on the shore of Ardminish Bay. (10 mins walk) The Gigha Hotel Bistro & Restaurant (year round) provides a wide range of dishes with fish, meat and kid specific menus available. The Hotel also boasts a large beer garden, public bar and pool room. (2 minute walk) The Pottery Café adjacent to the hotel offers Soup, Sandwich and Cakes within the setting of a fine art gallery, a quick phone ahead is usually advised as opening hours can vary with the season. (3 minute walk) Achamore Gardens, a world renowned spectacle, is a 10-15 walk away and showcases some very rare Rhododendrons and azaleas including the Horlick Collection. Ardminish Stores, the local shop, stocks a wide and exciting variety of products. Everything you could imagine seems to adorn the shelves but just message them if you have any specific requests to put your mind to rest. You are just a five minute walk from one of the most picturesque and sheltered beaches on Gigha. Known as Jonny’s Shore it is a great spot for a picnic and sometimes serves as a site for weddings.
The Village is quiet and serene and most of the properties in the surrounding area are occupied full time by friendly locals, if you have any questions about the island most will happily fill you in!

    Mo2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely, spacious and comfortable, with a well-equiped kitchen, a large living room, and comfortable bedrooms, and we really enjoyed our stay. As with the entire island, the house was in a very peaceful and quiet area, with lots of birdsong and virtually no traffic, and it was only a five minute walk from the house to a beautiful beach. The house was also only a couple of minutes walk from the Gigha Hotel, and less than ten minutes from the Boathouse and the ferry, and as such it felt a great base for exploring the whole island. Joe was very helpful, and everything at the house was very well organized, with plenty of local information about things to do on the island.

Marna was an outstanding host, easily contactable and the check-in experience was very simple. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others. Thanks for a great stay.

    Alexanderina2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great! Right in the center of town, looking directly out at the water. The place is very large with high ceilings. Had a fabulous time.

  • Marna's apartment is very clean, well equipped and in a great location, wonderful shower, comfy bed and fantastic view over Campbeltown harbour, great amenities and a back area to sit out in and hang the washing, good sized TV and plenty of lounge seating, would highly recommend this property.

Located on the small island of Davaar, we have lovingly restored the former Lighthouse Keepers Cottage into a beautiful and luxurious one/two bedroom cottage. Enjoy complete peace and quiet, stunning views, and all the amenities you could wish for. Overlooking the sea and set in its own private compound, the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage is modern, spacious and extremely comfortable. The island is accessible at low tide by 4x4 or on foot. Guests are transported by 4x4 on and off.
The Lighthouse Cottage is set in the compound of some 2.5 acres. There is a private garden to the rear and the compound gate is closed at all timed to ensure privacy for guests. Ned and Toni (your hosts) caretake the Island with their dogs Dudley & Binley. They live in the end building which is quite separate from the rest of The Lighthouse area. Ned & Toni will greet you at the beginning and end of your stay, and are available for any queries or to help during your stay but otherwise you will be very much in solitude. Providing privacy & solitude to our guests is very important to us! There is another small cottage perched up on the hill outside the compound called The Lookout which is available for weekly holiday lets. Both are entirely separate and private from each other.
Situated on the small island of Davaar near Campbeltown on The Mull of Kintyre. The Lighthouse Keepers Cottage is the former home to the Island’s Lighthouse Keeper and is situated in the Southern tip of the Island next to the Lighthouse itself. Whilst the Lighthouse is now automated, we have recently lovingly converted the house into a beautiful & cosy holiday house from which to get away from it all. There is an enormous sense of peace and quiet staying here, and near 360 seaviews, surrounded by outstanding scenery and briming with sea life (otters, dolphins, golden eagles, peregrine falcons and even Minke Whale are all seen off the shores of the island). ABOUT THE LIGHTHOUSE KEEPERS COTTAGE The house is detached with its own private fenced in garden. There is a large double bedroom with kingsize bed (with electric blanket), bathroom with shower/wc. Also on the first floor is a twin room with panoramic sea views and of the lighthouse. On the ground floor there is a large open plan kitchen/dining/ sitting room with cosy wood burning stove (unlimited supply of wood). The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences including induction hob, decent sized fridge and separate freezer unit. Microwave, dishwasher & washing machine also. Off the kitchen area there is an office with bureau and comfortable separate sitting room with a large supply of books and games for relaxing on rainy days. There is a further cloakroom/shower/wc on the ground floor. Please note that parents / carers are responsible for their children at all times on the island. There are sheer cliffs the other side of the compound wall so it is strongly advised for children to be supervised at all times and stay on the designated walking areas around the cottage and lighthouse area. Please note there is no washing machine, however Ned and Toni are happy to help out for guests staying longer than 3 nights. Features: King size bed Twin room 100% cotton bedding Towels, bath mats, hand towels, tea towels etc are all provided WIFI throughout Dogs welcome – but not in bedrooms/upstairs. Please keep dogs on leads near livestock. Natural spring water supply Shops 4 miles Sea-fishing off variety of points on the island. Fantastic variety of walks on and around the island. Secure enclosed garden with garden furniture Firepit for BBQ / Stargazing Lobster Pots Snorkelling Kit Fishing equipment Parking nearby on mainland – we will transfer you with your luggage by 4x4 at the start and end of your stay.
  • Ned and Toni are really nice and helpful hosts. The cottage is well equipped, the island was beautiful and peaceful. We had a very good time there . We even saw a magnificient rainbow above the lighthouse!

    Benjamin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend on Davaar Island! The weather was extremely stormy so we couldn’t explore as much as we would have liked, but we enjoyed snuggling up in the cosy cottage with the fireplace and plenty of board games and books! Ned and Toni were very friendly and helpful and clearly love the place.

    Ailsa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a nice time in the cottage. Made a BBQ, had some fresh eggs, explored the island! What more could you ask for?

    Harry2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our New Years aim every year is get somewhere remote and beautiful. We knew the location would be stunning from the listing. We knew we loved Scottish hospitality and a great distillery. We knew Davaar would be remote enough for us to completely detox from the daily grind. We didn’t appreciate how welcoming Toni and Ned would be and all the thoughtful things they’d do for our visit. The cottage is beautifully equipped and extremely comfortable and cosy. Our hosts went above and beyond, leaving fresh eggs and making sure we had all we needed. We’ve been totally relaxed the whole time. We went off the island once to visit Springbank distillery, where we found more awesome people and had a great time. The Island was so beautiful, with a small group of goats and many seabirds, plus the odd seal and Peregrine Falcon to marvel at. We can’t recommend this place enough, our hosts have made our annual hunt for tranquility and relaxation absolutely perfect.

    Stephanie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is absolutely great! It has everything for a comfortable short or long stay. Ned is awesome. He has many entertaining life stories and never short on jokes. Probably like most of the people who stayed on the island the only regret is the short stay. Definitely a place to unwind and meet fauna residents up close :-)

    Elena2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ned was an amazing host, very friendly and accommodating and helped us feel right at home. I would definitely recommend staying at Davaar Island, not only is the location beautiful but it’s so peaceful apart from the odd sheep :) and calming, a great place to get away from it all. Thank you both so much for having us to stay with you, we will definitely be coming back to stay again!

    Daniel2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautifully clean and well equipped. Toni and Ned are always helpful and easy to contact. If you enjoy a slightly different holiday and love peace and quiet then Davaar island is a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.

    Debbie2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic getaway spot. The hosts were incredible, the cottage was perfect, and the island is a marvelous place to explore. We loved every minute and wished we could have stayed longer.

  • This flat is exactly as advertised, in fact better!!! The owner kept regular contact in the days leading up to our visit and met us as planned at the flat. She was very helpful when showing us around and there were lots of nice touches in the flat, which included milk and juice in the fridge, coffee and tea and millionaires short bread. Everything I could possibly have forgotten to take with had not been overlooked by Liz, who a stock of essentials..... What a star!!! Thanks again Bill

    William2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Liz’s place is GORGEOUS!! It’s such a wonderful place to relax and so, so comfy. It’s in a great location to have a wee wander around town and nice and cozy to come home to if you get caught in a freak hailstorm, like we did. The freezer didn’t work which was quite disappointing (since our ice cream melted before we planned to enjoy it), but we realized this the night before we checked out, so there was no time for them to fix it during our stay. The pots and pans were a bit worse for wear as well, but it’s a good sized kitchen and well-stocked with kitchen gadgets (though a cafetière/French press would’ve been nice for anyone who likes real [non-instant] coffee). There was even a needle and thread which I was sooooo grateful for because I tore my pjs early in our trip and hadn’t had the supplies to repair it until this stay. As for the rest of the place, the bathroom is a bit tight, but the shower was good and the lounge is huge and comfy. It’s on the first floor (ie up one flight of stairs for any non-Brits), so there’s a nice view of the street & back garden. We had a little trouble finding it (HINT: just put Argyll St in your satnav), but Liz and her husband met us there and showed us around, which was much appreciated.

    Ariana2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Everything was very clean and Liz was super helpful.

    Skye2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in Liz's flat for work commitments and couldn't fault the location, cleanliness and communications with Liz and would highly recommend anyone looking for a great place to stay when visiting Campbeltown.

    Paul2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated flat in the town centre, yet very peaceful. So comfortable and spacious. Liz’s hospitality is second to none. Highly recommend staying in this beautiful flat.

    Catherine2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and comfortable apartment that has everything you would ever require. A definite home from home. Liz thoughtfully put in the fridge a pint of milk and provided an array of really tasty chocolate biscuits too! I cannot recommend this wonderful apartment enough. I for one will be back. Thank you Liz. X

The gables is a self contained holiday cottage in the village of Kilberry, Argyll.  It is in a convenient spot for exploring the surrounding area which is rich in wildlife and breathtaking scenery.  It is situated approximately 14 miles from Tarbert and 16 miles from Lochgilphead on the scenic single track B8024.  It is also conveniently situated (2 miles) for events and celebrations being held at Crear.  The Gables boasts access to it's own private beach which guests are welcome to use (this is dependant on the location of livestock. Please ask for details) Kilberry Inn is a short 10 minute walk away and the historic and interesting Kilberry Stones are a hop, skip and jump away. At The Gables you can enjoy comfortable accommodation with the added convenience of SkyQ TV, free WiFi and wireless phone charging to keep you connected (should you wish to).  This makes it an ideal base no matter the weather.  You can also enjoy your own outside patio area and free parking area with space for two cars. The double bed is comfortable with feather and down duvet and pillows to help give you a restful sleep. A double fold up bed and travel cot are available on request for extra guests (please note that the bathroom is en-suite) As The Gables is situated on a working farm we regret that pets will not usually be permitted especially around lambing and calving time.  Please get in touch if you have a specific request to bring your 4 legged friend. (Cleaning charge applies) This also means that you may hear the daily trappings of our daily work which includes the sound of tractors, quad bikes and sheepdogs which all adds to your country experience. *Due to the layout of the building unfortunately The Gables is not suitable for  wheelchair users. **Please note that due to our geographical situation we can only offer 4g mobile wifi which has a monthly limit and may not be as fast or reliable as you are used to.  This is good for surfing the net and catching up with social media but isn't suitable for streaming your favourite film or TV shows. This is a free service to our guests. Discount available for stays of 4 nights or more More information can be found at www.thegablesargyll.com
  • We booked The Gables to go to a wedding a couple of miles along the road & we thought it was perfect for that. We love walking so enjoyed both the walk back after the dance under the stars and heading back to the venue the next day to clear our heads!! Loved the walk to the private beach the scenery is stunning and what a fabulous sunset the night of the wedding. The area is breathtaking and well worth exploring. Thankfully we were returning to a cosy warm bed after the event. Carol was so welcoming and a lovely host, couldn't have asked for more.

    Karen2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super stay at The Gables. Carol was a great host with great communication. The little basket of treats and basics was a lovely surprise. The private beach is amazing with some of the best views I have experienced. If you are looking for a peaceful break I would recommend The Gables!

  • An idyllic setting - the cottage is just next to a farmhouse and near to a private beach (wow!). The Gables is super cosy and spotlessly clean and we loved the little welcome treats. Carol was very thoughtful in regularly communicating with us to check we were ok and it was much appreciated. We spent time exploring the local beaches, Tarbet for seafood and walking in woodlands. Wonderful hosts and a wonderful house. Thank you!

    Abbie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Gables for a couple of nights during a reccy of the area. We found Carol to be a delightful host, who responded quickly to any communications and was very helpful with our enquires. The Gables is a charming place to stay & very cosy. We enjoyed our chats with the local sheep and cows. The area is beautiful, with everything you could possibly imagine, mountains, beaches & woods. We would definitely recommend!

  • Super few days that we wish was longer, so quiet and peaceful, but with everything you need for a home from home. A cosy and unique place hosted by a delightful couple in Carol and Donald, (not forgetting wee Finlay) with a quality restaurant a 10 minute walk away, and beautiful countryside and views, Great as a base for exploring Kintyre, and Gigha, and the Arran ferry is only about 45 minutes away. The private beach is stunning with ciews across to Jura. Lots of lovely touches in the cottage, great bed, lovely hot shower, great cooking facilities, and satellite tv, we just loved it. Highly recommend

Fantastic location overlooking the Old Quay - could watch fishing boats coming in while lying in bed (and also spot the resident harbour seals!). Light, well equiped and comfortable, this is a beautifully furnished cliff-top cottage, overlooking Kintyres dramatic Atlantic coastline. It's surrounded by stunning scenery and is the perfect base from which to explore the local beaches, distilleries and golf courses, as well as the local wee toon, Campbeltown. In the evening relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the setting sun or take advantage of the close proximity of the Argyll Hotel's bar and restaurant.
The Farm Cottage was formarly the shepherds 'but and ben', a traditional, two roomed, west coast cottage, forming part of the farm-steading and byre. Recently redecorated, it now offers a fantastic holiday experince whilst still retaining an atmosphere of it's historic past. As an integral part of the farm there will be the sights, sounds and smells of farm animals and tractors. We are a working family farm, with free range hens, pigs, sheep, cattle.

Originally the Laundry Cottage for Bellgrove, this most attractive building has recently been completely re-configured and modernised, resulting in a warm, very well appointed, comfortable and welcoming holiday home. On the outskirts of and out of sight of the town, south facing and overlooking Campbeltown Loch and the hills beyond, Mary's Cottage provides an ideal base for the exploration of the historic town of Campbeltown and the Kintyre Peninsula.
  • This cottage is truly outstanding. Warm, comfortable, pretty and beautifully and thoughtfully fitted inside with every amenity, two bathrooms and a wood burning stove. Lovely views over Campbeltown loch, car parking in the grounds and a private terrace. Underfloor heating. Welcoming and friendly host. We really enjoyed our stay and we will assuredly return. Recommended highly.

  • Really enjoyed our stay at this marvelously restored charming, historic, well-kitted, spotless cottage. Terrific outdoor space and view, and two bathrooms to boot! David was a great communicator and a welcoming host. We’ve been coming to Campbeltown for many years, and are excited by this new (to us) addition to the local holiday rental market. We will be back!

  • David’s place is first class. It is very comfortable and clean. Very cosy cottage and in an ideal location for walking into town. This is my second time here as used while on business. The cottage has everything you need and more. I’d strongly recommend it and will be using again

  • This is a lovely cottage with a super view over looking Campbeltown Loch. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. David was an excellent host, replied to any inquiry immediately and the welcome pack of local produce was most a thoughtful touch. Would have no hesitation in staying here again.
