Places to stay in Tablelands Regional
Hemingway’s on the Hill is a rustic private indulgence. Set high on the hill, bearing witness to the best of rural life. Cows graze paddocks, and flocks of birds fly overhead. Life is everywhere. Curated by Interior Designer Fifi. She wrote a story for the life to be lived in the space. Like the great man himself, thoughtful yet spare enough with surprises of artful collection. We escaped the city 15 years ago. We found a better life. Come and stay and write your own love story.
Hemingway's on the Hill is a self contained cottage with wonderful views. Private, set in its own garden room. Outdoor bath, fire pit, gorgeous luxurious linen and comfortable bed and furniture. The main house, the original 100 year old Dairy farmhouse, is nearby. You share the garden with curlews, bandicoots, sunbirds, figbirds and more. There are lots of birds, butterflies and native animals to watch from the verandah. The cottage is fully screened so the wildlife will stay wild. We are central to a fantastic, growing, tourism region, waterfalls and bush walking. Swimming at Lake Eacham is a short drive away. The area has the most wonderful and diverse fauna and flora. Also you can indulge your tastes in the developing tropical food experiences, local cheeses, coffee, tea, hand picked strawberries, local ice-cream, farmers markets, cooking schools etc. Hemingway's is not suitable for children under 7 years old.

  • This place makes me sorry I’ve given other 5-star ratings because it sent a new benchmark. What an amazing place to stay! The place is beautifully designed (not just aesthetically - and that is absolutely great), but to provide everything you could possibly need to have an incredibly comfortable stay. From the surprising very generous locally sourced items, to wonderful and fun comfort features like an outdoor deep stone tub and fire place, and providing local tips and all sorts of extra’s to enable you to fully enjoy them - we couldn’t believe how incredibly wonderful it was. We planned initially for 2 days, but decided as soon as we got there to change that to a 4 day stay. It’s the perfect spot from which to explore all of the Atherton Tablelands. Fifi was a perfect host - total respect for privacy, but also frequently checking in to be sure we had everything we needed - and offering more! I would rate this place a 10 if that were possible!

  • We had the most wonderful weekend staying here! The location is stunning and the cottage is so homely full of beautiful touches. Will come back for sure one day!

  • It is an amazing little cottage, exceeded my expectations. Very clean, cosy it was perfect.

    Brett2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to Hemingway’s and it did not disappoint. A perfect getaway and escape from the stress and bustle of everyday life. The location is outstanding and Fifi has thought of every little touch to make the stay extra special. My favourite bath of all time:) Thanks for everything.

    Lindsay2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cutest little cottage in a great location. Fifi was great to communicate with and made our stay very special. Thank you! We hope to be back one day soon.

  • Hemingway's on the Hill is just absolutely glorious ! Thank you Fifi for your enormous generosity and talent in making this little cottage so supremely beautiful and enchanting.

    Amanda2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hemmingways on the hill was the perfect weekend getaway. The place was filled with thoughtful touches from local produce and eco friendly practices. The view was amazing and the bath was a highlight. Have all recommended this stay to all our friends.

    Kimberley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Hemingway’s on the Hill, is a truly amazing place for any couple to write their own love story, like suggested in Fifi’s intro. We stayed 2 nights and will be back in the near future, definitely. Our time in the beautiful cottage was so special for Rick and I. Meeting Fifi was fabulous, the beautiful touches she created in the cottage are so special, the outside bath is amazing, the blocks of wood her hubby left on the patio for our Harley were priceless. They truly have thought of everything, we highly recommend!

Usnea, our Nature, Art and Accommodation Space, is situated on the Evelyn Tablelands, Tropical North Qld. It is a fully self-contained one bedroom cottage in upland rainforest, surrounded by natural and established gardens, and at 1,160m provides a cool summer and cosy winter retreat. Uniquely the cottage integrates art within and outside. Contemplation, inspiration, privacy and comfort, are all to be experienced, along with exploring our forest and local environmental and historical features.
Usnea is a lichen that is very sensitive to air pollution and so is only found growing in clean air environments. Because it is abundant on our property we thought it an appropriate name for our nature, art and accommodation space. The Natural Space Our 61 acre property was purchased by us, Ben and Joan, in 1978 with the primary purpose of protecting important high altitude (1,160m) rainforest and its inhabitants. A diversity of plants and wildlife reside along this mountain range, the Hugh Nelson Range, which adjoins the large and complex Herberton Range National Park, a Wet Tropics World Heritage Area (WTWHA). We have a number of well established walking tracks on the property, the highlight of which is the Waterfall Track. The Residential Space We are the sole occupants of the property and so it comprises of a discrete residential area built within the confines of an historically altered section of the forest in order to minimise forest clearing. The forest surrounding the residential area is intact. As well as the main home, there are a number of separate buildings including an art studio, study/office, and outdoor living pavilion. A number of landscaped ‘garden’ spaces using both natural forest features and constructed elements are integrated throughout this residential space. The Guest Cottage Space The guest cottage is a discretely separate, independent, private accommodation dwelling incorporating outdoor and indoor constructed spaces. Outdoor Living Space A timber deck, white rhyolite gravelled court yard, timber screens and potted plants provides an attractive, private garden entrance to the cottage. The easily accessible outdoor timber deck area offers undercover access to the guest cottage as well as the laundry/storeroom, the BBQ area, and an open and comfortable space for the table and chairs. Laundry/Storeroom A covered, deck-connected entrance to this separate side room provides for ease of access. It is primarily a utilities and storeroom. Open Inside Living Space Glass sliding doors open to this inside space from the timber deck creating a continuous indoor-outdoor connection. It contains a lounge, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. A small library containing a variety of books, and a diverse selection of music CDs should provide adequate reading and music material for the length of your stay. A small pantry of essential and not-so-essential items (tea, coffee, oil, salt, pepper, and more) is there to compliment your own supply of food and drinks. Breakfast provisions are also supplied and include bread, butter, jams, honey, milk, yoghurt, cereals, nuts, fruit and eggs. Subject to seasonal and local availability, breakfast and pantry provisions are predominantly organic and biodynamic products. Bedroom & Bathroom This is a one bedroom guest cottage available for use by two people only. It accommodates a king size bed or two single beds - please let us know which arrangement you prefer. All bed linen and pillows are supplied. A walk-in storage space provides adequate room for your luggage and personal clothing. The flat screen TV is for viewing movies only, a selection of which is available for you to choose from. The bathroom has a separate entrance for access from the open inside living space and bedroom. Towels and essential toiletries are supplied. Extra linen, towels and toiletries are also supplied.
This property is located in a rural residential area and so neighbouring properties vary from large rural enterprises to those engaged in smaller multiple farming activities, and importantly large conservation estates such as the WTWHA, and smaller private ones such as ours. There are no immediate residents nor buildings other than what is within our own small residential complex.
  • If your looking for a quiet relaxing peaceful chilled out time away or you just want to escape the summer heat and humidity I highly recommend this beautiful cottage. Hosts Ben & Joan are beautiful and very welcoming. The cottage and surroundings are kept in absolutely immaculate condition. Recommend a minimum stay of 2 nights to take in all it has to offer . Definitely love to return in future.

    Belinda2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed at a few places in the Tablelands and will always come back to Usnea when I can, it is situated in a rain-forest that was small-car accessible in Evelyn. The accommodation itself is a wonderful modern wooden bungalow surrounded by rain-forest, the host is generous and provides everything you could need if you do not wish to leave, if you do wish to leave there are many nearby national park hiking tracks, Mount Hypipamee, as well as incredibly peaceful private walking track that Ben has lovingly built and maintains. If you need a town/shops you can take a short drive to Ravenshoe or Atherton, I cannot recommend this location enough, a perfect base-camp to explore the tablelands and kind knowledgeable hosts who were happy to make themselves available to complement it.

    Tim2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Usnea is an amazing space that offers the perfect setting to recharge and relax on a unique and lovingly crafted property. The living space is cozy and stylish, and Ben and Joan's hospitality makes you feel completely at home. I would recommend staying more than one night so you have the time to enjoy the beauty and tranquility the space and property have to offer - the perfect getaway. We will be back!

    Sarah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most lovely night's stays at Usnea. The house exceeded all expectations! It is stylishly decorated with great attention to detail and in stunning rain forest. Ben and Joan are great hosts, very knowledgeable about the rainforest and keen to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to return soon.

    James2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and the accommodation was immaculate and the Ben and Joan were number one! Loved it!

    Glenn2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I begin! Ben and Joan's place is a little slice of heaven. Beautiful surrounds with the rainforest and garden which connects to the ambience of the accommodation itself. Ben and Joan really went out of their way to provide us with a memorable experience, one night is not enough. Very clean, quiet and relaxing with lots of extra touches, we had more than what we expected. Thank you Ben and Joan, we shall be back.

    Loani2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place Ben & Joan have created is magical. We were so so positively surprised when we arrived and saw this beautiful and peaceful place on earth. The hosts are more then lovely people. Ben took us on a lovely rainforest walk and Joan makes sure you have everything you need. All the little treats were amazing for us to settle in. If you are in the rainforest and looking for a true experience this place is a must.

If you are ready to experience some magic, Thiaki Creek Apartment is waiting for you. Sole Use Apartment, with the main house above. Your privacy is our priority. We want you to unwind and relax while being surrounded by nature. Imagine sitting on your deck listening to the relaxing sounds of Thiaki Creek, only metres away. The only sounds you will hear are those of nature, wildlife or the odd cow. If you are lucky you might just see our resident platypus or tree kangaroo.
Upon arrival a complimentary bottle of red or white wine will be waiting to help you relax, unwind and get into the rhythm of country life. How does farm fresh eggs sound for breakfast? You are welcome to collect your own or we will do it for you. If you are a honey lover, try our very own blend. What you don't use is yours to take home as a gift from us.
Centrally located on the Atherton Tablelands you are perfectly based to explore this beautiful region. The town of Malanda and the Malanda Falls are only minutes away, as is Yungaburra, Curtain Fig Tree and Gallo’s Dairy & Café.
  • We where greeted by Paul the caretaker, who was an absolute gem. The little touches like bottle of wine and cheese, the outdoor bath and cows roaming in the front paddock made it an even more wonderful weekend away even in the rain.

    Annelise2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had such an amazing stay here! Where do I begin? We were greeted by Paul and his super sweet dog. Snugs was so friendly and gave me much needed doggy snuggles after a long day. She was super energetic, and I loved watching her jump into the swimming hole during our stay. We were sad to leave after just two nights and would have stayed longer if our itinerary allowed for it, but we had to get on our way to the next leg of our trip. The place itself was shockingly clean and well-maintained. I’ve stayed in Airbnbs where the hosts just want to maximize profits, putting little to no thought into the actual comfort of the guests, but this was no such place. Every detail from the wine and cheese plate upon arrival to the quality of towels was excellent. They are very invested in making sure you have a pleasant stay. We were able to pick fruit from the trees and vegetables from the garden. This brought us so much joy. Preparing meals fresh from the farm was an incredible treat. They also supplied fresh eggs, milk, bread, juice, coffee, and so on. They supply their own honey as well, which you can take with you if you don’t finish it during your stay. I was a little concerned that it’d be super hot without air conditioning, but we slept super comfortably and the fans were perfect. The tub was one of my favorite elements of the place itself. It was so refreshing to wake up and take a bath with that beautiful scenery. I long for that tub as I write this review. We just felt completely at peace here. Paul was so great, and we enjoyed talking to him throughout our stay. He is an extremely caring and thoughtful individual, and takes genuine interest in people. He’s sharp and a quick learner, which made for great conversations. We hope to be back again next year for more delicious finger limes, and to visit our new friends at Thiaki Creek Farm.

  • Beautiful place to stay. Yolonde communicated well and we loved all the little extras, bread, milk, fresh farm eggs, organic honey, a lovely cheese platter and a beautiful bottle of wine. Tranquil retreat with the beautiful bath on the deck overlooking the rain Forrest. Highly recommend

    Halina2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Yolonde's place is a beautiful hide away in amongst the rain forest and rolling hills. The house has all you need for a stress free weekend away, she's provided everything you need in the house, just bring food and wine. The balcony bath is a great feature and it's seclusion will tempt even they shyest of travellers.

  • Definitely worth your money and a great opportunity for a couples getaway in a relaxing environment. Just what we needed to start the New Year off! There was also heaps to do and see in the area.

    Mikayla2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house itself was wonderful, it has everything you need and more. The animals cruising around were a real bonus. The main attraction was Paul, the care taker, he was a delight to speak with and very welcoming. He showed us where everything was and made sure we were settled. The bed and sheets were the softest of my life. Would go back!

A cosy self contained cottage in the Atherton Tablelands. No neighbours for 400 meters. Enjoy the peace and quiet, abundant wildlife and various walking tracks on our 20ha property adjacent to World Heritage Forest. A great central place to explore the beautiful Tablelands. Most guests wished they could have stayed longer so consider to stay an extra night.
A very comfortable self contained cottage on our 20ha property in the Atherton Tablelands. The property is a gazetted Nature Refuge under legislation so wild life is abundant with wallabies, possums and many birds coming close to the cottage. The cottage is away from any main roads and 400 meters from our house that is located further up in the forest.
Our local village Herberton, offers Pubs, Take Aways and Cafes as well as a convenience store. The Herberton Historic Village is a main attraction and there is a Mining, Railway and Spy Camera museum. There are many day trips to National Parks, Waterfalls, Small Villages, The Coast, The Outback and Scenic Touring. We have a large variety of brochures of all local attractions in our surroundings and are happy to give suggestions.

TINAROO HAVEN is located on Atherton Tableland, with beautiful Lake Tinaroo within 15 minutes walking distance. Enjoy the modern cottage in its natural bushland setting, delight in the abundant wildlife, or go kayaking or explore the attractions of the area. Tinaroo Haven is B&B council approved. Breakfast hamper included.
The Tinaroo Haven cottage and my home, 'Asgard', to which it is connected by a 5 meter timber walkway, were both built by the well known pole house builder, Jon Nott. I fell in love with them at first sight! Unusual, well designed, built from local timber, with ample decks for outside living, they sit privately and peacefully in the middle of my bush block. This adjoins more bushland leading to an arm of Lake Tinaroo.
Tinaroo Haven is conveniently located close to the many attractions in the area. Waterfalls, World Heritage Rainforests, wild rivers , and wetlands where birds abound. The Historic village of Yungaburra with craft shops, coffee shops, reward winning restaurants, and a fantastic second hand bookshop full of surprises, is 15 minutes drive away. So is Atherton, with all the conveniences of a bigger town. Kairi and Tinaroo 5 minutes drive away. Boat ramp 3 km. away. Weekend markets are held in different locations on the Tableland. A stroll from the property will take you to the lake, where you can swim, enjoy my kayaks, fish (Barramundi world record) and walk along the foreshore to Pelican Point Reserve, where many water-birds breed in the marsh. You can hire a boat in Tinaroo township.
  • A nature retreat in the Tablelands with serene views, tranquility, surrounded by nature and hosted by a wonderful human being who has exceeded our expectations. The property is strategically located close to Lake Tinaroo and has wildlife around that make you spellbound and forget your urban life! We were impressed with the cleanliness, high speed NBN broadband and a well stocked pantry and fridge for our use. Thanks Inge, we loved your beautiful abode ‘Asgard’ and will be back soon.

    Pradeepkumar2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Inge’s place is the perfect little getaway for a weekend: a really nice patio where little wallabies come to visit and the whole place is very stylish (quite mid century). Perfect if you like to cook your own dinners as it is stocked with plenty pots and pans and utensils. Spa bath was a bit tricky to get going but once we did it was quite nice :)

    Sam2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place. The birds and pademelons will keep you entertained all day. Loved having access to the kayaks. Perfect Christmas getaway with the family. Thank you Inge!

    Jasmyn2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This beautifully equipped and comfortable, homely house is set in peaceful grounds and has free parking right outside the front door. We sat on the outside deck and watched numerous visiting animals. There’s plenty of additional seating and dining space inside the open plan sitting/ dining/ kitchen area. Inge, the owner, supplied generous provisions and made us feel very welcome.

    Kathy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner had the best time staying here. The place was very clean and Igne had kindly stocked the cupboards and fridge with a variety of food for breakfast, which was great! Lovely place in beautiful surroundings. Really enjoyed feeding the pademelons!

  • What an unexpected little treasure we found! Roger was very welcoming and showed us around the place. Great hospitality, beautiful grounds- we sat under their massive tree for about an hour to relax in the cool and to listen to the birds. Roger kindly put on the aircon before we arrived. Breakfast was organised for us and placed in the fridge to cook the following morning - bacon, eggs, fresh bread, tomato, orange juice, milk, butter & jams. I would recommend this accommodation for a couple who likes to be surrounded by beautiful country scenery. Upon reflection, we should have stayed another night.

  • We had a great stay with Roger and Joanne. The area is beautiful and they gave us some tips on what sights to see while we were there. The place had everything we needed and was very calm and peaceful!

  • Great place to stay. Easy and secluded with personal space. The breakfast provided is so thoughtful and amazing quality. Everything has been thought of 😍

  • Very cool studio on a beautifully landscaped property. This unit is completely private and separated from the main house by about 50 yards. The view from the front deck is lovely, and the hosts left a wonderful breakfast spread for us which we really appreciated. It’s a ways out in the country, but this is a very interesting area, with a lot to offer and great for exploring. We used Rogers place as a jumping off point to explore the waterfalls on our way to Cairns.

  • If I could rate this 5 plus I would. A wonderful cottage in the tablelands but close to so many wonderful sights. You won't go wrong staying here. Both Roger and Joanne are so welcoming. Loved the cottage. They have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. They are such wonderful hosts. Their pewter jewelry workshop is an added bonus. Wish we could have stayed more than the two nights. So many wonderful bird sounds. We had rain while there (which they needed) so we didn't get to view the stars. But I bet they are spectacular.

  • We visited Sydney and Port Douglas before heading to Atherton Tableland. Not so many people heard about Atherton Tablelands, but visiting this magical place is one of the highlights in our trip. Day trip is not enough, really worth staying a few nights, and we are lucky to find Roger and Joan’s place. Roger and Joan’s are very lovely couple, responsive, and welcoming. The room has all you need, from torch, card games, basic seasoning, cooking tools. Bed and linen are comfortable, we are refreshed every morning. The location is good and you can visit many places every day. For example, it is about 20 mins by drive to platypus viewing platform. We went there around 6am, and another couple told us there is a small track behind it. Where we found more platypus !! One scratching his head and belly with the wood, one seeking for food in riverside, a few more swimming here and there ! We were so excited to spot them in the wild. Then we went to the tea plantation and spotted tree kangaroos !! One sleeping with her head against the branch, one playing with his/her tail. You should check out the waterfall circuit for sunset, at one point you would reach the top of the endless mountains in 360 degree, all the clouds are very low. And cows are eating next to you (behind fences). Mooo what a good day! One more key point to note, Roger and Joan makes jewelry and decorations with tin, all self design and brings you good memories of the nature, plus they are in reasonable price, you could get a pair of ear rings with lovely koala, laughing kookaburra, etc. Or a platypus to put on the table as decoration ! Remember to visit earlier and bring cash :p

  • The Pond Cottage is a peaceful cottage with some nice homely touches. We enjoyed sitting by the pond and spotting birds and other wildlife. The hosts were friendly and interesting to talk to. We would happily stay here again.

  • We loved our time at The Pond Cottage. So peaceful and away from it all. David and Anne provided lovely extra touches. Sitting in the spa watching the platypus in the pond was magical.

  • This is a very peaceful place surrounded by greenery and wildlife. Anne and David are warm and generous hosts and the cottage itself is comfortable and cosy. We would definitely return and would recommend it to anyone.

  • Magic spot, quiet place with a chance to go offline and relax. We wanted to stay longer! Great hospitality, thoughtful touches, and very welcoming. Thanks for having us.

  • Anne and David are warm and friendly hosts who meet and greet you with a welcome drink and lots of local information. They were available if necessary but clearly respectful of guest privacy. Anne and David are considerate hosts - we were pleasantly surprised by the little treats in the cottage and they even went out of their way to source the milk we prefer! The space is cosy and comfortable and very well equipped - whatever you need seems to be there. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived and we loved the retro feel of the place. We enjoyed a Misty Mountains trail walk one afternoon and the hot spa was the perfect way to soothe our bodies on our return. If you are in need of rest and relaxation, or a complete break from the busyness of life, don’t look past this little place. Great hosts, a comfortable cottage in a peaceful place - the only sounds you’ll hear are those of nature - this is an opportunity to feel as though you’ve stepped back in time - when life was simple and nature was in charge. Thanks so much Anne and David. It was perfect. We will be back!

  • True hospitality, etiquette and attentiveness is a rare thing these days - and Lilia & Mark excel in these areas. The space itself has a beautiful rustic charm (on the elegant side), with a beautiful view. Inside, I loved the Egyptian cotton sheets & everywhere you look is full of thoughtful touches, an eclectic mix of tasteful furnishings that are put together so well. We also treated ourselves to their 3 course meal, excellent value for money, with silver service - our hosts even cared that it had the right amount of spices etc to our liking. Honestly, I can’t fault this place...and beautiful Phoebe, their giant but gentle dog, won the award for “best hospitality” with my daughter! Terimah kasih to Lilia & Mark 🙏🏽

  • Very lovely hosts, very comfortable and a lovely view out of every window.

    Tammy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is exactly as it states in the listing, attached studio apartment on a lovely hobby farm. Lilia and Mark were nice to have a chat to on our arrival but left us to our own devices. Good price point for what you get. Great location for exploring the Tablelands :)

    Clare2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet out of the way farm house that lets you soak in the country air and unwind. Such a peaceful atmosphere that was hard to leave. And even though the property is away from the centre of things, it's really not far to go sight seeing or visit one of the restaurant's in the Tablelands.

    Benjamin2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thx for your hospitality. We did feel very welcome at your marvelous location.

    Sebastian2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lilia’s place is just lovely. It is located on a beautiful farmland property - it is green, quiet, serene and beautiful. Our little 17 month old loved her sheep and the geese that roamed freely around the property and she loved checking out all of the beautiful flowers surrounding the entrance to the house. The cottage is quirky and homely inside and you can enjoy all of the little touches Lilia has styled it with. There is a lovely spot to sit outdoors undercover and just take in the stunning scenery with a drink, crackers and cheese. Lilia and Mark were very accommodating with our dog (who actually misbehaved quite a bit this trip to our disappointment). Lilia also was able to provide us with a beautiful home cooked meal on our second night (easy for us since we had been out all day with a baby) however there were enough cooking appliances and a very decent sized fridge had we wanted to cook our own meal/s in the cottage. Although remote it was still only a very short drive to Malanda where there are cafes, shops, ATM, supermarket etc which was very convenient. We highly recommend this cottage - it was a delight to stay. Thank you again for having us Lilia!

    Lauren2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location if you are after peace and quite ( which we were) not far from Malanda and beautiful country scenery. Our teenager loved it and the early morning sunrise with the mist over the valley with the mountains poking through was a fantastic way to start the day.Mark, Lilia and their huge dog Phoebe wee very helpful and friendly hosts. Just bring supplies for a simple meal as it’s not a full kitchen ( no oven that I saw) but a small cook top, microwave, electric frypan is all there to whip up something gourmet if needed. The ground coffee supplied was great in the plunger. Wished we had a extra day to stay to soak more of it in!

    Heather2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay at Lilia's, great little cabin with everything we needed and more. Beautiful surroundings and adorable pets! We were very sad to leave the house and its hosts! Would definitely come back.

We are a young family and we love leasing our home as a holiday home however we have had some tricky guests and so we ask for you to consider our dos and donts as crazy as the seem before booking. It’s not to turn you off booking we are reasonable people our past booking say so but it’s just to make sure we are on the same page. We assume all of our guests will be respectful and honest. Again we are really reasonable people so please help us preserve our house for yours and others' future stays by accepting these guidelines before you book: - Please be honest about the number of people staying at the property. We feel the house comfertably sleeps 6 at most. Our nightly rate has been kept low and affordable. It is based on four person's staying here if there is more please pay the additional person charge. We are a young family trying to get ahead. - We ask for your honesty in booking for humans as we ask the same for your pets. If brining them please let me know on booking by message and pay the pet fee. It’s cheaper than a boarding kennel should you have left them at home but nobody wants that because they are family to and they deserve a little rest to. We also need to know how many fur babies you have coming also. Pets out numbering the humans is not okay. -There is NO smoking allowed inside the property. If smoking outdoors, please keep doors and windows closed so the smell does not enter the house. -Absolutely NO major parties. We're ok with small celebrations with the allotted amount of guests allowed/booked for (no more than 6). -Decorations: Absolutely NO GLITTER or stickers. Any decorations you put up must all be taken down including any tape residue. Any tape residue or damage found on walls due to your decorations may result in being charged. -Please leave the house in the condition you entered it in. THE CLEANING FEE DOES NOT COVER EXCESSIVE MESS. The $50 fee is to cover the expense hiring our awesome cleaner, Joy, to clean all linens, kitchen, bathrooms, living areas, dusting, and up-keeping the house. It does not include her cleaning up after any disrespectful messes left behind. Please follow easy check-out instructions we'll have provided you. If you follow those, you’ll be in good shape. -Please communicate with us about anything that has been broken during your stay. Any excessive mess or damaged items MAY result in withholding of deposit. We are reasonable people and will understand if accidents happen, but please do not try to "hide" it from us as we want to make sure everything is taken care of or fixed before our next guests come to enjoy our property. -RESPECTING OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD. Remember, you're not renting a hotel room, you're renting a house in a neighbourhood where people live. We ask that you respect our neighbourhood and neighbours by keeping your exterior noise level down at ALL times during the day. ANY complaints received from our neighbours (whether noise or just being a disturbance in any way) will result in the withholding of deposit. -Internet Use: NO illegal downloading of any sort, no p2p file sharing. We try to communicate it as clear as possible in our listing in our description and broken down in the "House Rules" before guests book and agree to those terms. We try to be as upfront about it on our listing as much possible avoid surprises. EARLY CHECK-INS OR LATE CHECK-OUTS: Early check-in or late check-outs must be PRE-ARRANGED. Please do not ask on day before or the day of arrival as we will NOT honour it. We have our cleaners scheduled at specific times and are unable to make last minute changes. Any non pre-arranged late check-outs will result in withholding of deposit. The only way we can guarantee an early check-in is if the night prior to your stay is available, we can block it off for you at half the price. Same goes for late check-out, if there is no one booked the night of your check out date, we can block off the night for you for a guaranteed late check-out at half the price. LUGGAGE DROP OFF: While we would love to be able to accommodate luggage drop off requests, there simply isn’t a ‘holding area” in our home that wouldn’t interfere with our cleaners ability to move freely during their clean. There are several luggage handling services that would be able to store your luggage for you, and even deliver it to the house at check-in. Security Deposit - if you damage the home, you may be charged up to $500 Guest access Guests have access to the entire house and a two bay shed. Interaction with guests We live close by and so should you need anything during your stay, we are available via message through your booking platform or by text (in case of an urgent matter). You will have a detailed guest book available at the property with tips on how to work the TV, rubbish, check-out instructions, and will also serve as a local guide for my favourite restaurant and bar recommendations. Other things to note A lot of time, care, and money has been put into this home that we LOVE. I only want to have the best guests who will respect my property AND my neighbours. Not looking for rowdy crowds to stay here!
Rest is located in the village circle and is short walking distance to all town amenities shops, pubs, and restaurants. Our home is in driving {or walk if your super keen it's approx 3kms} distance to Tinaburra and the Avenue of honour. Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine are just a further 10 minutes drive from town. There are a number of lovely walks that can be accessed with the chance of seeing platypus, wallabies and perhaps the rare tree kangaroo. Dogs are welcome in most (exception to national parks) providing they are on a lead.
  • We loved our time at Rest House. Our only regret was having such a short time there. However we had a great time with our friends at the Yungaburra pub and Whistle Stop Cafe. After all the partying we needed a rest and your place would have been perfect. Unfortunately we had to head off. For those who love birding or other wildlife viewing the Rest House is a great base to venture from. I managed to get some birding in and enjoyed spotting the platypus and green ring tailed possums. The house was easy and very well presented. It is a very well equipped home that would suit couples or families. The adjoining yet separated area for kids would be an advantage for families. It is well located with all amenities a short stroll away. The outdoor areas for entertaining or relaxing are just lovely. Next time I want to spend more time relaxing in these areas. Thanks for the complimentary bottle of wine.

  • We enjoyed a Family Christmas in The Rest House. Deb had lovely little touches for us on our arrival. (Complete with treats for the dogs!) The house was terrific with great space, aircon, and all the comforts of home away from home. Yungaburra is a relaxing and quaint Hinterland destination. And considerably cooler in the tropical summer! Happily recommend this Getaway!

  • Beautiful people, exponentially thoughtful and caring. Bruce & Sandy give far more than expected, and value for money, we were welcomed with freshly baked Scones with fresh cream and homemade Jam, yummy, my wife’s favourite. The fridge was stocked with fresh local fruits, chilled water with fresh lime, local milk and even more surprising was fresh eggs, ham, bread, butter and organic oats for brekky... Inside and out is immaculately clean and tidy, and a very comfortable bed as well. We decided to stay in for dinner and enjoyed a beautiful home cooked meal with 5 star table service😊 The best air bnb experience we have ever had and we have had very many. Real value for money is the Riverside Retreat. Oh and be sure to check out Sandy’s handmade Soaps which she makes at home, they are amazing. We will definitely stay again and recommend Riverside to anyone who wants a clean and peaceful location to stay in Malanda, with good old fashioned service and smiles🙏🏼 Thanks again, looking forward to our next visit.

Luxury accommodation in magnificent tall eucalypt forest. Our large timber pole home comes with abundant wildlife, peace and quiet and plenty to explore on 14ha abutting National Park. A great base to explore a fascinating area.
The home has three levels and is comfortable and fully kitted out with everything you need for a self catering stay. We will provide linen and towels and some basics to get you started but you will need to bring all your food and other consumables. There is the Wondecla Roadhouse 9.4km down the road for basics and a supermarket etc in Herberton about 12.5km away. Be aware that our space is at 1000m altitude so is cool for the tropics - about 5 degrees cooler than Cairns.
This is a lifestyle block area which has been left forested and most blocks along the road are large. Therefore you will not actually see any neighbours unless they happen to be out and about if you walk down the road. This is definitely a place for people who want to "get away from it all".
  • Andrews home is spectacular.... the location, styling, environment, it is very comfortable with so many unique qualities. Loved the fireplace, and open bathrooms. Highly recommended.

    Wendy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Magical forest hideaway. Andrew's place is magical from the minute you enter through the gate down the long driveway to the house. We were blown away by the house and its location in the bush. Andrew was a lovely, friendly host to deal with and gave good information before we arrived. The house is beautifully presented with lots of attention to detail including a lovely fruit bowl for our arrival. There is everything you could possibly want in the kitchen including a coffee pod machine which was very much appreciated. Beds are comfy, pillows are comfy, towels are thick and plush, the spa bath has an outlook to die for. There was so much to do around the location we ran out of time. Which of course means we will have to return. Thanks Andrew (and Eliza) we had a most wonderful Xmas at Aviceda.

    Sue2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

  • good value, magnificent setting with out door entertainment settings . like staying in a rainforest. Mins walk from Petersons creek and do the long walk up the Creek to railway bridge and see the Platypus

Cascades Wilderness Lodge is a resort style home consisting of three pavilions on 90 acres of forest at altitude in the tropics. The two main pavilions are cantilevered over a basalt escarpment 12 metres above a river which flows into a cascade and 70m swimming hole.
The pavilions are joined by extensive decks. A range of rare timbers feature through the construction and joinery. Apart from the spacious living areas and well equipped galley kitchen, are 2 large bedroom and bathrooms co-joined by a library alcove and children's sleeping loft. All rooms have views of the river and forest
Cascades is surrounded by forest. Your only neighbours are wildlife such as platypus and rock wallabies. There is a short path and stairs leading down to the cascade and swimming hole. Please read the description of how to swim safely in the folder provided and supervise young children. The water is pristine and there is nothing which harms you. Platypus are extremely shy creatures.
  • Absolutely 10/10. The creek is deep and clear of obstacles

  • This is the most picturesque air bnb I’ve ever stayed at. The beautiful pole home overlooks a running stream and private swimming hole. It was sparkling clean, and we couldn’t have asked for anything else. Excellent communication and directions. Honestly, perfection!

  • As expected, spectacular location, easy logistics, no fuss, perfect couple of days.

    Timothy2019-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • It is located at excellent location not far from the small town with everything you need. ( the small supermarket within a short drive is actually good enough for a simple meal). The ambience there was fantastic with a small waterfall next to it. Lucky us, we spotted a platypus down in the river next to the waterfall. We also met 2 wallabies at the entrance while driving into the private premise. My 2 teens love it there and enjoyed the tennis though you need to drive up there. ( otherwise I guess it will be a 10 mins uphill walk ) Only one disappointment is we couldn't use the bbq stove since the flame was too low and the rack is not cleaned. The host is super nice and is very fast responsive.

Old Mates Pioneers Hut is on the Atherton Tablelands on a working farm. The farm runs cattle, goats, pigs, sheep, buffalo, chicken, ducks, horses and dogs. The farm is also a camping facility with trails for riding & walking. Outdoor fire (subject to conditions). Bike riding, horse riding, nature walks. Permanent running creek with refreshing swimming holes. Off grid 12 volt power system with battery storage. This runs lights, fridge, water pump, fans and USB ports for electronic devices.
This hut takes inspiration from the traditional "Shepherds Hut" of yesteryear. These were used by farmers to keep close to their herds and flocks and ensure their well being and keep predators at bay. The hut can sleep 4 people comfortably and another on the day bed if required. Very clean, and private shared toilet and spacious hot shower facilities ($2 coin per 6 minutes) within 20 meters. People love the "Loo with a View" looking out over the rain forest. There is a fridge, 2 burner gas cook top, sink with hot & cold water. Out side there is a gas BBQ, table, 4 chairs and esky/chill box. There is an outdoor fire place. Firewood $30 per 50kg. Mobile phone access is available on the property, but is weak in the Pioneers Hut.
  • Tony went out of his way to make our stay with our horses and smooth as possible. Great spot to ride your horses.

    Ursula2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Farm animals were a highlight but Old Mates Farm offers so much more for a experiential stay. Love the environment of the hillside forested property. Tony is a great builder, adds style to the barn, huts and amenities, cares for his property. Toilets were their own experience being ‘room with a view’. Kids enjoyed Pioneer Hut loft bunks, weighted pully door closer, barn games, bush walks, fire pit unaffected by rain. I appreciated the comfort and cleanliness of the hut and amenities.

    Simone2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were so blessed to spend our Christmas tucked away in the trees at Old Mate's Farm. The Pioneer shack is small but by the same token, it was more than enough for our family of 4 (2A+2C). The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove (no oven, but there's a camp oven for the fire provided and a gas BBQ). It has one of the best camp shower + toilet I've ever used, complete with a flush toilet and hot water (at a cost of $2, but free if you can take the cold!!!) Due to the season, the creeks were a bit low for a swim and the cicadas on occasion were quite intense, but overall, these were minor issues for us. We only touched on the many tracks and hikes throughout the property as we were busy visiting the many delicious locations throughout the Tablelands but we will definitely return and explore more at a later date. There is a well-kept hobby farm at the entrance filled with well-loved horses, cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, guinea fowls, ducks and buffalo that we were able to take part in feeding. My 7+3yr olds loved it. It is clear to us that there has been a lot of passion and hard work put in to create this bushland retreat and we cannot wait to see what Tony will be putting in next. Thank you Pete and Deb for your hospitality too.

    Evie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Hello Tony, we loved staying on your property and we are positive we saw a tree kangaroo up behind the toilet block (cool). Although we feed the animals on our first night my 16-year-old boy insisted we were back in time to do it again on our second night. My 17-year-old loved building the fire outside the hut.

    Michelle2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly worth a visit! The kids had an absolute ball feeding the animals and running around the farm. 100% will be bring the family back.

    Stevie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you need to get away from modern life this is perfect. Tony has done an amazing job setting this up. I’d much rather stay here than the cheapest hotel. Value for money, a great experience.

Canoe on the creek, walk around the property, or use the cabin as your base to explore beautiful Yungaburra and the Tablelands. Suzanne and Tim are so kind and hospitable and give you the perfect balance of natural friendliness and travel tips as well as privacy. Amazing value for money, you couldn't put a price on the lovely stay we had.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Maroobi Park. A beautifully peaceful and private place to relax and enjoy nature. Convenient to all the Yungaburra attractions. Suzanne and Tim are great hosts.

    Julie2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne's place is a beautiful spot but the best part about it is the friendly, welcoming and thoughtful hosts. Suzanne and Tim even welcomed me with afternoon tea. Suzanne was unobtrusive but there to help in any way she could. The extensive grounds are beautiful and the sight of platypus and turtles and the birdlife was a special treat. The cabin was very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the kitchen included basic supplies plus home made mueslli and fresh fruit. I hope I get a chance to stay at Suzannes place again.

Just outside the model village of Yungaburra and fifty meters from Tinaroo Lake, a private chalet with one bedroom,/kitchen and a shower room. A large veranda viewing the lake. (whose level changes with the seasons) The chalet is private, separated from the main house by bush. Great for viewing water and bush birds. Great for canoeing or sailing to see . Swimming possible but a bit muddy. Good cycling area. Parking a few meters away. Very quiet. Mains water, electricity and drainage.
Beautiful countryside and many places to visit. The village has two bookshops, a great pub and several restaurants . Lakes Barrine and Eacham are only a few kilometers away

  • A beautiful place, privacy and fantastic hosting by Carina make this an unmissable spot to stay and take in the tablelands.

    Tom2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was truly a rainforest paradise. We only had one night at the Riversong Retreat, but it was magical. Waking up to the sounds of nature with fresh homemade bread and fruits that Carina had left us was amazing. She even took us on a little tour of their river hike on the property. It was such a unique stay and hidden gem in the tablelands. I could not recommend more highly!

    Irjaliina2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Carina and Ron run a beautiful place, tucked away in the rainforest. We had a restful, relaxing and rejuvenating time at Riversong. We loved the home-made bread and appreciated their thoughtfulness in catering for us being vegan. Great place to stay in the Tablelands.

  • Amazing !! This would have to be one of the very best Air BnB experiences we've ever had. The location is breathtakingly beautiful and the generosity of our hosts was incredible, abundant fresh fruit, home made bread and produce offered for breakfast every day which was a tremendous and unexpected treat. The space was spotlessly clean, plenty of fresh towels and a cosy little pot belly fireplace to keep us warm, there was perfectly prepared wood for the fireplace that was replenished every day. The bed in the main room was sooooooo comfortable which made for a fabulous sleep, the kitchen was very well appointed and we wanted for nothing. Our hosts were lovely, whilst they were there, they were never intrusive and offered no shortage of great local tips and a guided walk down to the river which runs through their property. Our stay at Riversong would be in our top 3 all time Air BnB experiences, it is most highly recommended and anyone and everyone !!

    Frank2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Set in the rain forest near milla milla. Quiet and clean. Carina and Rob were really friendly with drinks on the deck to welcome us and lots of local travel tips. Enjoyed biking around the area.

  • What amazing hosts. The grounds around the house are beautiful and the hosts provide everything you might need to explore about -including gum boots and walking sticks. When Carina say that our very old little dog was shivering in the cold, she even sourced her a warm coat. The bread for breakfast was a great surprise and was delicious. Would have liked to be able to stay longer.

  • Staying with Laura and Bill was an absolute delight. The entire family had an amazing time and it turned out to be a highlight of our time in FNQ. We were completely blown away by their warmth and hospitality. As much privacy or socialisation as you like. Our kids loved the opportunities Bill and Laura offered them like spotting platypus and riding the tractor. Great local tips on where to go also! A fabulous Airbnb - thank youBill and Laura! May we meet again.

  • From the moment we arrived we felt like we were at home with extended family. Laura and Bill were wonderful hosts with some amazing little touches like home cooked goods, fresh fruit and veg from the garden and home made pizza. The accommodation was lovely and the surroundings were very calming and comfortable which made it a stay to remember for all the right reasons.

  • If want to experience some true hospitality then this is it. Tim & Laura are beautiful hosts, they can’t help you enough. The place is simple but very clean and we enjoyed the sounds of nature...,the birds, frogs and even got to see the platypus in the creek behind! Thanks for a great stay!

  • Laura and Bills place is one in a million. Both are the most amazing people with the best hospitality there is. Sparkling clean room, homemade cookies and cake, fresh fruit, homegrown veggies, homemade jam, fresh laid Eggs, cheese platers, beautiful landscapes and lots of friendly pets to cuddle. Idriess Cottage is suitable for a couple.
  • A beautiful rainforest retreat near Herberton. Modern cottage with washing machine, air conditioning and bbq/ verandah. Secluded private space at the back of hosts property with large windows that make you feel like you are among the trees. Very kind and helpful hosts.

  • A wonderful place for couples to stay. Everything was immaculate and surprisingly modern. One tip re dining out. Most places in town are closed by 6pm, including the supermarket (at least when we were there - October 2019). The Royal Hotel, however, is open every evening for meals except Sunday and Monday. We were told we could get a meal at The Australian (next door, same management) on the Sunday evening but all that was offered was frozen take-away. This may change as the new management has big plans. Be sure to check out the Lollie shop run by Karen, and the delightful retro cafe, Jacaranda. A step back in time.

    Maria2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Idriess Cottage is the most fabulous place to stay for a single or couple, we just wish we had stayed longer. It is very well appointed, private and the breakfast provisions were a very welcome addition. Nothing else is needed here and it is close to all Atherton Tablelands attractions or you can just spend your time lazing on the verandah or light a cosy fire. We would recommend it to everyone .. a must for your Atheron stay.

  • This place is the perfect AirBnB. I usually have a few small suggestions for hosts to make their places a bit better but this time I honestly couldn’t think of anything to improve. The space is in perfect condition with brand new appliances... actually everything seemed new. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped, there was food for breakfast and all the basic necessities. It’s in a great location for exploring the beautiful Atherton Tablelands. Highly recommended!

  • We loved our stay at Judy’s place. It’s a lovely little unit, quiet and private. Judy’s garden is beautiful and we loved waking to bird sounds in the morning. It’s close to many sights around the Tablelands area. Judy was quick with her responses and warm and friendly. We can definitely recommend her place to any future guests.

Our place is a bespoke American barn built on an acre of rural land 7km from Tolga and the Kennedy Highway. The shed was architecturally designed and completed in 2017 so all amenities are new providing guests with comfortable authentic travel experience. Lifestyle is relaxed with minimal external noise. Our location makes an ideal base for visiting the Tableland attractions.
We cultivate vegetable garden and orchard to promote self sufficiency and run poultry for eggs. A key attraction of the property is the glorious sunsets each evening over the distant hills. Great time for 'sundowners'.
The street comprises acre blocks. Neighbours are not directly on the fence line.
  • If you get the chance to stay with Geoff and Beverley in their beautiful home, then grab it with both hands. These two lovely people have created a really wonderful space where you will feel totally at home. They greeted us with friendship and sundowners and nibbles on arrival. The room is lovely, spacious and has everything and more that you could possibly want. They thoughtfully also provided us with some eggs, bread, cheese - tea and coffee in the room, a microwave and kettle. There is a TV and some DVD’s. The bed is so comfortable, with crisp cotton sheets. We stayed 2 nights but wishes we could stay for a week. Not to be missed!

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at John & Pam's place, and didn't want to leave. We could not recommend it highly enough - the cabin is perfectly located near Malanda, and has its own private deck with views overlooking the rainforest, with sounds from the creek below. The space is inviting, warm, and made for relaxing. The fridge was thoughtful stocked with everything you would need for breakfast, as well as some treats as well. Thanks again for your outstanding hospitality John & Pam, we hope to visit again soon!

  • Absolutely beautiful cabin, very comfortable and luxuriously appointed , with a completely equipped kitchen , large bath with soaker tub and shower, comfortable bed , great wifi, TV with Netflix. There is a large veranda with a small Webber BBQ, where we had all our meals while listening to the birds and , lucky us , while observing a tree Lumholtz kangaroo mum with her Joey leisurely eating in a tree not far for our veranda. John and Pam are wonderful hosts , they provided a large number of goodies for us , including farm eggs, yoghurt , milk and cream , coffee ,fresh fruit and granola. John also shared some of his wonderful baking ( carrot cake and orange cake ) and kindly invited us for a great espresso/ cappuccino . The cabin is spotlessly clean and surrounded by the most wonderful gardens and forest. We sincerely didn’t want to leave! It is truly magical, thank you John and Pam for hosting us and for being some the best hosts we have ever encountered!

  • My wife and I had a great weekend away. John was prompt in his replies to our questions and he and his wife were great hosts. It was so relaxing sitting on the deck listening to the wildlife and the river. The spa was amazing and looked out onto all the trees and felt very private. It was only a short walk to the swimming holes which was great too. The best thing was all the little touches; local produce, access to their garden etc. We would definitely come back and would recommend staying here to all.

    Andrew2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Malanda. The stylish B&B was exactly as described in a beautiful river setting. Our hosts provided us with everything a 5 star hotel suite would have & more. There was a huge soaking tub, fresh fruit, a comfortable bed, fresh flowers & tons more awesome extras. Charlie, the beautiful black border collie reminded us of home & was so friendly. We definitely recommend this B&B!

  • On the Wallaby is the best little secret on the Tablelands--truly a haven for travelers on the hop from all around the planet to meet and enjoy a restful or adventurous stay, your choice! The rooms and shared facilities are private, spotlessly clean, totally comfortable, and feels instantly like home, just asking to be enjoyed and lived in. Everything has been thought out and provided, and the sustainable philosophy is evident throughout the property. Our stay gave us a warm, fuzzy feeling that human beings can learn to do the right and good thing for themselves, each other, and the planet, all the while sharing the joy of being alive and able to explore and marvel at our beautiful world and the possibilities. The Atherton Tablelands is a magical place in QLD, well worth discovering, and On the Wallaby would be the perfect place from which to take hops from! All the best to travelers everywhere, and remember that the longest and most important journey is from our heads to our hearts.

  • Collette’s place is a funky little cottage. The interior design was fun and tasteful and the rooms were comfortable. The house is central but quiet with everything you need. We cooked, baked and travelled the area and this was an excellent base.

  • Fantastic house, quirky retro styling, we just loved all this beautiful home had to offer. Comfortable and practical with every thing you could possibly need. 2 minute walk to the town centre. Collette provides tourism brochures for every possible activity on the tablelands. It was great to lounge around in the sun room with a coffee and decide what we were going to do for the day. The Atherton IGA is amazing and the friendly locals made for a wonderful hoilday.

  • Lovely comfortable house. We all enjoyed our stay. It was on a main road within walking distance to shops. Traffic noise was not a issue possibly due to the large fence securing the house.

  • Collettes place was so convenient to town and all needs. The house was very spacious and suits a family well. The kitchen is extremely well equipted with all you need to cook and basic provisions are plentiful.

  • Collette was a quick, thoughtful and generous host, providing a charming and very well equipped home with almost everything anyone would need for a long and comfortable stay. Great atmosphere. Spacious home, bedrooms and a huge back yard. Ideal for family groups but not too big for a single person. The kitchen had an amazing amount of extras, with excellent cooking facilities. The property was very easy walking to shops and some good eateries. Easy parking off the street. There was traffic noise at busy times, but it was quiet overnight for sleeping. The location is very central for sightseeing around the Atherton Tableland; and a scenic drive to Cairns and the coast. Highly recommended.

Our beautiful cottage is nestled in an enchanted garden next to an untouched rainforest pocket. This building has been a little school decades ago. Now fitted with polished timber floors, a fire place, kitchenette, it is the perfect place to let you slow down.
bird watchers nature lovers couples or 2 travelling friends We are not suited to children under 11 years and do not offer wheelchair access.
Our place is nestled between pockets of rain-forest and dairy farms. Just behind our place you can go for a nice stroll next to the forest.
  • Mark and Katharina’s cottage was very comfortable, and relaxing, a reminder of yesteryear. It is set in a serene and peaceful oasis. The views are stunning and the pool was saltwater which I loved and Mark and Katharina were great hosts and quick to respond to the queries I had. I would love to stay again.

  • Had a great getaway in this cottage. Quiet location, friendly hosts, plenty of wildlife to spot and best of all; a excellent place to relax with great views of neighbouring hill sides.

  • Great location if you're looking for a quiet spot to relax and not too far to drive for everything The Tablelands has to offer. Plenty of wildlife around so don't be alarmed if you hear a lot of bumps in the night (the possum at the front door was a nice surprise) and the cabin itself is nice and cosy. Not a lot of space for cooking if you're planning on eating in, so either plan to eat out or stick to simple toast or bacon and eggs. Mark was a fantastic host, delivering firewood for the fireplace (which you'll need if you're there in winter!) and great communication. Would definitely stay again.
