This 120 square foot camping cabin made of eastern red cedar includes two twin beds with mattresses, a table, and a nightstand. Just bring your sleeping bag and a pillow. The cabin does not have electrical or plumbing but guests have access to the nearby bathhouse and common ground, which includes outdoor barbecue grills and horseshoe pit. The view of the valley and surrounding mountains is spectacular and the night sky is often equally amazing.
The Black Canyon RV Campground is located on the rim of the stunning Cimarron Valley and offers amazing views of the nearby mountains and easy access to numerous fishing, hunting and recreation areas. We are within an easy drive of the Blue Mesa Reservoir Recreation Area, Silver Jack Reservoir, the Black Canyon National Park, Montrose, Ouray, Telluride, Gunnison, Crested Butte, and Lake City (to name a few). The night skies are amazing, too!

  • This is a wonderful gem of a campground to stay at in Cimarron. The amount of care that goes into the care of the cabins, sites and landscaping is remarkable. The facilities are clean and the large fire pit is a great gathering place.

  • This stay was awesome! Amazing views, convenience to Montrose, Gunnison, Black Canyon and so many beautiful recreation areas! I loved it so much they let me stay in another cabin because the cabin I booked for just one night was already booked when I decided to stay for two more days! The hosts are so friendly and inviting. I will definitely be back here!

Welcome to the cabin in a picturesque Rocky Mountain Valley. Recently built, this is my home that I would like to share with you. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place. Surrounded by nature and federal land, you are able to hike up into the mountains, view overlooking cliffs, or take a short drive to an amazing river.
The house main floor is 900 square feet, with a 300 square feet loft, 700 square foot wrap around deck and unfinished walk-out basement. The space listed here is the main floor and loft. The house was built in the summer of 2019,and decorated with comfortable furnishings. Oversized leather club chairs, homemade quilts and afghans, too many pillows on the queen and king beds, white fluffy towels all provide comfort and relaxation. Open living areas allow for family communication when cooking or just relaxing. The deck provides multiple seating arrangements, including tables and pillows. The deck faces the south and west, with the west side being covered by the roof so that you can enjoy summer showers out of the rain. There is a dining table just off the kitchen to enjoy your meal or a glass of wine. (Since this is a recent build there are a few trim pieces that still need to be completed.)
The closest neighbor is about a mile away, unless you count deer and elk. There is an amazing river across the street, and public access just two miles away. If you would like to head into town, go south to Lake City, Colorado. You will find a small mining mountain town with history that is as deep as the Black Canyon. They have my favorite ice cream shop in the summer, a grocery store, a brewery, thriving art scene and lots of little restaurants. Please note that most places close about 9 or 10pm. If you go north, you will find Gunnison in 32 miles. Here you will find a City Market grocer, many restaurants and breweries. You can also go here to book any river guides or rent a paddle board for the day.

Pitch your tent in the Rocky Mountain High Country. Wake up to the cool mornings, and sip your coffee while breathing in the sweet pine and mountain sage. The location is in a valley with white capped mountain views to the north and south. Hiking trails are right out your door. Fishing, minutes away.
BC4C (Basecamp 4 Christ) is a privately own home on 40 acres bordered on 4 sides by Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Powderhorn Wilderness is literally in the back yard. You will find hiking and biking trails plentiful. The Lake Fork of the Gunnison River is just across the street, with access to fishing just a mile away. If you are looking for Jeep or ATV trails, they are less than a mile down the road. Tent sites include a firepit, water container, camp potty, and flat spot for tent. There is an outdoor enclosed shower and a soaking tub (not enclosed, you might want to bring a swimsuit). Water and electricity are available on the property, but not the tent sites. The road to the tent sites is BLM. It is not gravel, it is dirt. My car can get to the site fine, but I can help haul gear if you don’t want to drive down it. Land line is available for emergency use. Wifi is available near the house, but somewhat spotty.
Neighbors are miles away. Unless you count the chipmunks. There may be other campers.
  • This camp site is awesome! It has all the amenities and privacy you could ask for. Amazing hikes and sites both on the property and a short drive away. The stars at night are not to be missed and the Milky Way is bright and out each night. Just stay here, you’ll be glad you did!

  • Great stay. Would recommend.

  • Jackie is hospitable and has a beautiful place surrounded by God's country: remote, easy to find, easy access, and peaceful. I will definitely be back!

    LaTonia2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hospitality and a great spot to pitch our tent by the pine tree and enjoy a fire. Felt like we had the whole valley to ourselves! Also great tips from Jackie for the rest of our trip. Thx!

    Jeff2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • A great, private tent site! Plenty of wood for fires too :)

    Jack2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! This camp was so gorgeous! We felt like we had the entire mountain to ourselves! The views and fresh air was spectacular! Camp was well maintained, clean, and natural which is what we love. Watching the fog roll out at sunrise was magical. The land is perfect for hiking around and seeing local wildlife. So many beautiful mountain flowers, and the scent of the sage brush was heavenly. Jackie is the perfect hostess; attentive, available, and responsive. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and well oriented with the lay of the land. We were greeted with freshly brewed kombucha, a warm smile, and a sweet yellow lab that gave us lots of kisses. A highlight for me was the warm bath outside under clear skies and view of the mountains. The air was chilly and the contrast of hot water was so soothing and balancing. Where else are you going to get to bathe out in the open without fear of discovery? A major perk was that the camp is far enough away from the lake that there were no mosquitoes! This is a HUGE plus for me bc I hate biting insects. My husband enjoyed hiking to the top of the mountain while I relaxed in the hot tub. Seriously, if you don't mind a little drive out to a private camp, it's a little out of the way but totally worth the experience!

  • We had a great stay at Bob’s cabin. Bob was there to meet us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the cabin, showed how to work the TV, and even shared some hunting reports with us. It was the perfect stop before heading into the backcountry.

  • A really nice Airbnb for getting out in to nature a bit. Both the Blue Mesa Reservoir and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park are quite accessible. Has all the necessary amenities. I think it might be a bit small for three guests, but for my friend and I, the cabin was perfect.

  • Larry's place was great! I didn't put much thought into booking it because I know we would only be sleeping there for a couple of hours. But when we pulled in I was very impressed with the beautiful view of a farm and cows that the cabin overlooked. Larry checked us in and he was very nice! A great place for a short stay!

Our small studio-style Aspen cabin is ideal for one or two people. It has a small kitchen fully furnished with stove, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans, etc. The main room has a queen bed, dresser, and small dining table and 2 chairs. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and vanity with sink. Outside is a small porch sitting area with a table and chairs. This cabin has WIFI but no TV.

  • We couldn’t of had a better place to stay to hike the black canyons. The place was clean and had everything we could of asked for. They accommodated our late arrival as our travels from out of state took us longer then expected. The coffee was good and the hospitality was exceptional. It was perfect for a glamping trip in the mountains of Colorado.

We are in an isolated mountain valley on a gravel road. Private bedroom with southern facing windows with a view of the woods. Private deck off of the bedroom to enjoy mother nature. The house is on a 2100 acre working cattle ranch. We are avid hunters and fishermen, and the common parts of our home show that. Travel times can be longer than expected. Check the “Neighborhood” section below for travel times to popular destinations. Early or late check in available by request.
Guests have exclusive use of the bedroom and the private deck attached. Guests also have exclusive use of the bathroom next to the bedroom. The bathroom is not listed as private because you must walk out of your room to get to the bathroom, but the bathroom is yours. Guests are welcome to socialize with us in the common areas. Feel free to enjoy the view from our front deck as well as your private deck in back. If The Man Cave room in the basement is not booked, you may use the game room and tv down there.
We are about 20 minutes from Black Canyon National Park North Rim entrance. Crawford Reservoir is 5 minutes away. There is national forest and BLM lands all around us. Blue Mesa Reservoir and the Curicanti National Recreation Area are about an hour away. We are an hour and 15 minutes to Montrose, an hour and a half to the South Rim entrance to Black Canyon National Park, 2 hours to Crested Butte, and an hour and 40 minutes to Powderhorn Ski Area.
  • Hospitality was exceptional and Brad, Michelle and their family were very welcoming.

  • Thanks again for sharing your amazing place with us! We greatly appreciated your warm hospitality and are happy to have had the chance to get to know your family :) We highly recommend your listing to future travelers, though a bit remote it’s really worth a detour!

  • I believe whole heartedly that future travellers will be thrilled to stay with the Hart family in their beautiful ranch home. I am certain that they will receive a warm welcome and a peaceful and pleasant stay like no other.

    Loralee2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great people in a very nice area! Michelle and her family certainly added to a great experience! Beautiful ranch, great discussions, and some fun pooches make this place better than any hotel. Highly recommend!

    Nate2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay. The Hart’s where very friendly and hospitable.

    Brad2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • You will absolutely be welcomed into their home more as friends than rental guests. The active ranch is a beautiful tract. We were greeted by Michelle, Reannon and their two friendly dogs. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and we felt at home immediately. We would stay there again if for nothing else but to visit with this wonderful, down-to earth family.

    John2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s place was really nice. The bed was comfy & it was nice to go out and sit on the private deck in the morning. Really sweet family.

    Emily2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you are from out of state and want an authentic experience, stay here. Michelle and Brad love to get to know their lodgers, and they have great local information and stories. The room was really nice, with a microwave and mini fridge with some chilled water and tea/coffee ready if I wanted. The place is a real working ranch, nt something for tourists as a pretend ranch. An actual ranch. Check in/out no problem. Super nice people, and a great bed to crash in. If your timing is right, you'll be eating farm fresh eggs as well. :)

Pack your bags! Come camping with a few of the amenities from home (Electric, a bed frame, and real 100% cotton linen, chair and ottoman). The tent is Kodiak Canvas with HUGE screen windows and awnings on the East and West side. Tent is on a plywood platform to give you a more comfortable floor. Lay in bed in the morning, charging your cell phone while occasionally glancing at beautiful mountain vistas as your YouTube video loads. Just kidding, you don’t want to use the satellite internet.
Community fire pit and outdoor bathroom facilities.
We are 40 acres surrounded by public lands. The closest neighbor is 2 miles. Camping sites are at least a football field away.
  • Good location, 45 minutes from Gunnison. Bring food if after 10pm as no late night spots in Lake City ( 30 min away) are open. Jackie was a great host. This is a great spot if you are ok with a tent as it has all the other “nice to haves” of a private campsite including shower, bathroom, and even laundry if you need!

If you care about the natural world, you can not go wrong here. Exemplary hospitality and Brad knows the lake better than many men know their wife.

  • This cabin might be situated right next to the road , but trust me , you won’t even notice that the second you look out of your window and feel like you’ve been taken to a fairytale. We stayed in Cabin 7 and it was the lucky 7 indeed ! That day my husband and I we received the news of becoming homeowners, and we seriously couldn’t be happier to celebrate anywhere else than here . The cabin has an typical mountain cabin vibes , and has everything you need if you are looking for a longer stay . It has a spacious bathroom with hot water - yay ! Small kitchen and everything you need to cook , microwave, and coffee maker . Host provides the towels , but do not forget to bring your shower gel , shampoo and all that . I brought mine and hubby forgot to pack it 😂 oh well ... anyways , if you are looking for affordable, beautifully located place that is pet friendly , look no further ! Oh , did I mention that the store on the property is awesome , and you can have yummy , warm meal there ? Yeah , now you know it :) so , what are you waiting for ? Book it already !

  • Staff are amazing. Best customer service. They really went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. The cafe they run is great and was open all day. Store had many cool items. The cabin was perfect in size and space. Had everything I needed and with it being dog friendly, its was really the most amazing stay. This spot is a must for a bucket list. The two guys that work there are cool!

  • Great place to be a home base to explore the area...have a breakfast sandwich and a slice of pie, both are delicious

    Greg2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this little cabin! It was so cozy and I love the river running behind it and the window that looks out to it from the cabin. The kitchen at a stovetop and a small fridge and some cooking ware that we enjoyed making dinner with :) in the general store on the property they had everything you need and more and are so friendly !! would stay again if I’m in the area !!!

    Leah2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The location is what made this stay special. It’s about what you would expect from a roadside cabin (probably cleaner than most). Be sure to sit by the river and watch for the sheep. Relaxing overnight stay.

The Wapiti Cabin (Indian word for "elk") at the Black Canyon RV Campground and Cabins is a comfy cabin that can sleep up to 4. The kitchen, living area and full bathroom are on the main level. The wood trim and stairway of red cedar leads up to the loft bedroom which has one double bed and two single beds. The outside entry area has a small patio with a picnic table. Dec 1 to May 1 - laundry facilities may not be available.
  • This was such a wonderful experience! The cabin is beautiful and has everything you need for your stay, including a well-furnished kitchen. The cabin is super close (~25 ish min) to Black Canyon NP, and the host left a helpful book of info for the park that helped guide our visit. The surroundings are gorgeous and the night sky view is absolutely stunning. Larry was fantastic and was accommodating of our late arrival. Everyone around us was friendly and we can’t wait to come back soon!

    Rachel2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect cabin for four; it had everything we needed! The setting is definitely the best part, expansive views, opportunities to see wildlife, and amazing stars. There was a charcoal grill and little firepit right outside the cabin. Larry was very welcoming. Note that one of the twin beds is closer in size to a cot, but it does the job!

    Samantha2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for peacefulness, serenity, and cleanliness, this cabin is for you. The host takes pride in his campground and is very personable. it shows he takes care of his guests.

    Dom2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We have had the best time here! The cabin is amazing! Feeding the birds is awesome! We experienced all the seasons this week. We grilled , we fed the wildlife, we sat in the hot tub and saw the stars! We woke up to snow! We had fires in the lovely stove! I feel so lucky to have shared your lovely home! I would come back in a heart beat! This was the best place to celebrate our 25th anniversary! Thank you for the peace amd quiet!

    Lisa2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place rules, Steve and Cassie obviously love this place a lot and you can tell from the very moment you walk in. If you want to get away from the daily grind this is the place, the cabin is set at the end of one of the most scenic roads I've ever driven down. My dogs especially loved it and I felt really sorry for bringing them home. Most importantly as a person who suffers celiac having safe food to eat is always important, we brought a lot of cookware from home and made use of the kitchen, we found it just as functional as our home kitchen. Definitely stay here!

    Hannah2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • You won’t be disappointed with this little piece of paradise. If relaxation and peace are what you’re looking for...look no further...this is the place for you. Great hosts. Great place.

  • Such a wonderful spot! Private and relaxing. You can expect to enjoy mornings and evenings outside on the porch hand feeding the grey jays and watching chip monks running all around. We saw a few deer and a beautiful silver fox. The cabin felt very homey. You will feel totally refreshed after spending a few days here!

    Jackie2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay. Made us feel like we were at home. Peaceful and quiet and the people that live in the area were wonderful.

  • The cabin was very clean and cozy for our short stay. It had everything we needed. We had some confusion with the check in time and got in after 6pm. Larry meet us and showed us in the cabin, it was nice to have that personal greeting. We would stay again when in the area. Thanks for having us.

  • Bob’s Airbnb was absolutely perfect for me and my girlfriends Colorado road trip! The cabin is close to Black Canyon of the Gunnison which was wonderful for us to wake up and hit the park first thing. The porch was our favorite part to relax and enjoy the sunset together! Would stay again and again!

    Emelie2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and clean. The perfect stop for our trip. Hosts were very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Great cabin, located right off US50 (the main highway through the area). Bob, the host was genuinely friendly and told us the history of the cabin, how he and his sons built it. Bob told us about some local sights, that we did not know about even though we have visited the Black Canyon south rim area several times.

    Rodney2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great people and location! We enjoyed our stay.

    Kariann2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Larry had things under control for sure! Amazing views, endless wildlife and less people and bugs than expected! Can’t wait to get back!

    Jt2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for exploring Black Canyon and the surrounding area. The cabins are nicely done and very clean. Our cabin with the Queen bed downstairs and 3 Twin beds in the loft had more than enough room for our family of 4. Kitchen well stocked for cooking in. Wi-Fi worked great. We found out no air conditioning needed, even in July - just open windows & let the cool night air in. Host was friendly & welcoming. Our only regret was not staying more than 1 night.

  • This place is amazing! 6 of us stayed there for a hunting trip and the home was a fantastic home base. The beds were comfy, fireplace warm, hot water on demand and a dumpster on property. The Direct TV and wall mounted TV was a nice tough. All in all a great place. If you like to prepare gourmet meals a few suggestions. This is not a dig on the home itself because it is amazing. If you want to prepare nice meals bring a small kitchen bag with a good fry pan and sharp knives. The beds are amazing by the way and the place was spotless!!!! There are a few wandering dogs in the neighborhood that are very friendly. However, do not leave anything that smells good to them outside or they will wander off with it!!!

  • Very clean and well-appointed home. Spacious enough to host a small family reunion of 6, including gear for all for fishing and hiking. The kitchen is very well stocked which made it easy for us to make some fairly extensive meals! Coffee maker, large cookware pieces, full-size refrigerator and stove/oven. Also, the dishwasher and washer/dryer were a bonus! Was not expecting towels to be provided! Thanks! Beds were clean and comfortable! Fireplace took the chill off each morning. Awesome trip! Great space. Highly recommend. (:

  • The perfect place to call "home" while visiting Black Canyon NP and all other local attractions. Like the Black Canyon itself, pictures cannot capture the beauty of this place. From the relaxing back patio and deck to the soothing sound of the river flowing by in your back yard the Gunnison River Lodge makes for a perfect getaway. The place far exceeded our expectations. Helpful hint: If you're a golfer don't forget your clubs! The Dos Rios Golf Club is a stone's throw from the lodge.

  • This is a beautiful setting . The Gunnison River right behind the house is a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy the beauty. The house was just perfect in every way. Very well equipped with anything you might need for cooking. Sitting on the upper deck puts you in a very good place. We thank you.

  • What an amazing spot, I was blown away from the location and value this place brings. Everything we needed was in the house and more directions of where to eat and what to do in the area were included in the check in guide. Quick responses and all around great hospitality! Will definitely be returning!

  • This is a great home. We were there in the winter and still enjoyed fishing in the river. We hiked at the Black Canyon and skied at Monarch Mountain. We enjoyed just sitting inside and watching the bald eagle fly past in the morning and again in the evenings. It was perfection!

  • Cozy cabin in the heart of Colorado. Beautiful scenery

    Johan2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cydney, what a great host! They were on site & took care of all our needs. Cabin 8 was a little hot during the time we were there, but they accommodated with a 2nd fan. My husband opened the window & pointed the fan toward the outside, so it could pull the air in from the door, it cooled down pretty fast. The cabin was great for both my boys, who have a Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. They are ambulatory, but climbing stairs are difficult, they fall frequently & their muscles tire quickly. There were no steps to climb & they had a little area near the river that had a path though some small trees they could walk through which was perfect to help them work on balance. Cydney also invited our boys to help feed the 2 lambs they had on site, which, of course, they loved. It was a great base location to explore the surrounding areas!

    Emily2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Cydney's super comfortable cabins. My favorite part was walking along the creek that meanders through the back of the cabins and the fact that the cabin was big enough for 3 people and 1 dog to stay comfortably. Cydney and her staff were very gracious and went above and beyond to make sure that our stay went smoothly. One small warning - there is no cell service and the wifi is really limited to the store. This was a benefit because we truly had to unplug :)

    Meredith2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Although it may be easy to miss if you're driving through Western Colorado, this was a perfect home base for a vacation away from the everyday headaches of living and working in the city. A fairly central location for sight seeing, hiking, a few history lessons, and small towns with great food!

We offer 3 PRIVATE bedrooms but the rate that you are seeing is only for ONE bedroom. If the 2nd or 3rd bedroom is needed, they will be available for an EXTRA FEE of $26 per person. We cannot feature this rate adjustment on our listing because Airbnb doesn't have that option. We prefer the setup to be one private bedroom for each couple or guests of the same party if additional bedrooms are needed. I hope that you have read this first before sending a request to book our listing.
Please let us know how many bedrooms you would like. Come enjoy a Southwestern home in the Colorado mountains. You will have a private bedroom and bath with access to sitting areas downstairs. The kitchen has all amenities with a shelf in the refrigerator just for you. There's a pond with a canoe in the grassy, green backyard. The Dos Rios neighborhood has lots of trees, ponds & deer. The Gunnison River is a stone's throw away. The town of Gunnison is about 2 miles east from our home. There is easy access to bike and walking trails. Once you are in the lovely town of Gunnison you will find a variety of restaurants from Mexican to Nepalese to famous Garlic Mike's. Free public bus transportation to and from Mt. Crested Butte is available from town. Bike rentals, ski rentals, rafting & fishing tours can also be found. • Therese's place is a gem in a charming neighborhood; great for taking a walk. She was very responsive with communication, and allowed us to check in an hour earlier than we initially said. We stayed in the Owl room, which offered a soft (not firm) bed. She even had coffee made and ready for us early in the morning. A great experience for sure.

    David2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Therese's place is located in a beautiful, wooded area with a steam close by. She and Jack were perfect hosts, making us feel welcome and quite comfortable in their clean, well-kept home. We hope to stay with them again.

  • Cydney was a great host! Perfect lil cabin on our road trip.

    Chelsea2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved the cabin! Even though I don't cook, it gave a little extra something to have a kitchenette with microwave, stove, fridge, sink, dishes, etc. The bed was super comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was awesome! Be aware that you will not have ANY service in this cabin (as it says in the description), so forget the phone and bring a book! The main store has enough bandwidth for texting/internet, but not calls. I found it relaxing to be unplugged for a few days, even when i had car problems. Cydney and Tito were major life savers, and helped get me back on the road safely! I highly recommend staying here and getting in touch with your "nature" side! Thanks again!

    Sarah2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin #1 was a perfect place to relax after exploring the region with our pups. We will definitely be back. Thanks Cydney for your helpfulness during our stay.

  • Simple, clean, rustic... this is a no fuss, no-frills kind of place. If you’re looking for a cozy, safe environment where you are close to outstanding wilderness and fishing this is the place for you. The kind of people who would really thrive here are people who can be sensitive to the local culture and are not expecting the world to bend over backwards for them. It’s a wonderful place to explore, be curious about, and have long stretches of uninterrupted quiet time. It takes a lot to create an establishment that is so remote from civilization and have all the moving pieces working. Its important to appreciate the simplicity of this place, and be gentle with the resources you are being granted. Cydney and Tito were truly kind to us. One of the best parts of our trip was getting to know them! She even goes out of her way to recycle which is a real effort in a place like this. That takes commitment! Cydney also goes into town personally to purchase all of the food that she prepares at her café. Amazing pie, amazing burgers, amazing people. We would definitely stay here again!

    Eli2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quanit, cozy, clean cabin - close to national forest access. Hosts were very friendly & accomodating. Cydney makes fresh pie daily that you can get at the store. There is not internet access in the cabin as others have mentioned - but disconnecting can be good for the mind at times, especially while in the mountains.

    Kelly2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great for a short getaway. The hosts are awesome and make wonderful pie. Cabins are right off the highway so a little noisy with driving by cars but I still slept great.
