  • We couldn’t be more impressed with Artie’s lodge. Everything from start to finish was top notch. Elizabeth was a fantastic host and very welcoming. The views are incredible and the lodge itself is beautiful, filled with really quirky features. Lovely touches like the gin and bath bombs made it great to relax. The breakfast was delicious and it was delivered to us hot and at the time requested. Our dog Dennis had a lovely time and made a friend in Elsa :) All in all a fantastic trip and we highly recommend!

  • A perfect romantic getaway with stunning views across the lake, I would without a doubt stay here again!

    Jack2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived to a personal welcome, and were made to feel at home right away. We were treated to a cooked breakfast on both mornings, which was a pleasant surprise! Is spite of the weather, the views of Lake Windermere were amazing from the large windows on the ground floor. The home is gated, with secure gardens for our dog to play. We’re hoping to return in the summer to see the lake in all it’s glory!

    Kyle2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. I came with very little knowledge of what to expect and I had an amazing time. The host is very friendly, available and helpful. I had no idea where to go walking and the host immediately gave me several recommendations. Artie's Lodge overlooks Lake Windmere with a stunning, undisturbed view. The place inside is kept extremely clean and is full of character and quirks. The lodge is very well furnished. My favourite bits were the massive bed and amazing bathtub! I went with the full English breakfast and certainly wasn't disappointed. The meat was extremely flavourful and those home grown eggs! I came away having really enjoyed my stay and just wished I were staying longer. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Elizabeth was a fantastic host - the lodge is beautiful, the location is perfect, and breakfast was delicious and a much appreciated addition to the stay. Oh, and the view! One of our best AirBnB’s we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in many around the world. Thanks very much for a great stay, 100% recommended.

    Josh2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay! We had such a wonderful time! Thank you so much for making us feel welcome, we will definitely be back!

    Daniel2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely visit. Beautiful location and close by to bars/restaurants. The out house was bigger than expected and the breakfast was an amazing touch. Wish we stayed longer. Elizabeth was very accommodating and we would love to come back in the summer time and explore even more of Lake Windermere.

    Zoe2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, great service and amazing views with a cosy window seat. Delicious breakfast. Would go again!

Great value for money.

  • Lovely little place to stay with very froendly and helpful hosts. Easy to get to and find. Private hot tub is lovely to have access to and with it normally having a gazebo over, useable in almost any weather! Very comfy bed and cozy sofa to curl up on. The only things I'd change/add is a few more/new utensils in the kitchen (e.g. tongs for cooking and sharp knives) and curtains for the 2 doors. Just to make it that bit cozier when it's dark. We will be keeping in mind for future Lake District adventures!

  • Lovely place, nice and quiet, cosy, we hardly left the place all weekend!

Debbie was quick to respond to messages and any queries we had. Loved having use of the local leisure centre facilities too. Would highly recommend!

    Chloe2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie is an excellent host, showed us about at check in and how to use the hot tub etc and any questions you had throughout the weekend were answered with fast and helpful responses, the house looks exactly like the photos so wasn’t disappointed, free use of the health club along the road is the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend to friends and will be staying again myself

Built in 2012, our slate and stone camping barns boast 6 single beds on the first floor. The ground floor space includes a dining area, kitchen area which includes a microwave, kettle, toaster, small fridge and a single electric hot plate. and a ground floor wet room. Bedding, towels, cutlery, crockery are all provided. Outside are stunning views, a picnic area and public footpaths through the farm. Breakfast is not provided can be requested at an additional cost.
With copious amounts of slate and wood, our camping barns are easy to move in and out of. Plenty of space for your belingings, with linen and towels provided. Bright and airy but with a woodburner including oven / hotplates.
Our neighbours are a good distance away. The nearby village of Oxen Park has a well-liked pub, The Manor, and an independent cinema, The Carthouse. A village store, chip shop, butcher and The Bakehouse bakery can be found in Greenodd.
  • Lovely barn with comfy single beds on a mezzanine level. Very clean and enough kitchen space to cook simple meals. Location is fantastic 15mins to Grizedale and magical countryside all around. Great pub one mile away.

    Hannah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing holiday cottage. Stayed over New Year with My family. We all had an amazing time. The Manor House Pub is within walking distance for great food and drink. Will hopefully visit again!

    Will2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely brilliant, this place had everything. Such a beautiful location too. Highly recommended.

    Elissa2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing find! Beautiful sunrises. Was a bit nervous about the lack of heating-packed hot water bottles and extra blankets but these were not needed! We actually slept with the bedroom windows open as the fire made the barn so toasty.... Thoroughly recommend Grizedale Forest for bike and walking trails, the Go Ape there was also fantastic with helpful staff. Best family meal out (possibly ever?!) at The Manor in Oxen Park as recommended by Carole. Nothing too much trouble for hosts....even topped up our coolant when a warning light came on in our vehicle. We actually used our blankets for sitting on in front of the fire in the evening-something I would recommend!

    Shelley2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a number of people looking for a quiet place to lay their heads or for indoor/outdoor games. We had about 6 beds at the place which really suited our 1 night stay.

    Gerald2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really great place to stay if you're a fan of the Lake District. Wood was provided for the fire and Carole even returned a mobile phone a friend had accidently left there through the post. Great host.

    Marc2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for a great barn. Nice and clean, spacious accommodation with plenty to do. I'd say definitely take some indoor footwear like sliders / slippers as the ground floor is cold but the room itself is warm from the log burner and heater! Highly recommend

    Dave2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very clean, a fire was lit on our arrival and the whole place had a very cosy feel, a selection of board games are available and a local pub is a 15 min walk away. We were met on arrival by the owners who live on site. There are plenty of walks from the site

We fell in love with this place the moment we arrived. The peace of the area gave us a chance to relax in the beautiful surroundings. Close by, the lake, hills and mountains gave us the chance to have some adventures. Our Lake District cottage is one of four properties that were once the mill in Water Yeat. It has an open kitchen dining room which makes a great space to relax. The living room has a wood burning stove, vaulted ceiling and large windows with views over the hamlet and countryside.
Our cottage has: An open kitchen diner with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A living room with two sofas, satellite TV, DVD and wood-burning stove. 1 double bedroom with king-size bed 1 double bedroom with double day bed Bathroom with bath and separate shower Hallway Parking for two vehicles Garden and patio
We live in a small hamlet with lovely views and walks and cycle rides in all directions. Walk straight onto the nearby hills, down to the river or along to the lake Coniston Water. Nearby are the villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, the higher Lakeland mountains and Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin. A little further are Ambleside, Windermere, Langdale and Grasmere. The area has many great cafes and pubs serving local produce. For the more adventurous there is great mountain walking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and sailing close by, independently or with local adventure companies.
  • Had a perfect week with our 2 beagles, garden perfect for them to run around in. Cottage has everything we needed and will definitely be coming back

Water Yeat Mill, England, United Kingdom

A romantic, stylish and cosy cottage for two in the beautiful Lake District National Park, half a mile form the shores of Lake Windermere and 15 minutes drive from Junction 36 of the M6. We've recently completed a top-to-toe renovation of our 250 year old cottage, giving the place a modern rustic feel. There are many wonderful walks and bike rides available right from the front door and some great gastropubs nearby - plus the 2 Michelin starred L'Enclume restaurant just a few miles away.
Free BT super-fast WiFi. Charging point for electric vehicle. Smart TV with FreeSat. 15 minutes drive from Junction 36 of M6. LGBTQ friendly. Dog friendly. We can organise fun things for a special occasion, including champagne and local handmade chocolates - please just ask.
Lake Windermere is a short walk from our front door, accessed via the National Trust's Fell Foot Park. Newly opened Active Base centre at Fell Foot offers a range of watersports. Across the lake at Lakeside is the Haverthwaite Steam Railway, the Lakes Aquarium and you can take the passenger ferry around England's largest lake with Windermere Lake Cruises.
  • Back to reality after what was the most relaxing and tranquil weekend. Loveday was just perfect for what we needed and exceeded all expectations. The perfect place to unwind and put your feet up after long walks and breathtaking scenery, all a stones throw from the cottage. Thank you for making our weekend so special.

  • Great cottage, even better in person! Very clear!

    Rhys2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage has everything you want! It’s Spacious, very clean, well equipped, cosy fire, amazing wooden bath and the best homemade brownies we’ve ever had. It has country walks just down the road and is in a good location for driving round to all the lakes. I would recommend to anyone wanting a cosy get away.

  • A rustic peaceful haven with very thoughtful touches

    Paul2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home, perfect location for a getaway! Couldn’t fault a single thing and we will 100% be back in the future

    Jack2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Loveday, such a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Clear communication and Emma and Gregor have added lots of personal touches. Would definitely stay again!

    Holly2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing little find!! Loveday cottage couldn’t get any better, the place itself is so cosy and homely but so high end and chic at the same time. You can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into making it what it is. The homemade brownies were a lovely personal touch too - much appreciated. The location is perfect and close to Lake Windermere which is lovely but it’s still far enough out of the way to feel like you’re hidden from the world. Words can’t describe how chilled and at home we felt in the cottage and also how lucky we were to find it! If you’re considering staying here don’t bother reading anymore reviews JUST BOOK!! You will not regret it ❤️

    Nicola2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loveday is the perfect, quiet base to explore the Lakes. The cottage has been tastefully renovated and has everything you could need. I have enjoyed exploring Windermere, Ambleside and all the surrounding areas (even in the rain) and coming home to a warm fire and cosy cottage. Many thanks Emma and Gregor, I hope to be back when there’s less rain :)

  • Wonderfully clean, warm and welcoming space! Parking available directly outside, and we didn't use the car at all over our long weekend stay, as walks with our dog took us out and about to Ambleside and Windermere. Loved the new shower room, ample hot water, lovely kitchen space for cooking after long days of gorgeous walks, and close to two fab pubs, The Black Bull and The Ship. The bed is huge and comfy! Stuart and Sandy made us and Cera so welcome. We arrived in the dark, after a long drive, but no problem. Thank you, we feel so rested.

A stunning 200 year-old cottage located in the charming small village of Bouth in the Lake District, now a UNESCO world heritage region. Situated on a quiet country road and bounded on two sides by open fields, with grazing shire horses and Jersey cows, this is the idyllic country retreat. The cottage has been renovated to the highest standard whilst retaining all the charm of its period. The traditional village pub is a few metres away. Breathtaking natural scenery awaits you from the doorway.
The architect-designed interior of this cottage has been exquisitely restored in the most beautiful quirky and contemporary style. The original fireplace, beams, and floorboards have been exposed and walls restored using traditional lime plaster. Solid oak handmade interior doors with beautiful ironmongery and a stunning white birch staircase have been added. Downstairs is a light and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with rear access to a fabulous patio, where you can catch the sun for an alfresco breakfast and dine till late in the evening in the warmth of the sunset. The lounge area with comfy luxurious sofas, stone flooring and wood burner is the perfect spot for cosy relaxation after a long day. The dining area has a solid oak table with bench seating for four to enjoy a meal together and the light kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, with an electronic oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, food processor, comprehensive kitchen utensils and washing machine. On the first floor, where the original A-frame beams are exposed to the apex of the roof, there is a spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed and a large, beautifully tiled shower and WC en-suite. There is also a second equally lovely en-suite WC. Outside the property is a private, raised patio with garden furniture, enclosed wildflower garden and shed for storing bikes. There is parking at the property, with an electric car charging option and space for two cars.
The village offers a traditional pub a few metres from the cottage and a heritage farm where visitors can see traditional farming methods, even ride traction engines and enjoy a small cafe selling home-made ice cream, fresh milk and eggs. There are numerous walks of great unspoilt natural beauty from the cottage and quiet roads and tracks for cycling and mountain biking. The beautiful west coast of Cumbria with vast empty beaches is a 30 minute drive, whilst the Lakeland fells and lakes are accessible in all directions. Nearby, 15 minutes drive, is the quaint market town of Ulverston, with its narrow cobbled streets, where you can find good supermarkets, cafes and restaurants and charming craft shops. From the motorway there is a fast road without the traffic congestion of the tourist blackspots, giving efficient access to the cottage and from there to the rest of the Lake District National Park.
  • Wow what a beautiful cottage! It had everything we needed and was really clean. We had a great night sleep, the beds were super comfy. Loved our stay here! Would highly recommend, thank you so much :)

Our home is in the hamlet where Arthur Ransome, author of 'Swallows & Amazons' spent his childhood holidays. Today it still retains its charm, even in high summer. We are a stone's throw from the lake, with woodlands & waterfalls on our doorstep.
We have 2 lovely guest bedrooms, each with king-size beds, sharing a spacious bathroom. (We often only have one guest group at a time but on busy weekends you may have to share the facilities.) I provide fresh towels, shower & bath products, wifi access & tea/coffee making facilities in your room. You can enjoy your buffet breakfast either in the kitchen by the Aga, or outside if the weather is nice. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare your packed lunch or a simple evening meal though of course you may prefer to visit one of the local pubs or restaurants; the nearest pub is the Red Lion ( a gentle 2 mile walk away if you're feeling energetic!)
If you want to leave the car behind, just step out of the door! Explore the small pebbled beaches and coves at the southern end of the lake by foot or on your bike. The lovely National Trust steam boat 'Gondola' plies the lake and you can have a leisurely cruise, or perhaps visit Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin for over 30 years. If you want to climb the fells, the Old Man of Coniston and other famous Lakeland peaks are just up the road.

  • Would highly recommend - beautiful location away from the usual tourist spots but still within reach of nice local pubs, walks etc. Gesine and Glen were amazing hosts, very easy communications and check in, possibly the cleanest Airbnb I've stayed at, and much appreciated local recommendations (Queens Heads Inn (Hawkshead) and Manor House both amazing food). The eggs were also much appreciated and very tasty!

  • Our stay away was absolutely lovely! A perfect getaway for any couple. A lovely small cottage with everything we needed there. The greeting was lovely and we were shown where different things were. The homegrown eggs and complimentary milk made amazing scrambled egg too! Thanks very much.

A converted barn situated at Newby Bridge, located Close to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, and a short walk to the Swan Hotel & Spa. The cottage sleeps up to 3 guests and the stylish accommodation has a single and a super king-size bed on a mezzanine floor above a snug living room area, around a wood burning stove and a very large open living space. Well placed to explore the Southern Lakes, with easy access to both Hawkshead and Coniston, as well as Windermere and Ambleside.
The access, parking and gardens are shared with Waterside House.
The Swan at Newby Bridge is lovely to stroll along to for a meal. The National Trust Fell Foot Park around the corner is worth a visit. You can take one of the Steamers on Lake Windermere from Lakeside up to Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside.
  • An excellent spacious barn (for two to three guests) which is both well equipped and boasts many interesting features. It's in a great location for exploring the lakes and is in a quiet spot immediately adjacent to the Haverthwaite to Lakeside steam rail track. It's a 5minute walk to Newby Bridge Station, which is handy. Don't be put off by the noise from the passing trains as you'll hardly notice them, plus they only pass infrequently and the first one in the morning isn'tuntil nearly 10:00am. A great comfortable place for a relaxing break.

The Saddleback is a modern ground floor apartment ideal for couples visiting The Lakes. Views to Coniston Old Man, we are located at the heart of Torver Village, next to the famous Wilson Arms. For many years the family have been providing good food, refreshments and excellent hospitality in Torver. Pet Friendly accommodation
We have recently installed a hot tub with this unit which is located outdoors of the premises. The cottage guests have exclusive use of this
  • A wonderful little place. Really easy to find and well furnished. The new hot tub was a great way to soak tired legs!! We also loved the log fire and the comfy bed. The pub next door did really nice food and drink too - I would definitely recommend!

  • Ann’s place is adorable! The settings and surroundings are beautiful and the cortège has everything you need. Ann was communicative and helpful! Great stay!

  • An absolute gem of a place. Ann is an excellent hostess and nothing is too much trouble. The place is squeaky clean, tastefully decorated and warm even in the stormiest weather. We hope to be staying again soon

  • We loved this place at Newby Bridge. I have to say that the entire cottage really exceeded my expectations and that the photos don’t do it that much justice. The place was perfect for us - exploring the Lake District given what we had planned. The kitchen had everything we needed to self cater, and also has a microwave - plus a washing machine (which we needed as we got so muddy from outdoor hiking). There was also coffee, tea and milk provided, which was a lovely touch. Also there’s a cute living room to relax in. The bedroom was a good size and bathroom was very clean! The location was quiet, and despite the stormy weather, we barely registered it. Ann was a great host, and she communicated well! Thank you for the hospitality! :) We really appreciated it. Would highly recommend this place! There are zero cons that I can think of.

  • A really lovely place to stay. Spotlessly clean and did just the job for a weekend away. Ann is extremely accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely recommend if you’re heading to this part of Cumbria.

  • Spotlessly clean and beautifully located, it's a perfect base for Lakeland journeys. Great for couples and small families. Be aware though, the postcode points in the wrong direction as the cottage is actually south of the river.

WASHING MACHINE, DISHWASHER. SUITABLE 2 COUPLES OR FAMILY WITH WELL BEHAVED CHILDREN. HEATING IS (MAINLY) CARBON NEUTRAL BIOMASS
The space A very quiet place close to the shore of Lake Windermere (200m away). Downstairs is an open plan room comprising lounge area with settee and sitting chairs. the dining area has a dining table and two pew type bench seats (came from a local church). The kitchen has all the normal appliances and a food prep island with two stools to sit at. There is wifi and Freesat tv. TV is wall mounted and downstairs only. Also downstairs is a small loo with washbasin and the washing machine in a small adjacent cupboard Guest access Directions are emailed a few days prior to arrival along with access details. Please note I may not be on site to welcome you or see you off at departure. Other things to note The garden is shared and you're welcome to enjoy it but please note that the surfaces are uneven and can be slippery. There are a couple of pubs/ inns that provide food but you may need to book it and space could be limited. Another great option is to get a meal delivered by a local company who actually deliver nationwide but are located in the Lake District. We have negotiated a 10% discount for our guests using the discount code THE BARN. If you search for Montgomerys dinner delivery service you should find it. Our water and heating is predominantly wood fuelled thus relatively carbon neutral. The hot water is however 'hot' so please note this. Please note that the Barn is for 4 people not any more, should you wish to exceed this for a reason please tell us before booking. Car parking is for one car only, should you need more it should be left on the raid by the junction. Again please let us know beforehand. More than 1 car clogs up the drive too much.
Emma’s place is located in Cumbria, England, United Kingdom. We are located on the West side of the beautiful Lake Windermere approx 4 miles form the nearest shops. Beatrix Potters house and Hill Top are approx 1 mile away as is the National Trust Claife viewing station and cafe by the ferry overlooking the Lake. It is a very quiet side of the lake and the closest towns are Ambleside at the Northern part of the lake and Windermere/Bowness on the East side. For a bigger town Kendal is 35-40 minute drive round the bottom of the lake (Asda, Morrison, Aldi, Halfords B&Q etc etc)

This is a unique opportunity to step back in time and stay in a Romany gypsy caravan. With a full double bed, seating area, wood burning stove and outside fire pit. Full shower facilities with a small kitchen area.
Romany Rose is a traditional gypsy caravan with all the beautiful and unique features of a bygone era. The double bed is full size but due to its position on a raised platform is most comfortable for anyone 6 foot or less!
Romany Rose gypsy caravan is set at the head of the Cartmel Valley, 3 miles from the historic village of Cartmel with its beautiful priory and regular race meets on its very own race course. The southend of lake Windermere is just 2 miles along the road with boat trips, steam train rides and an aquarium.
  • Lovely location and everything you need ! Went for dinner into Cartmel which was a lovely village and then went to the swan for a spa day after our sleep in this beautiful caravan. Will be coming again when the weather is nice to take advantage of the fire pit but the rainy weather added to the beauty of this little gem

My place is good for couples, and families (with kids). Business people have also been happy to stay. One bedroom has two singles which can convert to a king size bed and the other room has a double bed. The shower room has a shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin. No washer in the cabin but guests are welcome to use mine. Country location, ten minutes from Coniston Water and twenty minutes from Windermere. Lots of tourist attractions in the area.
    Garden furniture on the veranda.
Lowick is quite a scattered village, chippy and post office/store in Greenodd about five minutes drive. Ulverston, ten minutes drive is a quaint market town with small interesting shops as well as supermarkets. Fifteen minutes away is the peaceful Conishead Priory and Buddhist Temple.
  • A great place to stay, the host has a good selection of DVDs or reading material for when you're inside, and it's in a perfect spot for hitting a good amount of places in the south lakes. The cabin had a lot of eco products which is always a nice sight. The host was kind enough to put the lights and heating on as we had a late arrival which was a lovely gesture.

    Michael2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. The place has all you may need. Excellent dvd collection. The host was extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

  • Better than the pics. This place is a home from home. So impressed. Great distance from everything, really well furnished kitchen, really well equipped throughout. I took mum and my best friend on a couple of days walking round the lakes, Yvonne's spot was cozy, comfy and perfect. Thank you!

    David2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this little cabin! Stayed with my husband and a friend visiting from abroad. There were so many nice things such as the milk and biscuits left for us. I also loved that it was all cruelty free And eco friendly cleaning products, as that’s really important to me :) I didn’t have a chance to meet the host, but check in was super easy and we didn’t have any problems. However, being there in winter meant lots of ice and VERY dark, very early, so important to be aware of this if you’re driving and not familiar with the area. Thanks so much for such a lovely stay!

    Yasmine2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautiful, in a quaint location, with lovely homely touches. It's impossible not to relax here. It is wonderfully stocked with games, books, DVDs, and CDs! We are sad to have to leave, but will definitely be returning as soon as possible. This might become a regular visit for us - you cant loose a gem like this.

The cottage has a lovely woodburner, which gives the property a cosy country feel that makes it special. This is the perfect springboard to the Lakes, and if you like your walking, there are many walks from Hatherthwaite up to the Lakes and beyond. Many years ago you would have travelled to Haverthwaite to purchase gunpowder, nowadays you go there for peace and quiet! Haverthwaite is only a few minutes down the A590 from Backbarrow, 4 miles north of Cartmel, and has moved on from its days as an iron, steel, cotton and gunpowder-producing village to become a more tranquil getaway. Haverthwaite is famous the the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Running along the line that once transported gunpowder to the dockyards, the railway now carries tourists along the scenic route in traditional, heritage steam trains. Many of the old industrial buildings have been converted into flats or houses, whilst a number of beautiful holiday cottages have sprung up over the years to accommodate the large number of tourists who arrive in the village each year. The village’s history lives on in buildings like the old Gunpowder Works, with its ornate clock tower, and St Anne’s Church, which was built in 1824. A true taste of local life can be found at the local pub, which specialises in real ales, as well as putting on live music and quiz nights. Beach 3½ miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ¼mile.

The Farmhouse is a characterful, white washed 17th century farmhouse set in a secluded 1.2 acres of woodland with private lake access (shared with two other cottages) leading to the beautiful waters of lake Coniston. Situated in an enviable spot, the cottage is an ideal place for couples, families or small groups, to come and unwind in the peaceful surroundings and explore the Lakes by foot, bike or boat. As from January 2020 there will be building work going on at house opposite weekdays only
The Farmhouse has been re-furbished to a high standard with a new kitchen, carpets, family bathroom with roll top bath, shower room and thermostatically controlled central heating. The period feel has been sympathetically maintained with exposed beams in all rooms, cast iron wood burning stove in an original fire place setting, antique furniture and even a 300 year old bread oven. The cottage has two generous bedrooms, one with a king size bed and wash basin, the other with twin beds. In addition, there are two bathrooms, a spacious lounge with wood burner, piano, flat screen TV and DVD player, kitchen/diner with iPod dock, Wifi and CD player /radio, porch and large ground floor cloakroom area. A private foot path leads from the front door directly to a large grassy area (perfect for children and pets to play) and a private beach where boats/canoes can be launched or barbecues and picnics enjoyed. The footpath and beach are shared with two other adjoining cottages only. Please note, there is no enclosed private garden as such but there is plenty of grassy space down by the lake for your children (or dogs) to let off steam. This is fenced either side leading down to the lake with a path leading up to the cottage on one side and lake on the other. Other numerous footpaths can be accessed easily from the cottage, following lakeside routes to the lovely village of Coniston or fanning out over the stunning scenery of Blawith Common. Coniston village with it's shops, pubs and other amenities is only 4 miles away and other lakeland villages, towns and tourist attractions are all within easy reach. A selection of children's / adults books, DVD's, games and maps are all available at the cottage for you to use. Use of barbecue. Cot and high chair available on request. Prices include electric, all bed linen, towels, BBQ charcoal and logs for stove (extra available to buy locally).

Weather wasn’t great during our stay but it didn’t dampen our enjoyment, however location must be great in summer as you have immediate access to the lake. • We loved staying at Lucy's cottage! So homely and just what we needed. The cottage has a shared private Lake and woodland which our dog absolutely adored. The wood burner next to the TV was a treat for us Londoners and the kitchen was well equipped. The bed was super comfortable with spare towels and linen. Would absolutely stay again. Thanks again Lucy!!

  • Lovely, cosy cottage within easy walking distance of the lake. Clean and tidy with lots of tips for places to visit and ideas for things to do. Lots of dvds, books and games too. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was well equipped. There's a lovely walk which starts just across the main road and has amazing views of Coniston Water. Lucy is an excellent host and was very to respond to queries we had. Would definitely return.

Bank Cottage is a 'one off' experience of a stay. Once a bank, now a converted cottage. It still has many of the old, period features, including exposed beams and the original flagged floors. Bank Cottage is in the heart of the village of Greenodd, in the Lake District. It is the perfect stay for hikers and families alike. Just a stone throw from the local café, newsagents/post office, Fish and Chip Shop, The Porterage Co. and The Ship Inn means you have the village at your doorstep.
The cottage itself is upside down! Entering through the front door brings you to the newly renovated kitchen which flows through to the sunroom, and the large living room. The living room is a L shaped space with space for seated dining as well as plenty of seats to gather round the wood burning fire on cold nights. Perfect for marshmallows! There is a large shower-room on this floor. The balcony extends off the sunroom and is partially covered and cannot be seen by the surrounding houses. Downstairs leads to the two large bedrooms and modern bathroom with a double walk in shower and a large bath. The master bedroom includes a king-sized bed and access to the laundry/boot room, if you require the facilities. The other bedroom is a spacious twin room with plenty of storage space for your stay.
The house comes with free WI-FI though super-fast fibre internet, a washing machine, a smart TV that can be used to access a variety of streaming networks. There is also a log burning fire some initial fuel for the stove is included in the price for the cottage. There is fully fitted and furnished kitchen. There is also a travel cot and high-chair available to use for the younger adventurers. There are steps at the entrance of the property, however the doorways are very wide, due to its past life as a bank, however, the stairs in the house are narrow and curved.
  • Beautifully stylish place but cosy at the same time, great tips in the guide book there (including a lovely walk me and my dad went on), and very welcoming to arrive with home made cookies and fresh milk. Thank you Beth.

    Mark2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • There aren’t enough compliments to give Bank Cottage! We were greeted by delicious homemade biscuits and a welcome note which immediately set the tone of our stay. Beth has thought of everything- games, information brochures, local pub/cafe menus, a box of toiletries in the bathroom, and even some welcome treats in the fridge for our little girl. Really can’t recommend this cottage highly enough and will most certainly be back.

    Michaela2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, super cosy! A real home from home

    Hannah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bank Cottage is a lovely, cosy house that is sparklingly clean and has everything you need for a break in the South Lakes. Beth left really thoughtful treats for us - the ready-made fire and homemade cookies were perfect after a day climbing in the wind and rain. Wish we’d been able to stay longer!

    Louise2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful place! Will definitely be telling family and friends to go! Such thoughtful touches on arrival (homemade cookies!) and tea and coffee left ready, and little things around the house to make your stay easier such as maps and a "forget box" and dog treats! Thank you for a great stay

    Bethany2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's home went well beyond our expectations at every turn. The space is beautiful and really thoughtfully decorated, Beth even welcomed us with home baked cookies and a card! Everything has been thought of and the house is a perfect base for a quiet weekend in the Lakes. We honestly can't recommend Beth's place enough and look forward to staying again as soon as we can!

    Georgia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Bank Cottage, there were home made cookies waiting for us upon our arrival and Beth had even left our little boy a little treat too! The info booklet is great and is another touch that goes the extra mile to help you have a great stay. Loved the fire (wood/ firelighters were provided) and the beds were very comfy! Would highly reccomend and there is a shop next door and a cafe/ bakery a few doors down!

    Faye2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's place is absolutely stunning with all the amenities you need. She's gone the extra mile in decorating the place and making everything easy and simple for travellers the same. Bank Cottage is warm and welcoming. We'll definitely be back again during summer time and highly recommend the place to anyone.

  • Amazing and friendly host, always quick with responses, very helpful and reliable. The modern place is just a perfect gettaway for couples. Would definitely use kathryns place again if i ever come back to lake district!

    Vini2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Best place i have stayed in, in Lake District area.

    Usman2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Hunters Moon. Kathryn and Jon were really friendly and helpful throughout our stay, the place was immaculate and beautifully decorated throughout. There were plenty of walks straight from the apartment. Thank you!

    Sarah2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is exactly as described. Beautifully decorated in idillic scenery. The thing that really stood out however was how lovely and helpful Kathryn was. She could literally not have done more for us and even left a bottle of champers when finding out it was my birthday. I would recommend for anyone to stay here looking for a holiday in the lakes.

    Laura2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This newly renovated Air Bnb is a lovely place to relax and feel home. Kathryn and Jon are very warm and welcoming, as well as respectful of your privacy. They have provided a super collection of DVDs in case of rainy days! The indoor space is tastefully decorated and the outdoor space is beautiful with birds to observe if you sit quietly by the little pond.

    Catherine2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn and Jon are such warm, welcoming hosts, providing everything you need for a comfortable stay at Hunters Moon. The new kitchen and bathroom facilities are an added bonus to this lovely place to relax and feel at home. The bedroom/living room is also newly and tastefully decorated. This opens out on to a patio which creates a feeling of space. There is a very pleasant spot to sit outside beside a pretty little pond with lilies. You might even see Jeremy Fisher!

    Catherine2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place out in the lake district. Stayed for a few days while cycling round the area. The place had a safe place for my bike, and Kathryn was friendly and helpful.

    Matt2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn is the perfect host with a wonderful apartment for use. The place is literally sparkling clean with a modern kitchen and bathroom. We used the twin beds and, although they did feel on the small side, were good and comfortable. Spark Bridge is close to the main Lake District tourist spots whilst being far enough away to be more peaceful. Kathryn also keeps an extremely well stocked tourist information area in the apartment which is very useful when planning trips out. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be recommending the place to friends and family and even hope to return ourselves in the future!

One of only four beautiful new lodges situated in a four acre woodland within the heart of the Lake District (near Satterthwaite, Grizedale). If peace and tranquility in a beautiful natural setting is what you're after then look no further!
Lovingly furnished to provide a wonderful base for exploring the Lake District. The lodge has a large spacious open plan living / dining room with wood burning stove, leading onto a lovely decked patio area with an outdoor table & BBQ. Offering stunning views over Grizedale Forest and a wonderful opportunity to experience wildlife in its most natural habitat – including wild deer which can be seen from the lodge from time to time. The lodge is very spacious and sleeps 6 comfortably (one king, one double and two singles). It's also very cozy for couples and smaller groups. The master bedroom is a lovely space with its own ensuite bathroom (including bath & shower). In addition, there is a separate bathroom with shower cubicle. The lodge has an abundance of hot water - lovely after a day out in the lakes! The only real noise you will occasionally hear (in the distance) is the nearby local waterfall (Force Falls) which offers lovely gentle walks directly from the doorstep. For those feeling a little more adventurous then the area offers some of the best mountain biking trails in the Lake District - a cycling and walking paradise! If you want to bring your bikes along then there is an Asgard bike shed available (accommodates up to 4 bikes).
The lodge is located between Windermere and Coniston Water - approximately one mile away from the lovely village of Satterthwaite. Satterthwaite is a picture postcard little village with its own local pub (Eagles Head) with great home cooked food, a real fire and a very warm welcome. Just beyond Satterthwaite (~2.5 miles from the lodge) is Grizedale Visitors Centre which offers a wide range of activities including Go Ape, Segwaying, mountain biking and a great children’s activity play area. Something for everyone! The closest shops to the lodge can be found in the beautiful village of Hawkshead (15mins by car). Hawkshead is a lovely historic village characterised by its cluster of whitewashed houses & pubs, archways and alleways, courtyards and squares. Its rich history includes connections with the poet William Wordsworth and children's story author Beatrix Potter (home of Beatrix Potter gallery). The lodge is only 4 miles away from Hill Top at Near Sawrey where Beatrix wrote many of her books. From nearby Far Sawrey you can take the ferry across Windermere to Bowness. There is a large supermarket (Booths) in the lovely old historic town of Ulverston (~20 mins by car). If you want to travel a little further afield then the beautiful Lakeland towns of Ambleside and Coniston are only around 10 miles away from the lodge.
  • Another great stay at this Lodge. We’ve been a good few times now and always return to this beautifully clean, welcoming and tranquil place.

    Andy2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and comfortable place, I loved the fire place and view, highly recommend it, the only thing was missing was hot tub, other then that its complete package.

  • Neil and Jane’s Lake District lodge was perfect for us bringing in the new year 2020. We were a group of three couples, and each couple had plenty of space. The rooms were spotless clean and very comfortable. Neil and Jane left us detailed instructions on how to check in, as well as giving us clear directions on how to reach the lodge (as it is quite secluded). We arrived to a nice bottle of wine as well as chocolates. I can’t fault our stay one bit. It exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!

    Scott2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible time at Neil's place - so much so, that we asked for as late a check out as possible on our final day, and then at the last minute, we asked to stay another night - Neil was extremely accommodating about both the late check out and staying another night! The place was very thoughtfully decorated as we were there for Christmas - with rustic Christmas decorations and even a Christmas tree. The location itself is absolutely beautiful and peaceful - though unfortunately, we saw no deer and were hanging out for one to walk by! Neil's restaurant recommendations were also superb. The place is a little tricky to find but with Neil's guidance (and ideally some daylight), it is easily reached.

    Natasha2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my family of 6 rented this Airbnb to celebrate my mum's 60th and had the most fantastic weekend. A beautiful, cosy and very spacious lodge with fantastic amenities a d stunning views. The perfect winter getaway I highly recommend.

    Heather2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous weekend at the lodge. It is so peaceful and a beautiful place to wake up surrounded by trees with only the sound of birds and nearby waterfall. It is a remote location but the directions provided take you right to the door, we had no issues finding it at all. The lodge was sparkling clean, and had plenty of cooking equipment and everything you need. It was minus degrees outside but we were toasty warm inside with the heating on and log burner. The beds are very comfy and the lounge is a nice and spacious place to just relax and soak up the views. We went to griesdale activity centre which is only 5 mins up the road and a nice day out for walks and parks. We had an 18 month old with us who enjoyed the stay too. There is plenty of kids plates/bowls /cups etc and safe places to explore around the lodge. We would definitely return for another stay. Neil replies to any questions very promptly. The only thing we would do differently would be to book 3 nights at a minimum as 2 just wasn’t enough.

    Ruth2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was unbelievably warm and welcoming. Slightly difficult to find at first but Neil's guidance really helped out. The lodge is very clean and has everything you need for a lovely stay. I will definitely be staying here again during my next visit to Cumbria!

    Mohammed2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Neil's house is beautiful. If you are looking for a quiet get away in some lovely scenery with a real fire, look no further. We had a wonderful time here. It's very open so great for groups as it's a very social space. The couches are comfortable and everything was spotless. A great place to stay!

  • Great cosy little cottage, good for families, lots of little touches like a toy box and children’s books in one of the bedrooms, board games, nice cosy living room. Very practical for a family stay in Cumbria with it’s washing machine and drying machine (we got very wet when cycling around Lake Windermere with the kids, though it was great fun we got caught in the rain). Kitchen in excellent working order. Very helpful hosts.

Highly recommend :) We had an eventful time getting there with a flat car battery on New Years Eve and when we finally got in the heating was on, there was wood for the fire, the water was already heated up for a much needed bath and milk ready for a cuppa. It really was an outstanding stay!

  • Cute cottage amazing views

    Nina2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe’s place was a wonderful little cottage and an absolute joy to return too and relax in after a days walking. Zoe was more than happy for me to bring my dogs, even leaving a jar of biscuits and a towel for muddy paws along with the lovely welcome hamper that was left for us. There is literally everything you could need for a comfortable self catering break. Location wise the cottage is great for exploring all of the southern lakes with coniston a short drive up the road. There is a lovely little walk from the cottage which one of the neighbours recommended to us - from the cottage walk up towards the pub, do a right at the church then follow a lane all the way round, takes you to some beautiful views from behind the cottage xx Zoe was an amazing friendly host answering all of my queries promptly and I really feel she goes above and beyond with all the little extras left for you in the cottage (I’ve stayed in some places where there isn’t even a toilet roll!) Thank you Zoe! Xxx
