  • Absolutely beautiful location and such scenic views from the hot tub. Short taxi into Hilltown. Annette couldn’t have been lovelier and was so helpful with all queries, local tips and useful numbers. She also gave the best directions and instructions. Enjoyed reading through the very comprehensive and informative guest book with even local restaurant menus to peruse! So thoughtful and helpful! We had gone for a late valentines treat and Annette had so thoughtfully left petals and heart shaped cushions on the bed - such a lovely surprise! We both had lovely massages/facials with Siobhan next door and I couldn’t recommend more! Very relaxing and what a nice way to treat yourself before the hot tub! Very thoughtful and kind to leave us milk, eggs and butter for the morning. Albeit brief, it was such a lovely stay and will definitely be back! Thank you Annette! :) xxx

  • Annettes place was lovely. The apartment was spotless and very cosy. We only stayed for a night so didn’t get to see much of the surroundings but the view from the hot tub was amazing!Annette was very kind to show us around the house and also left some fresh milk etc for breakfast the next morning. Highly recommend!

  • This is a total gem in the Mournes. Annettes place is the perfect place to spend the weekend and indeed even longer. Location is excellent, views of the area are stunning and the apartment is spotless with so many little extras left for guests. The hot tub was a great bonus too after a days walking. Annette is a charming host and we greatly enjoyed our chats with her. I recommend her place 100% to all future Airbnb guests.

  • Simons place was fabulous! Far enough away from the hustle & bustle that its so quiet and can hear all the birds & nature around you but close enough to everything should you want to go a walk or pop out for lunch! We went for lunch in one of simons recommended pubs - Jonny Murphys and it did not disappoint! There was also a forest park within a couple of minutes drive so we had a nice walk round there first to work up an appetite. Hot tub was available up until 10pm & the garden was lit up with an assortment of lights which made it so relaxing! Also the actual accommodation is actually a lot more spacious than what the pictures portray so was a nice surprise. No issues whatsoever! Smart tv, massive shower, heating on constantly (can turn off obviously but is nice to have the option) and nice added extra's of tea, coffee, milk, bread & fruit! We all had an amazing stay! Thanks Simon & Xadia 😁

A quiet rural retreat, Birch Cottage is off grid and the perfect spot to escape from the world outside. Based on our self sufficient smallholding, you can wake to a view of the beautiful birch woods outside your window, and enjoy the peace and quiet. Walk in the woods, meet the horses and hens, and enjoy fresh produce from our gardens. Some of the most stunning countryside in Northern Ireland is your doorstep. A warm and cosy haven. TNI 4 Star Rated, Green Tourism Gold and Green Key rated.
Birch Cottage sits at the centre of Lackan Cottage Farm, a rural six acre organic smallholding in the heart of the South Down countryside, the home of Steve, Claire and Lyra Golemboski-Byrne. Here we grow our own vegetables, fruit and herbs, keep chickens for eggs, and generate all our own electricity. Our wish is to share the experience of that lifestyle with as many people as possible, and Birch Cottage self catering is an opportunity to do just that. Sleeps 2 – 1 Superking bed or 2 singles. Eco friendly finishes throughout. Heating and hot water is provided by solar panels which power the underfloor heating, supplemented by a cosy woodburner if necessary. The entire farm, including the cottage is off grid - powered entirely by renewable energy on site. We also have our own private woodland for fuel and newly planted willow plantations for basketry and sculpture. We keep two horses on site, which is also home to four cats and lots of chickens. We run courses in various skills such as basket making and greenwoodworking, throughout the year. We also grow plenty of fruit and vegetables, and will let visitors know what is available at the time of their visit. There is: Secure bike store. Drying room, washing machine, dryer. Wifi ****We are unable to accommodate children or pets**** Things to do: Walk around our gardens and woodland. On a clear night, go outside and look at the stars! There are many walks starting from the end of our lane including through Lackan Bog ASSI (which we own a small part of), and which is home to many dragonflies species. We are close to Tollymore and Castlewellan forest parks, Mourne Mountains and the sea. There are lots of maps and guides in the cottage for walking and cycling, and a large rack of many activities from pony trekking to mountain biking to local history such as the Bronte family trail. There are also bird, animal and plant identification books if you spot something interesting. Tourist Board approved 4* accommodation. Green Tourism Gold rated, and the first Green Key approved business in Northern Ireland.
We're based in rural County Down, a short drive away from the Mourne Mountains, Dromara Hills, Slieve Croob, Castlewellan or Tollymore Forest Parks - scene of much of the filming for 'Game of Thrones', and also the beautiful Murlough Bay. Newcastle town and beach are also just 15 minutes drive away.
  • This was a beautiful cottage, great location and hospitality from Claire, would definitely recommend!!

    Rachel2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Claire's place was just the perfect stop for our relaxing evening after spending the day in Belfast. We stayed by the fire drinking wine and played guitar. It was perfect! I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a relaxing evening away from it all. The bed was so cozy as well and it was very clean. Just 5 stars across the board!

    Mike2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Complete peace in a cosy, country retreat. Stunning sunrise against mountains in the morning. Everything you might need is provided. Would recommend.

    Cat2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Claire and Steve have created a beautiful home away from home. We were there in winter and enjoyed the cosiness of the wood burning stove and the comfortable bed. We cooked nice meals for ourselves - the gas stove was great and we let the peace and quiet soothe us. Lovely part of the world for walks in the Mournes and on the coast. Also wonderful to be off-grid and heated by solar panels and the stove. The cottage has been lovingly constructed with gorgeous wooden worktops and sills and reclaimed rural architecture. Highly recommended!

  • This is one of my favorite new spots. My wife and I couldn’t have settled into Ireland the same way had we not stayed here. Claire suggested so many great things and we ended up doing them all. Just a quick 40 minute drive to Belfast, and an hour from Dublin. You can make this your home base to see some of the best parts of Ireland. Do not hesitate, book this place before I can again!

    Joel2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely, I really thanks Claire for this expérience ! I recommand!

Acton Village is a beautifully quiet place. 10 min's to Banbridge /Newry. Banbridge has loads of restaurants/bars, as for shops there's the Outlet which has such stores as Nike. Belfast is 30min and includes attractions such as the Titanic Quarter and the famous Crumlin Rd Gaol. children under 12 are free, do not list children as guests, please message confirming the total
The cottage has a generous kitchen and dining room. 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. it has been extended to the back which has doubled the size of the living space. The property has oak flooring throughout and really gives the feel of a country cottage, the house has a history that dares back to the 18th Century The living room is perfect for sitting with friends and has ample space to enjoy, or just relax with a book and enjoy the unspoiled view of the lake and surrounding countryside. There is parking for 2 cars off street. There is a gorgeous suntrap to the back of the house which is ideal for enjoying BBQ. Or relaxing when the sun is shining. We have superfast WiFi for those who need it, and a superb satellite TV package if you feel like taking in a movie. • Fantastic home, we absolutely loved our stay here over Christmas and new year as we had so much room and had everything we needed. Very comfy and a place to really feel relaxed. The kids were entertained with the PlayStation and access to Netflix. The all important wifi connection was great and there are lovely walks nearby. Stella was very accommodating, helping us out with a DVD player and putting up Xmas tree. The washing machine was very useful for our family having a young baby with us and despite the house being so large we were able to keep it warm in some very cold weather. Would highly recommend.

Neu Lyf B&B is less than 10 minutes' walk from town, but has a lovely view of the mountains by day, and the city lights by night. There are several parks and a shop only a couple of minutes' walk away. I have two* peaceful double rooms available, with a shared bathroom & living room. I will share the house with guests some of the time, and a friendly cat resides here too, so you'll need to be OK with a little feline friend. * Note: Please click 'Read more' if you would like book both rooms!
*Note: My two rooms must be reserved separately, so if you'd like to book both, please click here for my other listing: www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/28339535 (Hint: Open the above link in a new browser tab!) NeuLyf BnB is peaceful, very central to town and Ireland as a whole! But it has a country feel to it, and a great view of the Mountains of Mourne. Newry is ideally placed almost half way between Belfast and Dublin, so it's a great place to stop if you are travelling around the island. Ultimately, I plan to offer mini retreats, so if you'd like to book a hypnotherapy or life- or nutrition-coaching session while you're here, please let me know. You'll leave a different person!
There are small children in the neighbourhood, so it's important to be fairly quiet after about 9 pm, and look out for little people playing in the car park when driving. St. Patrick's Church of Ireland is just across the street, and is consdered to be the oldest post-reformation protestant church in all Ireland. Its steeple features in a Jonathan Swift poem. Irish nationalist activist and writer, John Mitchell, is buried in a graveyard near the house, as is the victim of the last person to be hanged in Northern Ireland. Grim, but true! On a more mundane but useful note, there are two corner shops and three grassy parks within a few minutes' walk of the house, and a Lidl and 24-hour Tesco supermarket a few minutes' drive away. The town centre (with its bus station, shops, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, library, tourist information centres, etc.) is within 10 minutes' walk of the house. In spite of its closeness to so many amenities, it doesn't feel like you're so near the centre of town, and there is a lovely view of the Mourne Mountains.
  • Very helpful host, nice space, not far from town

Suitable for short term rentals this light and airy single room is located on the ground floor of a modern townhouse in a quiet residential area and has French windows leading to a secluded patio and garden. The room has a private bathroom with shower adjacent to the bedroom and there is private parking to the front of the property. Due to its close proximity to the town centre and the A1 carriageway it provides easy access to Belfast, Dublin and Newry and three international airports.
My property is conveniently located in a quiet development a few minutes from the town centre and in close proximity to shops, cafes and bus routes with private parking. Banbridge is a town located close to the A1 with direct links to both Dublin and Belfast and easy access to 3 airports, Belfast International, Belfast City and Dublin. The beautiful County Down coastline with its stunning scenery including the lovely seaside town of Newcastle where the famous 'Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea' is about 30 minutes drive. With the combination of the beautiful scenery and the proximity to the city this is the ideal location for either a short break or for someone wishing to commute to Belfast, Newry or Dublin. A discount would apply for longer term bookings. The room has French windows which open directly onto the private sunny patio so guests can enjoy their morning cuppa or just relax. Tea and coffee facilities provided in room as well as a bottle of water.
The property is located in a quiet development - a few minutes walk from the river and also the town centre.
  • The accommodations and hospitality were the best I have experienced at an Airbnb. When my cousin and I arrived mid-afternoon, Anne had tea, hot scones, and shortbread ready for us. The breakfast every morning was delightful. My room on the ground floor was bright, airy, and clean , as shown in the Airbnb post. Her references for where to go eat, what to see, and how to get there were extremely helpful. The rooms were cleaned every day. She would make us tea in the evening. I wouldn’t hesitate staying there again.

A peaceful little haven tucked away in a private property. Nature lovers will appreciate a beautiful year round garden. Local restaurants and nightlife are a 10 minute walk. Its perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. NB the property has steps to the entrance so is not accessible to people with mobility issues. There is a very loveable Labrador dog called Buddy on the grounds connected to the property that will bare his teeth ... But only to smile!
A self contained studio with separate kitchen and shower room. The living sleeping area is comfortable and fresh with dual aspect Windows whilst remaining totally private and peaceful. The studio has 2 private entrances to kitchen an living area and overlooks a pretty well kept garden area which guests are welcome to enjoy!
The area is unique in that it is so close to the city centre yet it borders on the countryside therefore allowing guests to enjoy peaceful surroundings yet enjoy proximity to local amenities. Newry is an ideal base to explore the Mourne mountains and the Ring of Gullion from.

Everything was spotlessly clean and as seen in the photos. Communication with Glenn, access and key return were easy and efficient. I would stay again if in the area and would highly recommend this house.

3 star, self catering accommodation,2 bedroom, sleeps 4. The rathbarn is situated on a small farm, half a mile off the main Newry/Hilltown road (B8) the Mourne inland scenic route in the foothills of the Mourne mountain range. It is 4 miles from Newry, 5 miles to Warrenpoint and 2 miles from the village of Mayobridge. Approximately 1 hour 20 minutes from Dublin airport and 45 to 60 minutes from Belfast airports.
Situated inside an Ancient Rath. This location endeared itself to the first settlers who came to Ireland centuries ago. The area abounds in ancient remains, forts, cashels and raths. Indeed the cottage itself is situated right in the middle of what was once an ancient ring fort with a nearby souterrain, which has never been explored.
A rural setting but with many amenities nearby: Golf is available in nearby Mayobridge and Warrenpoint, Walking/Hiking in the Mournes, swimming pool in Newry, watersports in Warrenpoint, pony trekking in Castlewellan/Mournes area and close to entertainment centers in Newry and Warrenpoint.

Unplug and unwind in our off-grid horsebox here at Lackan Cottage Farm, in the beautiful County Down countryside with great views of the Mourne Mountains. Tucked away in a private corner of our smallholding, this truck - once our home - has been lovingly refurbished with recycled and local materials. A cosy, comfy hideaway you won't want to leave. This is proper off grid life, so NO mains power, NO wifi and an OUTSIDE composting toilet, so not for everyone, but a real escape.
The truck has a well equipped kitchen, full size gas cooker and large dining area with plenty of storage, as well as a wood or gas heated shower. The cosy living room has a woodburning stove, and the box bed looks out of a large circular window with views of the fields and mountains beyond. Please note, in winter, the temperature outside can go as low as minus 9 degrees centrigrade. There are LED lights throughout, powered by solar panels - this is true off-grid living. Even the outdoor compost toilet - a few yards from the truck, had a great view. The truck has 12volt sockets for phone charging, but this is a proper off-grid getaway and you won't find wifi or mains electricity. There is also no fridge, but we provide a cool box which can be plugged into the truck, and ice packs can be changed daily.
We're situated in rural County Down, just a few miles from nearby forest parks, the amazing Mourne Mountains, and of course, the sea. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of our own birch woods, and walk in the gardens. There are also a number of great local walks, one through the Lackan Bog Area of Special Scientific Interest where you will find the highest number of dragonfly species anywhere in Ireland.

There is a ten minute drive to the gorgeous coastal town of Warrenpoint, Rostrevor and Carlingford. The forest park caters for mountain bikes, hiking and kids play.
The house is built overlooking a gorgeous lake and mountains of mourne. The exquisite gardens are matured and well maintained with outside seating areas and walks to the lake just a stone throw away . This is a real hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
Rural green nature retreat is the best way to describe this lovely location.

  • Gerard was a tremendous host and the B&B was fantastic, the room was spotless and really comfortable. Gerard went out of his way to make sure I had eaten each day, even when I got back from work. Was great to have a chat with Gerard at the end of a long day in work and was always made feel welcome and comfortable. Would highly recommend.

  • Great little cottage tucked away in the country. Geraldine was really friendly and helpful and had the stove lit for our arrival with some cookies to indulge in. The photos don’t do the cottage justice.

    James2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Geraldine’s place provides quality accommodation of the highest standard and pristinely clean with stunning views over the countryside from every window and a fabulous secure garden suitable for dog or kids. My border collie loved chasing his ball. Within minutes, you have settled in and are relaxing. Geraldine is so wonderfully welcoming providing helpful tips and local advice. She even left a delicious apple pie! . I would love to return and have already told a friend about it. Thank you.

    Karen2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautifull place to stay for New Years Eve. Stove blazing away and a beautiful Christmas tree greeted us upon arrival. Geraldine was and is a wonderful host and had left us a fresh apple pie and drinks for us to enjoy. The house is fantastic and it's something special to behold. Warm snug, great Wi-Fi and satellite tv too. Peacefull and hilly countryside but with some lovely and lively villages a few kilometres away. Great food in Rostrevor and then the beautifull drives along the coastline and up into the mountains too. We will be back for sure.

  • Best accodomation ever. And Geraldine was so nice! Beautiful. This is the perfect airbnb, you will feel like you're at home.

  • If you are looking for an exceptional place to stay with a great host I highly recommend this place to stay. There is nothing you could want for. Geraldine is an excellent host and was extremely helpful to ensure we had a great stay.

    Peter2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • However good the accommodation looks in the pictures, this is one of those rare occasions that everything upon arrival is just so much better. Also, the apple pie upon arrival is spectacularly good :)

  • This is a beautiful house in a beautiful area. The house had everything you could need, was clean, spacious and stylish. We loved it. There is so much to do in the area if you're outdoorsy- including activities for kids. (The house even had donkeys to pet - which my daughter loved). I would definitely recommend this house.

A quiet and comfortable apartment in the centre of Newry which has been recently refurbished to the highest of standards. Close proximity to Tesco supermarket, bars, shops and main transport links. Access to wifi, Sky TV and modern conveniences and a host who can provide any further support and advice on the local area. For explorers, you are close to the Newry Canal Towpath, Slieve Gullion and Bagenal's Castle! Guests will be greeted on arrival by Maureen or Terry to make sure you have everything you need.
Quiet - but walking distance to city centre and very close to local amenities and transport links.
  • I normally write long and thorough reviews but all I can really say is that it's a great house. It's exactly like the pictures. We only stayed there for one night and arrived really late so I can't say a lot about the kitchen but the shower was great! The apartment is literally around the corner of a 24 hour Tesco's and the path is lit so you'll feel really safe. We didn't meet Maureen but she replied very quickly to a question I had and seems very lovely.

    Regina2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Location was great for our needs. Apartment was clean and located next to a supermarket.

    Kathleen2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent cot and high chair for baby, plenty space in living room and everything you’d need in a holiday flat in the kids then and bathroom. The lock key system meant easy access too. Thanks for all your prompt replies, Maureen

    Barry2019-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen’s place was such a great stay! It is literally right next door to a 24 hour Tesco and I can’t say enough how convenient that was for our group of travelers! Also just down the road we found some awesome restaurants. Maureen’s place was very clean and offered everything we needed, including ideas for what to see in the area. Loved staying here! Thanks Maureen for the quick responses and for having a place we’d stay at again!

    Jen2019-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great value accommodation, in walking distance to all bars/restaurants, with the added bonus of a 24 hour Tesco on site. The apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean, with ample parking off road. I'd highly recommend for either a shopping sphere or night out in Newry.

The 'Shepherd's Hut' is a special addition to our range of unique accommodation at Tepee Valley. It has been lovingly and authentically built by ourselves and designed with couples in mind.
Inside you will find a double bed with a proper deep mattress and a little single bed up above (sleeps 2 adults and 1 child). There is a hand -crafted wardrobe and dresser with shelving above for all the cups, plates, cutlery, saucepans and items to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This time we have provided a small, but brilliantly crafted, Windy Smithy stove with oven so that you can slow down and learn to really get back to basics by boiling the kettle for tea, cooking the shepherds pie for dinner or boiling the eggs for breakfast. There is no running water inside or sink so after you have fetched the water and lit the stove, you have time to admire the views over the valley. The bigger challenge will be to go 'off grid' altogether, switch off the phone and light the candles, read or relax. Outside, as you take in the view from the steps, there is a small seating area with table and chairs and a fire bowl to provide warmth late into the evenings. A charcoal BBQ is provided and some logs/lighters for the fire bowl to get you started. If you want to cook over the fire pit outside, there is a dutch oven, skillet and frying pan provided. We have provided a covered outdoor sink near by, a kitchen cabin with gas cooker and fridge and a shower and toilet a few metres across the site. Please remember to bring your wellies and torch for that night time trip across the site. You will need to bring your own bed linen (duvet, pillows), and some extra logs/firelighters and charcoal if you want to use the BBQ.
We are in the middle of farming countryside with views down to the Cusher River and across to Slieve Gullion in the distance. We are surrounded by farmland (cows, sheep and arable land) and have some small animals on site.

*Note: My two rooms must be reserved separately, so if you'd like to book both, please click here for my other listing: www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/28340109 (Hint: Open the above link in a new browser tab!) NeuLyf BnB is peaceful, very central to town and Ireland as a whole!
  • My partner and I stayed at Bruce’s while visiting family. We had a nice stay! The house is warm, the shower is lovely and it’s very very clean and organised. Rocky the cat is lovely, and if you are not a cat person he’s not allowed into the rooms so don’t worry! We would stay here again.

  • Very easy check in and good communication. Stunning peaceful location and the cottage is just beautiful. Very family friendly with lovely enclosed garden and plenty of space for parking.

    Gemma2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Meta's cottage is beautiful. It was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well equipped (but we didn't get to do any cooking). Bed was comfortable. Shower, heating and WIFI worked great. There were instructions for everything in the house and also flyers with information of what to do in the area. We stayed there for two nights while hiking around Mourne Mountains. We didn't get to meet the host in person, but communication was prompt. I'd highly recommend Meta's cottage if planning some time in the Mourne Mountains or if you fancy some quiet time in the countryside.

    Neida2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Meta's cottage exceeded our expectations! Everything was perfect and our kids and us enjoyed every minute in this place. The location is just beautiful, you are sourrounded by green fields with a view to the Mourne Mountains, yet you are not far out. You have your own well kept little garden where our kids loved to play. The cottage was sparkling clean, nice new countrystyle furniture, very well equipped. We got welcomed with a basket of crisps and cookies and a ready to go fireplace. There was enough wood available for our stay. Communication with Meta was easy and fast! Can highly recommend Meta's cottage, we would be happy to come back!

    Katharina2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you like the pictures of Meta's cottage, you will like the real thing even more. We arrived quite late, it was already pitch dark, but from the moment we crossed the doorstep we immediately loved the place. With many thoughtful touches, like the fireplace ready to go, through small welcome snacks, through everything else that you might need for a stay. Meta also left information regarding anything you might need to know about the house, and with the initial message exchange regarding check-in, we didn't really need anything else. The area is really quiet, and it's absolutely stunning especially on a bright cold morning with a nice hot cup of coffee. All in all, if a relaxing getaway is what you are after, you can't go wrong booking Meta's cottage.

    Peter2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Meta's cottage is a wonderfull, cozy place in a beautiful surrounding. Very quiet, clean and well equiped. We enjoyed the evenings around the stove. There's enough wood. Meta is very thoughtful in organising the place. We were often surprised to find the things we needed, like cookies at our arrival, extra tissues, a blanket on the sofa, a prepared stove... We didnt meet Meta but she s present by email and phone and she very friendly. I was here with my three daughters. The place is also suitable for four adults. In the surroundings are many things to see and do. We could have stayed longer and i wish to come again one day.

    Cin2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this cottage for colleagues who were working nearby and received very good feedback from them. They thought the place was really quirky and beautiful and would indeed recommend it to others.

  • Lovely, cosy cottage and so peaceful. Beautiful views. We were visiting family so didn't spend as much time as we could have done to really appreciate the area and comfort of the cottage. Well equipped and welcoming. Meta's communication was always prompt and helpful. Thoroughly recommend.
