  • Great getaway for a weekend with friends. Loved the outdoor space and proximity to the river: truly unbeatable views. Only thing to note is that there aren’t any doors on the bedrooms.

  • Our stay at Ashley’s cabin was a lovely experience for me, my husband and dog! The secluded and serene location was perfect for a nice relaxing getaway. The river fulfilled all my husbands fishing goals for our trip. The one and only thing I would change about the cabin is the view from the deck of the river is a little obstructed with shrubbery. It would really open up the view if it was cleared out a bit. Ashley was accommodating and checked in to make sure our trip was going well, she even checked to make sure we were ok after a big storm! I would love to stay here again in the future!

  • A cute cabin next to the Kennebec River. If you are looking for a place to disconnect from electronics yet be close to sites and restaurants, this is the place to be. The view of the river in the morning on the deck or in the evening by the fire pit are picturesque!!

    Gina2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A magical spot! The location is beautiful, and the cabin is cozy. We did have problems with heat & hot water (due to electric utility work--not under the control of our hosts), but our hosts responded very quickly. If you can tolerate a few quirks with the building and are not afraid of lighting an old gas range, it's a lovely place to spend some quiet days, watching the geese, marvelling at the leaves turning almost before your eyes, taking advantage of the cozy but well-equipped kitchen, and perusing the amply-stocked bookshelves.

    Denise2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley’s cabin was THE picturesque Maine experience! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience all Maine has to offer in the coziest setting!

    Amber2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Well worth the $ and would likely return. No frills and no TV or wifi etc. Just a wonderful place to escape the world and get back to nature. Total seclusion and wonderful place if traveling with a pet. My dog loved the river and huge property to run and play. Would definately recommend this cabin and Ashley was a great host.

    Karen2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Sacred River Cabin was excellent. It’s a huge amount of incredibly private space - excellent for relaxation and fun on the water. Can’t say enough good things about this place, our dogs wish they could stay forever.

    Tom2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The location is superb, quiet and secluded along a river. The cabin is rustic and comfortable with a great grill and deck, the bed on the closed in porch is lovely. We had a great time visiting with our dog. Ashley was easy to communicate with, we’d definitely go again.

  • Wonderful place

  • I’m not sure words do justice to how nice this location is. I selected it due to its perfect location (the perfect spot for the night before Acadia), and its amazing price. When arriving, I was relieved at the ease of check in and condition of the house, absolutely immaculate. The room had every single thing we needed and more, including bathrobes! The bed was comfortable and the view from the porch was incredible. We are already planning our way back north again, however plan on staying in Hallowell for the entire stay for we never even got to try out kayaking and bike riding in the area, or to explore all of the small shops that it has to offer! Thank you so much for everything, we will be back soon!

  • Secure, cozy room in a tidy old house in a town I’ve never heard of. Sounded great and it was indeed great. Try it out

  • The room had anything you might imagine needing. Andrea was quick to respond to questions as well!

    Michael2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea's place is lovely! I stayed there as a quick layover on a trip en route to Canada, and it was just what I needed. I'd love to return in the future for a longer stay. Andrea's kindness and hospitality are noteworthy!

    Kerry2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • My bed was so comfortable! I arrived late and left early, so I didn’t actually get to meet Andrea. But I felt so welcomed by the extra touches that went above and beyond what I expected...the water filter, coffee, chocolate and so much more! Thanks again Andrea!

    Mary2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time, the accommodations were excellently maintained and made our trip perfect.

    Alexander2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea’s place is TOP NOTCH!! Beautiful home, great location, amazing amenities. Cleanliness is a big deal for me so I was a little worried but from the moment I walked through the door I had to take off my shoes (just like home!) my room was spotless and Andrea was cleaning the common areas ALL the time. She was super friendly, full of recommendations but also was very respectful of personal space and my need for alone time. I could write an entire page of how lovely this home and Andrea were, I definitely will be returning!!

The Hallowell Historic Rooming House is a newly renovated house that was built in the 1820s by a philanthropist and abolitionist. There is a granite tunnel that leads from the house to the river. The third floor was used as a dormitory possibly for freedom seekers. It is a post and beam house where all of the beams have been exposed. The house is designed for long term accommodations. There is a lot to do in Hallowell. We have a live theater, live music, many different restaurants and shops. Vaughn Woods is nearby with walking trails. The Kennebec River Rail Trail goes through Hallowell. The Kennebec River is a great place to kayak and see bald eagles soaring and sturgeon jumping.
  • Andrea was great with communication. He made sure I reach his place without any hiccups.

    Kiran2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea has great attention to detail and goes out of the way to make sure that you have everything you need. The amount of amenities provided coupled with the low cost create substantial value. I will go out of my way to stay here again if available in the future.

  • Room E is cozy, but has everything you need for an easy overnight. TV, Desk, Comfortable armchair and bed, you feel like you're getting a lot out of this private space than just a bed. Also, Andrea left thoughtful touches like a chocolate by the bed and a glass of wine for me.

Separate entrance and self check-in for social distancing. Funky waterfront retreat in the pine canopy with private full bath with hot shower, use of canoe, grounds, dock, decks, outdoor chairs, and hammock. Woodsy and a somewhat secluded location, yet convenient to Augusta off Route 17. Ideal location for a stop going to or from Acadia National Park or the Common Ground Fair. Enjoy a campfire in the evening. Host lives on site if you need anything.
The waterfront is Togus Pond, also known as Worromontogus Lake. Spacious queen suite in the pine canopy with gorgeous views of the water and use of canoe. Completely separate from the downstairs where the caretaker lives. The stairway to the upstairs is long at 16 steps. It is not for the faint of heart: not suitable for those who have trouble climbing stairs, are afraid of heights, or children. But the reward is being in the tree canopy with gorgeous views of the water. Your experience is best described by Katy, our 2016 caretaker: Nestled down a trail of soft pine needles and surrounded by evergreen trees, lies a place in the minds of many passer byers. Most have spent one night here, sometimes two. It has been a certain reprieve for all who enter. Each life greeted with warm hospitality and offered a sit on the deck overlooking the last rays of the sun hitting the pond below. A welcomed sit it is for folks, as they have tired from their travels. Many have seen some spectacular sights along their journeys here, yet this quiet little abode with the swinging pendulum of hemlock limbs, lulls them to a peaceful state away from the noises of the world. Gazing at the waters, tensions lift and faces soften. Contemplation of this place and perhaps even their lives lay in the silence. Upon entering their room, they all smile widely. They climb the outdoor stairs and “Ooooh”s can be heard as they express their initial reactions to the panoramic window views of the embracing pines. There are many different types of people that come here. Couples looking to get away from city life. Friends on excursions. Folks heading to the local fairs. Even the occasional business man needing a place to lay his head. Peoples from all over the world—Germany, France, Australia, China. Almost all have been or are going to incredible Acadia National Park.
Nice and quiet unpaved road with a low speed limit of 15 mph. Property is set back from road, right on the water. Curved driveway means you cannot see the road. Woodsy and secluded, yet convenient to Augusta. All other homes on the road are year-round residences.
  • Great stay and great value :)

  • This air bnb was fantastic. My boyfriend and I had everything that we needed during our stay. Additionally, Ren surprised us wine and chocolate for Valentine’s Day weekend. That was incredibly sweet and thoughtful of her. My only complaint is that we didn’t stay long enough. Can’t wait to come back next year!

This 1-2 person cabin is cozy, simple, and quiet, which makes it a perfect place to getaway and enjoy one of Maine's most incredible lakes! It can hold more guests if you provide your own air mattress and/or tent. Use of kayaks, paddle boards, fire pit, gas grill, and dock slip for your own boat included.
Our cabin has everything you need for the perfect getaway, whether that be two nights or two weeks. We provide you with linens, a stocked kitchen (cookware, utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, etc), a full size refrigerator, microwave, electric convection hot plate, a coffee maker (coffee K cups & tea included), wifi, smart Tv, propane grill, fire pit (with wood provided), and more! We also have kayaks and paddle boards available for use FREE of charge! We want our space to be a place where you can get away, feel at home, and be worry free so you can truly relax while you're staying with us.
Our cabin is located on a small peninsula of a very beautiful Maine Lake (Cobbosseecontee). The road is an association in which most of the cabins are occupied by the owners and their families, which keep things relatively quiet. Our property has a shallow waterfront area for swimming and a dock to tie a boat up to. The sounds of the loons singing on the lake at night will be a peaceful moment you will never forget! (Currently however, the property behind ours was purchased and a home is being built. This means there will be construction during the work week until the home is complete).
  • This place is quaint and very minimalist. It truly was the perfect spot for me and my boyfriends weekend get away. The lake is beautiful and we are hoping to come back in the warmer months to really enjoy the water. I’d recommend it for any couple who loves the great outdoors and doesn’t mind maine cabin living!

    Caroline2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here for a weekend for our honeymoon and everything was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed thoughtful touches like maine-made local products and wine. The location of the cabin is beautiful and would love to come back during the summertime when we could enjoy the amenities of the lake a little more.

    Faith2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the cosy cabin, and it was absolutely that. We stayed late September into early October, and it was chilly at night, but warmed up in the mornings once we turned the small heater on. It's amazing how quiet the place was - even in spite of the building work happening behind it. We made use of the kayaks and were surprised by the fact we had the lake to ourselves, and it that the water had retained some of the summer warmth in the shallower parts! We made use of the convection hob, microwave and BBQ and all worked perfectly. There was firewood if we'd wanted to have a bonfire, but the beautiful Maine thunder storm took hold of the night, so we didn't end up using it. The cabin is a wonderful getaway for two people, we felt so lucky to be staying there!

  • Such a wonderful place to stay. Highly redommend.

    Jesse2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and peaceful. Build a campfire at night and listen to the loons in the morning.

    Steve2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This quaint cabin is the best we've spent time in for a while. It's calm and quiet, away from town. The amenities we're amazing. Between the kayaks, and paddleboards, to the firepit with wood avaliable. I would definitely return next time we head out to Maine.

Use the kayak trailer to walk the free kayaks down to the boat landing. The Kennebec River is like paddling on a long lake. Or use the free bicycles to cycle down the Kennebec River Rail Trail. At the end of the day relax in the hot tub or sauna. Or you can use the full gym which has weights and several aerobic machines
The apt is decorated with LL Bean furniture and has a wood stove.
The apt is located in a residential area just two blocks from downtown Hallowell.
  • Andrea’s place is very clean. We had a great time enjoying the local antique shops and restaurants all in walking distance. Andrea provided everything we needed for our relaxing stay.

  • Andrea’s place is a true home away from home. Cozy, romantic, very clean and great communication with the host. It comes with free parking and the Hallowell area has plenty to offer and explore. We found a touch of magic here, thank you so much xxx Would highly recommend it to anyone!

  • Andrea’s place is a true gem! Cozy, romantic, clean and very good and quick communication with host. We booked for just one night, but after basically setting one foot over the threshold we immediately booked another night! This house provides a home away from home. Comes with a parking space as well. We really, really loved it!

    Lisa2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea's property is really lovely. The decor is cosy with great style. The view of the river from the back deck is a treat. Andrea accommodated us at short notice and the kitchen was well stocked with useful ameneties. Hallowell is a charming little town and I particularly recommend Scrummy Afters sweet shop and Granite City Park along the riverbank.

  • The apartment is cute. Bed was super comfy and relaxing. The appliances are newer so no problems with those. It was very nice staying there and wouldn't mind staying again.

If you are interested in rustic camping but are done with sleeping in a tent, and want to experience Maine on the cheap, this electrified space has housed many a guest over the years. It is an unfinished but cozy 1.5 story loft over a garage. There is no running water and it is NOT suitable for small children due to ladder access to sleeping loft and high deck. There is a camp toilet which is the responsibility of the guest to empty and rinse daily if used. Wifi inside or yard depending.
This space is not for the faint of heart, the ladder is steep and not safe for someone over 200 pounds. There is a small cot and couch on main floor if needed. There is a hotplate, microwave, toaster oven, 2 cup coffee maker, radio, ceiling fan, queen sized mattress and boxspring, and plenty of outlets. A handyperson could get a long term deal on this property if they were willing to put in finishing work. Water is available at the hose. This space is only available during the summer and early fall due to lack of heat and insulation. The whole property is full of paths and is situated on 5 acres of land.
This is a quiet neighborhood on a state route. Backroads lead to the mountains, main roads lead to the coast. We are 1 mile from the public beach. There are biking trails and Mt. Pisgah is a short ride away.
  • This place is super bad ass love it second stay for me

  • For the free-spirited, money conscious traveler! Perhaps one of the most memorable and fun places I’ve stayed. Certainly not for the faint of heart... but if it looks intriguing, go for it and be ready for a memory that’ll last a lifetime. LOVED staying here.

  • It is what it is, much better than camping but not glamping as described! Definitely good fun, thanks for having me Elizabeth.

    Philip2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth’s place was a great if you’re looking to stay at a place that’s between camping and glamping. When walking in, the radio was playing and the musical instruments were a very nice touch! The bed that’s up on the loft is comfortable, and I slept well. I didn’t use the appliance though. Elizabeth was really friendly and even offered fresh peaches. Thanks!

This is a quaint farm house in a rural setting but not far from many attractions in the mid coast area. It's comfortable, warm, cozy and quiet. There's a lot of wildlife here. I'm very close to Wiscasset, Damariscotta Lake State Park and Damariscotta village. There are some great restaurants and pubs a short drive away. Pemaquid Point and lighthouse on the ocean is a beautiful drive from here as is Rockland, Camden & Augusta. It's a good mid coast location.
My house is in a quiet country setting. It is, however, located mid-coast with access to shopping, restaurants and water access near by. There is a public boat launch that some of my guests have used to go kayaking and canoeing on the Lake Damariscotta. A beautiful clean lake and river close by. Another boat launch is into the Damariscotta River in the village of Damarisscotta. There are farms nearby and views of the lake. This is a very scenic area of Maine. I have also had some people biking through the area in the summer and spring. There are many hiking trails nearby and a short drive away there are hikes along the water.
  • Margaret is the perfect hostess. Her quiet house in a beautiful setting in the Maine woods is cozy, sparkling clean, full of light and thoughtfully appointed. I will go there again in a heartbeat.

    Andres2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret is such a wonderful host. She communicates clearly where her home is located. Her house is warm, comfortable and just always feels like home. When the need arises we will always stay with Margaret!

    Catherine2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • You will be very welcomed at Margaret's home. She is very kind and helpful. You will have a good and quiet sleep at her house.

    Sheila2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jefferson is a charming town and the drive to Margaret's place includes breathtaking views of Damariscotta Lake. You drive up, along Rte. 213, to the top of Bunker Hill and the town's historic buildings, then down about a mile or so to Margaret's place, an early-1800s Cape. Margaret is charming and gracious, a perfect host who provides a wonderful breakfast...starting with the smell of bacon cooked on a wood stove. Genevieve F.

    Genevieve2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • I am a really lucky man. This was my first time to stay on Airbnb. I have gotten from her, such as her warm welcome, having an attentive heart, clean rooms, smart use of color that I love for her whole house, an unforgettable taste of English tea and breakfast, AND her natural personality... I'll definitely be back there. Thanks again, Margaret.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at Margaret's home. She took me on a very short notice for a business trip I was on. She made me feel extremely welcomed from the very beginning. She even sent me off in the morning with a warm bowl of oatmeal. Thanks for your kindness! I would definitely welcome another chance to stay with her. She is a great host.

  • Charming home, cozy room with wonderful heater. Very close to coastal hotspots and easy access to I 95 . Sylvia is arguably the most charming host and makes a breakfast that is worthy of visiting for its own sake. Strongly recommend.

    Paul2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a remarkable airbnb-- outstanding for its service, especially for the economical price. It is a small room in a small house, so you need to be comfortable with the comings and goings of the small family and the two big friendly dogs...or if you wish to spend a lot of alone time in your cozy room with heater, Sylvia will respect that as well. The really outstanding part of it is your hostess sylvia, who is more sensitive and attentive to the needs of her guests than practically any airbnb hostess I've seen. She is a native French canadian, speaks fluent french and italian and english,

    Larry2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sylvia's place is tucked in among the trees in the countryside just north of Augusta. Thank you Sylvia for being a very welcoming host.

  • Sylvia is a very nice host. We had some funny talks and shared our travelling experiences. The room is spacious and homey. The heater is pretty strong and hot. The only thing is the address that means you need to focus on the road and carefully see the intersection. Very easy to drive over the place. Anyway, five stars. Highly recommend!

Experience the airiness of life up among the pines in Georgetown, ME. Unique structures perched atop 21-acre wooded hill sloping to water views. Set in classic coastal Maine village w/ Reid State Park beaches and famed Five Islands Lobster Co. River views from the King size bed, through wall of windows. 3 Day min stay (but if you see a 2 day opening between other bookings, drop us a note - you'll have to select a random 3 days to contact us. ) 2br also available (see my other listings).
We invite you to this custom built tree dwelling. This abode is called "Madawaska", which means "where two rivers join". Part tree house, part tiny house, the dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a private deck (on posts with trees growing up through) and WOOD FIRED CEDAR HOT TUB. Structures are accessed by a SPIRAL STAIRCASE. We've used vintage and salvaged materials when possible. STRUCTURE #1: a bedroom, with an entire wall of south facing windows, affording stunning river views. Includes KING SIZE BED (or two twin beds upon request). STRUCTURE #2: includes a small kitchen and small dining area with large windows for water views, a small full bathroom, and a screened-in porch with sitting area, and river views. Kitchen includes: two-burner stove, sink, small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, toaster oven (no regular oven). Both structures have views across a river bay, and down river to where the Back River meets the Kennebec River (hence "Madawaska") just before both flow into open ocean, past Seguin Island (where George Washington commissioned a lighthouse). PLEASE NOTE: as much as we love pets we have a strict no-pet policy in our dwellings! AUTUMN VISITS: Come stay in the tree dwelling in Autumn for stunning views of foliage and crisp walks along the marsh back to the tree dwelling to warm up in the cedar hot tub. The dwelling is well insulated and warms up quickly with our top quality wall mounted heating units. THE VIEWS: Gorgeous views down the Back River, and across the river lie hundreds of acres of pristine conservation land. Part of the year, this tree dwelling will be used for the Seguin Artist in Residence Program at the Back River Institute, which is under development. Use of KAYAK's and CANOE's are included with rental and available at anytime during your stay NOTE: We also have a brand new tree dwelling with a wood fired cedar hot tub and a second bedroom, which can be converted into a living room space upon request.
We are located in the picturesque coastal village of Georgetown, Maine (which includes Five Islands). Reid State Park, with its beautiful, sandy beaches and hiking trails, is just a few miles from us, further into Georgetown. Be sure to visit the Five Islands Lobster Co. for best lobsters, lobster rolls, fish sandwiches, corn on the cob--and harbor views. Five Islands Farm and Gourmet Market is an excellent source of fine wine, beers, local produce, meats, cheeses, gifts. We are a ten minute drive from the town of Bath Maine, which has a great coffee shop (Cafe Creme), bookstore (the Mustard Seed), deli (the Living Edge), grocery store (Bracket's Market), health food store (Bath Natural Market), great yoga studio (Ebb and Flow), BBQ (Beale St. BBQ), fine dining (Salt Pine Social), Maine Maritime Museum, and locally famous Reny's! We are 20 minutes from Brunswick with Bowdoin College, Sea Dog Brewery, Gelato Fiasco!, coffee shops, great restaurants and bar/restaurant/hangout (Frontier), indie movie theatre with couches (The Starlight). We are 30 minutes from Freeport, for original L.L. Bean store and outlets. We are 45 minutes from Portland, with its exploding, world-class restaurant/foodie scene.
  • After seeing the tree dwellings online I knew I just had to stay there. The view certainly did not disappoint. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax in the trees. The first night it rained all night and the sound of the rain hitting the roof was perfect. I slept like a baby. If you are looking for a place to stay look no further and make sure to book if you see an opening. Communication was a breeze and responses for always quick. Will definitely stay again if In the area.

  • We stayed for three nights in this amazing tree dwelling! Perfect views, super comfortable bed and everything we needed to make our first stay in Maine the best! Thank you for having us Marsha! I am very sure that we will be back!

    Claire2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was truly a pleasure celebrating our October anniversary perched up among the trees in this cozy Marsha’s cozy tree house. We enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom overlooking, forest, salt marsh and water. It felt very private and we even left our curtains open bathed in the full moonlight. We appreciated that the kitchen and bathroom were in a separate space from the bedroom (bring slippers). The petite kitchen has a hot plate and dining table if you want to eat in. To my husbands relief, we found a coffee maker! The water was nice and hot and good pressure. The owners chose Tea Tree Oil shampoo and conditioner and. Dr. Bronner’s body wash for the shower…perfect for the tree house. We also noted a hair dryer under the sink. One of our favorite things about the tree house was the screened in porch where we had coffee in the morning and late night talks in the evening overlooking the forest. We sat with candlelight in the Adirondack chairs listening to only the sounds of nature. Marsha was kind enough to leave a pass for Reid State Park and we enjoyed walking the beach and paths and climbing the rocks. We spent time in Bath exploring the books stores and coffee shop and restaurants. Per Marsha’s suggestion, we made our way to Waldoboro to visit the Morse's Sour Kraut Market & Deli which was amazing. Overall, We had a wonderful stay at the Madawaska Tree House and we appreciated all the design details. Thanks to Marsha for a great stay.

  • Our second time this year! We love the setting and the area. Discovered some more hiking nearby and enjoyed time in Bath, Brunswick and Wiscasset. Can’t recommend this enough even if it means more competition for bookings!

    Pierre2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great getaway from my husband and I! Everything was wonderful and the tree house is great! Far enough away from things so you can enjoy the quietness, but can easily drive into town for a bite to eat. Just a suggestion for people who do stay here, is the bathroom is not in the same building as the bedroom so in the middle of the night, you have to leave the bedroom and go outside and go into the other building for the bathroom. So just make sure you have slippers or something to be able to walk in the middle of the night. But we will definitely be back!

Antique cape farmhouse 2'nd floor bedroom with full size bed. Short walk to the Barn at Silver Oaks down the street. There is a photo, but because people don't look, there are 4 cats! Located on 5 acres of land, 1 mi from downtown, public beach on Maranacook Lake and Norcross Point (free concerts held every Sunday July-August) 10 miles from Augusta, 1 hour drive to Reid State Park on Atlantic Ocean. Free range chickens and geese. Abundance of wildlife. Maine living.
For now this is just a bedroom available, but by next fall I am hoping to have the entire 2'nd floor available for air BnB. This is a NON SMOKING apartment. Cigarette smoking must be done at least 50 feet from entrance of home, and filters put in designated containers due to free range chickens. There are cats and a dog on the property, so if you have allergies probably not a good fit. However, there are no inlaid carpets; pine floors abound. Clean and mellow owner on site and shares apartment with guest during stay. Cooking facilities and all cooking items available. There is a public laundromat about 1.5 miles from home.
My neighborhood is located on a state route, but it is a quiet neighborhood and most of us keep to ourselves. I have 5 private acres that have paths to walk and gardens to enjoy, as well as wild edibles for your enjoyment. Lots of wild birds, including turkeys, as well.
  • Wonderful place to stay!

  • We had a wonderful stay at this B&B. You can expect comfortable rooms and bedding, a beautiful location, numerous amenities such as coffee and tea service round the clock, baked goodies, sauna and hot tub, and extremely gracious hosts. The farm is close enough to town to enjoy dinner out and several places have live music. We also hiked around nearby Jamie’s pond which was beautiful.

    Susan2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a fun place to visit for a getaway for my husband and I! We loved the local area, and especially the quiet of the AirBnB location! Nothing but the sound of the birds and wind! There were so many special touches all over the place, you could tell they had spent lots of time considering everything to make your stay as wonderful as possible! We LOVED the sauna and hot tub! But my favorite part of staying here was that it was a very scent-neutral space...everything, from linens to the air) smelled fresh and clean but without perfumes or artificial scents!!

    Mary2019-06-17T00:00:00Z

  • This home was quaint, private, comfortable, and perfect for a small family. Dan made us feel welcome by decorating with a bouquet of flowers and bagels and cream cheese in the fridge. He was readily available when needed, and very personable. We couldn’t have chosen a better host and home to live in temporarily. With Dan lending us his home, it allowed us to find our forever home, and buy us time. I couldn’t thank him enough for allowing us to stay there, and offering a safe and comfortable home. While we did not get to go ice fishing, we did get to view the lake turn to a deep freeze, and see families pile on the lake to fish. The sounds the lake makes as it turns to ice is amazing. Something I’ve never heard before: The experience is something to remember. Thanks again for everything!

  • Very tidy and lovely AirBnb house equipped with everything you need. A comfy bed and nice living area. Waking up to the view of the lake was beautiful and worth it. Dan is a great host and was very responsive We had a great stay!

  • The place was so nice and unique. The view was fantastic! Definitely will recommend to others.

  • A group of four of us stayed here for the weekend and it was the perfect space for two nights away. Such a pretty view out the master bedroom and the house has to coolest decorations. Dan left us some bagels and cream cheese for breakfast.. such a thoughtful touch! Definitely would recommend this place for a weekend away and we’d absolutely stay here again if we’re back in the area.

  • Cute getaway with great views overlooking the lake. Close to Lewiston and Auburn and not too far from Freeport. Great lake with plenty of room to explore.

    Kevin2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Dan's house is cozy, clean and personal. Right by the lake, and complete with a fire pit this was the ultimate Maine gettaway. I truly feel like I found a gem in this space.

Our home is a few minutes' drive from downtown Hallowell, which offers many restaurants and a bustling nightlife. We are also located near a rail trail entrance, which is a charming way to walk, run, or pedal your way downtown. In the warmer months, cool off in our large in-ground swimming pool. We welcome travelers of all kinds, but our cat prefers the bipedal variety (no dogs).
Our home is large and full of character. Built around 1900, it is a unique and beautiful space which we are happy to share with guests. This is a home, not a hotel. We do not provide meals, but you may use our kitchen to cook or our refrigerator to store food. Please be aware that the main bathroom is shared, as are all spaces except the bedrooms. We encourage open communication to facilitate understanding between hosts and guests, especially for longer-term stays. It never bothers us, but traffic noise from the nearby road has occasionally been noted as bothersome to certain guests.
Hallowell is a beautiful, friendly city with a robust nightlife. Live music, antique shops, and lovely architecture are some of the things you might notice about the Granite City. There are also many restaurants to choose from. Be aware that during the week, most kitchens close around 9pm. On the weekends, kitchens may be open as late as 10pm. It may help you to research different options before you arrive!
  • A nice room in a beautiful family home. We were in and out for one night but our host were very nice. Thanks!

  • This is one of my favorite Air Bnb’s!!! I stay here any time I’m in Augusta and always look forward to it. It’s in a quiet neighborhood but a quick walk into Hallowell center and some awesome bars if that’s your kind of thing. The owners are very friendly though so usually join them for a beer and a game of pool on their table.

  • Erik and Rebecca were awesome hosts, they made us feel very welcome! The room was clean and pleasant, the pool and hot tub were a very nice bonus, I only wish we hadn't been so busy during our stay to enjoy their company more. Walking distance from downtown Hallowell, I recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet room within reach of the coolest little town in the area!

You can't get any closer to the coast of Maine. The cottage perches on a dock next to a small cove. Low tide beach, high tide swimming area, and lapping waves on a near by ledge make this get away a perfect retreat for one or two guests.
The cottage provides everything you need for a comfortable stay: New mattress and bedding, comfortable chairs for relaxing and dining, a kitchenette for light meals, and deck furniture to enjoy outdoor living. Wrap around windows provide views of the cove and access to summer breezes. A heater keeps the cabin toasty on cooler days.
We are located in a neighborhood of year round homes and summer houses. The nearby (.5 miles) Audubon property offers walking trails. Damariscotta and Round Pond, 15 minutes away, have many restaurants and shops, and galleries. A half hour drive will bring you to Camden and Rockland where you have more access to restaurants and museums. The Midcoast is a beautiful area of Maine that appeals to people who want to view the scenery of the rocky coast while they also enjoy the uniqueness of each village.
  • Sharon and Dick were expert hosts. The "Little Heaven" description of this location is an understatement. It was absolutely perfect. My soul, my body, my mind, were completely at rest in this place. I can't describe how beautiful it is: waking up to a calm inlet at low tide, sleeping to the sound of the waves lapping inward as high tide was rising, the fishermen headed out to sea in the morning, the leaves across the bay having changed looking like a palette of earth tones. It was heavenly, indeed.

    Todd2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely stunning spot- perfect for relaxing, and also perfectly positioned to adventure out and explore beautiful Maine. Sharon and Dick are perfect hosts, and their warm, welcoming personalities are evident. My husband and I listened to the tides come in and out, heard the loon singing, owl calls- Perfection really, for anyone that likes being in tune with nature.

    Caitlin2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This space is small and cozy, right on the water where you can experience the changing tides and bird watch throughout the day (we especially loved watching the cormorants fish!). Location is great, and Sharon & Dick are super responsive and welcoming hosts. Excellent experience!

    Nikki2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in a beautiful setting! Hard to beat the location - directly on the water - lovely to be able to watch the tide come and go on the rocky shore. The cottage is small but masterfully set-up to take advantage of the space. There are two comfortable armchairs in the windows for watching the tides and the sunset, and a deck with more chairs and tables outside. The kitchen was so meticulously set-up that I sent my son, who is a fan of "tiny houses," a few photos of the layout of dishes, cookware etc inside the cabinets - he was impressed. We had no difficulty cooking a range of nice meals despite the small space. We hope to have a chance to stay in this wonderful place again sometime soon.

    Piper2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Words truly cannot describe this little place. My husband and I eloped from Iowa, and got married right there on the boat dock, and spend a week relaxing, seeing the local sites, eating lobster and oysters, and watching the trees start to turn colors. Our first time in Maine was unbelievable, and would not have been the same had we stayed somewhere else. We loved the winding, wooded roads, and just wish we had our motorcycle! This little cottage was perfect for the two of us. Well equipped with everything we needed. We loved cooking live lobsters, grilling steaks and burgers, and eating on the deck. Dick & Sharron are wonderful!! Always friendly when we saw them around the property, and we still felt secluded and in our own private space. We look forward to returning to Little Heaven again someday!! Best vacation of our lives!

    Sarah2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space and hosts. Waking up on the water was truly inspiring.

    Jay2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing little spot on the water. Sharon and Dick were so helpful, but not intrusive. Life does not get much better than sitting on the deck, eating lobster and watching the seals.

    Cathryn2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is truly an unforgettable slice of heaven. We had the best time staying here and felt right at home. The cottage itself was adorable, very clean and well organized, allowing us to make dinners and breakfasts everyday, as well as grill on the porch. We enjoyed nearby hiking and sightseeing, beautiful sunsets and blissful mornings. We loved how quiet the location was and its tranquility, with unique birds and a fresh ocean smell morning and night. Sharon and Dick were very welcoming and accommodating, and we felt very comfortable lounging on the porch and sitting on the dock off their property. All we can say is thank you so much for an unforgettable experience and we definitely plan to return! This place is Maine’s best kept secret, in my opinion ;)

Escape to this quiet space and deep soak your mind in the meditation room or relax your body with the deep soaking tub and recharge after a long day. The whole 3rd floor is yours. A private sitting room, bedroom and bath are ready for your arrival. This is a 3rd story walk up. There is a parking space right outside the front door and a keypad lock. Easy access in and out. Your dog is welcome to join you.
There is a refrigerator, microwave, electric tea kettle and coffee maker for your use. There is no kitchen for cooking.
This neighborhood was developed well over 100 years ago by the local mill owners who built the homes here to provide housing for mill workers from Canada and their families. Eventually a walking bridge was built to allow families to get to church and to school across the Androscoggin River. That bridge will bring you into Brunswick in 5 mins. where you'll find great restaurants, breweries, a local movie theatre, museums, art galleries and Bowdoin College. My favorite coffee shop is an 8 min walk across the pedestrian bridge. Union Street Bakery and Coffee Shop makes the most amazing muffins, breads, cakes and cookies. Along with sandwiches and soups. You won't be disappointed if you head there. You're 15 mins from Freeport and LL Beans and just 30 mins from Portland and its amazing food and music scene. The most beautiful beaches in Maine are just a short drive from here. Along with hikes through the woods, bike trails, boat launches if you've got a canoe or kayak on the roof of your car.
  • We stayed with Mary for a month in winter and loved the place. it's a short 0.5 mile walk to downtown by way of the beautiful Androscoggin foot bridge and 0.75 miles to the Amtrak station. This makes her location perfect if you want to spend time at the wonderful restaurants in Brunswick and take the train into Freeport or Portland, all without driving. Mary's place is larger than the pictures suggest and it's very cozy and private. You effectively have a private entrance. The mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle are sufficient for longer stays if you don't need a full kitchen. Mary is very kind and communicative. We have already booked another month with her and would highly recommend you give her place a try as well.

    Byron2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was very friendly and easy to communicate with. We arrived a weekend of a snow storm and she made sure to check in on us to make sure our trip was going well and we were staying warm with the below average temperatures outside! Great location with plenty to do!

    Scott2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I very much enjoyed my time in Mary's sweet place. Luxurious bath, comfortable bed, and a convenient spot to enjoy Topsham, Brunswick and Portland. I loved walking across the footbridge to Brunswick (there's a yoga studio only a 10 minute walk away). Short drive to beautiful hikes through woods or on beaches. I'll be going back, for sure!

    Amy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This space is clean, organized and stylish. The tub is spacious and pleasant amenities are provided to enjoy it in. Interesting books are provided to read with a sitting area. The mediation room is tranquil. The bed has great pillows and is cozy, the room stayed warm the entire night even with the snowfall outside. Highly recommend this blissful getaway retreat.

    Ally2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place for a quick getaway! Mary’s space is exactly as it’s described in all the best ways. It’s as peaceful and charming as it looks, the tub is amazing and the location is perfect for quiet and strolls into town. I hope to visit again!

This teeny, quaint hut is only small on the inside, as you will likely spend most of your time out-of-doors on our 50 acre site soaking up all it has to offer. Read and snooze in the hammock, meditate and ponder as you look across fields, woods and the lake. Watch your bonfire crackle and snap as you unwind, listening to loons, owls and peepers. Many guests find plenty to do right here and never leave until they check out. The hut comes with a few stories, so don't hesitate to ask about 'em!
**PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY** This site has numerous limitations that can be easily overcome with your detailed planning. Hundreds of guests have found this spot to be simple and simply amazing. Daylight arrival is optimal for all sorts of obvious reasons. Situated in woods and gardens, you will be greeted by early morning light as you awake. No electricity, no running water or traditional showers (potable water is available elsewhere on the property), no kitchen and no real bathroom (a self-serve Reliance portable alternative loo is in the hut and access to a half bath in our lodge is a one minute stroll across the field), no internet and no wifi (unless you sit in my driveway). There is a fabulous, new self-serve solar shower island that brings a smile to many. Your shower will be ready for use upon your arrival. Refilling the shower bag is yours to do. Parking is a one minute walk from this abode, and we provide a cart to help you get your gear to the area. We abide by the Leave No Trace philosophy....if you're not sure, just ask!.
Turner is filled with apple orchards, family farms and small businesses focusing on organic agriculture. Immediately adjacent to our property you will find Turner Highlands golf course and restaurant, with other shops, grocery stores and local things to do just up or down the road apiece. Androscoggin Riverlands State Park is a 5 minute drive from here. A variety of disc golf courses, trails and a myriad of adventures await. Rural but close to Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, Freeport and Portland.
  • A very quite and peaceful place to stay, hearing rain drops hit the roof, acorns falling and watching the turkeys. The perfect get away. The owner is very nice and helpful, she recommended many places to eat.

Chill on the porch after exploring a scenic local walking trail and soak up the serenity of this breezy blue and white hideaway. Striped oars, starfish, smooth shells, and ocean scenes blend with shades of teal and aqua for a thoroughly calm space.
    The entire space. It’s private
The property is close to Portland, Brunswick, Lewiston, and Augusta. There are beaches and scenic trails nearby, as well as Route 1, which hugs the ocean. The White Mountains are also within easy reach for adventurers.

  • Marcia’s place was spotless & the pictures accurately depicted the space. Marcia greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming. Nice touches included a welcome board with our name on it, basket of oatmeal & snack bars, local area guides/restaurant menus, and large selection of coffee K cups & teas. The location worked out well for us 50+ minutes to gardens aglow & ~36 mins to Portland.

    Betty2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and quiet place centrally located! Worked out perfectly for our needs. Marcia communicated quickly with check-in procedures.

    Tammy2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Despite its previous excellent reviews, we were delighted to discover that Marcia’s place exceeded expectations. She was highly responsive from the moment of my first inquiry, and made it a point to welcome us personally. We had every single thing we might have wanted or needed — and more. We also appreciated coffee and other basics for the kitchen, special (and well-marked) touches such as extra pillows and quilts, and an incredible bathroom set-up (best ever in any airbnb in which we’ve stayed!). While still at Marcia’s, we hoped to book a return, but the optimal dates in summer were already gone.... We will try again, and in the meantime grazie mille.

    Marie2019-12-15T00:00:00Z

    Caleb2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at this place! It immediately felt like home, and the little details did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, granola bars, and oatmeal. Very thoughtful items to include in the kitchen. A very clean atmosphere, spotless. The mattress was unbelievably comfortable, and the neighborhood was so quiet that we were able to sleep through the night for once (both nights of our stay!). Before staying here, I had no idea how disappointing my own water heater was. The shower stays nice and warm and heats up quickly. For a chilly November stay, me and my joints were pleasantly surprised by how warm it stayed inside! Thank you so much for our stay, I recommend this to anyone looking for accommodations in the area!

The Kennebec River Rail Trail goes through Hallowell. The Kennebec River is a great place to kayak and see bald eagles soaring and sturgeon jumping.
  • Great place located near everything, very spacious and very clean, would highly recommend.

  • The room truly provides exceptional value. The stay was very comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the many amenities and thoughtful details. Andrea's place is equipped with everything you could possibly want and more! She really goes above and beyond for her guests. We had the pleasure of running into her during our stay and she was incredibly sweet. We made sure to let her know we'll be staying with her again whenever we're in town.

  • This was my first stay in Maine and it exceeded my expectations! The rooms are very cute and cozy. Across the street is a beautiful historic church and it's also walking distance to the downtown district and the Kennebec River. Great food options in downtown Hallowell and the little tavern stays open pretty late so you have have a drink and listen to the band at night. Perfect place for a solo traveler!

    Samantha2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very stylish and well equipped location close to a charming Main Street. Good news - the church clock opposite does not bong through the night!

    Tom2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, comfortable and clean!!

    Heather2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! Excellent value !

    Gabrielle2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stop to stay overnight between Maryland and Prince Edward Island. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer to enjoy everything offered. The house was more than clean and very quaint yet modern with a large and inviting kitchen. Shared bathroom worked out well and we had lots of privacy but other guests were kind when we encountered them. Host was helpful too about local spots. A great spot off of the highway!

    Christie2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent room and amenities for a price and location that can’t be beat! Andrea was incredibly nice, helpful, responded quickly, and provided everything we needed for our stay in Hallowell. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again

  • Perfect hidden cozy place to get away from the nouse

    Dale2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved every moment of our stay! I don't think I have ever been more relaxed. You'll be surrounded by trees and water and wont see a soul while you're there. The nightly train, the acorns dropping, the call of the loons, the hissing & popping of the wood stove and fire pit are some of the coziest sounds ever. The propane camp stove worked like a champ. We brought it outside on the deck railing for some outdoor cooking. The water access is very private so we ended up skinny dipping. We did yoga on the deck, bush whacked through the woods, explored the train tracks and just breathed in the clean open air. We drove a Chevy Volt and were just fine on the road. We went 5mph and carefully maneuvered the car over the roots. This is a tranquil spot to relax and expand into nature if that is your cup of tea. It was definitely ours.

  • This was my second visit to John's cabin and it was even better than what I remembered from my first! I arrived a bit later than anticipated and ran out of sunlight before finding the road in, John was super quick to respond to ensure all was well when I reached out to him. The driving trail had a few sticky spots and ground clearance would have been helpful, but I just took it easy in my car and didn't have any issues. Everything is exactly as listed and described (minus the gas grill in the pics— bring charcoal!) so there shouldn't be any surprises. I would agree with the suggestion of bringing whatever you think you'll want and need as if on a camping trip and you should be golden. Pro Tip: A strand of battery-powered LED lights adds a lovely ambiance when it gets dark. Or just let the stars do the work! :) I find John's place to be a great balance of quiet and secluded while still having the convenience of anything you may need within a close driving distance if necessary. I would highly recommend it if you're looking to comfortably step back from civilization for a bit and spend some time in nature.

  • UNBELIEVABLE stay at this beautiful cabin. My boyfriend and I got a nice little getaway to unwind and relax. He was skeptical with the no electric or actual bathroom but that ended up being our favorite part. You're really forced to switch up your daily routine. The road to the cabin comes up quick so you really need to keep your eyes open but when you find it you’ll know. Will 100% be back. Enjoy your stay!

    Devin2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! I’m not sure how people could find anything to complain about. If you’re careful driving down the dirt road, you’ll arrive at an awesome little cabin overlooking the water. Great fire pit and deck to relax on. 5 stars!

    Rob2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is exactly as described. Looking forward to my next visit.

    Jon2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great “glamping” experience. The cabin was a great home base and had easy access to the lake for swimming / kayaking and paddle board. Will definitely come back!

  • I stopped in for a single night while in the area for work and found the flat warm, tidy, and comfortable with a bowl of chocolates out on the table. The bed was incredibly soft and comfortable and I slept like a rock the whole night. Hope and Jeremy were really lovely, accommodating, and gracious hosts, and I especially loved that they were thoughtful enough to give me suggestions of things to do and see tailored to my interests like Pemaquid lighthouse, Dodge Nature Preserve trails, and Fort Edgecomb — I’m only sorry I didn’t have more time!

    Victoria2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Hope and Jeremy were very accommodating when it came to some changes in our travel plans. I appreciated their hospitality and flexibility very much!
