“Manaia is just a short stroll away and seems very busy and popular. Through the day, we highly recommend their coffees and lovely fresh scones. We recommend booking for evening meals. ”

“If you want a good meal with an Asian infusion, this is the place for you. Only a short 12 minute walk away from your accommodation its not to be missed. Sit under the stars and enjoy the summer night air or head down for a quick bite to eat before heading to the beach.....and they also make a great cocktail.”

“Beautiful locally made food by the lovely Linda. Make sure to go for morning tea or lunch, as the freshest of muffins, cakes and scones will be ready to eat. The lunches here are divine. Coffee comes lovely and hot. So nice to sit here and look out across the harbour. ”

Scenic Viewpoint
“About a 20 minute walk from house to top of summit, or take the car up to the start of the track. About 10 minutes walk from start of the track, quite steep atvthe end but managable.....the reward is some of the best views around, out to Slipper Island, Rabbit Island, Shoe island, the the famous Alderman islands. A must!”

“Paaku is accessible via walking tracks (fitness level moderate to high), or you can follow the signs up Paku Drive to the car park and walk to the summit. Make sure to take your camera to get magnificent shots of the Pacific Ocean backdrop to the Alderman Islands, Tairuas Ocean Beach, Pauanui Beach, Slipper Island, Shoe Island, and on great days all the way to White Island off Whakatane. Take your water bottle, slap on the sunscreen and wear sensible walking shoes.”

“Walk to the Paku summit for amazing view over Tairua and Pauanui. Maori saying is that once you have walked to the summit you will always return to Tairua. It's great run from the beach ..”
