The Hunter Greenhouse is a place to slow down, indulge in personal nostalgia, drink a glass (or two) of wine, and let your mind disconnect and wander. A place designed for friends and family. For good food and good conversation. There's hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, mountain fresh air and dark, starry nights. This is a house, and you can treat it as such. But if you let go, and give in to the energy of a space created with love, this will feel like home.
Follow us on Instagram! @thehuntergreenhouse The Hunter Greenhouse is a three bed two bath 1971 flat roof A-frame located in Tannersville, NY in the heart of the Catskills - two hours north of New York City. We are located on North Lake Road, one mile from North-South Lake and Kaaterskill Falls, and surrounded by some of the best hiking in the Catskills.

  • Amazing cabin!! I came with a group of 6 for a ski weekend bband couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The cabin is 15 minutes from Hunter Mountain and is perfect for cozying up after a long day in the slopes. We would definitely come back again!

  • This is a sweet spot for an upstate getaway. The house is comfortable and light filled and Danielle did a wonderful job of communicating. She provided great local recommendations but the house is special enough, you may not want to leave.

  • Had a truly wonderful and relaxing time at Danielle and Ely's place. A beautiful and comfortable home with a great layout for hanging out and kitchen for cooking nice meals in. All the bedrooms were good size and comfortable. Bathrooms clean and spacious. Great place to hang out with friends and family with lots of thoughtful touches. Can't wait to come back and experience it in the summer time!

  • It was very special trip for me and my friends! We were 3 couples and it was just perfect for us! All the decorations are super cute, quick responses for any time we had questions, they had everything we needed, and especially the fireplace gave us such a great memory. Thank you, Danielle and Ely, for the wonderful hosting! We’ll definitely be back soon! :)

  • Beautiful, cozy cabin. We visited for a winter get-away, but definitely want to return in the spring, so we can take advantage of the outdoor space. Great location, comfortable, warm space that you really won’t want to leave.

Easy drive from the city and close to both Hunter and Windham! Clum house is a 2 story renovated house with a fully equipped kitchen and wood burning fireplace. The location is great year round. Close to Woodstock, Saugerties, Hudson, the Hudson River and Hunter and Windham ski resorts. The house is in a rural community so the water comes from a well. We've had problems with it in the past but installed a new filtration system last year and the water is now crystal clear and scent free.
The House was originally part of Camp Ontiora, a girls camp that operated from the 20's through to the 60's. Our property includes several of the original camp buildings and cabins. We use Clum as a Guest House and rent it when not occupied. My partner Daniel and I are architect/designers and rehabilitating the camp has been a labor of love over the past decade. It's in a great neighborhood with terrific neighbors. Over the past couple of years we helped our good friends renovate the camp lodge a few doors away which is also available for rent on Airbnb. Christopher has great info about the area in their listing and it's a wonderful place to stay if Clum is booked. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1257258

  • An absolutely beautiful cabin which is incredibly beautiful and comfortable. Kevin is also an excellent communicator. Highly recommend

    Jo2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin’s house is very comfortable, clean and well decorated. It is a home that would be great to visit in the middle of winter or summer. We hope to go back!

    Hannah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely visit with our two little boys to celebrate my husbands birthday. Communication was great, easy check in. The property was beautiful, loved taking morning walks with the kids. The fireplace made the house extra cozy. It’s nicely decorated and all the beds had nice linens and were very comfortable. We ventured all around the area during our 4 day weekend — downtown Hudson for meals & farmers market. Hunter mountain for snow tubing and a nearby farm to see some cute animals! Highly recommend!

    Katie2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very artistic and cozy house. Love all the art work on the wall especially the Bernd & Hilla Becher’s photo!!

    Xiao2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend. Very pretty and very comfortable. It is as good as it looks in the photos. Beautifully appointed -- if you enjoy interior design, you'll love the details. Lovely outdoor space as well and while our weather was just ok (it was January after all) in our short stay we spotted a pileated woodpecker, golden-crowned kinglet and enjoyed the chickadees and juncos flitting about. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.

    Sue2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house is so clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make delicious dinners. I would highly recommend

  • Kevin’s home is absolutely perfect. If you’re looking for the perfect getaway, I highly recommend booking this home. Looking forward to returning soon!

  • This was my second time staying at Clum House. My friend and I loved it so much last year that it's become an annual tradition--mid-December, we trek to Clum for our yearly writing retreat. The house is gorgeous and rustic (we especially love the fireplace) with an expansive backyard and candles and cozy blankets. Dusty, the house manager, is around and available if you run into issues--for example, we ran out of firewood and Kevin+Dusty hooked us up immediately. Kevin was also flexible about time--we wanted to arrive a little early, and I had to leave late because my car battery died and I was waiting for roadside assistance. No problem. I can't wait to stay at Clum House again next year.

Bonner Lodge is our secret little hideaway (well, not that little at 2,500 square feet) in the Hudson Valley/Catskills area of upstate New York. We first learned of this former Girl Scout Camp lodge through friends who purchased and renovated a portion of the original camp next door as their weekend getaway. An architect and designer from New York City, these friends had us up to their unbelievably stylish "camp" and we fell in love--not only with their preppy-chic Girl Scout cabins, lawn parties, and design aesthetic, but also the Town of Catskill, the mountains, the ski resorts, the local produce stand--all of it! It was such a magical escape from the fast-paced-pound-the-pavement life that we lead back in the city. So, when we found out that the original camp lodge, that housed all the girls' (and boys from the nearby brother camp) church services and stage performances was up for sale, we knew we had to buy it. And who better to renovate the lodge and bring it into a modern day structure? The architect and the designer. And a year and half later, Bonner Lodge, with it's magnificent stone fireplace, is a warm, 3 bedroom log cabin, with 2 full bathrooms, a spacious and stylish kitchen, a very large, open main living + dining room, and covered porch for alfresco dining or sunset cocktails. We have listed several pictures for you to get a sense of Bonner Lodge and our personal style. But Adirondack, Mid Century, Modern, Warm, Comfortable--all fit the feel and style of the lodge. A few highlights: Kitchen -- fully stocked chef's kitchen with ALL your needs (and if something is needed or missing, please let us know) Bedrooms -- each bedroom (2 queen + 1 twin) has two sets of linens + great light; the 2 queen bedrooms have A/C units for the summer months and brand new high quality mattresses, the twin has a window and fan and pulls AC from the main room when door kept open. Window Seat -- custom built down cushions provide an unbelievably cozy relaxation spot and serves as two extra "twin" mattresses for spillover sleeping (kids LOVE this nook) Fireplace -- the focal point of the lodge and our personal fav Guest Bathroom -- boasts a brand new rain shower + all new fixtures and a gorgeous skylight Master Bathroom -- also brand new fixtures + a Japanese inspired tub with a shower and a window that gives a sense of taking a shower outside Washer + Dryer -- in the back hallway for you to use during your stay Dining Room -- open to the Main Living Room, it seats 16 Outdoor Grill -- please bring up charcoal/lighter fluid etc Bonner Lodge is a place to relax, cook, and spend time with family and friends. Playing board games, relaxing by the fire after a day at the nearby ski resorts, or cooking a Thanksgiving meal is what the property is made for. It also provides a wonderful home base to explore the gorgeous and historic Catskill Mountain Region--hikes, trails, creeks, waterfalls, ski resorts. Perfect for an artist or writer or outdoor sports enthusiast or nature lover or a family with kids. There are a few AMAZING towns all within 10 to 20 minutes of Bonner: 1. Saugerties -- huge 24 hour grocery store, home to HIT Horse shows, high end hotel for spill over family, fun local bars with great burgers and beer, movie house, the local gym, cute stores and one of my fav restaurants Miss Lucy's, with it's perfect Blood Orange Margarita 2. Woodstock -- yes, THE Woodstock. Quaint artist town with amazing eateries and festivals and music and antiquing 3. Hudson -- high end shopping, great food, gourmet grocer, the perfect wine & cheese shop, art galleries, beautiful antique stores, an Amtrak station, a great "have an evening on the town" town 4. Catskill -- another 24 hour grocery store, 24 hour diner (our breakfast go-to), Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, CVS: all things needed for modern civilization; also an historic downtown area with cuteness abounding Bonner Lodge is about 1 hour and 40 minutes from New York City. 40 minutes from Albany. An easy and cheap Amtrak ride from Boston or New York CIty. A few things we'd like for you to know: We have two cabins out back of the lodge. They are currently being used as storage for us and they are certainly not renovated or habitable, but they are there and can be seen and we want you to know that. One day soon, we will paint, and update, and get them ready for a ping-pong table and extra sleeping cabins. We are just not there yet. We love this lodge immensely. Although new homeowners, along with our family and friends, we have enjoyed wonderful weeks and holidays here. We want the same unique experience for you as well. Bonner Lodge loves to be lived in. I'm sure you have tons of questions, and we have more info to give those interested in booking. Let the process begin. And welcome to Bonner Lodge. P.S. If our lodge is booked, OR, if you have a huge group or family and need BOTH places, please check out our good friend Kevin's place next door. It's got amazing style and great light. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1688089
    Relaxing, woodsy, private.
  • Such an amazing house. Huge great room is beautiful during day with sun streaming in through windows and skylights, and equally beautiful at night with all of the well-designed, soft lighting and massive fireplace. The property is equally lovely.

  • This may be the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Christopher and Geoffrey were so thoughtful, quick to respond and accommodating. They turned lights on and made it cozy for our arrival, had wonderful touches everywhere that we enjoyed. It’s the coziest house and we stayed with our kids and dog and felt the perfect balance of stylish and comfortable. They have everything you could need and it’s an easy drive to Hudson, Hunter, and Woodstock. Thank you so much!! We will be back for sure!

  • You know that super chic home of your dreams in the Catskills? This is it. The home was even more stunning than the pictures and an amazing retreat for a weekend away from the city. The decor is beautiful, the house is fully stocked and pristine and Christopher and Geoffrey are excellent and responsive hosts. They've truly thought of everything and are beyond welcoming. Our best rental thus far. We can't wait to come back again!

  • This is my favorite AirBNB I’ve stayed at. It’s an awesome cabin in the woods with a huge fireplace, great cookware, lots of good books, beautiful design, comfortable furniture and many thoughtful touches. It is a private and peaceful place to sneak away for a few days. I wished I’d had more time to explore the area and check out more of Christopher and Geoffrey’s recommendations but the places we did go to were great. Also their housekeeper does an amazing job to keep the place very clean and comfortable.

  • This was my second time back to this beautiful home and it was even more lovely than I remembered. There were a few new designs updates that were gorgeous. The home is truly out of the pages of Elle Decor. We had every amenity we could possibly need. The space was spotless when we arrived and Christopher and Geoffrey were such fabulous hosts. They take great care to leave the most amazing and thoughtfully curated itinerary that we followed to a tee, not to mention, very clear instructions on anything we would need for the home. Several friends of mine are booking follow up stays and I will be as well. I highly, highly recommend this beautiful upstate retreat :)

    Diana2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge was so beautiful with such great attention to detail. The kitchen was a chefs dream with everything you could ever need to make delicious dinners. The fireplace provided a great vibe in the huge living room for us all to hang out in. I would highly recommend

    Kerry2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Christopher and Geoffrey are amazing hosts. The home is everything you could want for a cozy weekend away-- a short drive to several cute towns, but secluded and cozy. There are so many thoughtful details in this home, nice appliances and cookware, and all the creature comforts that are often missing from a rental property. Christopher and Geoffery are communicative and flexible- cannot recommend this spot enough.

    Emily2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Christopher and Geoffrey have put together a truly beautiful escape and are fantastic hosts. Will most certainly be coming back.

    Joseph2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING place! More than enough room for groups. The place was huge, a bit cold but we made it work. There were space heaters around to use. Very, very impressive. Needs a little up keeping as we woke up to a flood in the master bathroom but that def did not change our mind about wanting to come back! This place would be even more amazing in the summer. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

    Iris2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very eclectic and fun with so much space for activities and also space for alone time if you're in a big group. Was there in winter but would definitely love to come back for the pool in warmer months. We set up a Chopped cooking challenge in the double kitchen with great success, though watch out as the burners on the stove can be a little inconsistent. It was a bit cold when we arrived so if you're going in the winter I recommend getting all the space heaters going asap. Overall highly recommended, Marco is very quick with communication and we had an amazing time.

    Tine2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Marco’s home was absolutely stunning. Photos on Airbnb do not do this place justice. The arches in this home are a sight to see alone. There was plenty of space for the 10 of us to sleep, eat, and just hang out. My favorite part was the balcony. I would spend my mornings out there. The view is absolutely breathtaking. The home was really cold when we first arrived, despite setting the heat higher and running the pellet stove. It took a good night’s worth of time to feel like the house was warm enough. Luckily the maintenance lady comes by 3 times a day to fuel the wood burning furnace outside that heats the whole home. There is a Walmart about 10 minutes away for any last min needs. We picked up more toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues since there wasn’t a lot of it when we arrived. If you need your own spices, I suggest bringing them. All pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc. are available, however. Our group is already talking about coming back in the summertime to reap the benefits of the pool at this place. Already dreaming of it...

    Jenn2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 Would recommend this home to everyone! The views were incredible, the house was beautiful inside and out, and Marco had very fast responses. Though the pictures look great, the home is EVEN BETTER in person. Great for big groups!! Would 100% book again!

    Cassandra2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic house and a responsive host - we had a great time at Marco's villa and hope to be back soon.

    Alexander2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful place with an amazing view. Marco was prompt with responses. We plan on renting again

    Jonathan2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Marco’s home was perfect for a large group. It had more than enough space and privacy for all of us. The kitchen was also well suited for cooking for a large group and had all of the utensils and cookware we needed. The location was ideal and close to Hudson and Woodstock. Our weekend at Marco’s place was one for the books!

A charming 'Camping Cabin' in the forest on 20+ acres of overlooking a 1 1/2 acre lake. [Some would call it a pond, but it is 10 feet deep with a thermocline] The property is shared with a Sioux Tipi [Not visible from the cabin] which can be booked along with the cabin if there are more than 2 or 3 people in your group.
This is a charming 'Camping Cabin' in the woods on more than 20 acres of woodlands overlooking a 1 and 1/2 acre lake. [Some would call it a pond, but it is 10 feet deep with a thermocline, by definition, a lake - more on that below] This tiny cabin has maximum occupancy of 3 people. There is a queen size mattress in the sleeping loft, and the bench on the first floor has a 6 inch thick foam seat that is the size of a single bed – 80 inches by 27 inches. For 3 adults, the cabin is small. If you are considering more than 2, we have another off the grid cabin also listed on Airbnb that sleeps 4 with 2 queen beds that you may prefer. That one is about 15 miles to the north. At the end of this description is a method to find our other retreats on Airbnb. DISCOUNTS: Rates are discounted for teachers, seniors [62], and full time students. Last minute bookings made 36 hours or less prior to check in time are discounted also - the last minute discount is automatically input by Airbnb, for one of the others, send an inquiry and we can input it. This 20 acre property is shared by a Sioux Tipi, [from April to November only]. The tipi will occasionally have guests. Guests at the tipi will have access to the well to get drinking water, and the floating dock and canoe is shared with them. They have their own paddles, so they don’t need to disturb you to use the canoe. As the crow flies, the tipi is about 250 feet distant, and not visible from the cabin]. The Cabin is insulated and has heat. There is a sleeping loft with a queen size mattress accessed by a ladder. Chloe's Cabin is 8 feet by 10 feet, and 13 feet high, plus a covered porch. The cabin does not having running water inside. There is a water well [see below]. The cabin is not connected to the electric grid - that's what 'camping cabin' refers to. We have installed a small solar electric system. This provides 12 V DC to operate two lamps and to run the water pump. There is a USB port - enough for charging small electronic devices. There is a lightweight 2 person Kevlar canoe for your use. Lake has lots of fish - bass, sunnies and carp. The forest has lots of wildlife, deer, fox, bear, wild turkeys, owls, etc. For cooking there is a 2 burner Coleman camp stove, and outside, a fire place with a grill. It is an idyllic getaway for those who appreciate nature. About the area: Saugerties is about 3 miles away, a sweet village with numerous antique shops. The center of Woodstock is less than 10 miles from the property. The equestrian 'HITS' is nearby. This is at the edge of the Catskill Mountains, with fishing, hiking, tubing, and other outdoor activities nearby. In the summer months the lake has watermeal, tiny pinhead size leaves that float on the surface. When it's breezy, the lake surface is clear of it, when it's totally calm the leaves spread out on the lake. When cold weather comes, they're gone. Our favorite times there are October through May. The cold weather makes the water clear, lake-like, in summer, it looks more like a pond. For the past 25 years, this has been one of our favorite retreats. We began sharing the cabin in summer 2011. We had retired, so owning and maintaining a $400,000. property just to camp a few weekends a year became extravagant. To make it feasible, we decided to ask guests to bring their own sleeping bags and towels, and that they 'leave it as they found it' This has worked well, it seems that guests who are interested in this type of retreat are most always respectful of the property and of the next guest. To date more than 98% of a few hundred guests have left the cabin in good shape and clean. Every month or so we check out the cabin to restock supplies and fix deficiencies, if any. We have at the cabin plates, glasses, utensils, toilet paper, paper towels, candles, a Coleman 2 burner propane stove for cooking, and fuel for it. As it is camping, we ask that you bring sleeping bags, a flashlight, matches, newspaper for lighting the campfire, etc. - what you would for any camping trip. In front of the cabin there's a fire place with a grill. We supply firewood. You may need to split it to size for campfires – there is a splitting maul at the cabin. IN DRY SEASON BE SURE NO COMBUSTIBLES ARE NEAR THE FIRE PIT WHEN YOU MAKE A FIRE, AND DON'T LEAVE AN UNATTENDED FIRE. . .------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: A guest who posted a review of our Sioux Tipi in Woodstock, New York introduced us to a word we didn’t know, writing: “Wow. All I can say is that this is THE place for anyone wanting the complete Woodstock experience. . . I really enjoyed the privacy and getting to enjoy the scene without distractions. The tipi isn't the most glamorous experience, but it's glamping to the highest compliment. . . Highly, highly recommended for city folk who want to get in touch with their inner Paul Bunyans.” Looking up “glamping,” we found this definition: 'Going camping, but with glamour. A combination of the two words. It's like regular camping , but with nicer things than usual, being warmer, and more comfortable. . . Satisfying your craving for the outdoors and your penchant for a good meal, nice glass of wine, and a comfortable bed.' Now “glamorous camping” sounds like an oxymoron, but I suppose it’s possible, e. g: 'Oh Heathcliffe dear, I'm ever so glad we are glamping this weekend. By the way, is the butler done catching our trout?' I post this here, although the review was for the Sioux tipi, as glamping seems an appropriate adjective for our two off the grid cabins. Following are notes sent to us by guests who spent a week at the cabin in 2014, with information about getting to the cabin if you don't have a car, and about the well: '- For anyone without a car, the bus from NYC to Saugerties is excellent, the Saugerties Stagecoach taxi was only $11 to the cabin. We brought enough food for 7 days in our backpacks, no problem. [Host’s note: If you don't bring all the food you need with you, there' a market one mile away that's shown on the topo map we send] - We drunk the well water - it was perfect. . . [Hosts' note – once in a while, we detect a slight sulfur smell in the water] Although we thought it was clear in the description, they suggested we reiterate: 1. to get to the bed one must climb a ladder, so if you are not physically fit, it would be hard. August 2016: A guest sent us a photo of a nice bass caught in the lake, which we posted on the website.. A recent inquiry asked some questions and we copy them and our reply below: 1) Is it safe there? (I mean, are there any strangers and / or any dangerous animals around?) 2) Is the lake swimmable? 3) How far is the lake from the cabin? Answers: It is safe around here. No dangerous animals. We have seen bears a few times on the property, but they are not dangerous. Lots of wildlife, we have seen over the years wild turkey, great blue heron, geese, green heron, ducks, foxes, deer; until a couple of years ago, there was a resident beaver family, the lake has sunnies and bass. You may see our enormous grass carp, nearly 3 feet, we introduced years ago to eat algae – they are vegetarian, so you can't catch it with bait. It is advisable not to leave food or anything outside that would attract bears. In addition to fishing in the lake, we often see people fishing in the nearby reservoir from the bridge [see the topo map for location]. For fishing off the property you'd need a license. Licenses can be purchased online cheaply for 1 day or 7 days. The cabin is about 75 feet from the lake, on a little hill overlooking it. Is it swimmable? The “swimmabiliy” varies with the time of year. For us it is swimmable, whenever the water is warm enough. We often use flotation devices [little inner tubes or rafts one can buy for a few dollars]. In the fall through spring, up until some time in June or so, it is clear and "lake-like." Sometime starting in June, watermeal grows. Watermeal is a plant like a tiny pin head size leaf. It floats on the surface of the water. When there’s a breeze, it blows to the edge of the lake and the surface is clear of it. If there is no wind, it spreads over the lake. Also, the water gets a greenish tint when the hot weather arrives, not algae or nasty, but more pond like - some people wouldn't choose to swim in it, we do. The lake maintains a thermocline all summer, that is, while the surface water gets warm, the deeper water, a foot or more below the surface, stays cool. Having a thermocline is one of the differences that distinguish a lake from a pond. If a body of water is not deep enough, it cannot keep the thermocline. The photo of the lake on the website was taken in June, when there was no watermeal on it. While we email a map to each guest after booking and suggest they print it out. Nevertheless we receive an occasional frantic call or text from an arriving guest saying they don’t have the map to find the cabin. So just in case, here are directions from the entrance at 375 Hommelville Road in Saugerties: Wood road goes straight in for 1000 feet, then takes a sharp left turn. Almost immediately after the turn, the road forks. Right fork leads to the Sioux Tipi. To cabin, take left fork. 50 feet beyond the first fork is a second fork, to the right is toward the cabin. In 300 feet the road ends. The lake is to your right, the solar panels and well are to the left, the cabin about 60 feet up a slight hill to the left. Finally, If you'd like to check out all of our retreats - three of them are off-the grid like this one, here's how: To view all our listings: From any of our listings, click on my photo, then, next page you come to, click my photo again. • Wonderful place with all you need for a retreat. Will be returning. Andrew was lovely.

  • Andrew’s place is tucked away in glorious isolation just off the edge of a small lake. It’s a wonderful little cabin with everything you need to have an awesome nature getaway. The fire pit is perfect, you have complete privacy in the woods, and the little cabin is very cozy and warm. We would definitely stay there again!

    Jacob2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • It is exactly as described - a tiny little cottage in the woods overlooking a small lake/pond. Was a lovely 2 days to disconnect and just enjoy nature and the surrounding towns. If you are looking for something easier and more comfortable than a tent but still feeling like you're camping this is your place!

    Marie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this little cabin and found everything to be comfortable and clean. We loved being able to paddle around the lake a little bit and relax by the fire at night. The cabin was super cozy and there was plenty of room for my husband, my son and me. Also Saugerties is a very cute little town, very close to the cabin's location and worth a visit while you're in the area. Perfect spot for those interested in a camping experience without ~completely~ roughing it. Highly recommended.

  • Andrew’s cabin is in the most private and peaceful location..we had a wonderful time and so did our dog..we recommend it to anyone wanting to get away..it is rustic, but worth the effort..

  • Super quaint cabin! The area was lovely. A great get away for my boyfriend and our fur baby :)

Beautiful, well appointed renovated school house sitting on 5 acres of land with access to a private river. Short drive to Hunter Ski Mountain.
Beautiful, well appointed renovated school house sitting on 5 acres of land with access to a private river. You can hide out on this lovely property, or drive a short distance in any direction for antiquing, hiking, skiing and exploring. There is a queen bed, a double bed and a couch. Swimming in the river, sun baking, and walking are all recommended in summer. The area is very quiet, and you can feel completely in the country, yet just a few miles from so much else. There are many activities on offer such as golf, tennis, mini golf, go carting, hunter zip line, and more. Pick up your groceries before you arrive and just relax, or venture out to enjoy someone else's cooking (a number of excellent choices at reasonable prices, I made some recommendations in the airbnb guide book). Endless other things to do. The house is centrally located, roughly 6 miles from exit 20 NYS Thruway, minutes from HITS horse riding facility. 20 mins from Woodstock; 30 mins from Hudson, 15 mins to Saugerties and Catskill towns. There is a bus from the city Trailways to Palenville stop is the best way on public transport, then a taxi from there is possible. There is also the Amtrak train to Hudson (this is 30min drive from the house) Wireless router in the house next door provides strong internet access. Login details in the house manual on the airbnb listing. Verizon cell coverage is generally better than ATT in this area.
The area is centrally located between 3 towns. Saugerties, Catskill and Hudson.
  • We had a wonderful time at this beautiful old school house. Stylish decor with lots of thoughtful touches and well stocked with everything you need. The fireplace is a real treat and there is a gorgeous big garden which leads to a wood and a creek. Nicolas couldn’t have been more helpful. The location is convenient for Hudson and Woodstock and nice trails just a short car ride away. We will definitely be coming back!

    Shelley2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nicolas’ fabulous school house home... from the comfy bed and stylish surroundings to the cozy fire and fully-stocked kitchen. A perfect Catskill getaway - with the most responsive, accommodating hosts.

    Krystal2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really charming cottage tucked away in the Catskills. The location and grounds are amazing if you want to really escape. Our dogs loved having access to the woods and a stream nearby. The house itself was super cozy and stylish. Loved the wood burning stove! Although the property is shared with another house, we felt that we had complete privacy. Nicolas was a very accommodating host as well. Looking forward to coming back sometime!

  • This place was lovely to stay in, i was drawn to how much natural light there is in this space! This space is so spacious and cozy at the same time. I liked all the decorative and thoughtful touches. I had everything I needed and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It didn’t bother me too much while I was here but it is close to a road (not many cars drive on it). I sense it would feel more secluded from the road when it’s summer and the foliage is full

    Sarah2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful, snowy weekend at the loft! We had stayed on the other side of the building a couple summers ago so knew that we were in for a treat. The gas fireplace kept us super cozy, as did the ample natural light and stylish atmosphere. The loft is full of homey touches and is well stocked with various necessities. We also appreciated Jaime's local tips (like the veggie lasagna at the Garden Cafe-- yum!). We can't wait to come back!

    Sarah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

Spend your time exploring the Catskill Region from this super conveniently placed home. In warmer months, after a day of hiking, mountain biking, or zip line adventure relax and unwind in a spacious sun room. In cooler months go leaf peeping, exploring small towns, antiquing, skiing or snow shoeing, then return home and cozy up with hot tea by the wood burning fireplace. This 100 year old, main street farmhouse has a rustic feel with exposed beams, reclaimed wood trim and a touch of modern furnishings with eclectic decoration, all combining to fill the space with real character.
We put in a lot of effort to carefully curate this 100+ year old farmhouse to make it both comfortable, user friendly and also give you a real feeling of the upstate Hudson Valley/ Catskill Mountains experience. Take time to browse through the books and magazines by the fire and take in the house details. Or, we recommend exploring all that is nearby. The home is central to everything, within a 30 minute or less drive. The Kaaterskill Wild Forest trail head is about 300 feet west of our front door for great hiking. The Kaaterskill creek is across the street, and Kaaterskill Falls can be hiked to easily (or a quick drive). Come stay and see why we love our home.
The house is at the foot of Catskill State Park giving quick and easy access to several great hikes with trail heads minutes away. Some even lead to Kaaterskill Falls. It's also conveniently located on Main Street Palenville which provides walking access to a nearby market or a quick drive by car up and down the canyon road. Driving West is Hunter Mountain, Windham Mountain and quaint Catskill towns such as Woodstock, Tannersville and Phoenicia, or head East to Hudson, Saugerties and Athens.
  • Beautiful and cozy house designed with impeccable taste. Such a perfect winter getaway. We loved it so much that had to extend our stay. And the hosts are super responsive and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again.

    Elina2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This home was amazing — exactly as pictured, beauty in every detail. The kitchen was well stocked and the firewood piled high! We loved the wood-burning fireplace in the living room, it was perfect for the chilly winter nights (there was also a thermostat :)) House is on a quite stretch of the main road — easy access to all activities in nearby towns.

    Lauren2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Chris' home is awesome for a quick weekend away. The sun room is perfect and the location is great for hiking/cliff jumping in the summer and boarding in the winter. We definitely plan on coming back.

    Aya2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautifully laid out and decorated. We felt so comfortable in every room of the house that we mostly stayed home for the whole time we were there, enjoying each and every room. The full kitchen had everything we needed for cooking up many feasts, and the bedrooms were very cozy. There are many places to get groceries or supplies within walking distance, and the local cafe has amazing sandwiches and snacks. The waterfall nearby is a nice half a mile hike & the view is worth it. Mark and Christopher were amazing hosts and we’d love to return in the near future!

    June2019-11-27T00:00:00Z

  • We loved our stay at this cozy home in the Catskills. The house was cozy and charming. The location was great, close to the general store where we got coffee every morning, and close to nearby hiking trails and other cute towns we were able to explore. We would definitely stay here again if we ever head up that way! Thank you for a wonderful little get away

He knew this stay was a birthday gift and wanted to give us a heads up and gave us a full refund so that I could make other plans. Thanks so much Sorov for being so understanding and helpful. We will be back soon to stay in your place!

Want to know more about the history or our area? Catskill Stream is snuggled into an area so rich in history, where legend begat fact, that the neighborhood adds another layer of wonder to an already stunning setting. It was this immediate area of Palenville that Washington Irving borrowed in 1819 for the setting for the epic slumber and awakening of "Rip Van Winkle," drawing the then-young country's attention to the area. A few years later, the first of the pioneering artists of what became known as the Hudson River School of painting were pulled here, too. Thomas Cole, Kaaterskill Thomas Cole, The Falls of the Kaaterskill, 1826 The young Thomas Cole first visited here in 1825, to sketch nearby Kaaterskill Falls and other spots. The paintings he made from those sketches moved many other artists to flock to the area to try to capture it's awe-inspiring beauty, not only on canvas but also in poetry and prose. Their glorious works, widely reproduced in the major periodicals of the day, attracted so many visitors that they in turn spurred the popularity of grand mountaintop hotels, which became favored destinations for all the giants of the 19th and early 20th century. The famed Catskill Mountain House, in 1823 the first resort in America, was as legendary in its time as any playground of the famous and powerful today. The Mountain House, and the others that followed, like the Hotel Kaaterskill and the Laurel House, attracted Twain, Sherman, Presidents Arthur and Grant, along with nobility and notables from all over the world. This is the real Catskill Mountains, not the vacation areas in the foothills to the southeast that long ago misappropriated the name. The justly famed Kaaterskill Falls, the tallest in New York State, rendered and made famous by all the major Hudson River School artists, is no more than four miles up the road! The Mountain House, Hotel Kaaterskill and the Laurel House, widely-famed landmarks in their day, are all gone now. The depression of the 1930's, fire, and the march of time eventually brought their reign to the end, and the once imposing structures demolished. But the scenery is now even more sublime since the area has reverted to its natural state, and man made structures no longer interfere. Asher Durand, who bought one of Thomas Cole's original three paintings of the region, painted this tribute to his friends William Cullen Bryant and Cole after the latter's passing. It shows his interpretation of a spot in the Kaaterskill Clove, borrowing various features from different locations. It is regarded as a defining work of the Hudson River School. The Hudson River School Art Trail — Hike to the nearby sites made famous by the painters of the Hudson River School. "Cedar Grove" — the Thomas Cole House in the nearby Town of Catskill, a national historic site. "Olana" — The Frederick Church House, in Hudson, NY, hailed by many as the queen of the Hudson Valley estates. The Wadsworth Atheneum's renowned Hudson River School collection, the finest of its kind, contains over 65 Hudson River landscapes, including thirteen of Thomas Cole's. The paintings are currently traveling as an exhibit in Europe (9/08). Founder Daniel Wadsworth was one of Cole's most important patrons. Check out this book: "Kaaterskill - From the Catskill Mountain House to the Hudson River School" Published by the Mountain Top Historical Society, Black Dome Press, 1993
We are on the most beautiful stream in the Catskills. On the Kaaterskill Clove near the legendary Kaaterskill Falls. (Highest falls in New York). You'll recognize views from masters paintings and will love the local flavor.
  • My friends and I had a really awesome time at this place! It was so clean, cute and comfortable. Lea and Jeff were so helpful and gave us many local tips and we enjoyed them all! We stayed at this place to visit Hunter Mountain and ended up doing so many other things in the area as well! This place is about 20 minutes from the mountain but the drive is pretty and there are many cute coffee places or restaurants to visit on the way. We are looking forward to our next stay!

  • We had a very relaxing stay at Lea and Jeff’s property. They both were welcoming and friendly. The area is picturesque with great skiing. I would recommend this place!

    Zuzana2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very comfortable and Lea + Jeff were so accommodating. After a late check in arranged by a quick message, we received a plate of delicious homemade brownies. Clean towels and blankets were available for us in the second bedroom. Coffee and tea in the kitchen. The main bedroom had a large DVD and book collection that kept us entertained into the night. To top it off - it was a stone's throw away from a babbling brook which made this the perfect stay for our hiking trip.

    Leonard2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little apartment for some quiet time away. We stayed as it was close to Katterskill falls as well as Saugerties. We planned some antiques shopping in Saugerties and some time to go to the park. Plenary of good food in the area and a great location for our needs. The place was very clean and pictures are accurate to what you will find. Cozy space to spend some time.

    Traci2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy apartment, amazing staying, great hospitality, they gave us a delicious brownie when we just arrived. Have amenities in the kitchen enough for your stay. The location is also perfect like 15 min driving to Hunter and about 12 min from kaaterskill falls. Definitely I recommend this place.

    Paola2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lea and Jeff's place was great! Very comfortable and easy to get to. I would highly recommend their home to anyone who's looking to stay in the area.

    James2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lea and Jeff were wonderful hosts that made us feel so welcome and offered local tips. The surroundings were beautiful and the sound of the stream was relaxing. The place is very close to many enjoyable hikes.

    David2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience was like the other guests whose reviews we read - wonderful. The upstairs apartment is small but so cute and cozy and clean. It was perfect for four adults who enjoy spending time together. We walked to Circle W for wonderful breakfasts, drove up the mountain to hike to the Kaaterskill Falls, and drove a little further to explore nearby Woodstock. Just wish we’d had a day or two longer to stay. Loved the beautiful quilts on our beds and slept so well in the peace and quiet. And Lea’s brownies are great!

  • Good place.

  • Lovely, charming home. We stayed here for the weekend to go snowboarding at Hunter, which is only 20 minutes away. Towns near by for food and beers. The house had everything you possibly could need if you wan treed to cook and was super clean. Loved the creek right outside in the back. We loved the quirky art and decor all over and the pillows and bed were super comfy and cozy. Hosts were very thoughtful and responsive. Would 100% stay again and recommend!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Danny's place. Wouldn't change a thing -- it had everything we needed and was in a great location for hiking, places to eat, peace and quiet.

    Heather2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, super clean, quiet location, amazing backyard which backs up to a gorgeous river. We have an infant/toddler and the one floor layout was perfect.

    Kirk2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is an amazing little getaway spot. The cottage looks very unassuming but when you open the door, it's all wood floors and a completely refinished space with lots of windows. The place was sparkling clean. The two bedrooms and one and 1/2 baths worked wonderfully for our party. The kitchen is small but easy to work in. The prize is the sweeping backyard by the creek with sequestered sculptures. Wish we'd had more time to enjoy that space. We are planning to get back there sometime soon. The location is tucked away...very quiet. Be warned...no cell service in that area so use their WIFI for directions and info before you leave!! Cute breakfast places along 23A and the Rip Van Winkle Country Club is a must for dinner. Host and hostess answered all our questions quickly and were there when we needed them but otherwise we didn't see them, although I believe they live next door. Air conditioners in all rooms for cooling and the heater worked great on one cold morning and warmed the place up in no time.

Want to take your time on departure day? Just let us know and you can enjoy a late checkout. Come for hiking, skiing, bird watching or a cozy weekend with your loved one. You'll be in the Catskills in an historic one-bedroom cottage (circa mid-1800s) on the stream in Palenville N.Y.
Have your morning coffee on the deck as you listen to the birds before heading down the path to the Kaaterskill creek, right in your backyard. The cottage has a large bedroom with a queen size bed, a quaint living room and a spacious country kitchen that opens to a large wrap around deck. All rooms are light filled and bright.
Palenville is considered America's first art colony and is enjoying a renaissance as a vacation destination. "Creekside" is easy walking distance to the Circle W, an upscale general store and deli, as well as the public library and the best local swimming holes. Local dining is available at the Rip Van Winkle Country Club (open to the public) and the Fernwood Restaurant. Saugerties, Woodstock, Hunter, Hudson, and Catskill are each about 20 - 25 minutes away.
  • Very, cozy, comfortable and rustic. It is close to Tannerville, Kaaterskills fall and many more hiking spots. Hunter mountain is close as well. Would recommend staying here.

  • Great space for a small group. Beautiful home that's warm and had everything we needed for a long weekend.

    Ercan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful property with hosts that have clearly paid immense attention to detail throughout the entire house! First, they prepared the place perfectly for my toddler and infant. Crayons, markers and coloring books awaited my family upon arrival (which my toddler found even before we did!), child-friendly kitchen wares abounded, a baby bouncer in the closet for the infant, and even baby-friendly shampoo was prepared for us! Second, amenities were well thought out with everything (and more) than we could have expected. Oatmeal ready for breakfast because we were too disorganized with kids to get our act together the first morning of our stay, AC and tons of ventilation to throughout the house, opportunities to plug in and recharge your phones right by bedside, and tons of clean linens and towels throughout! Third, the space was just absolutely perfect for our family. Comfortable living room space, huge dining room table perfect for meals, and top of the line, envy-worthy appliances in the kitchen. My older daughter was so sad when we had to leave, she is already asking us when we can go back!

    Daniel2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Jane for your outstanding hospitality and making the space very warm. This quaint cabin is definitely perfect for an intimate sized group. Highly recommend!

  • I really enjoyed my stay and felt the hosts went above and beyond in their thoughtfulness. It was clean, airy and well laid out. We did go with small children so we brought our own baby gates and pack n play. The location was perfection, across the street from one of the best parts of the creek. The house was exactly as described and had a fenced in yard, perfect for letting the kids play. If available, I plan on renting it again next year.

    Will2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, cozy home in a cute town just a short drive to nearby hiking trails, the lake for kayaking, and Hunter Mountain. The house is a few minute walk from main street, where you can pick up any necessities you might need at the Dollar General or the Circle Market. The creek in front of the house was a great place to hang out in the afternoon. Everything was just as pictured, and I would absolutely stay here again!

  • Such a lovey cottage for a weekend escape in the Catskills. Really close to a lot of wonderful hiking trails. The well stocked kitchen allowed for easily cooking home-cooked meals every night, but we did enjoy a nice lunch at the Circle W General Store. The wood burning stove and the wonderful selection of books made it difficult to leave this cozy, comfy cottage. Thank you Gail for being such a lovely host.

    David2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best, if not the best, Airbnb stays we have had. Gails house is spotless, so comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for us, 30 minutes so Windham Ski Resort and 20 minutes to Woodstock. I would return to the Green Cottage in a heartbeat. Thank you, Gail, for an amazing stay!

    Anita2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gail's cottage is a stylish, cozy, fully-stocked Catskills getaway. We escaped from the city for some winter cabin vibes and Gail's place does not disappoint. We had a fire keeping us warm in the wood-burning stove, made blueberry waffles in the waffle-maker, grilled burgers one night on the grill, wrote for hours in the studio, and enjoyed walks on nearby trails. Gail has thought about everything, and the thoughtfulness made this a hotel-like stay for us. We especially Gail's explicitly warm welcome to queer travelers like us and her accommodating our pet. We hope to return soon!

  • You couldn’t possibly not LOVE this place!! It’s charming, full of authentic Catskill and Art Deco goodies. Warm, cozy, comfortable. Good kitchen. GREAT tub and shower (in two separate bathrooms)! Accessible to others, but not in the center of a village. Very private.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and we werent exactly sure what to expect. We were looking for a place to stay in the Hunter area. Hunter resort is about 15 minutes by car. Anita and Steve were very quick to respond to any questions we had leading up to our rental. We were greeted by Anita within moments of our arrival. From the moment we entered, it was obvious the owners were willing to go the extra mile to make our stay first rate. The first thing we noticed was a welcome note spelled out on a Scrabble board. Little details like this were discovered throughout the home that showed they cared. The place was immaculate, appliances were modern, bathroom was clean and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Our expectations were exceed in every way. Thanks again to Anita and Steve. We would surely look to rent again if we are in the area and would highly recommend your home to anyone looking for a place to stay.

  • Very clean, cozy, warm, and thoughtfully decorated with gracious host

    Tayo2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the nicest Airbnb's I have ever stayed in. Anita and Steve should give lessons to other Airbnb owners on how to do it right. Clean, comfortable, cozy, recently renovated. The level of care is apparent in so many details, from the comfortable bedding, to the gourmet kitchen, the cute writing desk, the games, a walking stick by the back door, towels for the hot tub, and even some wood thoughtfully left for the fire pit. The appliances are new and top grade. It was as clean as can be. Anita and Steve were almost instantaneous with their communications. There is a push button lock, so check in was simple. When I arrived I was hungry and delighted to find local apples thoughtfully left in a bowl for my arrival. I was totally charmed by this place.

    Andrew2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great. They communicated with us to let us know what was in the area store wise. House was very clean. Bed was comfortable and having a hot tub was awesome.

This charming, stationary, and extra clean camper sits at the back of our property, overlooking the Kaaterskill Creek. You can hear the nearby water fall and birds chirping from the bedroom and watch the infamous Catskill light change the scene throughout the day. An easy stroll takes you down to the stream for wading, swimming, and watching wild life. It is a great experience for adults and children.
We love the sound of the stream and the infamous Catskill light.
This amazing hamlet offers unlimited outdoor experiences- local hiking trails access the Kaaterskill wild forest, biking through quiet neighborhoods and closed streets, and stream swimming. There is a great breakfast and lunch spot, The Circle W, and a dinner spot, The Fernwood. Nearby Dollar General and Story Farm farm stand make cooking incredible meals a breeze.
  • This lovely little camper is private and backs onto beautiful woods with a footpath down to the stream. You can hear the water from inside and it's beautiful. Chill, convenient check-in with no fuss. I'm so glad I stayed here and I'll absolutely stay again if I'm in the area.

    Rebecca2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice stay at the Creekside Camper! The location is great for hiking and casual dining. The Kaaterskill Falls hike was especially lovely, and Scott made a great recommendation for Rip Van Winkle Brewery pizza. As others have said, Circle W is close by and a great spot for coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, and local fare. We really enjoyed campfires by the stream, where there is a fire ring. It was really helpful to have an ax (we brought one- I didn’t see one at the property, but I may have overlooked it) to break up the wood/kindling for ease of fire starting. The RV is cozy and had the dishes we needed. It was easy to find the property. Scott was very responsive. Thanks for the stay!

  • Lovely peaceful spot. Really appreciated the efforts Scott took to provide eco-friendly products in the camper.

  • A lovely getaway for my solo writing sabbatical. The creek at the back and the many trails and hikes In The adjacent reserve we’re a tonic. The camper was cosy and functional. Scott’s communication was on point. A lovely stay and I would recommend it.

  • Scott and Eva's place was exactly what my partner and I were looking for after deciding last-minute to go on hiking in the Catskills. Although the camper is relatively close to their house, it feels secluded and completely alone thanks to a great privacy fence. The area is quiet at night and the bed super comfortable, we slept straight through! And the touches around the trailer were adorable, from flowers to fresh bagels for our breakfast. :) Being given a tour by Scott & Eva's daughter was the icing on the cake, super cute, super sweet, and super informative! The camper is great for anyone looking for a budget-friendly, no-frills experience that's clean, tranquil, low-key, and from very kind people.

Located in the foothills of the Catskill mountains. miles of beautiful scenic hiking trails out your front door. You will have the whole place to yourself, 1 bedroom upstairs, living area with futon, full equipped kitchen, bathroom, and large backyard with fire pit, grill & picnic table. Firewood is available to purchase on site. Front door parking, private entrance, nice quiet getaway. Close to many family friendly activities.
This building is part of Evertt Shinn's scottish style castle. It was built in the early 1900's. This particular section was used as the servants quarters. It has been remodeled while still keeping some original aspects. The floors may creak & the doors may squeak but thats what gives it character!
Very private, located at the end of the road.
  • A very cozy getaway. And a surprising zoo next door!

    Sarah2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely older space, the house was a bit hard to find in the middle of the night but you shouldn’t have an issue if you arrive during the daylight. The location is quite interesting as it’s next to a zoo (and if you’re lucky you can catch a glimpse of the tiger(s)!) The house may not have all the glitz and glam of a modern apartment but it’s definitely got personality. The host was easy to contact for any questions and was eager to show us around the property, but unfortunately we didn’t have the time. I’d recommend this home to anyone staying in the area (we were skiing at Hunter Mtn and it was the perfect distance - highly recommend Selena’s Diner for breakfast on the way to the mountain).

  • Had a fabulous trip with some family this past weekend. The property was wonderful and set back in the woods, which made for a fun winter retreat and playing outdoor games in the snow. We were also able to go hiking on a nearby trail that was walkable from the house. The space far exceeded our expectations, and was perfect for a few couples. The kitchen space was incredible, and we managed to do a lot of cooking with ease over the weekend. The highlight was certainly the back porch, which we would like to come back during the summer months so we can fully enjoy! Such a beautiful house and peaceful retreat for a weekend. Highly recommend!

  • The Bluestone Lodge is stunning! The location is easy to get to but with an adventurous feel, up a winding drive through the woods along a brook. The lodge is classic on the outside with a rustic feel, but inside is completely refreshed, comfortably elegant and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is large and very well appointed, with everything you need to prepare meals. The living room is spacious with a lot of comfortable seating, and the huge stone fireplace is an amazing focal point, great to warm up a cozy evening. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern and nicely done. The outside porch has thick stone walls and screens, and spans the entire back side of the lodge; there are several different relaxing and dining areas, and an elevated view (through the trees) of the Hudson valley. From the lodge, there is a network of paths through the woods that you can use to enjoy the quiet and even discover small waterfalls. We used the lodge for a family group, and there was plenty of room for people to either gather together in a big group or spread out into smaller conversations. It was the perfect place for us, and I would highly recommend!

  • We had the most marvelous stay at your gorgeous home. Gaye has impeccable taste and every detail throughout the home was admired and appreciated by our crew. We have all been best friends for about 30 years and we go away twice a year together. This was one of our most memorable stays and houses. We will definitely be back!!

  • Bluestone Lodge was the perfect location for a weekend away from the city. This place is flawlessly decorated with a comfortable feel - it's gorgeous! You truly feel like you're in the woods yet are only half hour drive from the town of Hudson. The screened in porch is a dream <3

  • Angela and John’s place is exactly the kind that you’d want for an out-of-town getaway and memorable experience. It’s cozy, comfortable, and private. It’s also conveniently close to all of the main stores (by car.) When we arrived it was perfectly clean by our standards and there were plenty of cleaning supplies available to do your own additional tidying if you’re more particular. The bathroom is super spacious, well lit, and the shower has glass doors which are more ideal for an intimate stay. The kitchen is a perfect size for cooking a meal or two and the miniature refrigerator holds more than you’d expect! There are plenty of dishes available so that you really don’t need to bring anything from home. The living room area lets in a lot of natural light which feels so inviting during the day time. The porch area is also really nice for sitting and relaxing at your leisure. Bedroom is very cozy and has sliding doors for added privacy within the cottage itself. Overall a it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the area for a weekend!

Our house was a historic cottage, built in the 1880s. We built a new house around the cottage. We are Artists and our guest bedrooms are in a sense galleries. Guests have the entire second floor, 2 bedrooms, perfect for couples who are traveling together & families with teenagers. The back is the private entrance to the stairs. We live on a quiet and pleasant dead end street. The views of the Catskills & gardens are awesome. Located near Hunter Mountain Festivals, Woodstock & Katterskill Falls.
The Main Bedroom is new construction with amazing views of the Catskills through a wall of windows. There is a Queen size bed with a "kitchenette" area (small refrigerator, a toaster oven and a Keurig coffee maker. There is a table with 4 chairs for dining. Note:? There is a patio door that has no balcony (yet). Please do not open! The older (cottage) bedroom has a full size futon, a flatscreen TV with Apple TV. For those who don't watch TV, guests have access to owners collection of art books. There is a laundry area with ironing board, and a large dresser to store your clothes (top 2 drawers, there are more sheets in the bottom 2). We have an antique desk perfect for laptops (WIFI is provided). The guest closet is in the second bedroom on the left. Both bedrooms have air conditioners and fans.
We live on a quiet and pleasant dead end street. In the morning we wake up hearing birds and the distant sound of roosters, the sight of ducks and geese on the pond below. The views of the historic Catskills from the second floor bedrooms are awesome.
  • Margaret and Peter are wonderful hosts! The space is great - comfortable and well decorated with thoughtful conveniences. They’re just about 20-30 minutes from Hunter. Get the quiche!

    Lizzy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Margaret’s. We loved her quiche and found the location to be convenient and quiet, like we had hoped.

    Cathy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret's house is absolutely lovely, it was a pleasure to stay there. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated (the hosts are artists) with art. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. Margaret was an absolutely lovely host: her communication was great, she was very attentive and she baked us two delicious quiches on arrival! Would leap at the chance to stay here again.

    Nathan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret is absolutely a gem! What a beautiful soul. She made us the best quiche right when we arrived. I loved the house vibe and how she makes you feel right at home. I would for sure re-book!

    Jerold2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were looking to escape the city for the long weekend, and Margaret's guest suite was just what we needed. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated, with high ceilings and a great selection of books and information on nearby attractions. In the mornings, we loved taking in the scenic view from the chaise lounge after enjoying the delicious quiche Margaret prepared for us. Margaret and Peter were very welcoming and gave us great recommendations for our hikes and activities (we loved Opus 40!). I wouldn't change a thing from our experience. Thank you :)

  • Had a great stay with Margaret. The place was warm and cozy in the beginning of November. The rooms were thoughtfully decorated and comfortable. The included breakfast with different marmalades and spreads were tasty. We appreciated Margaret’s warm hospitality.

  • Rocky Ledges was a beautiful and peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle! Near the end of a dead end road, nestled in the rolling hills and rocky outcropping s, this gem of a rental was even more lovely in person! The vaulted ceilings and abundant large windows gave a light, airily feel. Watching sunrise light up the mountains as geese fly in to land on the pond, sipping coffee and reading in the chaise, snuggling in the cozy bed...many nice memories of our Catskills weekend! Margaret’s quiche was so delicious and a wonderful extra touch! Highly recommend this beautiful home to any who want a convenient location near the Catskills. 😄

Comfortable, peaceful, country feel in a modern layout. Three large bedrooms upstairs, a den/futon down, and a finished attic. Open plan, with spacious, well-equipped kitchen & a big living/dining room. 3 full baths & large mud room. Great sunrises and sunsets. It’s a special location: at the end of a quiet road, the property includes the foot of a beautiful cascade on the Kaaterskill Creek, and direct access to hiking up the mountain. We love dogs and will do our best to accommodate yours.
WiFi, jacuzzi, washer/dryer, and plenty of closet space. There is a Weber charcoal grill and a dining/relaxing area on a spacious outdoor patio.
There’s a great country restaurant and bar just down the street, and a wonderful coffee shop/general store across the Creek. Hiking, skiing, swimming, kayaking, are all a few minutes away.
  • We had a lovely time and I was only disappointed by the fact that it was too short—I had to go back to work. The house is absolutely pet-friendly and we were able to board her for the day at a Catskill Mountain Bed n Biscuit when we went to Hunter to ski. Hunter is just 20 mins away. Super easy! The house was perfectly cozy and luxuriously spacious at the same time. We loved the turntable and the collection of 60s/70s/80s folk and classic rock vinyl. It seemed so perfectly Hudson Valley somehow. The kitchen was the most well-prepped and ready-to-go with all we needed in order to cook. We also met a couple of the neighbors who were so friendly. We felt right at home! Our kids and puppy were certainly sad to leave & we’d love to go up again sometime soon.

  • We stayed at Robert's place for a long weekend as a base to go skiing in the nearby mountains. The house was exactly as described in the listing. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could need for cooking and the entire house and rooms was clean and well kept. We enjoyed staying at Robert's place very much and would definitely stay again when in the area.

  • We had a perfect stay at Robert's home. I traveled with 2 families and the attic space was perfect for the kids! The house was clean, well kept, stocked with everything that you may need for your stay. The location is great, just a short drive from beautiful Kaaterskill Falls. We hope to make it back this summer!

  • Came here for my birthday weekend with my girlfriend and we had such a lovely time staying in Kelly’s beautiful place. There aren’t enough words to describe how great this haven is in regards to every aspect and we were genuinely sad we couldn’t stay an extra few nights. The home baked treats in the morning alongside breakfast with a great view, the warm fireplace in your cozy room with more views, the extremely comfortable bed (I have back issues and am very picky) the attention to detail from outside to inside made this such a memorable experience. Lastly our host Kelly was so accommodating, warm and hospitable, she took the time to talk with us over breakfast and tell us about all the local insider tips from hiking to restaurants. Highly recommended for a one of a kind experience.

    Michael2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • My stay here was nothing short of amazing. From the minute I arrived I was treated as a friend. The house was absolutely beautiful and was as clean as a whistle. The touches and finished in the house were stunning. It felt so personable, almost like I was at home. My bedroom was bright, modernish, and had a gas fireplace with a full bathroom. The breakfast was to die for!! Super delicious and made with love. I can't wait to come back and stay again.

    Nathaniel2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • absolutely amazing escape from the city! We had a great time hiking and exploring local towns with the help of Kelly's expert local tips. In addition, she made a mouthwatering apple cinnamon gluten free bread for me for breakfast (I have celiac so am used to just missing out on morning pastries)! Had to ask for the recipe because it was so good. Between the hospitality, cleanliness and location, we will definitely be back in the future!

A cozy private guest cottage on our 150 year old farm, nestled amidst lovely gardens and bordered by the ever-flowing Kaaterskill creek. Near to Saugerties, Woodstock, Catskill, and just down stream from the Kaaterskill Falls.
A beautiful, private guest cottage on a quiet back country road set amidst perennial gardens and meadows on the ever-flowing Kaaterskill creek within close proximity to Saugerties, Palenville, Woodstock, and Catskill (we are also only 20 minutes from Hunter Mountain for great skiing!). A lovely, sunny bedroom filled with books, a living room with a Vermont Castings propane wood-stove for cool evenings (or romantic ambience). The Cottage has a full bathroom, and a nice kitchen (stove/oven, microwave, fridge, sink), supplied with coffee and coffeemaker, a nice selection of teas, pots, pans, and cooking utensils. A private screened-in porch looks out over the back gardens down towards the creek where you will find a cabin and a treehouse (which you are welcome to hang out in, and the waterfalls, the sound of which will lull you to sleep at night). Wifi, TV with DVD (and loads of great movies), or Netflix instant via Roku player. The Cottage also has a laundry-room with a washer and dryer, if needed. Stroll the extensive gardens and meadow, cool off in the creek or hang out with a good book in the cabin or the treehouse, or have a fire in the fire pit. Visit one of Palenville's many nearby swimming holes, hike the mountains (10 minute drive to Kaaterskill Falls), or in winter, ski at nearby Hunter Mountain (20 minutes). 10 minutes to both Saugerties and Catskill, 20 minutes to Woodstock and Kingston. 5 minutes to Palenville. The Cottage is located on our 150 year old farm, and was once part of an extensive turn of the century summer camp. We have a number of cats and heartily welcome guests with pets. All our buildings are filled with books, so read on! We are both fairly recent ex-New Yorkers; artists, musicians, writers, animal lovers, and gardeners and very respectful of privacy. There is also a separate driveway and parking spot for the cottage.
Our neighborhood is peaceful. Most of our neighbors are ex-New Yorkers like us who have found this beautiful and peaceful place and don't want to leave. Lovely walks in any direction you go, all on very quiet one lane back country roads. Mountain vistas, a Beaver pond, and waterfalls all abound within easy walks from the cottage. You can also just chill out in the cabin by the creek and watch the water go by... Or in the new treehouse!
  • fun place. wouldn't recommend the house for someone super tall.

  • The pictures don’t do Harry’s cottage justice. It’s super funky, cute, and charming. The space is tiny but perfect for a couple. We always feel like we can barely use the space of some of these larger (and much more expensive) Airbnb’s. The property is awesome and Harry was super communicative and nice. Highly recommended!

    Mary2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, amazing garden, close to Woodstock and nearby hikes. Harry is super friendly and hospitable. We enjoyed our trip thoroughly and my dog loved running around his big back yard.

  • We had a very cozy weekend and enjoyed everything very much. It was exactly what we needed! Lots to do in the area. We explored woodstock, nearby tibetan buddhist monastery, went skiing. Made some delicious meals. Wish we had more time!

    Kathy2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Harry's place is beautiful! Me and my friend stayed in the winter, so it was a bit too cold for us to fully enjoy the outdoors of the property. But the cottage is cozy enough, the closest town has a lot to explore, and the environment of the Catskills was so beautiful that we never felt like we were missing out at any point. Harry was always accommodating, including when we thought we would have an extra guest, but they had to cancel last minute. He put out extra bedding and was incredibly understanding when we had a change of plan. I highly recommend staying with Harry and I hope to return sometime when it's warmer!

    Shalemar2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • After the first holiday we spent together at Harry's, we vowed to make it a tradition of the season. Well, a wedding, two master's degrees (well, almost 2!!), and an 8-month old baby later, and we just made our FOURTH visit to Harry's place!! Cozy and warm in the cottage or outdoors by the (rapidly rolling) stream, there is no better way to spend a lazy winter day. So many memories here, and are looking forward to the next time. Still haven't been here in the summer!

    AJ & Devin2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • First off, this is hands down the most adorable, quirky, peaceful home I’ve ever stayed at. It has a plethora of books, artistic touches around the place, and plenty of amenities. We didn’t get to cook, but there were plenty of spices and dishes to use if we had wanted to. Even the bathroom was stocked with everything you could think of (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tums, floss, etc)! When we first got there, we spent at least an hour looking around, admiring the antiques, the books, the decor. The bathroom has one of those old fashioned keys from Alice in Wonderland...little details like that were around the place. Outside has even more to explore; there’s a beautiful creek in the back with a treehouse, zen garden, chairs, and sculptures. The place is clean and cozy. I was very appreciative of the fireplace and heat—Despite it being freezing outside, the cottage was extremely warm and we were able to monitor the temperature to our liking. It was exactly what we were looking for; we wanted something close to nature and away from the hustle and bustle of cities and hotels. There was plenty of privacy, but Harry was also available if we needed him. We got to talk to Harry at the end and he was super chill and friendly. He was also very accommodating to us and easy going. There is SO MUCH to do here. The nearby town, Sagguerties (spelling may be wrong) is only a 15 minute drive and has a downtown area with plenty of cafes, shops, stores (make sure to stop by Love Bites...had to go two days in a row the food was so good). There are hikes and trails everywhere; not to mention historic sites like Opus 40. The people here are extremely polite and laid back, my boyfriend and I talked to so many locals and we couldn’t believe how friendly everyone was. Even hiking we had conversations with everyone we passed. The area around this Airbnb is gorgeous, filled with lovely people, and overall has plenty of activities to do. Next time we definitely want to do more hikes and check out the breweries and wineries. The fall season here was wonderful, and we have plans on coming back for the summer to do more outdoor activities. Overall, 10/10 recommend.

  • Marjorie and Melissa's Waterfall house provided a terrific stay for my friends and I over the holidays. We stayed for a long weekend, which was plenty of time to explore the local restaurants, wilderness, and relax by the waterfalls. Margie provided great tips for restaurants to visit and hikes to explore. When we asked for more mugs and champagne flutes to ring in the new year, Margie was quick to respond. She dropped off prosecco along with the flutes and provided mugs we could take home! She also treated us to lunch when we had an issue in one of the bedrooms. Thanks for a great stay!

Located at the base of the Kaaterkill Clove, The Arlington (1861) began as a boarding house. The current proprietors’ family purchased the house in 1970, and are only the third owners of the property. The open floor plan interior with modern amenities, and the 10 ft. deep sweeping wrap-around porch, create a relaxed vibe with old world charm. Hike to Kaaterskill Falls, North & South Lake, and ski Hunter Mountain.
Welcome to the Arlington, a historic house rental in Palenville, New York. Originally built during the Civil War as a summer retreat, this 4-bedroom self-catering property offers the quiet, space, and charms of the country. Located in the first art colony of America on the banks of the Kaaterskill Creek, the Arlington is a hassle-free homebase for exploring the region or hitting the local hiking trails. The Arlington is located on Main Street in Palenville, New York. This renovated Civil War Inn has a weeping willow in the front yard and a 10-foot deep wrap around porch with large dining table and chairs. The expansive great room (30×30) includes a kitchen with full-size fridge, four-burner stove, microwave, and overhead ceiling fans. The bright, sunny living room (27×20) has wide planked wood floors, period brass fans, and a decorative fireplace.
Palenville is a great location, centralized between Hunter, Woodstock, Saugerties, Catskill and Hudson, perfect for seeing everything the Catskills have to offer. The Circle W organic market is across the street offering healthy breakfast and lunch options, while The Fernwood and The Rip Van Winkle Country Club off fabulous dinners you can walk to. A couple miles from the house is Angela’s and The Rip Van Winkle Brewing Company, offering great Italian dishes and pizza, and their own beer including Palenville Pale Ale.
  • The place is amazing. Eight of us felt very comfortable in the spacious house. Plenty of room for everyone to sit around the table to eat, talk and play. A wonderfully eclectic mix of antiques, musical items and elephants.

  • The house is soo lovely!!! And Brian was really accommodating and a great communicator. FYI there are folks on the property and you connect to their space at the kitchen, but the house is so big it still feels very private.

    Jamie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Brian’s place. It was his old family home and the love that has gone in that house over the years was obvious. I’ve stayed in many airb&bs now that are just cynical rents, but Brian’s was the opposite. It felt like staying with friends. Big space, big kitchen, comfy clean bedrooms, and personal touches you just don’t normally get.. like a huge record collection to dig into. Also walking distance to the Circle W cafe, the best cafe in the area.

    Fred2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We felt transported in time to a different era at this house. Very spacious, with different spaces for our group to gather. We played the lovely records all weekend, cooked in the well stocked kitchen, and played games we found in the living room. Bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms were spotless. Had amazing breakfast meals at Circle W Market across the street. House is a short drive to Kaaterskill Falls hiking. It snowed during our stay and the snow was shoveled in the morning. Very memorable stay!

  • Great place! Quick response from Brian!

    Yuyun2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the Civil War house. The decor was really cool and gave it a fun atmosphere. A lot of space to lounge around the kitchen, living room/bar/music room, and bedrooms. Brian was quick to respond to any concerns. Just to bring up again the separation of another suite off of the kitchen. We could hear conversation on our first evening and we were worried we would disturb the other people. Brian assured me we wouldn’t. We did have a great time there and would recommend it.

  • It was such a pleasure to stay at Betty’s place. As guests we felt truly considered. Prior to arrival she sent us a welcome PDF with all the info we could need, including nearby shops to stock up for our week stay. The house feels really spacious, was exceptionally clean and well stocked, from kitchen cook wear (and good knives for the chefs out there) to really plush linens. Everything is organized, so it was easy to locate extra paper towels or laundry detergent. They thought of everything. We loved the mid century furniture, each room felt serene but modern. We spent a ton of time in the great room by the fireplace. They have a pool and poker table which gave us a chance to spread out in multiple entertainment areas. The mountain was a short drive away for snow boarding and tubing, which was great fun. It was an idyllic retreat for sure! I can’t recommend it enough.

  • We had a great stay at Betty's place. The house was sparkling clean and well equipped. We were two families and the house was spacious and comfortable for all of us. Betty was a great host and communicator. After we forgot our stroller in the house, she was extremely helpful in getting it back to us. Overall, highly recommended!

  • My family and I had a great weekend at this location. The house was as advertised, extremely clean and offered everything we needed. Check-in was easy, house was easy to find, and had nice character. Betty was a great host and responded to any questions we had. Overall great experience, thank you! Kyle

  • Gabe was very responsive and briefly introduced himself when we arrived. The house was very quiet and had everything we could’ve wanted. It was 45 mins to Windham to ski and a quick 15 min drive to Woodstock for brunch. We stayed in a lot and took advantage of the tv and kitchen!

    Kaitlyn2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gabe is an amazing host. He will think of providing you with things you couldn’t think of and is so quick with his responses, which is extremely helpful for too many reasons. His home is very beautiful, clean, and extremely well organised. Gabe answers your questions before you think of them. My friends and I travelled for skiing and his help made the trip a tremendous amount easier, and fun! We would all return to his home in the future, as should you.

    Shanaz2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Gabe’s place is perfect for a weekend getaway to upstate NY. We were there for skiing in Hunter mountains and was also able to explore nearby Saugerties and Woodstock area. The location is great for that. The place is much better in person I would say. Very clean, well stocked kitchen, great DVD collection, and tucked away in the woods. We had a great time and would definitely revisit!

    Sonam2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gabe's place is exactly as he describes. It's clean, has a lot of useful amenities (like an auto-light for outside the door when it's really dark), and overall we had a great experience.

    Peter2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gabe’s place was exactly what we wanted and expected for our winter getaway. Check in was super easy and the place was spotless and just as described and pictured. He went out of his way to say hello and shovel the steps and deck. Had a very nice conversation and felt comfortable staying in his place. I would definitely recommend and would love to stay there again if he’d have us!

    Maurice2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy home great ammenties for cooking . Host was accomadating with check in time and with guest. Responds promptly to messages.

    Katherine2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this place. It is convenient for skiing at Hunter and relaxing with excellent meals at restaurants nearby in Woodstock. Gabe was an excellent host.

    Betty2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Gabe's place was very neat and clean. It was extremely comfortable for two couples. We stayed here two nights; went out to a restaurant (Cucina - 15 mins away) in town the first night and enjoyed the grill on the second night. The kitchen is well equipped with all basic necessities. There are board games but we had carried our own and stuck to those. Heat worked well - only down side was that the room on the bottom floor has a heat vent and since its a small room it got extremely warm really fast due to which we ended up feeling hot at night - left the window slightly open the second night which made it comfortable. Location - Great location. We drove to Kaaterskill falls (25 mins away) for a short hike. Town of Woodstock is only 15 mins away. After sunset, the surroundings are very dark and quiet.
