What Past Guests Are Saying: "First of all, no way was I expecting the chalet to have everything you needed. I was going to put it to the test. You PASSED. Everything you can imagine you would need, is there. Second, I was skeptical about having privacy or peace and quiet. It was so quiet a pin drop would be too loud. Absolutely private and quiet, we felt very safe. Third, My Husband said jesh, this is cleaner than most hotels we've stayed at. Overall we gave it "11" we will be back." -Gary and Sue V. "Lynn, Well we just got back and the first thing I had to do was e-mail you and let you know what a terrific time we had. I contacted you in hopes of finding somewhere we could get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and we got just that. Your Chalet is absolutely amazing, it was exactly what the doctor ordered. From the moment we arrived to the saddened departure it was absolutely the best time we have had in a very long time. Your directions were exact and everything worked out exactly as planned. There was nothing better than sitting on the front deck with a glass of wine listening to nothing for a change, it was The touches of home did nothing but add to that feeling and it was amazing. Thank you from both of us for allowing us to stay at your wonderful get away, I can absolutely assure you that we will be contacting you again soon many times. Finally again thank you very much we had an amazing weekend, if you EVER consider selling your property PLEASE let me know, seriously there is not a place in the world that can fulfill exactly what we were looking for like yours did." -Nick A. "What a wonderful place! I have now stayed here twice and can't wait to go back. The chalet is in a perfect location nestled in the hills and not far from great hiking, restaurants and adventure. Whether a long weekend or a week, well worth it!" -Guest Review from erik "I just wanted to leave you an email that I forgot to send a long time ago. My girlfriend and I went up there the weekend of July 21st just to get away for the weekend. What she didnt know is that after having a wonderful day horseback riding and enjoying downtown Luray I was going to propose to her. So at sunset after a wonderful dinner I proposed to her on your deck of the chalet. We had a wonderful time, loved the location, loved the chalet and would definitely go back. Thank you again!" -Jeff B. "Just right!!! We have rented many cabins in many different areas. This cabin was just right. It felt very much like home. Some cabins are too rustic, or have to many unnecessary luxuries. This cabin, met in the middle, I did not pay extra for things I did not need, and yet was very comfortable." -Len and Ri from Longwood FL "Wonderful cabin, great price! Everything you need in this nice little cabin get-away. Surrounded by woods and wildlife. Great quite place to get away, enjoy nature, see deer, and take pictures. They had everything you could think of from dishes & coffee to DVD movies. Highly recomended. Great price. Only minutes from Skyline Drive and many caverns." -Guest Review from JGdesigner "My fiance and I spent Halloween weekend in your cabin. It was beautiful! I was impressed with how stocked the place is. it was just like being at home! We visited Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive while in the area, and the cabin was convenient to both. We just wanted to thank you for sharing your cabin with us. We hope to return soon!" -Tanika M. "Nice getaway. This chalet was exactly as described. The location was beautiful and the house was clean and very affordable. Thanks for the hiking suggestions as it was too warm for skiing. Lots to do in nearby Luray too." -Guest Review from kreay "Perfect and affordable Place to Get-A-Way from the Hussle and Bussle. We have stayed at the Chalet twice and just love it. The price is right and the house is spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We have used it as a get-a-way in the winter to leave the hectic pace of DC and love that there's no cable, internet, or cell phone coverage... we bring dvd's, lots of food and drink, hike during the day and cook and relax at night. This past trip, we hit a couple of close wineries, which was just a perfect touch. Highly Recommend!" -Guest Review from dmiller "Wonderful vacation in the historic Shenandoah. Being a Virginian any chance to travel the Shenandoah Valley is a pleasure. Rarely, due to work schedules, have my wife an I been able to stay for more than a day or two. This time I had seven whole days. I believe this was the first site that I visited yet it seemed to have all that I was looking for to relax and explore in detail parts of the Valley. Where else but among the folks of the valley could you arrive and check in with such ease. The setting is as beautiful as described with a wonderful view of the mountains saying good night at sunset and to awaken us at sunrise. The chalet was a delight with every thing we would need. Even phone service was provided since cell service is spotty at best. Being from the Washington area the last thing we needed was blaring media news. We came to the Shenandoah to get away from that. We used the chalet as a base camp to explore from Waynesboro to Winchester. Seven days of perfect weather did not hamper things while hiking the Skyline but even a steady rain would have been fun here. This is a great place inhabited by wonderful people. We will be back. We really did not want to leave today. Regards, Wilson F. Gaithersburg, MD." -Guest Review from urspider68 "Thank you very much for your help with the cabin last weekend. We had a very nice time, the skiing was great, and the beds were very comfortable (after skiing, that is important!). So thank you very much and have a great weekend!" -Nathanael "Wonderful winter getaway. Myself and a couple of girlfriends spent a weekend at the chalet. What I liked about it was that they had comfortable furnishings and yet felt like it belonged in the woods. It was quiet and peaceful. When looking for a place what stood out about the chalet was that we would be able to walk to a hiking trail within Shenandoah - and we did that while we were there. I would definitely go back again and would recommend it." -K. A. from Globe Trekker "I just wanted to drop you a note and let you know we had a pleasant stay at your cabin. The place was very clean and you thought of everything we need in the kitchen and bathroom. It was nice and relaxing to come back to such a nice place after our ski trip. This was a memorable Christmas for our family. We would definitely like to go back in the future." -Yunhui & Family "We had a most pleasant time at your Shenandoah chalet the past week. The accommodations/facilities were superb. We had a peaceful and quiet vacation and the weekday cost to rent was very fair. We also visited Massanutten Ski area for some snowtubing, Hiking to Rapidan Hoover Camp in Shenandoah National Park, The Mt. Powell hiking trails near your chalet, and on the way back home, we visited Montpelier - home of James Madison. Thank you for the opportunity to rent your most wonderful vacation home! We plan to rent your chalet again in the future. We look forward til the next time." -Pio G. "Lovely, quiet refuge from the craziness of urban life! This chalet is quiet, comfortable, and outfitted with everything we needed for a lovely long summer weekend. We had two teenaged boys with us, and they loved sharing the loft upstairs, away from us adults in the bedroom on the first floor. The chalet was outfitted with all the cookware we needed to prepare several different kinds of meals. The bathroom is roomy, clean, and came with plenty of towels for all of us. We enjoyed the quiet of sitting on the decks, sipping our morning coffees or just reading in peace and stillness. Overall, a delightful rental property, and we would request it again in a heartbeat." -Cynde from Oak Hill, VA "I wanted to send you a note and thank you for a wonderful stay at your cabin. We really enjoyed our vacation. You have a lovely cabin! I even saw some hummingbirds at your flowers outside and found a four leaf clover in the front yard. I miss it already! It is so peaceful there. ... Hope to stay again." -Jennifer B. "Just wanted to let you know we had a great time at your chalet. It was the most relaxing vacation we have every had. You had the place stocked with everything needed. It was just like being at home. I had brought things from home and you already had them there. The view of the mountains was spectacular. We will definitely be renting it again." -Wanda and John B. "Just a quick note to say that we had another awesome experience at the Chalet. The ability to unplug from cell phones, emails, and the constant news cycle so prevalent in DC just multiplies the relaxation factor... we are vowing not to let 3 years pass again before returning and maybe stay when the weather is a little warmer, even though the 6-8 inches of snow on Thursday was so beautiful and the perfect addition to the fire in the fireplace and the Christmas carols on the Ipod! (Not to mention the glass of wine in hand!) And I can't remember the last time that I started and finished a booked in 3-4 days! Our best to you and Steve for a wonderful holiday and a very happy New Year!" -David M. "Just wanted you to know how much we enjoyed our stay in the chalet. Everything was perfect and sitting on the deck, listening to the birds and the wind in the trees, was heaven. And I have to say that we've never rented a condo or cabin as well equipped as yours - just wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for sharing." -Ann D. "We had a wonderful time in your cabin. It was so attractively and comfortably furnished. We loved watching the sun set behind the mountain from the deck and watching the resident rabbit nibbling on the grass in the back." -Alice S. "We absolutely LOVED our stay. What a lovely cabin! Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and pampered. Having pancakes with fresh maple syrup and delicious coffee while looking out at the beautiful mountains will be one of my favorite memories. We will definitely be recommending your beautiful cabin to our families and friends. Thanks you so much for everything!" -Christine C. "Our stay at the chalet was lovely, thank you. It was comfortable, extremely well appointed, and the little touches of hospitality (pancake mix and firewood) were much appreciated. I would definitely recommend the chalet to others." -J.M. "We had the most wonderful time in the cabin over the weekend. My mother and I absolutely loved it-- both the breathtaking views and the very comfortable interior. We hope to come back!" -Natalia B. "The cottage was great. We had a wonderful time.... We are both mountain folks by heart just not location, so it was nice to get away for a while." -Julie S. "Just got home and wanted to send you an email letting you know that Monica and I had wonderful weekend at your Chalet. It was so relaxing, and we fell in love with your place. We most certainly will be visiting again. It was fantastic!!!!" -John and Monica "I just wanted to thank you for the days that we spent at your chalet. We had a very good time and it was exactly what we were looking for. Everything was perfect! Hopefully we'll be back soon." -Hernan "Everything was superb - the linens, bed, nice couch, wonderful magazines, nice landscaping, grill, views. we spent a lot of time out on the deck, reading and just enjoying the remote-ness and beauty. thanks again." -Lalong "Just a thank you for allowing us the privilege of enjoying the hospitality of your chalet. The pancake mix was a great addition to our mornings on the panoramic deck. It was a wonderful weekend for us both and are planning a return trip sometime later. Take care and thanks again for a most enjoyable stay in the mountains." -Melissa and Daniel "Your Chalet was absolutely fabulous. My wife and I could not have asked for a more cozy place for our anniversary. The bay window sealed the deal, its going to be hard for me to top this next year. Thank you again." -Aaron W. "Just wanted to drop a quick note to say we had a fabulous time and your chalet is beautiful! thanks a bunch!" -Jamie "My uncle, Harry Robinson, rented your cabin this past weekend for my sister, her husband, my husband and me. We are from NC and since he was married Sunday, he wanted us to be close by. (His house is also on Overlook Mountain Road) We really enjoyed our stay in your chalet. My husband and I stayed in the loft and loved the openness of it and enjoyed the deck. Once we arrived Friday night, we didn't leave Overlook Mountain Road until Sunday morning!" -Lori "I wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed our stay at your cabin. My wife and I were both due for a much needed getaway from our jobs and your cabin made a nice home base for sightseeing around the area and the park." -Jim Z. "Truly wonderful experience, especially for our honeymoon! Our stay was amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better cabin or a better location. It was great to get away and not have to worry about a thing." -Heather from Cumberland, MD "Lil Chalet in the woods. Very comfy, was heated and warm when we arrived at 2am. Keys were exactly where we were told we would find them. Very nice for 2 couples wanting to get away from it all. Kitchen was excellent for cooking, very comfy bedding." -Sandy from Levittown PA "My fiance and I were here for a week and loved it. Price is very good, clean, open space." -Ramish from Chicago "Romantic and Relaxing. The Shenandoah Chalet is a place we'd like to retire to... cozy, comfortable, and clean. I forgot peaceful - really peaceful. We enjoyed our entire experiences, our pancake breakfasts, our hikes, our all-night game of scrabble. It's going back to simpler times without shopping, traffic or craziness. When can we move in?" -Jackie & family from Rockville, MD "Excellent getaway choice near Shenandoah National Park. The Shenandoah Chalet is a very good choice as a home base for exploring the Shenandoah Valley or the National Park. Many other interesting places to explore are nearby, with Charlottesville and Monticello about an hour away. The chalet is situated a few miles from the Western park border northeast of Elkton Virginia and convenient to Skyline Drive and, further South, the Blue Ridge Parkway. Although some might see it as a disadvantage, the Chalet is rather isolated, well off the beaten path several miles off Highway 340. However, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet when not out sightseeing. The Shenandoah Chalet is perfect for a quiet getaway and would easily accomodate 3-4 people. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen with a great variety of cooking utensils. The loft bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed and the small downstairs bedroom could accomodate another person or couple. The owners were very helpful, answering our email questions very promptly. Highly recommended!" -Boilermaker_91 from Oxford, Indiana "Romantic anniversary getaway. The cabin was incredible, The morning view when you wake up is breath taking. We enjoyed it very very much." -Happy Hearts from Richmond, VA "Pre-Baby Get away. My wife and I rented the Chalet while my was pregnant just as a getaway before my son came. The cabin is very charming and we had everything that we needed. There is an awesome view from the front of the cabin. Further, you can hear the nearby stream in the background. A very picturesque setting. I would definitely recommend this to anyone as a quiet getaway in the hills." -Zee from Silver Spring, MD "The cabin was really peaceful and easy to find, spending three nights there after our wedding in the area. We explored nearby swimming holes and flea markets and had a wonderful stay." -Leia P. "Wonderful cabin. Exactly as described. Even with the huge storm that moved through we didn't lose power unlike the neighboring town. which was great. Would recommend to anyone." -Frank C. "Just as advertised. I would recommend to a friend." -David N. "What a beautiful place! Stunning house and we had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The house has everything you need and the directions make it easy to find. Lovely." -Laura F. "Great cabin and an enjoyable stay. Thanks!" -Jiasi C. "The place was very clean and cozy. It is in a really good location if you are interested in visiting Shenandoah National Park." -Lauren B. "My girlfriend and I had a wonderful, relaxing time this past weekend. The cabin had everything, all we had to bring was ourselves and food. I definitely recommend anyone who is interested in getting away for the weekend to stay here." -James B. • Such a perfect, quaint get away. The window in the A-Frame is the perfect view to wake up to. I never wanted to get out of bed.

  • Lovely, quiet space! Definitely would go back again.

    Carolynn2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin and a great location to get away from the city into nature. It's a short drive to the nearby town of Elkton, which has a nice coffee shop and other fun stores/restaurants. Lynn was friendly and quick to reply to questions. Overall, would recommend!

    Ryan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a charming chatlet near Shenandoah! Very clean! A great place to stay for a couple nights!

    Keenan2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, tidy , comfy bed with super soft sheets. Lots of kitchen facility for cooking. Great verandah for star gazing. The only noise we could hear was the cows mooing and the birds chirping.... and of course, at the bottom of the hill is Naked Creek flowing quietly on its way to the Shenandoah River. I highly recommend this cosy place if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle and need quiet time and peace. Real Zen head stuff. Bring what you need to to eat and drink as the shops are quite a distance away. Take a walk or drive up to the top of overlook mountain. The views are spectacular.

    Janice2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a few days with some friends at Lynn's mountain cabin to celebrate New Years 2020 and had a blast. The space is about an hour from Harrisonburg and Charlottesville with Massanutten about 20 minutes away. The cabin is secluded enough to feel out in the woods without being completely in the middle of nowhere, and has one of the best equipped kitchens we've seen in an AirBNB. The beds were comfortable and the loft has a great view out over the mountains. All in all a great value and a good time.

    Ross2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time at Lynn's house! She was extremely attentive and responsive to our messages, and the directions she provided on how to get around were so helpful. Data and cell signal for major providers do not work in or around the cabin, so the free wifi is helpful as well. We were looking for a secluded getaway however, so it worked out for us! Also she has every pot and pan you could imagine, was able to cook a full dinner every night we stayed there!

    Shalini2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cabin great for a getaway. Easy access to Shenandoah and the kitchen is remarkably well-equipped. Our time at Lynn’s was wonderful.

  • Thanks to Juergen and his wonderful cabin, I had a really relaxing stay. The personal touches and the space are very welcoming. If you're unfamiliar with the climate here, it can rain or become windy unexpectedly even in warm winters - so do yourself a favor and play it safe. And yes, as other reviews and the host has encouraged, you're much safer by taking a 4wd car, which I did and am glad I did. The roads to this cabin, and actually the Shenandoah/Luray area in general if you're exploring the area, wind around with uphills/downhills and gravel paths. The cabin's location is a great experience - you have wonderful views in the day, even when it's not sunny there's a cool fog rolling over the mountain. At night, lots of stars. It was the highlight having breakfast and coffee on the porch as well. Space was clean, and not too hot or cold during my winter stay. There's everything you need in the cabin as well. Not much cell service but great wifi, so that's no problem. Beds are clean and comfy, the sunroom is also a great highlight of the cabin. Juergen is also very responsive and informative. You can feel peaceful solitude without being too far from civilization. I would definitely recommend staying here if that's what you're looking for.

    Kristin2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet little place for everyone, scenic views and a nice uphill drive, winery right next to the main street and Massanutten isn’t to far away for some winter fun.

    Clay2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed ourselves very much!

    Shuran2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Juergen is an incredible host, he provided a wonderful getaway for my girlfriend & I. We had an amazing time in this beautiful space, he’s so hospitable and attentive. All the little touches to the home were fantastic. Getting out there was a fun time in itself, make sure you have 4WD or AWD because you have to go down a couple miles of unpaved, dirt roads that can be extremely steep at times but it was such a great time traversing the terrain.

  • Wonderful space with great ammenities! Very comfortable and relaxing place. Culin was a great host. He gave lots of helpful suggestions about local restaraunts/activities and responded to messages very quickly. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • If you're looking for a secluded getaway, this is the perfect place. The pictures are an exact representation of what to expect when you get there. The hot tub was already warmed and waiting for us, which was great after the long drive down. One thing to note though, is that you have to take all trash to a public trash disposal. The closest one is about a 30 minute drive, so be mindful of what you'll be throwing away, and the smells that may go with them.

    Devin2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic! Nestled in the middle of mountain trails and a beautiful river, we were never far from anything we wanted to do. The cabin itself was immaculately clean and the yard was very well kept. Needless to say, but the hot tub was spectacular! 10/10, will try and reserve again!

  • Honestly wish I could give Culin 6 out of 5 stars as a host. He’s incredibly attentive leading up to your stay as well as throughout it, then also gives you ideas on everything and anything close by to check out. The cabin itself has a relaxed, homey feel, and is clean and welcoming. I definitely want to stay there again.

  • My boyfriend and I loved our 2 night stay at Blue Moon Cabin! It was VERY clean and surpassed all of our expectations. Culin was an amazing host, he gave us so many great suggestions for the local attractions as well as very fast response times. It was the perfect private getaway while staying in Luray! Our only disappointment was that many of the local breweries and wineries are only open on weekends during this time of year, so we were unable to visit them during our stay. Fortunately, we picked up some wine from the local Walmart and had a great time enjoying the large front porch and rocker chairs at the cabin. (:

    Emily2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean place and had everything you needed for a cozy cabin getaway! Culin was great with recommendations and always prompt with check-in and responses. My mom, sister and I really enjoyed our time there. We went to Hawksbill Brewery one day and took a walk down to the river.

    Chase2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Culin was quick to respond and offered lots of local tips. The cabin was clean and well decorated. The hot tub and fire pit were really nice and overall, it was a fantastic trip.

    Lydia2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Culin’s cabin is amazing, it looks just like a magazine model, everything is well taken care of and the style is outstanding. It made me want to move to a cabin just as adorable as that, I loved the walls, the kitchen and all the details, I am for sure gonna try and go back with more time. My husband and I had a blast on his birthday getaway, especially enjoying the hot tub. Thank you Culin for everything.

    Cla2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • GREAT STAY. We loved staying at Culins cabin. It was very clean and the hot tub was amazing! There are great recommendations in the cabin for close hiking trails, food, and activities. We did the after hours zoo tour with Mark, the zoo owner, where we got to feed and pet the animals which was awesome! I would recommend this cabin to anyone heading up to the luray area.

    Jessica2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • GREAT getaway destination to disconnect from the craziness of day-to-day life. Culin offers a slew of local suggestions for food, activities, and adventures in the area. Extremely well kept and clean cabin for a whole family vacation!

    Steven2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first stay through Airbnb and I was not disappointed. Culins cabin was absolutely beautiful and very clean. The hot tub was such a nice touch after a long day of exploring. Culin let me know ahead of time that it would be best to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and I highly suggest the same. The driveway up to the cabin is very steep and made of only dirt and clay. We had such a great stay and hope to come back in the future!

    Leah2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay at Blue Moon Cabin. The cabin is comfortable and the interior is well laid out and easy to move around in. The kitchen is properly equipped and everything worked fine. The front porch was a nice place to spend time and enjoy the quiet and peaceful surroundings. Luray is an easy 15 minute drive and there are good grocery stores to pick up anything you may have left at home. All in all, a very nice stay.

In the heart of the Shenandoah mountains. 1 mile from White Oak Canyon and Old Rag. Perfect for the fly fisherman (lots of local streams or in the back yard is the Robinson River) or a nice quiet get-away for a couple. Once you park your car you can sit back and just listen to the river flowing in the back yard and enjoy a nice beverage next to the fire pit.
Shower, toilet and sink. Futon for sleeping. Refrigerator, microwave, 2 top hot pot, grill, cooking utensils, plates and silverware. Bring a pack and play for your baby. Or just sit outside and listen to the river flowing in the back yard.
  • Wonderful cabin, amazing location! Great amenities, including the fire pit!

    Abigail2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome property. Very close to some amazing trails!

    Joe2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The absolute cutest little cabin!! The shower and toilet area were separated from each other which was super nice, made getting ready with 2 people easier. The kitchen was perfect size, we used the grill and it worked perfect! They had a coffee maker/microwave/hot plate plus everything you need for cooking and serving. The hot plate cooks slow, but again, we were ok with using the grill! The cabin was clean and easy to find. The back yard was adorable with a seating area, fire ring and nice view of the woods and stream. We can’t wait to go back in the summer!

  • would definitely recommend staying here! christa was responsive and made the check-in process really easy. the cabin included plenty of cooking/eating utensils that i had forgotten to bring, plus the view of the stars at night was unbeatable.

  • Cute cabin in the woods next to a larger cabin. Christa was responsive and check-in was easy!

  • Christa is great and the place is great!!

    Ag2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is exactly as described as a perfect escape into the woods! We loved having a cozy place to stay for our hike up Old Rag. This is a fantastic location for exploring Shenandoah. Christa and her family were there if we needed anything, but honestly the cabin had everything we forgot ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

    Drew2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, very cozy. Squeaky clean. Beautiful back yard and area by the creek running by. The place is in a cellular dead zone but the unit has WiFi. Of note, this cabin is not entirely secluded, it is in the yard of another house. However, it was very comfortable and a really nice place to stay. Christa was a great host.

Beautiful cabin in private mountain community, perched in the trees with mountain views and short walk to the Shenandoah River.
The "Treehouse" is an A-frame cabin sitting on a hillside, surrounded by trees. When you are sitting in the house or on its huge deck, it feels as if you are perched in the trees. It is a one-room cabin, with loft and large exterior deck. The first floor is an open area, with living room, full kitchen and eating area, and bathroom. The second floor is a loft, accessible by ladder. There is a double bed on the loft and two double futons and one single (kid-sized) futon on the main level. Linens and towels: We ask that guests bring linens, if they are able to do that easily. We do not have laundry facilities onsite, so doing laundry is a high cost we want to avoid having to pass onto guests (approx 2hours at laundromat @$20 hour and cost of laundromat approx $10). We do have sheets and towels available for those that need them — just let us know in advance and we will make sure to have them available for you.
The Treehouse is located in the "Shenandoah Gap" community on a private mountain in Shenandoah, VA. As a Treehouse guest, you have full access to the Shenandoah Gap river access area, as well as to all common areas of the mountain (i.e., trails accessible off the road).
  • What a cute space to spend the weekend with nature! Felt so homey and comfortable! It was a smooth drive to the Luray Caverns and the trails. The surprise amenities, like some cooking ingredients was a plus! I would definitely come back!

    Jonah2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy place in a great secluded spot. Plenty of games, books, and videos to stay entertained while off the grid. Property was just what I expected, a pleasant experience from previous rentals.

    Michael2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful scenery, really does feel like you are in a tree!

    Brittany2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice stay. It finds itself off a gravel road, in a place where the houses are few and far between. Creating a nice secluded feeling, the house itself looks pretty neat too. The place was very clean, and there is lots of stuff around for entertainment, books, movies, board games, a coloring book etc... I think one of are favorites was the hammock. All of the amenities work very well, the bathroom is also very nice. The loft area is amazing, great view when looking out the bay windows at the front of the cabin and a nice view looking into the woods behind the cabin. Overall an awesome place and was better than I had expected it to be :) thank you!!

    William2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to getaway. Would recommend to anyone that wants to spend time in the Shenandoah area! Sally was a great host and responded very quickly. Great weekend in the treehouse!

    Erick2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was absolutely beautiful. We used the fireplace every single day, it was definitely the thing I loved the most. The kitchen was stocked so well we actually packed a bunch of things we didn’t need because they were provided. There were tons of games and movies to keep us occupied. Culin also made tons of great recommendations locally. He was very easy to reach and helpful. Truly a beautiful place to stay we had a great time.

    Nelda2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a great place to get away, Culin's place is fantastic! The location is wonderful - close to Shenandoah (we were able to go for a great hike) as well as Luray Caverns. The house itself is beautiful and so pleasant to stay in. We had a great time using the grill and the fireplace. Definitely planning on a return trip if we can. One thing to note is that the driveway is no joke - we got lucky that there was no ice/snow, but if there had been, our compact rental car would not have been able to make it up the hill!

  • This cabin is exactly what we were looking for! It was a perfect getaway! It’s secluded up a gravel road with mountain views surrounded by trees. It’s got a wrap around deck and screened in porch that’s so cozy. The inside of the cabin is everything you need! The kitchen is fully stocked, plenty of games for adults and kids, and anything else you would need. The fireplace was our favorite part! Culin was an excellent host; he was so helpful and informative and always quick to respond with any questions we had. We can’t wait to plan another getaway there.

  • If you're looking for a space you can show up and relax, this cabin is for you. All the little details are taken care of, with helpful notes laminated and placed everywhere to let you know how to use various appliances, where to put trash and dishes, and you don't have to go searching high and low for local information - it's all neatly provided on the book shelf right inside. The proximity to a bunch of local sites is great, and while you can see neighbor cabins, it's still quiet and the view is gorgeous. What an absolute find this place was - worth the money, and I'm VERY excited to come again in a different season.

  • Jim and Lisa were excellent hosts. This cabin is perfect for two people. It's well-designed, with a spacious kitchen and dining area, ideal for cooking meals at home. Their guest manual was also incredibly detailed, with many helpful suggestions for fun attractions and sightseeing in the area. We loved the fact that this cabin was just a 15-minute drive from a local vineyard, the Massanutten Storybrook Trail, Luray Caverns, and Stanley's small downtown area. I highly recommend booking a stay here!

    Rian2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Lisa’s place was perfect for a romantic getaway weekend in Shenandoah. Skyline Drive was closed the day we were there, but we found some great local wineries and stayed around the cabin. Very cozy. The hot tub and fire pit were amazing!

  • Genuinely the best 2 day vacation I've ever had. The private driveway is very rocky and a little narrow, but even my 2010 toyota prius could handle it. However, if you care about your car's paint job, you may want to use a rental car for this trip. The cabin was very clean, kitchen was much more well stocked than I'd expected and the fireplace in the living room made the whole place very warm and cozy. Overall 10/10 would reccomend and will definitely be back again to enjoy it in the summertime

    Scarlett2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome weekend we had at Olivia’s place! The view is breathtaking! We enjoyed cooking meals in the fully equipped kitchen and the grill outside, playing board games that are in the house, watching movies in front of the fire place and drinking coffee and wine on the deck, taking in the beauty of the surrounding nature, we had lots of birds, small and large, “join us” on the deck! This place is very secluded, and did I mention the view? We decided to spend our entire time at the house, taking in the view and enjoying the quiet place together.

    Seger2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this location with our 2 pups for a nice Valentine's weekend if relaxation. We arrived very late at night but Olivia's directions and self check-in information made it a breeze to arrive and get in. The views are spectacular. There is a peacful feeling being up so high in the mountains. The cabin was very cozy and had everything you would need for a stay including lots of games, dvds and a fully stocked kitchen. One thing that the listing doesnt empathize on is how Dog Friendly it is! There was a giant dog bed, a basket of toys and extra dog bowls. It was a really nice added bonus. Our dogs loved looking out the windows over the valley. The fire place was amazing and very easy to use. It helped warm up the room very quickly. We had a great time and now my husband wants to buy a property near by. Lol. Thank you Olivia!

    Jessica2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home with beautiful views. Super clean and Olivia was very responsive. If you visit here, make sure you wake up to see the stunning sunrise views

    Ibrahim2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • The views at this place were spectacular! We stayed during the winter and were even treated to about a half-inch of snow on our second day - really couldnt ask for much more!

  • This place fulfills all your expectations and more. You have wonderful views of God's creation along with the amenities where you don't have to leave the cabin for the entirety of your stay! Would go back in a heartbeat!

    Emily2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This home has the most beautiful mountain views we have ever seen! It was breathtaking! Sitting in front of the fire was one of our favorite spots. The bed was extremely comfortable as well. It is the perfect romantic getaway! It's very private and quiet but also has great wifi. Olivia thought of every little amenity. It was extremely cold in January, but the heaters kept the place toasty warm. She had plenty of fire wood and starter logs there for us and lots of kitchen appliances. We cooked almost every night. It was perfect! I highly recommend Olivia's place!

  • This was an absolutely wonderful, relaxing place to disconnect over the weekend. We were able to spend some time exploring Luray, but our favorite part was hanging out at the cabin by the river.

  • Our stay at Bruce's place was unforgettable. Be careful to follow his directions - the cabin we stayed in is tucked away in a very private spot (we missed the turn more than once), which always makes for wonderful views! He was always quick to communicate, and extremely friendly and hospitable. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a quiet, cozy getaway!

    Dustin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I loved our stay. We found it to be very relaxing to wake up and watch the loons on the river.

    Amy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet place to stay. Unfortunately, it was raining the whole time I was there, so I didn’t get to experience the outdoor space.

    Craig2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Bruce’s place! It was quiet, peaceful, and calm. Just the place for a reset weekend! The place is very clean and beautiful.

    Tegan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We were thrilled to spend the weekend away at this quaint cabin without wifi or cell phone service. The photos don't quite do it justice -- if you're on the fence and reading this, just book it now!! The property is just tucked away enough so that you feel like you are "out there" but close enough to civilization and the Town of Luray to run errands and do some touristy things. The place was CLEAN, I cannot stress this enough as someone who's walked into a bad rental before. It was exactly as expected/listed, if not better. We brought some dvds but were surprised to find the cabin had direct tv. We loved using the kitchen and outdoor grill to cook some tasty meals and enjoyed a fire by the river. The in-ground fire pit was too wet, so Bruce brought us another fire pit to use. Bruce, aka Dr. Dirt, had great suggestions on what to do in the area even outside of the listed guidebook. The living room has a desk full of maps and tourism pamphlets. There is plenty to do in town, such as visiting the Warehouse Art Gallery for local art and Hawksbill Brewing, which we did, but this is also the perfect place to do absolutely nothing. Kennedy's Peak Loop is just a quick drive down the road. You can either do the entire 8ish mile loop or do the 5 mile out and back. There are great views of Luray and it takes you to an old fire tower with 360 views. Highly recommend! We saw people of almost all ages doing this trail. My favorite thing about the cabin was the value for the location. I liked having the cabin all to ourselves, but having the hosts nearby in case we needed something. Bruce was friendly and welcoming and we would love to visit again in the summer with our dogs.

  • Very quiet and relaxing at the cabin. Beautiful scenery all around

    Sara2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great long weekend just getting away from reality so we could relax. The cabin had everything we needed aside from being quite cold the first night. The wall heaters couldn't keep up with the 13° low, and we couldn't get the woodstove to stay lit. After getting some fire starters and the temp rising some, we were as cozy as could be. We took 2 vehicles - a 4WD truck and 2WD SUV and had no issues getting either up to the cabin. I'd imagine rainy or snowy conditions could be a different story though. Overall, we had a great weekend and loved being able to bring our pups along. We hope to return this spring/summer.

  • Good spot for an easy weekend getaway from the DC area. Would definitely recommend 4WD for the drive up their road.

  • Great, cozy little cabin. Very private with no other cabins really close. Loved the porch and the nice decoration throughout the cabin. The cabin was very clean. Be ready for lots of stink bugs, they are everywhere.

  • Just got back from an amazing trip at Walter and Beysith's place to kick off the new decade! We highly recommend Strickler Knob trail only 30 minutes from the cabin for a challenging hike and some privacy, we saw no one on the trail! Luray Caverns is also worth the admission! Great location and amenities, and amazingly responsive hosts!!

  • Group of 9 family members visiting. Amazing amenities, very clean and spacious place. Nice recommendations from the host. We will be back, this was a great getaway. We ran into an issue with the internet and the host was super responsive and fixed for us. Thanks Culin for being an excellent host. I recommend catching sunrise or sunset from the balcony on this property.

  • Cullin’s cabin was really outstanding! We were happy to see the cabin was exactly as described in the pictures. It was an excellent space for a large group of people. There were plenty of amenities to keep us entertained even when the weather was not ideal. Although there are not lot of restaurants nearby, the kitchen is very large and well equipped. The only consideration to know before staying here would be the drive. During inclement weather, it would be incredibly difficult to reach the cabin without 4 wheel drive, but Cullin is very up-front about this before you arrive.

    Michael2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • House was very clean with lots of space. Beautiful upstairs with a huge open kitchen and an amazing view from the balcony. Tons of space with room for both of my kids. I have a teen girl so the 3 bathrooms were amazing. The kitchen was stocked with everything gadget you could need and basic spices and condiments. It would have been great for younger kids as well with a tee-pee and play area for younger kids. We went tubing and skiing at Massanutten resort and it was about a 30 minute drive. I would highly recommend 4x4 vehicle as it is quite a steep driveway. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

    Kristen2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Culin’s cabin is just lovely. My family and I had a wonderful time grilling, watching TV (great DVD collection!), and enjoying the outdoors. Culin was also very accommodating.

    Isaac2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Quite possibly my most memorable Air BnB experience to date! Waking up to an incredible sunrise and the most charming farm animals make for an A+ experience. Far enough away from any kind of hustle and bustle, but only a short ride to downtown. This place is hard to beat. I can’t wait to book with Jim and Lisa in the future.

  • It was my first time using AirBnb and Michael made it a very easy and streamlined stay. We enjoyed our stay in Luray, VA at the cabin!

    Travis2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot and beautiful cabin! The location is nestled among the foothills and Luray is beautiful. The cabin is rustic and great for a weekend stay. And Michael is a generous host. We can’t recommend the place highly enough.

    Eric2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • First AirBnB experience! It was way better than expected and we had loads of fun! A lot to do in the area and would definitely come back again.

    Holly2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Michael has very quick response and location is perfect to kinda be off grid, but still have cell phone service. Plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy and great cabin feel. Beds and sheets where clean and very cozy!! Plan to book again in the summer.

    Vicenta2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, SUPER CLEAN, gorgeous views of the river. We loved walking out in the morning and hearing the river flowing and watching it from the breakfast nook. Close to town! we were a little concerned about the road due to other reviews, but it was not an issue at all. It is a gravel road in the mountains. My mini van got through it just fine and it was loaded down! So don’t let the other reviews of the road stop you from visiting this beautiful space! Loved it and plan on returning in the spring.

    Jessie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, beautiful space right on the Shenandoah river among a row of sycamores and other cute cabins. I rented this as a weekend getaway for my parents and brother, and we fit five people very comfortably. The beds are large and comfortable, even in the loft, and everyone had their own space. The views are great and the kitchen had everything we needed to stay in and cook. Make sure you bring wood to enjoy the outdoor fire pit! That was such a highlight!

    Jess2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time with my family (including 4 year old child and dog). Property is right on the river and also fairly easy access into town. Perfect size for my family.

COVID-19 UPDATE: We're still open for guests. Place has been cleaned and disinfected with commercial-grade cleaning products. ############################# A simple, yet comfortable small shaker cabin placed in the middle of the Massanutten Mountain with views to die for of the Shenandoah River and National Park. Wake up to the sight of the magnificent "Blue Ridge Mountains" and the town of Luray, VA from 1,500 feet.
We debated long and hard whether to list this place on airbnb. After all, this is our hideaway, with a view that regretfully only a few will ever get to enjoy. But because we love it so much, and in the spirit of the sharing economy, we felt compelled to open its doors to others and allow you to experience the wonderful warmth that this small and rustic cabin will bring to your soul, your heart and your sight. While here, every sense is lifted, every smell improved, every sound a symphony. If you're looking for modern comfort and the latest gadgets, this is not your place. Instead, if you want to warm yourself up, you'll need to place wood in the stove. If you want to check the latest stock prices, you'll need to call your broker because Internet is NOT available. If you want to watch TV in your room, please look elsewhere. However, if you prefer to wake up to the most extraordinary sunrise in your life, simply sleep on the futon couch and open up your eyes in the early morning. If you find delight while hearing the buzz of a hummingbird, just place a few seeds in the balcony. If you want to reconnect with your inner self, seat in one of the shaker rocking chairs, pull up your legs and open that book you always wanted to complete. If you're lucky, you may even see a black bear or two roaming around (no worries, they are not dangerous). The Cabin is located at about 1,500 feet overlooking the Shenandoah River, the town of Luray, and the "Blue Ridge Mountains." The view is a feast to the eyesight. But don't stop there. Visit the Luray Caverns, 6 minutes at the bottom of the hills. Hike to your heart's content on the Massanutten (Stephen) Trail a mile above or in one of the dozens other nearby paths. Bring a road bike and challenge yourself to the top of the mountain. Go horse back riding. Explore the Virginia wine country. Or just...relax. Welcome to a place where time has finally slowed down!
Chances are, you will not see the neighbors. This cabin has easy access, yet it's extremely secluded. The town of Luray is about 6 miles from the Cabin. Your closest neighbor is probably some 200 yards, if they're there at all. Welcome to rural Virginia!
  • There are not enough words to eloquently express our delight with this stay. From attention to details with little unexpected touches to all the excellent instructions but most of all THE VIEW in this place and the coziness of the space is what enchanted my husband and I. Rodrigo left nothing to guess work and his response time is impecable. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The access to multiple hiking places with breathtaking views is also fantastic. We will definitely come back!

    Joise2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Off the grid yet so close to town. The view and experience is like no other. You have to go there to experience the magic first hand. Getting back to basics sucks you in and you never want to leave. Rodrigo is an amazing host, and communication was so timely. He left no stone unturned when it came to being a super host. Can't wait to return. There is nothing like this place... Where memories are made.

    Erin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our group stay in Rodrigo's cabin. The view is spectacular; the kitchen is amazingly well-appointed (great use of a small space); the bathroom is lovely; the living room is very cozy in the winter; the porch is serene, with birds all over the bird feeders; there is enough room for a group to sleep comfortably; and you can walk directly from the house to some fantastic hikes! Things to note: while it feels completely private at the house, take note that there is a road directly below the house, so the house is not sound-isolated--several cars go by every hour. In addition, the second futon is not full-sized, but they do have an air mattress available. I would recommend this house to anyone!

    Lillian2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The most incredible view with the most authentic rustic feel- a cozy cabin for sure. We went to Luray Caverns, Quievremont Winery, and Copper Fox Distillery. A bit of a drive, but a scenic one. We enjoyed the wood stove very much and were really toasty! An overall great time.

    Eleanor2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little piece of the world Great getaway

    Melanie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to unwind with a view you won’t want to leave.

    William2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is my fourth time staying at Rodrigo's home, though the first time in the winter months. It was as spectacular as ever. Very remote and peaceful with terrific views during all seasons. Did not get around to hiking this time (which is one of the wonderful features of the location), but enjoyed sitting out on the deck, making breakfast (always use the waffle maker!), and tending to the fire. Make sure to follow the directions Rodrigo provides, as some cell carriers lose service temporarily on route and roads up the mountain are windy. Keep an eye out for the sign on the private driveway. If this was a bit closer to home (~2 hours from DC) I'd be here even more frequently...but that's part of the charm. Thanks Rodrigo!

    Nathan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I have used airbnb for years, but this is the first review I have written because Rodrigo's cabin is so outstanding. For those looking for an unplugged, rustic place, this is it. It's not the most convenient (no internet, limited tap water, steep driveway), but that was precisely what me and my family were looking for. And even more, Rodrigo's commitment to Shaker design was a real revelation. There were so many unique and thoughtful touches of design that it felt like a very personal experience. And bringing simplicity and ingenuity to the space was a perfect way to appreciate our vacation. We hope to return soon!

  • At Jim and Lisa's Black Bear cabin you can expect everything the listing says and shows, plus more. We marveled at how thoughtful they have been in providing for all that guest like we may expect from renting a cabin for relaxation. Our bed was very comfortable (soft). The cleanliness shone everywhere. All the lights, TV remotes and other power-operated devices worked well. One can see plenty of spares of things everywhere. Jim and Lisa obviously want guests to have the ultimate perfect stay in their cabin. And we did!

    Jaime2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is just amazing exceeded all our expectations. The place was extremely clean and smelled fresh when we arrived, Jim and Lisa are also both very quick to respond and accommodating to us, definitely recommend to everyone .

  • Amazing space. Very clean, easily accessible, very private, amazing amenities. Definitely worth it!

    Rizwan2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is within 30 minutes of all the best sites in the Shenandoah Valley. We were 15 minutes from Luray caverns, and 25 minutes from Massanutten Water park. The views of the mountains are stunning and provided a wonderful backdrop for resting after a run and calm meditation on the porch. On a clear night we were able to lay down in the yard and see 3 times the number of stars we usually see in Frederick, MD.

    Ben2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our recent stay was just prior to Christmas. In addition to being super clean, and very well equipped, our hosts decorated their cabin for us. The spaces were warm and cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Black Bear Lodge. Our family of 4 had plenty of room to spread out and relax. Any communication with Lisa and Jim was excellent. We highly recommend this property.

We invite you to stay in our completely renovated home with all modern conveniences, including central AC, heat, & high speed WiFi. Our goal is to provide a superbly clean, safe, comfortable stay with access to a multitude of outdoor activities. Short walk to the River Outfitters for tubing, canoeing and kayaking. Public boat landing a block away. Short driving distance to Luray Caverns, George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park. We are family friendly and love dogs.
****** Our message on the COVID-19 situation: As small family business, we understand the worry with the current situation. You and your family’s health is the first priority. As suggested by authorities, we encourage self-isolation to help flatten the spread of the virus. If you so chose, a rural, sparsely populated area like Luray is good for social distancing without going stir crazy at home. Our property has fast internet that can handle Skype, Zoom, Netflix, etc in case you still need to do work. There are hundreds of hiking trails in the area to get away from all the current news. With the cool weather and no bugs, its the perfect time of year to get into nature. Be assured that we deep clean and sanitize all surfaces + provide clean sheets and towels. If you bring your own food to cook in our well-stocked kitchen, you can avoid contact with people since we give you door code before arrival. As Superhosts since 2012, please read our reviews to see that we deeply care about your experience as a guest. Let us know if you have any questions or any other concerns before booking with us. --Jay and Ryanne ******* Hi! We travel often for work and usually stay in Airbnb rentals around the world. From these experiences, we bought and renovated this home as a full-time vacation rental with all the little details we expect (and are often missing in other places). Basically, we created our dream Airbnb vacation stay. It's modeled on several Airbnbs that we visited in Norway, Denmark and Sweden (can you tell?). We are Airbnb SuperHosts and hope you'll read through our 5-star reviews to be confident in your booking. The Shenandoah Valley is our home and we love to share the undiscovered pleasures of this area. We have mountain ranges on either side of the valley with a gorgeous river running through it. We're proud to call Luray home. Our nightly price covers up to six guests. Kids are always welcome, and we're pet friendly (with prior approval). Just let us know who you're bringing so we can accommodate (need the high chair, pack n' play or dog bowls? Let us know!). If the Mid Century Home is booked or you're booking for several groups, please check out our other new renovated rental in Luray: Modern Farmhouse near Shenandoah Nat'l Park + Lake https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4169256 House: We have lovingly renovated this unique, mid century house and turned it into a modern home with a European style. The house is located on a small hill near the Shenandoah river with gorgeous views of the National Park. You'll wake up to the sunrise, then watch the sun slowly fall on the mountains as night comes. Though we are on a small road that follows the river, you'll feel secluded because there are no visible neighbors. We've updated the home with all conveniences, including central AC, heat and high speed WiFi. This is not a rustic cabin, but some seriously awesome luxury. A great way to enjoy the outdoors. If you have any special needs, just ask. We live a quick ten minutes away. Parking: The home is on a small hill with a concrete driveway that will allow you to drive right up to the front door. Two cars can park up top. One car can park at the bottom of the driveway, if needed. Bedrooms: The house sleeps up to six people, but also perfect for a couple who want a quiet getaway. There are two private bedrooms. The downstairs master suite has a Restoration Hardware king size bed and flat screen TV. The second, upstairs bedroom has a West Elm Queen Bed, flat screen TV and private deck with mountain views. There's also two adult-sized, handmade bunk beds that are built into the downstairs nook. You can use the heavy curtain to separate the space for privacy. Great for kids, or adults who are kids at heart. We gladly provide all bed linens and pillows. Bathrooms: We have a large full bathroom with a brand new, Americast soaking tub and rainhead shower. We provide shower gel, shampoo and towels. Living room: We like to spread out on two couches and the stylish West Elm wing chair. There are plenty of board games, playing cards, novels, kids books and backlogs of magazines to read. Or hook your phone up to the speakers and play music on the stereo (bluetooth or plug). Kitchen: The kitchen is fully equipped with an six person farm table. You’ll have everything you need to cook a holiday meal, bake cupcakes, or just make coffee + toast and use the microwave for simple reheating. The refrigerator is a smaller European model but can hold enough food for a big family. Plus we have an energy efficient dishwasher for easy clean up. We provide a blender, crock pot/slow cooker, pots, pans, dishes and all utensils. If you need anything we don’t have, we'll do our very best to accommodate. We provide a lot of "starter stuff" so guests don't have to over-buy for short stays (condiments, Olive oil, spices, bug repellent, sunscreen, etc). Coffee. We love it! So we provide a couple different ways to make coffee. We have a Bonavita drip machine with a reusable brass filter. Or you can use our stainless steel french press. We provide Starbucks Medium roast coffee, sugar (and non-sugars), creamer, stevia. If you bring your own beans, you can use our electric burr grinder. We provide different kinds of tea because tea is good too. Entertainment: The house and property has high speed WiFi access. We installed a Ubiquiti wireless router so the internet reaches to all corners of the yard and around the house. If they even have it, many local rentals have either slow satellite access or limited bandwidth from the cell tower. We made sure to get fast, unlimited broadband. Lounge inside to check your email and catch up on videos, or hang out on the deck while researching cool hikes online. Both flat screens are hooked up to Apple TVs. You can watch unlimited shows and movies on our Netflix account, or sign in to any of your accounts to watch what you want (NFL, NHL, HBO, MLB, iTunes, Hulu, etc). Kid stuff: Because you're probably traveling with enough stuff already, we do have a high chair, a Pak n' Play, and plastic eating dishes for small kids. Just let us know if there's an infant in your group so we can have things ready for your arrival. BBQ: We have a brand new Weber gas grill with plenty of fuel. Have fun cooking on our custom hand-laid stone patio. We have foil, wooden skewers, and all the tools you need. There's a rock fire pit to build small campfires on the side yard above the patio. You can either buy firewood from the store or adventure across the street to gather wood in the National Forest. Be careful crossing the road! Outdoor Space: Our crowning renovation achievement is the black locust hardwood deck with a view of the Shenandoah Mountain Range. Six Adirondack chairs allow you to enjoy the view with a cold drink (bottle openers on every chair). Sunrises and sunsets are priceless. With no light pollution, you can see the Milky Way from the porch at night. The yard is fairly steep since the home is on a hill, but there is an area to walk your dog right outside the door for quick relief. We also have a long leash secured to a pole on the front porch by the BBQ area so dogs can safely be outside while you're cooking or lounging on the benches. Shenandoah River Outfitters: 500 ft from our front door is the Shenandoah River Outfitters. Here you can rent tubes, canoes, or kayaks to float down the river. They handle everything including life preservers, floating coolers, and transportation to and from the river. We have their schedule and prices posted in the house. It's an all day adventure. If you have your own equipment to float, you can drop off at the Bixler's Ferry Bridge and get out at the public boat landing just down from our house. It's a nice 3-4 hour float. Fishing: The Shenandoah River offers plenty of spots to fish. There's also a small public lake two minutes from the house. The fish are kept stocked by the Fish and Wildlife department. Great for kids who demand guaranteed bites! George Washington National Forest: The forest includes the land across the street from us, but it's a fifteen minute drive to some of the best hiking trails in the area. The Stephens Trail Hike offers panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley along the Massanutten Mountain ridge line, ending at the stunning panoramic Kennedy's Peak tower. It's a really fun hike (our favorite) with lots of chances to see wildlife. Luray Caverns: The Caverns are world famous since they were discovered over a century ago. The family who runs the Caverns have done a great job creating an inspiring, tasteful experience. It's a perfect place for an afternoon trip underground. There also plenty of other activities for kids like the giant maze and jungle gym. The Pioneer museum showcases demonstrations on how the first settlers in the area lived. Shenandoah National Park: We're twenty miles from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. It's a quick drive with no traffic lights between you and the Park. You can buy a day or week pass into the park to drive the 110-mile Skyline Drive. Or choose from the approximately 100 day hikes (of varying difficulty) that show off the Park's many waterfalls and vistas. We have booklets describing all the hikes. If you want to get 5 feet away from a deer, you'll be able to. Sometimes it's fun to eat at Skyland on top of the mountain where you can see the all of Page County below. Weddings: Luray is known for its beautiful wedding venues. Our house is a perfect home base to stay when attending your friend's or family's wedding. We're just 13 miles from Khimaira Farm and Faithbrooke. In order to help you look your best, we have a full length mirror, iron and ironing board, and lint rollers. Small Town USA: Luray is 10 miles away. It's the a quintessential small American town with a number of restaurants from fancy dining to burger joints. Gathering Grounds is our coffee shop with wifi. Every Saturday morning from May-September, there's a great Farmer's market in town to pick up local produce and meat from area farms. The indoor Willow Grove Farm Market sells locally produced food all year long. Several pizza places deliver to the Mid Century house if you just want to relax and let someone else cook. Treasure hunt at the antique stores, or grab outdoor gear at the outfitters. The 6-screen movie theater, a true local treasure, is open for matinee and evening screenings. Uncle Bucks is the sports bar where locals enjoy the game (stays open till 1am every night). Several groceries stores and Walmart will provide you with everything you need. There's also The Valley Cork wine bar that's open Thurs-Sunday 4-10 to enjoy a local (or int'l) wine tasting. Hawksbill Brewery recently opened where they make all their own beer. The Luray Zoo is on the edge of town and famous for rescuing exotic animals. Perfect for kids who want to safely get close to animals (like goats!). A newly renovated hospital w/ a 24-hour emergency room is close by. We provide a binder with maps of everything in the area and are just a text away if you have questions. Renewable Power: We buy 100% renewable power from our local electric coop (SVEC), which buys the power from Stony Creek Wind Farm. We have an outdoor 110v outlet if you want to trickle charge your electric car (we hope to see more of them!). If you are Elon Musk, we'd love a supercharger, but we'll have to stick with 110v for now!
This is a quiet, rural river community. Full time residents are friendly and wave to strangers!
  • Beautiful location, great for a mini family reunion with my brothers. Really appreciated the local suggestions. Would stay again!

    Colleen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was AMAZING! I went for the weekend with a few friends and it exceeded all of our expectations. Inside is decorated beautifully and very stylish. The upstairs is PERFECT from the balcony, views, and huge couch to hangout on. Would definitely recommend, and stay here again.

    Lauren2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised, beautiful all around.

    Henry2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely wonderful. From the moment we walked in, it was quite clear that Ryanne and Jay had poured their hearts and souls into this cozy, yet surprisingly spacious home. I was vaguely familiar with Hygge, the Danish concept of creating happy spaces, before this trip, but having stayed here, I really get it now. The Hygge here is strong, with lots of wood, green plants, ample light, cozy nooks, and an abundance of great books. It was tempting to stay the whole weekend here without venturing to the nearby caves (our whole reason for coming to Luray), and next time we might just stay put! Ryanne and Jay, you’ve created something very special and we’re grateful that you shared it with us!

    Brandon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ryanne and Jay were incredibly accommodating and communicative. Their home was warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated. We will definitely be recommending this location to friends and family!

    Amy2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • On the west side of the river, this place is easy to get to with easy access to Luray and Shenandoah. It’s also far enough from the busyness of the valley. We didn’t hear or see many people drive by. The home was comfortable and clean, well-supplied and we were able to make all of our meals on site. The sleeping alternatives were very nice and the hi-lo air systems made every part of the house comfortable. We also found some great maps and guides for exploring the area. This is a top-notch stay.

    Ben2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was a true gem! We had a great weekend. This place has everything you could possibly need (and even stuff you didn’t know you might need!) great books too!

    April2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a wonderful place to stay! The cabin is so flawlessly decorated and stylish. Ryanne and Jay are super kind & accommodating. We ended up arriving late and doing self check-in so I never met them in person, but they communicated so well and reassured us they were nearby in case of any problems. There are two bedrooms and a bunk bed (you can pull a curtain closed around them) in the main living space. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, spices, and coffee. There's a fire pit, and the upstairs deck is wonderful. The driveway is steep but they provide salt in case of ice. The cabin is not remote and there are neighboring houses, but we didn't have any issues with that at all. It's about 15 min to drive into the town of Luray. My friends and I spent a weekend in the cabin, only leaving to hike nearby, and we didn't want to leave because it was so cute & comfortable. Thanks Ryanne and Jay!

  • Lovely little cabin, very clean, private and comfortable. One thing to keep in mind: hosts restrict hot tub temp to 100, which is a little more like taking a warm bath outside than a hot tub. Otherwise, great place! Really cute town, and lots of helpful suggestions in the guest booklet. Recommend!

    Monica2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent hospitality!! We will come back!!

    Harold J2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was everything we could have expected, extremely clean and cute "cabin" feel. The home had everything we could have needed and even had some cute touches with candy and hot chocolate for winter. We stopped in the nearby town of Stanley for groceries which seemed to have everything at the Food Lion, if you want more specific things you may have to get them before you arrive. While it does have pretty good internet it's still a little remote so it's not as fast for streaming or downloading on certain streaming services (Netflix seemed fine) which was not a problem for us but something to keep in mind, maybe download a particular movie or bring some DVDs (they have a nice/big TV and DVD player). We absolutely loved the hot tub, view from the front deck was beautiful, it was very private, the fireplace was a wonderful touch and very easy to operate. The host has thought of every detail to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible! We also booked only a night in advance, yet Jim and Lisa made sure to respond right away and were very sweet! Loved it and would love to come again!

    Chelsie2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect, it’s quiet the hot tub was super nice, there were plenty of towels and blankets and space, check in was quick and easy! Everything was super clean, Jim and Lisa were very responsive and attentive...it snowed Tuesday and Lisa let me know the night before that was super helpful. Just a tip make sure your vehicle has 4 wheel drive just Incase it snows! Loved my stay here! Definitely recommend!!

    Ashley2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • 5/5 would stay here again!

    Todd2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Luray Cabins, Jim and Lisa are awesome hosts! Thank you!

    Surendaran2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé & I came here to celebrate our engagement and it was an absolutely perfect getaway. Just the right amount of secluded, incredible scenery and a beautiful place to stay overall. This cabin is most definitely in our books to return to.

    Emily2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • To say this place was great, would be an understatement. Jim & Lisa have thought of everything. One only needs to bring clothes and food. Everything else is right there at your disposal and I do mean EVERYTHING. I can honestly say, the cabin exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to returning soon.

Welcome to The Perch! Our beautiful A-frame cabin opens up to the Shenandoah River. Cabin is perfectly suited for couples or small families looking for the perfect mountain getaway with a view that can't be beat. Take in the sights from the rooftop deck, screened porch, or by the fire pit in this year-round riverfront retreat. Prime location for canoeing, fishing, hiking & biking - the perfect escape to relax in the woods, on the water and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Shenandoah.
Our cabin is located on a beautiful bend on the Shenandoah river, complete with a picturesque view of the mountains in the background. There is much to explore outdoors, but the indoor space will keep you cozy when you want to kick your feet up. The open concept floor plan allows for plenty of mingling and family time, but when it's time to turn down for the night, everyone will enjoy their own private areas. The loft hideaway area is accessible by a ladder, which is perfect for small children to sneak away for their own movie time, but only under the supervision of an adult.
Our cabin strikes the ideal balance between seclusion and access to necessary amenities. You'll be just a 10-15 minute drive to just about anything you could desire: restaurants, outdoor activities, Skyline Drive, etc. Our cabin just few miles away from the Shenandoah Outfitters Canoe Company if a day trip is more your style (tubing, kayaking, etc.). There is much to explore through the Shenandoah National Park, in the heart of Luray, and nearby wineries and breweries.
  • Situated right on the river the Perch offers a priceless setting to unwind. The roof top deck also provides a panoramic view of the area. Inside the home has a super cozy living room with a toasty fireplace to stay warm on cold nights. The fully functional kitchen makes it convenient for cooking.

    Dan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This quiet and cozy cabin was exactly what my family needed to get away from the city. The view is breathtaking especially from the loft and the rooftop deck.

    Yzalia2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Looking for a easy get away from all the chaos of the DMV? The Perch is your answer! not only is it super easy to get to, but the house itself is everything we could have asked for and more! We booked in Jan and still had an amazing experience. The house is soooo cozy during winter, her living room stove heats the house up FAST!!!! The area is quiet, with the only major sounds are coming from the river in the front yard!!! this place offers the perfect escape!!! the campfire was perfect during the cold winter nights. Lyndsey offers so many extras, every time we realized we forgot something, Lyndsey had everything we needed! Would recommend the Storybook Trail short like with spectacular views! It’s only about 30min away but with beautiful sights to look at on the way, the drive feels incredibly short!!

    Marsha2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This location is fabulous and the cabin and grounds are gorgeous. This is the perfect place to enjoy the mountains and also a quick ride over to Luray Caverns. We came in the winter, and the fireplace inside was perfect along with the campfire outside and grill! Right on the river, we had a beautiful view. 10/10 would recommend!

    Jake2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip together and this place made it remarkably unforgettable! Clean, beautiful with Breathtaking view! We loved our stay in this cabin! Thank you Lyndsey!

The Airbnb itself is perfect for a weekend getaway. The hosts were super responsive and nice, and the space was very clean and cozy. I would definitely recommend to others!

  • The property is secluded and unique which is what we were looking for. We brought our 2 dogs and they loved running around on the property. The cabin was very clean and had all the comforts of home. The drive way up to the cabin is interesting. After you go through the tunnel they have a sign that says "give it gas" to get up the gravel hill and our tires spun a bit on our minivan getting up the incline but we made it with no issues every time. The cabin is pretty convenient location-wise. We went to wineries around the area and many of them were at least 30 minutes away. We had a great time and will be visiting again soon.

  • From the time we arrived everything about this place blew us away. Has every charm of a much older home that's been taken care of. Even the cold winter nights were cozy in here with the space heater and the fireplace!

Beautiful cabin in private mountain community, perched in the trees with mountain views and very short distance to community picnic/access area on Shenandoah River.
"Bear Right" is an A-frame cabin perched on a hillside, surrounded by trees. When you are sitting in the house, on its huge deck, or laying in the master bedroom, it feels as if you are high up in the trees. Inside, the main level is a large open floor plan with living room, dining area, full kitchen, and bathroom. Upstairs are two bedrooms: 1) master room has a queen bed and sliding doors which open to a small upper deck area looking out over Dovel Mountain and the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance (more visible in the winter months), and 2) second bedroom, with two double beds, facing rear of the house. Linens and towels: we do not have laundry facilities and the cost to do laundry is a high cost we would have to pass onto guests (approx 2hours at laundromat @$20 hour and cost of laundromat approx $10). We have sheets and towels available for our out of country traveler and if a guest does not have them. When possible we ask for prior warning and help in defraying costs.
Bear Right is located in the Shenandoah Gap community on a private mountain in Shenandoah, VA. As Bear Right guest, you have full access to the Shenandoah Gap river access area, as well as to all common areas of the mountain (i.e., trails accessible off the road).
  • We absolutely loved the house. Such a cute cabin tucked away in the mountains, it's everything I thought of for a mountain cabin. Too cute, is perfect for a couple getting away for a weekend!

    Joy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cozy cabin tucked away in the mountains. Sally was very responsive and accomodating. We enjoyed using her wonderful space as we traveled and hiked in Shenandoah Park. We will definitely try and visit again soon!

    Meagan2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at the cabin and it was just as cozy and charming as the first time, if not more so. Sally’s on-point decor makes it an experience. Highlights include the spacious living room, gorgeous view from the decks, and incredible stargazing on the mountain. My daughter loves all the plush bear friends.

    Jeff2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place for a weekend spent exploring Shenandoah National Park. Thanks!

    Dave2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay. Not only was the stay as expected, our host was super accommodating. We were a late check in on a stormy night. Unfortunately for us, the power went out from the time we arrived until about 3am in the morning. This of course was not due to the host. I was able to communicate with Sally and she helped us get on track with our accommodation. We found candles, flashlights and their emergency container for such situations. She was super responsive and extremely helpful. Would definitely come back to Bear Right! One last tid bit. There are dozens of bears in the cabin itself. We made a game of trying to find them all. Great fun. Thanks Sally!

    Daniel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place, comfy and cozy! Good location, little tough to find at night but once you find it once it’s easy to find again!! Loved the little bear decorations everywhere. Great host, very quick to respond to questions or concerns!! Over all a really nice little place!

Beautiful mountain views await, a LONG ascent up a sparsely populated mountain. TOTAL privacy awaits. Lots of sun, lots of shade. One fun well appointed yurt, one trailer. limited electricity , limited water Great for an adventure bike destination with you friends, fun for jeeps. Great for mountain bikers, meditators, archers, tree climber. Luray attractions, caves, a zoo, cooters dukes of hazard museum with many community events. old rag , Shenandoah, hiking, camping, fishing
Space to relax and unwind, totally quiet and VERY remote. queen size bed in trailer, *bring sheets and pillow cases* full size pull out bed in yurt *bring sheets and pillow cases* guests are expected to wash all dishes and remove all trash this is like camping, only less work and more amenities, show up ready to enjoy nature, which is beyond my control. sleeping bags and headlamps are highly recommended Bring a towel. There is hand sanitizer and various soaps in a blue bag in trailer, otherwise bring your favorite organic hand and or dish soap
Remote, quiet , peaceful, I am at the end of the road. sunbathing, massage table
  • Wonderful old world charm with a private setting that is just off grid enough to give you peace. Make sure your vehicle has decent ground clearance (Subaru/Honda Element-type height) for the gravel roads, inclines and dips. Make sure you pick up firewood for the sauna, tub, oven and fire pit. Electrical and AC are provided in both dwellings. If you want a new experience with somewhat of a camp cabin type of feel, then this is absolutely perfect!

    Sean2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great Value. Not far from DC and a very unique space. Enjoyed the quiet and steam room.

    Jason2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. Just wow. Kevin is a world class human and a spectacular host. He was thoughtful and quick to respond, making sure we had everything we needed. The space was exactly what we needed to clear our heads. We talked to more ducks than people for the duration of our stay! Would stay again 6 out of 5 stars.

    Nik2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is so unique; unpretentious glamping. A yurt, a kitchen in a trailer, multiple firepits, a wood-fired sauna and a flock of ducks to keep us company! My friends and I were thoroughly entertained. A great value!

    Peter2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such an awesome time here! Kevin is really quick w responses and very generous and inviting! The property came w a flock of ducks that live there that I was unaware of beforehand but they are legit the chillest ducks ever and really added to the experience!

    Tara2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very nestled in the mountains, really unique setup. Excellent host, went above and beyond with communication!

    Tess2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my overnight at Kevin’s Place. It was so easy to find (using google maps), and when I got there he left everything open for me so my check in was a breeze. The area itself is so beautiful and will have to make a point to stay here again!

    Amanda2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • I went here with my sibling to get away from the busy life and bond in a private and relaxing space. Kevin's place provided the opportunity for that and then some. Highly recommend, I will save this one and am planning to return in the spring.

  • Place was nice and cozy. The view was amazing.

    Jarrett2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing!! The pictures don’t do the view justice. Everything was clean and neat upon arrival, and communication was excellent throughout. Definitely would recommend not driving a sedan up the mountain, but we had a small SUV and it worked perfectly fine. We will definitely be staying here again!!

    Kelsey2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing stay. 5 stars! The pictures don’t do the view justice. The kitchen had everything you needed, plenty of space to move around and stretch in the mornings, board games came in clutch, and the grill was also super spot on. My favorite part was probably the hot tub. Definitely coming back again! Grocery stores are about a 30 minute drive which isn’t bad since it’s pretty out there but if you want to avoid driving just plan your meals!

    Mark2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a terrific birthday weekend. The view is great, the cabin was clean, and the hot tub was our favorite part. It was a quick drive down the mountain to explore Luray Caverns. We also enjoyed the many wild birds that would visit the property

    Alex2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and everything was as expected. Great communication with Ashley. We had a wonderful time and plan on a return trip in the future.

    Joe2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, wholesome and cozy space, very responsive host and decent location. As the reviews below state, the drive up the mountain to the property was definitely more suitable for a SUV or truck. Although I did see a neighbor/other guest driving up in a Mini Cooper, so it can be done in a smaller vehicle. My friends and I stayed here for an extended weekend and had an amazing time. We had no complaints and can’t wait to come again for a longer period of time.

    Lauren2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The space is beautiful. Nice, rustic feel. Secluded and peaceful. Views are amazing and its close to tons of things to do!

    Evan2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • After you survive the treacherous drive up the mountain (4WD is highly suggested!!) you’re rewarded with a beautiful view of Shenandoah valley in this cute, rustic cabin. Fairly small space, but they are very economical and fit 4 queen beds in 3 bedrooms, great for a larger group. The hot tub on the deck with views of the valley is a nice amenity enjoy!

STAY 1 NIGHT, Mon-Thurs! Enjoy stunning views of the Blue Ridge mountains... a sight best enjoyed from the decks off the master bedroom and dining room, while kicking back in the swinging chairs on the patio or while relaxing in the Jacuzzi tub. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, and swimming are conveniently available. Picnic outdoors under the patio area, enjoy s'mores around the fire pit or throw a game of corn hole in the back yard. Come and enjoy the adventures that await you at Vista Grande!
Vista Grande comfortably sleeps 6, with beautiful views from the dining room deck, kitchen window, as well as the deck off one of the bedrooms. Views also can be enjoyed while relaxing in the large Jacuzzi tub or sitting in the swinging chairs on the patio! A large stone fireplace provides warmth for cozy and/or romantic evenings and a fire pit out back is perfect for roasting hot dogs, making smores, or just relaxing after the days end to share stories and good times. Please note, Vista Grande is not located in a secluded area, there are other homes in the area however most are other rentals and the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful!! There is a charcoal grill available for grilling, however charcoal is not provided at Vista Grande and firewood for the fire pit can be found locally for $10 a bundle. F.Y.I. --- for those with groups larger than 6, Vista Grande is next door to another one of our properties, "Relax at Acorn Hill" (which also sleeps 6)... although separated by a wooded lot, homes are close enough to walk between yet separate enough to enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay at both locations.
there is much to do depending on your likes... the Shenandoah River is close by for canoeing/kayaking, many hiking trails throughout the national parks and nearby areas, shop flea markets and antiques stores, visit local Virginia wineries, or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery while relaxing on one of the decks.
  • This place is beautiful with wonderful mountain views. Lots of places to hike in the area. We hiked to the top of Kennedy Peak, which is about a 15 min drive from the house. We also visited Luray Caverns. I highly recommend staying at one of David and Becky's homes!

  • This place is perfect. We spent the day driving Skyline Drive, and after a day of winter hiking, it was wonderful to have a place to come to that was warm and cozy! The heat was already on, and we arrived just as the sun was setting so we got to enjoy the sunset! The kitchen was perfectly appointed for us to cook up some dinner. The bed was comfortable and we woke up to a wonderful view of the valley. We’d love to stop again some day

  • This is by far the best Airbnb I've stayed in. The amenities and special touches such as a personal note and welcome goodies basket were top notch. Brenda was always accessible and went out of her way to assist with any questions we had. We are looking forward to visiting her home in warmer weather. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable vacation for us!

  • A fabulous place to stay! We stayed with our two young children and my parents and the house had something for everyone. Books, games and puzzles, toys and a room that had my three year old entranced, and the wonderful hot tub. The kitchen (indeed the whole house) is extremely well-equipped and stocked with all the essentials. The location is remote enough to feel that you’re away from it all but conveniently close to Luray and other hubs. Brenda was fantastic to communicate with and our whole experience was just a delight. Would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be coming back in the future.

    Nadine2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I knew dream view house would be perfect for myself, my husband and young adult daughter, and it was even better than I expected or that photos can show. The front deck was a favorite place to hang out with our dogs, and the location was close to so many towns —five breweries, Luray Caverns, great hiking trails, etc. After a day of adventure coming home to this lovely place was paradise! Now, I want to come back to visit soon. We drove up from Florida, but it was less than 2 hours from my daughters DC area place, so a perfect meeting place & common ground for us. The dog beds and outside porches made the pups welcome too!

  • Brenda was extremely responsive and courteous! An absolute DREAM host for a fur mom!! She put out special dog beds, water, bowls, treats and toys just for them! Everything in the home is gorgeous and clean! I loved that she decorated the whole house for Christmas, as we stayed here on our travels home for the holidays! Sitting by the fire with the Christmas tree lit and wine in hand was an absolute dream! I couldn’t have asked for a better host or stay! ♥️🐶

  • Brenda's place was thoughtful, inviting and very dog friendly. Despite the rainy weather, we were able to enjoy our time by the fire, playing board games and cooking with the fully stocked kitchen! The dogs thoroughly enjoyed the beds and the large yard to run around in - must bring your own poop bags! We will definitely be back!

  • Michael's place is very cozy and has a beautiful view. If you're looking for a place to get away and out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place to be. Mere minutes from great hiking trails and small town local eateries while also keeping you secluded from the public, you would be hard pressed to find a more ideal place to stay. Michael was kind and welcoming and also willing and able to adjust to my last minute changes in my schedule. I would gladly stay again.

  • Fantastic view and a beautiful home! I would definitely visit again in the future. No kitchen, no problem! We decided to bring a portable outdoor grill, a slow cooker, some paper plates, utensils, and of course our own food which made the experience more memorable for us. Star gazing & the fire pit was totally awesome! This getaway was quite an experience and a great way to end off 2019!

  • The place is amazing and the owners are extremely kind and helpful. The property is on a hill, so, awd or 4wd is definitely something I would reccomend but definitely not necessarily. Would definitely come back.

  • Good communication, easy check-in, great space and location for Shenandoah hiking.

  • Whoa. Michael and Elizabeth's place is even more beautiful in person. The home is as described, with nice touches such as a vent with heating option in the bathroom so you can stay warm after your shower. It's a quick drive to nearby hikes and restaurants. The view of the mountain is specular from the home and going in October is perfect timing for the fall foliage. I cannot recommend their place enough, we're already planning our next trip back.

  • I can’t speak highly enough of my experience here. Michael was so wonderfully hospitable, responsive, and helpful throughout my stay and really made a great trip even better. The room (read: THE VIEW) was fantastic, and even the water was great (who thought that could be a review item warranting praise?). Only suggestion is that a compact car may have some difficulty getting up the driveway. Word to the wise.

  • Great spot for a relaxing weekend getaway! The space is very comfortable and cozy with a wonderful patio area and view of the mountains. Michael was a great host and provided very helpful instructions about how to get there and suggestions for activities during my stay. I especially liked being so close to several great hiking trails. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Michaels place is a great location. You can see the milky way from the back patio at night, it’s spacious, it’s got all types of games, and binders full of food and amenities that you could do. It’s perfect to come back from a long hike and unwind in a chair by the fire with no tv to distract you from the beauty of nature. You might see a couple crickets but there’s a Dustbuster to pick them up and you’re in nature, what do you expect.

Old Rag Cabin is close to hiking trails such as Old Rag Mountain and White Oak Canyon Falls. It is nestled is on 4 secluded, wooded acres in the Blue Ridge mountains. Enjoy hiking, fishing, scenic drives, campfires, wine tasting, civil war battlefields, apple picking, horseback riding and much more. It is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. Only 90 min drive from D.C. Unplug!
The cabin is very cozy and comfortable. It is a true cabin with wooden walls and vaulted ceiling.
Wooded and secluded, the cabin sits on 4 acres overlooking the pond. There are other cabins in the area but not that you can see from ours.
  • Very clean! Secluded and quiet! There was even a little Christmas tree up! Try not to arrive at night. It added an extra level of stress to us.

    Sarah2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely quiet and private as promised. We loved watching the Heron and Kingfisher flying around the pond and listening to all the other birds. Plus it’s close to Old Rag and the Skyline Drive!

    Lauren2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The couch that is there now is way better than the futon in the photos. Great little spot for a getaway. Only regret is we never got around to using the fire pit during our stay.

  • We had an amazing weekend at Jane's cabin! It was just what we were looking for -- quiet, relaxing and close to some great hiking spots. We also enjoyed trying out a couple local breweries and wineries! The cabin itself was simple, but spotless. We had everything we needed and enjoyed having no WiFi or cell service for the weekend. We downloaded a google map of the area beforehand, which helped a lot!

    Brittany2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Jane’s cabin. It is small but cozy. We swam in the pond multiple times per day and did some great hiking!

    Miranda2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, private mountain cabin with everything you need. Excellent choice for your trip or vacation!

    Molly2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful relaxing haven! The pond was a great spot for fishing, the cabin could not have been more cozy with comfy beds and awesome forest views, and we were close by to the Shenandoah Nat’l Park Whiteoak Canyon Falls trail head. Can’t wait to return!

    Mary2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy cabin in the woods. Great hiking is very close by. We had a very relaxing weekend.
