  • This cottage is centrally placed for a trip to the delightful town of Ludlow, the cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We were very pleasantly surprised to find breakfast items provided as well as tea, coffee and milk, and a bottle of wine completed the welcome pack. I would throughly recommend the cottage and indeed looking through the visitors book many satisfied customers have enjoyed the same welcoming comforts of this well presented home away from home

Comfortable and warm.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the studio. We were incredibly lucky with the weather but, had we not been, there were lots of games, dvds and other activities provided to keep us entertained. Easy check in, with our host welcoming us once we’d had time to settle in. Fresh produce was delicious and much appreciated. The bed was so comfortable! During our stay I had a query about the wifi. Philip went out of his way to help immediately without making me feel like it was any trouble at all, and I really appreciated that.

Coal’s View is a luxury detached holiday cottage situated in Eyton, a quiet country hamlet. The cottage is newly converted and offers open plan living with an abundance of high-end features across two floors, with a large private garden and hot tub. The bedroom includes a king bed, with views overlooking the paddocks. The bathroom includes an impressive standalone bathtub. There’s a well fitted kitchen, with a large oven, and dining table, beside a homely living space complete with log burner.
The property is well positioned for walkers and cyclists, with a byway just beyond the garden and the national trust sites of Croft Castle and Berrington Hall within a short drive. There’s an array of country pubs and restaurants close by as well as numerous distilleries and orchards. For convenience there are several supermarkets and local amenities within 2 miles. Slightly further afield is the historic town of Ludlow, famed for it’s food festivals and Michelin star cuisine. We’re conveniently situated close to the Welsh border for fantastic scenary, with both the Shropshire Hills and Brecon Beacons also within easy reach by car.
  • We had a wonderful few days here and could’ve happily stayed longer. Great place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet getaway.

    Abbie2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay at Coals View. It was a nice surprise to have wine and chocolate upon arrival - which didn’t last long! The place is beautiful, clean and well thought out. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely recommend it to friends and family :)

  • We’ve just got back home from 2 lovely quiet nights at Tom and Louise’s place. This was booked as a surprise for my finance, and she absolutely loved it (especially the bath!) The cottage is lovely inside and really well laid out, nice big kitchen, nice sized living room with views out onto the hot tub, the upstairs is amazing the bedroom is great and the bathroom is amazing, 2 sinks, nice big shower, toilet and the star of the show an egg bath, many a relaxing time was spent in there. The other star of the show is the hot tub, it’s constantly kept warm and really easy to access, it’s very private with the fence around and once you have the lid up, we spent a couple of hours Thursday evening star gazing and it was a great relaxing end to our day. Check in was easy and no fuss, although if there was any issues Tom and Louise are only next door. The local area is nice and quiet with a couple nice pubs a few miles away, defo walkable when the weather is good, we took a little walk over some fields and over a wobbly bridge which was fun, this was mentioned to me by Tom. If you don’t plan on wanting to leave the area much then you can just stock up on food and drink and enjoy the treats of the cottage for a few nights. If you want to go a little further a field by car then you have Leominster a matter of minutes away which has a bit of everything you will be looking for and then about 20 minutes away is Ludlow which is a really nice historic market town with the castle, nice pubs, restaurants and sights. Lastly we took a drive and then walk up Clee Hill where the views were amazing and managed to see a bit of the sun set. We definitely recommend the cottage for a romantic break or just somewhere to unwind and you won’t be disappointed by what’s inside (and out) and you’ll be getting good value for money.

  • Lovely quiet bolt-hole nestled in the countryside. Just as described and with very helpful hosts.

    Stuart2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely mid week break, super relaxing! We went to one of the pubs Louise and Tom recommended and loved it! Will 100% be returning in the summer. Close to local shops, lovely woodland walks and a really nice secluded property, the bath is to die for!!

    Lilly2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our much anticipated visit to Eyton had to be aborted due to flooding in the local area. Tom was on to us first thing in the morning we were due to arrive to advise of the difficulties we might face. We agreed us cancelling was the best option. Tom had refunded us by the time we got home. Thanks for your prompt information and attention. We will re book for another occasion

    David2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Louise and Tom were fantastic hosts and their cottage is perfect for couples. Maybe take a board game/book, as if the weather isn't great the local area is a bit quiet. However, we enjoyed relaxing in the front room looking out at the fields and the hot tub was an added extra which we made the most of. The added little touch of some chocolates and 2 bottles of wine upon arrival definitely went down a treat!

The 'Fox and Feathers' room is in Hanway House which is a warm, rustic, self-catering country cottage. You'll be staying in a private conservation area, Mortimer Forest with nature, wild and farm life surrounding you. The Fox and Feathers is the smallest of our three listed Airbnb room options. Then we have the 'The Woodlands enSuite' and the spacious 'The Redwood Tree' room. Ideal for rambling, walking your dog, off / on road cycling, horse riding, exploring nature, 1400's historic villages .
The Fox and Feathers room: This is a compact, warm and comfortable room. A cosy double bed is tucked in a corner with access on one side. Heater, USB port, storage, view up the valley, clean air and healthy spring water. We have had many wonderful guests stay, giving Hanway House 5 star ratings. Their kind reviews have enabled us to earn 'Superhost' status. " Enjoy the flora and fauna that surrounds Hanway House. Look for woodland plants, wild garlic, bluebells and the blossoming fruit trees. Forage for mushrooms, leaves, nuts, seeds and fruit. Identify tree types including our ancient trees. Enjoy the wildlife visiting from the woodlands and forest, deer, foxes, hedgehogs, bats and squirrels as well as an abundance of insects, butterlies, frogs and voles, not to mention the elusive lizards and newts." "Hanway House is a 300 year old, former Estate Manager's cottage. It was part of the original Moor Park Trust (Moor Park itself is now a private school), owned by the Foster and Inchiquine dynasties. The late Lord and Lady Phaedrig and Vera O'Brien Lord Inchiquin the 17th Baron lived out their lives on the property. Their contribution to English heritage goes unrecognised with the Hon Major Phaedrig O'Brien carrying out field intelligence mapping during WWII, he was responsible for geological and mineral discoveries in East and Southern Africa, interests in photography, antique collecting and hunting. The families were the founders of the All Saints Church in Richards Castle where valuable works of art hang. Today, Hanway House is a warm, comfortable and rustic cottage, full of life, personality, history, love and laughter. The best tea in the land is made using the crystal clear water from our exclusive spring. The spring flows into a brook that flows under the kitchen on its way to the river Teme - the mystery as to why the house was built over the stream has never been solved!" We try to carefully balance our hospitality with your and my privacy, this is our home and you'll be welcomed as part of the family. There are two storeys with the bedroom located on the first floor. Entering Hanway House, you are welcomed by the warm, well equiped kitchen. There is an adjoining lounge with a wood stove followed by a second lounge with open fire and a large screen TV. A stair case then leads to the first floor where you will find your bedroom and bathroom. Above the bedroom area are the attic master and storage rooms. Rustic, casual, country accomodation surrounded by woodland, wildlife and birdsong. Not city modern. We open our self-catering home to you to share the house, countryside and extraordinary wildlife that we enjoy. We hope you'll love it as much as we do! Children will find plenty to enjoy here, playing in the woods, making dens, paddling in the spring-fed brook or exploring the mysteries of the iron-age quarry.
"Hanway House is an area of outstanding beauty, a rural, farming area near the Welsh border, with woodlands, forest and old towns. Our spring fed brook is the border between Shropshire and Herefordshire. No light pollution so on clear nights fantastic stellar views can be enjoyed. Satelites and shooting stars are common sights. Plus we are the green green grass of home." Join me in wild animal and bird calling to have real close encounters. The local area offers loads to do, exploring historic black and white villages, antique shops, the arts, theatre, markets, pubs, farms, forests and rivers. Alternatively, enjoy activities such as fishing, golf, flying and so much more. Explore Richards Castle ruins, the old WW2 Shobdon air strip. visit the black and white villages of Pembridge, Leintwardine and Leominster, for wall-to-wall bric-a-brac and antique shops, Leominster is a must, Oh lets not forget Ludlow just 3 miles away on a bus route.
  • An exceptional place with an exceptional (extraordinary?) host (s)- Tosh's sister was staying during my visit. Miles of peaceful forest walking from the door with just the occasional cyclist or runner and the guttural cries of rutting stags. My Springer Spaniel was in seventh heaven. I was happy just walking and doing some exploring of local villages and towns - the outdoor fleamarket in Ludlow last Sunday was a pleasant surprise. I spent evenings in and Tosh and Erica ensured I did not feel that I was imposing on their space. Other people have covered much of what I would have written so if you are considering a visit read the reviews and just go and experience Hanway House...

    Lesley2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely venue , tucked away on the fringe of a forest , large , comfortable , well appointed room , with an ensuite , my idea of heaven.

  • We had a great stay with Torsten, and his family and friends. The house is rustic and in a postcard picture setting. We were welcomed warmly and felt completely at home in this airbnb. We had a very comfortable room and own bathroom facilities. The room was much larger than expected and was warm and inviting. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. Room and bathroom was clean and tidy. We had full use of the home (kitchen, lounge, garden etc). We were enthralled by the hosts own life experiences and thoroughly enjoyed the invite to join Tosh and Kate watch the rugby world cup game in Leonminster at the local pub. We had a wonderful "braai" together which really made us feel at home (being South African). There were great walks in the area and Ludlow is within walking distance (depending on your fitness) and is also well worth a visit.

    Amanda2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is wonderful place, idyllic, peaceful and the hosts are lovely, going over and above to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We shall definitely return.

    Sophie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended, peaceful, rustic hide-away in a very beautiful rural setting exactly as described by host, who does his utmost to make you feel at home. Easy access to several footpaths from house (stout walking boots compulsory) , or drive a short distance to mooch & chill around sleepy villages or towns full of character where the locals are very happy to chat & pass the time of day. If you are averse to ‘getting organised’ as I am, & prefer to let life come to you, this is a fantastic location on borders of 3 distinctive counties - Herefordshire, Shropshire & Welsh Radnorshire.

  • Highly recommend this lovely cottage. Very quiet and in a great location. Very comfortable and ideal for a night or weekend retreat. Very short walks from the centre of town so you can access all the fine food establishments and the castle. The cottage is so adorable, even for a 6ft 1in bloke. Low ceilings but that adds to the charm. Open log burner adds cosy warmth to the space whilst you sip homemade damson vodka! Very clean and well planned space with great bedroom and wooden beams and pitched ceiling, big spacious bathroom. Highly recommend and we will be returning.

    Kathryn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • As promised, this is a cosy space , right in the heart of Ludlow, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The town is just so beautiful, with a fascinating range of proper shops and businesses, and friendly people. We were out and about, even in the midst of Hurricane Dennis, making full use of the umbrellas. We also had an exhilarating run on Sunday morning to see the swollen River Eame. The house has everything you need, ingeniously fitted into its tiny footprint. We are small people, but the space might be a problem for taller folk. Also, we didn't use the bicycles we had bought, but would have struggled to know where to store them if we had

  • This is my second stay at Rosie’s house and I’m planning further visits. The house is quaint, full of character and in the centre of town, yet quiet and peaceful. And Rosie’s raspberry vodka and homemade jams are delicious.

  • Jackie and Paul’s is a special place in a wonderful part of England. Their house is bright, spacious and comfortable, as well as being beautifully furnished and maintained. Their home isn’t just a comfortable house, it is a place with great class and distinction in a picturesque village set in a fascinating part of England with a lot of historic places on the doorstep. They made our visit a special and memorable one and went to extraordinary lengths to make us feel at home. They know the area very well and were able to advise us how to get the most out of your visit, where to find good places to eat, and the best places for outdoor hiking and walking. Their recommendations were spot-on and helped transform our exploratory visit into a special one. We have used airbnb facilities in England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy and Turkey but our best hosts were in Orleton. Top marks, Jackie and Paul.

  • We have just spent four lovely nights at Jackie’s and we were made very welcome by both Jackie and Paul, they were perfect hosts. The wonderful breakfast was a lovely start to the day. The facilities were excellent and our room was very comfortable. We were given information regarding places to visit and we were not let down. The village pub was also very welcoming, and their menu had sufficient choices and the food was delicious.....especially the pumpkin soup and the lemon posset !!

The large, bright double bedroom is on the first floor of a Grade 2 Listed Georgian former vicarage, in a village location next to the church. Facilities include en-suite toilet and wash basin, exclusive use of adjacent bathroom with bath and over bath shower, plenty of storage space, and tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom. Generous continental breakfast served in the dining room. The village shop and post office, and a pub serving excellent food are within easy walking distance.
Soft, freshly laundered bath robes are available to borrow if required.
The beautiful Medieval market town of Ludlow is a short drive away, as are Leominster with its many antique shops and Tenbury Wells, famed for it's annual mistletoe market. Hereford is also within an easy drive, enabling a visit to it's beautiful cathedral to view the Mappa Mundi. The National Trust properties and gardens of Croft Castle and Berrington Hall are nearby, as is the Welsh border giving access to beautiful Mid -Wales. The surrounding countryside is lovely with many local walks, several immediately accessible from the property. There are local facilities for horse riding and cycling. We are well placed for those wishing to visit Ludlow Race Course, either to attend the racing or for other events.
  • This is a great place to stay with a warm welcome , comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. Would thoroughly recommend it.

  • A wonderful Vicarage turned into a home with a feeling of the past, decorated to the style you would expect for a grand building. Jackie and Paul are brilliant hosts and very welcoming. Breakfast was also outstanding and surpassed my expectations. Paul also went out of his way to cater for a food intolerance. Highly recommend the stay here and if I'm back I'll be staying again for sure.

  • We had a lovely two night stay with Jackie and Paul. Both were very friendly and welcoming and the room and facilities were very clean and comfortable. It was an ideal place to explore the area from and we would happily stay again if we return.

  • Jackie and her husband were wonderful hosts. Their house and our room was superb. A beautiful location, lovely touches around the home and a lovely breakfast. Simply wonderful and highly recommended!

  • Jackie and Paul were great hosts . They greeted me with a lovely cup of coffee and we sat and chatted under the trees on the warm summers evening. The use of the sitting room was nice and relaxing. The bedroom was big , airy and comfy. Too comfy as I overslept, but to woken by sunshine and birdsong was a real treat. I would highly recommend this beautiful house to stay in and if I’m in the area again I would enquire to see if a room was available. Thankyou very much Jackie and Paul

    Rachel2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very lovely place to stay. Jackie and Paul are lovely people; the room was spotless and comfortable; breakfast was brilliant; the Bakers Arms served good food and ale, was within easy walking distance.

    Douglas2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights in Jackie and Paul’s lovely old house. They were perfect hosts, welcoming us with a pot of tea (and lovely cake), showing a genuine interest in the activities we were involved in, but leaving us time and space to enjoy the guest sitting room as well. The bedroom was very spacious with a very comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. The en-suite toilet and washbasin were spotlessly clean as was the enormous bathroom further down the corridor which was for our exclusive use. It was great to have tea making facilities in the room for a cuppa before bed or first thing. Breakfast was very good with plenty of fruit and cereals as well as toast, croissants, cheese and ham, all served in a delightful dining room, beautifully furnished and home to a grandfather clock (slightly out of sync with the church clock which chimed the hours). Paul very thoughtfully ( but without us asking) turned off another grandfather clock on the landing so that we weren’t disturbed. We would love to go back and can thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

  • We had a lovely time staying on Saturday night. We were made to feel very much at home. Jackie let us settle in then served us tea and ginger cake in the lounge. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean with a big window overlooking the garden. The private bathroom was along the corridor but there was an ensuite toilet and washbasin. Robes were thoughtfully provided for walking to the bathroom. Jackie was quick to respond to any of our enquiries. She gave us clear directions to the local pub (which serves great food). We had a very comfortable night and the following morning an excellent breakfast was provided in the grand dining room. Jackie and Paul were excellent hosts and have a beautiful house in a tranquil and beautiful village. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to visit Ludlow, Berrington Hall and Croft Castle. Jackie gave us information about the walks at Croft Castle - she advised us to walk to the hill fort which we did and found the views amazing. Perfect weather was a bonus! Thank you very much to Jackie and Paul for the generous hospitality - we will return!

The Apple Loft is within an old Herefordshire cider house formerly belonging to the Croft Castle estate. Thought to be 18th or 19th century it has recently been sensitively renovated to provide compact tasteful accommodation off the beaten track. It offers a full kitchen and a bathroom (with bath and overhead shower). The accommodation can be arranged as two single beds or a superking. Free parking is available nearby.
There is a private entrance up outside stairs into the first floor of The Apple Loft. There are stunning views up over the common to the north and over Herefordshire to the south. The entrance stable door is also half glazed to the east. This floor contains a sitting area, dining table and chairs, with the kitchen area adjacent. The bathroom is also on this floor. Upstairs is the bedroom with north and south skylights making the whole flat airy and bright.
We live on a 1400 acre common with open access so wonderful for walking. The pictures of the deer were taken on the common on a cold crispy morning. There are lovely views from Croft Ambrey, an iron age fort on top of the common, a fantastic place to watch sunsets over the Welsh hills. There is so much wildlife here, some rare butterflies and we have many birds including the occasional red kite. A short walk away through Fish Pool Valley is Croft Castle. The walk through the woods to the castle is breathtaking in spring with carpets of bluebells, and other flowers. Ludlow is about 15 mins drive away, a popular tourist place. In other directions there is a black and white village trail, cheesemaking, the Mappa Mundi in Hereford and Ross on Wye with all the bookshops. We are only a few miles from the Welsh border, a lovely area to explore either driving or walking.
  • Apple Loft is a delightful stay. It’s a very comfortable set-up; perfect for some quality time away. The surroundings are beautiful particularly if you like walking. Bring wellies if it’s been raining but don’t miss the opportunity to explore the Common. It’s handy for everything; pubs, heritage sites and the local towns. Ludlow is well worth a visit. I’d recommend this place to everyone. It’s awesome.

  • Apple Loft is located down a little country lane and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Apple Loft is decorated to a high standard and Wendy keeps it spotless. The extra little touches were very much appreciated. We look forward to spending time here again. Paul & Sarah

  • A unique hideaway for country loving couples.....stylish, quality fixtures and fittings ,and situated on the edge of a beautiful and peaceful part-forested common.

    Bob2019-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • A snug little gem in a rural setting. Lovely interior with everything so well thought through. Super comfortable bed. Would recommend for active guests.

    Annie2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Apple Loft is a complete delight! A bit off the beaten track, it is a little gem in the countryside. Beautifully warm and cosy, you would be happy just curled up with a book, watching the sheep, birds and weather outside. But there are plenty of things round about to tempt you out: lots of good walks, several National Trust properties and parks, plus Ludlow, Leominster and lots of lovely villages. Wendy was a very good communicator and obviously cares about making guests feel welcome - quality extras that go above and beyond (great bed and bedding!) - and the place is tremendously well equipped. I wouldn’t have a moment’s hesitation in recommending the Apple Loft and hope to revisit sometime. I will definitely be telling others about it.

    Claire2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place is truly exceptional. A beautifully warm and welcoming space, beautifully designed and set up, Apple Loft is cosy, well equipped and simply delightful. Wendy was the perfect host: communicative, welcoming, conscientious and caring and made us feel truly welcome (including an array of little finishing touches to help us celebrate a birthday). The location is the stuff of a real country getaway, hidden away off the beaten track, lovely views of the Herefordshire countryside and a cosy but modern space with everything you need. The place is finished to a high spec and is perfect for two. I hope to be back sometime soon! Many thanks, Wendy. We had a magical weekend here at the Apple Loft.

    Roman2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Apple Loft is fantastic. Facilities are excellent, the setting is beautiful and Wendy & Simon were a brilliant hosts. All our expectations were met with ease and some of the small touches made us feel right at home. Wendy's place is perfect for a quiet getaway, highly recommended.

    Shaun2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place quite simply is a delight. The apartment has its own entrance and is entirely self-contained and very comfortable. The bed is a dream in itself. Lying in bed and listening to the sheep bleat in the distance - you can imagine the quality of sleep you'll get. The area is beautiful - situated in the middle of one of the most picturesque parts of England. Highly recommended.

  • We really enjoyed our visit here , it is in the perfect location as it is right next to ludlow town and the view is amazing ! Will definitely be back was an amazing trip

    Steff2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Chose this place as a little getaway for my and my boyfriend. I wanted something cheap but still quirky. It was the perfect little retreat for a quite weekend close to nature. The location is perfect with plenty of wildlife to enjoy as well as been close to the local town and attractions. The hut was the perfect size and had everything we needed. We went in Jan so the weather wasn't great but the space was so cosy and warm. We had our own little bathroom which was nice as we didn't have to share with anyone. It is on a farm but you wouldn't know because it was set on the edge of a small field away from the main road and main farm/campsite. We felt so welcome with Angela just a phone call away to help us with anything we needed. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family. Thank you so much for a lovely weekend!

    Amy2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This has to be a personal favourite on air bnb. Beautiful location the hut is a good distance away from the farm allowing you to feel secluded and offer great views. Perfect if you have a dog there’s the beautiful Mortimer forest right opposite the farm. Would most definitely recommend.

  • Fantastic hospitality and clean accomodation.

    Anna2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, tranquil place to stay with everything you need in situ. I found it easier to reverse out from the hut rather than reversing in.

    Philippa2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a simple rustic space surrounded by a serene forest. The farm is active during the day but come night fall only the owls will disturb your peace, and they can be very vocal! The hut is compact, but has everything you need for a comfortable stay come rain or shine. Highly recommend this hut, lovely location and excellent value for money.

    Marie2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little piece of isolation. Tucked away from the farmhouse and small campsite. We had a friendly welcome and were then left alone (although I'm sure if we had needed anything we had only to ask). Everything we needed was supplied including plenty of firewood. We used the firepit to cook on and then toast marshmallows as we watched a herd of deer cross the field as the sun went down. A great location as a base for walks or to explore local attractions or just to stay put and watch the wildlife.

The 'Woodlands Suite' is an en-suite room and is in Hanway House which is a warm, rustic, self-catering country cottage. You'll be staying in a private conservation area with Mortimer Forest, wild and farmlife. It is the only en-suite choice of our three rooms. Then we have the spacious 'The Redwood Tree' room and the smaller budget choice of 'The Fox and Feathers' room Ideal for rambling, walking your dog, off and on road cycling, horse riding, exploring nature, 1400's historic villages .
The Woodland suite. This is a spacious, warm and comfortable room with its own shower room with shower, basin and toilet. A cosy double bed will give you a good night's sleep. Heater, USB port, storage, view across the garden where wildlife and birds feed from time to time, clean air and healthy spring water. The spring flows into a brook that flows under the kitchen on its way to the river Teme - the mystery as to why the house was built over the stream has never been solved!" We try to carefully balance our hospitality with your and my privacy, this is our home and you'll be welcomed as part of the family There are two storeys with the bedroom located on the first floor.
  • I extended my stay for a few more weeks because it was a fantastic place to stay. Tosh was so easy to be around & left me in peace if I needed quiet time. So comfortable to sit by his big fire and enjoy all the wildlife.. deer came right into the garden almost every day! It was so worth it in every way. Inexpensive too for what you get!

  • This is a fantastic place to relax, very spacious, comfortable bedrooms with an ensuite ...there were deer & pheasants in the garden almost every day. The Mortimer forest borders the property with miles of walks in every direction! Tosh was amazing, the perfect host, available for every need yet was sensitive when I needed my own space. I would highly recommend Hanway house to anyone wanting to escape to the countryside!

A Scandinavian style wooden building refurbished to a high standard, standing in the grounds of a 16th century black and white cottage. Located on a forested hillside with glorious views, yet only a few miles from the charming market town of Ludlow.
Whilst set in the gardens of a traditional country cottage, this is a self-contained building which has a contemporary feel. It benefits from a versatile open plan sleeping/living area on one level. The convertible bed has been chosen carefully, both to prioritize comfort and in order to maximize the facility by enabling the room to be converted within minutes from sleeping space to lounge space, should you wish to do so. We will have the bed made up ready for your arrival. Up a few steps onto the next level, there is a kitchenette (with microwave, small fridge, kettle and a toaster) with a breakfast bar, and a shower room. The accommodation has been recently converted and refurbished. One of the owners is a three dimensional designer, and this is reflected in the simple, contemporary style.
To quote from The Guardian, May 2016 "This swath south of the Shropshire Hills between Ludlow and the Welsh border is a magical patch straight off the pages of Tolkien, with wooded hills, woodland elves (maybe), rustic taverns and pretty towns and villages filled with old, half-timbered houses painted black-and-white, like a crooked Mondrian". We are located in the hills above Ludlow, an area which is ideal walking, cycling and bird watching country, a base for visiting grand homes and castles and just nine plus miles from the Welsh border. The Cathedral cities of Hereford, Shrewsbury and Worcester are an hour by car. Ludlow, fifteen minutes by car, is an ancient town above the circling River Teme, the castle precariously perched on a hill and Georgian and medieval houses and it boasts many independent shops. Ludlow is also famous for the selection of good quality eating houses and establishments offering fine dining. A quote about Ludlow by Sir John Betjeman reads " Ludlow....is probably the loveliest town in England with its hill of Georgian houses ascending from the river Teme to the great tower of the cross-shaped church, rising behind a classic market building." Wigmore, 3 miles away, has two great pubs serving good food.
  • A lovely stay, excellent hosts, would like to be back again!

  • We loved our stay in this small but very well equipped and cosy chalet style accommodation. It’s amazing how much has been fitted in to the small space but it doesn’t feel cluttered or cramped. • Had a wonderful stay here and couldn’t fault anything. Rob and Karen were super hosts who were very attentive and friendly. They gave us lots of info on the area and made recommendations on places to visit. The breakfast every morning was fab and they always asked us what time we would like it. The patio area was a nice place to enjoy a cuppa in peace and quiet in the morning. The accommodation had everything we needed and was very cosy. We enjoyed it that much we booked an extra night! A tip for anyone staying here and want to use a taxi company then I would advise using PJ’s Taxis, he was very reliable, friendly and happy to pick us up whenever we phoned him. (Dropped us door to door). Overall great experience.

    Chris2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Rob and Karen were amazing hosts, the studio itself was perfectly presented, clean and had everything you need for a short stay. The location was exactly what we were after and was perfectly peaceful but only 5 miles from Ludlow. The breakfasts were as good if not better to any you would get in a tip London hotel. If you are after a short stay in the Ludlow area then we can not recommend this one enough

This renovated self-catering cottage offers a luxurious, open plan interior with original wooden beams and a cosy wood burning stove (logs not provided). Sitting in the heart of the picturesque village of Kingsland, the beautiful countryside of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire is right on your doorstep. With 2 excellent pubs and a village store just a stroll away, relish the welcoming atmosphere of rural Kingsland whilst enjoying this 2 bedroom charismatic accommodation.
The Old Butcher shop is a 2 bedroom brand newly renovated brick cottage ideal for families and small groups of friends. Once just that, many years ago The Old Butcher shop served the locals of Kingsland their joints of beef and rashers of bacon. Now seen a new spruce of life, the cottage offers luxurious accommodation with everything you need for that special break away. Hang up your coat in the entrance hall then make yourself at home in the downstairs open plan living space. Soak up the character of the cottage with the high ceilings exposing the original wooden beams and a mezzanine with the original butcher scales. Step into the contemporary kitchen with stone work tops and cook up a feast on the 2 oven range cooker. Enjoy your dinner at the dining table and then let the dishwasher do the washing up as you relax on the leather sofa around the cosy wood burning stove (logs not provided). Watch your favourite film on the 40inch flat screen TV, get competitive over a game of monopoly or just settle into a wing chair with your nose in a book. For those warmer evenings, step through the double doors into your private outdoor seating area. You can even put a wash in the washing machine if you’ve acquired some muddy splatters on your adventures. Head upstairs to either one of the 2 en-suite bedrooms, have a soak in the bath or grab a quick power shower and then dry off with a soft fluffy towel. When ready for bed, sink into the king size bed with silky smooth linen and even carry on watching your favourite TV series in both bedrooms.
Loved by its locals for its friendly sense of community and beautiful surroundings, Kingsland has a lot to offer all within easy walking distance. There is a church, village green, post office and stores, doctors, traditional village hall, primary school, 2 pubs and a rugby club. Both pubs serve lunch and evening meals using fresh local produce. Visit Emma and Terrence at The Corners inn, grab yourself a pint in the traditional spacious bar and take a seat in one of their bay windows to watch the world go by. Alternatively visit Tavey and Sarah at The Angel inn, sit in front of the open log fire with views over the village green and church. You can take a walk through the fields to the suspension bridge and weir, have a game of tennis at the free tennis courts in the village playing field or head up to the Luctonians rugby club on the weekend to catch our home team playing a match.
  • This was our second stay at the butchers shop and it was just as lovely as our first! The cottage was beautifully clean and is very comfortable. We had dinner at The Angel which was excellent and on our second night we cooked in the cottage which has a well equipped kitchen. We very much hope to come back again soon for a third visit!

  • Perfect place for our visit to the area

    Andrew2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was ideal for us, with two en suite double bedrooms and plenty of space downstairs in the dining/living area. It was sparking clean and warm. The beds were comfortable, the showers efficient, and communication with Kay (who lives next door) was very fluid. Thoroughly recommended!

    Sarah2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Butcher’s shop is a fantastic holiday home full of character but with all the comfort of a newly refurbished property. The house was perfectly clean and so welcoming on a chilly, winters day. The host Kay made sure we had all the relevant check in information a week before our check in date which was much appreciated. The house itself is set in a beautiful village with 2 good pubs and a shop in short walking distance. We hope to return again soon. Thank you Kay.

  • We needed a place to stay close to Luctonians RFC and were lucky enough to find the Old Butchers Shop which didn’t disappoint. Great hospitality in this delightful cottage packed with every mod con required and bags of charm in the lovely village setting of Kingland. Local pubs are both a stones throw away, the food and hospitality in the Angel was great. Would 100% return here if in the area again and recommend it if looking for a clean, tidy and comfortable place to stay.

  • Martin was a spectacular host we had messaged him during Storm Dennis as we was not able to make it home due to the flooding within 10 minutes Martin had welcomed us in into the most lovely converted garden house. Everything was spotless clean with great amenities inside a fresh loaf of bread was a great finishing touch. Would gladly stay here again if ever passing. Highly recommend

  • Temeside Garden House provided the perfect base for our 5 night stay in Ludlow. It is a pleasant 10 minute stroll into town and ideally situated for walking and cycling. Communication with Martin by email was very efficient from the outset and he was an excellent host, unobtrusive yet attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed and keeping us supplied with fresh breakfast ingredients. The accommodation is stylish and spotlessly clean with all the facilities that we required. We would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful property to anyone wanting to savour the many delights that Ludlow has to offer and look forward to visiting again in the future.

  • Highly recommended stay in a stylish, comfortable space. Fast communication and great hospitality.

    Richard2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden House is a treat to stay in. Everything is sparkling clean, the decor very stylish and the whole cottage is extremely well equipped. Communications were excellent - Martin responds so quickly to emails that at one point we were having a conversation! Ludlow is a gem of a place for anyone interested in the tales of medieval daring-do, and the church boasts a wondering stained glass window depciting (among others) Edward IV, Edward V and Prince Arthur - who died tragically in Ludlow Castle aged only 15. The church of St. Laurence is itself a medieval gem, built on older foundations. We were lucky to visit at the time of the Ludlow Festival - a food, music and classic car extravaganza. The weather was perfect too, which made our stay even more enjoyable. There's everything you need to be perfectly happy at the garden house, including lovely tables and chairs in Martin's delightful garden. We shall certainly be back!!!

    Wendy2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the Garden House for 1 night and would certainly return if we are back in Ludlow. The accommodation was very well equipped, with great attention to detail; super warm and clean, plus in an ideal location close to Ludlow. There was a fabulous range of breakfast ingredients provided, with tea and coffee which was also perfect. Martin and Ruby are great hosts and you are sure to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The studio apartment and garden are on the first floor of Greenwich House. The garden is a delightfully sunny and secluded spot set at the rear of the house, with well established shrubs around the curving paths, and a terrace with picnic table for outdoor eating. The big bonus of the studio apartment is being able to walk straight from the living room out into the garden. There is a king size and small double bed available in the apartment. Please let me know of the sleeping arrangements.
The main living room, panelled in Georgian pine, is spacious and light. It houses the main double bed, the sitting area, the dining area and the mini-kitchen, which is hidden away behind a mirrored wall unit. It is all very convenient, attractive and romantic. The mini-kitchen is complete with table-top cooker, full-sized fridge and combi microwave. The apartment has a separate bathroom with shower unit and a dressing room. Sheets, blankets towels and duvets are provided. There is a TV/DVD, Radio/CD, iron/ironing board. Good WIFI signal. Patking- several different options depending on your holiday plans.
There is so much to visit and explore within a short radius of Ludlow town such as Church Stretton and the long mind, Ironbridge gorge, much Wenlock and Bridgnorth.

The 'Redwood Tree' room is in Hanway House which is a warm, rustic, self-catering country cottage. You'll stay in a private conservation area, Mortimer Forest, farm and wild life. The largest of our three room listing options. Then we have the en-suite 'The 'Woodlands Suite', en-suite comfort and the smaller budget choice of The 'Fox and Feathers' a lovely nest of a room. Ideal for rambling, walking your dog, off and on road cycling, horse riding, exploring nature, 1400's historic villages .
The Redwood Tree room. This is a spacious, warm and comfortable room. A cosy double bed will give you a good night's sleep. Heater, USB port, storage, desk, view across the grass where animal and birds feed from time to time, clean air and healthy spring water.
