“Very popular cafe in the morning; transforms into a bar in the late afternoon where you can enjoy sunset cocktails and local malvazija (white wine).”

“Istrian Sushi This is a fine dining experience. They have a set menu that changes often depending on what is fresh. All their raw seafood is from the Adriatic sea. The New York Times went last summer and include them in their article 36 hours in Istria. ”

Museum
“Lapidarium Museum houses one of the most important collections of stone monuments in Croatia. Numbering about 100, the monuments hail from the first to the eighteenth century. Half of the monuments, mostly representing elements of church architecture from the Parish Church of St. Pelagius, are part of the museum’s permanent exhibition. The museum’s most interesting exhibit is the ciborium of Bishop Mauritius, dating from the end of the eighth century. Originating in the parish church, it was built during the time of the Frankish state and its famous ruler Charlemagne, when Novigrad was the centre of the diocese and secular Frankish rule. The area of the museum housing the ciborium has been built to resemble the baptistery in which it was originally located. This is yet another shining example of the progressive use of architecture in presenting ancient monuments.”

“Our favorite restaurant in Novigrad has amazing seafood dishes that are not so typical. raw scampi, black risotto, fish cooked in salt all cooked to perfection. This is a family run restaurant the mom and dad wait tables and their son is the chef. They are Michelin recommended and on their way to a star. ”

“If the weather is not at its best or the sea still too cold to swim, check Aminess Hotel Maestral in Novigrad and its excellent wellness centre featuring a 25-metre pool with heated sea water, spa zone with three different saunas, facial and body treatments, whirlpool, and a gym. The pool entrance is about 8 EUR; combined with a spa 20 EUR. ”
