While the location was conveniently close to the downtown area, there were additions to the apartment that we were not aware of that took away from the overall space in the apartment (I.e desk, chair, twin bed). Also, there was no hot water when we tried to shower. We let the water run for a while to warm up and it didn't. I do think outside of that, this place is a good place to stay over night.

This place was exactly as it was described! It's close to downtown new london and not too far from casinos also! Keith met us at the apartment when we arrived after 10pm! Small but reasonably priced and has everything you need for an over night stay! Thanks Keith!

Basic amenities, clean linens, great stay for a low price. Small kitchen more than adequate for 1 or a few people. Room for a couple friends if needed. Very bright due to street lighting nearby.

Easy place to stay short term. In walking distance from the train/Greyhound station. Check-in and check-out were super simple. The kitchen was a little bare so if you're looking to cook for a party, it might not be so easy. The bedroom has two beds, one twin and one queen, the queen-sized mattress was VERY comfortable and I liked that Keith had a few board games in the apartment as well. Lastly, he did warn me that the shower might only get 5 min of hot water but I tried to keep my shower time to a minimum and did not have any problems with it.

It was in a little bit of sketchy neighborhood. But besides that, it was as expected. It was accurately described in the description.

Great place to crash for the night near Ocean Beach Park where my boyfriend was playing with his band. Daphne Lee is sweet and greeted us so nicely. Her home is very cool and spacious with a great creative vibe. Room was fine and the use of the private bathroom right outside the door was very convenient. It was pretty quiet there..... except for the train whistles from the nearby Amtrak station! That did affect my rest for the night somewhat, but I am a light sleeper.

Historic house in downtown New London. I picked it for proximity to ferries and off-street parking. It's an easy one mile or less walk. The kitchen is huge, well-equipped and spotless. The living room is comfortably furnished and has a large TV with cable. The bedroom is sizable and has a queen bed, easy chair, bedside table, desk and chair, closet space, bedside lamp, ceiling fan, and a window AC unit. Wifi signal is strong. I never met my hostess, Daphne, as she had to work late, but she was excellent with prompt, clear text communiqués. I would definitely return and recommend it for its location, amenities, price, and professionalism of the hostess.

My stay was even better than I expected. Krista was very responsive throughout and Daniel showed me the building once I arrived. Everything was very clean and organized, and decorated well. Lots of bathrooms to use in case there are multiple guests at one time. I arrived on a Friday evening and didn't have to worry about parking at all because the public lot across the street was free over the weekend. Towels provided, tea in the kitchen, clean bedrooms. I would stay again.

This was by far the best AirBNB we have ever stayed in! Clean and funky, scientifically efficient and sparkling design throughout, not to mention the wonderful kitchen space to cook up whatever pleases you. We felt right at home. Very much a prime Hostel site. The neighborhood was buzzing! Sunlit space inside to chill as well. Absolutely charming!

The Haynes family were perfect hosts! The (massive) house is walking distance from the Amtrak train station (although Jamie was kind enough to drive over to pick us up) and near a plethora of restaurants. Everything was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Would easily go back again. If you're looking for the BnB experience like you'd see in a movie, this is the place.

Friendly atmosphere. Easy location to get to the highway and go to Mohegan Sun in 20 mins. Simple furnishings, clean. Some mix up with the keys/entry but it was cleared up in the end. Fantastic breakfast!

Bessie, James & family are wonderful hosts - extremely accommodating and friendly. They provide hot breakfasts during the weekends and even offered to give us a ride to the Block Island ferry dock. The place itself is charming, quaint and conveniently located - a 10-15 minute walk to downtown, and 10-15 minute walk to the Block Island Ferry. Absolutely recommend the big house!

So many details meticulously attended to in this splendid, stately house. Lourdes and Jamie made the whole hospitality thing look easy as they offered water taxi and beach passes, access to their pool and local craft brew kegs, freshly baked bread and mouthwatering hot waffles, bacon, and eggs along with the cereal and yogurt breakfast fare (weekend stays only I believe). They're happy to chat but respectful of your preferences if you choose to keep more to yourself; the house was beautifully furnished and comfortably cool with fans and open windows; the value was unbeatable and the views from the widow's watch are breathtaking. Lourdes said the house was full while I stayed but I hardly heard or saw any of the other guests. Also the house is incredibly modern for its age--my room and bathroom had several grounded outlets, which surprised me (I've had trouble finding them in houses half the age of this one)--and wifi was easily available. I feel lucky to have stayed here with Jamie and Lourdes!

The Big House is the only place to stay in NL. Lourdes and the family were great hosts and made my stay in town pleasant and relaxed. The house is beautiful, and the accommodations perfect for someone who is coming in for research or work purposes. I left early each morning, and a hearty breakfast was waiting for me on the way out. In the evening, there are several great restaurants within walking distance, and many places to relax by yourself or with company in the home. Highly highly recommended.

This place is like an art gallery. Half of the fun of our trip to New London was simply looking at all of Abram's art, decor, and books. This place has so much character! The Victorian home that his apartment in is stunning and is just oozing with history. It's also a convenient 10-min walk to the center where all of the shops and restaurants are located.

Arriving at Abram's apartment, we were totally blown away! The apartment is in an old whaling mansion, so the architecture and atmosphere are so wonderfully authentic to the area. Additionally, Abram left a lovely note for us with all the information we would need, clean towels, and a very comfortable and beautiful home. We were spending most of our time in Mystic at the Seaport and the aquarium, and this was a very short drive to everything we wanted to see. We also ended up exploring a bit of New London, and highly recommend both Captain Scott's Lobster Dock and Gaspar's for delicious food. You should be aware that the apartment is on the 3rd floor, so if you have any mobility issues this might not be the easiest for you. Other than that, I can't recommend staying here highly enough.

Abram was a wonderful host and so quick to respond at all times. His apartment was so artfully designed and decorated for the space. The entrance lockpad can be tricky but overall, what an awesome apt to stay at within a building erected in 1895. Not really walking friendly to downtown but with a car, super close to waterfront and supermarkets (parking was easy everywhere). Would recommend anyone to stay here looking to explore New London and neighboring towns!

Melissa's place was spectacular!! Very beautiful well kept apartment! My 5 friends and I had a very comfortable stay. Great location we were 15-30 minutes away from all our events. The apartment was GPS friendly and very easy to find with a Walgreens down the street for our last minute forgotten items. Melissa and her property manager were very helpful, pleasant and respectful people. I can't say enough positive things about our stay. Nice updated apartment. Spacious enough for 4 adults and a child. Coffee, assorted teas, dry creamer, spices, waters, and chocolates all provided as a nice touch. Linens are very nice. I'd arrived on the USCG Eagle Cutter tall sailing ship after a week at sea and Frank and Lynda's home was a quiet place to rest and explore. Could not imagine anything better. I'll be back!

Frank was a great host and provided us lots of detail about the area. The room was exactly as described and very clean. It was perfect for our weekend stay. The welcome basket filled with snacks and treats was much appreciated and nice to have for our stay. Although our stay was short and we didn't get to enjoy it, the backyard patio was beautiful with tons of flowers and very private. Frank offered us coffee each morning and was there to greet us when we arrived and upon leaving. I highly recommend it.

Frank and Lynda were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming and had great recommendations for food and drink nearby. This was a perfect base for exploring New London—we barely had to use the car at all. The room and private bath were beautifully decorated and had all the amenities we might want or need.

You will fall in love with this listing even before stepping a foot inside. Located in a Historic Street only a 5 minute walk from Union Station, you will find this picturesque colonial home stocked with all the comforts of home. Frank hands you keys to your own entrance and has several flyers on hand with recommendations of where to explore. Please do explore the area too because there are wonderful little shops and cafés hidden throughout downtown. Favorite local finds where the Bean & Leaf coffeeshop and The Telegraph record store, both which rival quality and service of large urban centers. Thanks to these friendly hosts our stay was quite comfortable and enjoyable!

My wife and I had a very nice stay at Susan's. We have a son who attends Connecticut College, so it is an easy drive to campus. The neighborhood was quiet and we both felt very safe. Susan is a delight and very helpful in making the stay enjoyable and comfortable. She explains all the amenities and where to find things you might need. She keeps the rooms and the house very clean and welcoming.

Susan's space was very nice. It was very clean, comfortable, and just overall very nice. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean. She cooked my partner and I a very delicious breakfast, and she was very friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be staying in her space again if we visit New London in the future.

We had a fun stay with Susan. She is very welcoming and friendly, as is Mr Bentley! Because there were no other guests she upgraded us to her bigger room which has the most comfortable bed I have come across in air bnb! She made a delicious breakfast. We had such a great experience at Krista's beautiful home. It is an INCREDIBLE space - just so neat to see the winding stairways, the gorgeous tile floor and high ceilings when you enter. We were attending a wedding and couldn't check in until later - Krsita made sure we were able to get in and had lights on for us. Our room was everything we needed - very simple but tasteful (with very comfy pillows!). The bathroom and shower were just down the hall. It was like a really cool hostel. Thanks, Krista!

Before I arrive at the place, she asked me how to come and picked me up at train station. When I leaving the house, she also picked me up to train station. For tourist this kind of pick up is too convenient.

This is a lovely home. I was amazed by the size ... the name fits!! Rooms are nicely decorated, clean and very quiet. Crisp white cotton sheets and lovely white curtains blowing gently...very relaxing environment. The hosts are so pleasant and accommodating. I liked that they had an elegant table setting in the morning with a help yourself setup of good coffee and a tasty strata with swiss chard from their garden. I am sure I will be a frequent visitor here when I visit my brother in New London. August 2014

Lourdes was fabulous. Upon arrival she offered us a glass of wine and gave us a tour of The Big House. We immediately felt like family. Breakfast was made to order including egg bakes, omelettes and pancakes from scratch. It was a great place to stay if you're looking to go to Block Island or hang out around New London. Everything is within walking distance of The Big House and Lourdes gave us advice on all the hot spots downtown. We invited our family down for the afternoon where we relaxed by the pool and sat out on the porch. It was dog friendly and our pup Hannah enjoyed her stay, there was a large backyard and plenty of guests there to entertain her. We definitely recommend The Big House to couples, families and dog lovers and we will be back soon.

We stayed with Lourdes and James for almost a week, and it was great! The house is big and often with multiple tenants so there's plenty of opportunity to socialize but at the same time it is possible to close the door if some alone time is needed. The pool was godsend with two small kids and hot weather and there were plenty of toys for them to play with. Lourdes and James are the best hosts you'll find. They provided us with parking passes, free beer on the keg, beach toys and even did our laundry! We really felt like a part of their family and could not be happier! Great place, and if we're ever back in Connecticut, we'll be back!

It's a great little place with a very thoughtful host. The place itself is very cozy and has all the amenities you would need for your stay. The apartment is in a quiet little area that's reasonably to downtown New London.

This little apartment was perfect for what we needed for NYE. Not too far from the highways and the casinos. Paul was always available via text for any questions we had. The water pressure in the shower is not super powerful but it gets the job done. The futon is squeaky, so if you toss and turn like me, just put the mattress on the floor and the frame in the kitchen. The walls are thin so you may hear some rumblings down stairs, but for the most part it is pretty private. Recommend walking around Downtown Mystic and if you make it to Downtown New London and you like wings and beer try Hot Rods. We got their Thai Chili and Mango Habenero wings and the Sweet Baby Jesus beer. SBJ is Peanut Butter and Chocolate. So yummy!
