  • Castern Hall is stunning. From the drive up to the front gate everything exceeded our expectations. The interiors are beautiful and full of quirky artifacts. Anyone visiting should note this is obviously a well loved family home, so has lots of personal items. For us this just added to the sense of history. The beds were very comfortable and it was lovely to wake up and be surrounded by amazing countryside. Castern Hall is a fantastic location for any groups looking for an unusual and unforgettable location for a celebration.

Located in a stunning valley in the Derbyshire National park, it sits high up with fantastic views out of every window. Each bedroom has its very own personality. They are full of lovely paintings, antiques and collectables. The perfectly made beds with white ironed linen and cosy throws are seriously comfortable. • A beautiful, spacious and cosy cottage. Perfect for a winter break, with the comfy sofa and wood-burning stove, but I can see it would be amazing in summer with the pool! The big kitchen was perfect for family meals, and the huge living room gave our toddler plenty of play-space. The location is gorgeous, but also just a short drive from Ashbourne shops and cafes. Izzy was so helpful and flexible too. Highly recommended!

Stay in true 'to the manor born' style in this luxurious wing of Mappleton Manor. You have the house and garden to yourselves as well as ample private parking spaces at the end of a long drive. Inside there are spacious, Georgian rooms with shutters and high ceilings but the house still has a cosy, welcoming feel. George Eliot chose this beautiful spot, on the banks of the River Dove, with soaring 360 degree views, to pen Adam Bede! What will its setting inspire in you?
This is a special house in a unique setting. You will fall in love with the 360 degree views and the towering Peaks of Thorpe Cloud and Bunster Hill just a short distance away. This large manor normally sleeps 8 in total in three bedrooms, with the added option of a cot in any of the main bedrooms and a small blow up bed for another child - on request and payment of a small supplement. Two additional people can stay on the sofa bed in the drawing room downstairs, although this will impact on living space ( additional supplements apply for use of the sofa bed and all guests over 8 in total). Discounts may be available for smaller size parties - please ask on booking. All bedding and towels are included as well as essentials such as shower gels, coffee, tea and sugar and a huge basket of logs for the cozy log burning stove. Make your breakfasts even more special with our free-range eggs from Chatsworth Estate-reared hens. Depending on availability and time of arrival we will meet you with a delicious home-made cream tea or a glass of wine. We also offer a full range of luxurious spa treatments including facials, manicures and masssages as well as pamper parties for any number of guests from only £15 each.
The local pub serves guest ales, superb food and is just a short stroll along the banks of the River Dove - possibly one of the best reasons to come. We are also so close to Alton Towers and just a hop away in the car from Chatsworth. Bakewell, Buxton, Leek and all the attractions of the Peak District are literally on the doorstep. Walkers will love its location.
  • Absolutely stunning .. a privilege to stay. Loved snuggling up on the sofa reading. Loved the amazing views. Loved feeding Red and Rocco, the stunning horses. Loved watching the sheep feed their lambs on “our front lawn”. Even the miserable rain and weather could not spoil our time in this beautiful house.

    Kathleen2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, in a beautiful setting. Felt very cosy and at home. Loved the little touches - fresh flowers, teapot and cups set out with tea on our arrival. Very special place.

  • What a gem. A gorgeous house set in beautiful countryside. Kim was so helpful in working out which bedroom set up would work for us and all the little Christmassy touches were so lovely. Even down to the Christmas loo paper! You must definitely take your walking boots as there's so many lovely walks nearby.

    Kerra-May2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Kim's. She was very welcoming and gave so much information about how to get there and what to do around the area. The additional touch of a beautician coming to the house to do treatments was amazing. The house was clean and in an idyllic setting. I would highly recommend staying at Kim's and would definitely go back.

  • The manor is an absolutely stunning place, it offers fantastic views and is only a stone’s throw away from the peak district. Kim was an excellent host, it was a pleasure to meet someone so friendly and she made sure that our group had everything we needed for our stay. The manor has great amenities, I recommend getting the fireplace going as it is very cosy and great for an evening indoors!

Our cottage is self contained and attached to our house. There is a sunken hot tub in the garden. Set in a tranquil, traditional Peak District village with local pub, there's a small shop in the pub that's open during pub opening hours. Perfect location for keen walkers, climbers or cyclists and there are several lovely National Trust houses, including Chatsworth, within easy driving distance. Ashbourne is 15 mins away with good quality independent shops, pubs and restaurants.
The cottage is for your sole use and is very cosy with a wood burning stove, generous wood supply and well equipped kitchen. There is TV, DVD, radio and wifi and there is off street parking for one vehicle. There is a kitchen/sitting room, with a separate double bedroom. There are quite steep stairs down to the beautiful modern bathroom. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a hot towel rail and a shower with a lovely bath for a good soak after an active day. Soap, plenty of towels and a hairdryer is provided. The bed linen is pure white cotton. The bed linen and towels are dried outside in the sun, so they are not 'drier soft and fluffy' but they smell wonderfully fresh! The king size double bed can be separated into two singles. If that is your preference, please let me know when you book.
The Peak District is a hidden gem for walking, rock climbing, cycling and enjoying historic houses. Parwich is a quiet and very pretty village that has featured in the Sunday Times top 50 rural communities for the last two years. It is a village with little traffic as it is not on the way to anywhere and therefore does not have a busy road going though it. There are traditional amenities such as a beautiful church, a very old Robinson's pub: The Sycamore, (under new management) and a lovely, well run British Legion bar that welcomes outsiders. There is also a tennis court for public use and a monthly film showing in the very fine, modern village Memorial Hall. There is a shop in the pub for basic needs. There is an excellent blog that features the activities in the village: Parwich . org where you can find out what's on during your stay.
  • Such a cosy, comfy cottage with great little fire, bath, and a nice hot tub outside to really relax in. Everything was there that we needed and everything was very well kept and clean. Thanks Caroline!

  • The cottage is a cosy cottage nestled in the village of Parwich with great walks right on your doorstep. I come with my boyfriend for a quiet weekend to walk, relax and explore the Peak District. The cottage has everything you could need for a lovely break. With the village pub around the corner and Ashbourne a short drive away you have everything need within easy enough distance for it to still be a peaceful getaway. There was always plenty of hot water after a days walking and the hot tub was very lovely to relax in. The log burner was great feature too. I'd definitely recommend staying at the cottage.

  • Would absolutely recommend this beautiful cottage. Audrey and her husband were fantastic hosts, very quick responses and really went the extra mile. The views from the cottage were stunning and there were lots of little homely touches in the cottage. The fire place was cozy, the board games were fun, and the cakes and scones were a real treat!

  • The cottage is great, it’s very clean and has everything you could possibly need. It was really homely, and you can tell Audrey has put a lot of thought into ensuring guests feel at home, she also provided a fantastic welcome basket which sorted out our breakfasts for the entire visit. I thought from the pictures the cottage was attached to the main house, but it is completely detached and we had complete privacy, it was very quiet and easy to relax. Audrey provides a folder detailing some great local walks and places to eat, it’s all brilliant and we look forward to returning.

  • We have had such incredible luck this trip. Our AirBnB’s have been wonderful! And this particular one shares the win for the most thoughtful in decor, ease of entry, comfort inside, as well as lovely, welcoming homemade goodies!:-) The location was perfect for us. And The George (pub/restaurant within walking distance) gave us one of the very best meals we have ever had in England! The views were to die for, and it was so quiet and peaceful. The cottage is behind the Hosts’ house, and the area is mostly open in front and back, although there are homes on either side, which one really doesn’t notice while staying there. It is on the outskirts of the village, and beautifully rural.:-) Our Hosts could not have been more lovely and welcoming! And every single detail was perfection, in our opinion. (Be sure to see their unbelievably beautiful information book!) They have outdoor lighting that was on a motion sensor to help light your way to and from the car, and off road parking is included. The bed is more comfy than most, and the TV room is incredibly cozy, with the little log burner that warms the home to perfection. One word of caution - for those who are larger, the very “slim” shower could potentially be a problem. The bathroom is small, but done perfectly for its size. They even have a tall, wall shelf that I would like in our home. It’s the perfect place to put all of your toiletries! This truly was a special place, with every detail thoughtfully cared for. We can not recommend it, or it’s Hosts, highly enough!

  • Literally the best place we've ever stayed on Air BnB. Audrey was an impeccable host and the cottage is picture perfect. So many lovely thoughtful touches and a footpath into the countryside right outside the door. Would recommend to anyone.

Charming and comfortable cottage for two located in the guest wing of our long traditional farmhouse. We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience. *IF YOU INTEND TO HIRE THE HOT TUB OR SAUNA, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS AVAILABLE WHEN YOU BOOK* (extra cost - for price see 'other things to note' section) Through its own front door you have a small entrance hall with hanging space for coats, a cosy sitting room with log stove, books and a big flat telly if you need it. This leads to a light and comfortable kitchen dining room. This room, with its glass roof, used to be the old barrel ceilinged wash house with an old copper for heating the water. Now it has a small, simple but well equipped kitchen and a big table where you can relax and watch the cows or sheep wander past. The back door, leads up old stone steps to a tiny patio area with garden furniture, but, of course you can also enjoy the big country garden at the front of the house too. Up the main stairs there is a little landing which leads to a spacious bedroom with the best of the beautiful views across the Peak District and beyond. There is a canopied king size bed with beautifully laundered Egyptian cotton sheets in which you can oversleep and the room's en-suite bathroom has a rainfall shower. We have a large biomass boiler which provides plenty of hot-water and keeps the central heating going whenever you need it so you will be cosy and warm all year round. Walk straight from the door over beautiful Bunster hill to Dovedale and its famous stepping stones, or along the ridge of the Manifold Valley, or beyond, there are so many walks to choose from.
Swallows skimming about, the scent of homemade organic bread and a selection of local and homemade goodies are the things that may greet you when you arrive at our organic dairy farm in the Peak District National Park. Our home is a farmhouse on an organic dairy farm in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Built from local limestone the farmhouse has been added to over the centuries since the 1500's. We run our business in the most environmentally friendly way we can without compromising on comfort for our guests. In 2018 we won gold for Sustainability in the Enjoy Staffs Tourism Awards! We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience (make sure you reserve this when you book your accommodation as it is very popular - and does cost extra).
The farm is set in the most stunning scenery and looks over the valleys of the Peak District. There are three self catering cottages on the farm, but none are overlooked. The village of Ilam is picturesque with beautiful chocolate box Swiss style houses and past the Anglo Saxon church there is Ilam Park, a National Trust property with a lovely tearoom. Our nearest towns are Ashbourne and Leek, both market towns with quirky shops and boutiques alongside the usual shops and supermarkets. There is a host of interesting villages such as Tissington with the best traditional sweet shop ever or Hartington with a delicious farm shop cafe and legendary cheese shop. Further afield there is Bakewell, Buxton, Tideswell and Eyam. We are spoiled for choice with interesting places to visit: Chatsworth; Haddon Hall; Sudbury Hall; Go Ape; Alton Towers; Peak Wildlife Park; Coombs Valley Nature Reserve; Crich Tramway Museum or The Heights of Abraham are just a few. We are really lucky that we have some brilliant pubs and restaurants in the area for a great selection of real ale or really delicious food.
  • Lovely quiet break away just what the doctor ordered, loved the fire and cake was a lovely touch

  • This is a brilliant place to come and relax. A cosy property, great views, lovely hosts. And for us, having access to an electric car charge point was a real plus. Highly recommended.

  • We booked The old wash tub for a final break before back to work after Christmas. The cottage is lovely, welcoming and clean, in a beautiful location. It’s very quiet which is just what we wanted. Alex and rob even had cake waiting for us on arrival which was a really lovely touch! We also loved that the fire was lit and they even had a little Christmas tree in the cottage. We booked the hot tub experience which was amazing. We used it from 6pm and it was lovely and warm all evening, we enjoyed Cava and chocolates with the luxury package and candles and the fire had been lit in the cave, it was amazing! On booking I did think the extras like the hot tub prices are a little expensive, but I’m still really glad we did it, it was a lovely way to spend the evening (and of course it was our decision to book the extras, we where in no way obliged to, we just couldn’t resist!) All in all we have had a lovely weekend and have already told our friends about your lovely place. Thanks Alex and rob!

  • Great cottage and lovely people

    Jayson2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed in a number of rental cottages over the years, the Wash house, by far, comes at the top of the list in terms of quality of accommodation. Alex & Rob have created a home from home with this place, we would change nothing, top rate.

  • Beechenhill Farm and the Old Wash House is an idyllic location from which to explore the upper reaches of the River Dove. Superb views across the dales and hills from the bedroom the Old Wash House is tastefully decorated, warm and cosy the Log Burner provides additional heat and enhances the relaxing atmosphere. You are guaranteed a comfortable nights sleep in the feature bedroom and the en-suite shower WC and washroom are clean and inviting with plenty of towels. High Recommended

    Andrew2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Alex & Rob's place. The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The local villages are conveniently located and the apartment is very quiet! Would absolutely recommend to stay there! Will certainly revisit in the summer months!

    Cam2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay, spacious, all the amenities and more, lovely hosts, we couldn’t have asked for a better trip! We were very well looked after, the hosts went above and beyond. The location is stunning and there is so much to do nearby - with personal favourites given from the hosts - and their recommendations should definitely be followed! Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away and we will definitely be coming back.

Situated within the walled grounds of the Alstonefield Manor this little cottage provides a perfect hideaway in the hills of the Peak District National Park. A perfect spot to just get away, relax and explore the stunning countryside right from the door. The cottage features, a log burner, stone thralls, wooden shutters, exposed beams a fully fitted hand made kitchen and on the first floor a high pitched roof over the king size bed. Being located in the landscaped gardens of the manor house guests can access the gardens and take advantage of the spectacular views across the valleys. Being located in the village of Alstonefield it also benefits from being a short stagger to the award winning George Inn.
  • Gardener's Cottage is a wonderful retreat set in the grounds of Alstonefield Manor. The gardens are beautiful & full of birds, as are the views across the fields from the back. We drove to some amazing walks, but you can step right onto footpaths all over Alstonefield. Hosts Jo and Robert are very helpful if you need them, and Jo gave us some really lovely homemade cakes! Beautiful cottage in a picturesque village in the stunning Peaks...

  • Perfect spot to stay if you are looking for a private corner. Easy to find and a fantastic base for daily excursions to near by places including Dovedale, Manifold valley and Thor cave. Host Robert and Jo were very helpful. They left a useful guide book for local walks. On arrival, they had left a jug of milk in the fridge and fruit cake- a particularly nice touch. I would certainly come back again to Robert’s place if I return to the Peak District Biju

  • A beautiful, quaint and delightful cottage set in the grounds of Alstonefield Manor. We had use of the gardens, had ample parking and met the wonderful and friendly hosts, Rob, Jo and Bertie. Thoughtful little touches were found in the Cottage alongside the usual amenities and lots of local information. A peaceful base for exploring the Peak District. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful few days...and for the gorgeous cakes!

Charming, cosy stone cottage on the outskirts of Wetton, adjacent to a pre 1700 farmhouse. Lovely views of surrounding countryside. Great base for exploring this beautiful part of the White Peak, very popular with walkers and cyclists. Ideal for couples or single guests. Has a galleried double bedroom with shower and toilet. Downstairs there is an open plan sitting/diner with kitchen area. Featuring beamed ceilings. Small south facing sitting out area and off road parking.
Well behaved pets are welcome but please bear in mind that Wetton is a working farming village and livestock will be around various fields throughout the year. Pam and Joh your hosts have lived here for 33 years and are keen to share the information they have gathered over time with you/
Wetton is so well centred at the heart of the White Peak and is surrounded by stunning hills and dales, which just have to be seen. The village also benefits from a great pub serving guest ales and an award winning village hall tea rooms.
  • John is an exceptional host, we had very warm welcome and John gave us great local tips which we used. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed including nice electric stove that kept us warm and cosy. The nature and all walks were on our door step - the beautiful Dove Valley and caves . We used the car only once to go to a near village pub, the Black Lion in Butterton , that had amazing food and has very friendly local atmosphere. The Royal Oak in Wetton was lovely and very friendly. Had breakfast in the Tea Room in the village - excellent! In all it was great stay!

  • Had the most relaxing stay beautiful place in a tiny village if you value peace and quiet this is the place ideal base for walking or cycling . Lovely touches when you arrive fresh bread, milk, butter and small bottle of fizz. The village has a pub which is ideal, no shops which for me I loved. Would highly recommend as a single traveller very safe and the local people are so friendly, a place to turn your mobile off get back to the great outdoors and take in all the countryside has to offer

  • Johns place “Fred’s Shed” was a beautiful, peaceful place to stay for a thoroughly relaxing time . John is the most friendliest host and the welcome he gave us was lovely. We highly recommend the local pub for friendliness and definitely for the food as the old school tea rooms for breakfast. The views are totally gorgeous around Wetton. Thankyou for a lovely weekend.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at John and Pam's Airbnb. We were blown away by the many thoughtful touches on arrival and they gave us all the local tips we needed to make the most of the area. The place itself is lovely - clean, cosy, had everything we needed and was in an ideal location for enjoying the Peaks. We loved everything about our stay.

    Jess2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable, very welcoming. Would be happy to return.

    Margaret2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • John and Pam's cottage is an absolute gem, the welcome we received as we entered the cottage on the evening of Valentine's day was so incredibly thoughtful with 2 roses and a platter of valentine's nibbles, candles (though bring your own matches!), heart fairy lights and a well stocked fridge of butter, bread, eggs and milk was so much more than we could have expected. The cottage was plenty warm enough in the middle of storm Dennis, and has a wonderfully cosy feel to it in general. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

    Jessica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • John’s place is a wonderful cottage in a wonderful setting. Extremely peaceful but full of so much adventure. John is a great host and has lots of tips on where to go. The Royal Oak pub is a must and so is the town halls cafe. The personal touches in the cottage made it feel ‘just like home’. This was my first air B&B and I would definitely love to return.

    Hannah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, lots of local walks. Very comfortable and cosy, John was fantastic and so helpful. The little breakfast drawer, milk and bread was appreciated! Alongside the little bottle of Prosecco and nibbles, it was the perfect stay for the end of our travels! Thank you so much, would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere in the Peak District!

Panoramic Views: Cosy up next to the log burner or pamper yourself in the wood-fired hot-tub under the stars. This fabulous, cosy barn conversion is compact, bijou and perfect as a romantic retreat for two. Gaia Lodge, a former piggery, nestles in an elevated position on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border which falls within the southern area of the Peak District National Park. Gaia Lodge boasts panoramic views of the undulating countryside, dotted with natural hedgerows and dry stone walls; so characteristic of the Derbyshire Dales. It can be found 165 yards away from the family run caravan and camping site of Upper Hurst Farm, which has been awarded the coveted Environmental Quality Mark award. The warm, gritstone cottage has been renovated with much love, with exposed Douglas fir King-post trusses, stone flag flooring and a log-burner for cosy nights in. Logs are provided free of charge as is WiFi. Inside the Cottage: The cottage is lavishly furnished with hand-made linen curtains and blinds, goose-feather & down pillows and duvet. We also have Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels, fluffy dressing gowns and a mini-breakfast hamper on arrival. It is enhanced further by fully controllable underfloor heating for toasty toes! The kitchen has a granite worktop with quality fixtures and fittings and modern appliances, including a dishwasher. There is a stone-flagged seating area with a westerly aspect overlooking Ecton Hill which includes a washing line. Outside the Cottage: There is a small, gated and walled garden with a north-west aspect where you can enjoy the last drop of evening sun. This garden leads to a further completely private, decked patio area (south-west facing and becoming a little sun-trap) with a red cedar, wood-fired hot-tub, to provide a truly special and memorable stay. Within the decked patio area there is also a gas-fired barbecue and seating with sun-loungers.
"What a little gem – in every way. Sue has created a relaxing and luxurious little retreat. The lodge is beautifully and lovingly decorated and furnished. Sue has thought about your every need and equipped the lodge accordingly. The hot tub is absolutely fantastic – especially during November. Sue is so kind and generous and there to help if needed but not in any way intrusive. The local walking is stunning and there are plenty of places to visit locally including good pubs and restaurants. Sue – you should be incredibly proud of your glorious lodge. A high thank you from us both xx" - John and Steph - Derby
We are very rural and in the centre of a Derbyshire Dale (1 mile) and a Staffordshire Dale (1 mile) so there are walks and cycle rides immediately from the site. We are also very central within the four major Peak District market towns of Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne and Leek all about 10 miles away. Chatsworth House and Matlock are about 12 miles.
  • Had an amazing time here. Lodge was amazing and the hot tub was lovely. Definitely would come back again.

  • We stayed at Gaia Lodge for 4 nights in February with our 10 month old daughter. We had a great stay, it was cosy and very clean with everything you could need for a trip to the Peak District. The location is great, close to public footpaths for walks and the Manifold Trail to cycle. We loved the hot tub and went in each night, it’s also lovely to have a log burner in the lodge when it’s cold outside. Sue is a lovely host - she couldn’t have been more helpful.

  • Cosy cottage in the middle of a stunning landscape, the perfect place to escape to for a few nights. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well stocked, the hot tub is of course a great addition! Susan was a great host, showing us around when we arrived and explaining how everything worked. She is clearly passionate about making people feel welcome and sharing this special space with newcomers. I would definitely return!

  • Me and my friends had the most wonderful time at the Beechenhill Farm! The cottage is really beautiful and cosy, beds are incredible comfortable, great water pressure and all cleaning products are environmentally friendly, we really appreciated all the attention given towards sustainability and felt the connection with nature here. We had a night we will never forget in the hot tub and sauna and can’t thank Alex, Rob, Terry and Sue Prince (your paintings are beautiful!) for the amazing hospitality - they took really really good care of us and we felt incredibly welcomed. We got to see a calf that was born on the night we arrived which was magical. The area is of outstanding beauty and we will cherish our memories from our weekend there forever. Can’t thank you enough for everything!

It's the perfect place for relaxing and a great base for exploring the Peak District and all its attractions. There's something for everyone here from the splendours of Chatsworth House to the thrills of Alton Towers.
Grindon is a small, quiet, picturesque hamlet, surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are some lovely pubs within a 10 minute drive and Leek (20 minutes away) has a great selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants, many of which are dog friendly.
  • A lovely rural location, very quiet! Plenty of beautiful places to visit within a 15-30 minute drive. Bern was a very friendly and helpful host. Perfect place for a countryside getaway.

  • A lovely cottage in peaceful surroundings.

    Justin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was an absolute gem. A perfectly quaint little bungalow with a modern but cosy interior. Not only did Nic and Bern provide all the information we needed to get the most out of the surrounding area, but they thoughtfully left instructions on how to get the most out of the house (specifically regarding the log fire which was a god send in February!). As hosts, they were friendly and helpful without being at all invasive. The house itself was perfectly furnished with everything you could possibly need, including things we didn’t expect like the hot water bottle and the flask. Thank you so much for hosting us, we hope to come back soon.

  • A cosy and well equipped little cottage in beautiful surroundings with friendly hosts. The cottage is a perfect base for exploring the Peak District. We stayed in February and made good use of the log burner in the evenings. We will definitely book again.

  • If you want somewhere to rest and recharge this is the place. Perfectly situated so it was easy to travel throughout the Peak District. Bakewell and Leek both within easy and quick drives. The cottage is perfectly set out with the living room comfy and cozy, especially with the fire going. We took some DVDs and it was the perfect hide away. The cottage was super clean and comfortable, highly recommended and we will definitely be back. Maybe in the summer so we can sit out on the little patio and admire the gorgeous view.

    Grace2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 5 nights at the Wayward cottage over the Christmas period, the cottage is beautiful - bedroom, lounge and kitchen are cosy yet spacious, there's a wood burner and central heating so keeping warm was really simple. The cottage is situated right next to the farm where the hosts live, so even though it's remote we didn't feel isolated. We did a 7 mile walk on Christmas eve, taking in Wetton Mill and Butterton where we ate at the Black Lion. Fab place, will definitely return as the Shepherd's huts are intriguing us.

    Desmond2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a lovely mini break at Nic and Berns cottage! The cottage itself made a lovely base, the log fire being a particular highlight on chilly November nights! The eggs were also delicious!! Nic and Bern were very hospitable, providing lots of useful information on walks in the local area. We visited Leek one day too, nice little shops to shelter from the rain in on a wet afternoon! Would recommend !

    Sarah2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • A sweet little cottage in a spectacular location. Bern and Nic were welcoming and tended to every need we had- they even left us eggs from the chickens on the farm! Going down to Leek is a must, the coffee at Cafe No5 is wonderful and the homemade chocolates from Misco’s are unbelievable- we went on the Friday and then had to go back on the Saturday to get more! We had the best time in this cottage and are even planning a return trip already. 😍

Come and take in the breathtaking landscape of the Peak District. You can take a spectacular walk over some of the 500 sq. miles of countryside and National Park, enjoy the rich cultural history of the area in the wonderful Chatsworth House (where Pride and Prejudice was filmed) and the wealth of other stately homes. There are also bustling, bright towns, cosy country pubs and great shopping all around. It is a trip that will be truly magical and compelling with so much to do in this glorious area of the English countryside. Milldale, is the first welcoming view and entrance to Dovedale looking down the wooded ravine, cross over Viators Bridge to walk down through Dovedale to the stepping stones or north along the quieter stretches of Dovedale. All along the route watch out for dippers, kingfisher or even herons who will be looking for food in the clear waters of the River Dove. Dovedale is one of the finest examples of a limestone and ash woodland habitat to be found in Europe. What makes the Dovedale landscape truly special is the incredible relationship which sees grassland changing into scrub/woodland and vise versa, creating a rare semi-natural and ancient ash woodland containing remnant true ancient woodland around the crags. The steppng stones which join the two banks of the River Dove at the Southern end of Dovedale, were originally built by the Victorians due to the ever increasing popularity of the area, to find an easy way to cross the river. They have become one of the most iconic features of Dovedale in this area of outstanding natural beauty. Fun for adults and children alike, hop from one stone to the next to continue exploring the rest of Dovedale. A little further up from stepping stones are a flight of steps, that were built during the Second World War by Italian prisoners of war, they lead to Lover's Leap. Climbing this hill is the only way to continue your journey north through Dovedale. When the river is low the stepping stones can easily be crossed, however after heavy rainfall the stepping stones become difficult to cross. Steep slopes and undulating terrain make this area difficult for visitors with disabilities, however we are constantly upgrading accessibility to ensure that more visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of Dovedale. Accessible parking can be found at Stepping-Stones end

This lovely king en-suite room is located in the beautiful village of Hartington, in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales. The room is spacious and looks over the duck pond. It's a great location for activities such as walking and cycling. The village has two lovely pubs, a farm shop, a tea room and several shops for groceries.
We provide a generous continental breakfast in the sunny conservatory. You can help yourself to fresh bread, and preserves, yogurt, fruit and cereals. We have a range of teas and real coffee. Parking is free in the village very close to the house.
The Peak District in winter is especially beautiful and atmospheric, with outstanding views and cosy country pubs. Villages bedecked with festive lights, bustling markets for unique gifts and spectacular walking opportunities, followed by hearty meals in front of a roaring fire. Try the all weather Monsal and Tissington trails for winter walking or cycling. The Chatsworth Christmas events and the Candlelit Tour at Haddon Hall are particularly popular, and there are many other local Christmas markets to explore. We can give you advice and guidance about walking and cycling routes whilst you are here, as well as information about other attractions. The village is popular with walkers and has numerous well marked footpaths leading to, amongst others, Beresford Dale, Dovedale and Arbor Low. Hartington is on the Peak Pilgrimage and close to the Limestone Way. The Tissington Trail and Monsal Trail are nearby for cyclists. Bike hire is available 5 minutes away, in Parsley Hay. There are lots of attractions within a short distance of the cottage, including Buxton Opera House, Chatsworth House and Matlock Baths.

  • We had a lovely stay, arranged to check in early as had just completed a 10k and needed a hot shower! Clean and tidy room, home made biscuits left for us. Breakfast left out for us next morning was immense, everything you could expect and more. Fresh loaf, home made jams. Would definitely book again. Local pub was lovely, spent the day in there hiding from the appalling weather.

  • Lois' place is a really beautiful with stunning views. The cabin is perfect for two. Saying the cabin is in a campsite does it a disservice. The campsite is adults only, spacious and has very impressive and clean facilities. There's even automatic gates. Lois was a superb host

    Ross2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We expected good things but boy, our expectations were surpassed! We had an excellent stay and would definitely recommend to our family and friends. The hut was sparkling clean, had lovely little touches to it, felt homely and catered for all our needs. Perfect for our little weekend away. Thank you!

    Kat2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful little haven during a rainy weekend in the Peaks — so cosy and very clean. The breakfast basket was a lovely extra touch.

    Nellie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lois’ place is perfect. The hut has everything you need, although you have to go outside to get to the toilets/shower there’s are literally a stones throw away and are furnished beautifully! Ideal place for some long walks, or just to cosy up if you’re staying in. We ate in The George pub in the village and the food was a little pricey but we didn’t mind as it INCREDIBLE. Definitely recommend.

    Alice2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful stay at Lois shepherds hut. The most thoughtful finishing touches, it was just perfect! Great pub across the road and fab location for exploring dove dale etc. Would come back in a heartbeat!

    Amy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Spent 2 nights in the hut and it far exceeded our expectations! Very well situated to go on lots of walks, and it was absolutely lovely to come back to after being out all day. The hut was really cozy with the fireplace, and being able to relax in the bed and watch Netflix etc. Didn't book dinner at The George (we cooked in the hut!) However, we went to go for a drink there on Saturday night. It was completely booked in the main area, but the staff were super friendly and let us go to the Coach House bar with our drinks. We had it all to ourselves, and played Jenga and cards! Would 100% book the hut again and recommend. Thanks Lois!

    Ben2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We decided to take a last minute trip to the Peak District and are so glad we chose Lois's hut - it's perfect for a little getaway! There's everything you could need and the hut is so well thought out - there was much more room than we had imagined. The amenities are really nice and warm (even in January!), so it wasn't a problem at all that they are not attached to the hut. We definitely recommend booking this cute space!

Our home is based on a 4 acre plot in the middle of the Peak District. It's remote enough to feel you've escaped, but, still right on the a515 for easy access to all the Peak's can offer. You enter through a private entrance into a private hallway (the floor is tiled so perfect for storing muddy boots and wet coats). Then there is a cozy double bedroom with an ensuite shower. The house is Grade II listed with high ceilings, exposed beams and ultra-thick walls dating from the early 18th century
The room is part of our 18th century, Grade II listed former farmhouse. We have our own 4 acre wild flower meadow that you are very welcome to enjoy. It looks fantastic across the spring and summer and you can spot wild orchids, cowslips, ox eye daisies and tufted vetch (and too many others to mention). It's great for wildlife spotting (on the right day) and we get plenty of songbirds visiting the garden. The room is heated by the same central heating system as the rest of the house, but we'll also provide you with additional electric heaters to ensure you are as cozy as possible. The house does have Wi-Fi with pretty good speeds (it runs over the 4g network) but the thickness of the walls means you may struggle to get a signal in the bedroom (you can normally pick it up in your hallway). If you're on EE or 3 mobile you'll have perfect signal and data.... Anyone else and you'll need to walk into our field for a signal. The room has some basic amenities like a kettle and freeview TV but there isn't any provision to prepare any food (to be honest there are so many fantastic pubs, cafes and farmshops nearby you'll never go hungry).
We are 0.6 miles from the village of Newhaven, 0.7 miles from Biggin, and 2.3 miles from the pretty village of Hartington. Asbourne and Buxton are only a short drive away too. There are several nice walks and dales nearby and the Tissington and High Peak trails are also within walking distance
  • This is a warm cosy room we were delighted to find at the end of a wet days on Derbyshire roads. Highly recommend a visit to & the hospitality that is extended yo guests.

The well equipped kitchen includes a fan oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge with small freezer compartment above. Climb upstairs to the four poster bedroom with its roll top bath…..exposed beams and mellow lime plaster walls all add to the countryside charm. Be spoilt by the breathtaking scenery, perfect for walks straight from the doorstep. Return to curl up by the log burner for a cosy evening in. Should you choose to eat out there are numerous great pubs and restaurants nearby serving fabulous food and local real ale. Outside there is a sitting area with patio furniture exclusively for you. Perfect for al fresco dining and drinks on the terrace. "Wonderful traditional feel" "Beautiful decor, very warm and relaxing" "The prettiest, cosiest place we've ever stayed"
Winnow Nook is nestled in a small hamlet that lies within the Peak District National Park. It's set in the most stunning scenery overlooking the surrounding countryside. Two cheeky goats live in the farmyard and the chickens, donkeys, sheep and occasional pigs can all be found around the farm. Outside the window to the west you'll often find the local cows, sheep and most amazing sunsets. It's incredibly quiet on the farm now apart from the occasional 'Baa', 'Oink', 'meeoooow' or 'Eyore from our pets.
Most of our guests are amazed by the spectacular scenery, quietness and the darkness showing off the stars at night! The scenery is breathtaking and with footpaths crossing the farm it's possible to walk for miles without taking the car. For those who prefer to cycle there are three cycle paths close by where you can hire bikes too if you wish. Horse trekking, golf, fishing, rock climbing and shooting can also be arranged. .
  • A lovely cosy airbnb perfectly located for walks and lazy weekends.

An authentic Mongolian Yurt with private hot-tub and BBQ
The Yurt has been lavishly furnished, most of it handmade. It has it's own mini-kitchen inside and full gas BBQ outside. With log-burner, superking round bed with Egyptian cotton linen and towels. Fluffy dressing gowns are provided along with a breakfast hamper on arrival. The outdoor decking area and garden is very private and generous with uninterrupted views of the Derbyshire hills. It is a 150 yard walk to the shared toilet/shower block (underfloor-heated) but the Yurt has its own private compost toilet.
Gaia's Hideaway is at Upper Hurst Farm Caravans/Camping/Glamping in the Peak District National Park. It is rural so peace and tranquillity is assured, plenty of walks and cycle routes are guaranteed. It is also central to the four major towns: Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek. There are lots of places to eat nearby and a pub within walking distance.
  • We had such a special trip thanks not only to the gorgeous yurt, but to Susan who went above and beyond to make our stay amazing! Would visit again in a heartbeat.

    Paige2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is a super lovely lady who made us feel comfortable from the moment that we entered the site. We will 100% be back.

    Laura2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place in a beautiful part of Peak District. Very secluded and peaceful. Sue was really nice and helpful. We were on foot and managed to get around to nearby villages and sights with some walking and via the bus.

    Alexandra2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying the yurt, very private and peaceful. Great location, close to lots of little villages and not too far from Buxton or Bakewell. Yurt was very well equipped with everything you could need for a few days away. Will definitely return if we’re in the area.

    Rachel2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovey place. Amazing hot tub and view. Nice touches in the yurt. Great little kitchen. Couldn’t have asked for anything more for a relaxing few nights away. Thanks

    Kate2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversay. The yurt was clean, spacious and in a great location! The hot tub was amazing to chill out in after a long walk in the countryside.

    Ruth2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 4 night stay - the bed was extremely comfortable and the hot tub was amazing. The campsite showers were spotlessly clean and had underfloor heating which was great. There is a good pub within walking distance and a couple of other very good pubs within a short drive. It was well located for walks to Wolfscotedale and Dovedale. The only very small niggle is that the wifi connection was very weak. Thank you for a great mini holiday - we can't wait to come back!

    Sian2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic yurt hideaway - centrally located in the Peak District. Great location for some wonderful scenery. Great for a romantic getaway or a different family break. My kids loved it, especially the hot tub.

Our cottage is small and sweet and we love it. There is a sitting room with a cosy real fire, a TV with video player and lots of DVDs. There's a variety of board games too if you want to reduce your screen time. The kitchen has all the usual things - cooker, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and a new washing machine. We also have a smart speaker for streaming your own music. There are 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and the other room has twin beds. The bathroom is downstairs.
There is a garden at the front and the back with seating and a table available in both areas. The cottage faces south so we enjoy the sun most of the day. The patio at the back is great at the end of the afternoon. It looks out over fields.
Apart from our wonderful neighbours either side, there is a very welcoming pub just down the road - The Waterloo. Biggin Hall also does exquisite meals if you want something a little more special.
  • Beautiful cottage nestled in Biggin with a cosy pub a two minute walk away. The fire was ready to light upon entering and the storage heaters already keeping the place warm. The porch is great addition for leaving your walking gear to hand up and dry, keeping the cottage warm and cosy. You’re right on a number of walking routes so it’s the perfect location too.

Hawthorne Cottage is a lovely recently refurbished limestone cottage in the glorious Derbyshire Peak District just steps away from Hartington village centre with all its amenities. Everyone welcome here, a perfect place for a relaxing break or for the more energetic there’s great walks (dogs welcome!) and cycling trails on the doorstep. We have the great advantage of 2 PARKING SPACES and a lock up for cycles. The terraced gardens afford views over the village and surrounding hills beyond.
Our cottage, built in the 1860s of local limestone has 2 bedrooms, cosy lounge with exposed beams and a log burner for those chilly evenings, kitchen with breakfast bar, and a large conservatory/garden room perfect for relaxed dining overlooking the private patio and gardens. Responsible pet owners please note gardens not fenced off from the road but patio is gated. Due to steps not suitable for children under 8.
Hartington is an extremely popular village situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park. There are 2 pubs with good food, 3 tea/coffee shops, deli , general store, gift shop and post office, local garage and the famous Hartington Cheese Shop adjacent to the picturesque duck pond.
  • Lovely cottage of very high standard everything close by as discribed. Plenty of lovely walks near by and cottage had lots of information about the local area. Would highly recommend cottage and area.

    Shirley2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful cottage suitable for four adults. The conservatory is a great place for eating meals and the patio should be a relaxing place in good weather to soak in the beautiful views. We stayed three nights in February.

    Glynis2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Hawthorne Cottage is a delight! It is situated close to the village center where the shops and pubs are welcoming and the church is just around the corner. The space is clean and welcoming with lots of lovely touches and a conservatory that provided us with a comfy warm, and sunny space on a cold and windy day! Everything worked well, access was just as Keith and Sheena described and the wood burner kept us cosy. We highly recommend it, and hope to be back!

    Georgie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage nestled in the heart of a beautiful village in the Peak District. Location is excellent within walking distance to the shops, pub, restaurant. Pictures of the cottage do not do it justice as it is better than expectations when you arrive. A very helpful host and we would definitely stay again Thanks Carl, Louise and Family

    Carl2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Keith & Sheena couldn’t have been better hosts, very quick to respond, kind & helpful. The cottage was beautiful, lots of lovely extra touches like extra blankets and cushions. Plus little basket of local nibbles too. Would definitely recommend this place as a hub for a Peak District trip. All round perfect.

    Hannah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 3 nights and it was wonderful. Really cosy and homely. Keith and Sheena are great hosts and left lots of nice touches ( games, books, blankets and bubbles!). The cottage is in lovely village with a great pub and cheese shop and it’s easily accessible to some lovely walks and bike rides around the Peak District. Would highly recommend.

    Claire2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hawthorne Cottage is a beautifully presented, cosy retreat, situated in stunning surroundings in some of the best walking country of the Peak District. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, the photos don’t do the accommodation justice! The cottage is tastefully furnished with lots of lovely, homely touches to make your stay extra special. The friendly hosts Sheena and Keith were on hand should we have any questions. Hartington village is on the doorstep with its pretty houses, pubs, shops and duck pond. Many walks, of varying difficulty can easily be accessed from the cottage making this an ideal base for an effortless weekend away from it all.

    Rachel2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely cottage has got everything you need for a cosy and comfortable stay in the Peak District. The location is brilliant and an ideal for exploring. Communication with our hosts was excellent prompt. We would 100% recommend this place!

Douglas’s Barn is the weirdest shaped Five Star romantic holiday cottages for two, tucked between Tom’s Barn and Orchard Farm house in Parwich, in the Peak District, Derbyshire You’ll probably love the amusing contrast of the contemporary interior and the top of the range equipment set within these funny shapes. The property is a bit of luxury having been awarded 5 star gold rating by Visit England.
Above all you’ll relish the calm, relaxing atmosphere and soothing ‘Peak District’ colours which seem a charm against the outside world. Many guests have quietly confided that it is the only place in the world where they can truly relax. Douglas's Barn is very close to several footpaths and the Limestone way runs through Parwich. Bikes are available for use and the village is situated very close to the High Peak and Tissington Trails. The barn has a jacuzzi bath in the bathroom but there is no hot tub for use by guests
Parwich was voted as one of the top 50 places to live in England. Douglas's Barn nestles on the outskirts of the village within easy working distance of the local pub and benefits from lovely views across the Peak District.
  • Well thought out place - lots of info plus extra touches such as cake , eggs, milk homemade marmalade and week stocked kitchen . Well placed in lovely village with decent pub - close to tissington trail. Beautifully peaceful and comfortable

    Rachel2020-02-24T00:00:00Z

  • Perfect size, cozy accommodation in a beautiful village. The barn has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is perfectly situated for exploring the peak district. We had some great walks including Thor's cave and the stepping stones in Dovedale. The local pub serves good food and the locals are very friendly.

    Linda2019-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • It's been the most relaxing weekend and everything was perfect. The property offers 5 star facilities. Everything you would need and more. The homemade cake and homemade produce was a lovely touch. Can't wait to visit again later in the year!

  • Stunning facilities, a beautiful place to go relax and unwind. Really friendly and helpful hosts.

    Chris2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous little cottage in a tiny village. The barn is perfect for 2, with some very special touches including dressing gowns and that jacuzzi bath. Angela warmly welcomed us and gave us lots of useful tips. The kitchen is very well equipped and made staying in a pleasure.

    Chloe2019-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Angela is a wonderful host, very welcoming and has put lots of personal touches into the barns. The lemon drizzle cake on arrival was beautiful! There was also a fabulous bunch of roses and everything you could possibly need in the barn. The place itself was wonderfully clean and had lovely furnishings. It felt very homely during our stay. We went on a wonderful walk from the hosts recommendations in their folder. All in all a lovely break with lots of laughter and memories! Can’t wait to return!

Mrs Scragg's Cottage, cosily situated in the pretty village of Thorpe, in a beautiful and peaceful part of the Peak District. A walker’s paradise; Dovedale and the Stepping Stones are a 20 mins stroll away; Thorpe Cloud just 10 mins. The Tissington Trail, a converted footpath/cycle way, is a 10 mins walk away. It has a good sized enclosed, private garden with outdoor seating for sunny days. There is spacious off road parking for 2 cars. You may even have some cows in the field next door!
This is a no pet cottage. This is a strict policy I have to adhere to as my insurance is for a pet free property. Please do not request to bring a dog as I cannot accept these bookings. This is a no smoking property. If you want to store bikes undercover then I can provide a clean, dry and lockable shed for you. Follow on Instagram: mrs_scraggs_cottage
Ashbourne, an old market town, is 2.5 miles away and there are many picturesque villages a short walk/drive away to explore. There are lots of places to visit and activities to try with Mrs Scragg's Cottage as your base. The Old Dog pub is at the top of the hill, a great place to sit by their fire, unwind and enjoy one of their fabulous burgers in a friendly village pub. You can purchase fuel at Dovedale Garage, also at the top of the hill, but other than that Ashbourne will be your closest stop to pick up anything that you need.
  • We stayed at Sally’s cottage as part of a long weekend and were impressed with what it had to offer. Firstly, the location is brilliant, a stone’s throw away from Dovedale, Thorpe Cloud and the Stepping stones. The cottage had good facilities which include a lovely kitchen which has just enough space to cook a full meal if you didn’t want to eat out. Breakfast was lovely, we were provided with eggs, milk, sausages, bacon, bread and a selection of cereals and jams. The bed is very comfortable and there are some lovely personal touches across the whole cottage. There is off-road parking as well which is an added bonus. We were really impressed and would look to stay here again if we were to visit Thorpe as we believe it is good value for money and offers a comfortable and cosy stay while exploring what the Peak District has to offer.

  • Sally's Cottage is so beautiful, full of character and very very clean. Everything was very functional and Sally added lots of personal touches which we loved. It's a very quiet and relaxing place to stay.

    Paul2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Sally's Cottage. The weather wasn't great so it was lovely to be able to light a fire. The kitchen had everything we'd need and the breakfast food was a real treat. The beds were really comfortable and the view from the bath was amazing! Sally responded quickly to emails and made sure we were all sorted for check-in. Would love to visit again.

    Áine2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in a beautiful area. Sally had set up everything for our daughter which made it very easy for us. The breakfast things provided were delicious and very helpful as we were only staying for a night.

    Jake2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sally couldn’t have been more accommodating given that we were travelling in the aftermath of storm Ciara. It was a shame we didn’t get to meet (though did meet her dad briefly, again very helpful with suggestions for our walks!) - however all our messages were returned promptly so communication is a huge positive. The cottage was spotless, everything gleaming clean. A beautiful property and a thoroughly enjoyable stay! Thanks again.

  • Wonderful shepherd's huts at the edge of the peak district. Kitchen and bathroom facilities exceptional for a shared campsite block. From the placement of the huts, down to the lovely sinks in the toilet block, everything is thoughtfully designed, beautifully rustic. Emily and the others (and also the resident pigs, sheep, horse, donkey and chickens) were beyond welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Really well located, we were able to travel there on a public minibus from Ashbourne. We also took day hike to the village of Ilam and the Dovedale stepping stones (a moderately gentle hike along public footpaths - absolutely stunning views and passing through a lovely national trust park) and were back in time for tea! Couldn't recommend this place more!

    Maddie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was a brilliant host - so friendly and thoughtful. The accommodation is really comfortable with lots of sweet touches. We had a great New Year here - enjoying the brilliant pub nearby, followed by a cosy fire back at the hut. We couldn't recommend more highly to anyone looking for a remote escape! Thank you! :)

  • The Mews was just what we needed. We only could stay one night unfortunately, so it is now on the list for next time we are up in Derbyshire. The only thing we had trouble with was the directions. The blue house next door doesn't look blue in the dark and in the rain (not Richards fault!!) Remember- the house has3 gables, and a double garage. Also one of it's What3words' location is 'herds.holiday.afterglow' which is perfect, 'herds' of sheep in the field opposite, a 'holiday' cottage, and the 'afterglow' of a lovely weekend away. Enjoy!

The house is amazing value for money and had everything we needed. We had a lovely stay with some friends and would definitely head back - perfect place to relax and enjoy the Peak District. Would very much recommend

  • We have just been on a 2 week roadtrip around the UK and stayed in a few different Airbnb’s, and this was the nicest place we stayed. It is thoughtfully deigned with some lovely touches. The wood burning fire is a delight! If you are looking for a base in the Peak District where you can explore the local villages and walks then this is a perfect spot. We will definitely be back!

  • Absolutely fantastic, cannot believe how lucky we were to find such a cosy and beautiful cottage. Everything was immaculately clean and with boutique linen, bath soaps, thoughtful touches and very very homely. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Rock Cottage is a cosy hideaway for two in the glorious Peak District. Situated in the hamlet of Hopedale, it is a short walk from the lovely village of Alstonefield, where the owners live. It has period charm with beams and old stone fireplace. It is a detached cottage with wood burner, fully equipped kitchen, private patios and parking. The are many lovely walks in Dovedale and the Manifold Valley directly from your door.
  • Outstanding place and host, Gordon couldn’t have been more helpful. Perfect place for some fantastic walks in the peaks district!

    Charlotte2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location for exploring the peaks. The cottage is very clean and cosy, with everything needed to make the stay comfortable. There is a great pub within 20 paces and plenty of walks straight from the doorstep. I hope to visit again soon.

    Erin2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tasteful cottage in a delightful secluded part of the Peak District. Perfect for a relaxing break and for hikes!

    Daniel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful cottage. Preparation was immaculate - logs for the fire, food in the freezer, spotlessly clean and tips on where to walk/eat. Couldn’t be better!

    Andrew2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at Gordon's cottage. Everything was as described and expected with nice touches throughout. There's no mobile phone reception in the hamlet so make sure you store all the info you need offline before you set off (Gordon thought ahead of our schoolboy error and waited for us in the pub next door). Pub next door is cosy with no music, a nice wood-burner fireplace and a good selection of tapa's if you don't fancy cooking yourselves. Would recommend to any couple wanting a short getaway with good local walks available.

    Walter2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A cute and cosy cottage with lots of local walks - perfect for a peaceful weekend in the Peak District.

    Sophie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rock Cottage was the perfect place to stay for a couple's getaway. The cottage is conveniently right next to the Watts Russel Arms; we booked dinner there which was a delicious selection of tapas. They also have great beers on draft and the owners are very nice. The cottage itself is very thoughtfully decorated throughout with consistent and warming theming/colours. The same cohesion and quality can be found in the kitchen, right down to the appliances; nothing in the cottage felt cheap or out of place. I happened to find Gordon in the pub on arriving, he was very helpful and kind with his instructions and recommendations. I would urge anyone arriving after dark to park up at the pub rather than attempting to find the parking and cottage! Very good stay, would certainly return!

    Cory2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, great log burner and we were lovely and warm. Lots of character, would love to return in the summer for a bottle of wine on the patio. Great location in the middle of some fantastic walks you won't need to get in your car. It was a novelty having a pub next door to pop in for some drinks in the evening, and another one at Wetton which we visited for lunch on our circular walk.

  • Thanks Craig and family for a brilliant stay. Easy check in, met at the gate with the code and shown all of the facilities. What you see is what you get: cosy room with beds, seating and kitchenette. The weather was awful when I was there and still very warm and cosy inside. Toilets/ showers/ washing up all so clean. Will definitely be back!

  • Friendly and easy to contact host. Lovely area with great access to Alton Towers Very comfy beds (more so than expected from a bunk bed) Enough of a kitchen to cook some food, microwave, electric hob, kettle and toaster. The heater is more than enough for the space and there is a radio supplied Lovely quiet area and surrounds - expect a great nights sleep Little bit hard to find in the dark, so plan ahead and scout the road it is on with google maps and it is easy. (directions given on the page are spot on mind so might have been us)

  • Lovely place to stay - beautiful farm, lovely free range eggs and firewood to have a fire (small cost, v cheap). Friendly hosts. Highly recommended!

    Lydia2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a spectacular location! We used this as a base for a few days in Alton Towers but the surrounding area is perfect for walkers etc. The accommodation was well equipped, with the toilet and washing up facilities (which were sparkling clean) only 15 seconds walk. A secure site with parking right outside the building. Lovely and warm. The host Craig was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

    Carly2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is very well located to know the Peak District. The place is very cozy and equipped with everything you need to spend a few days in the tranquility of the countryside. Very safe and clean. It has heating and very nice view. The owners very friendly and attentive. Easy to reach and accommodation with a very special charm. We recommend it 100%. And above all do not stop buying the eggs they sell from their own farm.

    Begona2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at the camping barn. Was a last minute booking but everything was much better than described. Security onto the site was very good with number plate recognition on first barrier and a code to use to get through second. Beds were unexpectedly made up on arrival which was lovely, heating great and enough cooking essentials, a toaster, microwave and a counter top hob to make a good meal for a family after a day out at Alton Towers (which is only a few miles away) There is a very short walk across a well lit courtyard to toilet, shower and laundry washing facilities but all fully accessible even at night and spotlessly clean, well stocked and maintained. Definitely booking again in future. Thank you Craig

  • Highly recommend this cottage. We stayed here for the weekend and had a wonderful time. There were many thoughtful touches which made it very special. Jane was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The cottage is great for basing yourself from to do some walking or for chilling out in front of the fire. Super cosy and comfortable, we will definitely be back!

    Anna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Jane’s cottage was the perfect idyllic and peaceful getaway! The accommodation itself was spotless, charming and in a wonderful location for both walking and relaxing. Despite some less-than ideal weather, we were still able to do some exploring, and always finished up by the cosy fire. Jane was attentive and flexible, and it is very clear that she puts care and thoughtfulness into her hosting. We were also lucky enough to meet her two sweet labradors, which was a huge bonus! Thank you very much for the break - I’m sure we will be back (maybe in the summer next time!!)

  • We had a wonderful stay at Jane’s cottage. Despite the very wet and windy weather, the cottage was warm and cosy particularly with the log burner. It was a great central location too with easy access to lots of towns and lovely walks.

  • This is a fantastic cottage with beautiful views of the dales and friendly sheep to greet you everyone morning. So if you need to recharge your batteries this is perfect. The homemade brownies are also amazingly, and will give you the jump start needed. Location is great, and the cottage has everything you need from cooking essentials to Bluetooth speaker and flawless WiFi. Incredible hosts with super fast response, what more could you ask for. Oh yeah, a super comfortable bed.

    Shaf2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Jane’s cottage. Perfect location with beautiful views and three very sweet sheep out the back. Jane was an excellent host and everything had been thought of, from a very well stocked kitchen down to fresh brownies and flowers. There was a very thorough information pack with everything you need to know locally which was fabulous. Thanks Jane! We’ll definitely be planning another trip back.
