Peaceful Quiet Relaxing
4 acres of Railroad bed for hiking. This is a rural/country setting, but not too far to stores and shopping. There is wild here. I mean there is nature ... and wild places for them to live.
  • Lisa's is always very cooperative with check in and outs. The place has a very cozy and peaceful feel inside and out.

  • If your okay with sharing a house with people this is the best place to go. The best place for best bang for your buck along with a steam shower!

    Brianna2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place is better than advertised. I came for a weekend away from the busyness of home and work and intended to focus on some important projects. There is very little traffic in her area, the property is large and beautiful with several awesome amenities, and her pets are friendly and particularly well-behaved. It was a productive and refreshing weekend for me and I look forward to booking again.

  • Lisa's house is a little bit of heaven! We were greeted at the door by Rusty, a huge orange and white tabby cat, who was absolutely the most affectionate cat we had ever seen, he even spent the night sleeping on the foot of the bed! The house is full of special touches, such as salt lamps, art works, glass paperweights (which reminded me of my great grandmother, who collected them), incense and candles, and lovely old furniture. Outside there is a patio with hot tub, which was great to relax in, listening to the wind chimes and looking out over a spacious lawn complete with pond and deer. Lisa was a perfect host and we can't wait to stay there again when we come back that way in the fall, if not sooner!

  • Lisa is a wonderful host. Great hospitality and very nice. "Off the beaten path" definitely described this stay to a t. I loved it. Relaxing and inviting. Beautiful countryside. Dont forget to enjoy Lisas beautiful artwork and the hot tub - best when weather is cold 😁 Will visit again.

  • Very nice host and the place is also very beautiful.

  • It was quiet and tranquil. Lisa's dog and my dog got along great. Lots of playtime for them. Lisa pointed me in the direction of good hikes for me and my dog. Just an over all great stay. Just what I needed.

    Carissa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is so sweet. Her home is lovely and very clean. I came out for training for work and had no problems during my stay. I will definitely come back in the future.

  • Eddie and Liam's place is a great place to go and relax for a weekend. The 6 person hot tub was a huge highlight for me and my friends! I also enjoyed the privacy of the location. The large back deck with it's huge windows and view were excellent. We also enjoyed the outdoor and indoor fireplaces. Great spot!

  • This place was just what we were looking for. Lisa was a wonderful hostess and made us feel right at home...literally. We were having work done on our home and had to leave for 5 days and Lisa’s place was close, let us bring our kitty with us and was a very comfortable home away from home. Very quiet too!

    Heike2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • I am a frequent visitor to Lisa's place and have never been disappointed. She is a great hostess and I feel right at home when I am there. My room is always very clean, very private, and well decorated and comfortable. And Lisa is always busy making improvements to the property to make it even more appealing. It is totally a relaxing and serene place for either a stopover, or an extended stay. Highly recommended of course!!

  • Lisa is a fantastic host. Her place is located between NYC and Toronto, which makes it great when you want to start driving right after work and continue the rest of the trip early in the morning. Her property is very spacious and cool. We had a fire pit going by the pond, and her property has an extensive yard to play. I Highly recommend it!

This area of Mehoopany is sometimes called Champion Mountain, so named for the family who once live on our property. The ruins of their old homestead dates back to the late 1700s. The are only about 10 other houses within a mile of the cabin and many of them are our relatives, as one might expect for an old family farm.
  • Perfect weekend! Eddie and Liam were very helpful between bringing our bags to and from the yurt and answering all of our questions very promptly. We had a great time hanging by the fire and cooking with our dogs. We did a beautiful hike on Saturday morning and enjoyed the Grovedale winery (both only about a 20 min drive). We started the hot tub as soon as we got back and were able to enjoy it at the end of our night. We will definitely be back!

  • Pleasant hosts and clean accommodations. If you enjoy the outdoor experience you will like this step up from tenting it.

  • my husband and i loved getting off the grid! we had a fantastic time and the guys gave us a lot of very helpful info for our stay.

  • Eddie & Liam's place out in the woods was absolutely perfect! They provided everything we needed to have a comfortable and peaceful weekend away. All amenities were well thought out and they provided an easy to follow video that showed us everything we needed to know. Check in and out was easy, and the resources they provided for places to eat, things to do, and highlights of the area was perfect. Fall is such a beautiful time to visit! Highly recommend.

    Aaron2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful location to stay! Our first time staying in a yurt and keeping everything off grid was a really nice added touch to help reset and just immerse in nature. The hot tub was AMAZING. My bf is probably tired of hearing me rave about the scent of the cedarwood but it was so relaxing. The outhouse was better than I ever expected it to be and super clean. The instructions were very easy to follow as well. We definitely over packed as they have so much stuff for you to use while you stay. All you really need are clothing food and some toiletries. I cant wait to come back and stay again! P.s. dont forget to look up at the night sky. Its breathtaking 💜

    Hailey2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Let me open with our stay was great and this place is great! Very unique and private. A few things you should know ahead of time: communicate your check in time with hosts so they can plan to help bring up your things. The hike to the yurt was a bit more than expected, (steeper and up hill) but worth the hike. The hot tub is awesome! I liked it more than the on grid electric ones. But, be forewarned that it is cedar and cedar seeps into the water like a tea. At first the water looks like it's dirty... And that might be a turn off, but it is a cedar tea bath which is much better than chlorine. There are wood chairs by the fire pit, but they got wet from rain, good idea to bring camp chairs or pads in case of rain. Nobody's fault but the weather, but that's outdoor life. This is info to help your stay be the best. Really beautiful and quiet. Great stay! Enjoy!

Authentic county home. Quiet one day at a time comfort. Maybe bicycle or motorcycle over these roads of the Pa. Endless Mountains to historic towns. There are 8 golf courses, many driving ranges, 8 antique stores, fun ride park, swimming, numerous restaurants, and State parks and nature preserves all within 20 miles or less. Share full living rm, front porch, sm. fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Garage for bikes, skis, and the like. I'll take you to your room and leave you to your leisure.
As you travel for business or pleasure, a stay-over here is not the "utilitarian" of a hotel/motel. And a country mile is too short once your back on a highway. When it rains, the porch with its metal roof is the best place to sit and just be. This home was built in the 1890s. I've done my best to maintain its strong integrity, basic comforts and the added electricity has not changed that. Are there ghosts?? Well no, but the house does have a Welcoming Spirit.
In a 5 mile radius site seeing is mostly pastures with cow/horses. Fields of hay and corn during spring and summer - but only glorious hillsides of fall colors in Autumn. Numerous ponds and stream. Road sides are clustered with wild flowers. A chicken crossing the road is a normal occurrence (still dont know why). Deer are a common site and use the roads also. Roads are curvy and a bit hilly. Folks tending yards or their farm like a wave from passing cars...

  • Our stay was wonderful. We were looking for seclusion and found it. Beautiful property. Eddie and Liam were so responsive to any questions. Very cozy!

    Kim2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful weekend we just came home from. I’ll start by saying that Eddie & Liam are so kind and helpful and willing to answer any question you have, even before you book your trip. They answer quickly and with good detail. The home is exactly what is expected when viewing the pictures, and the property is about as secluded and beautiful as you can get for rural PA. Mike and I love to cook, so we took full advantage of their fully stocked kitchen. We loved how the grill was right outside the kitchen door up on the deck. They have an awning over the grill, so even though it was snowing (and 18 degrees out!) we were able to easily go back and forth without it being a problem. The movie room (den area) on the first floor is so cozy and delivers great sound with the stereo system they have set up, along w a warming fireplace that goes on regularly to adjust the temperature in the room. I could go on and on about this wonderful home and these two gentlemen that run it. You will not be disappointed should you choose to stay here!

  • This place is an Airbnb gem!! Secluded “cabin in the woods” with all the amenities you could ask for. It was decorated for Christmas, with a big beautiful tree and fresh baked Christmas cookies were left for us. Nightstands had charging stations for apple products, which was a nice touch! We loved the big kitchen table, which we sat around and played board games for hours. Hot tub was clean and the perfect activity for evenings and after skiing at Elk Mountain. We hope to visit someday when the weather is warmer so we can enjoy the pool, fire pit, and wrap around deck! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!

This lakefront cottage is an ideal getaway, and the fishing is GREAT! Relax and take in the view of Little Elk Lake and surrounding farmland. You may also catch a glimpse or our resident bald eagle, blue herons or beavers! The lake is small (42 acres) so no motor boats are allowed, keeping it nice and quiet. Fishermen tout the wide-mouth bass, perch, grouper and more. There are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors--swim from the float, lounge on the shore or enjoy the fire pit at night.
    • The "great room" has a picture window looking out over the lake. There is also a flat-screened "smart" t.v. with basic dish service. • There is a master bedroom with a queen bed and pull-out couch. • The second bedroom is more of a sleeping alcove than a bedroom (see diagram) but has a comfortable full-sized bed. • Additional sleeping is in the loft over the great room which has 2 twin-sized mattresses and 2 additional sleeping mats. The loft ceiling is low but it looks out over the living room so it does not feel cramped. • The cottage sleeps up to 8 adults plus 2 children. See cottage diagram for more info. • Child friendly amenities: Travel crib, clip-on chair, some toys. • The kitchen is old (think “Brady Bunch”), but clean and has everything needed for most cooking as well as some basic staples. • Propane grill and a smoker.
Located in the Endless Mountains between Binghamton NY and Scranton PA. It is a very rural area with several charming country towns to explore. • Montrose, with its white courthouse and town green is 9 miles away, has restaurants, a brewery and Salt Springs State park. • Tunkhannock sits on the Susquehanna River 11 miles away, where you can enjoy hot-air ballooning and skydiving (did I say ENJOY skydiving??) there are also many little shops and restaurants and 2 parks one with a boat launch. • Honesdale and Wyalusing are a bit further but also fun. • Elk Mountain Ski resort is about a 50-minute drive. • The Corning Glass Museum, about an hour away, is a great outing for a rainy day.
  • Talk about a view!!!! Simply breathtaking. The cabin is comfortable, clean and relaxing. With all the things you think you may need: games, pantry items, boat, dock, and a campfire pit. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. Doug and Karen were amazing hosts with quick responses and patience showing our daughter a woodworking project.

    Danielle2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was very quick to respond, accommodating, and pleasant to work with. The cottage was absolutely perfect in every way! I grew up on Big Elk Lake, and visiting home is always a wonderful time. Karen's lake cottage is set up perfectly with just the right amount of country charm. It is clean, inviting, children friendly (the loft is the best), and super fun! We will definitely be going back as soon as possible!

    Sarah2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Super kid friendly! All the basic kitchen essentials you need for baking or cooking to your heart’s content. Great for multi family or a large group. Super relaxing and low maintenance setting.

    Nicole2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view of lake! Great fishing! Looking forward to returning!

    Shea2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is such a gem!!! Do not let the lack of A/C scare you off-the nights are so cool, even in August- we needed pants and sweatshirt in the evenings. We kept the windows open 24/7 and the home stayed cool even during the day. There are so many great thinks to say: -Amazing water pressure in the shower. -Super comfortable beds ( it was the best sleep I’ve had in months!) -open floor plan with gorgeous views of the lake from every bedroom and the common areas -clean kitchen appliances -comfortable couches -Smart TV -from the access dock you can paddle to the floating dock that is further out in lake to layout on the lounge chair or jump off for swimming and docking the boat and canoe. -fire pit, smoker, grill -Private playground in the backyard -very friendly locals and neighbors! -We went to Uptown Grill in Montrose one evening for dinner and it has the small town feel where everyone chatted and was friendly. -we are a family of runners and soccer players, so one afternoon we grabbed a ball, headed to the local Montrose High School, ran 3 miles on their track and played soccer on their fields- it is such a family friendly community! Karen was very responsive and a wonderful host! We hope to rent this cottage every summer.

  • Great place, great area, and helpful hosts. Me and my group thoroughly enjoyed our stay here

    Martin2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! It was so special. Me and my friends went for my wedding celebrations. I am in love with the view from patio - Mountains, sunrise, lake and much more! Colleen is super nice, answered all our questions.

    Sonali2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen’s hosting skills are unparalleled, quick and apt response to any query/concern made our stay effortless. The place was squeaky clean, and all the amenities were state of the art. The location has an easy access, yet provides you the much needed privacy amidst the nature to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. My friends and I had an amazing weekend stay and would love to do it again.

  • Marens on the Neck is an amazing piece of land. If you're looking for the perfect place to disconnect from everything and become one with nature while enjoying the comfort of a beautifuland stylish home then this is the place you are looking for. The private pond is an added bonus. Definitely recommend it and we would look to book it again. Thanks for everything Colleen.

    Larry2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen’s place was absolutely amazing. Nice and clean. Probably the cleanest Airbnb I’ve ever been to. The place looks even better than the pictures. Would definitely come here again next year and try to make this an annual trip.

    Tiffany2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a wonderful place to stay! We've stayed in a dozen or so nice vacation rentals and this was easily our favorite. The home was very clean and felt homey (the beds were so comfortable). The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, cookware and dishes. There was plenty of room for our family of 6 to spread out to do different things like watch movies, play card games or board games and the game room was a big hit.The pond was an amazing feature of this rental, we enjoyed two visits to the pond during our stay. We were thrilled to see the deer around the pond while we were swimming in the evening and in the fields behind the home when we were having S'mores around the campfire. We loved the fact that it felt very rural but it was only a short drive to town and other activities. We appreciated all the little special touches. Colleen was an attentive and thoughtful host - Thank you again, Colleen! We look forward to returning!

  • Quiet and private. Karin is a great host and you won't be disappointed.

    Bill2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Karin is a timely communicator, the listing is accurate, and the space is very clean! Plus, the bed is a very cool log-style frame with flannel cotton sheets and woodland décor. Very comfortable!

    Kara2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Karin’s approach to being an Airbnb host is just right. She offers accommodations, amenities (stacks of towels, fresh coffee), and privacy similar to a traditional hotel experience, except that I, the guest, am in her home and completely comfortable with her and her dogs/cats. I feel like I’m visiting a friend. This is my second stay and it couldn’t have been better.

    Pascha2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, quiet place!! Lovable animals! Comfortable atmosphere and very peaceful!!! Will definitely Return!!

    Lindsay2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Karin her house. She is a very nice person and she was very hospitable to us. We also really liked here sweet dogs. One of them even joined us for a little walk in the snow. We really liked it. The house was beautiful and the environment very quiet. We would recommend to stay with Karin to anyone.

    Linda2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stay here. It is away from the hustle and bustle, and completely relaxing. Karin has wonderful pets that are friendly and fun, and Karin herself is kind and gracious as a host. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom is updated and beautiful. Karin even made breakfast for my son, which was greatly appreciated.

    Marie2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We have spent a wonderful time at this place. Karin welcomed us in her home super friendly. The view from the porch is very nice and the pool is great. The dogs are very friendly and they get along with the cats. We recommend this place as a retreat before/after a city visit.

    Inge2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Karins accommodation is very remote. Very quiet and in the middle of nature - perfect to escape everyday life. Nevertheless you have everything you need. The room is large, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom very clean. To have Karin as a hostess is perfect, the cohabitation and communication can not be imagined. Worth every trip, only to be recommended!

  • Great place to stay. Beautiful house!

    Greg2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was a great getaway. The outdoor space was comfortable and provided options to make it easy to enjoy the outdoors however you wanted. The inside was well kept and the open space made for an easy place to relax and had such an inviting atmosphere. We had a great time when we were able to enjoy the space, and it was great for kids as well. We didn’t really try swimming in the pond as we hoped, but boating and walking around it were very nice.

    Scott2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very relaxing! Grilled and floated in the pond most of the day. So many bed rooms, plenty of everyday items needed. Absolutely loved our stay!

    Alicia2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This Log Cabin is awesome! It’s perfect for small groups of friends or families. Steven was kind enough to allow us to have our weeding reception in his back yard this past weekend. The yard is so beautiful with the big pond and large trees. The house was perfect for our families to congregate in the huge living room and kitchen. We made all of our food for the wedding and the kitchen worked out really well. We also had plenty of room for friends to stay with us who were helping put the wedding together. Even though we had a few surprise quests (we found a stray cat and saw a bear!) We had an amazing time. Steven was available via phone during our stay and was a great host. Thanks Steven!

    Sarah2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place for a great friends weekend away. Steven made us super easy, the pond and rope swing were awesome! Plenty of room for all.

    Gino2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this cabin was amazing. It was perfect for our bridal party to be together for our wedding weekend. The cabin was fully stocked with all the essentials and the pond was awesome for the kids

    Brita2018-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Steve's place was truly wonderful! We stayed for a little over a month and Steve was extremely attentive and reachable whenever we had any questions. The cabin itself was a perfect combination of private and shared space - great for a big group like ours. I would absolutely recommend Steve's place to anyone looking for a place in the area. Thank you Steve!

This private, lake retreat overlooks a beautiful, natural spring-fed lake. It is close to: quaint towns with restaurants, movies and shopping; the Susquehanna River; outdoor activities; PA Route 6; and it is in the vicinity of larger towns like Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, PA. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is just 1 hr away. You’ll love the privacy, location, comfort. Great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers... or anyone who wants to get away from it all for a bit.
Enjoy lake living in this 2nd floor lake apartment. The apartment is set just off the lake, which allows for greater privacy while still having easy lake and doc access. The living space is bright and open - with a large bedroom, large bathroom and large living room, all with plenty of closet space. The kitchen is a little smaller, but ample for your visit and appointed with everything you will need. The bedroom has a double bed and you will be supplied with extra pillows and blankets. It is spacious and looks out over the lake through four large windows. There is also a desk for your use. When the weather is favorable, enjoy the private deck. The outdoor grill and table are yours to enjoy, as is the lake view - pretty at every hour of the day. Lake Carey is a true community lake - with both long-time residents and visitors who care for the Lake. The three mile walk around the Main Lake is a favorite activity, as it takes you by many picturesque homes and cabins as well as through a beautiful natural area (Lake Carey has two sections, the Main Lake and the Flow Pond - your apartment is on the Main Lake). The lake is fantastic for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and rowing.
Lake Carey is located just off of Rt. 29 in Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains. The region is historic and scenic, with great small towns, lakes and The Susquehanna River Watershed to explore. Plenty of hiking and water activities are nearby, and you are only 10 minutes from The Endless Mountains Visitors Center located in Tunkhannock. Your closest town is Tunkhannock, which is a lively and picturesque town situated right on The Susquehanna River.
