Restaurant
“Cella Bar has become an iconic spot to visit in Madalena due to its architecture and design. Even though it's also a restaurant, food isn't always at its best, so we wouldn't recommend it for meals. However, it's a cosy place and from the top balcony you have a beautiful view facing the ocean and Faial island - quite a perfect scene to enjoy a nice cocktail - if you like them sweet, try the Red Moonshine with passion fruit liqueur. ”

“Ancoradouro offers a wide menu featuring local dishes, and we especially recommend any fish/seafood dish. It has a beautiful view over Faial island and the ocean, and it's only 1 min walking from Casa do Cacto. It is closed on Mondays; the kitchen usually closes at 10pm. ”

Shopping Mall
“Another big supermarket in Madalena, about 20min walking from the town centre. As well as finding all essentials, you also have a wider variety of beverages, especially spirits and wine. In the same building you may also find a beauty salon/hairdresser, a parapharmacy, a cafe, two clothing shops, a decoration store, a shop (for tobacco, lottery, magazines and stationery), a dentist clinic and other services. Opens all week from 8.30am-8pm. ”

“Local health centre. No, it is not in Lisbon - it's in Pico, but Google is confused. ;) ”

Bar
“We love Café Concerto! Spacious & quirky bar (indoors and outdoor terrace) featuring all sorts of entertainment - foosball, pool table, darts, chess, playing cards and domino, as well as a wide vintage collection of books and Comics. It often has live music at night; Jam Sessions happen every Wednesday from 11pm, so if you play any instrument, Miria and Ana (the owners) would love to have you around! Besides the usual good vibes, it also serves very good food - try the mini burger or any of their toasts. It's a calm and quiet place during the day, but busier and louder at night. Please note: it's a cash only bar; it's closed on Mondays but open every other day from 3pm-2am. ”

Italian Restaurant
“The one and only Italian restaurant on the island - and it's absolutely delicious (try the Lasagna)! Located in quite a private and higher area surrounded by forest, it offers a stunning view over Madalena town, Faial island and the ocean. It's a perfect location for meals but also for a drink at sunset. ”

“Via Bar is located in the town centre with a great seafront terrace. We recommend it for a drink at sunset or after dinner. Ask for Ana and she'll serve you a fine gin&tonic. :)”
