Places to stay in Lydbury North
My house is in pretty countryside, open fields, riverside & good walking. Well stocked village shop close by. Good pub 1 mile. The house is old & full of character with flagstone floors, open fire, exposed stone, comfortable beds, extra large bath, central heating. The pretty enclosed garden has a hot tub which is perfect for lying back & star-gazing with bats flitting overhead. Ideal for couples & families (with children) & furry friends (pets) £50 ref deposit if over 2 dogs.
The cottage has a minimum stay of 3 nights. However, it can be available for 2 night stays MIDWEEK ONLY provided guests bring their own linen and towels.
South Shropshire is chilled and laid back. You are unlikely to be bothered by anyone.
  • I can't even describe how lovely the house is until you see it. The house is full of charm and character. Ali kindly leaves very useful notes for house quirks but we had no issues. The garden is spacious for the dogs and enclosed. The hot tub was a lovely touch (despite it being a little different) Thank you so much

  • A little gem. Such a rustic, cosy cottage with everything that we needed. The hot tub was a huge bonus and loved the log fire. Really good value for money. Ali has been really great with communication and has been really helpful throughout. Would definitely recommend.

  • Had a lovely coupleof nights at Ali's. Cottage is beautiful and quaint, communication with Ali was great, house was very clean and tidy. Lovely addition of the lazy spa, and open fire. Very quiet location but only a drive away from villages and towns. House was warm when we got there, and had no issues with the heating while we were there.

  • A wonderful cottage for a peaceful break, had everything you'd expect with a little bit more.. beautiful surrounding countryside and villages.. a perfect get away place.. 👌

    Pam2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay! Surrounding and cottage was very charming and quaint albeit quite chilly!! Ali was very good at responding to messages and the lovely little touches made the stay!!

    Hannah2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage. Has everything you need and is close drive to the town. A little cold but that was to be expected so warm cosy layers are a plus.

    Belle2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place. Loved every minute of it. The 100 house pub up the road does some great food and beer. The supermarket in Craven arms isn't far, and extra logs are cheap as chips there. Ludlow and the Shropshire hills are both a short drive. A stunning area indeed.

    Matt2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, authentic country cottage. With amazing character and modern amenities you get the best of everything. The hot tub is a luxury addition to an already stunning home. The nearby village has some lovely walks and views but you need to drive for a pub really. Clun castle is well worth a visit and the scones from the postcard cafe are lovely. Fish & chip supper from the kangaroo inn was also delicious. Ali is a wonderful hostess, made sure there was wood for the fire and the hot tub was ready to go. Great communication and a perfect location.

We had a relaxing couple of days walking around some of Shropshire's castle ruins and we would highly recommend the Bury Ditches walk with stunning views from the top! Thank you Duncan, from Wendy, Kam and Baxter the dog

  • The Granary was perfect for a weekend stay for me, my husband and our 2 year-old daughter. It is comfortable and really cosy and it's fitted out to a high standard. Close to Bishops Castle and Clun and easy to explore the Shropshire Hills. Susan was a good host and provided plenty of leaflets about local walks and amenities.

  • Very comfortable, spacious, clean, rural location. Perfect for a little get-a-way. Thank you!

  • I arrived on the Friday night and so I didn’t get to fully appreciate how lovely the setting of this converted barn is. It really is a beautiful and quiet location and the converted barn itself is a lovely space. We were a short taxi from Walcott Hall but I would recommend booking any late taxis back well in advance, as we did. A few other guests were stuck and ended up paying a much higher fare. Fantastic place to stay and Susan was very friendly, helpful and informative leading up to our arrival and during.

    Neil2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Granary is a superb barn conversion with everything you could ask for, the local area is ideal for walkers. I highly recommend Susan’s place and look forward to going there again.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Janet's place. Even in winter the garden and surroundings are beautiful and full of life - we really enjoyed watching the birds from the sofa while tucking into a delicious breakfast in our dressing gowns (also provided by Janet)! There are several pubs serving good food within a few minutes' drive and we went on a lovely walk from the house (the Wart Hill wander - well signposted once you get onto the route). Thank you, Janet :)

Beautiful wood to walk in and just get some solace!

  • It's a very lovely and quaint little place with a lovely view. The host had thought of everything and the setup of the place is really nice. Finding the place was reasonably easy, even in the dark. I would definitely go there again if staying in the area.

    Harry2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night but this is an excellent place for two. The view is outstanding. There was an excellent choice of things for breakfast. In the past we have paid almost the same amount to stay in a caravan or a camping pod.

    Stuart2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Janet's place is fantastic value, with extra touches you just don't get with AirBnBs. The rooms are spacious and clean, in a truely stunning setting. I found Janet to be a warm and welcoming host, quick to respond to any queries. The stay is connected to Janet's house but allows you to live independently and with complete privacy.

    Tim2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Janet is a wonderful host and we had a very enjoyable stay at her studio apartment. The homemade bread is a highlight. Do not expect wifi or mobile phone reception to be good but if peace and quiet is what you seek then look no further.

  • I had a lovely stay at the Bothy. It was so comfortable and peaceful - great for writing. Nina’s attention to detail, the thoughtful welcome of craft beers, guide books and eg directions for walks, etc made it really enjoyable. I thoroughly recommend!

  • We visited over Christmas - the heaters were excellent (one place we stayed at in winter was freezing cold). Lovely little get away from it all with rural location and views. You may even have to herd a sheep if one strays onto the private lane!

    Christine2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay for peace and quiet. Nina is a great host and the bothy is a fantastic retreat for a couple who love a bit of peace and quiet and wonderful countryside.

  • What a fantastic little set up, deep into the shropshire hills with views to die for. If you want a break from it all, peace an quiet, surrounded by great walking and cycling country, with a cosy little cottage to come home to, then this is the place for you. With Clun and Bishops Castle a short drive or medium walk away, surround by farms and castles to explore, so much to do, a long wkend was not enough time.

My place is central in this small quiet market town in the Shropshire Hills . It is a first floor small apartment above the Severn Hospice Charity shop. Accessed through a private door at the side. There is on street parking outside. There is secure storage for cycles and we can arrange luggage transfer if required. You'll love my place because the shops and restaurants and pubs and information centre are all yards away. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.

  • A great location in a quiet little town with everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable break. Free on-street parking, bus to Shrewsbury, very good pubs/hotel for meals but the kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook for yourselves and small supermarkets within a couple of minutes walk. We highly recommend Gaynor's place.

  • Lovely cottage in a super location for walking and chilling out in.

  • Wonderful cosy cottage! Everything was sparkling clean and very well presented. David and Suzanne were lovely and very helpful. Highly recommend!

    Alicia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The kitchen is fully equipped, the whole place was warmed up before we arrived, the host greeted us and left ourselves to ourselves for the whole stay. Even as we were stranded from flooding we were invited to extend our stay without any issues. Very conscientious hosts who are committed to their guests having the best stay possible.

    Leonard2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • First impressions “sparkling clean & spacious”, with plenty of space, shelving to store possessions and kitchen foods for our 4 nights stay. Enjoyed the views from the lounge of the Shropshire hills where we went walking and cycling, sunrises in the mornings & wood burning stove after dinner. Would recommended train journey into Wales from nearby Knighton to Llandrindod Wells for excellent walking routes up into the hills. Very comfortable bed with cotton sheets for a sleep filled night at the end of each wonderful day outdoors. A birthday treat away from home. Rosemary & Andrew, Cumbria.

    Natalie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely comfortable and cosy cottage. Walking distance to Clun (if you don't mind walking up the hill on the way back!) which has a couple of pubs and a well-stocked small supermarket. Lovely views and good walks from the door.

    Tessa2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Dingle Cottage was excellent in every way. We really appreciated the wine, milk etc on arrival and loved the space, style, log burner, location and views. The beautiful village with its pub and cafe were only a 15 minute walk away. Our only disappointment was that we were just there for 3 nights.

    Alison2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our return visit to Dingle Cottage was very enjoyable. Extra touches, such as the bottle of wine and sweet treats, made us feel welcome. The underfloor heating and log burner add to the very cozy feel. Dingle Cottage is sparkling clean and feels rather special. A great place for a relaxing stay!

As its name suggests, the Penthouse occupies the top floor of the Old Vicarage, a grade 2 listed Georgian house with much older roots, located directly behind the church of St John the Baptist in the heart of the historic market town of Bishops Castle. From its lofty location guests can enjoy far reaching views over the town and hills beyond.
With completely independent access from the main house via an external staircase, the accommodation includes a cosy sitting room, two king-sized bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom (bath with shower over). There is a folding ‘put you up’ bed suitable for an additional younger person and a travel cot if required (cot bedding not supplied). Guests are also welcome to enjoy the splendid grounds of the Old Vicarage; one and a half acres of formal gardens, orchard, and a folly built from the ruined remains of the medieval church. The house and gardens are shared by two cats and a large but friendly family dog. It may be possible for guests to bring a well behaved dog providing it doesn’t chase cats! Please enquire. Access is up an outdoor staircase (28 steps) making it unsuitable for those with accessibility issues. For this reason, and as there is a pond in the garden, small children must be supervised at all times. Off-road parking and locked cycle storage are available if required. NB The Old Vicarage also includes the Oriel Glass Studio offering holiday courses in stained glass for both beginners and improvers. Please enquire with Helen.

  • A fantastic, stylish and beautiful home in an super location, with plenty of local walks, pubs and countryside to explore.

  • The Grain Loft was much bigger than we had anticipated and was spotlessly clean. It was perfect for a weekend getaway, but would be equally good for longer stays. It is surrounded by beautiful, rolling countryside which is great for walking.

  • What a great place. So peaceful and tranquil. Beautiful scenery, lovely hosts and a fantastic cottage. The Grain Loft is brilliant and much more spacious than you would think. The photos really don't give it enough credit. We loved it, a great family get away and we will most certainly be returning. Thank you Elaine, we love the Shropshire Hills and the Grain Loft is now our go to location!!!

My place is close to restaurants and dining, family-friendly activities, and public transport. You’ll love my place because of Private garden and light filled living space. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
This is available in a static caravan set in its own garden area between two mature apple trees. There are two bedrooms one with a double bed and the other with two singles which can be pushed together to form a double bed. There is a light and spacious sitting and dining room with gas fire television and views over the garden and hills beyond. There is also a small fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker fridge and microwave oven. The bathroom contains a small bath and shower over together with toilet and washbasin. A cot can be made available and additional beds for up to two additional people in the sitting room can be provided by arrangement. Outside there is a table and seating and a fire pit so that guests can enjoy sitting outside and perhaps a barbecue. Walkers and cyclists are very welcome as are dogs by arrangement and there is a secure garage for bicycles. Free wifi connection.
Home Page New House is a former Victorian farmhouse on the outskirts of the charming town of Bishops Castle ten minutes walk from the town centre. It is set amidst attractive countryside with views of the surrounding hills including Long Mynd. We offer bed and breakfast in the house and self catering accommodation in a static caravan set in its own garden. Guests are welcome to use the garden and visit the pigs. You will probably see red kites as they circle over the garden on a daily basis. Electricity is provided by PV panels and the creation of a large pond and wildlife garden are works in progress. Currently rare breed pigs are being reared. These are helping to clear the land for the wildlife garden and will then provide bacon and sausages for breakfast. There is off road parking and secure lock up in the garage for bicycles. Dogs are welcome by arrangement. Bishops Castle is an excellent centre for walkers and cyclists being surrounded by beautiful and little frequented countryside. Walking maps are available and bicycles may be hired in the town. It is a town with many facilities and attractions quite disproportionate to the small population. These include tourist information, a lie sure centre with theatre and swimming bath, a number of pubs two of which brew their own ale and a variety of establishments providing food.
  • Jan was really helpful with local tips and made sure the caravan was made ready and warm for our arrival. The location is perfect for a short walk into Bishops Castle - one of our favourite places.

  • Stayed at Jan's Place for 2 nights due to attending a wedding at nearby Walcott Hall. This accomodation is as described, it is a static caravan which whilst not modern, was clean and had all essentials that you require. We didnt hear any noise from dog kennels (as per previous reviews) nor did we find the road too noisy. Our almost 2 year old loved watching the hens roam around the garden in the morning, and Jan gave him a fresh egg to bring home for his breakfast as we hadn't eaten one whilst we were there. All in all a lovely relaxing couple of nights and great value.

Janice is a very attentive host , I arrived late with muddy everything after a long days walking and left with clean boots and washed clothes without having to do them myself!. Janice's home is lovely and filled with interesting things. Everything needed was available. I would very much recommend a stay if you want to be looked after. Many thanks Trevor

Thank you so much for the loveliest stay, wonderful cake, dinner when we thought we would be getting in late, local tips, saving me from unexpected snow with raincoat and gloves (very good call Jerry!), recipes, knife sharpening tour, game show and strictly come dancing re-introduction, Lola snuggles, and mostly the lovely conversations. Felt like coming home away from home. Such a treat. If we come back your way we know where to stay <3

  • Great hosts, lovely house and amazing homemade (vegan) cake. Highly recommend!

  • Janice was a really welcoming host, made me a cake, shared her awesome soup and was very understanding when I turned up with my bike drenched from the rain. Also gave some good tips on the pub, which is quite handy being just across the road.

Cosy 2 room annex set in ancient farm courtyard. Located within an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to the Long Mynd a stretch of hills popular with walkers and nature lovers. Provides an ideal base to explore the local area.
The barn is a separate annex to our main property and is completely self contained. • Main bedroom - contains a large king size bed that can be split into two singles if required • Living room/second bedroom - a spacious room with an L shaped sofa bed that converts to a comfy double - plus a seperate regular sofa • Bathroom - a large roll top bath, and separate shower cubicle • Kitchenette - a galley style kitchen with basic essentials combi - oven/microwave, induction hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. • Tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk provided • TV , hi fi and internet
We are set in a hamlet which dates back to 1394. Ancestors of the original landowners still live in the village and take an active interest in the community. There are plenty of scenic walks around the area and the Long Mynd stretch of hills is within easy access. There is no shop or pub in our hamlet but the town of Craven Arms is only 2 miles away. It has a well stocked supermarket, post office, bakery and a few cafes and takeaway restaurants. The village of Wistanstow is only a couple of miles by road or a 20 min hike across the fields . It has its own brewery attached to the local pub The Plough and a village shop. The medieval town of Ludlow, is a mere 15 mins drive and has a regular market, lots of independent shops and restaurants. Ludlow is renowned for its locally sourced organic food and hosts two food festivals every year. Church Stretton is a pretty market town only 6 miles away and makes a great base for walking up to the summit of the Long Mynd.
  • Really stylish, very well appointed and comfy. Very clean, It’s easy to find, great location, and really friendly and helpful hosts who have thought of everything right down to the last detail. Would definitely stay again when in the area. 😀

  • Julia and George's place is a hidden gem tucked away in the Shropshire countryside! The directions to the annex were easy to follow and we had no troubles finding it. We were met by George who showed us around. The annex is immaculately clean, well equipped with everything you could need and incredibly cosy! All the beds were really comfortable, all had electric blankets which was a great touch. There was plenty of space for 3 of us and a dog, the utility room next door is a great space for cleaning muddy paws and boots. This is a great base for exploring Shropshire and we are already discussing a return trip! Thank you to Julia and George!

  • Julia and George were the perfect hosts and we had everything we needed for a fantastic stay. The annex was cosy and welcoming, and there were lovely little touches everywhere, from hair straighteners and electric toothbrush heads, to milk fresh bread and eggs. We definitely would stay here again.

A King size is also available on our 1st floor.
Located a few hundred metres from the centre of Clun, easy parking onsite and a really quiet place to relax.
Clun is a beautiful, peaceful South Shropshire village in a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' with all the local amenities that you could need, including; 2 pubs, tea rooms, shops, an historic castle and an ancient packhorse bridge, not forgetting the beautiful River Clun, which runs at the bottom of the garden.

  • Really fantastic hosts!

    Natty2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Graeme are excellent hosts who went above and beyond for us. Our twin room was lovely, clean and had little extras such as ensuite bathroom and USB plugs etc with a beautiful view of the garden. We rocked up completely soaked from the torrential downpour to be met at the door with a hot cup of tea, scones and a hot shower awaiting, with our dirty washing whisked away. We took Linda up on the option of an evening dinner for a small supplement which was excellently cooked and well worth it. Graeme cooked us a delicious breakfast in the morning which sustained a stocky lad for 90 miles of cycling to Warrington. I would highly recommend staying here; whether you are cycling, hiking or just visiting South Shropshire for a pleasant stay.

The Hobbit Cottage is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Shropshire Hills. Guests will have access to their own private space with separate entrance and all amenities to hand. A very cosy space with loads of character. As the property is over 200 years old, and as the name of the let hints at, it has areas with restricted headroom. Perfect for the modern hobbit! Orcs may struggle. A great area for walkers and four legged friends who are welcome at The Hobbit Cottage.
The property has its own entrance which is on street level. You enter into the oldest part of the property which has a dining, sitting area with galley kitchen. Breakfast ingredients provided - continental or full English or both! As guests have access to the galley kitchen, they will be able to make whatever meals they like. The property has a wealth of original features with flagstone and tile floor on the ground level, Up the winding stairs to a small landing with shower room and bed sitting room with views out over the prevailing hills and private garden. A perfect place to retreat too after a day walking in the hills or exploring the local area which includes the market towns of Ludlow, Bishops Castle, Church Stretton and Craven Arms.
The Hobbit Cottage is situated in a very quiet hamlet, surrounded by hills. There are no amenities in the hamlet, apart from the Church. The nearest shop and Pub are 1.5 miles in Aston on Clun, home of the famous Arbor Tree. Stokesay Castle ( English Heritage) and Stokesay Court (film location for Atonement) are only a few miles away. Bishops Castle with the famous Woods Brewery is only 6 miles away from the Hobbit Cottage. Discretely located behind the Three Tuns pub and Brewery the former stable block provides light and airy accommodation with the bedroom and en-suite downstairs and living area upstairs. Great for walkers with Shropshire Way, Offa's Dyke and Longmynd all close by. In the evening there are restaurant's alongside pubs, breweries and cafes close by.

Bishops Castle is a beautiful historic town based in the South Shropshire hills close to the Welsh border. It is a town popular with walkers as it has a lot of different walking routes, and then at night it has a variety of eateries and also a reputation for real ale (Bishops Castle has the oldest recorded micro brewery in Britain, The Three Tuns Brewery and our cottage is part of the stable block that belonged to the brewery). In May 2017, Bishops Castle was also nominated by the Sunday Times as one of the best places to live in Britain.

  • We stayed for just over a week at the Eco Cabin- myself, husband and 4 year old, with our parents staying over for one of the nights. It was quite honestly one of the best self catering cabins we have stayed in and such fantastic value too. Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Take your own towels and bed linen, but the duvets and pillows and beds provided were so comfy, there is a huge fridge and freezer and basic supplies were there (bin bags, loo roll, washing up liquid, cooking oil etc). The shower was fantastic. The views are superb, and it felt very private with the seating area in front and a little garden to the side that was very private, with a lovely large grassy area on the other side between the cabin and their other self catering cabin . The campsite itself was very peaceful, clean and quiet and it was just a short 10 minute walk, all off road, to Bishops Castle, following the 'Shropshire Way' (perfect with a little one, not having to go along a road), where there were some lovely little shops and a Co-op and Spar for getting in supplies (there is no shop at the campsite, although they have an excellent breakfast catering van open Saturday and Sunday during the main season). We look forward to booking again.

Lovely newly restored bijou semi- detached cottage nestling in the beautiful S. Shropshire Hills right on the Shropshire Way footpath and within 200 metres of the centre of Bishop's Castle, a quaint small Welsh borders town with shops, real ale pubs and lovely walks.

We will definitely be returning😘😘😘

My cottage is the converted stable of Sally, the pony belonging to the children of author Malcolm Saville, of Lone Pine fame. It is a perfect space for a peaceful, cosy getaway, built of solid Ludlow stone and has lots of character. My garden is full of birds which visit the many feeders and are wonderful to watch from the porch area of the property. The cottage nestles within the large garden. A great base for walking the Shropshire hills and for getting away from it all. Amenities 3 miles.
Super-comfortable king-sized bedroom looking out to views of the Long Mynd; kitchen, bathroom, sitting room -cum-dining room; books, dvd's, wifi, outer porch with table and chairs; bird food supplied-please ask- the garden is visited by all sorts of birds including goldfinches, woodpeckers, long-tailed tits, many different finches etc, sometimes pheasants parade with their wives in the garden. I am happy to host you for three nights minimum stay. The bed is made up with high quality bedding from The White Company or equivalent, and you will be lulled to sleep under a goose-down duvet and sumptuous pillows. There is also an electric blanket for chillier winter nights. In low-season I can offer two nights minimum but ask that you bring your own linen. Towels are provided.
You will be coming to a very rural and secluded place, at the top of a track, unseen from the road, looking out on to beautiful scenery all around. Car is essential!
  • Just a fantastic place to stay for a few days in the Shropshire hills, in fact, our second time back in 2 years! Tucked out the way but only 5 min drive to Church Stretton and bucket loads of walking and fab pubs. Suzie is kind and great at the email for any queries, but it feels detached enough that you totally have your own space. The cottage itself is small but for 2 people, its plenty. Gorgeous bath and lovely touch's. Very recommend :)

  • Susie's cottage is a charming space set in tranquil surroundings and perfect for exploring Shropshire. There were a few thoughtful touches like breakfast goodies, bottle of wine and G&Ts. We had a lovely stay here with our dog.

  • This is a delightful, bijou stable conversion - warm and cosy, and filled with tasteful and thoughtful touches by hostess Susie who lives in the large house adjacent. I am a musician myself, so enjoyed hearing Susie practicing her piano when we walked to the car. The tiny cottage has comfortable living-room, a little kitchen equipped with everything you could want (except scissors ...), a bright and warm bathroom with a very stylish bath on legs, and upstairs a comfortable and stylish bedroom with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Susie had left fresh flowers and chocolates for us, and a pot of home-made jam for purchase if we so desired. We enjoyed watching the many small birds visiting the bird-table, and the setting is utterly peaceful with no road noise, airplanes, or other disturbances. We loved staying and would definitely like to come back.

    Ann2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a gem. The location is special geographically for access to the Long Mynd, and locally for its wonderful landscaped garden with access to hilly woods, and the cottage is very comfortable with some super touches (garden flowers in a vase, black slate table furniture, and there's room in the bathroom for a bath). This is a peaceful place and you will sleep well in that luxurious bed. Both Susie and Barbara were great hosts and made me feel very welcome and at home.

  • It was a lovely stay at this cottage in Bishops Castle. I know the area well and we needed a lot of space due to a lot of family coming to stay, so this was perfect for us. It was very easy to schedule to check in with Linda, who was very friendly and went through everything we would need to know for the house. Overall, highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the lovely town of Bishops Castle.

  • We had a lovely weekend at Bailey End in February half term, staying with friends. We were 9 people in total; 4 adults and 5 children and the house fitted us all very comfortably. The house is so beautiful! The photos don't do it justice. It's full of quirky features with all the modern facilities you might need. The beds were very cozy and the children loved the electric blankets. Mrs Angell lit the woodburner for us before we arrived, which gave us a very warm welcome. Our dog really enjoyed his stay too. Bishops Castle is a great place to explore. We had never heard of it before and chose it because it seemed to be half way between us and our friends. The arts festival was on so we visited several open studios and the craft fair. The countryside is beautiful, even in the February storms and there are many signposted paths around. We visited Croft Castle (NT) on the way and Stokesay Castle (EH) too. I think we may be back!

  • What a lovely character filled house. One of the most well equipped kitchens we have had in a holiday let. We loved the large lounge family space - bigger in reality. No problem with parking. Bedrooms comfortable, and perfect heating for a winter stay. The location is within easy reach of village; With several pubs, takeaways and shops. Days out on Long Mynd, The Stipperstones and to Offa’s Dyke are within easy reach, with several local walks too. We would definitely visit again.

  • A house that is both comfortable and full of character in a beautiful little town. Large well equipped kitchen, powerful woodburner in the living room and good range of bedrooms. Peaceful while being a two minute walk to the centre of town. We were lucky enough to be there for the town's Christmas lights celebrations and fireworks although Bishops Castle is always worth a visit. It is full of interesting shops and places to eat and drink, as well as being surrounded by outstanding countryside.

Grade II listed barn and former cowshed now provides a unique getaway in the heart of the Shropshire countryside. An ideal place for families and friends to get together. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Located in the hamlet of Cheney Longville within an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to the Long Mynd a stretch of hills popular with walkers and nature lovers.
Built in 1745 this barn has been lovingly converted into a unique living space. The open plan living area consists of kitchen, dining area and sitting room using the full height of the architecture and revealing many original oak beams and stonework. Natural light floods the space via the floor to ceiling windows in the kitchen and skylights in the roof. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you may need to make family meals and has a well stocked spice rack and fresh herbs in the garden. The kitchen features a central island which is big enough to serve as an informal dining space. The living area has a large oak dining table which can seat 12 and a comfy seating area around an open fireplace. The master bedroom on the ground floor has a kingsize bed and 42" TV screen. The en-suite bathroom has a walk in shower and cast iron roll top bath. There is also a separate dressing area with plenty of hanging space, dressing table and hairdyer. Also on the ground floor is a twin bedroom, adjacent to separate WC with basin, suitable for children or adults. The second floor bedroom has a standard double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath , WC and basin. There is also an open plan space on the upstairs landing equipped with sofa, large TV, video games and lots of board games - a perfect hideaway for the children - an extra bed can be accommodated here if needed The spacious lawned garden is ideal for kicking a ball around, playing badminton or swing ball (all provided) or simply relaxing and enjoying the view
We are set in a hamlet which dates back to 1394. Ancestors of the original landowners still live in the village and take an active interest in the community. There are plenty of scenic walks around the area and the Long Mynd stretch of hills is within easy access. There are no shops or pubs in our village but Craven Arms is only 2 miles away and has a big supermarket and all the necessary amenities The village of Wistanstow is a 20 min walk across the fields and has its own brewery with pub and a village shop. The medieval town of Ludlow, is a mere 15 mins drive and has lots of independent shops and restaurants. Ludlow is renowned for its locally sourced organic food and hosts two food festivals every year. Church Stretton, a pretty market town is also nearby has many cafes and a great antiques emporium
  • One of my favourite Airbnb experiences. We stayed here with my family of 6 adults and 1 child and we had plenty of room. The barn is stunning and is one of the most unique well designed Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in. The interior is beautiful and very tasteful designed. The kitchen is great, we cooked a few meals in here and had everything we needed. The hifi system is amazing! And finally Julia and George are fantastic hosts. They are relaxed, friendly and helpful. They gave us excellent walking recommendations. We would love to stay again!!

  • All four adults in the party really enjoyed our weekend break here. The hosts were great and waited for us to arrive before dark....just incase and were very welcoming. The barn conversation is stunning and the internal decor is top notch. I would highly recommend staying in this beautiful property with amazing surrounding areas and local amenities. Thanks Julia & George, We will definitely be back.

  • Beautifully converted barn, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Great base to visit the beauties of Shropshire- Ludlow is really close by- or simply snuggle up on the sofas in front of the log fire. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay really enjoyable and neighbours were great too. Dog towels and throws provided and the garden was enclosed and big enough for the late night walk! Highly recommended.

  • Julia and George’s converted barn is all you need for an amazing stay in the British countryside. We had a lovely long weekend here with my family (young children, adults and a dog) filled with cozy evenings by the fire, countryside pub walks and a Sunday roast. The house was fully equipped with games for kids, movies, cozy blankets, big kitchen and even a fresh loaf of bread on arrival. Julia and George were very helpful throughout and made sure everything was sorted for us. I can’t recommend enough!

  • This is a beautiful property set in a lovely peaceful corner of Shropshire. The hosts are very friendly and efficient. They live nearby but are discreet and respectful of guests' privacy. We had a really lovely weekend stay here whilst seeing family nearby. It is a great base for exploring the area, especially the Shropshire hills around Church Stretton which is about 10-15 mins drive. Definitely recommend.
