Spa
“Spa and steam room - for about £25 you get several hours' access to an amazing complex of heat treatments - herbal saunas, steam rooms, a caldarium, ice bath, plunge pool, and a lounge room with magazines and herbal teas. An affordable treat. Check Groupon - they have frequent special offers. CHECK online for gendered hours - there are some couples sessions, but mostly the spa is men only or women only. (Note: I have called and left a message asking them about their policy regarding gender-non-binary and trans* individuals, I'm waiting for their reply). The swimming pool upstairs costs a few pounds for one visit.”

Athletics & Sports
“The park is not very big but it is beautiful, clean and with some nice and tidy gardens. On sunny days it can get busy but not as busy as other parks like Hyde Park. They have many sports facilities for outdoors sports, a fitness suite and a cafe. I use the tennis facilities and I am very happy with the courts. The cost is really low and there is a good number of courts (around 13), both tarmac and synthetic. The courts have trees around them to provide some peace and quiet while you play.”

Yoga Studio
“This is my beloved yoga studio, just on the other side of Hackney Downs. I have attended most teachers' classes here, and I can only say they are all incredibly good, compassionate and friendly. Don't be intimidated by the thought of 20-something fitties in lycra: yogis coming here are all levels, ages, shapes and sizes , and generally all friendly to each other. If you're visiting London for a few weeks for work maybe, and feel you need to take a little time to look after yourself, just come here. You'll leave standing taller and breathing deeper.”
