We were a bit disappointed with the whole experience. We felt very cramped and facilities were poor for the advertised description. Would not recommend.

The accommodations were serene and remote in a quaint and historic location 20 minutes by car from Bergerac. The beds were comfortable and linens smelled delicious! The town was quiet except for the bells on the hour from 7am but we enjoyed those, too. Very pleasant accommodations!

We enjoyed our stay in Lanquais.. a very quaint village. This lovely old home is right in the village center, very clean and comfortable. Thank you Allistair for a lovely stay in your village.

What a wonderful place. A beautifully restored historic home in a most charming, quiet, little French village. Alister is the perfect host and made us feel very welcome. The local restaurant offered a good menu choice at reasonable prices.

This delightful 3 story cottage is the epicenter of the tiny village of Lanquais. There is a small store no more than 20 steps away, don't forget to order your croissants the day B4. There is also a nice restaurant for lunch and dinner not much over 300 meters up the road. The photos in the listing are quite accurate. The host is very helpful and there is a very complete collection of brochure on local attractions(URL HIDDEN)Lanquais is off of the beaten tourist track but is very centrally located for visiting the sites of the Dordogne, Vezere and Dronne valleys. There are some ex-patriots here but they tend to be summer home owners. The residents are friendly and helpful but they just let you fit in and seem to barely notice that you are there(URL HIDDEN) I would definitely come back and it was well worth the fee.

The accommodation was consistent with the description, it's a nice house in a quiet environment, with the exception of the bells in the morning, which nevertheless part of the charm of the place.

Housing was consistent with the pictures of the announcement and expectations. The house Maryline was spacious and warm. The kitchen and the bathroom was very well equipped. The room was bright, clean and perfect bedding.

A really lovely little gite set in beautiful gently rolling country side of the Dordogne just 20 minutes from Bergerac. The gite has everything you need inside and out with plenty of places to sit out and enjoy the views in the shade or in the sun! We were too early in the year for the pool but it looks gorgeous! Catherine has thought of everything and is really helpful in everyway . You can use this little treasure of a place as a base to explore the lovely villages and towns and country side of the region, but you will also want to spend time here at the property just enjoying the tranquility of the place ! We fully recommend the place !

This was the most lovely experience! The house itself was sympathetically restored and beautifully equipped - airy and deceptively roomy for a small place. It's absolutely perfect for a couple and the kitchen is thoughtfully kitted out. Catherine couldn't have been kinder or more generous and was full of suggestions about places to go and things to do, though sadly I didn't have enough time to do much, apart from going to a tremendous market in a village close by. Lovely swimming pool, where my grandson learned to swim, and huge garden in which to picnic or doze under a tree. Couldn't recommend this more..

The gite was in tranquil surroundings. The pool is wonderful, and the gardens around it are just lovely - so much space, a wonderful view and very peaceful to relax in. Having the pool to yourselves is such a treat! The use of the BBQ made for lovely evenings watching the sunset. The gite was small but had enough space for two, although air con or a fan would have been nice at night - instead we just left the windows wide open! The local village had a lovely bakery for daily croissants but a car is a must even for this journey. Although Catherine spoke very little English and we spoke very little French, she was on hand to help if required but left us to it most of the time. If you are looking for a chance to enjoy the beautiful French outdoors and chill out in the middle of nowhere, this is the place for you!

Nous avons également bien profité du jardin et de la piscine, le tout est tellement agréable et si bien entretenu! Catherine nous a très bien accueilli, conseillé et dépanné au besoin. Un grand merci à Catherine pour son accueil, sa gentillesse et sa disponibilité. Le logement est des plus agréables, bien agencé et décoré avec goût. Le calme environnant est très appréciable. Une mention particulière également pour la piscine .... que du bonheur.... de nager en pleine campagne, à proximité des lavandes et des noyers. La disposition de tables et chaises dehors permet de prendre tous les repas à l'extérieur si on le souhaite, en toute sérénité. Une adresse que nous ne sommes pas prêts d'oublier et que nous recommandons vivement.

Nous avons passé un séjour formidable dans ce lieu calme, reposant et magnifiquement restauré/décoré. Catherine s'est rendue disponible et discrète durant l'ensemble du séjour tout en nous faisant profiter de délicieux produits issus du jardin, de ses bons conseils, de sa gentillesse... Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le jardin (délicatement entretenu chaque jour par Catherine) et sa piscine (15m de long !!). Pour les accros au wi-fi, il est nécessaire de sortir du gîte pour se connecter (cela est du aux pierres anciennes de la ferme qui bloquent la connexion). Mais un petit coin est prévu pour s'installer et bénéficier de la connexion sans problème. Pour que le séjour soit plus que parfait, nous aurions apprécié une literie plus moelleuse (bien évidemment, ceci est un avis personnel). Merci encore à Catherine pour ce séjour :)

Catherine nous a bien accueilli. Très gentille et avenante. Le logement que Catherine nous a proposé était de grande qualité, confortable, très propre et d'une décoration de très bon goût. Le cadre très agréable et calme, nous a permis de jouir de la piscine en toute sérénité. Chaque soir, le ciel nous a offert un panorama d'étoiles. Le logement est par ailleurs idéalement situé pour effectuer des visites des villes et domaines de la région. Merci encore pour cette petite semaine.

Christine was there opening the gates to greet us from the moment we pulled up outside her wonderful B&B. We were treated like one of the family and were sad to leave. My travelling companian Lee had a sore back and neck from driving and after one of Christine's massages, Lee was better than ever. Our beds, rooms, kitchen and bathroom were all first class. Christine recommended great places to visit in the area and also took us into the local market at Miramont and gave us some tips on good vegetable and fruit stalls. Christine gave us a fabulous breakfast of porridge, fresh fruit, muesli, fruit juice, coffee, scrambled eggs and toast and we went away absolutely full. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her. Christine also gave us bananas and bread to take on our travels, We even spent a wonderful evening together over a wine. Although we didn't meet her husband Alan, we heard all about his travels and felt we knew him. We met their cats who are all very friendly, and I loved their chooks. If you ever get to this part of France you will never find a better place to stay than at Christine's B&B in Lanquis. We will certainly recommend it to our friends and would definitely stay again. Alan and Christine were amazing hosts, because of logistics issues my girlfriend and me ended up arriving at 12:00 a.m. Nonetheless, Alan was there to receive us. Both Alan's and Christine treated us as if we were their close friends, we enjoyed interesting talks during breakfast and dinner and we even had a beer with some friends of them who where visiting. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and fresh, Croissants, fruit, cereal and juice. Not only was food great, but travel recommendations about places to visit nearby were very accurate and enchanting. I would recommend this place 100%

I strongly recomend Chistine's home. De spend two days with them. I still remember their estupend breekfast. Thank you for all..

This house is in the centrum of Perigord and it is very easy to visit all small towns around the house. It is a very nice house and very confortable.

Pleasant and comfortable stay at Christine & Alan. small immersion in England and his famous hearty breakfasts. Christine and Alan (and their dog and cats) are of a kind that makes you want to come back to them. Their house is very well placed for a walk either in the forest, along the Dordogne or to join the small peaceful villages. Thank you for everything Sylvain & Julia

Really wonderful night in Lanquais! I can't recommend Christine and her husband enough...really welcoming and understanding of our needs (ie being slightly hungover the morning after a big wedding! ;-) ) A lovely breakfast ...everything was top notch!

We really enjoyed our time at La Petite Fountaine. The cottage is as it appears in the photos, cosy, well stocked and all mod cons. Sandra and Dennis made sure we arrived to bread, cheese, wine and milk for tea and coffee. They were gracious, friendly hosts and we enjoyed chatting with them. The Gite is close to the village and the swimming lake and a good central location for checking out the Dordogne. We were on bicycles and enjoyed lots of great cycling in the area.

The house is a charming cottage in the small village of Lanquais. The house is nicely and is very complete. Spices, detergent, shampoo, you can use it all. Picking fruit in the garden of the owners may be. There is a bed on the landing upstairs and a separate bedroom with two beds. Too bad that the second bedroom has no window, though there vent is heard through the rafters. There are two bathrooms, two toilets, the kitchen is neat and complete, and the living room has two nice sofas. Outside you have a private terrace (comfortable) chairs. There is also a small pool (such a circular plastic tub with a diameter of about 4 meters). The cottage is right on the road. Although it is a quiet road, the car's sometimes drove along pretty fast. The village has one shop where you can go and buy bread in the morning and a restaurant. Furthermore, no amenities. At about 5 km you will find Lalinde However, a larger village with shops, restaurants, etc. Opposite the house is a former swimming pond. This should now not swim anymore. Anything with fish that are turned off and the water are unfit. Anyway, you can walk around it, pretty fun, we were there at a deer at dusk. You look some campers and picnics are sometimes a few, but it's mostly faded glory. A pity, because it seems once been a beautiful recreational lake to be. Nearby are best to do fun things, sometimes you need a bit further away (10-30 km). We were kindly received and were given a tour of the house and garden with fruit trees and there was a bottle of Rosé for us. Very welcoming. If you have questions about something, you can always go with them, anything is possible. Very friendly and helpful owners!

Sandra and Dennis are the most welcoming hosts in a very beautiful part of France. We very much enjoyed spending an evening getting to know them over a couple of bottles of red wine...we'll definitely be back!! We had a very relaxing stay in their cozy gite with comfortable beds and I couldn't believe my luck when I saw the bath. In summer with access to the lovely lake across the road, this place is unbeatable!

The home of Sandra and Denis was perfect! And their little house in the charming village of Lanquais was ideal for the 2 days we spent in the region. We especially appreciated the responsiveness of our hosts before we arrived, their attention, their flexibility and their responses to our requests. And above all, their big smiles on our arrival! We highly recommend this accommodation!

A lovely location and equally lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome. Perfect location for exploring the Dordogne area. Within 10 minutes driving distance to the village of Lilande, 5minute walk to the local bistro, 2 minute walk to a lovely little lake and a chateau to explore on top of everything. The house itself is perfect for a small family / couple - modern (WiFi yes!) clean,tidy, full of the expected amenities and has a lovely little area outside for an evening aperitif. Would definitely recommend.

Sandra and Denis are very welcoming and reagents in both pre-mail exchanges, and to meet our demands there. They did everything to make our stay enjoyable, as was the case! The cottage is very well equipped. Air conditioning, wifi and the small pool above ground are significant. Note that the lake drained and unfortunately is Lanquais closed since June 2015 for at least 2 years. The second bedroom is just enough to sleep (small blind). The cottage is well located as a base for touring the area between Bergerac and Sarlat. Thank you for a lovely stay.

What a nice place! Peaceful and welcoming. The lodge is very well equipped and well located (near the Dordogne, near the fish lift) advise address!

We were welcomed on arrival by Jonathon who showed us everything in the Lodge. The description of the Lodge was accurate and it was a very comfortable place to stay. Set back it was lovely and quiet and an ideal place for exploring in the car.

The house of Oira is very nice spacious and well equipée.Nous had a quiet stay with wonderful views of the Dordogne! The jacuzzi is also very valuable! I highly recommend this property more Oira and her husband are very friendly, the home is perfect!

We stayed at the lodge for a week - and as soon as we walked in, we knew we'd found somewhere special. The lodge is really comfortable and has everything you could need for a self catering stay. Oira & Jon kindly loaned us some bikes and we enjoyed our ride alongside the canal. The hot tub is a great way to end the day. We used the lodge as a base to visit various sites and villages. There is an excellent supermarket about 10 minutes away - just watch out if you're arriving from the UK in the evening as most supermarkets close at around 8pm. Thanks to Oira & Jon for such a great stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Oak Lodge. It was just as pictured if not better. It was so peaceful being right at the river. The kitchen was very nice. Oira was very responsive to our different questions and provided many great recommendations. We loved our visits to the many medieval villages and our kayaking trip down the river. We would highly recommend this location and hope to go back.

We had a very relaxed week at Oak Lodge and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Oira and John are wonderful hosts, reacted fast on e-mails and offered bicycles. The Lodge has everything you need and is well kitted. The hot tube is perfect to relax and watch the stars. Oak Lodge is quite well positioned to discover the Dordogne and the Perigor.

My partner and I stayed with my dad and his partner for a week. For somewhere to spend a lazy week wandering around the Dordogne, you could not ask for much more. When we had an issue Jonathan arranged for someone to sort it straight away.
