  • The host was an awesome man, helping us a lot. We were there to see the northern lights and he was really helpful with his suggestions. The house was super clean and the heating system was great for such that low temperature. Check-in and check-out process was also really easy thanks to the understanding host.

Guesthouse and Sauna cabin in the village of Tärendö in the Arctic of Swedish Lapland. Tärendö is a small village in the junction of Kalix and Tärendö rivers, located less than half an hour from Pajala airport. In summer we have the midnight sun and in winter possibility to see northern light. The village has a foodstore, gasstation and crosscountry track. Aktivities like meet reindeers, snowmobile rental and huskytours can be arranged.
The Guesthouse has untouched wilderness just outside the door. The house is on a "dead end" road in the winter, which means that traffic is kept to a minimum. The kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped and has running cold and warm water, the bedroom has two 80 centimeter beds that easily can be put together to make a Queen size bed and the main room has an 80 centimeter bed. The house and the wood fired sauna cabin with its relax area are just meters from each other and close to my house. Outside is a lavvu (the old type of the sami house)
  • Brigitta and her Airbnb is one of the best I've seen in the last 2 years. I am glad that I booked it, she was very flexible with time since we had a long travel to her airbnb, and we were greeted with a hot sauna. Thank you!

    Patrick2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Birgitta's lovely guesthouse with the wood - fired sauna. In the real swedish winter wonderland we enjoyed the silence and the beauty of nature. And thank you Birgitta so much for your warm welcome.

  • This home is beautiful. I would say it looks even better in real life than it already does in the pictures. The check-in was super easy and fast as well as the check-out. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need (if you decide to cook at home). The interior is very cozy and really gives you a “home away from home” feeling. + VERY comfy beds. We will be back!

    Serena2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Birgitta's cabin is beautiful, quiet, private... It's my happy place. This is the second time I've been there and I plan on going back as long as she rents it out. Birgitta herself is so kind and generous; she'll take care of you well.

  • Our stay was just perfect at Birgitta. Its guest house is cozy, with the stove, the sauna, as shown in the photos. Both in the forest and close to the village. Very well located, easy to access. We warmly recommend !! We hope to return to this little corner of paradise. Thank you Birgitta for your welcome.

A room in our beautiful and comfortable extra home in the small village Junosuando. The perfect place for anyone looking for a quiet break with optimal chances for experiencing Northern Lights, midnight sun and outdoor pursuits in Lapland.
A room with one double bed. The room is one of ten bedrooms in the house. There are two shared shower rooms and three shared WC. The house is big and spacious with hardwood floors and some timber walls revealed. It was originally the vicarage in the village.
The house is located in the middle of the village Junosuando. Junosuando is a quiet village with about 375 inhabitants. From December to March there are about 15 kilometres of prepared cross-country skiing trails around the village. In the summer you can enjoy swimming in the lake (about 2 km from house). There is a small but well-stocked grocery shop (500 m from the house, open M-F 9-18, Sat 9-13), a public swimming pool and sauna (open M, W and F evenings Sept-May, closed over the summer).
  • Good location and accommodations for our tour through northern Scandinavia. Watch out for reindeer on local roads.

  • We had a really good quick stay at Maya and Mikael's place. The communication was super smooth. The check in was a breeze. The beds are comfy and we had a great night sleep. The kitchen is downstairs and it has all the amenities for a good meal. All and all, highly recommended.

  • Nice and easy place to stay and rest. There is all you need. And quite good pizzeria just 50m away :)

  • Absolutely loved this place! Such a lovely house, cozy rooms and sitting areas in basically every corner! Well equipped kitchen, clean bathrooms! You really find everything you need there and the village is surrounded by beautiful nature. Checking in/out was very uncomplicated and the hosts make you feel welcome and are very kind and willing to help. If you want to get away from the busyness of life for a few days or if you're just passing through on your way- this is the place to stay!

    Friederike2019-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks, Maya and Mikael, for the wonderful time at your guesthouse. We absolutely loved everything about our week in Junosuando and will be happy to recommend a stay at your place to our friends and family!

    Elisabeth2019-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Mikael has been very caring with us: he has written to us several times to make sure we get to the right place. he was not looking at our arrival or departure time. the little extra: he lent us his equipment to go fishing and we managed to catch a fish! an activity that could cost between 50 and 75 € that we could do for free! otherwise the room was ok. Common areas very large, with plenty of room for all tenants.

    May2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Maya & Mikael’s place was the most wonderful experience. The house is huge and very cozy. When you walk outside you’re surrounded by beautiful nature and there are loads of nice ski/snowmobile/walking trails. I had the chance to see the Northern Lights on the river right in front of the house. The communication was flawless and the house was very clean. Maya and Mikael are both wonderful, as well are their kids. Highly recommanded!

    Roos2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very pleasant stay. The guesthouse is spacious and cosy at the same time. Everything is done to make you feel at ease. Definitely recommend it!

The log cabin is located just a stones throw from the Torne river, with miles of untouched wilderness and total silence around the corner. During your stay you also have access to the wood fired sauna with an open fire relax area, where you can also cook an open fire dinner. The cabin is great for up to five guests, but can fit six. Five pairs of snow shoes and three kick sleds (one child sized) is included with the cabin. Winter clothes and other activites are available for a fee.
The log cabin was built in the 1990's and is very well kept. The inside is largely finished in traditional pine wood panelling and we've tried our best to make it feel just like home. For evening entertainment (if you don't want to be outside) there's is good wifi access, a flat screen tv with an Apple TV connected to it as well as a rechargable bluetooth speaker that can also be used in the relax area of the sauna.
We are about a 20 minute drive from Junosuando, where there's a grocery store, cinema and pub.
  • We spent two wonderfully quiet days in Hans Hütte. In the middle of the snowy winter wonderland (the last 14km "road" can be a bit exhausting with new snow), it offered the perfect mix of the latest technology (Netflix, Spotify, Flat Screen) and the original (sauna house, fireplace, snowshoes). Simply wonderful!

    Christina2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • If you like being lost in the nature, this cabin is perfect! Very comfortable, clean and well furnished. There's no shower but toilet and running water are inside the cabin. You can use the sauna as you wish and the snowshoes are also very useful!

    Boris2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, beautiful house. Lots of privacy, but if they need Hans, he is there.

    Rolf2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had the perfect winter escape in this cozy cabin. Clean, comfortable, with all 'modern life' necessities but still maintaining a genuine rural atmosphere. We spent most of our time snow trecking the local area (using the snow shoes provided) it was absolutely amazing! Coming back to the log fired sauna and log fire cabin was as magical as it was relaxing for the body and mind. Would absolutely recommend to anybody looking for an escape into the wilderness, we look forward to returning again ourselves!

    Jamie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a week in Hans's lodge with my dog. The perfect place to relax. Secluded and calm. Wonderful ways to walk.

    Mathias2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what we were looking for - a cozy cabin to relax and recharge after the holidays! We enjoyed being able to use the sauna every day, which we needed after husky sledding and ice fishing! Hans was super accomodating and knowledgeable, helping us out with tips for things to do (and driving!) and sharing a lot of interesting history and information about the area. Would definitely go back!

    Lisa2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a week over new years eve in Hans cozy cottage. The house is apart from a shower well equippt and with the oven in the living room we had some nice evenings. The use of the Sauna was also an absolutely highlight, especially the oportunity to cool down in snow thereafter and seeing the northern lights. The place is good if you like to spend a few days in quiet and lonely surroundings in the unique landscape of Lappland. Hans is a helpful, friendly and open minded host.

    Lars2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved the cabin. Its warm and cozy. It has everything you need. The silence and nature around it where amazing. Communication with Hans very easy. We will come back! Thank you Hans.

  • We spent a great week at Rolf's place! It is very remote, perfect for a nice nature getaway and for northern lights viewing! Rolf was super helpful with tips, making paths with his snowmobile around the house and river so we could hike, lending us some gear and helping us booking a dog sledding tour, on top of allowing us to rent snowshoes for the whole group! The sauna is great after a day out in the snow, and the house is cosy and nice! Be ready to be far from civilization though, as it is quite remote... But we loved it just for that! We spent an amazing week!

    Bertrand2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Rolf's house is lovely and in a beautiful quiet area. Rolf was there to meet us when we arrived and show us through the house. We would have loved to stay for longer and would happily stay there again.

  • This trip was a truly outstanding experience for my friends and me. We spend New Years at Rolfs cottage in Lappland and experienced everything we could wish for. From northern lights over astonishing sunsets, the beautiful colors of the sky and the local wildlife, everything was there. The cottage itself has more than enough space and is well equipped. Another good thing about the cottage is the central heating so you can always look forward to return to a cozy place. Although landscape and cabin are very nice, the truly outstanding thing about the place are the hosts. Rolf and his wife showed us a very warm welcome with campfire, coffee and a snowmobile tour. They also were always up for a nice chat and provided valuable tips about the surroundings. I hope to return there in summer :)

The best place to relax and have an adventure in Lapland! Front of the house is Lainio river that is popular for salmon fishing and back of the house is a beautifull hill that in the winter is perfect for tobogganing. Woodheated sauna on the backyard, test your courage and take a dip in the snow! Excellent possibilities to spot the northern lights, take a snowmobile safari or a huskyride or just relax infront of the fire place. A little paradise on earth!
In the village it´s posibble to book a snowmobile safari, husky ride, snowshoe trip or ice fishing tour. The nearest store is five minute walk from the house. Nearest pub is 20 minute walk. Nearest town is Pajala, 70 kilometers. Nearest skicenter Ylläs in Finland 140 km. Nearest airport is Kiruna, 140 km. In Kiruna there is also the famous Jukkasjärvi icehotel, totally worth a visit and possibility to go shopping.

In the heart of Lapland, near fantastic fishing/ice fishing, rivers, forests, snowmobile tracks, skiing, this lovely house built 1929 is easily accessible. An hour from Kiruna airport. You can see the Aurora borealis from the house. Your own snowshoe/x country ski trail starts at your doorstep. Suitable for couples, families (not child-prooved) or bring a friend. Basic breakfast included. Available rentals: snowshoes, crosscountry skis, kayaks. Guided snowmobile tours.
Great base for year-round stays in Lapland. Explore the forests, mountains, lakes and rivers. Fishing permits (year-round) and ice-fishing equipment available at additional charge. Very good pike-fishing in lakes. Trout and salmon in Kalix River. Guided tours on foot, by car or snowmobile (early December to late April) also available. Don't miss our late evening snowmobile tour. We go into the forest, make a fire and hopefully see the Aurora. Or rent snowshoes, the trail starts right behind the house. From December to early March we arrange a reindeer tour, you get to meet reindeer at a feeding station. All tours cost extra and are exclusive to you and your family/friends. The guide is local. Full breakfast package options available at extra cost; book at least 2 days in advance. Also gluten-free, lactose-free or vegetarian. Basic/continental breakfast included. Free coffee and tea.
Perfect base for exploring the wilderness. See the Aurora borealis from your doorstep (when the weather is right for it to show). Although close to a road, a five minute walk will take you into the forest where you can walk a whole day without meeting a single person
  • I stayed here for 10 days and had a wonderful stay in the snow cabin. I found everything I needed and woke up very rested every morning. Cecilia and Rickhard are wonderful people, very helpful and I am happy to have met them. The house is a bit older, not a sterile hotel room and therefore has charm. Everything was clean, warm, sheets and towels smelled good, there was a shower with really hot water and a fireplace with free firewood. The WLAN also works amazingly well here. A snowshoe path starts right at the house, from which the Aurora can be easily observed. There is a lot of wildlife to discover in the area. I saw a lot of moose and reindeer. I drove over 2500 kilometers through Lapland and would recommend a visit the Stora Sjöfallets Nationalpark. The nearest shops can be found in Vittangi or Junosuando, there is a petrol station in Vittangi, both about 20 minutes drive away. You should definitely go on a tour with Rickhard, he knows a lot about the area and is such a warm person. If you need warm clothes, you can borrow them in the snow cabin or buy them in the souvenir shop at the cabin. At the beginning of March I had temperatures down to minus 24 degrees, but I never froze with the right clothes. I would definitely recommend a stay in the Snow Cabin and hope to be able to come back soon.

  • Richkard and Cecilia's place is really nice. Host met us in person and is very friendly, generous and warm. He spend good time with us and showed us around the village. • Cecilias house was very clean and super pretty. She already turned on the heating before we arrived so it was really cosy when we got in there. Also she offers great activities and you are only one footstep away from the beautiful lappland nature. We also were able to see the northern lights by just stepping into the backyard. She is a really good host.

  • Wonderful : the house, the village, the area, the forest around and of course the hospitality. Perfect location in the heart of Lapland to enjoy the beauty of nature. Reasonable driving distance to main attractions in Swedish Lapland. We have even been several times to Finland and Norway. It cannot be better.

A room in our beautiful and comfortable extra home in the small village Junosuando. The perfect place for anyone looking for a quiet break with optimal chances for experiencing Northern Lights, midnight sun and outdoor pursuits in Lapland.
A small but cosy room with a double bed for a single person or a couple. Compact bathroom attached to room. The room is one of ten bedrooms in the house.
From the house there is a great view to the north over the River Torne. In the summer you can watch the midnight sun moving across the sky above the river. In autumn and winter the sky provides a dark and open backdrop in case the Northern Lights appear.
  • Maya and Mikael are kind hosts who will answer all your questions quickly and help you settle in to start your experience in Junosuando. Our room was beatifully furnished and the house in general fits the northern swedish landscape perfectly. Around town you can easily discover the surrounding nature by foot, if you don't own a car. We highly recommend to book a time during winter, since 3 hours of daylight, a frozen moor landscape and the chance to see northern lights are not to be missed!

  • My husband and i(with our 6 month old) stayed 1 night at Maya and Mikael's. The room was comfortable and clean! House was very large and charming. Thanks for a great stay!

  • The house, a former rectory, was very pitoresque and worth a visit in itself. Maya and Mikael was very welcoming, helpful and gave me lot of privacy. The last two days I had the whole house all for myself - and at one point it felt like I lived there. I'm so grateful for this stay!

  • Great place. For us it was a stop over. But you could really spend some nights here. Very friendly staff. Charming house.

    Et2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • On our arrival, Mikael took us for a walk inside the huge house. It was super good to stay there, highly recomended for watching northern light. We were so lucky to catch the northern light show in the sky during our stay. There are complimentary tea and biscuit, which is quiet good for refreshing. Mikael and Maya are very friendly and kind-hearted. Before we left the house, we tried to play with their sleighs, quite fun. However we missed the chance to say goodbye after returning from sleighing cos we didnt meet again afterwards before our departure. But we will definitely come again if next time we choose to travel through this area. ThanQ very much Maya and Mikael. Hope to see you again.

  • Both Maya and Mikael are exceptionally nice people and the guesthouse is very nice and comfortable. They let me know when to look for the aurora! I would definitely come back.

Downstairs is a spacious kitchen, family room, laundry room and bathroom with shower. There is also an outdoor timber sauna . The house sits on the village's highest position.
Beautiful view, calm and quiet and close to nature and the big Torne river.
  • The house is really cosy and warm, we had a wonderful winter holiday in the middle of the snow. We had the luck to see the northern lights several times - an absolute dream. The receiving was very friendly and we were welcomed with a delicious meal.

  • We spent a wonderful 10 days in this cabin in the febuary cold. We saw northern lights in varying intensity almost every night. We really appreciated having the sauna after a long day in the snow. Reindeers were grazing around the house and we spotted two moose crossing the village road. We visited many surrounding towns for various activities and had a great time. The days are short but the low golden sunlight makes the snowy landscapes shimmer and glisten and it looks truly magical. The host Lasse was very nice and showed us how to use everything in the house as well as gave us tips and pointers on what to do in the area. He kept checking on us in case anything would go wrong, which it didn’t but the gesture made us feel safer. 100% would recommend!

  • We liked our stay in this house

    Bartosz2019-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place! We were there in the summer so the property does not look the same but it was peaceful and comfortable. Most importantly, our hosts were so nice. Lasse came to meet us on the main road to lead us to the cottage, and Eva had a salmon dinner (fresh caught) when we arrived. Throughout our stay Eva was extremely accommodating, and we enjoyed visiting with her and learning about Lappland. We were there to visit friends in Pajala and attend the Market. We would come back, not just for the accommodations but for the fellowship!
