Castle
“The castle was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century from indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures. The finished structure was surrounded by a moat. It belonged to the Genoese Embriaco family, whose members were the Lords of Gibelet. Saladin captured the town and castle in 1188 and partially dismantled the walls in 1190. Later, the Crusaders recaptured Byblos and rebuilt the fortifications of the castle in 1197. In 1369, the castle had to fend off an attack from Cypriot vessels from Famagusta. The Byblos Castle has distinguished historical buildings for neighbors. Nearby stand a few Egyptian temples, the Phoenician royal necropolis and the Roman amphitheatre.”

“Revamped into its original ancient Phoenician time, walking through the Old Souk is like stepping back into all the history accounts of the forever rising Phoenix, stepping back in time, yet in modernity. Images of history books come alive under your feet & through your eyes.”

“Privately owned and operated beach resort. You need to pay an entrance fee (not so cheap!!) but you will get access to several swimming pools and a sandy beach front. You can eat at their restaurants while there. It's a real nice view to the Mediterranean sea from the restaurant.”

“Up the mountain of Jabal Moussa ( Mount Moussa) is a nice Cozy hidden lake surrounded by the beauty of the Lebanese nature. You are gonna have to go on a 45 mins hike to reach the Lake but I bet you it's worth the short hike. Don't forget your swim suit.”

City
“Nice spot for fish dishes, city in which you have the sea coast of the méditera sea. You will appreciate the old souk and the byblos wax museum. Nice restaurant and sea view. Visit Saint John-Marc Cathedral. You will also relax by the Byblos, walking by the Byblos Harbour is a serene experience. Enjoy a meal by the sea: It’s not enough to simply walk by the sea – experiencing the local cuisine while admiring the water is an essential part of the Byblos experience. Restaurants like Bab El Mina, known for their wide selection of seafood, and Cafe Tournesol in the Byblos Sur Mer hotel are perfect places to relax after a day of walking around the ancient city. Do it all again at night If you’ve seen all of Byblos by day, it doesn’t mean you’ll be greeted by the same city by night! All of the streets transform come evening and take on a different vibe and meaning. The lunch place at noon becomes a lively pub at night, music sounds through the old cobblestone streets and people come from all over to take in the atmosphere. The same historical monuments become all the more towering and awe-inspiring, churches feel that much more intense and the ruins much larger. Taken from theculturetrip.com ”
