  • A beautiful rainforest retreat near Herberton. Modern cottage with washing machine, air conditioning and bbq/ verandah. Secluded private space at the back of hosts property with large windows that make you feel like you are among the trees. Very kind and helpful hosts.

  • Have stayed at Jane’s several times and love it. Very homely quiet and comfy. Highly recommend.

  • A wonderful place for couples to stay. Everything was immaculate and surprisingly modern. One tip re dining out. Most places in town are closed by 6pm, including the supermarket (at least when we were there - October 2019). The Royal Hotel, however, is open every evening for meals except Sunday and Monday. We were told we could get a meal at The Australian (next door, same management) on the Sunday evening but all that was offered was frozen take-away. This may change as the new management has big plans. Be sure to check out the Lollie shop run by Karen, and the delightful retro cafe, Jacaranda. A step back in time.

  • Idriess Cottage is the most fabulous place to stay for a single or couple, we just wish we had stayed longer. It is very well appointed, private and the breakfast provisions were a very welcome addition. Nothing else is needed here and it is close to all Atherton Tablelands attractions or you can just spend your time lazing on the verandah or light a cosy fire. We would recommend it to everyone .. a must for your Atheron stay.

A cosy self contained cottage in the Atherton Tablelands. No neighbours for 400 meters. Enjoy the peace and quiet, abundant wildlife and various walking tracks on our 20ha property adjacent to World Heritage Forest. A great central place to explore the beautiful Tablelands. Most guests wished they could have stayed longer so consider to stay an extra night.
A very comfortable self contained cottage on our 20ha property in the Atherton Tablelands. The property is a gazetted Nature Refuge under legislation so wild life is abundant with wallabies, possums and many birds coming close to the cottage. The cottage is away from any main roads and 400 meters from our house that is located further up in the forest.
Our local village Herberton, offers Pubs, Take Aways and Cafes as well as a convenience store. The Herberton Historic Village is a main attraction and there is a Mining, Railway and Spy Camera museum. There are many day trips to National Parks, Waterfalls, Small Villages, The Coast, The Outback and Scenic Touring. We have a large variety of brochures of all local attractions in our surroundings and are happy to give suggestions.
  • Peaceful cabin with all that you need for a stress free break. Easy to just relax on the back deck in the afternoon , perfect place on the stormy afternoon I was there.

  • I had a beautiful weekend away in this relaxing hideaway. It’s exactly what anybody looking for some peace, quiet and nature is after. The cottage has everything you need and the photos don’t do it justice. No brainer - book now.

Loved the hot bath and shower in the garden. There is a shower inside also The climate so cool even in the middle of summer so slept well in the king size bed. Beautiful green country setting. Great outside lounge area to sit and relax. Also an undercover outside dining table area. Overall a wonderful place to stay and relax. Will be back. Thank you Jannie

My cottage is cosy & fairly basic & homely. I love the verandah where the butcher birds & Lorikeets come for a daily feed. At the end of the street is state forest, great tracks for long walks/runs thru the hills. The living space is a good size.
My verandah really makes the place it has a lovely veiw out over the gully & tops of the trees & the local birds come in. A tranquil place to chill out
This is a very friendly tight knit community & neighbourhood, which is semi rural with nature on the doorstep
  • You won’t find a more generous and considerate host than Tracie. She’s also very knowledgeable about the area, its flora and fauna. Highly recommended!

    Daniel2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tracie’s place is an amazing home. Right next to the forest surrounded with pure nature. So different to wake up for the sound of nature. Loved the terrace in the morning, looking at the birds flying around and stopping by... The house is also walking distance to the town center, however I was driving. Easy parking very safe neighborhood. Tracia is a great host and a pleasure to chat with her. Thank you for welcoming me again!

    Anett2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay! Short drive/walk into Herberton CBD, but also within walking distance of forest trails. Tracie is an incredibly kind host and had great local knowledge. The house is clean and neat and had everything I needed. There is a veranda with a beautiful view over the garden and lots of visiting birds- could hand feed butcher’s birds from there. Short drive to great places to see tree kangaroos and other wildlife. Recommend.

    Anna2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tracie was an excellent host, and the accommodation in her cottage was also excellent and met my needs perfectly. I certainly recommend her place for anyone travelling in the Herberton area and for anyone who is interested in seeing birds up close.

    Bill2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tracie is a delightful warm, friendly, easygoing host who made me feel most welcome. The house is in a quiet, safe neighborhood, only a few minutes walk from the small town of Herberton, and a short drive to explore fantastic waterfalls, rain forest, lakes, and drier areas, plus walks not far from her home. With experience as a tour guide of the area, Tracie knows all the best places to visit! The house and room were clean, the bed comfortable, space to be independent, with veranda to sit, overlooking her organic veggie garden, listening to and watching the many local birds.

Usnea, our Nature, Art and Accommodation Space, is situated on the Evelyn Tablelands, Tropical North Qld. It is a fully self-contained one bedroom cottage in upland rainforest, surrounded by natural and established gardens, and at 1,160m provides a cool summer and cosy winter retreat. Uniquely the cottage integrates art within and outside. Contemplation, inspiration, privacy and comfort, are all to be experienced, along with exploring our forest and local environmental and historical features.
Usnea is a lichen that is very sensitive to air pollution and so is only found growing in clean air environments. Because it is abundant on our property we thought it an appropriate name for our nature, art and accommodation space. The Natural Space Our 61 acre property was purchased by us, Ben and Joan, in 1978 with the primary purpose of protecting important high altitude (1,160m) rainforest and its inhabitants. A diversity of plants and wildlife reside along this mountain range, the Hugh Nelson Range, which adjoins the large and complex Herberton Range National Park, a Wet Tropics World Heritage Area (WTWHA). We have a number of well established walking tracks on the property, the highlight of which is the Waterfall Track. The Residential Space We are the sole occupants of the property and so it comprises of a discrete residential area built within the confines of an historically altered section of the forest in order to minimise forest clearing. The forest surrounding the residential area is intact. As well as the main home, there are a number of separate buildings including an art studio, study/office, and outdoor living pavilion. A number of landscaped ‘garden’ spaces using both natural forest features and constructed elements are integrated throughout this residential space. The Guest Cottage Space The guest cottage is a discretely separate, independent, private accommodation dwelling incorporating outdoor and indoor constructed spaces. Outdoor Living Space A timber deck, white rhyolite gravelled court yard, timber screens and potted plants provides an attractive, private garden entrance to the cottage. The easily accessible outdoor timber deck area offers undercover access to the guest cottage as well as the laundry/storeroom, the BBQ area, and an open and comfortable space for the table and chairs. Laundry/Storeroom A covered, deck-connected entrance to this separate side room provides for ease of access. It is primarily a utilities and storeroom. Open Inside Living Space Glass sliding doors open to this inside space from the timber deck creating a continuous indoor-outdoor connection. It contains a lounge, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. A small library containing a variety of books, and a diverse selection of music CDs should provide adequate reading and music material for the length of your stay. A small pantry of essential and not-so-essential items (tea, coffee, oil, salt, pepper, and more) is there to compliment your own supply of food and drinks. Breakfast provisions are also supplied and include bread, butter, jams, honey, milk, yoghurt, cereals, nuts, fruit and eggs. Subject to seasonal and local availability, breakfast and pantry provisions are predominantly organic and biodynamic products. Bedroom & Bathroom This is a one bedroom guest cottage available for use by two people only. It accommodates a king size bed or two single beds - please let us know which arrangement you prefer. All bed linen and pillows are supplied. A walk-in storage space provides adequate room for your luggage and personal clothing. The flat screen TV is for viewing movies only, a selection of which is available for you to choose from. The bathroom has a separate entrance for access from the open inside living space and bedroom. Towels and essential toiletries are supplied. Extra linen, towels and toiletries are also supplied.
This property is located in a rural residential area and so neighbouring properties vary from large rural enterprises to those engaged in smaller multiple farming activities, and importantly large conservation estates such as the WTWHA, and smaller private ones such as ours. There are no immediate residents nor buildings other than what is within our own small residential complex.
  • If your looking for a quiet relaxing peaceful chilled out time away or you just want to escape the summer heat and humidity I highly recommend this beautiful cottage. Hosts Ben & Joan are beautiful and very welcoming. The cottage and surroundings are kept in absolutely immaculate condition. Recommend a minimum stay of 2 nights to take in all it has to offer . Definitely love to return in future.

    Belinda2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed at a few places in the Tablelands and will always come back to Usnea when I can, it is situated in a rain-forest that was small-car accessible in Evelyn. The accommodation itself is a wonderful modern wooden bungalow surrounded by rain-forest, the host is generous and provides everything you could need if you do not wish to leave, if you do wish to leave there are many nearby national park hiking tracks, Mount Hypipamee, as well as incredibly peaceful private walking track that Ben has lovingly built and maintains. If you need a town/shops you can take a short drive to Ravenshoe or Atherton, I cannot recommend this location enough, a perfect base-camp to explore the tablelands and kind knowledgeable hosts who were happy to make themselves available to complement it.

    Tim2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Usnea is an amazing space that offers the perfect setting to recharge and relax on a unique and lovingly crafted property. The living space is cozy and stylish, and Ben and Joan's hospitality makes you feel completely at home. I would recommend staying more than one night so you have the time to enjoy the beauty and tranquility the space and property have to offer - the perfect getaway. We will be back!

    Sarah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most lovely night's stays at Usnea. The house exceeded all expectations! It is stylishly decorated with great attention to detail and in stunning rain forest. Ben and Joan are great hosts, very knowledgeable about the rainforest and keen to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to return soon.

    James2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and the accommodation was immaculate and the Ben and Joan were number one! Loved it!

    Glenn2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I begin! Ben and Joan's place is a little slice of heaven. Beautiful surrounds with the rainforest and garden which connects to the ambience of the accommodation itself. Ben and Joan really went out of their way to provide us with a memorable experience, one night is not enough. Very clean, quiet and relaxing with lots of extra touches, we had more than what we expected. Thank you Ben and Joan, we shall be back.

    Loani2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place Ben & Joan have created is magical. We were so so positively surprised when we arrived and saw this beautiful and peaceful place on earth. The hosts are more then lovely people. Ben took us on a lovely rainforest walk and Joan makes sure you have everything you need. All the little treats were amazing for us to settle in. If you are in the rainforest and looking for a true experience this place is a must.

My place is situated closely to Herberton (13km distance) and Atherton (30km distance). Day tours to the rainforests with creeks and waterfalls, to the ocean and even to the closer outback are easily possible. We have lovely views over the fields, hills and trees. Especially birds, can be observed on a regular base. But we can see as well agile wallabies, bettongs, tree kangaroo's, monitors and other marsupials and reptiles. I do speak German as well- coming originally from Germany.
The house is peacefully nestled between fields and tree's on a 3 acre block. At the front is a lovely meditation, yoga and treatment room - the hobbit hole. At the rear end of the house is a big veranda with tables and chairs and a comfortable sofa for your convenience.
It is a quite area. The neighbours can't be seen from my place. But they are close by and very helpful if ever needed.
  • A beautiful little house in nowhere Sitting on the veranda one could spend days, visit comes over again and again: Various birds, wallabys, butterflies Leaves rustle Oh and a big spider - my Australian son-in-law - just a Huntsman

  • Viola is a wonderful host. Her location is beautiful. Highly recommend her BnB.

    Wendell2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome, had the place almost to ourselves, we delved into a peaceful world for a night and woke to the bird songs. The place has all you need to cover your basic needs comfortably, is just beautiful with a personal touch wherever you put your eyes. We highly recommend and will go back when the occasion arises.

    Monika2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space if you are wanting peace and quiet and 'time out' from a busy life. Highly recommend the space and Viola was a wonderful hostess

    Cheryll2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Viola's house: beautiful house & surroundings, peaceful and quiet, lots of privacy, and friendly chickens and betongs, also shy wallabies. Viola is very helpful and friendly, and has a lot of good local knowledge and sightseeing tips. We really felt at home here. Thanks!

    Tamy2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful quiet location to get away from the bustle and lots of wildlife

    Murray2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Viola is a warm & thoughtful hostess. Her colourful home reflects her artistic spirit & she loves to share her passion for wildlife with guests. We really enjoyed the warm fire she lit & watching the bettongs (really cute little marsupials) through the glass door. Our bedroom was comfortable & her home is in a very quiet rural setting.

    Annette2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Viola's accommodation is nestled in the beautiful nature of the Atherton Tablelands. On the large property you can see many different animals and in the evening when you watch the betongs (super sweet, small Kangorooart) while eating in front of the terrace or sitting in front of the burning stove, you can switch off very well. We talked very well and extensively with Viola, she is with her cheerful, young at heart kind of something very special. Would like to stay there longer.

  • Beautiful home - awesome kitchen, coffee maker, gorgeous retro decor with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Quiet, yet centrally located. You’ll hear birdsong by day and the Curlews at night. An excellent base for exploring the Tablelands region. Really felt like a home away from home. Thank you Collette. Highly recommended! :)

Old Mates Pioneers Hut is on the Atherton Tablelands on a working farm. The farm runs cattle, goats, pigs, sheep, buffalo, chicken, ducks, horses and dogs. The farm is also a camping facility with trails for riding & walking. Outdoor fire (subject to conditions). Bike riding, horse riding, nature walks. Permanent running creek with refreshing swimming holes. Off grid 12 volt power system with battery storage. This runs lights, fridge, water pump, fans and USB ports for electronic devices.
This hut takes inspiration from the traditional "Shepherds Hut" of yesteryear. These were used by farmers to keep close to their herds and flocks and ensure their well being and keep predators at bay. The hut can sleep 4 people comfortably and another on the day bed if required. Very clean, and private shared toilet and spacious hot shower facilities ($2 coin per 6 minutes) within 20 meters. People love the "Loo with a View" looking out over the rain forest. There is a fridge, 2 burner gas cook top, sink with hot & cold water. Out side there is a gas BBQ, table, 4 chairs and esky/chill box. There is an outdoor fire place. Firewood $30 per 50kg. Mobile phone access is available on the property, but is weak in the Pioneers Hut.
  • Tony went out of his way to make our stay with our horses and smooth as possible. Great spot to ride your horses.

    Ursula2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Farm animals were a highlight but Old Mates Farm offers so much more for a experiential stay. Love the environment of the hillside forested property. Tony is a great builder, adds style to the barn, huts and amenities, cares for his property. Toilets were their own experience being ‘room with a view’. Kids enjoyed Pioneer Hut loft bunks, weighted pully door closer, barn games, bush walks, fire pit unaffected by rain. I appreciated the comfort and cleanliness of the hut and amenities.

    Simone2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were so blessed to spend our Christmas tucked away in the trees at Old Mate's Farm. The Pioneer shack is small but by the same token, it was more than enough for our family of 4 (2A+2C). The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove (no oven, but there's a camp oven for the fire provided and a gas BBQ). It has one of the best camp shower + toilet I've ever used, complete with a flush toilet and hot water (at a cost of $2, but free if you can take the cold!!!) Due to the season, the creeks were a bit low for a swim and the cicadas on occasion were quite intense, but overall, these were minor issues for us. We only touched on the many tracks and hikes throughout the property as we were busy visiting the many delicious locations throughout the Tablelands but we will definitely return and explore more at a later date. There is a well-kept hobby farm at the entrance filled with well-loved horses, cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, guinea fowls, ducks and buffalo that we were able to take part in feeding. My 7+3yr olds loved it. It is clear to us that there has been a lot of passion and hard work put in to create this bushland retreat and we cannot wait to see what Tony will be putting in next. Thank you Pete and Deb for your hospitality too.

    Evie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Hello Tony, we loved staying on your property and we are positive we saw a tree kangaroo up behind the toilet block (cool). Although we feed the animals on our first night my 16-year-old boy insisted we were back in time to do it again on our second night. My 17-year-old loved building the fire outside the hut.

    Michelle2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly worth a visit! The kids had an absolute ball feeding the animals and running around the farm. 100% will be bring the family back.

    Stevie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you need to get away from modern life this is perfect. Tony has done an amazing job setting this up. I’d much rather stay here than the cheapest hotel. Value for money, a great experience.

  • Collette's house was a large charming, funky cottage. It was very clean, well presented and the kitchen was well stocked which made it easy for us to be self contained. The house is central to facilities and was dog friendly which was great for is.

    Sarah2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Collette’s place is a funky little cottage. The interior design was fun and tasteful and the rooms were comfortable. The house is central but quiet with everything you need. We cooked, baked and travelled the area and this was an excellent base.

    Megan2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house, quirky retro styling, we just loved all this beautiful home had to offer. Comfortable and practical with every thing you could possibly need. 2 minute walk to the town centre. Collette provides tourism brochures for every possible activity on the tablelands. It was great to lounge around in the sun room with a coffee and decide what we were going to do for the day. The Atherton IGA is amazing and the friendly locals made for a wonderful hoilday.

    Bernadette2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely comfortable house. We all enjoyed our stay. It was on a main road within walking distance to shops. Traffic noise was not a issue possibly due to the large fence securing the house.

    Nadia2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Collettes place was so convenient to town and all needs. The house was very spacious and suits a family well. The kitchen is extremely well equipted with all you need to cook and basic provisions are plentiful.

    Joy2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely place, ticks all the boxes

    Brad2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Collette was a quick, thoughtful and generous host, providing a charming and very well equipped home with almost everything anyone would need for a long and comfortable stay. Great atmosphere. Spacious home, bedrooms and a huge back yard. Ideal for family groups but not too big for a single person. The kitchen had an amazing amount of extras, with excellent cooking facilities. The property was very easy walking to shops and some good eateries. Easy parking off the street. There was traffic noise at busy times, but it was quiet overnight for sleeping. The location is very central for sightseeing around the Atherton Tableland; and a scenic drive to Cairns and the coast. Highly recommended.

The property consists of approximately 30 acres of grazing land, 30 acres of rainforest and 100 acres of dryer forest bordering on to the Herberton National Park. There are a number of toilets and showers ($2 coin for hot shower) that are shared facilities with other guests. This includes guests staying in the HUTS. We have a number of different farm animals that we feed each afternoon. This includes cattle, sheep, miniature horses, goats, buffalo, chickens, geese, ducks and pigs. We feed the animals each afternoon and welcome our guests to join us. This takes around 30 minutes. All guests must check in before sunset (5.30 in mid winter, 6.30 in mid summer). Atherton is the closest township with supermarkets, fuel stations, pubs, and everything else you may need. It is a 15 minute drive from Old Mates Farm to Atherton. Walking, horse and bike trails through the rainforest and linking into to the Herberton National Park trails. Farm animals with feeding at 4.30pm daily. All welcome. Native animals including (if you are lucky) tree kangaroos, platypus, goanna’s, wallabies and bird species. Arboretum – many tree species identified on the tracks and trails. Horse riding available through our neighbour – Wongabel Stables Pet dogs ok. Must be well socialised and restrained. (Not allowed inside the Hut). 90 minutes from Cairns to Old Mates Farm (either Kuranda Hwy via Mareeba, or Gillies Range via Gordonvale). See map. 15 minutes from Old Mates Farm to Atherton, Yungaburra, Malanda, Herberton. 25 Minutes from Old Mates Farm to Lake Barrine, Lake Eacham, Kauri, Tinaroo Dam, Ravenshoe
The town of Atherton is 15 minutes away and has all the services and facilities guests require.

Luxury accommodation in magnificent tall eucalypt forest. Our large timber pole home comes with abundant wildlife, peace and quiet and plenty to explore on 14ha abutting National Park. A great base to explore a fascinating area.
The home has three levels and is comfortable and fully kitted out with everything you need for a self catering stay. We will provide linen and towels and some basics to get you started but you will need to bring all your food and other consumables. There is the Wondecla Roadhouse 9.4km down the road for basics and a supermarket etc in Herberton about 12.5km away. Be aware that our space is at 1000m altitude so is cool for the tropics - about 5 degrees cooler than Cairns.
This is a lifestyle block area which has been left forested and most blocks along the road are large. Therefore you will not actually see any neighbours unless they happen to be out and about if you walk down the road. This is definitely a place for people who want to "get away from it all".
  • Andrews home is spectacular.... the location, styling, environment, it is very comfortable with so many unique qualities. Loved the fireplace, and open bathrooms. Highly recommended.

    Wendy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Magical forest hideaway. Andrew's place is magical from the minute you enter through the gate down the long driveway to the house. We were blown away by the house and its location in the bush. Andrew was a lovely, friendly host to deal with and gave good information before we arrived. The house is beautifully presented with lots of attention to detail including a lovely fruit bowl for our arrival. There is everything you could possibly want in the kitchen including a coffee pod machine which was very much appreciated. Beds are comfy, pillows are comfy, towels are thick and plush, the spa bath has an outlook to die for. There was so much to do around the location we ran out of time. Which of course means we will have to return. Thanks Andrew (and Eliza) we had a most wonderful Xmas at Aviceda.

    Sue2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly nestled in the bush. Fully private, you feel like you are staying miles from anyone else. Andrew was a great host providing great directions and the house was fully equipped to enable you relax in a beautiful bush setting. Great value for money!

    Carol2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Andrews forest paradise was amazing, the house is beautiful, and on the cold Tablelands nights sitting around the indoor and outdoor fires made it unbeatable, this place is perfect for young children and adults to not be bored at any point, we will definitely be back

    Ben2019-08-26T00:00:00Z

  • If you're staying in Atherton, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The unit is sparkling clean, the bed very comfy and everything works as it should. The garden setting is like stepping into the rainforest. I found it to be peaceful place and just what I needed to prepare for the wedding I attended. Thank you for your hospitality.

The unit is situated on 1 acre exactly 3km from the Atherton township. It is nice and close to town but feels like its out in the bush. The bunkhouse is a fully self contained 25m2 separate building, consisting of A bedroom, full kitchen an outdoor sitting area and bathroom/toilet. The host family lives in the main house on the same block approximately 30m from the bunkhouse. We have children and one friendly small chihuahua who has been raised with children and who loves a pat.
This self contained accommodation is not fancy but , it is very clean, the bed is extremely comfortable and because the guest suite is 30m away from the main house, guests have adequate privacy. The location is very handy the Atherton and other Tablelands attractions.
Atherton Tablelands Situated one hour drive west from Cairns at an altitude of 400 to 1100 metres, the Atherton Tablelands is a treasure trove of natural wonders and gourmet delights. Shaped by volcanic activities, the diversity of this rural landscape is quite impressive, featuring lush mountains, green valleys, sparkling lakes and streams, spectacular waterfalls, endless plains, grassy savannahs and pockets of ancient World Heritage listed rainforest. Here the temperatures and humidity are generally lower, farming thrives and wildlife abounds. Among the rolling hills dairy cattle graze on green pastures and farms grow tea, coffee, nuts, corn, vegetables and flowers for local and export markets. Charming small townships come alive with weekend country markets, these are a fascinating treat with locals sharing their arts, crafts, music and festivities. People who choose to live here are united by community, culture and heritage, their love of nature, and the abundant wildlife.

  • Clean, comfortable and great value for money. The hosts made a big effort to make us feel at home for our three day stay, from all the little extras we didn't expect through to the friendly welcome on arrival. This was a much better experience than a Motel stay and we would absolutely recommend this place if the Atherton area is where you want to stay. Only three minutes to town, a quiet and peaceful location and eager-to-please hosts.

  • Troy’s place just outside of Atherton (a 6 minute drive) is a wonderful little airbnb that provides you with all you need with a comfortable stay. The fully equipped kitchen is spacious and ideal for self catering. We did not need the breakfast that was offered due to other arrangements, but was treated with biscuits, chip and dip and tea, coffee and milk supplies which I thought was incredibly kind and generous. Everything else is just as advertised. I will definitely recommend and stay there myself again. B

  • The lodge is part of the Big 4 campground on the edge of Atherton. It is carefully designed and built as accomodation for people with mobility problems or in wheelchairs as the doors are widened, there is a ramp and all light switches are lower. The lodge is cosy and comfortable offering everything a traveller could need. It is clean to a professional standard. We appreciated the large fridge freezer and clothes drying racks, especially after using the pool.

  • Great Venue for a larger gathering. Short distance to shops and supermarkets. IGA has a fabulous range of Gluten Free products. Pool/Spa was fun and just warm enough to be relaxing as the cool night air came in. Beds really comfortable. Perhaps the 3rd bedroom in the main house could have brighter colours (instead of brown tones) as it's the only one without a garden outlook and felt a bit brown and gloomy and if the wooden blinds are closed even slightly (for privacy) there is not much natural light.. (great if you want to sleep in though!!) but the other bedrooms are lovely and bright with garden outlook. Every where clean. Thank you for a great stay.

    Kirsty2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Helen greeted us immediately on arrival with a warm welcome and advice on navigation of the town and provisions. The house was lovely - more like a home than a retreat. We especially enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and on the BBQ every night, sitting in front of the fireplace for warmth, and playing in the heated pool with spa for enjoyment. The place was perfect for two families with kids, with plenty of room to both spread out and then gather again for meals. The deck with the view of the town was a real treat and our favorite spot. I would highly recommend this retreat!

  • I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Memory Lane. My hosts Jo and Terry were very friendly and hospitable, the accommodation was private, quiet and comfortable as well as being close to the main street and amenities. I woke up to delightful birdsong from the surrounding rainforest garden each morning. It has been a pleasure to stay here.
