Enjoy an escape by the sea in this unique rough-luxe beach shack in the Lake District National Park, and rediscover the simple life on the shores of the Irish Sea. Snug interiors, crashing waves and the starriest of night skies makes this private seaside beach cabin complete with bubbly hot-tub the most inspiring of seaside retreats. **CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - Please be aware that our housekeeper is amazing. Nicola always uses anti-bacterial cleaner and she always disinfects high touch areas**
Combining varnished wooden floors with snug wraps & blankets, bleached clapboard exteriors and an indulgent off-grid charm, Lachra is the epitome of seaside getaways. This unique self-catering beach cabin, popular with couples and mini-mooners in search of a romantic retreat, or a seaside base from which to explore Wainwright's fells, is the perfect place to reconnect with the important things in life. When the sun melts into the Irish Sea in a blaze of orange glory, sip crisp white wine on the decking or in the hot tub after a good days walk, and watch sequinned skies blanket the horizon. Bedrooms and Bathroom The cosy bedroom space in the loft at Lachra boasts a double futon bed adorned with squishy cushions, thick blankets and the finest of linens to ensure a blissful night’s sleep. Downstairs is a cosy twin bedroom with wonderful views over the beach and the sea. The small separate shower-room is perfect for washing off sandy bodies after a day on the beach. Outside Perched on the edge of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and right on the beachfront, Lachra is a mile from the small village of Silecroft where the local pub boasts log fires, a range of real ales and locally sourced food from the Lake District. The beach at Silecroft is one of the finest beaches in the UK; grab a glass of wine, submerge yourself in the hot tub and watch the surfers battle the westerlies or the horse riders as they take to the beach. Lachra's garden is large enough and safe enough for older kids to pitch a tent or two, but not so large that they can't hear you call when it's time for tea! Dogs will love the beach at low tide and are very welcome at Lachra.
Lachra is located on the edge of the Lake District National Park. For breathtaking Autumn colours and mountainous views, drive to the market towns of Coniston (20 mins), Ambleside (45 mins) and Keswick (1 hour). The best steak restaurant in Cumbria is a 2 mile walk away, and the best fish and chips can be found in Haverigg, and eaten overlooking the stunning Duddon Estuary.
  • Lachra was a perfect little getaway for a couple of nights, to escape the real world. Mike and Debs are right to call it a little section of heaven. The views and hottub were fantastic. The cabin itself is so cosy and is also set up with everything you need but close enough to local pubs and shops if you wanted to venture out. The food and wine on arrival was a lovely touch, thank you so much. We would love to come back and visit in the summer months. All our best Tori, Issy and Luce.

  • Lachra was truly a slice of paradise (even in March) the surroundings were lovely and to enjoy this relaxing in the hot tub is truly special. The home was lovely and clean with everything we needed for our stay and more.

  • We loved the location and the quirkiness of the cabin! The hot tub was an amazing experience next to the freezing sea! Our fur baby thoroughly enjoyed it too, we will most definitely look forwards to another stay in the future, this is a stay worth checking out, perfect for a quiet weekend away for two ...

  • We had such a wonderful stay at this little lodge on the beach. It is cosy and warm even when it's blowing a gale outside, and the hot tub is such a treat after a day exploring the beautiful local area. The accommodation is very clean and is a great use of space. It is also very well-stocked and the hosts left Prosecco, sausages and other treats for our arrival! We left feeling relaxed and refreshed and will definitely be back!

  • Mark 's cottage is really nice and cosy. It 's small but with every comfort. It' s situated in a nice area and only a 10 min walk from the local pub. Please take care when stepping out of the front door as you will be on the main road and it can be dangerous. Mark is really good at communicating and you feel you can rely on him if there is a problem. We had a very pleasant stay.

Our roundhouse is on a working farm with Swaledale and Blackfaced sheep and heavy horses (which you can book to ride!) in a beautiful valley in south west Cumbria. It has amazing views, a stream running nearby, is peaceful with good interior facilities. Close to us are a variety of good pub/restaurants (would recommend having a car though). You’ll love our roundhouse, it is unique, cosy, romantic, has a stunning location, and is good for couples, friends, outdoor folk, and we take dogs.
Our personally made beautiful roundhouse (NB new roof November 2016!) is set in an idyllic location in the south west corner of the Lake District National Park on a working farm. The combination of soft wood and circular shape creates a very relaxing place - with the wood burning stove and dined lights it can be both practical (it has full electric and water) and very romantic! It has a lovely big bed for two, if more can sleep 4/5; the kitchen is fully appointed (induction hob, toaster, kettle microwave and fridge!) and sink with hot water. The showers and toilets are outside the Roundhouse only 20m away and immaculately clean. Enjoy!
There are many local amazing things to both see and do. Right on site you have award winning Cumbrian Heavy Horses, where you can ride a magnificent heavy horse, Shires, Clydesdales, and four other pure bred heavy horse breeds. We also have the sheep but they are best as a spectator sport (watching us run around them is very entertaining !!) as well as a myriad of walks, up onto both Black and White Combe and a walk through to Swinside Stone Circle can both be accessed from base. For steam buffs we have the narrow guage line at Muncaster (Ravenglass) to Boot, the L'al Ratty, and the larger steam trains at Haverthwaite, which run between there and the Aquarium. The South Lakes Wildlife Park is 25 mins away and is amazing to see, and there are various museums, and in general, walks galore, with Grizebeck Forest for Mountain Biking, Lakes for kayaking and sailing, gondola steam boats on Lake Windermere, with easy access through to the Central Lakes. Just up the coast from us you have Muncaster Castle with it's Owls and Falconry demonstrations too. So much to do, or you can just chill out!
  • Beautiful quiet base to enjoy and explore the lake district. Everything we could have wanted was there. Annie communicated great with us but we were left to our own devices and had space which was much appreciated Would recommend and will be returning to stay again. Thank you xx

  • We had a wonderful time at Annie's place. The location was BEAUTIFUL and Annie is very accommodating. It is a perfect, cozy place with lovely walks and scenery. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to the Lakes!

    Lea2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolute gem! Beautiful little roundhouse, close to a main road but silent (apart from the odd animal)... lots of chickens, sheep, horses, cats and two beautiful soft collie dogs on site! Annie couldn’t have done any more for us - most accommodating and helpful. The round house was our first experience of glamping and even on some drizzly January days it was very comfortable, warm and dry! We will definitely be back!

3 St Lukes, a very spacious, comfortable terraced property, nestled literally on the edge of the sea in Haverigg, on the western coast of Cumbria. Once arrived, guests can be forgiven for feeling like they are in the middle of tranquil countryside. Lovely garden areas, private parking, a very peaceful environment, and Haverigg Beach just a five minute walk away. Golden sands, a beach cafe, and lovely walks round the sea wall. Great for couples, families and pets, lots of room for the cost.
I think the fact you can stroll down to the beach and be on the dunes in 5 minutes is a unique aspect of this holiday home. It is also a very large old terraced, and so a lot of space is available for couples and families and dogs to all spend quality time together with plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
Haverigg is a small seaside village really with a main street, and 3 St Lukes is situated off this main street. The main street is comprised of terraced properties and pubs and businesses, so you walk past a couple of good pubs and a very good fish and chip shop on the way to the beach. There is also a good beach cafe at Haverigg beach itself.
  • Great place to stay can highly recommend staying there.

Two fabulous places to eat, the King Billy for South African steaks and Da Vinci for a lovely Italian. A memorable stay Thank you Amanda

  • Cheryl was very welcoming and explained where everything was. The room was big and had everything that I needed. The house has a lot of character and has a very relaxed atmosphere. Cheryl was very enthusiastic and provided a lot of tips on what to see and do.

  • You’ll get a lovely welcome by friendly people, into a comfortable and cosy home. The guest bedroom is more than adequate, a really lovely space with the bathroom right next door. There are a number of steps up to the house so not suitable for everyone.

  • An amazing place to stay would recommend it for everyone! Absolutely stunning house and the location is fantastic and it’s more then dog friendly! Would definitely be booking again in the near future! Thank you!

  • A lovely place away from the hustle and bustle that can come with the Lake district. Walks and a beach on the doorstep and easy travelling distance to many other places such as Grizedale and Eskdale. Everything you can need and more in the house with balconies so sit and take the views in with. Loads of space to relax inside. Can't recommend it enough.

    Maddie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed Monday to Friday, extended our stay we enjoyed it that much. House was great, just what we wanted. Walks from property was ideal for ourselves and dogs, we were fortunate to have wonderful weather. Locals friendly and the pubs were accommodating for us all. Thanks, would definitely stay again

    Charlotte2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in March during a storm but we were snug and warm. Really close to the beach which was great for the dogs. Lovely walk around the bay and great fish and chips

    Katy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay, our first experience of an Airbnb and the bar has been set high. Lovely that there was coffee, tea, sugar, milk and also a few other things which was great for our stay and the wine and biscuits left by the hosts was wonderful and thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyed. Our dog Milo also had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the long walk along the beach and the visit to the Ski bar ( which we also enjoyed as the food was excellent). Liz and Dave responded to our questions really quickly and made sure that everything was good for our stay. Most definitely will be visiting again.

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, and location. I love love love the lakes but was wondering if the south is as good as the north...turns out it is equally as good! Fantastic place and we hope to return

    Gordon2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Christmas away from home and we had such a good time. The house was so warm and welcoming when we arrived with lots of little touches left for us - mulled wine and mince pies. There were even some Christmas decorations up. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Haverigg is on the south/west coast of Cumbria and it really is a beautiful part of the Lake District. I should imagine this is a fabulous retreat in the summer months away from the main tourist areas of the Lakes which get so overwhelming busy in the summer. There is a dog friendly pub, a take-away chippy and co-op shop all within walking distance. The beach and lots of walks are on the doorstep. Communication with Liz and Dave was so easy and the locals were very friendly.

    Susan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • At less than 5 minutes’ walk from a huge beach, it was a fabulous location for walking the dog.

Millom is a place like no other,we've never come across somewhere so friendly and with so many amenities. The town is quaint and uncrowded, a far cry from the Lake District tourist traps yet with everything still on your doorstep. Walking around the shoreline of the Duddon Estuary at low tide along the golden sands is completely dreamy. We love enjoying a day in the Lakes and retiring back to our little oasis. Millom has 2 fantastic community theaters, plenty of walkable pubs, great beaches, watersports, a large Tesco and Co-op, takeaways, restaurants, 2 bakeries and more all within minutes of each other. Its well connected to Lancaster and Cumbria via the train. Parking is plentiful and free on street. Wainwrights fell walks, Wordworths beloved estuary, plentiful local history, a great watersports park, dozens of great beaches, horse riding, dogs sleds and so much more.
  • A very cozy stylish rental right in the heart of Millom. Extremely dog friendly with great walks from the doorstep or a convenient base for exploring the southwest lakes. Very easy check in, house is very well equipped for a comfortable stay, in a very friendly part of Cumbria. Excellent value for money - thank you for being an excellent host 👍🏻

  • Owain's place is an amazing find; quirky, cosy, we felt immediately at home and had such a relaxing stay. We loved all the artwork, the log burner, the peace, the thoughtful touches about the place, from the fantastically equipped kitchen to the books and games and extra coats and kindling and we will definitely return. Millom is a friendly, slow-paced place with some wonderful scenery on the doorstep from empty beaches to stone circles and windswept fells. A great place to recharge.

    Clare2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start? Firstly the pictures don't do the place justice! It's much better when you see it in person. It's perfectly located for walks or exploring the lake district. Owain really has thought of everything. He went above and beyond when it came to the little touches and the extras that were included. Check in and out was super easy and the accommodation is cute, cozy and stylish. After freezing cold walks in the nature reserve just 10 mins walk away, we were able to sit round a log fire with a coffee to warm up. The shop is 5 mins walk and it's only about 50 mins to Windermere. For those of you who want to go for somthing to eat out of Millom, we found a fantastic pub called The Black Cock Inn about 15 mins drive away in the village of Broughton! Cannot praise this place enough; Owain is doing a fantastic job!

  • A nice cosy home for a few days away and handy for everything the Lake District has to offer with the added bonus of being near the beach and coast line.

    Graham2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant place in a great location at an exceptional price. Everybody in the area is so friendly and Owain has created a nice little haven which my partner and I will most definitely be coming back to

  • Owains place is definitely recommend, quite a small house yet spacious rooms and cosy. It’s perfect and quiet despite being across the road from a school. On street parking where my car was fine. It’s very clean, tidy and smells good when walking in the house. Nice bathroom and shower and loved the king size bed. Owain was very helpful to my questions and responded quickly. Overall I had a great time here and was more than happy with this Airbnb, I would definitely recommend and return again myself. There is not a lot to do as it’s a small town but it was exactly what I was looking for just to get away for a bit, also his neighbour are very friendly and were only happy to point out some local places.

    Reilly2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this as a last min get away for me and my friend as we wanted to go to the South lakes zoo, this was 35 mins drive away. Everything was better than expected, cute little place, very cosy, warm and comfortable. It's near a tesco and a pub, 15 mins drive into another little town with more pubs. Defo booking again, great value for money and great communication from owain.

I live in a cosy townhouse in the heart of Ulverston. The town is bustling with twice-weekly markets, regular festivals, carnivals and events, and a wonderful nightlife, whilst being perfectly located on the edge of The Lake District. 30 minutes drive from Junction 36 of the M6, or 5 minutes walk from Ulverston station, which is an easy transfer from the West Coast Main Line. The room has a modern double bed, a basic wardrobe with hanging and shelf storage, a bedside table and reading lamp.
Guests have a comfortable and newly furnished room overlooking the town, and The Hoad monument. The nearest pub is about 20 paces away, with over a dozen within a five minute walk. Many have live music, quizzes, and a wide range of local beers on tap. My kitchen/diner and living room are available for your use, and you can make yourself at home with these.
The Hoad monument is only a 25 minute walk from my front door, with views across the fells of the Lake District, and towards Morecambe and Blackpool on a clear day.

  • We had a comfortable stay at Nigel’s place. The van was warm enough, beds were comfortable and the WiFi worked perfectly. We found the book with information on places to eat out helpful as not everywhere is open everyday. The facilities are there if you want to cook and we did for breakfast and lunch. Would certainly use it again and recommend it to other family members.

Tucked away up a track on the edge of the National Park, it's peaceful and quiet here. A great base for exploring the beautiful mountains and coast of the western Lake District, and within easy reach of the busier areas of the central Lakes. Or you can stay put and enjoy the house and large garden surrounded by fields and mountains, with panoramic views of the hills. There's a barbeque you can use, and during the summer months there's even a little hot tub.
A private entrance leads from the back of the house directly into the guest accommodation. This includes your own kitchen, downstairs toilet, and your own lounge / dining room complete with wood burning stove. The guest bedroom and guest bathroom are upstairs. These rooms are all just for your use. Please note, the house only has one staircase so the hallway and stairs are shared usage with us.
Mountains, beaches, beautiful views and a good local pub within walking distance. A lovely area tucked away from the busy tourist traffic, within easy reach of the central lakes.
  • We had a great time at Phil and Sarah. Spotlessly clean and their local knowledge of the area and the natural surrounds was a bonus. Perfect location ,couldn't have asked for more.

    Elazar2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Phil and Sarah are lovely, thoughtful people, that lives in a lovely, peaceful place. I stayed here for 20 days for work. You’ll get a bedroom, shower room/ toilet, kitchen and livingroom all to yourself, with a fireplace which was my highlight of everyday there, and 2nd was opening the curtains to see sheep’s nearby my window (only to run away when they saw me). Phil and Sarah were great host, made me feel welcome, and was always willing to help. It’s the little things that went a long way for me, for instance, there were essential supplies in the kitchen like bread, butter, eggs, tea and coffee on the day i checked in, which saved me doing some late shopping as that was the last thing I wanted to do after hours of driving, and there was another occasion when phil and Sarah heard me coughing all night from a cold, that following morning there was a packet of lemsip with a note on the kitchen table, again saving me a trip and hassle of getting one myself. I have absolutely no complaints about my time here, lovely people, nice clean rooms, a pristine shower room, very peaceful and cosy once you get the fireplace going.

    Chiraag2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Very homey with everything we needed. We especially loved that the fire was waiting burning for us each night. Phil and Sarah were very nice and willing to offer advice for the area. They live in a separate part of the house so it felt like a private place. Would recommend.

    Emma2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic, perfect and secluded. Outstanding hospitality. Would highly recommend to anyone. Great hosts.

    Anthony2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous hospitality and a warm welcome. Stunning views surrounding the house and beyond . The house itself was spotlessly clean and warm and cosy. We had everything we needed and more. Sarah and Phil had very thoughtfully provided bread, milk, tea, coffee, butter, jam and eggs which we enjoyed for our breakfasts! The bed was so comfy. The lounge was warm and cosy with the wood burner. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, so relaxing and fabulous to take in the nights sky stargazing! A truly magical place with twinkling lights above the rockery. Owls hooting in the trees. A fabulous find and one we will be returning to to explore the beautiful scenery of the nearby countryside and coastline, simply stunning.

    Elizabeth2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a very pleasant stay with Phil and Sarah. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was a welcome addition to the facilities, especially after a day on horseback. The location is wonderful too.

  • Lovely spot in the South Lakes with beautiful views! The cabin is brilliant, very clean and has everything you need. Sarah is a lovely host who was really hospitable during our stay, and made sure we were comfortable and had a great time. Would definitely recommend!

    Jonny2020-01-01T00:00:00Z

  • I cannot begin to tell you how lovely the cabin was, or how lovely Sarah was as a host. The view is absolutely incredible, and the cabin itself is so quaint. It was the perfect size for me, as a person traveling alone. I loved every minute of my stay, and will most definitely be returning!

There was tea/coffee and fresh milk in the fridge. The ensuite was lovely and had a nice big shower. I only stayed one night and had a great night's sleep and wish I could have stayed longer as everything was spotless. Thanks Helen :)

Cosy attic room basic but decent accommodation with all mod cons including fridge, tv, kettle and wifi , this house may not be the Hilton but we will bend over backwards to make your stay here as pleasant as possible. The location of the house is perfect if you're working in or near the city center. The property is a Short Walk from the Town Centre, Morrisons Supermarket, /Off Licence on next block. Very close to Docks, BAE, gas terminal and hospital, the Lake District is also half hour away!
Barrow-in-Furness was the home to the world famous Vickers ship building empire, if you like ships this is the place for you, Vickers have build several ships which are still active today such as: Alborz – Frigate of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (Commissioned in 1971) ARA Hércules – Type 42 destroyer of the Argentine Navy (Commissioned in 1976) HMS Albion – Amphibious transport dock of the Royal Navy (Commissioned in 2003) HMS Ambush – Submarine of the Royal Navy (Commissioned in 2013) If you're not into ships there are many other attractions in the area such as: Furness Abbey Walney Island Piel Island Dock Museum South Walney Nature Reserve Barrow Park Earnse Bay Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve Barrow-in-Furness Library Barrow-in-Furness Town Hall And lastly if you really wanted to go for it there is a place many believe to be the greatest place on earth and that is the awesome LAKE DISTRICT which is a mere half hour drive from here.
  • Mark is just getting started as a host and seems keen to improve his offering. He was sociable and very hospitable. The room was warm and clean. The location turned out better than expected with the bus I needed leaving from Morrisons at the end of the street.

We fell in love with this place the moment we arrived. The peace of the area gave us a chance to relax in the beautiful surroundings. Close by, the lake, hills and mountains gave us the chance to have some adventures. Our Lake District cottage is one of four properties that were once the mill in Water Yeat. It has an open kitchen dining room which makes a great space to relax. The living room has a wood burning stove, vaulted ceiling and large windows with views over the hamlet and countryside.
Our cottage has: An open kitchen diner with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A living room with two sofas, satellite TV, DVD and wood-burning stove. 1 double bedroom with king-size bed 1 double bedroom with double day bed Bathroom with bath and separate shower Hallway Parking for two vehicles Garden and patio
We live in a small hamlet with lovely views and walks and cycle rides in all directions. Walk straight onto the nearby hills, down to the river or along to the lake Coniston Water. Nearby are the villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, the higher Lakeland mountains and Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin. A little further are Ambleside, Windermere, Langdale and Grasmere. The area has many great cafes and pubs serving local produce. For the more adventurous there is great mountain walking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and sailing close by, independently or with local adventure companies.
  • Had a perfect week with our 2 beagles, garden perfect for them to run around in. Cottage has everything we needed and will definitely be coming back

  • This is a lovely place to stay. The room itself is large and airy, very clean, plenty of hanging and drawer space and very comfortable. The sink and toilet are across the corridor but no one else uses it and there is a key lock. The breakfast room is well stocked and there are lots of extras available for other times. The views from the house are magnificent. Carol and her husband are excellent hosts. I loved it here and hope I have the opportunity to return one day.

    Penny2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful and serene. Carol and David are lovely, personable hosts and have thought of everything their guests would need for added comfort. Incredible value for money too! David also gave us local tips and was very informative. They were attentive to all their guests needs and yet still gave us plenty of privacy. The self-serve breakfast was an added bonus. Felt like home away from home! X

They provide breakfast and a lovely quiet space. The value is superb for the beautiful and peaceful location. Their communication was great and one night was not enough time there. Many thanks for the hospitality and always recommend this beautiful and clean space.

Millom is a small quiet town close to multiple beaches and on the door step to the Lake District and all the great national trust sights.
  • Luke's place is spotlessly clean and in a good location for exploring the south west portion of the Lake District. His communication was prompt and the description of the accommodation accurate. I'd have no problem recommending Luke's place.

    Marcus2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Everything that we needed was there (even little things like dishwasher tablets). One of the things I love and appreciate when I stay at air B&B.

    Liga2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • My 2 friends and I went to stay at Luke's place when we went to climb Scarfell Pike last weekend, and we just thought we were booking a modest place to put our heads down. We couldn't believe it when we stepped into this beautiful 4 floor house. The bedrooms are massive, light filled and sparkling clean; and the house is both stylishly furnised and homely. The photos just do not do it justice at all. On top of this, the hosts are lovely and so easy to communicate with. We were having problems fixing the TV on the Saturday night and one of them dropped into to fix the problem personally for us - we couldn't believe it. Thank you for such a lovely and memorable weekend.

    Niamh2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lukes’s place in Millom is outstanding. The house is a fun 4 levels, so lots of stairs which we loved, but just to be aware of. It is incredibly beautifully remodeled and decorated in a white, airy, modern spacious style which was beyond our expectations. The kitchen is just wonderful, the home is immaculate and everything is delightful and refreshing. We couldn’t recommend it more highly. Amanda, who graciously received us even though we arrived late at night, was over the top hospitable and fun. There is also a local stone circle on a walk just a few minute from the village! Beautiful area. Loved it.

    Benjamin2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • It's excellent place so stay with a family or friends. We had brilliant time. Luke's mum was very nice and kind. Place was much more better than we expected. Everything what you need and more. Clean, shiny, pretty interior. Two nights was not enough for us, kids asked to stay forever :)) Thank you for a great time and experience. x

  • Loved my stay here, Sarah as a fab host, she thought of everything and the barn is immaculate. I particularly enjoyed the view from the bedroom window in the morning. It's epic! I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy place to stay in the lakes.

    Dom2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Sarah's place! It's about a 45m walk to reach Ulverston, which was mostly downhill so quite easy. If travelling on a busy weekend you need to book restaurants and taxis in advance - we didn't manage to book the restaurant we wanted as Ulverston got incredibly busy on the bank holiday weekend.

    El2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not do this place justice- it's a lot bigger and more luxurious than we expected! It is a clean and comfy home and Sarah has thought of everything you could possibly need. The location is a short drive from the lakes, but handy for access to more amenities in Ulverston.

    Vera2019-08-19T00:00:00Z

This place ticked every box for us and more, we really had a chance to escape and unwind. Thank you for an easy booking, checking in and staying experience, including the welcoming touches (wine, milk and flowers). We definitely plan on coming back. Thank you!

  • We stayed for 3 nights at this beautiful and lovingly decorated space. It was light and airy and very clean. The location is amazing and right on the beachfront. The little touches of the wine, chocolate and fire wood were greatly appreciated and the wood burner in the evening was warm and cosy. It’s a perfect base to explore the beautiful Lake District and we will 100% stay again if we visit.

    Tanya2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We spent Christmas here and it was everything we hoped for and more. Relaxed and peaceful, we loved watching the sea from the sofa with the fire on. It’s much more spacious than the photos appear and is a real home from home. We look forward to coming back during the summer.

The Bothy is a quirky detached building offering cosy comfortable "upside down" self catering accommodation for two people. An enclosed private garden surrounds the Bothy and there are spectacular views of Scafell Pike.
Woodend Bothy is quite remote and situated in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. From the car park, stone steps lead up to a gate and the front door. You enter into the combined lounge / dining / kitchen area with views towards Scafell Pike. Open plan wooden steps lead down to the bedroom, which has stone walls and oak beams. A door leads from the bedroom to the bathroom which has a traditional slipper bath, hand basin and WC. Located quite high on Birker Fell (950') and approached from the fell along a single track road through a gate, it has fantastic views across the fell towards Scafell Pike, (Englands's highest mountain), and is a ten minute walk from one of the smaller of the lakes, Devoke Water, which never the less is nearly a mile long. The kitchen and garden have incredible views towards Scafell Pike, Bow Fell and Crinkle Craggs. Within twenty minutes walking you can be at the top of Devoke Seat where, on a clear day, you have a 360 degree panoramic view that includes Devoke Water, the Langdales, the coast and the Isle of Man.
We are situated 3 miles from both the Eskdale Valley and the Duddon Valley and conveniently situated for Ulpha, Seathwaite, Broughton-in-Furness and Boot. There are several dog friendly pubs and plenty of walking and sightseeing. There are details of places to visit on our website.
  • Managed to find the Bothy with ease due to great directions. On arrival accomodation was clean and tidy and just what we were looking for to get away from it all for a few days. Even with snow, wind and rain its a beautiful location. Managed to get out and cycle over Hardknott pass which was only 10 miles away, after a break in the weather. We will definitely be staying again.

  • Really cosy week in the bothy despite very stormy February weather! It's a wonderful warm space with a lot of heart & character. Great isolated location on top of a windswept moorland plateau not far from Wasdale/other fells! Thoroughly recommend the Bothy (and all of the many nearby pubs too!)

The Buttery is cosy and quirky self contained private accommodation adjoining the barn offering self catering accommodation for two people. There is an enclosed private "courtyard" garden and spectacular views of Scafell.
Woodend Buttery is quite remote and situated in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. The Buttery is cosy private self contained accommodation for two people adjoining the barn. It combines the old with the new and has a multifuel "log burning" stove in the living area and a feature fire basket in the courtyard for the summer months. Layout From the parking area is a gate to the front garden and a step then leads to the front door where you enter into the combined lounge / dining / kitchen area with slate floor and oak beams. A half flight of steps leads down to the oak floored bedroom and bathroom which comprises of a traditional slipper bath, hand basin and WC. There are incredible views towards Scafell Pike, Bow Fell and Crinkle Craggs.
  • We could not believe the location and how comfortable and cosy the Buttery was. The hosts were always available for local advice on everything from the weather to safety tips for getting around. The information pack and the directions they provided were very detailed and we used them for just about everything from the stove to the nearest petrol station. It was invaluable! Highly recommend Woodend Buttery! Just remember to stock up on provisions before you get there as the nearest shop is a fair distance away :)

  • If you like peace and quiet in a remote place but not far from all the walks and breath taking scenery then this is the place . Paul and jella are amazing hosts and always around with advise, I would book again.

  • We stayed in the Buttery at Woodend and absolutely loved our stay. The Buttery is small but perfectly formed. The living room / kitchen is really cosy with the wood burning stove, the bed is very comfortable and the roll top bath was a lovely surprise. We would highly recommend a visit.

    Sarah2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing location! The scenery on your doorstep is breathtaking. We really enjoyed our stay, just the relaxing break we needed.

    Helen2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for 3 days escaping in the Lakes! There are 4 cottages on the site but we rarely saw anyone and it felt wonderful and remote. The Buttery is perfect to get cosy by the wood burner after a days walking. The local tips meant we had 2 great meals out and the well equipped kitchen meant we could prepare breakfast and dinner too. We didn’t even need the car one day due to the route recommended down to the falls. 3 nights was not enough and we’re already planning our next trip!

  • If you’re looking for a cottage in the middle of the Lake District with beautiful views, walks from the back door and a bit of peace a quiet (with the exception of a few sheep) then I would highly recommend this lovely little cottage. The drive in alone is stunningly beautiful and the hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. The cottage itself is well equipped with cooking equipment and there’s plenty of room for two people in the two floor space. Everything was clean and worked well. Even the WiFi was surprisingly good, which is required, because your phone signal will be non-existent. It rained the whole time for us, but we still loved it and managed to get out and about plenty of times.

    Oliver2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place in a beautiful area, the check in was easy and Stuart & Lynda were very hospitable. The accommodation itself was clean and had all the amenities to self cater. Would definitely recommend this for anybody looking to explore the south and western lakes.

  • There isn’t much we can write here that hasn’t already been said about this magical cottage. From the coziness of it, the hospitality of the hosts, to the location within Lake District National Park, this stay is absolutely amazing. The fact that you can step out of your front door and begin a long walk within the park is priceless. This is made even easier by the fact that Stuart & Lynda provide a book outlining such walks. This may just be our favorite AirBnB we’ve ever stayed in. Do yourself a favor and book for an extra night because you won’t want to leave.

  • This is an absolutely beautiful little cottage. The photos don't do it justice. The sofa was perfect for cuddling and the bed was perfect for snuggling. Well stocked kitchen with everything and anything you could need though we spent so much time out enjoying the landscape I think we only used the teaspoons! ☕ Nice hot shower after a day of walking, though you might need to mind your head if you are 6ft+ as there is a beautiful beam over the bath, for us short stacks it was a nice feature that added to the character of the place 🥰 Stuart and Lynda have made up the most convenient booklet with all the information you could ever need and it made our stay effortless. Our favourite touch is the little book of walks detailing 6 of the best walks door to door, we'll have to stay again to do some more! We adored our time in this sweet place and even with winter weather the views were incredible. It was so peaceful and quiet! The only sounds were of the little birds outside, especially the very friendly Mr Robin who was happy to be provided breakfast on the doorstep. Looking forward to our next trip to the Lakes if we can stay in Stuart and Lynda's place again!

  • This is our second visit to ringhouse cottages and it was just as beautiful as we remember. 20 mins drive away from Conniston it is the perfect location for us but still secluded and quiet which we love. Stablecroft was cute, cosy and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. The bed was super comfy and the room a good size. The place was cleaned and tidied to a high standard. We love everything about it and will definitely be back again in the future.

The Schoolhouse is a quirky detached south facing cottage offering cosy comfortable studio style self catering accommodation on one level for two people. There is a private enclosed garden and there are spectacular views up the fell.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed here, looking to hike in the local area which is a beautiful part of the Lake District. It's surrounded by peaceful and quiet green farms, with absolutely no light pollution at night. The schoolhouse cottage where we stayed at has a lovely and authentic feel of the countryside, and the old-fashioned interaction of a iron cast log fire where wood and coal keeps you warm was nice to use. Sky TV, books, DVDs, and pots plus pans come with the place so we were able to wind down and cook after a long day of hiking. You can buy the local farm eggs too. Paul and Gella were very friendly and always available, giving us information for our hikes too. You are able to park your car here too. We shall come in the summer as we thoroughly enjoyed the cosy experience of the countryside!

  • We had a cracking time and the cottage was even better than the pictures! The nearby lake was stunning, even despite the weather and we loved the greenhouse which was like a huge porch! Ideal for cleaning up the dog after a long walk. Would definitely stay again!

  • We had a great stay in a super remote location on Birker Fell with all the attractions of Eskdale a few miles away. Walks direct from the house and a lovely stone cottage that has all you need including Sky tv, movies and sport. Recommended.

  • Had a great week staying in the old school house, great amenities, everything you need for a little get away. Paul and Jella were great hosts, sorting out the hot water straight away after it wasn’t getting very warm on the first day. Perfect place to get away from it all.
