  • This is a gem. Cheryl is wonderful and the home is very cozy. I visited in the winter and it was the perfect home in between exploring the area. Make sure to communicate your arrival prior to leaving the airport because cell service can be very spotty. 10/10 would come back.

  • Cheryl's home was the perfect getaway - absolutely gorgeous both inside and out, and a perfect location for feeling tucked away in the mountains but having all the amenities in town a short drive away. If you're considering staying here, please do!! It's an opportunity you won't want to miss. I hope I'll be back some day!

  • What a great, cozy little space in the woods! Loved the hot tub and the river view. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

  • This is a really neat place on the water and in a state forest. Everything is exactly as depicted in the listing. Be sure to print and use Heather's well written directions for access to the property.

  • Perfect little place for a weekend wedding in Seeley, thanks!

  • The "Guest Suite" at Elbow Lake, Montana was a delightful and authentic "Montana Experience," (from someone who lives in Montana!) Outstanding of the many amenities for me was the cozy and well-stocked patio/firepit with the scenic lake view and the sunset view from the funky and fun outdoor porch. Enjoyed seeing a visiting red fox and a gaggle of Canada geese fly-in. And the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! I hope to be able to stay again. Thank you!

    Michelle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Make sure to follow her directions as they are key to finding her place. We lost signal on our way there and it was dark at night so it’s very easy to miss it. When you first make the turn to the property do not go to the farthest left path since it is a dead end and if you don’t have a bigger vehicle with good tires, you might not make it back to the top where you started since it has a very bumpy and steep road. It was a little spooky at night when we went to the hot tub but the night was nice and refreshing. When we woke up we looked at the backyard again to realize there was small lake in her backyard. Amazing views. We even got greeted by the dog last night. We have two labs at home and reminded us of our own pups.

    Anthony2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Heather's Airbnb description and photos are extremely accurate. The bed and mattress were extremely comfortable and we had an incredible night's sleep. The surroundings are very peaceful and serene. We enjoyed making dinner on the BBQ Grill and sitting on the deck having dinner and then sitting around a campfire enjoying the river and the beaver hut down below us. The kitchen supplies we're perfect for stay and the bathroom shower. We especially loved the outdoor sink for when we were grilling. Heather was a gracious host and very nice to talk to. Bottom line is we will definitely stay here again if we are heading to Seeley Lake.

  • This is a lovely spot! It's comfortable, quiet and remote, with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. There is a beaver dam nearby, lots of birds and also squirrels to watch. The road to the cabin is a little rough, but it's doable in a passenger vehicle (our Honda Fit was OK!) if you drive slowly. Heather was a very nice host!

Welcome to the Hohnstead! Relive summer camps of yore at this transforming PET-FRIENDLY(*) glamping getaway, only 20 minutes outside of Missoula. Surround yourself with tranquility and wildlife as you enjoy pure simplicity inside this quirky and secluded dwelling. A solar outdoor shower, bathroom, and Wi-fi are within a 1-minute walk. Book now or add us to your wishlist! "What a magical place, set in gorgeous lands, with amazing views, an experience not to be missed” * pet cleaning fee $25
More images of the property are available @TheHohnstead on Instagram. The A-Frame is OFF GRID and there are certain concessions that we make in order to live on such a beautiful piece of property as this: a) Solar shower facility is available and depends largely on the weather conditions. It is outdoors, which means that THE SHOWER HEATS UP FROM THE SUN. You must be flexible as the sunshine and the weather dictate your ability to take a shower (we understand that it's not for everyone, but that is how we live out here OFF GRID.) b) The bathroom requires a short 1-minute walk to an enclosed outdoor bathroom. In the Commons Area there is a shared kitchen with a fridge, stove, oven, BBQ as well as WIFI, local info, games and books. The night sky is full of stars like you've never seen before. Bring your camera to this picturesque spot! c) Being in the mountains, we share the space with beautifully Instagrammable animals such as deer, elk, and bear. All that said, bugs, flies and the occasional mouse might drop by to say hello too. We do our ABSOLUTE BEST (fly tape, traps, poison, ancient Blackfoot Indian chants) to make sure you won't see them. However, If even the prospect of the sight or sound of the occasional bug or mouse puts a burr under your saddle, we kindly suggest that you book a chain hotel in the big city of Missoula. Basically, this isn't your Grandad's Howard Johnson chain hotel experience, in this space and on this property you'll be reminded of the simplicity of life, the stillness of nature and the pureness of your routine being dictated by the sun.
What "neighborhood"? This is a family plot of 100+ acres, nestled in the forests and Mountains on Gold Creek and within 10 minutes of Blackfoot river. Talk about peace and quiet!
  • Loved our little A-frame cabin. We were there in September so it wasn't always sunny enough to get a warm shower, but we knew this was a possibility. Not a big deal - we ended up stopping at a KOA and paying a few $$ for a hot shower one night. Beautiful setting, wonderful hosts. Would absolutely visit again.

  • If you’re looking for the perfect weekend getaway this is the place to go!

    Gabe2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Alla and Garrett’s way to describe the location is not only hilarious but 100% easy to find. You’ll be safe here, we promise ;) We stayed at the A-frame and it was perfect! Donna greeted us (Garrett’s mom) and she was wonderful. We later on met Jeff (Garrett’s dad) and he was a hoot! He had ya laughing so much and we had great conversations with them. I have tendencies of looking at every detail and the tiny yet super comfy cabin was just perfect. They are so detailed and clean! We had so much fun on their property. Their hot tub was amazing too with those views. The roll out bed was perfect to cuddle with my hubby. They pay attention to detail which we loved! We cannot wait to come back in the spring. Thank you Donna and Jeff for being such wonderful guests! We felt as we were part of the family.

  • We loved it here! The woods are so peaceful and beautiful, and it's a really great location. Cute and comfy a-frame, and the home-made honey from their bees was a great touch and was delicious in my coffee! Thanks!

  • Cute, cozy, stylish cabin on a beautiful property! The owners are super friendly and accommodating, and the A Frame was full of thoughtful touches (good coffee, cooking equipment, etc.) to make our stay more enjoyable. Doesn’t get much better than this!

As a young child, did you ever dream of staying in a shed seasonally dedicated to young plants and old tools? Me neither, but at the same time, I never dreamed of staying in a cement box next to other cement boxes, paying hotel prices. The juxtaposition of what we are offering is special: A unique place to enjoy days and nights with the trees and wildlife that make Montana "The last best place," all the while close to creature comforts like AC, TV, Internet, refrigeration, shared kitchen space
Located only 8 miles from Kettlehouse Amphitheater and 25 minutes from Missoula, the Shed is your getaway from it all. Wilderness - check! The serenity of the mountains - check! Rustling of the wind - check! Endless sky of stars - check! Fantastic views from your bed - check! This is why people come to Montana in the first place. We would know having hosted folks from as close as Missoula to as far as Scotland and all points in between. Unsurprisingly, no one wants to leave. What a compliment! Living in the mountains on such an insanely beautiful piece of land, we have to make a few concessions: a) Solar shower facility is available and depends largely on the weather conditions. It is outdoors, which means that THE SHOWER HEATS UP FROM THE SUN. You must be flexible as the sunshine and the weather dictates your ability to take a shower (we understand that it's not for everyone). b) Bathroom requires a short 30-second walk to a quaint outhouse. c) Being in the mountains, we share the space with beautifully Instagrammable animals such as deer, elk, and bear. All that said, we also share it with less sexy bugs, flies and the occasional mouse. Some of them might even have the audacity to drop by to say hello too. We do our ABSOLUTE BEST (fly tape, traps, poison, ancient Blackfoot Indian chants) to make sure you won't see them. However, If even the prospect of the sight or sound of the occasional bug or mouse puts a burr under your saddle, we kindly suggest that you book a chain hotel in the big city of Missoula. d) There is a STRICT NO OUTDOOR FIRE on this property and mountain! We'd be pretty sad, maybe even as far as mad, if you burnt down western Montana :( e) Why the 4 day minimum? We look at The Shed as the perfect place for writers, thinkers, star gazer and dreamers to power down the engines and enjoy some peace and quite out in the mountains for an extended time at a bargain price. If 4 nights is too much of a commitment for you, we recommend looking at any of the 3 other units. The night sky is full of stars like you've never seen before. Bring your camera to this picturesque spot! Basically, this isn't your Grandad's Howard Johnson chain hotel experience, in this space and on this property you'll be reminded of the simplicity of life, the stillness of nature and the pureness of your routine being dictated by the sun. If "The Shed" is not your cup of Montana brew, then try one of our other two units: "The Shanty" https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16989109?s=51 "The A-frame" https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/22440493?s=51
Neighborhood? What neighborhood? This is a 100-acre family plot. It's you, me and the other three AirBnbs units spaced out on the property :)
  • Lovely space. The design of the shed is very cozy and cute. It’s a lovely property away from the busyness of the city. It’s a great place to stay. I would definitely come back

    Anthony2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • I imagine it’s a difficult balance when hosting to make sure that you give the folks who have come to the middle of nowhere the space they need to unwind but also that you be open, available and gracious. Alla and Garrett make a great team. They share everything that is theirs with their guests, give plenty of space but are also quick to reply with suggestions above and beyond what they’ve included on their helpful list of things to do in the area. They are enthusiastic, open-minded and interesting people who really care about connecting with others. The spaces are well-designed, and the amenities (fridge shelf, plates and cutlery, towels, flashlight, etc.) are thoughtful. You can tell they’ve done this before and have taken feedback very seriously. Make sure you get a tour of the property; what they have built is amazing! I hope to come back and see them in a summer to come and stay in The Blind!

  • If you’re looking for a unique and charming experience, this is the place for you! Located within 30 minutes of Missoula on the hills about the Blackfoot, this provides an awesome opportunity to get more in touch with the nature beautiful Montana! We stayed here for the Missoula Marathon and it allowed us the best of both worlds- the outdoors and quick access to town. We loved our stay, the charming room, the hospitality and adventure that this place gave us! Alla and Garrett are friendly and helpful! Such an awesome experience!

There are 7 rustic cabins situated on 28,000 acres of forest located 30 miles northeast of Missoula, Montana.
We have 7 rustic cabins, 6 of which house one bunk bed, one twin bed and a small desk and 1 cabin that has just two twin beds. They all have electricity and heat. The ski trails and the property are pet-friendly. For more information about Lubrecht Forest, please visit: (URL HIDDEN) We also offer conference facilities, dining hall, pavilion and fire pit and other lodging opportunities.
We are located in the Blackfoot River drainage.
  • Super fun place to stay. Great trails and skiing. Beautiful location!

  • Great location, easy access. Simple, clean, but exactly what I was looking for. Very good communication and would definitely stay again.

    Larniegrl2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin #4 was a fun clean little space just right for our one night. Fall colors were beautiful. Wood was there for the stove and kept us cozy. Bathrooms were great. Rec room was fun. Might have to come back to check out the ski trails.

    Sue2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a perfect spot to find peace and quietness. The cabins are lovely and the forest is sublime. Thanks for having us!

    Claire2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was clean, spacious, and also contained a full fridge/freezer. The bathroom was a short walk away from my cabin, so if you need to be closer I would recommend requesting Cabins 1-4 if possible. I only stayed for one night, and it was exactly what I needed: a clean, dry space with a bath/shower nearby.

    Courtney2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lubrecht Forest is beautiful with trails to hike and explore, or to just sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. The cabin was super clean and comfortable and linens were provided. The bath house was sparkling clean and the showers were great! Communication with the host was responsive, check-in was easy, and the map that was sent made it easy to find my way around. I am a lone traveler and I felt safe here. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful place to stay in a cabin in the woods.

Looking for a cozy stay on one of Montana's iconic waterways? Look no further! Nestled at the confluence of the world-famous Rock Creek, Montana’s first blue ribbon trout fishery, and the majestic Clark Fork River sits Five Valleys Land Trust's Rock Creek Confluence Cabin. Located 25 miles from Missoula, the Confluence Cabin is the perfect base camp for all your weekend adventures, whether you enjoy fishing, hiking, bird watching or simply sitting around the fire pit. Trains pass through area.
The Rock Creek Confluence Cabin sits on the historic Corra Ranch that has served as a gateway to Rock Creek for over a century, welcoming visitors and residents to this world-famous valley that stretches south across the Sapphire Mountain Range to the Pintler Wilderness and the Continental Divide. In the mid 2000's a 36-unit subdivision was proposed for the site, which threatened to forever change the character of the valley and cut off access to miles of rivers, streams, and adjoining National Forest. In 2012, With help from a broad group of public and private partners, Five Valleys Land Trust, a local conservation non-profit, purchased the 300-acre Rock Creek Confluence Property, which included the Cabin. Since then, Five Valleys has worked to restore the land and improve public access to the property. Proceeds from renting the Confluence Cabin help support Five Valleys Land Trust's conservation work in western Montana.
The Rock Creek Confluence Cabin, while just 25 miles from the urban center of Missoula, is close to the town of Clinton and community of Rock Creek. The Clinton Market is a full-service grocery store and gas station, and the town hosts a post office and bar. Right up Rock Creek Road from the Cabin lies the community of Rock Creek. If you're looking for a home-cooked meal, visit Ekstrom's Stage Station, which has been welcoming, and feeding, both locals and visitors for over a century.
  • Great cozy cabin. Great location. Great views. We hope this available to rent the next time we come up as well. Great communication. Thank you

    Lawrence2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Rock Creek Confluence Cabin. Beautiful area and cabin, so comfortable and very clean. We had everything we needed, it made for a relaxing weekend. The guys went fishing in Rock Creek about 12 miles up the road and had lots of luck with the fishing. Catch and release of course. Our last day they just walked over to the Clark Fork, they didn’t have any luck, but said if they had stayed out longer they would have probably gotten a hatch with the warm afternoon. My only suggestions would be to bring ear plugs as the train is pretty close. It would also be nice if there were some open shelves in the kitchen for our non refrigerated items , we ended up storing them on the washer and dryer. All in all a wonderful place with a great vibe. We loved reading about the Five Valleys conservation efforts to save the property from development, good job!

  • Beautiful rustic cabin in rock creek right next to the creek. The cabin is sparkling clean, has all the amenities one needs, is near fishing spots and a short walk to a great restaurant called eckstrom’s. Best huckleberry pie I’ve had in my life! The people in this area are so kind. We went fishing with our kids and didn’t catch anything so a guy next to us gave us his trout! It was big enough to feed 5 people! We grilled it and enjoyed it for dinner! We wish we could have stayed longer.

This quaint and cozy cabin is just steps from the Big Blackfoot River and some of the finest trout fishing in America. This is the perfect place for a family or group of anglers looking for an unparalleled Montana experience. This cabin is 1.5 miles away from the Kettlehouse Amphitheater. There are two homes on the property (both are on AirBNB). The properties are separate but share a driveway. If you are interested in renting both properties don't hesitate to reach out!
This homey cabin and its adjacent bunk house are just steps from the Blackfoot River and some of the best trout fishing in America. In addition to its incredible location it offers a well-appointed kitchen and propane bbq. The Casita sits on 5 acres that border the river and Montana Hwy 200. A short trail (approximately 100 yds) leads from the cabin down to the river bank where you'll find a hammock, fire pit, horseshoe pits and easy access to good wade fishing.
The Blackfoot River is renowned for its recreational opportunities, most notably fly fishing, but also rafting, canoeing, and inner tubing. The Blackfoot is a fast, cold river in the spring with many deep spots, making it prime habitat for several varieties of trout. By mid summer it is warm enough for a refreshing swim. The river is featured in the 1976 novella A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean, as well as the 1992 film adaptation starring Brad Pitt, directed by Robert Redford.
  • We rented both properties to have a getaway weekend and dinner party for my partner's birthday. Caitlin was extremely helpful and responsive to all my questions before and during our stay and was so nice to greet us on arrival to help us get our bearings. The views of the river and mountains were fantastic! The hot tub made it even more enjoyable! We would love to come back with the kids in summer time to enjoy the outside property even more. The homes were both beautiful and comfortable, we were able to have 10 people comfortably for dinner on the beautiful big wooden table. My partner brought the knives and utensils he needed to make dinner but we would have been fine with what they have available in the kitchen. From relaxing in the living room, to soaking in the hot tub, to snuggling up with a movie in what I called the cove (the side room with pull out couch), to playing music with friends and eating delicious tri-tip this was exactly the relaxing weekend we were looking for, and right outside Missoula! This was my best experience with AirBnb to date. We were completely satisfied from start to finish. I would highly recommend staying with Caitlyn and Ryan at Blackfoot basecamp!

  • The Casita is in a gorgeous location. We enjoyed a fire every night outside, sledding and fishing. We watched a ram climb the mountain across the river and saw two bald eagles. The kids loved the loft and the bunkhouse. We will definitely stay again

  • Great place!

    Joseph2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The casita was perfect for the night we spent there. The fire pit and proximity to the river was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.

    Ashley2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Caitlin and Ryan are great hosts. They both are very kind and gentle and ... as an extra bonus Ryan took us out for a nice float on the Blackfoot river. The scenery was amazing. We where there to do some fly-fishing around the Missoula area and the Casita acted perfect as a central hub. The fishing was just awesome and even in front of the Casita, on banks of the Blackfoot River, there are plenty of trout waiting to be caught. In the evening it takes a 15-minute drive to Missoula down town, where you will find some good restaurants and where you can taste some excellent beers brewed by some local small breweries.

    Elie2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second year staying at the Casita and we love it here. The place is awesome, bed is super comfortable and it’s all situated in the most beautiful location. Can’t wait to return

    Robert2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot along the river! Had a fun weekend while staying at the Casita. Sweet place that's perfect for a weekend in Missoula, or to spend some time on the river. Should be your #1 consideration if seeing a show at Kettlehouse, just over a mile down the road. Would definitely stay again.

    Trevor2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really clean and comfortable, had all of the modern conveniences. Location was good as it was next to the river, but traffic noise from the highway was a constant drone. The cabin is only a few minutes from Bonner and the town pump nearby has plenty of selection of you forget something. The river access is down a fairly steep, but well maintained path and is an awesome place to hang out. If you like to fish, the Blackfoot River is a great river for casting or fly-fishing and there is a nice eddy down stream with rainbows in it. The owners are great to work with too; they were quick to answer any question I had and very friendly. This was a great cabin and our family had a great stay. We definitely recommend this property.

Private cabin on 1 acre fenced lot. Great place for summer & winter fun w/ access to wilderness, public land and Seeley, Holland & Flathead lakes. Lots of hiking trails and boat, canoe and bike rentals within a mile from cabin. Pups welcome.
Seeley Lake's a small town, but has a grocery store, pub, pizza place, a couple of diners, and a couple of places to get good coffee. There are a few nice gift shops and outdoor stores in town as well. Missoula is a college town with lots of shopping and things to do, and is about 45 min-1 hour away.
  • A slice of Montana heaven that feels secluded yet town is just a few miles down the road.

    Andrew2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, would stay at again.

  • The cabin is our revived dream. It's exactly what we wanted for short winter vacation. I still called it our den. It gave us everything we need: warm, coziness, tranquility. I recommend this place if you want to hide from the world and relax. Dagny is an amazing host. She cared about us, answered for all our questions quickly, provided a clear instruction on how to find the place. She wanted us to have a carefree vacation, and I appreciated it. p.s. there was only one little inconvenience: no iron. But it wasn't a problem for us at all.

    Victoria2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this cabin. Perfect place to wake up on Christmas morning! We wanted to get away for the holiday and this for sure was the spot. Thank you for opening your home to us.

    Abby2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is the perfect summer or winter getaway only an hour from Missoula. I stayed here in July for 3 days & now in December for a week. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking all week. The space is gorgeous & lovingly decorated. I did not feel any need to leave except to go for lovely winter walks with my dog. There are movies, books, & games👌 I have stayed in Air B&B accommodations all over the world & this is at the top of my list! I will definitely be back! Jen

  • Amazing cabin in Seeley! Didn't spend too much time here with work and all, but bed was comfortable! Amazing little slice of paradise! Reccomend for sure.

    Chris2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a spotlessly clean rental in a nature setting. Loved the layout of the cabin, very homey and comfortable. The fenced yard was perfect for my dog (remember to close the gate) ! The temp outside was anywhere from upper teens to upper thirties and with the gas stove and electric heat the cabin is warm. Nice to come back to after a day of hiking!

  • This beautiful house was perfect or our family from New Orleans & Houston. It held all 3 of our families with ease. The area is beautiful and even if we didn't have family with a cabin a few miles away it would be a great place to see Elbow Lake, Salmon Lake, Seeley Lake, and the Blackfoot river. The home is in a quiet area yet easy to get to and find. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place in the area.

At night we went out to observe the stars without all the city lights that interfere. Beautiful, clean unit with many thoughtful added touches. Cereal, coffee, tea and some snacks were provided. We were offered a continental breakfast, also. Bed was very comfortable. Ginger and Scott are very welcoming. She even loaned her huckleberry picking bucket and bear spray to me.

This recently updated adventurer's paradise sits on 5 acres along the bank of the Blackfoot River. It's perfect for a family or group of friends looking to explore Montana's great outdoors but stay within 10 minutes of downtown Missoula. It’s also the closest riverside rental to the incredible Kettlehouse Amphitheater.
This unique and cozy home is just steps from the Blackfoot River and some of the best trout fishing in America. In addition to its incomparable location it has a phenomenal kitchen and living space as well as a hot tub, spacious back deck and a propane bbq. The house sits on 5 acres that border the river and Montana Hwy 200. A short trail (approximately 100 yds) leads from the house down to the river bank where you'll find a hammock, fire pit, horseshoe pits and easy access to good wade fishing. There is one large master bedroom with a king bed, a loft with a queen bed, an outdoor Murphy bed, a foldout sofa and a large couch. During winter months and if weather is inclement, eliminating the outdoor bed as a sleeping option, there is room for six folks to sleep in beds indoors.
The Blackfoot River is renowned for its recreational opportunities, most notably fly fishing, but also rafting, canoeing, and inner-tubing. The Blackfoot is a fast, cold river in the spring with many deep spots, making it prime habitat for several varieties of trout. By mid-summer it is warm enough for a refreshing swim. The river is featured in the 1976 novella A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean, as well as the 1992 film adaptation starring Brad Pitt, directed by Robert Redford.
  • The bungalow is spacious, stylish, clean, and full of amenities. We enjoyed the hot tub and watching the bald eagles and big horn sheep across the river. The beds and sofas are super comfy and even listened to some of their old records. We will continue to book the bungalow or casita for all of our trips to Missoula. I can’t say enough good things, we just love it there.

  • Blackfoot Basecamp - wow. Stayed here for month in January 2020. Hiked all over, even did a spot of ice fly fishing in the Blackfoot right by the house. Watched eagles fish almost every day. Saw Big Horn sheep climbing the rockface across the way. Ryan and Caitlin were the best hosts ever. All the tips and suggestions I could ask for. Super easy going. I'll be back here. A lot.

    Doug2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much. Caitlin and Ryan were very helpful and accommodating. The house sits right on the Black Foot river with spectacular views. There was a binder with lots of helpful info/maps, etc in the house and the book selection in the house was amazing (lots of natural history, wilderness survival info, etc), which really added to our stay. Cozy wood stove and places to explore right in the backyard.

  • Great cabin feel and also close to town! Katy and Leif were quick to respond and had everything clean and ready for our stay. We'll be back!

    Heidi2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place has the best little cabin in the woods feel without having to stray too far from the main center of town. You can't beat the comfort of a wood-burning stove! This is our hockey team's second year renting with Katy and Leif and won't be our last!

    Mina2019-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for our short winter escape with family. Great location central to town and lakes and nordic center and backcountry skiing. Love the simplicity, the open design, and all the games. The wood stove is excellent, can really control it. Katy & Leif were excellent in communicating with us on a very last-minute request in holiday season. We'll defiantly be back.

  • Hello, we really loved the cottage. The location is excellent and restaurant recommendations are appreciated. We were in the city for off-road snowmobiling. The cottage is about 10 minutes by car from the parking which leads to the snowmobile trails. We liked the basement with the projector. However, ask for the door access code a few days before. We had never received the information and luckily we met the cleaning people when we arrived. So we had access to the code. Also, there is no internet and no wifi. By cons the place is great and the facilities too. I recommend !

    Guillaume2019-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great Place! Perfect location for riding snowmobiles! Plenty of room for large families or big groups!

  • 9 of us came down for a snowmobile trip, we stay in Seeley numerous times over the winter, and are always looking for new places to stay and experience, especially when our group ranges from 2-10 people depending on the trip. Only issue we had was it was insanely icy from the weather that weekend, and our trailer slipped off of the bank into the trees below the driveway. But the hosts were quick to help us out if we needed. Also, parking is great in the church parking lot, except for Sundays when the Church parking lot fills up quick, so make sure you are out of there and not leaving anything parked there. Over all, the home is massive, pictures do not do this place justice. Hope to stay here again.

    Crystal2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely and hospitable spot! We had more than enough space for the 10 folks that stayed here, and the hosts offered several thoughtful touches, like helpful directions and plenty of towels and blankets. The house was sparkling clean, with a lovely outdoor space.

We were very glad to have found this beautiful place and such welcoming. It was much more then i had expected. Will recommend to friends and plan to rent again for future trips.

Welcome to the Hohnstead! Enjoy effortless star gazing without even lifting your head from the comforts of your own bed. This unique double see-through A-frame design allows for unparalleled views of nature and wildlife and is PET FRIENDLY! Romantic private dining awaits you on your elevated deck, overlooking acres and acres of untouched mountain forest. Feel secluded and relaxed in an outdoor hot tub, while sipping on a glass of a refreshing beverage. Pet fee =$25 for entire stay
In order to reach seclusion, there is a moderate to steep height hill from the parking lot which takes you to your unit. It takes about 1.5 minutes to get to the unit. You should be sure-footed. More images of the property are available @TheHohnstead on Instagram. "The Blind" is OFF GRID and there are certain concessions that we make in order to live on such a beautiful piece of property as this: a) Solar shower facility is available and depends largely on the weather conditions. It is outdoors, which means that THE SHOWER HEATS UP FROM THE SUN. You must be flexible as the sunshine and the weather dictate your ability to take a shower (we understand that it's not for everyone, but that is how we live out here OFF GRID.) b) Bathroom requires a short 1-minute walk UPHILL to an enclosed outdoor bathroom. There is a shared kitchen in the Commons Area, with a fridge, stove, etc as well as WIFI, local info, books, games and seating area for guests to enjoy. Basically, this isn't your Grandad's Howard Johnson chain hotel experience, in this space and on this property you'll be reminded of the simplicity of life, the stillness of nature and the pureness of your routine is dictated by the sun.
Neighborhood ... what neighborhood? This is a family plot of 100+ acres. We do have two other Airbnbs strategically located on the property.
  • A great getaway!!

  • What a unique little gem. The Blind was charming, great for watching sunrises/sunsets. The hot tub was a real plus, it wasn’t too warm when we stayed so that really helped warm us up! Loved the sound of the rain against the room as we snuggled up and read a book with a cup of coffee. Jeff and Donna were amazing hosts!

    Kathleen2019-09-19T00:00:00Z

    Nicholas2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect.

    Tucker2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Words can not describe what a perfect weekend we had once we arrived at Alla and Garrett’s bnb. We were met by Donna and Jeff, the parents of these two. They were so fun and welcoming, they made us feel right at home! I could go on for days about how wonderful they were! The land and the blind bnb were out of this world. All and all very simple. We had been camping for the last 8 days so arriving at the blind was the perfect in between! The space is well built and stunning. You feel like you are camping but I’d definitely call it glamping! We were fortunate to be the only ones there mid week so we got to sit in the hot tub under the stars all night! It was MAGICAL! If you are laid back, love Mother Nature, amazing people, sleeping under the stars than this is the spot for you! If you are high maintenance and need full amenities than you should pick a hotel! Bathroom is shared with other bnbs. But everything feels very private! We will be back many more times. This is a true slice of mountain paradise!

  • Alla and Garrett are great hosts. Fast responses and always helpful! Their property is amazing and it was a great experience spending some time away from civilization! • Everything was as Alla and Garrett said it would be. It was easy to get to despite being off-grid (but their directions to get to it were amazingly detailed and spot-on), and their amenities were as advertised. The view was gorgeous, the Shanty was cute and cozy, and Alla and Garrett provided their guests with all sorts of great information and made us feel super welcome. For those looking for something different from the usual hotel and beautifully nestled among the outdoors, I can’t recommend it enough!

    Kathryn2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Garrett and Alla are the best hosts ever! I've done my share of traveling and can say they are No. 1. They take lots of time showing you around, answering questions, giving tips on local attractions, making sure you are comfortable, and also just very interesting people to visit with. If you have the opportunity to stay at The Shanty, no need to think twice ... just book it! It will be a destination that will stand out in your memory forever. It is a reminder that simplicity really is better. The relaxation you experience at this property doesn't go away when you pull out of the driveway. We'll be back!

  • What a quaint, adorable cabin. It reminds me of A frame cabins in Norther Minnesota. It has all the modern things you might need so no roughing it. Also a well stocked kitchen for cooking and nice grill. It is a great place to relax with a sand beach and close to hiking and also to town. The woods around the cabin is quite magical with deer everywhere.

    Courtney2018-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful visit. The house description and photos are very accurate. The house has a great beach with real sand. The water is pretty shallow off of the beach and was perfect for our little kids. There is ample yard space and a great fire area for evening fires / making s'mores. We would definitely go back!
