  • Amazing place. Definitely recommend Ben's cottage and would use again.

  • Lovely cottage and country stay - very cosy and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beautiful part of the world.

  • We loved our stay at Rowanside. It is a cosy cottage with a nice living room and two bedrooms. The WiFi is great and there was satellite TV. The fire was amazing for keeping warm at night. We used the entire basket of logs left for us over two nights. Highly recommended.

  • Ben’s house is the perfect place to get away from it all, chill out and explore the beautiful countryside, which is literally accessible from the doorstep. The house is warm and inviting, and the real fire is a particular treat, especially after a long walk. Ben was excellent at keeping in touch and supplying lots of useful information. I highly recommend Ben and his charming house!

  • Beautiful little cottage in a lovely area - enjoyed our 2 nights stay and would definitely book again if we were coming back. Cosy place, enjoyed lots of nice walks and a blustery visit to the picturesque St Abb's lighthouse! Ben was very quick to respond to messages and was very helpful to sort out picking up my forgotten bath bag! Thank you for a lovely stay :)

  • Lovely, cosy and comfortable cottage with lots of character indeed. Communication with Ben great. Checkin no problem. Everything perfectly in order and super toasty when we arrived. Had a great stay. 10 out of 10.

  • We rented Ben's Place for a few days in January and weren't disappointed. Finding it was quite straightforward although, as Ben says, it is in a very small hamlet so make sure you have been shopping beforehand. I thought I might be cold at night but a wealth of little extras ensured I wasn't - hot water bottles, log burner and plenty of blankets. The double bed was one of the comfiest I'd slept in. Location is quite beautiful with a babbling stream to the front and lots of birds in the bushes behind. Didn't miss not having phone reception. If you drive to Edinburgh you have to travel across the Lammermuir Hills which are breathtaking by day but not for faint-hearted drivers, particularly at night!

    Samantha2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ben’s cottage is one of those Airbnb’s that make you feel so lucky to have stayed in as a guest. The space itself coupled with the area was really incredible. We had a fantastic time in Longformacus, there’s so much to do nearby either driving or walking. We found plenty of walks around nearby for the dog. Check in was simple, the property was impressively clean and warm when we arrived. The kitchen has everything you could need, we loved the space upstairs and the views of plants and birds from the windows. As other guests have mentioned, crumpets, butter and jam are left which is a really thoughtful touch, as well as hot water bottles, blankets and board games.

  • This place is absolutely stunning. Archie and Maggie were fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome. Even brought us some rosemary from their garden for our Christmas lamb! It was exactly what we needed and so peaceful and restful. Also the hot tub was ready to go when we arrived and that was just perfect. Highly recommend!!

  • A great place to seek serenity and relaxation and allow opportunities to gather and communicate between friends and family. We stayed for a couple of days in winter but the house do its job well to keep us warm and comfy. The hot tub is a highlight and the experience of sipping white wine(thanks Maggie!) in the wide landscape is unbeatable, even under scottish weather.

    Chi Tak2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our second time staying here, but in winter. Was very short notice and in winter, so we had trouble getting the hot tub up to temperature (had no trouble earlier in the year when we booked well in advance). A delightful stay though regardless! A lovely cottage that feels very private with great views! I'm sure we'll be back.

    Iain2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a small piece of heaven. Stunningly beautiful place, thoughtful welcome gifts, amazing hot tub and wood fire, really lovely hosts, and the most magical setting. I would go there every single weekend if I could!

  • We had a lovely, quiet new year’s stay in a Plum Tree cottage. The cottage itself is very cosy, perfect for a romantic couple of days away. The fairy lights made it feel festive, and the view from the bedroom was spectacular! We slept with the door open as we were warm, and it was amazing to be able to look out and see the stars! The wine and chocolates upon arrival were hugely appreciated too! Our request for towels was quickly met by Archie, and we knew where the hosts were should we have needed anything else. Thanks for a lovely trip!

    Emma2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Plum Tree Cottage is set in an absolutely beautiful location, and the cottage itself is lovely and homely. I told Maggie that I was to propose on our stay, so when we arrived she had the fire roaring, 2 bunches of flowers and a bottle of cava on ice for us, which i did not expect at all. We spent the days visiting Smailholm Tower, floors castle and Scott’s View, and the evenings playing board games next to the fire. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect cottage and location. Lots to do in the local area, and fantastic hospitality. Will be sure to visit again.

    Philip2018-11-11T00:00:00Z

Maggie and Archie were great hosts - communication was really good in the lead up to our stay, Archie came to check all was ok when we arrived, and we knew we could contact them if we needed anything during our stay. The cottage is cosy and comfortable, really nicely done. It had everything we needed, and the views from the living room and bedroom are so lovely. We enjoyed relaxing in the cottage and exploring the local area. We would definitely return!

Everything you could need in the flat and spotlessly clean as well as being a really great location for country walks and not too far from some good fishing spots as well as some historic towns. Loved it !,

  • This comfortable home away from home was such a great place to stay in the Scottish Borders! The house had everything you could need to feel relaxed. Although we didn’t need to cook for the one night we stayed, the kitchen was immaculate and had everything you could need. I love that there are some games and plenty of books in case you want to spend a night in. And I really loved the coal stove that kept the tv area toasty warm! It’s only a few doors down from the local village shop and cafe/pub, so food and drink were easy to grab. Amanda was a great host and kept in touch often to make sure we had everything we needed. I would love to stay again if I’m ever in the area!

    Nicole2020-02-06T00:00:00Z

  • This is a stunning cottage - the photos do not do it justice. We stayed with our friends for a long weekend and absolutely loved it. The gardens are great for the dogs to have a run about. The ensuites in both bedrooms were fantastic and made getting ready in the morning so much quicker. Kitchen had all the tools and gadgets you could possibly need as well as a dishwasher and microwave. TV also has Netflix etc if needed. Fantastic base to explore the Borders. Would definitely recommend 😁

  • We absolutely loved staying here - it's beautifully & stylishly decorated and equipped, perfectly located, peaceful, welcoming, and comfortable. It's a real gem of a place and we feel really lucky to have found it. We explored the area, which is so pretty and visited Mellerstain House which was definitely worth it. We also went to The Blackadder pub in the village - great food and service and only a couple of minutes walk away. We will definitely be back to stay as it was perfect!

This comfortable and peaceful one-bedroom annexe is the perfect retreat for a couple. Situated in the pretty conservation village of Gavinton, a few miles outside Duns, the property sits on a 50-acre organic farm. Our annexe is spacious and relaxing, the ideal romantic rural escape. Edinburgh is just 50 mins away and there much to see in the Borders.
With the rapidly developing Coronavirus crisis and an increasing number of people self-isolating, our property could be the perfect escape for those wishing to avoid contact with others potentially infected or self-isolating. Our normal daily life here on the farm is virtually one of self-isolation and days go by when we do not come into contact with anyone, yet still being on the edge of and part of a small village of 300 inhabitants. We have 50 acres of farmland that you can walk around and look at the animals and hear the wildlife, without seeing another soul. Isolated beauty spots, hill walking, quiet beaches and river walks and lots of cycling can also be found around and about our property, again without having to come into close contact with another human. The annexe cottage is self-contained with private parking and its own separate entrance and therefore is ideal for escaping social contact without feeling too isolated from life and human habitation. The annexe cottage is deep cleaned thoroughly after every visit using alcohol and hydrogen peroxide products. This includes cleaning of all door handles and hard surfaces in addition to all kitchen equipment being re-washed after every guest visit. In nearby Duns (less than five minutes by car) there is a superb fresh fish and delicatessen shop, award winning butcher, small Co-op supermarket, pharmacy, newsagents and wine store/ice cream parlour. All of which have continued to be well stocked in spite of the reported panic buying elsewhere. We would also be more than happy to assist with any shopping you may require during your stay if you require it. Our farmhouse annexe has been newly renovated to a high standard. With underfloor heating throughout, Egyptian Cotton bedding and Hungarian goose down pillows, in a tranquil rural environment, we are sure you will sleep well and enjoy your retreat here. We provide guests with complimentary organic free-range eggs, cake, tea/coffee, and milk on arrival. We have bookshelves filled with a selection of books and a number of board games to play. Our living room has an Aromatherapy Humidifier with lavender oil that guests can use throughout their stay. The farmhouse annexe offers a new kitchen with combi oven/grill/microwave, dishwasher, super speed Wifi, and outdoor seating area. Guests can enjoy the beautiful sunrises from the kitchen window (as shown in the photos). The living area has a Smart TV and a cosy wood burning stove with unlimited supply of wood. The bathroom has a powerful shower and bath and we provide soft, white, fluffy towels and lavender and geranium 'Faith in Nature' Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash. We provide maps, local tourist information and a walking route map of our farm. Guests have private off road parking right outside the annexe.
Alexa runs yoga classes at the yoga studio beside the annexe cottage on Mondays 9.45-11am, 6-7pm and Thursdays 6-7pm (£8 per class) which you are welcome to attend if there is space available. • What a wonderful place to stay! From the cake to the fresh eggs, the hospitality was spot on. If you have the chance to take on of Alexas’ yoga classes in the studio next door I’d highly recommended it, it was just what we needed after a long days hike and eased us into sitting by the fire-we can’t wait to stay again.

  • Perfect trip! Thanks guys :)

  • Alexa's place is sparkling clean modern yet homely with all the conveniences you would hope for Wonderfully warm with underfloor heating and if that isn't enough a super cosy wood burning stove in the sittingroom - lovely to cosy up by on a winters day I can highly recommend Alexa's place to other travellers you won't be disappointed

    Margaret2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful mini-break in the Borders. The house was lovely; it had everything we needed with great finishing touches including a very yummy lemon cake on arrival, a well-stacked bookcase, and a cosy woodburner already made up. Alexa runs a yoga class in her studio next door, and kindly managed to fit us into her class at short notice. It was a lovely setting to unwind in.

    Benedict2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little getaway. Everything was pristine, incredibly comfortable bed with high quality bedding, towels and toiletries. There were lots of lovely little touches from the hosts like homemade lemon drizzle cake and fresh eggs from the farm, which all added to the experience. The annex feels much more spacious than it appears on the photos. The living room was really cosy with a wood burning stove and lots of books and boardgames making this a perfect place to relax in the evenings. Great location for cycling and although just over an hour from Edinburgh we felt worlds away from the bustle of the city. We couldn’t have hoped for better hosts and the stay exceeded our expectations. We would recommend to anyone looking for a country retreat!

    Kate2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! We stayed for 2 nights and had the best time relaxing. Alexa and Andrew are the most lovely people and extremely helpful! The farm is beautiful, especially for animal lovers/photographers like myself! Couldn’t recommend this place enough, 10/10!

  • This is an amazing spot and great place to stay! It had everything we needed, wanted and more! The hosts were just brilliant and looked after us very well and even gave us suggestions on what to do and where! They even tried to arrange a few things for us!! The personal touches was a pleasant surprise and felt welcome from the moment we arrived! The farm is also fun to walk and the animals are so friendly!! Thanks guys for an amazing week, we hope to stay in touch!! Wishing you a great 2020!!

  • This place is a little gem! Although I was travelling for work, I took my Aunty and daughter with me so I didn’t have to be away from her (I’m away a lot for work). The flat was immaculate throughout, with a great location in the centre and right by where I needed to visit. Stacey has thought of everything you may need as a guest whilst staying, from local bus routes/times, menus, to shower gels and books! A very comfortable stay, lovely and quiet, modern yet cosy. Could quite happily stay here for a week!! Highly recommend for both business and pleasure!

    Mark2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had never heard of Duns, just wanted to get away for a little break and came across The Yard Hideaway. Couldn't fault it, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, bed was really comfy, shower amazing and the place was really quiet. Just what we needed. Duns itself was really nice, everyone friendly and we will definitely love to stay again. Stacey and Robert were at hand and were great hosts, especially showing us how to work out the TV through your mobile phone. We didn't have a clue ha. Anyone thinking about staying, you won't be disappointed. X

We are within half an hour's drive from the beach and railway stations. You’ll love Stichill Stables because of the views and the peaceful location. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers who have their car. We can also accommodate a child / third person if required. We are in a fairly rural location, the nearest shops, bars and restaurants being approximately four miles away in the town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders.
The cottage has one bedroom, which is located upstairs. The bedroom can be made up as a twin if desired, and could also accommodate a third person if need be. There is also a shower room upstairs. The ground floor is an open plan kitchen and living room. It has high ceilings and is bright and airy. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge/freezer, electric cooker, microwave and washing machine. There is ample parking outside.
  • This was our 4th stay here and we would highly recommend. Lovely hosts and fabulous accommodation. We will be back.

  • Superb accommodation in a Wonderful place…. Almost, very, very nearly perfect … and only not giving a “Perfect” because I couldn’t get a phone service and it would have been helpful to have had WiFi … but we totally understand why you don’t and also, felt very comfortable that if we had of needed emergency services the owners were contactable.. we will definitely be back… Thanks so much Jackie for going that extra mile for us… very much appreciated. • This is a lovely little cottage. One bedroom but a very big bedroom. We had it set up as a twin and slept beautifully. The living area was lovely and cosy with the fire going. Kitchen was perfectly adequate and we cooked in it. Lovely little terrace although was cold to sit out but I imagine it would be lovely on a warmer day. Plenty of books on the book shelf. Would recommend and would go back again.

  • Beautiful, spacious place, perfect for a couple. We stayed for a week and had an amazing time - even got engaged in the front room! Jackie was so helpful and recommended a lovely walk to the nearby Hume Castle which was a pleasure. Great location from which to explore the borders, Northumberland, Berwickshire and East Lothian. Would 100% visit again.

    Tom2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stopped off for a few days on our way to Edinburgh. The cottage was perfect, the location was secluded but only a short drive from the local shops. The whole place was absolutely immaculate. Downstairs has lovely high ceilings and felt very cosy. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Upstairs was very spacious with plenty of storage in the bedroom. Jackie welcomed us on arrival but then we were able to come and go as we wished. We visited Floors Castle and drove out to the beach, the rest of the time we just relaxed with a book or watched a DVD. I would definitely recommend Jackie's place.

    Duns, Scottish Borders, United Kingdom

A large, cosy, west facing room in the basement of a Georgian villa with private wet room. The house is situated in a convenient yet secluded location close to the centre of the small town of Duns. Ideally situated for outdoor pursuits, local wedding venues or exploring the Scottish Borders towns, abbeys and beaches. Please read the description below before booking.
Our guest room has underfloor heating, the private wet room is nearby, across the corridor (we supply bath robes). The large 1930s continental-style bed is made out of two bed frames and has two single duvets, usually arranged together (with a 2 inch gap between the mattrasses) but can be set up apart on request. The mattrasses measure 1mx2m each. We can also supply a cot (please advise at time of booking). A continental breakfast is served upstairs in our large kitchen/diner. Please note we are a busy household with 4 (well- behaved) children aged 9-18, we enjoy meeting new people though and staying with us is an informal affair where guests are treated as part of the family. Our home is close to the wedding venues of Wedderburn Castle (1.8 miles), Duns Castle (0.8 mile) and Manderston House (1.5 miles). Please note that we have been renovating the house for about six years now, doing most of the work ourselves, and some areas may still look a little faded! We are also a TV free zone.
Previous guests have commented that Duns reminds them of small French towns. It has an attractive Market Square with a good variety of shops and cafes. Duns has a vibrant community with events throughout the year. We are involved with a number of local organisations and will be able to advise you on local events if you wish.
  • The Butlers Quarters was a unique place to stay in a Georgian house “below stairs” as would have the Butler been in ages past. The accommodation has been renovated in a period style and furnished accordingly. Excellent separate bathroom facilities across the corridor, with a bath robe supplied. Being a TV free house was an advantage, as the family provided plenty of opportunity to join them around the kitchen table for a chat and a meal. Made to feel very welcome and be part of their cohesive family.

  • Lovely place, lovely family, lovely breakfast!

    James2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay in a warm and hospitable environment. Kathi and family were superlative hosts, welcoming us and our three year old in an easy and relaxed household. The accommodation is a large-ish bedroom in the lower ground floor of an 18th century villa and has a period feel appropriate to the property. Our daughter was particularly delighted with the hens and ducks running around the gardens and the lavish breakfast. Really good value and a great stay.

  • A beautiful place to stay, quiet and hospitable, if we asked for anything the hosts were very helpful and information. We will certainly comeback to this venue, what a delightful find.

Situated in scenic Scottish Borders with easy access to Edinburgh and Berwick. The apartment is self contained within the main farmhouse, with its own entrance, bathroom, kitchen/dining/living room and two bedrooms - one double, one twin with single beds.
Belville farmhouse is a large Victorian stone built house, situated in the glorious Borders countryside with views to the Cheviot hills. There is a working farm close by and in the Spring time you wake up to the sound of bleating lambs! The apartment has been newly renovated to a high standard.
It has lots of scope for rural pursuits including walking, horse riding, and is close to the River Tweed where there are opportunities for fishing. The area is steeped in local history. The annual Common Riding attracts many riders across the Borders and provides a good spectator attraction. There are a number of good pubs and restaurants within easy reach.
  • Really cosy apartment. Lovely touches like bread , shortbread, chocolates and an nespresso machine . Comfy , cosy bed . Lovely quiet and rural location .

  • An absolute gem of a find. Hidden in the countryside of the Scottish Borders is this spotlessly clean and well equipped apartment. Joyce was there to greet us on arrival and couldn't have been nicer. She quickly arranged for a stair gate and a cot for my children, which was greatly appreciated. The 2 bedrooms were spacious and very clean. The beds were extremely comfy. Loved the little extras in the kitchen, coffee machine, bread, milk, eggs, biscuits etc especially the home made jam which was delicous. Overall we loved our stay and highly recommend.

    Lynne2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

You’ll love our place because its a peaceful, countryside setting. Private self catering 2 room annex, now accepting dogs! A comfortable lounge space with small dining table/work space and kitchenette, & a bedroom with en-suite shower room. We can sleep a further 2 guests in the lounge. Courtyard garden with views over owners garden.
A warm welcome awaits you at our rural peaceful farmhouse. The two room suite has a bedroom which can accommodate 2 guests in either a TWIN or SUPERKING arrangement. Off this is the en-suite shower room with double sized power shower. A separate room has lounge with dining/work table, plus kitchenette for preparation of meals, or for just serving up a take away. Lounge is equipped with freeview TV/DVD and a selection of films, electric stove for some additional heating, some board games and a small bookshelf. We can also accommodate a further 2 guests in the lounge on the small double sofa bed, however please note access to the shower room/toilet is only through the main bedroom. Free Wi-fi is available, however we are furthest from the exchange so speed can be variable! So why not get away from it all, and come and enjoy a few days of rural tranquility. Lovely walks direct from the farmhouse. Kelso has many privately owned shops, and recently a 'micro brewery' has opened in the town, although drinking laws have now become stricter in Scotland so a taxi may be required, i can provide a number for a chap in the village. There is a wide variety of things to do locally from the energetic mountain bikers, or the walkers to those looking for a bit of down time, or if you are attending a local sporting event, ie the rugby or racing at Kelso or at a wedding at one of the fabulous local venues, we are ideally placed to serve you.
The farmhouse is approx 6 miles from Kelso town, and 2 miles from the village of Hume. We are up on a hill adjacent to 'Hareheugh Craigs' a site of special scientific interest. This can be walked up comfortably from the farm and affords a 360o view of the borders area, almost as far as the east coast on a fine day. The closest shops are in Kelso. The local supermarket is Sainsburys, and they deliver to us. Further afield are Tesco and Asda both of whom deliver to us. The town has many fine independent shops, bakers, butchers, craft beer and many restaurants and pubs.
  • A lovely little bolt hole just a short drive from Kelso. Perfect for one or two people this little annex has everything you need for a short stay. The beautiful view and characterful geese are a lovely bonus! Would highly recommend and I hope to be back.

The place was stocked with some basic items (tea, coffee, cereals, bread, milk), which helped on our arrival for sure. Comfortable and spacious place for 4. • One of the best value stays we have had via AirBnB. Plenty of space, great location and a good host. There is some risk of noise from the square (we had 1 quiet night and 1 disturbed sleep night) depending on what is on locally. You could possibly move to one of the back bedrooms further from the square in any case, several to choose from. Very friendly local village, co-op just out the back, pub and cafes a few steps away. Home of the Jim Clark museum, a worthy visit.

Azalea Cottage overlooks both Duns Castle Estate’s private nature reserve, frequented by Swans, Ducks and other wildfowl, and Duns Law, site of the old town of Duns and the Covenanter Fort. Today, cattle and sheep are often to be seen grazing upon its slopes. Azalea also sits on the edge of woodland, with access to extensive forest trails and a large variety of mature trees, many bearing identification plates to inspire the curious. The woods are home to Roe Deer, Pheasants, Squirrels and Owls. The cottage itself is easily accessible, yet secluded and guests can often enjoy starlit nights and bathe in the tranquillity of it all.
In addition to local Trout and Salmon fishing, there is much to see and do locally. There are golf courses suited to every style and level, secluded sandy beaches within 30 minutes drive, horse-riding, quad-biking and much more. Guests may also wish to visit local landmarks such as Abbotsford House (the home of Sir Walter Scott) and other stately homes such as Manderston House and Floors Castle, explore neighbouring market towns of Kelso, Melrose, Jedburgh or Hawick (famous for Cashmere) or arrange a tour of Glenkinchie Distillery or Rosslyn Chapel (made famous in Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code). There are always many local cultural events taking place, including Reivers Week in July, The Duns Show in early August and the Borders Heritage Festival in September. With all of this and Edinburgh's famous International Festivals and Hogmanay celebrations, guests are spoiled for choice.

  • Kate and Andrew are the perfect hosts! They welcomed us with open arms and coffee/tea with cookies! They went out of their way to give us a good time, Andrew even gave us a lift to a pub around dinnertime. Breakfast was outstanding and it came with a great view of the country side. All in all a perfect experience.

  • Kate and Andy are fantastic hosts, going above and beyond what I would ever expect from a host, to make sure we had the best stay possible. Their home is wonderful and they do a fantastic breakfast, which might have just saved my life that morning (I was incredibly hungover, having been to a wedding the night before). Could not recommend them enough.

  • This is a delightful cottage in a most beautiful setting, and it is incredibly peaceful with the advantage of also being within 10 minutes of Sainsbury’s, and extremely convenient for many of the lovely places that you might want to visit in the Borders. Maggie and Archie are lovely people, and I would find it hard to imagine why anyone would not enjoy a break here!! One thing I noticed that didn’t match the description of the Cottage, it doesn’t say that there is a dishwasher and I’m delighted to say that there is!!

  • This was the third time we have stayed at Plum Braes cottages since the Autumn. Although we were in the Kelso area due to difficult circumstances with elder family members, we have very much appreciated and enjoyed our time there. It is such a lovely, peaceful part of the world. This time was particularly special because it was lambing season and the surrounding countryside was so full of life with the spring blooms and green fields a lovely prospect from the cottage windows and patio. The accommodation was perfect, a refuge, to return to at the end of the day. While the cottages fit so well with the surrounding countryside in terms of their historic and contemporary farming environment, the facilities are modern and all one needs for nice stay, whether short or long. We slept very well in the comfortable beds. We will definitely look forward to another chance to stay at the Plum Braes Barns, hopefully under happier circumstances.

  • Really appreciated Heather's support when were struggling to work through the Booking process for the 1st time. Useful and quick responses really helped. Directions were offered and a boon. Lovely to put a face to a name when meeting Heather on our arrival, and that she had thoughtfully lit the fire which was much appreciated after our long, wet journey. Communication was consistent throughout our stay with a minor glitch about our leaving date which was quickly resolved. Lovely, quirky space with a big character that felt homely but spacious. (bigger in reality than on the pics) Interesting decor and artwork, husband really loved the driftwood picture frames. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of tea towels, matches, tealights etc and every tool you could possibly need.Comfy bed, great shower (clean towels left for our use) Fantastic base for wonderful memory making day trips. We visited Berwick Upon Tweed, Lindisfarne (great for seaglass collecting), Bamburgh Castle/beach, Coldstream and Hirsel Estate, Duns Castle, The Whiteadder River...Friendly neighbours who showed (along with Heather) great concern for our dog who was injured on a walk (treated professionally and with care by the local vets) Would definitely love to return to this wonderful, cosy Scottish hideaway!

  • Heather's place was much better than I expected. It was quite comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed the large the space and the thoughtful touches. Heather started a fire for us upon arrival, and there was a notebook about local attractions and amenities. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and will likely stay again when we come back to the area.

  • A fabulous place with a lovely homely atmosphere. Very spacious and equipped with everything you could need. |A warm welcome from Heather and all the neighbours were very friendly. Excellent value for money

    Maddie2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful find! Exactly what I wanted surrounded by open countryside (but near a town) and a nearby river with a beautiful little garden. Very comfortable bed and everything you could wish for was provided.

  • Incredible value for money. Heather’s place is extremely well equipped, spacious and homely. We fell in love with the place , the little garden and the space surrounding the cottages was ideal for the dog. The fact that it was a little way out from the nearest village didn’t matter with a car. Friendly helpful neighbours and advice from Heather made discovering the local area more enjoyable. Heather easy to contact and even though we were a bit late arriving key handover was no problem at all. Phone signal good in property and use of dongle for WiFi although we didn’t need it Satnav as Heather warned us is a bit hit and miss so directions Heather sent were useful Recommend this property wholeheartedly and will be back if time permits. Thank you Heather.

  • This is a real gem. There is so much space and location is fabulous. The description really undersells the place. We loved exploring a new area.
