Places to stay in Greenfield

Places to stay in Greenfield
Our older, well loved home is centrally located a short walk from downtown Greenfield. It is the perfect spot to stay on your trip through the Berkshires as we are less than 5 minutes off of I 91 and route 2. We are 7 minutes from local boarding schools, and 25 minutes from the 5 colleges in Amherst and Northampton. Restaurants, great views, music, and family-friendly activities are nearby. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
A clean, private, and charming 2 bedroom apartment with large windows for a picturesque tree top view. It is spacious and has lots of light. The apartment has a private entrance via exterior stairs. Please note it is on the 3rd floor. We happily keep it stocked with breakfast items, coffee, tea, and fruit.
Our location is great because we are in a family friendly and outdoor adventure hub. We have the convenience of in town living, such as a 24 hour CVS, and laundromat around the corner. We have great local restaurants, a movie theatre, canoeing, and a brand new skate park, all within a 15 minute radius!
  • Fantastic place. Super cozy living room with so much sunlight. Very clean with all of the nice extra touches like coffee, tea, and fresh orange juice in the fridge.

  • This was our second time staying at Sarah’s over Thanksgiving weekend with family in Greenfield. We love this place, but especially Sarah who works hard and is so kind. The apartment is warm and welcoming, with everything you could want. We especially appreciate the lovely retro pink and black bathroom with tons of useful supplies, and a well-stocked kitchen. The apartment has a separate, private entrance up several outdoor staircases, so older folks or those who have trouble with stairs might be challenged.

  • Very cute apartment. I'd live there myself! Close to the main st. My friend and I stayed there for one night and were very comfortable. I would stay again.

There's an excellent bakery at the end of the street, and it is a short walk to the Shea Theater, bus stops, the Ct. River, bike trail, shopping, world-class concrete skate park, great restaurants and night life, grocery store, bank. Half an hour to the cultural centers of Northampton, Amherst, and Brattleboro, as well as scenic areas along the Mohawk Trail. Ten minutes from Greenfield. If you love a funky, creative and eclectic bohemian environment, you will love it here!
This is an old house and full of art objects and colorful, funky style. It can be a bit drafty in winter. It has high ceilings and plaster walls, so will tend to be dustier than a modern house. Nevertheless, people find it very comfortable, and interesting, to visit here! As far as stays longer than one week, I prefer to meet you first before committing to such an arrangement, unless there are exceptional circumstances which we will work out together in advance. Please contact me with your request.
The Central Street neighborhood is very diverse. It is one block up on the Hill above the downtown. There are triple decker apartment buildings, single family homes of varying vintage from the 1870s to the 1930s, and a headstart preschool in an old school building. In this neighborhood are published authors and poets, experimental musicians, single mothers and children, business people, people with disabilities in group housing, artists, bikers, and all types of people. Generally this is a quiet street and people are friendly. It is very convenient to all of the town, parks, river, bike path and the great new skate park with concrete bowl!
  • Warm and cozy and clean :)

  • James is an incredible host. We stayed here last year to check out the local winter festival. Incredible place, so clean, awesome location. We had planned to come back this year but the kids and my wife all got the flu. He was so understanding. Such a nice person! We plan to come back every year, and we are so sad to have missed this one.

  • Excellent and clean Front door goes up to apartment.

    John Marcia2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was perfect for my family of 4 plus 2 dogs. We stayed for 4 nights in January. Each of my girls claimed their own bedroom upon arrival and enjoyed their space to chill out after skiing at Berkshire East each day. The spacious apartment was renovated beautifully but they kept the historic features like the exposed brick wall leading to the top floor. Lot's of whimsical art and antiques make this apartment feel like home. Our dogs were able to come and were right at home. We enjoyed walking them up the hill to see the beautiful Victorian homes in the High St. neighborhood. James suggested The Rendezvous and it was the perfect family restaurant right down the street. My husband and I enjoyed trying several of the local small craft brewery beers which were available at the grocery and convenience stores. We didn't have much time to check out Turners Falls but we plan on going back to explore and can't imagine staying anywhere else:)

This super tidy, bright bungalow is a short drive to excellent food, coffee and music in downtown Greenfield and Turners Falls. The house is on a sweet, quiet street; neighbors are close by but the property feels very private. We love this spot because of its proximity to town but also to beautiful hiking trails, glorious swimming holes and the hills of southern Vermont. It's also convenient if you're in the area to visit private schools or the five colleges.
This house is only used occasionally by Kristi's mom, who has a very high standard for cleanliness and order. So the space is exceptionally neat, uncluttered and comfortable but also kid-friendly, because when she's here she is often hosting our three young children. It's an open layout, super efficient and cozy. The beds and linens are new and many guests have said the king mattress was the most comfortable thing they've ever slept on. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics you'll need for cooking, as well as a variety of teas and coffee.
  • It has great amenities. For anyone visiting when it's cold the place heats up quickly.

    Georgia2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable house, conveniently located on the edge of downtown Greenfield, near Route 2 and I-91. Hosts were great with communication and made some gracious accommodations to make our stay easier. Bonus was that there were some puzzles and other items for our toddler.

  • Exactly as described. Very clean and easy to locate. Great communication with the hosts. Perfect for a family traveling. Loved how they set out kids books and toys along with the high chair and pack 'n' play for us. If we are back in the area again, we'll definitely check out this spot.

  • Enjoyed my single room at Edite's house. The location was great, the house full of interesting artistic elements, the bookshelves full of very interesting books. The room was cozy and warm and I had no difficulties sharing the bathroom. She showed me several kinds of good tea and some good coffee in the kitchen I was free to avail myself of. She was friendly, but as I keep to myself, she was thoroughly respectful of my privacy and space. Enjoyed her hip and artistic vibe in a very fun town.

Our studio space (250 sq ft) is separate from the main house and located on the outskirts of Greenfield MA. The location provides easy access to downtown, restaurants, shopping areas and Interstate 91. Modern decor, tiled artsy bathroom and sweeping views of Berkshire foothills make this a great choice for foliage season, summer recreation and choice winter skiing. Our house is 90 miles west of Boston, 60 miles north of Hartford and a 3-hour drive from the Canadian border.
Walk-in shower, 32 inch TV with Chromecast, high-speed WiFi, refrigerator, microwave, coffee/espresso/tea and lots of nice details in this living space. Full climate control with heating & cooling mini-split. The guest house does not have a full kitchen so we share this space as requested.
Our house is located in the rural section of Greenfield, about a mile from bucolic Greenfield Community College, the host of the annual Green River Festival. You need a car to stay in this location -- there is no public transportation or Uber service.
  • I was in the area for work, I spent about 4 to 5 weeks there, it was clean, and very quiet, anytime I’m in the area for work I will definitely be looking JJ and Sandy up and see if the place is available. And I was very happy to meet Ginger dog.

Host is a worldly working artist, writer, collector, gardener. Home is filled with art and objects of interest.
Cottage is located in the heart of the village yet is private and quiet. Set back from the Avenue by gardens and sheltered by mature trees. Abundant nature, good hikes, skiing, live music within few minutes walk or drive. Borrow a bike from host to roam about the village and bike path.
  • Creative, cozy, clean, and centrally-located. Edite was a great host with good communication. Her place has tons of character! I would happily stay again.

  • Edite's home is like an art museum -- unexpected little finds nestled in corners. Unique. She's kind and thoughtful too.

    Sandy Kalik2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Edite's utterly charming home is warm & inviting and filled with curiosities and personal touches. Plus she is a very generous & thoughtful Host who provided me with Local Maps of the area/ Bus schedules & hand-written suggestions of places to see & things to do in the surrounding neighbourhoods ! The location of her home is literally STEPS away from main thoroughfare and all of the wonderful antique shops along Avenue A. My only regret is that my amazing stay wasn't a week longer ! ...I cannot wait to return !!! Mitchell Kezin (filmmaker from Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA)

  • Very stylish, clean and located just out of town! It was close to Greenfield, and Montague which allowed us to walk around town and spend sometime at the Bookmill and the Poet’s seat Trail!

    Eden2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Crystal’s private guest suite is absolutely amazing! It was the perfect space to relax in (we loved the style and took notes for our own home) and Montague is such a quaint town to explore. We especially loved the Book Mill. Crystal was an excellent host and the coffee in the suite was super appreciated!

    Ohan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

The Swanery is a charming house on the CT river. It's walking distance to Turners Falls, ten minutes from Greenfield, 20 minutes from Brattleboro VT, and 30 minutes from Northampton. You get the upstairs to yourself! 2 bedrooms, living room w/TV, bathroom. Front bedroom has a lovely view of the river and the Turners Falls bridge. Living here are 2 very friendly cats and 1 extremely friendly dog who LOVES other dogs. The yard is entirely fenced in so dogs can run free.
A cross between a California Bungalow and a New England farm house, the house is beautiful and rustic. Guests have the upstairs to themselves (only the sitting room, which is attached to the guests' private bathroom, has some of the host's belongings.) The upstairs bathroom is small & difficult to photograph, but it contains a toilet, sink and shower and it is entirely private. Guests may share the large kitchen, music room and living room (with lots of sun and a picture window looking out over the river) and the large front porch. Laundry is available although guests must notify the host before using the dryer, as it is in a private space. The kitchen is large and beautiful. There's a music room with a piano and various other instruments. It looks out over the river (and the driveway.) An attached living room has couches and a large picture window looking out over the river, and... at 5pm it's the doggie parade! Everyone in the neighborhood walks their dogs past the house and it is fun to watch them. Constructive feedback (there is a suggestion book and a guest book) is always appreciated. The Swanery is always, and always will be, a work in progress. If you return you will likely see some of your own suggestions implemented! Small improvements are always in the works.
The Swanery is in a quiet little neighborhood of Gill, MA called Riverside. Down the road and around the bend is Barton Cove, a state park where you can rent boats and admire all sorts of waterfowl, and sometimes a beaver. Up the road the other way is the beautiful Turners Falls bridge, which crosses over the dam. The falls (and the house!) are viewable from the bridge. It's an easy walk or a two-minute drive to the burgeoning arts community of Turners Falls.
  • Jenna and Inara were wonderful hosts. The Swanery is one of a kind. We loved the coffee in the morning, the great views from the windows and the great VHS collection.

    Laurie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jenna's place was exactly as advertised. Very clean and comfortable. Great location and I felt relaxed staying.

    Mark2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for our needs. We were on our way through and needed a quick place to stay for the night. Jenna was friendly and helpful. Cute, funky place. Very comfortable. Great old wood floors. Nice view of the water, and heard the swans and ducks from our room. No smelly dryer sheets on the linens (which I greatly appreciate!) Friendly cats who would have probably been happy to sleep with us if we let them. Great place for a family. I would definitely stay there again.

    Victoria2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jenna was very helpful. Thanks to her understanding it made it possible for us to bring our dog on a trip. This house is so rad. It's across the street from the river. A great view. In the winter the house was warm. It would be amazing to chill here again.

    Hector2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jenna’s place is very unique, charming, and very welcoming. We arrived in late and had to leave early in the morning so we haven’t been able to enjoy the amenities as much as I wanted to because her space is awesome. The house was all lit up for us and bedrooms were warm, which was much appreciated in this Winter night. Charlie the cat is super friendly, rooms are very cosy, and bathroom super clean, with extra toothpaste and everything you need. Thank you, Jenna, for making it nice and easy for us to stay at your place!

    Juan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jenna’s home exceeded expectation. My dog & I stayed for 3 nights, and will be back next time we’re in town. Great location: quiet & private, while close to anything one may need. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the view of the river is quite lovely. Jenna’s hospitality is outstanding, thank you!

    Karen2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The place was so much more than I was expecting. The bedrooms upstairs were far more than adequate for my daughter and I. Also included but I don’t think mentioned was a fairly private living room upstairs. The decor was cool and the view not too shabby. Jenna, our host was fantastic, responsive and a pleasure to be around. Although not a cat person, the two cats totally won me over and her dog is an absolute joy as well.

    Aaron2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best airbnbs any of us have stayed in. Great space, location, pets, and hospitality. Perfect for a Friday night out at the Greenfield Contra Dance.

The Blue Room, in a lovely 4 bedroom Victorian home, blocks from downtown. Relax on the porch swing, or in the back yard. Kitchen is available, with basic amenities. Coffee and tea are self-serve, with light breakfast. A shared full bath, and 1/2 bath downstairs. The bed is a comfy soft foam topper resting on a futon . This house is older, funky/artsy, not fancy, and you will be sharing the space with my 21 year-old daughter and another young woman, both of whom come and go quietly and late.
This home has spacious common areas, and a large backyard.

Bright comfortable guest suite just blocks from lively downtown, yet quiet, private, and easy to park. The suite has one bedroom, one living room, and one bath; firm queen size mattress, crisp clean linens, Apple TV ready for your Netflix login, excellent high-speed wireless, private deck, and mini-kitchenette stocked with coffee & tea. You'll park in the rear of the house, and enjoy total privacy with your own entrance, key-code entry door; come and go as you please.
The guest suite is a completely private space attached to the rear of our home. It is a 2-room suite; ideal if one person likes to sleep in and another is an early bird. Perfectly suited for 2 people, but a 3rd (child or teen) can be accommodated on the sofa (not a pull-out) or an airbed - do let us know if you have a 3rd guest and we can provide extra bedding. Please note we live in the front of the house and we have two dogs who may notice your arrival and bark briefly - please excuse the disturbance.
We are located near the heart of downtown, just a 2-block walk to all that Greenfield has to offer: live music venues, art galleries, shops and great breweries and restaurants (check out Greenfield Coffee or Shelburne Falls Coffee for a great cup of coffee; and Magpie, Hope and Olive, People's Pint, or Thai Blue Ginger for an excellent meal. Happy to suggest others). The suite is perfect for guests coming into town for nearby musical festivals and events, visiting one of the local colleges (UMass and Smith are a short, easy, beautiful drive away), exploring winter sports at nearby resorts and parks, leaf peeping, or if you just want to get away and explore the "other side" of Massachusetts!

A two level loft apartment walking distance to Shelburne Falls. Private, simple, unique, cute, and efficient. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet with the notable exception of a nearby train intersection. 4-6 times in a given 24 hour period there'll be a loud train whistle. Please see Covid-19 update in "Other things to note..."
This space is most comfortable for one or two people. There is a spare bed which I will set up upon request so that a third person may be added. The Apartment has an open ceiling in the kitchen area and a winding stair leading to the living and sleeping area. The upstairs has three different levels: one exiting to the back deck, one a reading area, and the third level is the television area. (In the event that the memory foam mattress needs to be set up it will be in the TV area of the apartment.) The Queen size bed is on the floor but from the 1st level height it will feel like a normal height bed. Ceilings are low on the 2nd floor...watch your head... Kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, etc.... There are some basic food items like olive oil, butter, eggs, 1/2 and 1/2, tea, coffee, cereal/oatmeal, and so on. On the back deck you'll find a small grille and in the tree line I have steel fire ring for an evening fire (wood provided).
Shelburne Falls is a quaint town. There are several restaurants in town and easy access to museums, hiking, mountain biking, etc... There is a laundromat about a 5 minute drive from here and a natural food store the same distance (4 minute drive).
  • Justin was very thoughtful with his communication! He messaged to reassure us that everything would be extra clean amid the Corona virus outbreak. We enjoyed the tips he suggested and I even bought some of the glasses he keeps in the loft from local artists! Thank you for a wonderful stay! Rebecca

  • Wonderful, lovely space for 1-2 people, very clean! Very comfortable! Extra touches of organic food on the shelves and in the refrigerator. Great location - 10 min. walk to downtown.

  • We had a wonderful time at Justin’s place. We just stayed for the night, but would’ve loved to stay longer. The place is super cozy and cute, close to all the whole spots in town. Justin also provides quite a few food staples which is very generous we made a nice breakfast, and he gave some great advice. good hikes in the area!

  • My boyfriend and I planned a two week snowboarding trip. This was our second stop, and we stayed one night. As home renovators, we loved the design and thoughtful features throughout this little apartment. Nice glassware, an assortment of teas, and coffee are available. The host was quick to respond to my messages. The only negative I would say is the incredibly tiny bathroom sink that was virtually unusable. We used the kitchen sink to brush our teeth and perform our facial hygiene. Also, there is not a washer and dryer present within the apartment (just an FYI).

    Cat2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific overnight stay at Justin's place. Snug, clean, and simple. A perfect spot from which to launch our ski day.

    Janel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing place to stay!

    Joshua2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The space was very cute. I chose it because I liked the loft and it was exactly what I expected it to be. There was local/organic food in the kitchen area, which was a very thoughtful touch. Justin has snowshoes outside which we did not use but I thought was a cute idea. It is walkable to the downtown area. I would return here for another trip.

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. Justin truly thought of everything: from food and coffee in the kitchen to extra blankets and pillows in the bedroom. Super cozy, comfy place. Thanks Justin!

Experience farm life at our secluded permaculture homestead. Cozy, clean and comfortable and just across the street from the animal barn which houses our horses, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens and livestock guardian dog (all super friendly and VERY into cuddles). Conveniently located just minutes from Amherst town center (4 miles). A perfect woodland getaway with easy access to the Robert Frost Trail and Metacomet Monadnock Trail.
Our farm is located on a quiet, rural dirt road, surrounded by forest and edged by a babbling brook. Here, my mother and I, as well as a crew of seasonal interns, work to realize a vision for our 13 acres in which the land both provides for our survival needs and is made healthier in the process. You can help support this vision by staying with us! Built in 1812, our farm house is rustic, though well kept. The bedroom itself is separate from the other downstairs living spaces and has a private feel. Our friendly flat coat retriever, Oscar, though an outdoor dog, will greet you as you arrive. Our Border collie, Elka, and Havanese, Pumpkin, spend their nights inside and will happily snuggle you by the fire in the evenings. Clearly, being an animal lover is a must for this farm stay.
We are a 5 min drive from Cushman Market and Cafe. There are also many miles of hiking trails that are accessible through our backyard.
  • Such a lovely place! Relaxing, filled to the brim with interesting books, and home to several very friendly dogs. This homestead is nestled on a quiet backroad and within walking distance to the Robert Frost trail. Zoe and family made me feel welcome, and I will definitely be back when I’m in the area!

    Michelle2020-03-10T00:00:00Z

Couldn't have asked for a better place to have a bit of respite. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and the animals were lovely. Would love to come stay again.

One of the few stays in the area accessible by a private entrance, it includes a bedroom with queen size pillowtop bed, private bathroom with a walk-in shower, guest-controlled heat/air conditioning, and a countertop workspace for eating or getting work done. The separate eat/work area includes a microwave, refrigerator, hotpot, coffee maker, dishware, utensils, tea and coffee. Iron and board, extra blankets, and a fan are also available. There is no smoking in the suite.
Nestled under a hundred-year old maple, this non-smoking suite invites you to snuggle in with a fresh cup of coffee and a good book from the many provided while the leaves or snow falls outside. A private entrance limits the need to check in with your host should peace and quiet be what you're looking for. Enjoy your own private bathroom and free parking right outside your door.

    Lee2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I always hope Pam's place is available when I go to Greenfield!

    Beth2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden gem! We were looking for a place over the holidays when visiting my sister's home nearby. She found Pam's place for us and we are so glad she did! It is located in a quiet neighborhood, very close to 91 and Rt. 2. It feels like you are in farm country, yet GCC and the town are a quick 5 minute drive away. The space is lovely, with a bed guaranteed to provide a restful sleep. Believe the pictures! As we spent most of our time at my sister's, we did not really explore the amenities provided until just before checking out. We found plenty of thoughtful touches we will take advantage of on our next visit. Pam is a thoughtful hostess, checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. What an oasis in the holiday craziness!

    Sarah2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Pam's place is a great oasis for a visit to the Greenfield area. Everything is clean, new, and comfortable. I rented it for 3 nights for my parent's instead of a hotel, and it was everything they needed - quiet, comfortable, with a large, beautiful bathroom with its own heater, which they loved. Centrally located and in a quiet neighborhood. I would definitely rent it for them again.

    Laura2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot that we love to return to. Best place in Greenfield!

    Beth2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, small, but at a friendly price. Very clean and nicely decorated. Convenient to have the mini fridge and microwave. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Very comfy bed and very nice lighting. ....good books here but not enough time to read them. !

    Kristina2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a charming suite that felt tucked away yet still close to town, literally a two-minute drive to the nearest grocery store. It was very easy to check in and out, Pam was super easy to communicate with and quick to respond. It was quiet, safe, and the bed and covers were super comfortable. We had a very comfortable place to go back to after attending wedding parties in a nearby town.

Easily accessible to major highways yet neighborhood is quiet and right on the river (Barton Cove). Enjoy all the perks of a furnished apartment instead of limitations at hotels!
Quiet. Great to take a walk around or great to walk over the bridge into Turners Falls. Close to bike path and if you take a stroll down the street you can enjoy the view or fish off of the concrete slab.
  • A sweet, homey space in a scenic area! Jenna was very easy to communicate with. We were worried there wouldn’t be much around, but there are lovely spots within a 10-minute radius. Internet may seem spotty, but that is true of the entire area.

    Chloe2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience staying at Jenna’s place. It had everything that we needed and the location was perfect. It is located right across the road from the river and the view when you step outside it great. Jenna was very quick to respond to any of our questions.

  • A wonderful place to stay!

    Christopher2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jenna's apartment is exactly as listed. It was comfortable and cozy. The location was beautiful being right on the Connecticut River. It was a 10 minute walk across the bridge to downtown Turner's Falls and a short drive to downtown Greenfield. Jenna was fantastic. She reached out to me a week prior to see when I was planning to arrive so she could have everything ready. She was also thoughtful enough to ask about allergies when using cleaning products. Thank you! Would definately stay here again.

A cozy country home, we're surrounded by hay fields with big sky and beautiful views with many amenities nearby. Conveniently located 1 mile off Route 91, with easy access to points north (Brattleboro, VT, 15 minutes) and points south (Northampton, MA, 40 minutes). We welcome all walks of life and we are 420 friendly. Please read the listing details for more information.
Our quaint and cozy dormer cape farmhouse was built in 1930 and is surrounded by several acres of hay fields, with a majestic line of sugar maples facing the street. With beautiful surroundings throughout the year, we’re within a 5 to 50 minute drive from places for: biking, hiking, fishing, boating, skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, as well as museums, first-rate restaurants and shopping. During the growing season there is a variety of organically grown berries and fruit available for sale from our garden, as well as freshly made jams, fruit syrups and other preserves year-round. In warm weather, sit out on the arbor-deck in the garden and enjoy beautiful views and sunsets, enjoy a meal or stargaze. Relax on the front porch and enjoy the neighbors’ draft horses and cows across the street. In cold weather we often have our old-fashioned cookstove going, which we use for cooking and baking, as well as a source of heat, and you can relax and read, watch TV, cable or a DVD, or just enjoy the warmth of the stove. Please note that while we are happy to have you enjoy it, we must ask that guests not use the cookstove when we're not home. We’re in a quiet, safe neighborhood; the elementary school is a half mile away and the police station only a mile away. It’s a ten minute drive to a full-size grocery store and twelve minutes to the Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Michael and I are discreet, laid-back hosts, and we try to accommodate schedules as best we can. If at all possible we would like you to check in by 9 pm and check out by noon, but with advance notice we can adjust our time requests. We are happy to work out other arrangements if possible when you let us know in advance.
Bernardston is a small town, about 2000 people. Farms abound, so scenery is pastoral and idyllic. For such a small town, we have quite a few amenities within a 20-minute walk or 1 mile drive to downtown Bernardston, which has: a bakery, diner, art gallery, two pizza and sandwich shops, a deli, convenience store, Dunkin’ Donuts, gas station and the lovely little Cushman library. If you walk in the opposite direction, it’s 15 minutes to Kringle Candle and The Farm Table restaurant, as well as the TownLine Creamie, a seasonal food and soft-serve ice cream stand. From our town website: "Bernardston is a small rural town in western Massachusetts, located in north central Franklin County, on the border between Massachusetts and Vermont. The town is 23.4 square miles in area, with a population of approximately 2100. The town enjoys an Open Town Meeting form of government, with a three member Board of Selectmen." Great location has own half bath, fireplace and private entrance. The downstairs is handicap accessable but no shower. There is a microwave and small refrigerator in this room. There is plenty of room for a crib or air mattress.
The house is situated on the Saw Mill river. It is surrounded by woods. We are ten minutes from Umass Amherst and ten minutes from Greenfield. The Montigue BookMill is a great place to have coffee. The Robert Frost trail is up behind the property as well as two major State parks. We are on the National Historic Byway.
  • Being our very first experience with Airbnb we weren't sure what to expect from any rental we choose. Elaine's accommodations and laid back hospitality exceeded our expectations and made the whole experience positive. The room and half bath were sparkling clean and private, the bed very comfy, the location and setting peaceful and a perfect location for our purposes. The Montague area is one of the best locales Western MA has to offer - out in the country yet convenient to all surrpunding hotspots. Would highly recommend and certainly return. Be sure to visit the Montague Book Mill (which is right around the corner) !

  • Elaine was great! She communicated everything clearly and was there if we had any questions. The place was in a nice, quiet location near the Montague Book Mill and the space itself was very private. Would highly recommend!

  • Elaine is a very sweet host. The place was clean and beautiful. It’s better to get there earlier in the day as it’s a bit tucked away and hard to see in the dark. But the house and room are great and Elaine was very welcoming.

  • Elaine’s place was great. We spent just one night there with our six month old daughter, but Elaine was friendly, welcoming and attentive. She fosters community between the guests and we shared a nice breakfast with a family from Germany. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Be sure to check out the Book Mill nearby.

  • Was in the area to visit a school this weekend with my son. Elaine’s place was an excellent choice. Perfect location. Big (a lot more than just “a room in a house”). We stayed in a basement room - almost a bachelor suite! Super clean. Comfy beds. Beautiful property. We would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the large rural property. And I’d definitely stay there again when we’re back in the area. I highly recommend it. Really - book it quick - before its unavailable. Thank you Elaine! Merci... Jon

  • Very lovely home in a great location. The room is as described, clean and comfortable. It is in a shared home but still feels very private. However, there were no instructions or information regarding the kitchen so even though it's listed as a shared kitchen I did not feel comfortable to use anything. Would recommend and would return!

    Ally2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • I had an excellent stay at Elaine’s place! I didn’t expect it to be as private and comfortable as it was. And her quick responses to my questions was very much appreciated. The house was in a perfect location for a wedding I was attending at the Montague Retreat Center, which was only 1.4 miles away. Would love to stay again!

  • Annie’s Place was fantastic! The place was very clean, modern, had everything we needed to feel at home, and was an easy walk to all the local shops and restaurants! Cathy was very accommodating and quick to respond during the check-in and check-out process. I 100% recommend a stay here!

  • a peaceful serene place, so quiet and comfortable, even has ability to play CDs which most places to my understanding do not have.......it is really lovely and special staying at Annies Place.....Named after Cathy's late mother in law, I believe that the real Annie would have been beyond proud of how the space is being utilized at this time...Enjoy!!!!

  • The pictures don't do justice! This place is gorgeously preserved and restored historic home. It was a lot larger than we expected. We stayed with another family and their child and it was perfect for us. We each had two adjacent bedrooms and a bath on the front and back side of the house. We even had different stair cases to access our portion of the house. We enjoyed playing music in the front parlor at night while the kids hung out in the cozy den with the gas stove. The kitchen was also fun to hang in while we cooked meals:) Possibly the best part of this house was the beds! Everyone loved the mattresses which Martina told us were purchased locally. Martina was an excellent host, she greeted us in person and told us a bit about the house and was quick to respond to any questions vis text! We will definitely be coming back!

  • We stayed for a parents’ weekend at one of the schools nearby, and the location of this house cannot be beat. It’s also a very large house that is cozy in the winter. Check in was super easy and the host came by on the first day to make sure that we were settled in. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay!

    Howard2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at this house and would definitely stay there again. Martina was also very responsive to any questions we had.

  • This place is really a treat. My husband, my parents, and I were all in town for a family gathering. We needed a place big enough to keep us out from under each other's feet and this place was perfect. Very large, comfortable bedrooms for getting some recharge time. Lots of comfortable common areas for visiting, eating, lounging. Walking distance to restaurants and bars. Lovely Pioneer Valley scenery abounds. I wish I lived there year round!

    Claire2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Martina's beautiful and spacious house was the perfect place to stay for our family wedding. We had some issues with the heat but Martina was immediately responsive and made everything right very quickly. I would be happy to recommend this space to anyone, it is just as described on the website, and I would love to stay here again.

  • This is a great house to stay in. Lots of room to spread out in. Great location—can walk to downtown Greenfield as well as to a nice walking trail. We had 7 people there and it was perfect. The owner lives next door and is available for any questions, etc.

    Cindy2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Plenty of room for our family. We had 7 adults. The beds were comfortable. The lawn was great for yard games. The town is typical Western MA with great walking trails.

  • We are visiting the school nearby. The host, Letha, was super nice. We greeted us when we arrived, introduced us to the room, and exchanged enthusiastic information about the school with us. Her eldest son went to school in Kitanoyama and also offered her son to help share a lot. This landlord feels very warm! The interior of the room is well-equipped, comfortable, and tastefully furnished! If you have the opportunity to study nearby, then come often!

    曦云2020-01-24T00:00:00Z

  • This was a perfect place for us to stay while we helped our daughter move into an apartment for grad school. Letha's place is ideally located within minutes to campus and our daughter's apartment. Letha offered to help us and our daughter with anything we needed . The apartment was clean, nicely arranged with beautiful flowering plants. She included unexpected amenities such as bottled water/coffee/fruit and bagels with cream cheese. A great way to start our day. We definitely plan on returning when we visit our daughter.

  • Exceeded in my expectations. Left as a very happy guest!

    Ashley2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Letha is an amazing Hostess. I had previously stayed at an airbnb and felt a little out of place and awkward. Not at Letha's house! From the time I checked in I felt like part of the family. Her personal touches made me feel right at home and communicating with her was simple and I always received a fast response! The deal we received for the amount of space and privacy we had was incredible!! I highly recommend booking here during your next stay at an airbnb.

  • Jon and Christine’s studio is the perfect cozy spot for some R&R. I had a great time meeting up with friends and family in the area and exploring, and using the studio as a central location. There are a couple of freight trains that come through at night and the sound of the whistle was quite romantic. A lovely stay, highly recommended!
