Recently renovated 3 bedroom home on 1 acre with superb outdoor dining area and warm Coonara heater indoors. Great for country getaways, excellent base for bushwalkers.
Guests have access to the whole house including outdoor dining on deck and fire pit at rear of block.
We are within the Lerderderg Forest and Wombat State Park. Ten minutes to Blackwood, 20 minutes to Trentham and about 30 minutes to Daylesford. Also only 10-15 minutes from Pykes Creek Reservior.
  • Beautiful quiet place surrounded by nature. Absolutely recommend for a quiet cosy (fireplace) getaway in short distance to lovely bushwalks. Michelle was such a pleasure to communicate with, super quick responses. Window seats looking to trees is gorgeous. An older style house with real character . Thanks and enjoy

  • Michelle's place was very nice, quiet, easy access and very cozy. It had all we wanted.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Michelle's place. Enjoyed the extra details including toys, boardgames. Very comfortable and clean. Lovely to have a coffee on the porch listening to kookaburra and watching kangaroos hop past. The house is a short scenic drive into Blackwood or Greendale.

  • Great place with thoughtful touches. This is a great house for those looking to get to Daylesford and Ballarat over a weekend. The house has several nice touches and kangaroos around the area. The pantry was well stocked and the house has a room for kids with bunk beds. Overall, a great place to getaway from Melbourne and within a 30 minute drive to Ballarat and Daylesford.

  • A cozy little cottage a perfect size for a family of 5. Plenty of places to drive to and explore. Glendale pub is great for dinner :)

  • We had a great stay here at michelle’s gorgeous little cottage. Although it was raining and cold we where nice and warm indoors with plenty to do even for our littlies who enjoyed playing with the toys and the wii. The house is only a short drive to Ballarat and attractions and far enough out to enjoy the peaceful scenery of the bush!!!

  • A sparkling clean, quaint little place which for 2 adults was plenty. The continental breakfast was a highlight. The bed and the pillows were amazing. What type of pillow is it?? Highly recommended, James and Judy

  • Michael place is a 10/10 you can’t fault anything about this place. It’s like a home away from home. Super spacious and clean!

    Julie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place was exceptional and exceeded my expectations!! It was very clean and spacious, with all necessary amenities. A little bonus was his puppy Teddy who was very welcoming and open to rubs.

    Jenny2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, great equipment, place felt like new. Would happily stay again.

    Christian2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our little family loved everything about this place, it was super easy, car park out the front, the house was perfectly clean, had nice touches with Bread Mil Yogurt Cereals and other little things already there. Beautiful inside, nice and modern, really couldn't find any fault with it

    Reece2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We booked a 3-night stay at Michael & Cheryl's place and were more than happy with our trip! The property is exactly as it looks in the listing photos - homey, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches throughout. Two things in particular stood out to us: the convenience/variety of the breakfast foods that were provided, and how hot the shower was. We also really appreciated how immaculate the unit was. Every inch of it was sparkling clean! Whenever we bumped into Michael on our way in or out, he was always really friendly and ready to help with whatever requests we had (though given how well-presented the unit is, we had none). We can't recommend this place enough and will be very happy to book a stay again if we're ever in the area. P.S. Teddy the dog was a lovely surprise! He deserves all the best scratches.

    Jo2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean with great breakfast options. Fabulous value and super close to the freeway to get you where you need to be (slightly noisy at times if windows were open but we didn't mind). Lovely gardens as well.

  • Caboose was an amazing place to stay. It was a little cottage that was actually very big. The gardens were beautiful and the view incredible. It was the perfect location for me to take pre wedding photographs with my bridesmaids. The place was clean with all the amenities. The communication was easy, clear and friendly. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you Jeff.

    Beth2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Caboose was a great place to accommodate our 5 adults and two kids. The four bedrooms were ideal with two full en-suite bathrooms and another main bathroom. Kitchen was well equipped and the eating areas were bright and sunny. Lovely views all, around and especially the front balcony. Short drive to town but felt like you were in the middle of the Bush.

    Tony2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic sums it up. A touch of the old and new in one location but all presented to the same high standard. Sitting on the deck in the evening light and listening to the numerous birds has to be experienced. Great location to explore Daylesford and it's surrounds.

    Andrew2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is not a fancy place but we loved it - lots of sweet touches and it suited us down to the ground. It is surrounded by nature, so quiet, so close to town, perfect for a real getaway. View while bathing was just divine.!!

  • Beautiful house nestled in amongst the Bush. Perfect for winding down.

  • We had such a wonderful weekend stay at this property. Was perfect for 9 of us and it had everything we needed. The surrounds and view is spectacular and was wonderful to relax and enjoy time on the outdoor verandah. It is a big property so plenty of room for us all and it didn't feel cramped- it was just right. Jeff was a pleasure to deal with also and we would all highly recommend staying here and we will be returning again!

    Annette2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great house in a beautiful location. Loved it.

    Gray2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had such a wonderful time at Jeff’s place in Daylesford. This beautiful artistic house is very clean & spacious with 4 big bedrooms and plenty of space for kids to run around. It’s close to town and all the attractions too. Check out Daylesford Lake, The Mill market & Lavendula garden. We would definitely come back & stay much longer next time.

This traditional bed and breakfast combines the age old beauty of a Victorian home with modern amenities such as reverse cycle heating and cooling. It offers 2 spacious rooms with a private entrance in the centre of town.A quiet and restful home with views over looking the Lerderderg Gorge.
Blackwood itself is full of wonderful things to do both for able bodied people and those with more limited mobility. Karen is able to offer suggestions for activities and assist with any transport/booking enquiries.
  • In light of the CV crisis we were delighted to be greeted with a packet of Ajax disinfectant wipes! Karen did everything to make sure the space was tip top for our little family. She had a great collection of entertaining & intelligent DVDs so we could get away from all the media madness occupying our minds at this time. We made the mostof the coffee machine, the ample breakfast provisions kept us satisfied, the beautiful views & the other natural delights (like the visiting troop of kangaroos) soothed our weary souls. Karen filled us in on the local hot spots . Our superhost clearly loves where she lives & loves sharing that with visitors. Her passion for India is reflected in the decor (without being over the top) - but it has that lovely Victorian country house feel too. Our child loved the homely feel of the place too & loved being there. Karen also gave us advice on where to eat, shop & get even more coffee. :) Good tips! The location is perfect (not far from Melbourne) & the town has great amenities for a delightful weekend away. We especially enjoyed the local pub - good, reasonably priced food for a range of budgets. Thanks Karen for giving us a great weekend & helping us make some special memories.

  • Ruby my dog and I very much enjoyed having Karen's place as a base to explore the region. It was great to sit in the alcove to the bedroom in the evening sun and take in the view across the gardens to the gum tree covered hills. Or watch the kangaroos in the adjacent fields on our morning walks. Karen was a friendly and very helpful host and the space had a lot of thoughtful touches including a yummy continental breakfast. One of the tailored hats from Karen's millinery shop has come home with me as a momento of a wonderful long weekend.

  • We enjoyed our stay, very comfortable accomodation. Karen is a wonderful host and provided us with an excellent breakfast. Also a great location in Blackwood. Definitely recommend.

    Rob2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous hospitality and so accomodating and friendly. Karen welcomed our pooch and had heaps of local knowledge to help us enjoy our stay.

    De-Arne2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was very friendly, hospitable and prompt with her response. The check in process was very easy and the room was comfortable. There was a lot of care and effort put into the decoration, and it would have been nice to enjoy the little study/ relaxation nook overlooking the mountain, had I arrived earlier! Karen’s place would be perfect for a country style weekend hideaway, away from the modern world distractions.

    Tse Min2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures are a good reflection of the space. It's directly opposite the pub. Karen was lovely, and made me feel welcome, despite me turning up from cycling wet and muddy :)

    Jill2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little B&B in Blackwood. Karen was a great host, giving tips on the local food options and cheffing up a lovely breakfast.

    Robert2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say? Karen has been the most outstanding host and we never even got to meet her. In a very unfortunate event, we did not even get to stay at her house. The minute we arrived, there was a bushfire alert a kilometre up the road and we decided not to stay, given the horrendous time Australia is having with bushfires. We only got to step inside the gorgeous little house for about 5 minutes...and in that time and we’re gobsmacked by it’s old world beauty. I was very upset we could not stay. There were lovely little personal touches everywhere and the most gorgeous view. A beautiful breakfast had been prepared and laid out for us too. Karen has been wonderfully understanding about the situation.. and also accommodating and friendly...we can’t recommend her highly enough. We are definitely coming back to stay here. It’s heaven on earth.

  • Kalvin's cabin was absolutely beautiful! It was very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that I think should be mentioned is that there is no heater, only a fireplace. So expect to light a fire if you are feeling cold. I would stay at Kalvin's again if I am ever out that way! Thanks Kalvin :)

  • The perfect little cabin to hole up in over an autumnal weekend, the Potting Shed provided everything we needed — and more. Yes, it’s a gorgeous space but Sandy and Rob also went above and beyond in their hospitality with all the delicious goodies and treats. So many gorgeous, thoughtful touches that didn’t go astray. We also loved wandering in the potager garden and rose paddock, listening to the resident cockatoos and kookaburras. Super cosy bed with an abundance of pillows — can’t believe I fell asleep for an afternoon nap, even after having a coffee! Thank you for creating the most gorgeous space to recharge and relax.

  • My partner and I stayed overnight and loved the potting shed so much. This is such a beautiful, unique airbnb experience. So many thoughtful, generous, luxurious touches that make you feel so welcome and at home the moment you walk in the door. Such a gorgeous, private, charming abode. Access and communication is effortless. Can't recommend it highly enough!

    Jo2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had the most charming stay in Trentham. The hospitality was amazing. This was the kind of stay that will make for special memories. We had planned a special stay ourselves as a celebratory 30th birthday and 12 years of friendship - sandy rob and the team made it all the more so. Perfect place to enjoy dinner in the garden, open a bottle of sparkling, cosy up by the fire and drink tea in the morning sun. We were even invited to enjoy the roses at the farm. Very special and beautiful place. Not much was open in the town due to early week stay.. but we were vey happy to make ourselves at home at the property! Thank you again!!

    Sarah2020-01-28T00:00:00Z

  • A beautiful and relaxing space set in a private kitchen garden. The Potting Shed has been decorated with so much thought with lots of charming touches - flowers, food, wine, beautiful bedding and so much more. Furry friends are welcome in this part of the property too. Location is fantastic with just a short stroll into Trentham village. Can highly recommend - one of thr best Airbnb experiences I’ve had.

    Karen2020-01-02T00:00:00Z

Musk House is a tastefully decorated 1 bedroom cottage with an en-suite bathroom. The open planned living/dining/ kitchen area is spacious with views out to the garden. There is also a day bed in the sun room, perfect for an afternoon snooze or for an extra guest. There is no extra charge if you bring your own linen but If you want the 2nd bathroom made available & have the daybed made up with linen then an extra charge of $75 will apply.
While the buzz of Daylesford is only a 7 minute drive away, here at Musk House is another world of peace and solitude. A stroll through the garden reveals a myriad of wonderful plants and a babbling creek that flows all year round. The day bed in the sunroom is a treasured spot for relaxing with a book or an afternoon siesta. Even from inside the cottage, by the warmth of the wood fire or the coolness of the air conditioner with a favourite CD playing, the garden still envelops you with its tranquil ambiance. There is a full kitchen with everything you need to self cater. Tea, coffee & milk is supplied & there is a Nespresso coffee machine with Urban Brew biodegradable pods for your stay. Cooking oil, salt and pepper can also be found in the pantry. There is a flat screen TV & a DVD player with a stack of DVDs provided for your enjoyment. (Please return discs to their correct case so future guests can also enjoy them) In the bedroom you will find a queen size bed and an ensuite bathroom. Sorry but there is only a shower as we are on tank water out here in the country and filling a bath would be contradictory to good water management practices. I do hope you understand. Musk House is also pet friendly so feel to have your fur baby accompany you on your country escape. I do ask that your well behaved pet is not left inside the house unsupervised. The courtyard garden accessed via the back door or the French doors from the sun room, is fully fenced. Pets are not permitted on the furniture or the bed. Please clean up after your dog in the garden. Enjoy a body massage in Daylesford, but experience a massage of the soul at Musk House.
I love that Musk is a delightful little farming community located a short drive out of Daylesford. There are numerous attractions located in Musk such as Passing Clouds winery & Istra small goods farm- who sell products direct to the public at a great price.
  • We loved our stay at Martin’s place! It’s just a short drive from Daylesford town centre but the atmosphere in the house and garden was so lovely and cosy we could have happily stayed there the whole time. Especially loved the well-equipped kitchen! We would definitely book again, looks like the place would be great in Winter too. Thanks Martin!

  • Beautiful little cottage just outside of Daylesford centre. Clean and spacious. Great for a few days away from the city to relax.

    Gianni2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Martin’s place was the perfect countryside getaway. Super clean, cosy and relaxing. Booked last minute and when we arrived there was some relaxing music playing on the TV, which felt very welcoming. There is a fireplace, a sunroom (that gets warm and cosy) and the kitchen has all the crockery and cooking basics you could want. If you can’t quite keep the fire going, the split system provides great heating. Some lovely fresh breakfast items were left for us, which was a nice touch. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The place was immaculately clean, and provided the perfect stay. I look forward to staying here again next time. :)

Lumella is an architect-designed getaway for guests looking for a private and peaceful rural escape only nine minutes from Daylesford and fifteen minutes to Trentham.
Located on Dolphins Hill on the border of Musk and Bullarto, Lumella sits on 20 acres atop the Great Dividing Range. Commanding panoramic views as far as the eye can see down through the valleys to the headwaters of the Werribee, Campaspe and Loddon rivers that surround the area. The view provides an ever-changing living canvas, breathtaking throughout each season. During the winter months, while the fire is roaring the surrounding hills can be covered in snow, whilst in Summer, hay bales dot the landscape and the large deck is a beautiful place to relax and take in the view. The building was designed by Antony Martin (MRTN Architects) His clever design feels spacious, despite the small footprint. It has a balanced symmetry and from above the footprint looks like a star. The design captures the stunning views through the large picture box windows. The interiors have been beautifully put together by Jessica Nixon from Okologi, she has sourced products and artwork from Koskela, Castle, Globewest, Shelley Panton, Oblica, L&M Home, and Heatherley Design to name a few to create a one-off and special hideaway. The bathroom with a free-standing bath is a feature and guests are treated to Aesop Skin Care and luxurious towels. This is a property you can prepare for a long weekend and decide to stay in, cook, dream and laze away the days watching the ever-changing view through the window. Or make the most of the proximity to Daylesford and Trentham and book a special lunch or dinner at one of the region's famous restaurants. You can then retreat to Lumella with dessert and a nightcap beside the fire. Those who particularly enjoy bush walks will love the idea of the walking tracks and access to the Wombat State Forest right outside your door. Fine design, nature, simplicity and a little bit of pampering far away from it all, but close enough to the region's top destinations, what more could you possibly want? Please note: Stays of longer than 2 nights are available. Contact us to enquire.
Laid-back, pretty, and with an enticing combination of boutique retail, dining, day spas and art galleries is a fitting way to describe Daylesford. This iconic village, renowned as the spa capital of Australia, boasts the highest ratio of day spas and the largest number of therapists per capita in the country. Located 90 minutes' from Melbourne's CBD and just an hour from Tullamarine airport, it is a world away from the bustle of city life. Browse arty collectables and homewares at boutiques such as Bromley & Co., Arte Deco and Harry & Me, or climb aboard the Daylesford Spa Country Railway for a trip with the kids to the popular Sunday Market. Home to Lake Daylesford, the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens and nearby to popular State Parks, this enchanting destination is a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts, food lovers and art aficionados alike.

Welcome to Bramasole - It’s English translation is “Yearning for the Sun”. A gorgeous little cottage in the picturesque town of Trentham. Set in the Highlands of Victoria.
The cottage is set amongst an established garden and set on half an acre. Bramasole is my country home, my retreat to relax and unwind and I am opening it up for others to experience the peace and tranquility of My Country Home. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could want (baking is my therapy), so please enjoy the welcoming ‘homey’ decor.
Situated in the heart of town, take a lovely walk (approx 8 mins) in to the Main Street where you will find cafes, pubs, bakery’s and specialty shops.
  • Giovanni’s place is very comfortable and stylish with a great view out the back. Close to the township of Trentham.

    Julie2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Giovanni’s place- it’s a short walk into the village for a coffee which is perfect. The flat was clean and had everything we needed and Giovanni had added some lovely touches to welcome us there! Would definitely recommend to stay here- it’s the perfect place to get away from everything. Thank you! Clara

Two bedroom fully functioning, child friendly, pet friendly bush cabin with beautiful wildlife and plenty to do.
Two bedroom house close to walking tracks and dirtbike tracks, bushland, wildlife and country pub. Award winning restaurant 10 minutes away in Myrniong. Fully functioning kitchen, master bedroom queen bed, second bedroom single bed, set up as a child's bedroom. Living area with wood fire, split system air conditioning/heating, dining table, high chair. Bathroom, shower and seperate toilet. 3 acres of land with trampoline, cubby house, sand pit. Two enclosed dog runs, 2 large kennels.
    Safe, residential street, friendly neighbours.
  • My partner and I used Beth's house as a place to land when we moved to Victoria with our 2 dogs. We ended up finding the place to be so comfortable and convenient we extended our stay for an additional week and would have extended further if we had the choice. Full size kitchen that is fully stocked, fireplace with firewood, comfortable bed, phone reception in the area is OK with Telstra. The dog run is about 50 meters from the house and our dogs were never able to get out. With the front gate to the driveway closed our dogs could happily run around the entire property.

  • We spent a weekend at Pam’s place. The reviews were glowing and we were not disappointed. Great personal touches, like leaving plenty of kindling and firewood, blankets and other elements that helped us, as were with a baby. The place would suit a small family as a base for an exploration of the area. With public health considerations we spent a lot of the time at the cottage, and it was ideal for that - a warm & cosy oasis from everything.

    Andrew2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • No wonder Pam is a Super Host. Her Cottage is amazing, clean and everything was just great. We will definitely come back. Thanks Pam for letting us spend these days at your place.

  • Absolutely beautiful cottage tucked away from the hustle and bustle yet so close to town. Pam was a fabulous host the cottage had everything we needed and more along with a beautiful wood fire. I would definitely recommend to family and friends, when back in the area I would stay again.

    Gemma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific property with a huge secure yard and just (literally) out of town, which was perfect for privacy but not a pain to have to drive more than 3min each way. Pam was responsive to messages, very helpful with suggestions and a few little requirements I asked for. I live on a farm but this was probably even more relaxing and secluded. Will definately visit again.

    Ben2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chestnut Farm Cottage is a beautifully appointed little cottage set in magnificent gardens amongst rolling farmland - and all just a few minutes drive from Daylesford itself. Pam is a wonderful host - very friendly communications, lots of local tips, and very thoughtful touches awaiting us on our arrival. The cottage is decorated beautifully in a country chic style. It has two very stylish comfortable bedrooms, a spacious lounge, a small but well appointed kitchen and a large modern bathroom, and a lovely veranda to sit with your morning coffee and listen to the bird life and the nearby farm animals. It’s the perfect spot for a few days relaxing and enjoying the area around Daylesford.

    Liz2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Simply wonderful spot. Amazing location for walks and close to the town centre. Great little cottage, very cosy. We felt very at peace there and really enjoyed our stay.

    Madeleine2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Pam for such a beautiful oasis. We loved our stay here and would come back in a heart beat. The place was nicely styled, we appreciated the time spent in setting up the space, especially all of your recommendations. The house has everything needed for a week/weekend getaway. The grounds are tranquil, we enjoyed having a cuppa out the front and went out the back to say hello to the alpacas. Thank you!

  • Would recommend this beautiful cottage on the edge of Daylesford; Pam and Richard have provided superb accommodation with some lovely extras. A welcome surprise after a long drive. Sparkling clean and very comfortable beds and pillows. We would definitely stay again.

  • Clean, comfortable and incredibly spacious getaway. Such a great place for longer stays - we were sad we were there for just an evening!

    Nicola2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home in a quiet, peaceful location. The hosts were quick to respond to messages and Karen was incredibly friendly and helpful when we checked in. She offered lots of suggestions for things to do/places to see during our stay and her local knowledge was much appreciated. The apartment itself was clean, tidy and tastefully decorated and contained all the amenities that we needed during our stay. It is perfectly suited to a single traveller, couple or couple with an infant (as was our circumstance - you will need to bring your own portacot, however there is plenty of space in the bedroom to set it up). I would definitely recommend the apartment to visitors to the Macedon Ranges :)

Set on 3 acres and backing directly onto the Wombat State Forest this 5BR country home provides the perfect escape into the peace and quiet of beautiful bush surrounds and only 45 minutes from the Balti Bridge in Melbourne. This place is perfect for 1 or 2 families wanting a holiday escape, bush walkers / trail runners & other outdoor adventurers or bird watchers and artists seeking peace and quiet. Wood fire to relax by and huge deck with stunning views the house can be enjoyed all year round.
With stunning views, a huge deck to sit and relax on as well as walking tracks leading out from the property you may not even want to leave the grounds during your stay, but if you do there is so much to do in the area no holiday would be long enough! This house has 5 bedrooms (one currently with a cot only), 2 ensuite bathrooms plus a separate toilet and spa bath, two huge open plan living areas (one with a wood fire and tv/dvd player) so there is plenty of room for everyone to relax in. You will find the kitchen full equipped with everything we think you might need. There is a microwave and dishwasher to make life simple as well as a washing machine and dryer in the laundry should you need it. The huge pantry will be well stocked of most essentials you are welcome to use also. For families with children we have plenty of toys, books and dvds to entertain them but there is loads for them to enjoy out in the fresh air also. Kangaroos, wombats, rabbits & kookaburras all visit the property with the sounds of nature virtually all you will hear. There are some nice easy walking tracks around the property and out the back gate for young children to enjoy as well as more tracks throughout the State Forest for those who want to go further afield. These are great for trail running and walking. The house is easy to find and only 45mins drive from the Balti Bridge if coming from Melbourne and easy drive from Melbourne airport also only around 45mins. Once here its an lovely drive to many stunning country towns: 5mins into historic Blackwood with great river walks, awesome cafe and pub, 5 mins to Greendale which has a great country pub, 15mins to Trentham, 15mins to Ballan, 30 mins to Daylesford, Woodend and Kyneton.
  • Great house for a big family or a family get together. We enjoyed sitting around the log fire when the weather is inclement and sitting outside when it was sunny

  • What an amazing experience we had at this quiet and peaceful location. Very clean and large house with a huge cupboard full of games, toys and activities for the children to keep them busy while we enjoyed the large deck looking out into the trees. We absolutely loved our time here. Caroline was very helpful and lovely to communicate with. Highly recommended 😊

    Kayla2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and homely feel. Conducive to absolute relaxation and being “off the grid”. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Hannah2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is so understanding and was more than helpful when our plans changed.

    Pascale2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very spacious for 10 people and a dog. Two spacious living rooms, a large and open kitchen are furnished just enough, not overcrowding it. The pantry and fridge are supplied with plenty of necessities but good varieties. The only down side of this house is the internet reception which is pretty much none (Telstra one bar, on and off). If you want a peace and quiet, putting technology aside, then this is the one but the house is supplied with plenty of books , DVDs and games and you can bring yourown games to hook into the TV. 30-45 minutes to Daylesford and 1 hr to Bendigo. I would keep this house on my list when I need a time off from the hectic life in Melbourne. Thanks Caroline for all the detailed information on your booklet. They are all so accurate and helpful. Cheers.

Our cosy cottage has its own private entrance & sits in a secluded garden with views to the old barn. The living/dining room, kitchenette (No oven/cooktop), bedroom & bathroom make an ideal getaway for couples. Set on a few acres, the property backs onto a treed river area. It has chickens & friendly alpacas to visit, but it's a mere 5 minute walk into town. Ballan is the perfect base from which to explore Daylesford, Trentham, Blackwood, Creswick & Ballarat, all are within a 30 minute drive.
Westcott dates back to the mid 1860’s, but while the rustic charm and history of the building can be seen and felt at every turn, the interior has been lovingly renovated to add modern day creature comforts. The accommodation is set up in the original cottage of the house, built in 1865. Although semi detached, it is separated from the main house by the original, exterior stone walls of the cottage, making it exceptionally quiet. The cottage has its own entrance and sits in a pretty & private garden with views to the old barn. Situated on four acres on the outskirts of Ballan, the property backs onto the meandering Werribee River. The river valley is a quick, easy walk and here you’ll often discover wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies and an array of birdlife. Listen out for the kookaburras and keep an eye out for the occasional eagle hunting for prey. It’s equally close to the centre of town, just a 500m stroll away to cafes, supermarket, op shops and pubs. Our family consists of Buddy our beautiful Border Collie & Pablo the rooster with his harem of girls, who are happy to provide eggs for your breakfast. Our four alpacas - Charlie Brown, Jeff, Betty and Svetlana, all come running when they see visiting guests bearing gifts of apples or carrots :) Feel free to visit them anytime! None of these family members have any access to your private space! It’s all yours.
Ballan is a charming, peaceful country town which is especially picturesque as the autumn leaves change colour. The Autumn Festival held in late March gets bigger and better each year! There are cafes, pubs, op shops and markets to visit as you wander around. Ballan is also home to Mill Rose Quilting Shop & gallery, well known by those with a passion for quilting. There's also an Art Gallery run by a local Sculptor and his Artist wife. For the sports minded there’s a lovely golf course set along the Werribee river, which runs the entire way through the town, the excellent polo field of the Yaloak Polo Club and great fishing at Bostock and Moorabool Reservoirs, which are also perfect for barbecues and a walk by the water. Around Ballan there are several mineral springs to visit and many bushwalking areas to explore. It’s also the gateway to the Daylesford spa mecca, but a somewhat quieter option for accommodation. In less than 30 minutes, you can drive to Daylesford, Ballarat, Trentham, Creswick or Blackwood. Alternatively explore the Werribee and Lerderderg Gorges and The Brisbane Ranges. For those with a green thumb there are many outstanding nurseries in the area. Blackwood has two of the best, Blackwood Ridge Nursery & Café and The Garden of St Erth, both well worth a visit. Also the stunning Lambley Nursery the other side of Ballarat is a must. This area, particularly Gordon through to Daylesford, is fast becoming very well known for its truffle farms and during the colder months there are many truffle adventures and feasts to enjoy, but you will need to book early. The temperatures may not be so inviting, but the truffles are incredible. We also have an information folder in the cottage to help you plan your getaway.
  • Vicki’s place is beautifully decorated and she has created a welcoming and homely place to stay. She had eggs and produce from the garden for us and the alpacas. The bed was snug and comforting, and the heating had us speedily warm despite the chilly winds from outside. Highly recommended and we would definitely go back. Thanks Vicki!

  • Great place to stay, host was super friendly and helpful. The place was cute and had great amenities. Lovely place for a few day getaway.

    Jenelle2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfect for a weekend away. About 5 minutes walk from the shops but still gives off gorgeous country cottage vibes, with the chickens and alpacas around the corner. The garden is stunning to have a cup of tea or glass of wine in after a long day exploring the local areas. Close to plenty of good hiking spots and country towns. Stayed for 3 nights and wasn't missing anything, though the kitchen appliances are limited, it works easily for 2 people. And the space is homely, clean and the perfect size to not feel crowded. Would go back in a heartbeat!

The living space is soft and refined, with crisp white and organic colours combined with wood accents and surrounded by a lush green landscape with gum trees and natural bush and garden to create a relaxing and healthy escape from daily life. Being two standard shipping containers joined together, it is an open space other than the bathroom. It is light and airy due to the crisp white and earthy tones, plenty of windows (most double glazed and all second hand), sunlights throughout and light bamboo flooring. It contains a day bed which converts to a comfortable queen sized bed, quality linen, cosy doona, a couch, table for two, basic kitchen facilities including an induction stove top, fridge, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils, basic cookware and crockery. The ensuite bathroom has an eco friendly modern compostable toilet (ie it doesn’t smell J) and open shower.  There is a hand basin and vanity in the main area.  We supply the shampoo, conditioner, soap, dishwashing liquid to keep it environmentally friendly and safe to use. Also supplied are all linen, towels, hair dryer, organic black tea and a variety of organic herbal teas, coffee, raw sugar, organic milk, Himalayan salt, pepper, extra virgin olive oil. Set in a bush setting but walking distance from the local trading post café, Mount Macedon pub and Stanley park, it’s a perfect eco getaway for any visitors to the area, bushwalkers, mountain bikers, nature lovers or for those just needing a break. Outside the getaway, we are in the process of building a beautiful large fire pit and seating area so you can barbeque food on an open camp fire. There is also decking and chairs just outside the getaway for you to relax and enjoy mother nature. There is Wifi, TV, mobile reception, a selection of books and DVDs, plus various board games and puzzles provided for your entertainment. The space can accommodate a small child if required, please contact us for more details. Guest access Forest getaway is 50 minutes from Melbourne CBD via the Calder Freeway. 40 minutes from Tullamarine airport. You will need your own vehicle as there is no immediate accessible public transport. Guests may take long bush walks from the property through the Macedon Ranges. Other things to note Forest getaway is separate but close to the main residence. There is a dedicated carpark a short walk from the getaway.  We are happy to let you be or answer any questions, have a chat. We want your experience to be a rejuvenating and happy one, so please let us know how we can help make the experience as enjoyable as possible for you. There is also the option of joining one of Damien’s hikes around Mount Macedon or other local hiking areas.  You can even indulge in a private hike.  Contact us for more details or visit www.oldwaysinthenow.com.au We also as an added gift to you, provide a $20 voucher towards a 1 hr relaxation massage or classic facial on Fridays at Gisborne Health Essentials, in Gisborne. It is a10 minute drive and if you are coming up from Melbourne, it is the town before Macedon/Mount Macedon.  Please see their website for more information www.healthboutique.com.au. Please note, we live in a bushfire prone area (BAL40). As such guests will be required to leave on days of extreme fire risk, Code Red days or if there is an active fire nearby. It's a lovely quiet friendly forest town with open gardens, a pub, cafe, parks and forest walks.
  • Cool place, super clean. Loved the idea of shipping containers. Lots of nice touches - easy to find, close to main residence but nice peaceful area to be situated in.

  • Damien and his sweet family made me feel very welcome and at home in this cozy getaway. It is a simple but beautiful and calm space and an ideal place to realign and connect with nature .... I saw a Fairy Wren couple on the fence outside the dining space, kookaburras, magpies and oh, that clear, night sky. Thank you for a pefect stay.

  • Damien's place is somewhere we will definitely want to come back to. It is set in a fantastic position at the foot of Mount Macedon. We used it as a base to go hiking with our small dog and to climb Hanging Rock and explore the wine region. Damien's communication was spot on and so helpful. He and his wife have done a great job with their design of this container ship getaway.

  • I believe in places that warm the soul, and Damien’s place delivers. It is young in its Airbnb life, but will be very popular as time goes by. The hosts are wonderfully welcoming and provide you with the perfect meet and greet! You feel like they’re just old friends.. The space is cozy with room to breathe. I love small space done well it has been really well thought out. Clean as a whistle with the best bath towels EVER! Mount Macedon is perfect for a getaway and Damien delivers its heart and soul. Highly recommended and it won’t be my last visit. Enjoy this space, it’s amazing!

We enjoyed the space at home and the wifi worked well if needed. We had a great communication and it was only a few minutes walk to the cafe down the street. Amazing stay and thanks for hosting us!

  • This is a beautiful old and updated home set amongst a lovely little town, over looking a state forest. The house is huge and with many lovely and comfortable touches. We thoroughly enjoy our stay at Carinya. The hosts were very accommodating. We would happily return.

  • Carinya is a lovely house in a lovely spot. The photos don't really do it justice. It is simple, but has everything you need. The deck is big and has a wonderful view over the forested hills. Great place to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. Or watch a storm roll in - an experience I enjoyed! Sandy is a really helpful host. She responded to messages straight away and was easy to contact by phone. Blackwood is great for walking. Just head off along any road and follow your inclinations. Birdlife, forest and quirky homes tucked away around every corner.

  • Acre of Roses was the destination for our 25th wedding anniversary and we had a really memorable time. There is not a detail that’s been over looked. The provisions included in the accommodation are generous and of a very high standard. Sandy was a wonderful host who even arranged a private chef to come and cook and lovely dinner for us. We look forward to coming and staying again sometime.

    Liz2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve had a great, relaxing stay at Sandy and Rob’s place. The outdoor space was probably one of the best I’ve seen so far on AirBnb and really enjoyed sitting outside on the veranda having our meals outdoors. The hot tub was luxurious and the perfect temperature. Checkin was seamless and always had quick responses from Sandy. The town centre is well worth a visit with lots of coffee shops and places to eat out. Hope to visit again in the near future!

  • The acre of roses is a very special place to us. We stayed there on our wedding night and have gone back again for our anniversary and we absolutely love it. It is an amazing house and is full of special suprises. Sandy and rob have done an amazing job getting the house to be the perfect little getaway from normal life. We love it and everyone who stays will as well. And the in house chef cooking for us cooked amazing food and an legend of a bloke. Thankyou for letting us stay again

An almost entirely open plan house with a vast master bedroom upstairs and a bunk room downstairs, the house sleeps up to six, with an internal room (with a door!) just off the living room. The modern kitchen flows into the dining area, which seats 6, and then opens onto the comfortable living area, with wood fire and a plasma TV. The front deck also seats 6 and is nestled in the secrecy of the large established garden ringing the house. The upper deck has a cosy table for two overlooking views of the forest and surrounding hills. The two main bedrooms feature luxurious queen size beds with doonas and wardrobes. The third bedroom has two single beds and a desk, making it ideal for couples with children. There is a laundry and the bathroom is light and large, with bath and shower. Towels and sheets are provided.
Enjoy cycling and hiking in the forest, go down to the Mineral Springs and try the spring water, or visit the award-winning gardens at Garden of St Erth. Stop in for a coffee and cake at the café there, or walk casually back into town for lunch at the Blackwood Merchant. Make a quick trip over to Daylesford for the afternoon and have a massage, sauna and spa. Take advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen, or pop down to the Blackwood Hotel for dinner. Then relax by the wood fire and while away an evening with games or movies, or simply sit in the huge bathtub and look up at the stars through the ceiling window. In the morning, get up early to find kangaroos outside on the grass, or lie in bed until mid-morning when the birdsong happens.
  • Very good and spacious place to stay, my dog absolutely enjoyed herself and would go back again

  • My family and I absolutely loved staying at Frauke's place. Although we didn't meet in person, she went above and beyond our expectations for making our stay the best by calling me to welcome us and ensure we were ok, she even provided seeds to feed to various birds that come to visit and had the fire prepared for us! Blackwood is such a beautiful little town with extremely friendly people. We would happily go back again!

    Rachel2020-01-27T00:00:00Z

  • This was a fantastic place for our weekend away, with plenty of room and a great kitchen. It was a pleasure to relax by the fire or in the reading nook. Definitely a place I will be staying at again. Julie went out of her way to keep a clean house, especially taking into account the current threat of Coronavirus.

  • Really lovely, peaceful and quiet. The view over the valley was amazing. To gaze across the fields and see the wildlife was very special. Great facilities- we had everything we needed. Near to the town- Woodend. Ate at the local pub. Vic hotel on the owner recommendation. The best rack of pork ribs we’ve ever eaten. I’d recommend booking a table as the place was packed- we got the last table. Being able to bring our dog was such a bonus. The morning walks were really great. Thanks again- it was everything as described and so much more. We’ll definitely be booking again.

This self-contained accommodation with private entrance has 2 bedrooms (both doubles), its own bathroom, and a private lounge / diner with basic kitchenette. A selection of cereals, fruit, and yoghurt is provided for breakfast, along with milk, coffee, orange juice, bread for toast with butter, and selection of spreads and teas. An acre of gardens surround our house. These consist of mature trees, shrubs and perennial planting. We enjoy hosting visits from a variety of native birds.
Both bedrooms are furnished with double bed, bedside table and lamps. One has a desk. They are centrally heated and cooled through the main house heating and cooling system, through ceiling ducts. Each bedroom has doorway access to the hallway leading to the private lounge / diner area. The bedrooms access a ‘jack and jill’ bathroom for exclusive use by guests. Bathroom has shower, bath and toilet. There is also a second toilet at the end of the passageway. The lounge / diner area is furnished with couch, tub chairs, and dining table with seating for 4. The area is equipped with TV, and a basic kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Access to the accommodation is from the guest’s off street parking area, along the covered verandah on the eastern side of the main property, around to the private entrance at the end of the rear verandah.
We are on the outskirts of town surrounded by acre sized properties. Our neighbours have chickens and sheep, and you can often hear cows and horses in the fields beyond. Ballan is serviced by a good train service on the Ballarat line from Melbourne, with the journey to Melbourne about an hour. Travel by road is excellent as Ballan has easy access 30-45 mins by car to the Macedon Ranges, Werribee Gorge and Brisbane Ranges, and other Central Highlands towns, including Ballarat. Geelong to the south is a little further away. We can help you with local knowledge of the variety of things to do using Ballan as a base.
  • Mary and Graham we’re quick to reply to any of my questions and were very accommodating when last minute changes to the number of guests were made.

    Suliana2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The West Wing situated on the outskirts of Ballan is a hidden treasure. We were a group of 4 adults which included 2 elderly 88yo. The bonus of having grab rails in bathroom was gratefully appreciated and made our stay that much easier. The unit whilst attached to main home was still very private. The bedrooms were spacious with plenty of room and wardrobe space. The “jack and Jill” bathroom was well thought out and the whole unit tastefully decorated clean and tidy. We had everything we needed to make this a home during our stay. The breakfast provisions were quality products, ample and stretched to be both breakfast and lunch. The hosts were fabulous very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We would have no hesitation in booking the west wing again should we be in the area again. One point to be aware of is there is a train line at the end of the garden but it didn’t annoy us. Overall excellent accommodations.

  • We had a lovely stay at 'Our West Wing' this weekend while in Victoria for a wedding. The location was perfect for us and Graham was nice enough to accommodate early check in. He was wonderful to deal with and very easy to get hold of which made our planning very easy. The property and accommodation is delightful and the linen/towels are so luxurious! The little breakfast spread was much appreciated this morning. Our entire stay was very easy and enjoyable.

    Christina2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mary & Graham are wonderful hosts, they made us feel at home and made sure the rooms had everything. Lovely place with a beautiful garden and birds. Would recommend and stay here again.

Private cottage set in a bush setting. Perfect for bushwalkers, mountain bikers or a couples retreat. Plenty of wallabies, wombats, kookaburras, koalas, echidnas etc to keep you company. Parking for multiple vehicles, Wifi, TV, mobile reception. The studio has one main room and it is possible to have one small child stay with you in a portacot. But be aware that it is a shared room, so you can't do too much after they go to bed. Two children would be a bit too squishy.
Private Studio, located above the main house with views into the surrounding bush. The main room has cathedral ceilings and includes a two seater, recliner couch, queen size bed, TV, stereo, record player with a few old vinyls, sound bar, coat stand, wardrobe, table for two and a kitchenette. Kitchenette has a single portable induction cooktop (including pots and pan), Nespresso Coffee machine with frother, bar fridge, microwave, rice cooker, toaster and kettle. A separate bathroom has a toilet, shower and basin. An entrance porch is accessed from the west which has a table and two chairs, a great bush setting and sunset views through the trees. Wallabies and wombats come through each night, with the local echidna making a visit every few days. Native birds abound and you can hear the koalas mating calls at certain times of the year (If you haven't heard a koala mating call - you won't forget it... its not that romantic).
Bushwalkers and mountain bikers paradise, leave the studio and walk straight into the bush, untouched since the bushfires of 1983. Tracks from the studio head out directly to the various trails over the mount, or you can wander down the drive and into the Mount Macedon CBD (1.2km away) there is a great pub and cafe to keep you entertained for hours. A unique property in that we have no neighbours, we are surrounded by state forest, so the only things you will hear at night are the wombats and wallabies.
  • Luke and Fran were great hosts, making our stay in their perfect studio so comfortable and hospitable. The location of their studio was perfect, just a stones throw from local wineries, pub, cafe and tourist attractions. They exceeded our expectations in terms of the studio itself, with great amenities, a comfortable bed and a toasty fireplace, complete with a continental breakfast. Fran was a great help on check in as she gave us some good tips for local eats and hiking trails., and they also let us know of a baby echidna that was wandering around the property! Overall I could not recommend this stay any higher!

There are many restaurants and pubs in Melton and a lively shopping precinct at "Woodgrove". Melton has a swim centre. Movie theatre located at the Woodgrove within the centre. See parks and gardens. A short 10 minute drive will take you into historical Bacchus Marsh, where there are many organic farms. Drive through the "Avenue of Honour" (many farms offer fruit-picking) A further 45 minute drive will take you to historical Ballarat. Visit Ballarat Wild-life Sanctuary and Sovereign Hill. As the farm is centrally located to the City of Melbourne in the East, Ballarat in the West, Geelong and surf-coast in the South and Gisbourne in the North, it is a great way to stay for an extended period of time and really see some outstanding places with around just 1 hour drive in each direction.
Neighbourhood is very quiet. Previous guests have appreciated 'Zen' like stay experience.

  • Nina and her husband were very nice and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean, with the convenience of your own kitchen and bathroom. I had a very nice stay.
