It’s perfect for small children as Sara provides high chairs, a travel cot, toys and plastic plates and bowls etc. I couldn’t recommend it enough

  • Just had a lovely weekend at Sara's House celebrating my father in laws 60th birthday. There was 13 of us and everyone enjoyed our stay. The kitchen and living area was plenty bigger enough for the 13 of us. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The bedrooms are a great size. Beautiful bathroom on the first floor with a huge bath and shower. Sara kept in contact before and throughout for any questions. The kids were so upset when we were leaving, they all wanted to stay at the new house.

  • Most welcoming couple. Everything was as described on the web. Kitchen has everything you need and was clean and tidy. House was cosy and warm. The steps to the front door are not a problem as there is level access to the rear. It was actually nice to forego a TV for a few days 😊. Will definitely return.

Characterful, cosy and quirky late 17th century weaver's cottage situated in the suburb of Fartown approximately 1.4 miles from Huddersfield town centre and train station. There are excellent links from the train station to Manchester airport, Leeds, York and London via Wakefield. Bus stops are close by (for Huddersfield and Bradford) and there is easy access to the M62 (approximately 2 miles away).
The small cottage is full of character, with an interior that's a fusion of vintage, retro, industrial, rustic and country cottage elements. The main space is the cosy kitchen/living room (approx 5 metres x 3 metres in size). The kitchen section has a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, smoothie maker, single induction hob and small oven. The simple living room has two comfortable leather armchairs, coffee table, and electric heater. The upstairs bedroom (approx 3 x 3metres in size) contains one double bed, an electric heater in the bedroom, hanging space for clothes, and a wall-mounted 40 inch television with main freeview channels in HD. The new bathroom suite has an electric shower. There is NO WiFi in the cottage. Outside the cottage is a private/fenced garden with outdoor table and two chairs, that guests are welcome to use. There is an adjoining cottage next door (it is currently unoccupied, but there could be workmen on site at times doing work renovating it). The cottage accommodate 1-2 guests due to its size. Although situated in a fairly busy urban area, the cottage is set back from the road which gives it a more removed and secluded feeling and usually its pretty quiet. Guest access Guests are welcome to arrive from 3pm onwards and the departure time is by 11.am. Other things to note Please be aware that there is no Wi-Fi in the cottage. There will be a selection of foodstuffs available (in the fridge and on the shelves) for the preparation of breakfast, which could include the following: bread, butter, breakfast cereals, various spreads, filter coffee and tea. Although the cottage is Andy's home, on occasions he may need to call by for various reasons, but would let you know in advance. Whenever possible, guests will be greeted by Andy, otherwise guests can use the key safe for self check-in from 3pm onwards.
Within a short walking distance away is a post office, bakery, chemist, launderette, general store, takeaways and restaurants. There's also a choice of supermarkets in the area including Asda, Aldi, Sainsburys and Tesco.
  • The Nest is a really cosy, clean and comfortable place to stay. A place to relax in as soon as you walk through the door. Andrew provides all you need (plus some very thoughtful extras) to ensure a great stay. We will definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone looking to visit this area.

    Jo2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • As they say...’Good things come in small packages’! I arrived late and walked up the side path. At first I wasn’t sure as the house next door looked run down , HOWEVER , don’t be put off as you realise it’s having a facelift , the builders are in progress updating. So once in it’s a safe little nest .. As a woman on my own, with dog, it was ideal. All small details thought of for your furry friend too. Everything explained very clearly re heating , all simple to use .. fridge had a choice of milks ( very thoughtful) and all very clean..the bed is extremely comfortable... and the best thing for me, I had no WiFi so peace and quiet .... a great excuse. Andrew responded quickly to any question . Yes I would recommend . Thank you Andrew.

    Lucy2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • It's a real cosy 'nest ', extremely clean and relaxing .we would happily return one day

  • Andy's place is beautiful. It's a perfect place to relax as a couple and their dog. The decor is fab and the amenities great. Loved the touches for breakfast!

    Abbie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated cosy little place. The host Andy was very generous with the amenities available, everything you would want for a short stay and was there.

    Abby2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is adorable and beautiful with lovely comfy facilities and lots of personal touches for the guests who stay there. Andrew was easy to get a hold of while being very welcoming and answered every question even providing good places nearby to eat or bus and train options for those who need it. Would easily recommend this place as it was nice location and lovely accommodation and hosting.

Character cottage, dating from the early 1800's with a wealth of original features such as mullion windows, beamed ceilings having views of the Colne Valley and beyond. This grade II listed cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway and/or for walking and cycling (as long as you like hills!). Golcar pronounced "Goker" ("L" is silent in local pronunciation) is a village located on a hillside crest above the Colne Valley in West Yorkshire. It is 3.3 miles away from the Huddersfield town centre.
The Kitchen There is a fully fitted modern kitchen with fridge, washer/Dryer, Dishwasher and Freezer. There is plenty of cutlery, crockery, glassware, utensils etc. There is tea coffee condiments etc. We provide a welcome pack which usually consists of bread, butter, milk , eggs, and cereals. If you are vegan or would prefer something different let us know and we will try to accommodate your preferences. The Lounge There is a spacious lounge with beamed ceiling, stone mullion windows and door surround, pine dining table and chairs, antique ottoman, antique delph (plate) rack, pew in front of the window and corner cabinet. There is a sofa bed and a "smart" TV and speaker/docking station with blue tooth connectivity to stream music. Polished wooden floor, and central heating radiator. The lounge overlooks the south facing paved terraced garden. The Bedroom The bedroom is spacious having a king size bed with quality mattress, pillows and bed linen so that a good nights sleep is assured. The ceiling is beamed and the room has stone mullion windows overlooking the garden There is a monks pew below the window, bed side cabinets and two antique chests of drawers, a corner wardrobe and an additional hanging rail. central heating radiator. The mullioned windows give plenty of light (This is where the weaving would have been done in days gone by) There are views over the garden and valley. The Landing With balustrade, this gives access to the bathroom, very spacious bedroom, and large walk-in storage cupboard which has a vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board, cleaning materials, spare towels , loo rolls etc. It also provides additional clothes hanging space if required. Beamed ceiling and stone mullioned window. The spacious bathroom with fully tiled floor and walls, having a large corner bath for a luxurious soak, separate shower, heated towel rail washbasin and WC . We provide loo rolls, towels, shampoo etc. Beamed ceiling. The garden This is a south facing sun trap with long distance views and giving a high degree of privacy. It is paved and on four separate levels. We keep it planted up with lots of containers.. There are two separate seating areas with tables and chairs and we have two large parasols for shade when needed. Chill out with a glass of wine. I've seen wild deer on the path that runs down the side of the house and garden. Parking There is free but limited parking on Clay Well and sometimes it can be difficult to find a spot. To help guests I can sometimes leave a car parked opposite the cottage which I move on their arrival. We live approximately 150 yards from the cottage down a steep hill and can also make a parking place available for you there if need be. There is additional parking on the road at the end- Carr Top Lane. There is a free car park in the village centre which is not far from the cottage but up a steep hill. Many of the roads in Golcar are quite narrow so it's best to fold in your wing mirrors. The owners of the large building to the right of the cottage - "Millbarn" have asked that we do not park on their side of the road right outside Millbarn as it can cause an obstruction. I've always tried to respect that so ask guests to as well although it should be OK for unloading/loading luggage.
The Colne Valley is a steep sided valley on the east flank of the Pennine Hills in the English county of West Yorkshire. It takes its name from the River Colne which rises above the town of Marsden and flows eastward along the floor of the valley. The name is generally used to describe that section of the valley of the River Colne that lies between its source and the town of Huddersfield, which lies at the point where the River Holme joins the River Colne. Less often, the name is used to describe the whole valley of the Colne, including the section through Huddersfield and on to the confluence of the Colne with the River Calder at Cooper Bridge. Using the more common definition, the Colne Valley includes the towns and villages of Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Milnsbridge and Golcar. Slaithwaite is a 2 mile walk or short drive along the valley where there are some interesting shops, bars and restaurants. The Colne Valley played a significant role in the development of the Industrial Revolution. Most of the population had been weavers for generations, so when water-powered textile mills were built on the many streams and small rivers in the area, the area was well set to become a major producer of textiles. The River Colne and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal provided early transport links which were soon added to by road and railway links to Huddersfield and Leeds to the east and Manchester and Liverpool to the west. By the end of the Second World War, the importance of the Colne Valley as a centre of textile production had begun to decrease. The area is now primarily residential and has excellent transport links. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal was reopened in 2001 and boat trips into Standedge Canal Tunnel are available; the National Trust advertises walks on Marsden Moor Estate; and television programmes such as Last of the Summer Wine and Where the Heart Is have been filmed there.
  • Absolutely brilliant place to stay. It was our second time staying at Clay Well and it was a a good as the first. Brilliant touches with the welcome pack of provisions. Looking forward to staying again in the future. Many thanks again Robert and Annie Micheal and Debs

  • Incredible stay! A lot of lovely thoughtful touches -including vegan milk and butter and bread and fruit. Robert met me and showed me everything in the cottage. There was everything I could have needed including local walks and menus. Bath is incredible and the whole place is wonderfully cosy. Can't recommend it enough! Thank you!

  • We stayed here for 3 nights, the whole experience was definitely much more than we expected! It is a very unique upside down cottage with a lot of history, very warm, cosy and welcoming. The bath is luxurious and the bed is comfortable. Robert is a great host, he greeted us on arrival and showed us around, and even provided us with vegan milk, butter, bread and fresh fruit for our stay. The electric fireplace is great and really warms up the living room, and Netflix is also provided on the smart TV. We would love to stay here again, we hope to come in the summer and make use of the garden! Thank you for having us. Kasia and Lewis

Our newly developed property is comprised of a 1 bedroom bungalow with high vaulted ceiling, opening out to a spacious and private outside area which is south facing. Off road parking for two vehicles is available and the distance from neighbours provides a quiet, peaceful and relaxing stay - a home from home. We are in the heart of the Colne Valley, 10 minues drive from the M62, and highly accessible to both Leeds and Manchester, either by road or train.
We offer a newly converted development that has stuck to quality as the key to attracting new and returning visitors. A spacious bedroom and lounge area open out to a grass and patio sun trap. We have off street parking for two vehicles and are ideally located for those wishing to commute to Huddersfield, Leeds or Manchester. For those wanting to relax and soak up the delights of the Yorkshire hills and villages, our bungalow is perfectly situated for travel to one of the many famous tourist attractions in our area.
A stay at The Button Box lands you very close to many well reviewed and highly thought of eating establishments, and we can thoroughly reccommend a walk down the tow path of the canal (see picures) to Slaithwaite, (30mins approx) recently reviewed in The Guardian in a list of the top 10 places to visit. It has many Artisan food outlets and boutique shops, and is a starting place for many a good Pennine Walk. It also has a regular train service to Manchester and as such is an ideal location for commuting. Marsden Jazz Festival attracts 1000's of visitors in October every year and being 15 mins drive from The Button Box is well worth a visit. Those that would like a quieter walk in the hills can enjoy the many views from Scapegoat Hill and beyond of the whole of West Yorkshire. Other more local eateries within waliking distance that we can wholly recommend include The Scapehouse Inn and The Duck and Spoon. The Holme Valley, including of course Holmfirth, Last of the Summer Wine country, is also a great trip out for the day. Take a walk around the Last of the Summer Wine museum, have a cup of tea at the famous Cafe, become acquainted with the beautiful and unique shops, or even catch a gig at the popular Holmfirth Pitcuredrome. Further afield, the delights of Saltaire, together with its famous Mill, Haworth, Hebden Bridge, Skipton and of course access to the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales are all within easy reach.
  • Absolutely lovely! We had a lovely night the cottage was better than we expected! Lovely touch with the milk and fresh orange in the fridge very homely. I would definitely recommend!

    Nina2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • The button box has everything you might need all packaged in a cosy cottage like space! Even breakfast is provided!

    Miriam2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is lovely and well worth the money with some very thoughtful touches such as the fresh bread on our arrival. The only small issues we had were with the water which was very sensitive, one second it'd be very cold then turning the tap slightly made it too hot, and also arriving in a Land rover down a small poorly maintained road with no much room to reverse park. The hosts are lovely, quick at responding and the place was very clean. It is great value for money and overall I'd definitely recommend it. The bed is also extremely comfy.

    Laura2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cosy stay at the button box! Rebekah and Pete were very accommodating and provided a hair dryer at such short notice. A few lovely touches such as milk, orange juice and fresh bread provided.

Large studio flat on 3 levels within original Sanctuary of Westwood. - kitchen and dining area; main living area & upper level; separate bathroom (with a bath).

  • This was the perfect place for a tranquil weekend. Great location, value for money, and has everything you need. The kitchen is simple but had everything necessary to cook all my meals. There were no spices/seasoning so remember to bring your own. I couldn’t find a chopping board or good knife - but I’m sure Nikki would have responded if I felt I needed these! The bed was big and very comfortable. Will be coming back again in the future!

The space has private, independent access and open aspects to the front and rear. Private parking space included. There is a side garden to sit in on summer evenings/BBQ. Would suit family and friends visiting students at Huddersfield University. Also people working away from home in the area.
The space is the whole of the top floor of our end terraced three story house. The house is on an unadopted farm road in a wooded area with fields around it (where horses are kept). It is approximately 100m from the tarmac lane.

  • Nice little place. Carol was a great host, would stay again for sure!

    Brandon2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Carol has thought of everything to make a stay extra special....short of a butler or maid serving us breakfast in bed l can't think of anything that wasn't thought of and catered for. Being also a science teacher she has come up with a winning formula!!!

    John2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's space was great. It is a private space with great amenities. The area is stunning with lots of opportunities for walking and exploring the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

  • Great place and nice vibe. Felt like at home in my parent's! Hostess is a wonderful Bhutanese lady. She lives with her English husband. She has just started hosting people thru airbnb so she is still figuring out some issues but I felt she was very professional :) Nice room and good location. It's a private room and she let me use her kitchen and some other facilities as well. There's a bus stop in a minute walk which takes you to Huddersfield town, Manchester etc. Just one thing to know that you don't have your private bathroom. Still it's right next to you and I wasn't bothered much. She knew about this issue and is trying to figure out how to change the settings. Overall it was a very nice experience. If you want something more than just a room to stay, I definitely recommend to stay with her. She likes to talk and has lots of interesting stories. She also likes to listen and learn about different cultures. She even cooked me some nice momo and chicken soup at my last day. Definitely recommend!

The Lookout is part of Westwood Christian Centre - a 19th century church building converted into beautiful self-contained flats. The moment you walk into The Lookout - after you have caught your breath from the incredible views over the Colne Valley -- you will notice the beautifully retained features of the church building. Spacious and high-ceilinged, the Lookout studio flat is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, or people needing to get away from it all.
The Lookout provides self-catering accommodation with a well-equipped kitchen. The main living & dining area features two beautiful clear glazed arched windows; lovely views to South West and North West and as well as central heating, there is a gas fireplace - which you are more than welcome to use. There is also access to a washer, dryer and iron in a separate utility room in the building which we can make available to you upon request. We have awe-inspiring landscapes on our doorstep, and we are nestled in the Pennine hills surrounded by rambling walks and stunning views. Located in Bolster Moor, you can discover what neighbouring Yorkshire villages (Golcar, Scapegoat Hill, Slaithwaite) have to offer. We intentionally don't have any televisions in the flats, however, we do have WiFi and 4G if you do need to catch up with the world.
We're set in a lovely little community up on a hill, overlooking the village of Slaithwaite.
  • We had an all round 5* stay here at Westwood. Even in the rain and storms The Lookout provided spectacular views of West Yorkshire and it was a warm, calm and spacious place to retreat to. Ellie was always on hand if we needed anything and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be back!

    Samantha2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for being such great hosts. The view was incredible and the layout and furnishings within the main space were also top notch. If I am ever over this way again, I would be delighted to stay here again.

  • Such a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful place. The kitchen is very well appointed and the flat is airy and spacious. Loved being ensconsed in a 19th century church, its structure being beautifully preserved. Old narrow roads made it somewhat challenging to navigate the short distance to town, but that comes with the territory. The hosts/wardens are wonderful, warm, and helpful.

    Marty2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic overnight stay here, the views are amazing. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

  • Superb place - lovely surroundings, good furnishings, spotlessly clean and great value for money. I met Jake on my arrival and he was really helpful and pointed out a few places to go in the local area. The location itself is great - amazing views and only a short drive to nice local town/shops. Incredibly peaceful atmosphere, and the quality of the apartment itself is great in both furnishings and cleanliness, especially when you consider the price. Would definitely come back, thank you.

    Cameron2019-09-16T00:00:00Z

Willow house is a newly refurbished three storey, two bedroomed Victorian terrace house in the Colne Valley village of Golcar, West Yorkshire. Benefitting from all modern fixtures & fittings whilst retaining many of the original features.
Willow House is one half of a larger house (two adjoining terrace homes ) it is in itself a self contained terraced house, we live in the other part of the house that is totally private from the Airbnb property . There is an adjoining double door in the basement kitchen between the houses which is always locked when Airbnb visitors are in residence. PLEASE NOTE! ..... *The house is in a quiet neighbourhood with other adjacent houses, if you are looking for a ‘party ‘ house please look elsewhere* Willow house is spread over three floors with two internal staircases, please note that the staircases are quite steep, there are also three steps up to the front door from the roadside and three steps to get out to the back garden from the basement kitchen, this maybe a consideration for guests of limited mobility. Fully centrally heated. Top floor - Stripped wood flooring throughout the upstairs. Two bedrooms, one single and one double, the double bedroom has wonderful views across the valley. A toilet and wash basin are located on the landing of this floor for ease of access by both bedrooms ( there are two toilets in the house the second toilet is located in the shower room ) Ground floor - Original stone floor, partially covered with rugs. This spacious sitting room has a large sofa which pulls out to make the extra bed. *The sofa bed as described above in this listing is in a COMMON SPACE! Please be aware upon booking that the sofa bed is not in a private room separate from the rest of the house* Electric stove heater in the fireplace. TV, books, games. Also on this floor is the Shower room/ wet room, with a rainfall shower, hand basin, and the second toilet. Basement- Original stone floor. Fully fitted kitchen with a Beliing range cooker, fridge with a small ice box, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee pod machine, and all the usual kitchen utensils etc, guests can also have access to a washing machine or have their washing done by the owner. A selection of starter breakfast items are provided on arrival, bread, butter, jam, eggs, milk, cereal, tea & coffee. Patio doors lead out to a small sunny south facing garden, with flower beds, a bench and a patio table. The small patio garden is elevated above a back lane and is a quiet area with lovely views across the valley. Please note that the garden adjoins our garden next door ( although it is separated by a low fence) and also has steps down to the back lane that can also be accessed by the neighbour in the house above, therefore the garden is not exclusively private.
Golcar is a hillside village within the Colne Valley an area steeped in Industrial Revolution history. The house would be a perfect base to explore many areas in The North of England, with The Yorkshire Dales to the North and The Peak District to the South. The Pennine Way is also close by which winds it’s way along ‘ The Backbone Of England’ walking North through Yorkshire to reach its ultimate destination of the Scottish border, some sections of this walk can be accessed from the house as day walks. We are both keen walkers and can advise on some locals walks, for example walking along the canal towpath to the next villages is always a favourite, explore Slaithwaite 2 miles away, Marsden 5 miles away and the visitor centre at Tunnel End -Standedge Tunnel the longest, deepest, highest canal tunnel in Britain. The Titanic Spa is a well known Spa health and beauty retreat a 10 -15 min walk from the house along the canal or a 5 min drive away. Huddersfield town centre is 3 miles from the house. The house is 2 miles approx from Junction 23/24 of The M62
  • This was our third visit to Willow House. Each time we stay we are never disappointed. Spotlessly clean and thoughtful touches throughout the house. My family and I absolutely love staying here and will be back.

    Louise2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This house was spectacular, the views were incredible and Carole is so lovely! The kitchen was well equipped with everything you'd need (I made a full roast with no issues). Carole had so thoughtfully left milk and butter in the fridge and locally sourced bread for us to eat. There is a guide to the local area with some great ideas and very specific directions for some local walks. There was so much attention to detail and the house itself was beautiful and so clean! The shower was a powerful rainfall shower and could have happily spent all day in there! I only wish we had been able to stay longer, but we will be back! Thank you so much!

The Stables is a newly converted self contained living space, maintaining original features such as exposed beams. It comprises a double bedroom, kitchen (fridge, microwave, toaster, induction ring and George Forman grill) bathroom and living area. It's position on the edge of the Pennines is an ideal place to explore the surrounding countryside. It has off road parking for one car. Guests can be assured of a warm welcome.
There are Pubs within walking distance The Beaumont Arms at Netherton ( can be reached via a road or pretty walk through Dean Wood). The Bulls Head at Linthwaite is a 30 minute walk and The Wills’o’Nats, featured on Happy Valley is a traditional rural pub reached within a similar time via Blackmoor Foot reservoir. If walking at night you will need a torch as apart from the road walk to The Beaumont Arms there are no street lights. A short drive away there are eating places at Slaithwaite Marsden, Meltham and Honley.

Welcome to my home, a beautiful 200 year old weavers cottage. Located in the rural village of Slaithwaite, close to all the amenities. The cottage is full of character with exposed beams, and a warm, welcoming feel to it. It is the perfect getaway destination. Close to fantastic walks and cycle routes, with breathtaking scenery right on your doorstep. Whether it's along the canal or up onto the moors. The village and surrounding areas have many local businesses, bars and restaurants.
The cottage is situated in a quite, green and leafy location, on a quiet road. Built of stone, with exposed beams and a great fire to put your feet up in front of. The cottage mixes old world charm with a modern twist.
The village of Slaithwaite is a short 5 minutes walk to the centre. There are beautiful local shops, antiques, greengrocer's, butchers, cafe's, restaurants and bars, as well as Aldi. There is a scenic walk along the canal to Marsden. The cottage is situated 3 minutes walk from the bus stop, with buses to Marsden and Huddersfield. 15 minute walk to the train station, with trains to Leeds and Manchester.

  • Easy booking and great communication. The cottage was lovely and clean with so many thoughtful touches. We had use of the whole property which is important to us, we like our privacy and this place ticked all the boxes. A welcome letter explained how to use everything and local places which were recommended. Thank you Jane for a lovely stay, much better and cheaper than using a hotel and being stuck in just one room.

  • My girlfriend and I had a magical weekend staying here; cooking, exploring and relaxing together, in a little zen haven. It was just what we needed, a brilliant quiet location and beautiful space that felt like home. We highly recommend it! :)

  • Amy's place was perfect for our needs. We attended a wedding near by and found that the four of us could get ready in the house with ease. The location meant we were only minutes away from the M62 and the venue in Lindley. The kitchen was very well equiped with pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. The beds were comfy and rooms were clean. The instructions for the house were clear and Amy has been great with communicating details.

    Samuel2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication from amy, lovely creative, cosy home, well situated for trips into Huddersfield and beyond.

  • Cute and stylish space with one of the comfiest sofa beds I've ever slept on! Amy was really responsive and a pleasure to deal with.

  • Very conveniently located for visiting family in Rastrick. It was a cold rainy couple of days and the house was beautifully warm and cosy. Lots of nice touches, including slippers to wear and Netflix on voice command. The Tesco Express opposite was extremely convenient, with a Greggs next to it and a restaurant next door to the house. We appreciated the garden, despite the weather. Communication was great and Amy made it easy for us to get in without any hassle. Thanks for letting us stay!

  • Another great stay!

    Tony2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • First time using Airbnb (although have used other similar sites) so rightly so, was a bit nervous. Angela is a great host, and gave a really warm welcome. Directions to the house were spot on. Her home is immaculate, and very stylish! The rooms provided for guests are spotlessly clean, comfortable and homely. The bed is seriously comfortable and I slept like a log! Totally recommend staying here to anyone considering it!

    Tony2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay.

    Carl2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was genuinely the best Airbnb stay I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few! I was given tips right from the start on where to get food from and which taxi company to use to save money. When I arrived. I felt so welcomed and looked after. Angela had thought of everything - down to some emergency paracetamol and toiletries. Her and her husband are amazing hosts and really care about guests comfort. I had access to the kitchen, where I joined them for breakfast on my final day, and to a private lounge space which was cosy and stylish. The house itself is modern, clean and warm with amazing plush carpets. The private bathroom is again very clean and modern with a lovely big shower. The bed is super comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets (something I struggle with usually when doing Airbnb is a lack of supportive pillows). Although it’s a stay in someone’s house, there was plenty of space to keep to myself if I wanted without feeling uncomfortable at all. It’s in a super location, only about 25 minutes walk from the centre. They truly went above and beyond as hosts and I would genuinely go back to Huddersfield just to stay with them! We had some lovely and interesting conversations. It was like staying with a best friend’s parents, which is a big compliment.

Tyas Cottage is located in a small hamlet within an idyllic local beauty spot on the site of the first water-powered mill in the Colne Valley, near Slaithwaite and 7 miles from Huddersfield. Tyas Cottage is south facing within the sheltered, wooded valley, Merrydale, and at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. Tyas Lane is an ancient, cobbled pack-horse route and, apart from the sound of falling water, the property is quiet and rural. Please note that, due to the pandemic we now have a "deep clean" (to government guidance for employers) between bookings and a more flexible cancellation policy. This property is ideal for people wishing to self-isolate.
Our guests seem to particularly enjoy the quiet, secluded, rural location. They often walk up through the woods on the ancient packhorse route that leads to the Rose and Crown with its delicious beer (it is not suitable for the old and infirm).  Also much commented on is our steep, narrow, cobbled access lane. We are happy to ferry guests up and down the hill when there might be snow or ice on the road, but even large ambulances are able to get up and down in normal weather. The cottage is furnished with very special antique furniture, much of it brought over from South Africa. This includes a hand-carved Georgian mahogany 4 poster bed. The gardens contain several sculptural features. The metal pods that hang from a tree next to the millpond are very well used. There is a charging point for electric cars.
Slaithwaite is a vibrant village and definitely "on the up". It is a lovely walk down Merrydale to Slaithwaite (about 25 minutes). The seat of the industrial revolution, the topography of this district is very varied with its tight little valleys in between vast heather-clad moorland. There are loads of varied and interesting walks in the area. Tunnel End could be a destination if one were to walk along the canal from Slaithwaite to Marsden. The Pennine Way is quite near to Tyas Cottage.
  • Tyas cottage is a lovely stay for those who like to walk due to its settings ... Down quite a steep country lane past sign saying road is not passable to vehicles, don't be put off and continue down the lane...

    Anna2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Haven of tranquility just 5-10 minutes off the M62

    David2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful two night stay at Tyas Cottage to visit a friend in Slaithwaite. The cottage is comfortable and full of character. We had a lovely meal at Devour in Holmfirth - highly recommended. I’m sure we’ll be back.

  • The most stunning location and such a beautiful cottage, located a little off the beaten track - which was what we wanted. A little treacherous in wet weather but no complaints from us. Victoria was next door to hand if there was a problem, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place.

    Maria2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Tyas cottage was really great. The interior is well thought of and has a uique style that we really enjoyed. The house is very well equipped ans the rooms are big and nice.if you like it a little bit rural and quiet this cottage is perfect for you.

    Dorena2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tyas Cottage is beautiful, restful, comfortable and the flowers from the garden a lovely touch. The garden itself is stunning, we wished we could just spend a day there.

  • A stunning location and a well-furnished property. The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming and the house is immaculate. There are lots of local walks or you can just relax in the lovely garden. The beds are very comfortable too!

    Rebecca2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • What can be said other 5 STARS. We absolutely loved our stay at Tyas Cottage. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Victoria (the host) answered many questions prior to our visit and even spoke to me before we planned our trip to the UK from Texas. I was a little worried than the 9-seater van we had hired would not fit down the lane since I had read in the description that the lane was narrow and steep. There was nothing to worry about at all and our 9-seater Hyundai van easily navigated down the road to the cottage. Victoria was not only great in terms of communication prior to the visit but also met us when we arrived and gave us a great overview of the area and everything we needed to know about the cottage. With a 2 week stay we really wanted to know that we had chosen the right place for the vacation. We were super happy with our choice and it could not have been a better stay. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and in such an idyllic setting. Our 4 children were in heaven exploring the secret garden and tithe surrounding areas. It was so peaceful and yet also so close to all the things you need. A local grocery store within 5-10 minutes drive and with access to the M62 only 10 minutes away we were so well positioned to visit Manchester, Leeds and beyond. Everything we needed on a long trip away from home was there. We missed Tyas Cottage as soon as had to leave. If we could rate more than 5 stars we would. We highly recommend!

Bright, cheerful apartment in The Pennines, with beautiful scenery and very close to the popular town of Holmfirth. We are welcoming and friendly and can provide plenty of useful information about the area, which is excellent walking and cycling country. There are some amazing walks only a few minutes walk from the apartment. Pleasant views overlooking attractive gardens.
The apartment has its own private entrance approached from the left side of the house. Disabled access is possible with a stair lift and wider than average doors. Parking space is available on the left side of the house driveway.
Meltham is a small friendly village with shops, amenities and regular public transport. It is very easy to travel to other places and convenient for many events such as Marsden jazz festival and Holmfirth folk festival. There are lots of local events in the Kirklees area. Easy access into Derbyshire, The Lake District and The Dales.
  • 2nd visit to this flat which is convenient for the village centre. A long term tenant is moving on soon so this flat may be more available soon and getting a refresh.

Our contemporary apartment is set in a quiet location in the village of Longwood, 2.5 miles west of Huddersfield. It is approximately 5 minutes drive from junc 23 on the M62 and is situated approximately halfway between the cities of Leeds and Manchester. In the nearby areas there is an abundance of beautiful countryside, canals and walks to explore, the Pennine Way being the most well known. It is a great location to be based at to explore Huddersfield and the surrounding areas.
The apartment is situated on the third floor of a converted mill in favored corner position with a bright aspect. There is a smart entrance area with a lift to all floors of the building. There is an allocated parking space but also visitor parking in a nearby separate car park The apartment itself has an open plan living area with furniture including a double sofa bed to accommodate two of the four guests for maximum capacity. Please note there is no television or wifii available in this apartment There is a dining space and kitchenette fitted with a washing machine (guests need to bring their own washing powder), dishwasher and fridge freezer. Washing up products are supplied . The bedroom is a good size with a double bed and a range of fitted units for clothes storage. The bathroom is modern with a white suite and over bath shower. Towels are supplied but guests do need to bring their own toiletries and also a hair dryer if required There is a iron and ironing board in the hallway storage.

  • What a beautiful apartment and lovely old mill conversion. Really beautifully decorated and nice touches. The bed is really comfortable and lovely bedding. As a lone female traveler I liked that it was a very secure building with parking. Really can not recommend Hannah’s place enough. Looking forward to staying again soon. Check in was perfect with the lockbox. Thank you for a very enjoyable comfortable stay.

  • A lovely flat in a very interesting & tastefully converted Victorian Industrial Mill. The flat was warm and cosy with some interesting views across the rooftops out to the hills beyond. It's a very quiet location at the top of a hill, in an architecturally lovely part of the city. Pretty much everything you'd need was provided, but future guests do need to be aware that you need to bring your own entertainment - there is no TV or radio, and no books or games. You need to bring your own tea & coffee too. Otherwise perfect for long or short stays. Thank you.

    Lesley2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic apartment in an old mill building although it is on the third floor it is serviced by a lift and is furnished very comfortably. We found it to be extremely clean with all mod cons. The apartment and surrounding areas were very quite at all times. We wanted to visit some areas in West Yorkshire and also the peak district which we found the apartment to be very central to all of those places. I would definately recommend this apartment and the hosts.

  • This apartment is modern and spotlessly clean in a beautiful Yorkshire village setting. Furnishing and linen seemed brand new and luxurious. • Hannah and Sarah's hospitality and very efficient communication was an absolute life saver. Quickly turning what turned out to be an Airbnb nightmare from another shambolic host to a truly elegant and memorable stay. The property is to very high standards and I love the interior aesthetic matching brick walls to a modern living space. The property is as described if not better. Great location amongst a block of modern and newly built flats (quiet and not too far from town). The hosts were also super nice, going out of their way to make provision for extra amenities. Loved the place, great host and I'll definitely be visiting again when I'm back in Huddersfield

This is a roomy double bedroom at the front of the house, with the bathroom opposite, shared with me.
Bedroom has drawers and hangers. Bathroom opposite, with shower over the bath. Kitchen leads through to conservatory, with seating and eating area, which opens onto the garden, backing onto woods.
Quiet residential road, garden backs onto woods, frequented by birds and squirrels.
  • Everything was very nice and comfortable. Good place to stay.

  • Loved staying with Tina. She's very pleasant, and her cat is also very friendly. Her house is very nicely decorated and full of beautiful things. Allergy sufferers be aware, the bedding is feather. I would stay here again
