  • We stayed here for my birthday on the 20th March. It was even better than I could have imagined. Incredibly cosy and a wonderful escape during these stressful times! Andy was more than attentive and it seemed like there was so request too great. It’s an amazing location and the cabin has everything you could need - even hand gel!!!! We will be back with the dog next time to explore the surrounding walks! If your pizzas end up as bad as ours then we recommend the The Lyon Inn pub... the fish and chips were incredible - even as a takeaway. Thank you again. Beth + Fred x

  • If you’re looking for a hideaway this is the perfect place. A gorgeous log cabin with views over the woods, complete with a pizza oven, decking with outdoor seating and a separate outdoor toilet in the next log cabin. If you love cosy this is the place! We hope to come back again soon, although fear it may get booked up very quickly!!

  • This is the perfect place to stay if you just want to get away from everything. The log cabin is lovely and cosy and has heating if it gets a bit cold at night. I loved looking at all of the quirky items which were placed all around the cabin, they were a nice touch. The patio area is lovely too, I enjoyed relaxing by the fire in the evening and making pizza to cook in the pizza oven. If you want to get away from the stresses of every day life then this is the place to stay.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. A beautiful secluded spot to relax and a lovely cabin. The host was very helpful and easy to contact throughout our stay. There was information about places to eat which helped us find a lovely restaurant called the Farmers Boy Inn which had amazing pies. We would love to visit again!

    Stephanie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay, an amazing, cosy little haven indeed. And the family go above and beyond for you. We’ll certainly be returning!

  • Haven on the Hill is a fantastic getaway for people wanting a peaceful relaxing time. Andrew and Vicky were attentive to our needs and went above and beyond providing games for us to play. 9 lives the chicken was a fantastic wake up call. We will definitely be staying again!! There are lots of natural beauty spots locally to see but the view from the cabin takes some beating.

  • This is such a lovely little place to stay ,the caravan is beautiful and everything you could need is thought of. We especially enjoyed the outside firepit, great for cooking meals on. Definitely a memorable experience ,would love to stay again sometime!

    Tanya2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Percy's Gypsy Wagon was, somehow, even better than we had expected. Despite the small size of the caravan, it was extremely well stocked, with lots of kitchenware and plenty of blankets (and a wood stove!). Andy and Vicky were kind, helpful, and attentive hosts, and Percy, Max, and the chicken were all delightful! I would highly recommend a stay here.

    Abigail2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The wagon is truly fantastic! Perfect location and the hosts are great. They went the extra mile to make my stay special - nothing was too much.

    Leanne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cosy little spot! Exactly as described in the listing. Would recommend walking to the forest bakehouse for lunch!

    Xannie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning, peacefully, tranquil, surreal, chilled, nostalgic I mean their would be so many ways to describe this place all of them good, thank you for allowing us to stay, it was brilliant.

    Stuart2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely unique place to stay to unwind and spend some time away . Communication with the hosts was great and thanks for recommending the farmers boy for dinner! X

    Stephanie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect cosy and unusual escape from modern life!

    Sue2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I enjoyed the most splendid three nights at the wagon (we gathered form the reviews that one night only would not suffice). It was great to settle in and get comfortable in the space. We loved how it felt only a few degrees off from camping; it was rustic but cozy and we made do in the small but cleverly-set up space. The adjacent outhouse was adorable and we loved the quirky decor. Andy and Vicky were the best hosts with whom I've ever had the pleasure of staying in my years of using Airbnb; they were present and helpful, offering great tips, taking our dishes to wash, and keeping our water jugs filled. Defiantly plan to book with them again and would highly recommend to others. One thing I will say is that the wagon may be a bit tight for taller guests; the bed, which spans the width of the wagon, fit my friend and me but we're on the shorter side; not sure my husband would have been quite as comfortable, so something to consider when deciding to book.

Welcome to Butterrow Gate, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Butterrow Gate is a distinctive, beautifully renovated Grade II listed property which sits proudly on Butterrow Hill on the outskirts of the market town of Stroud. Located in the heart of the stunning "Five Valleys" region of the Cotswolds, Stroud is well known for its bohemian vibe and eclectic mix of shops, with Jasper Conran describing the weekly Farmers' Market held in the town as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". The Five Valleys converge on Stroud and contain some of the most beautiful countryside Britain has to offer. Butterrow Gate is also well placed for exploring further afield, with the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham both within easy reach. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
The green front door opens into an entrance hall which houses the washing machine/tumble dryer, and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: Laid with beautiful flagstone flooring, this uniquely shaped room features original Cotswold stone walls, pretty stone mullion windows and a cosy wood burning stove. Tastefully decorated, this room contains a sofa, a footstool and an armchair, along with a Freesat TV with DVD player and a small dining table with drop down leaves which comfortably seats two; Kitchen: This compact yet well-equipped space contains an electric oven with four ring-induction hob, a dishwasher, Morphy Richards coffee machine, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a kettle and toaster; Family bathroom: Located off the entrance hall, this room contains a walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living area directly into the characterful bedroom: Master bedroom: With original Elm floorboards dating back to 1825, and exposed Cotswold stone walls, this bedroom has a romantic ambience and stunning views from the stone mullion windows over the pretty market town of Stroud and the surrounding valley. There is a pretty wrought iron double bed and two occasional chairs, as well an ornamental stone fireplace and a double wardrobe. The stable door from the bedroom opens onto the outside patio area decorated with pretty pots and featuring the walk-on glass area directly above the kitchen. Three steps lead up to a larger patio area with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the market town of Stroud. This private, sunny space has an outdoor table, two chairs and a wooden bench, perfect for relaxing on warm summer days. A charcoal barbecue is provided from April to September, and there is a chiminea for cooler evenings. The outside space can also be accessed via a right of way through the neighbour’s garden and on street parking is available close to the property.
Encircled by five sweeping valleys opening out to the River Severn and made famous by Laurie Lee's novel "Cider with Rosie", the scenery is dramatic around Stroud. The town and its surrounding villages provide a great base from which to explore the undiscovered south Cotswolds, as well as for day trips to Bristol and Bath. London is just a 90 minute direct train away. At a time when the prevalence of chain stores has turned many of Britain's High Streets into copies of each other, Stroud is a welcome relief. With a bohemian vibe and an enviable array of independent shops, Stroud offers a unique shopping experience unrivalled by any town or city in the locality. Brimming with character and standing amidst the dramatic backdrop of the Five Valleys, Stroud has an eclectic mix of shops in the most beautiful of settings. The award-winning Farmers' Market is held each Saturday and is one of the best in the country, described by Jasper Conran as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". Throughout the summer months, street performers will entertain you every Saturday morning and there is a full programme of music and theatre throughout the year – a true hub of cultural events. Stroud is a place that repays investigation, especially for the quality and variety of artists at work in the area – you could also choose to take part in one of the many traditional workshops! Food & Drink Stroud has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: JRooL Bistro (www.jrool.co.uk): JRooL Bistro is a fine example of the sum of its parts being greater than the whole. The team has a passion for food and wine, such that the end result is an experience of food, wine and service that is, simply, award winning. The flexibility of the dining room encourages leisurely family lunches, business dining, appetisers and drinks at the bar, pre-theatre dinners or a full gastronomic experience; No 23 Bar & Bistro: No 23 is a popular, independent Stroud Bar, Café and Restaurant, specialising in tapas and Mediterranean fare. The fully stocked bar serves choice wines, beers and aperitifs to complement the extensive menu; Sorrento Italian Restaurant (www.sorrentostroud.co.uk): The menu offers superb presentations of traditional favourites, such as pizzas, pasta, succulent steaks, chicken and fish dishes, all served in a relaxing, friendly environment. Stroud also has a wide range of food retailers, including an award winning Farmers' Market, held every Saturday.
  • Full of character, had everything we needed.

    Jessica2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great, special and quirky space. Amenities were great and the place was sparkling clean, would definitely recommend and stay again. I imagine it would be spectacular in the summer. Jut watch out for stepping right onto quite a busy road where traffic comes roaring past. Parking was also tricky.

    Lou2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Property was lovely and perfect for a few days away. Tip: don't park opposite the property as you will get a note from one of the neighbours, also take your own milk as this isn't provided. Great stay and great location.

    Joanne2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated, great homely feel and everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

    Anna2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage and it’s more beautiful in real life with an amazing view. Would definitely recommend and return. Not much off street parking but we didn’t mind parking down the hill and walking up. Worth a visit for sure!

    Eleanor2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful winter break at Butterrow gate. The property is gorgeous, very quirky and has everything you need. It is also clean and well presented. The location is great for exploring Stroud and other local villages. The tips provided by the host were perfect. We loved the farmer’s market, the antiques mill and local walks. It is worth noting that the property is on a busy road and you may be kept awake by traffic if you are a light sleeper. We slept like logs from all of the walking! Xx

    Lucy2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at the cottage for a week while exploring the Cotswolds. It was such a lovely place to stay. It is exactly as it looks in the pictures small and super cozy and wonderful. We had a really good time. The place was in a good location if you had a car to explore all the surrounding towns. Without a car the cottage it a little but above the town and therefore is a bit less accessible. Contact with character cottages was easy, check in and out was no issue. The only negative feedback is that the place was a little low on essentials. When we arrived there wasn’t any coffee for the coffee machine and there were no other supplies for cooking other than olive oil. However the kitchen is very sweet and easy to use for home cooked meals. We also weren’t informed beforehand that the washer and dryer machine didn’t work and didn’t find this out till arriving, I thought this would have been great to be told earlier in order to organise our washing. Otherwise the place was the picture perfect cottage and we would definitely stay there again. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone considering it.

Rose Cottage is the last property at the end of a country lane. The Lodge apartment is a very spacious studio flat over the double garage. You will have access to the hot tub and other garden areas where you can enjoy the idyllic rural location and stunning views. You will love Rose Cottage because of the beautiful setting and relaxing environment. It is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers or families with a young child.
The apartment consists of a very large room - bedroom / dining area / lounge space, a newly upgraded spacious shower room and fully equipped kitchen. There is a standard double bed. Also, a put you up single bed and travel cot are available. Laundry facilities are available in our utility room in the cottage.
There are several good pubs nearby; the village of Longhope has a recreation field, village shop and great bakery, where you can also get coffee and delicious snacks and pastries. Hillside Brewery is just over the hill and is popular for tours and there are other micro breweries nearby. Harts Barn Centre has a variety of outlets, including a reputable tea room and a cookery course kitchen.
  • Rose Cottage provides a superb base to explore western Gloucestershire. Close to both the Wye and Severn valleys. We were able to visit National Trust sites at May Hill and Westbury Court and the National Forest sculpture trail at Beechenhurst... but there are also great walks out the back gate and around the valley. ... with a hot tub to come back to recuperate in. The cottage has a lovely view across the valley toward the River Severn, a compact neat kitchen and then a large open plan bedroom with dining / sitting area. The property is on a small farm with entertaining ducks, geese and sheep dogs. The road in can be a little challenging - try not to arrive in the dark! Many thanks to Gail and Roger for a very relaxing week.

    Chris2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely over night stay at Rose Cottage! The farm setting was so lovely to wake up to and watch the chickens, geese and ducks wonder around !! Had a really peaceful, relaxing night away!

    Chloe2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Gail’s was excellent! The space felt very homely and made for a wonderful base to explore Gloucester and the Cotswolds from. The dogs were wonderful and the hot tub was exactly what we needed after a long drive from London. We took a rental car that was a little bigger than we expected and this was a bit tricky on the driveway. We managed fine but if you are not a confident driver this might trip you up. Other than that, all you need to know is that you will love your stay here! Book now :)

    Ryan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy nook, nestled in a hillside, overlooking gorgeous countryside. Our stay was peaceful and restful. Just the tonic.

  • What a view! This is an away-from-it-all space that you can't fail to relax in. The hot tub is a bonus, and the place is a charmingly compact space for two.

  • We stayed here just for one night for my birthday and it was worth every mile from Colchester! It was so clean and stylish, the hosts were so lovely and quick to reply. They even suggested we go to the Green Dragon for dinner which was lovely! We took a walk in the countryside behind the property which was beautiful! Waking up to the rain on the window, looking out over the hills and countryside was perfect! And to top it all off, their dog that we got to meet was so handsome and friendly! Will definitely be staying again, hopefully for longer!!

  • This is one of the cleanest properties I’ve stayed in, with a friendly host as well. The property is cosy, perfect for a weekend away with a significant other - plus there is a nice view and good amenities. Overall I would recommend staying here, it’s very nice indeed!

    Christopher2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to go if you want the traditional feel of the Cotswolds! Very clean, and had all kitchen amenities and utensils. Couch is comfy and you can look at the beautiful view. Upstairs you can go out onto the porch and it is stunning. Good water pressure, they provided soap. Outside the bedroom window, you also have a gorgeous view of the rolling hills. Lots of natural light that comes in through the windows. It didn’t get too warm inside, but it just added to the traditional feel :) They provided us with fresh milk, which was a nice touch. It was cosy inside with nice decor and some books to read. Thank you!

This is a beautiful space with stunning views over the fields towards stroud. It is very simply decorated inside with lovely oak beams and staircase. There is also a wood burning stove for extra warmth in the winter months. From the outside it almost looks like a swiss chalet, and upstairs on the mezzanine floor you will find traditional Japanese Tatami mats and futon beds. There are currently no kitchen facilities apart from a kettle, fridge and microwave.
The Annexe is clad in beautiful Larch wood which gives it a lovely warm glowing look, the floor, doors and stairs are all warm wood too. The Tatami mats and Futon beds are genuine traditional Japanese pieces.
The surrounding area is great for walking and cycling, not far from the town of stroud too which has an award winning farmers market every Saturday which has amazing local produce. Stroud is nestled in the 5 valleys in the heart of the Cotswolds with beautiful countryside all round.
  • Such a lovely space! Beautifully decorated and very cozy. If you don't like a thinner, more firm mattress you may want to steer clear; personally I liked the traditional tatami mats.

    Hilary2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, peaceful space. It was a shame to only spend one night here but we had a great time. Love the Japanese theme!

  • Me and my boyfriend had a lovely weekend stay at the Shepard’s hut, the finishing touches were perfect and Jessica was extremely welcoming and helpful. Would 100% recommend. Looking forward to visiting again.

    Bethany2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a low-key, rural getaway this is it. The hut is lovely, cosy and romantic and Jess makes a great host. We travelled without a car and managed fine with pubs and long walks very nearby, taxi from Gloucester station to the hut £15. Perfect easy weekend break.

    Melissa2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica is the most welcoming and thoughtful host. The cabin was well equipped and decorated beautifully, with very special touches that made it feel like a home from home. Located just a short walk from the River Severn and an amazing pub, you can lose yourself in the magic of the area.

    Sarah2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherd’s hut was a great place to stay, warm & cosy, great welcome. Mince pies and cream was a lovely touch as well as the sparkling drink. Lovely comfy bed, will definitely be coming back 😁 Many thanks Andrew& Joy

  • This really is a gem. The attention to detail and the quality of everything- not to mention the underfloor heating-made this a cosy and luxurious winter escape. Would definitely recommend

Stylish Shepherds Cabin in the heart of the Cotswolds. Free-standing full sized bath, king size bed, two seater sofa and great views. This is as good as camping in the woods gets, no electricity but hot water, plenty of candles and gas to cook on.
This romantic getaway has all you need for a weekend away or a short break. Less than 2 hours from London and an hour from Bristol the Shepherds Cabin is in the heart of the Cotswolds. At the head of the Slad valley, made famous by Laurie Lee's books, especially Cider with Rosie, this idyllic part of the world has changed little since his time. The walk to the Woolpack pub takes an hour and a half and takes you through an unspoilt valley with no houses or humans for the first hour. Or you can drive in 7 minutes. The cabin has hot and cold running water, NO ELECTRICITY, but plenty of candles and torches.
The Cotswolds are an internationally recognised Area of Outstanding Beauty and we are in the middle of it. Just a short walk from The Shepherd's Cabin is at the top of the Slad Valley, made famous in the book Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and explorable via a network of well maintained and signposted paths and tracks. The Gloucestershire wildlife trust has marked a set of paths and routes to celebrate the centenary of the famous writer's birth and most importantly the valley leads you down hill all the way to the Laurie's local pub; The Woolpack. A local institution, The Woolpack is a fantastic local pub in the traditional sense. Good food, great beer, quality locals and the odd fiddly diddly band to get things going. Stroud Farmer's Market is regularly recognised as the best in the country and is open every Saturday from 9-2. It is well worth a visit for some great local produce.
  • Brilliant stay, a lovely cabin perfect for 2 people. Very warm and cosy, some great dinners by candle light. The bath is perfect after a long walk, and beautiful views out of the windows. Make sure to come with wellies! Thank you Sarah for a great stay

    Izzy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Sarah & Rory's little place. It was exactly as expected - a little cabin overlooking fields, with friendly ponies sometimes saying hi as you walk by. There are many public paths in the area connecting different villages (and pubs!) - I loved our visit to Sheepscombe. The cabin has everything you'll need - the heating is keeps it warm, a bath (runs slow to fill, but they let you know when you check in), all necessary kitchen amenities, and biodegradable soap & shampoo. They also have a couple of booklet of recommendations of walks you can do in the nearby area.

  • Lovely setting, great house Toilet is caravan/boat style so not amazing, but not a dealbreaker for us!

    Lachlan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Came here for Valentines Day with my partner. Absolutely loved it! We did get the car stuck in the mud, but the next morning Rory came to help us push it out! It made for a funny morning, did not spoil the stay in the slightest. The cabin is very cosy and an extremely relaxing environment. Although we couldn’t get the heater to work on the last night, we had plenty of blankets and hot water bottles (that we didn’t even need- it was plenty warm) we still enjoyed a nice hot bath. We brought a little speaker with us to have some quiet music playing while we enjoyed the farm eggs left for us from Sarah! We only brought essentials, some groceries that we could cook on the little hob, and some drinks. Had a lovely visit from the horses too which was absolutely hilarious. Would recommend visiting the Fostons Ash and the Woolpack Pub nearby, both are incredible! Thanks so much to Sarah and Rory for our stay.

    Maisie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay here. If you want to have time away from the real world then this is the place! The bath is lovely and the view is great to wake up to. There are candles for the evenings which was so relaxing and everything you need is there. Just remember your wellies!

    Catherine2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s cabin was the perfect weekend getaway from London! There were initial issues with the heater which were sorted out immediately, and other than that the stay was hassle-free. So lovely getting back to basics with no electricity - we didn’t even notice this as the heater worked well as there was a gas stove to cook on. They also provided a cool box though being January we just used outside as a fridge! Really well stocked in terms of pots/pans/cutlery and we appreciated the scrabble/cards/jenga! Thank you also for leaving us some eggs. Cupboard stocked with basic such as tea/oil etc which was handy. Thanks so much!

    Demelza2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for a secluded retreat. With rain, wellies were a must and we did not have them (cautionary tale: bring them next time), but Rory and Sarah gave us a pair that made all the difference. And they helped us finding the right direction in the dark. The access drive is difficult to spot, so I really recommend to arrive with daylight. The cabin is small but perfect for two people, with a lot of small nice touches that made us feel very comfortable, from candles to eggs to books. We'll definitely be back.

Hideaway Shepherd Hut is situated on top of an old cider orchard in the heart of the Gloucestershire country side with views of The Malverns and May Hill. The beautiful Forest of Dean is also a twenty minute drive away. The location is completely private, ideal for visitors looking for a place to relax, unwind and enjoy a cosy, romantic break.
The Shepherd hut is well appointed with all the luxuries including a comfy king size bed and a state of the art bathroom with its unique double sized power shower, complete with radio. There is plenty of hot water, fluffy towels, soaps, shampoo and body cream along with fresh linen and a hairdryer for your use. The Hideaway Shepherd Hut is warm and toasty in the winter months being fitted with both a radiator and a wood burner. The wood burner is seriously effective and easy to use adding to an already romantic feel. If you fancy cooking on top or in the oven of the wood burner, have a go!!! This works very efficiently. The Wood and kindling are included. A microwave is also on hand for your convenience. The fridge will have your fresh milk waiting, along with complimentary tea and coffee. There is a flat screen TV, with plenty of channels to choose from. A docking station is available that you can plug your devices into and also plenty of electrical sockets. Attached to the Shepherd hut is a huge veranda, where you can sit and enjoy the breath taking views and idyllic surroundings. There is plenty of wildlife to watch, foxes, rabbits, monk jack deer and a variety of birds with a well-stocked bird table right outside the window. Our horses, from time to time like to make themselves known which are friendly but not intrusive. For the summer months there is a BBQ and fire pit with lots of comfortable outdoor seating. Fresh meat and produce can be provided from the local farm shop at an extra cost prior to arrival. For your use is a lockable shed where you can store your mountain bikes etc. Space can be provided for a tent, but we do require advance notice.
The Hideaway Hut is situated at the top of an old cider orchard on the edge of Highnam Woods, parts of the RSPB Nature reserve, with footpaths and bridleways from the door to explore. The historical city of Gloucester is 5 miles away, famous for the beautiful Cathedral which was used for the Harry Potter Movies, the historical docks are perfect for a wander along the river with plenty of restaurants to choose from. There are also plenty of country pubs in the area to choose from, many of them along the river Severn. The market town of Newent is 6 miles away where you can get all your supplies, including local produce. All within 30 mins drive you can be in the beautiful Cotswolds, picturesque forest of dean or up in the Malvern Hills, plenty to explore. The nearest train station is at Gloucester.
  • Thank you so much for everything the place was an absolutely stunning place stay. We switched our phones off and forgot about the world outside and basked in the blissful silence (it was like being in a perfect romantic movie scene). We saw so much beautiful widlife and even when it rained it was still so cosy. The hosts were wonderful leaving us to ourselves with everything we needed and also kindly towing our stuck car out of the mud on drive home too. We could not be happier with our stay and can not wait to go back already.

    Tom2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous surroundings, and extremely cozy and comfortable hut. Gillie was quick to respond to any queries and offer help, but the amenities are such that I was able to cook and clean etc. without any hassle. I don't drive but found it easy to get to and from Gloucester via bus, which stops at the top of the road about 10 mins walk away. Can't overstate how great it is for walking. Already planning my next stay

    Robert2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Super hosts Gillie & Libby. Beautiful location and superb accomodation. Extremely cosy and quiet. Exactly what we wanted. Highly likely we will return again in the future (as have others, according to the numerous delighted & returning customers in the guest book).

    Steve2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a find- although we don’t live too far away the total peace and quiet was amazing- a real hide away! We received a very warm welcome from Libby. Breakfast was delivered right on the pre arranged time, a real treat! 100% would recommend a stay here...

    Nina2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gillie was fantastic host with great local knowledge. The Hideaway Hut is a tranquil, cosy place. Beautiful area, lots of wildlife and perfect for long walks in the countryside. Highly recommend

  • Spent 2 relaxing days working and resting at the hideaway hut. Clean, peaceful, comfortable and secluded. Perfect

    John2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect for escaping from the world - secluded with stunning views and surrounded by wildlife. The shepherds hut itself is incredible - the attention to detail is evident throughout. Gillie is a fabulous host, very friendly and on hand if you need anything but not imposing. We had a very special weekend here and will definitely be back! I dare you to not fall in love with this place! Thank you so much Gillie x

    Chelle2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t say enough good things about this little find... seriously stunning and private location. The hut is well equipped - we even made muscles and frites on/in the wood burner as there is an stove/oven like space. It was fun doing tea “bear grylls style” as Robbie called it upon check in. The kettle, toaster and microwave were helpful too of course. Beautiful fire. We felt really cosy and warm the whole time - although tip ;) bring your slippers for the wooden and tiled flooring. We enjoyed lovely walks at May Hill close by and also just behind the hut itself so you can have a car free break! A real treat to rest and relax. Reading or watching a movie. Lovely touches throughout - Gillie and Robbie are delightful hosts! We’re looking for dates for our next visit :)

  • You'll get to stay in an utterly adorable place, that's cosy and stylish at the same time, packed with little thoughtful touches from Caroline and Simon. They are the perfect hosts, warm and friendly. Never intrusive but always on hand to help. Couldn't recommend it more highly

    Mark2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline and Simon’s place is lovely and comfortable and is in a beautiful location, with some incredible views. Getting there is straight forward thanks to the helpful directions sent before our arrival. When we arrived we were welcomed by Simon and the their two very friendly dogs. Simon also gave us some great suggestions of walks in the local area. Checking in and out is simple and straightforward. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the Cotswolds.

    Amena2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline and Simon are lovely Hosts. Both myself and my partner were made to feel completely welcome from the beginning of the trip. Really nice touches and very clean space, nice walks nearby and we were recommended the Woolpack where we had a lovely lunch. Thanks again

    Christopher2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space, really cozy and location was perfect to explore the local area. Lovley pub only 15 mins walk away and perfect place for country walks.

    Eimear2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely detached space above the owner's garage in a quiet, scenic valley. We agree with all the reviews- it was spotlessly clean. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, including breakfast items and some delicious snacks, as well as a basket full of maps and local guides. It was an easy drive to Stroud, Gloucester and many pretty villages. Some great local pubs- we particularly enjoyed meals at the Butcher's Arms; and we also had a fantastic lunch at The Hive in Stow-on-the-Wold. We managed to arrive on the first day of Storm Dennis, and can confirm Caroline and Simon are far enough up the valley to be flood-proof! Despite the storm we had a peaceful stay and were very cosy there.

    Paula2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely loft, clean, quiet and nicely furnished. We felt very cosy and enjoyed all the local walks and visiting The Woolpack. Will definitely stay again!

    Jude2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's place is exactly what you want for a break from London. Full of walks and country side. The little bits of breakfast stuff Caroline provides is a real life saver and Simon was kind enough to drop us off at the train station on the day we checked out. It gets real dark on the country paths so it's great if you know what you are doing. Stroud has it's own character and culture of friendliness. The pubs and independent cafes are real gems and sadly you can start to see how the chains are replacing them so hurry up to Stroud before its too late!

Are you looking for a cosy retreat for two? You may have found what you are looking for …. tucked away at the end of a no-through road in the rural heart of the three counties you will find our shepherd’s hut placed at the centre of Farm Life.
Our Shepherd's hut is situated within a newly planted English Woodland, at the centre of farm life. During the day you will hear the bustle of farm life; animals being fed, lambing, calving, tractors scraping up or harvesting. At night you will be enveloped by a huge sky and hear the hooting of Barn and Little Owls and the odd moo or baa as the animals settle down for the night. While at the centre of farm life you will experience a great sense of remoteness and peace at being far away from the world. Our Shepherd's Hut Hideaway arrived at Nash End Farm on 3rd October 2013 having been newly crafted in Worcestershire by Riverside Shepherd's Huts. A fusion of Victorian charm and contemporary luxury, your hut contains everything you need for a relaxing break away: a full size double bed, central heating, hot and cold running water, shower, flushing WC, a fully equipped fitted kitchen ready for you to do some serious cooking, plenty of storage for all of your things, all within the hut. There's no need to venture outside until you're ready to take on the day. Please enquire about bringing children and we are no longer taking bookings with dogs. Please also look at our other lisitings on airbnb. Our Iglu Hut is a beautiful aspen clad space with a Scandinavian feel. It's a very similar space to the Shepherd's Hut and I a confident that you will love it just as much. During the warmer months with also offer camping at Eldersfield Tipis also listed on air bnb.
It's remoteness. Although you feel far away from the world, we are central to the three counties and within a 20/30 minute drive of a range of towns, cities and tourist attractions including, the Malverns, the Cotswolds, Cheltenham and the county towns of Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford.
  • Such a beautiful little hut in the middle of nowhere! Stunning scenery and the perfect escape!

    Ri2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Nash End Farm was the peaceful break we both needed. A cosy and warm shepherd's hut that felt like the perfect place to wait out storm Dennis. Rosalind was super accommodating and even picked us up from Gloucester station which was really great as we don't drive. The farm was lovely and all the animals were super friendly. Rosalind also let us know when the lambs were being fed and invited us to join. Overall a fantastic stay and we would love to see the place in the summer.

    Cat2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! If you’re thinking of staying in the area this is the spot for you! So warm and cosy, perfect size, amazing location, lovely dogs! Rosalind was so helpful and really friendly. Really good value - can’t wait to go back. Digger the dog is a local legend!

    Will2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at this peaceful and picturesque farm. We had a lovely time and are very grateful for such cozy and warm (in every sense) place to come home to in the height of English winter. The dogs welcomed us every time we returned to the farm and even guided us to the hut at various times. The Shepherd’s hut is the perfect size and it’s full working kitchen allowed us cook for ourselves after our daily excursions! Thank you again for the perfect place for a much needed getaway.

    Devangi2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was so lovely to stay for a few days! When we first arrived we struggled to find the house (our inability to read the directions!) but were met by a lovely doggy who help us find the way and was always available for a bit of affection. The hut itself is amazing, beautifully clean and surprisingly more spacious than you’d think. My partner and I especially enjoyed the game of scrabble provided. While there’s not much to do in the immediate area, it’s not far to drive to amenities, we drove into Gloucester to have a bit of an explore. It’s a really great place to stay, thank you so much for having us!

    Elise2020-01-08T00:00:00Z

The front door opens into the conservatory, which leads through to a well laid out ground floor area: Conservatory: This room enjoys lovely views over the garden to Woodchester and beyond, and has two wicker chairs; Living room: From the conservatory, a step leads into the characterful living room, which has an exposed Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, oak beams, and alcove shelving with a selection of local books. There are two two-seater sofas, a small arm chair and a window seat that looks out over the valley. There is also a SMART TV with a DVD player; Reading room: The living room adjoins this pretty room, which has French doors opening out to the garden. There is a small writing bureau, two chairs and a hamper of games; Kitchen/dining room: Steps lead up from the living room to the kitchen, a spacious room with a wooden dining table and seating for six. The well-equipped kitchen has a double electric oven, a six-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a hand blender; Utility room: A convenient space for boots and coats, which contains a washing machine/tumble dryer and a freezer; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. The window seat is perfect for watching the sun set; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Steep spiral stairs, without a handrail, lead up from the first floor landing to: Bedroom 4: Another lovely eaves rooms, with exposed beams and panoramic views over the Woodchester Valley Vineyard and beyond. There is a double bed, fitted wardrobes and a free-standing flatscreen TV. The door to this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs and it is not possible to put a stair gate at the top of the stairs, so this room may not be suitable for young children. The main garden area is at the front of the cottage, enclosed by Cotswold stone walls, and is mostly laid to lawn, with traditionally planted cottage garden borders and a variety of mature shrubs and trees. There is a patio area outside the conservatory, with an outdoor table and seating for six, which provides spectacular views across the valley to Woodchester and benefits from glorious sunsets. A lockable shed is available upon request to store bikes and other outdoor equipment. Steps from the back door lead up to a gravelled parking area, with space for two cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • The cottage was very comfortable and cosy with everything we needed for a lovely weekend break.

    Fiona2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous cottage with lots of character and stunning views. We had a lovely cosy weekend with fires (make sure you pick up enough kindling from the local supermarket) and walks through the woods (wellies necessary!) to the pub, finished off with brunch in the well set up kitchen. Be prepared to climb a very steep hill if your car can’t make it up!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grange Cottage is very comfortable, warm and cosy. It is a classic Cotswolds cottage with great views over the valley opposite. The location, while up a very steep hill, was excellent - - a short walk through the wood to the fantastic Amberley Inn - - and no issue with access with our car. The log burner was a welcome addition on the cold evenings we spent there.

    David2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your fabulous cottage. It was a beautiful warm, cosy and very clean property with views to die for! I cannot thank you enough for sending back our Google Chromecast so quickly after we left it behind in the property, it arrived in the post today. That is what I call a first class service! Funny thing was that we didn’t even need it as Netflix was already provided. I would like to highly recommend Character Cottages for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway.

    Sachin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had everything you could ask for - 4 beautiful bedrooms with lovely clean bed linen and comfortable beds. Fantastic views and a cosy log fire with idyllic walks around the area. It was very quiet and peaceful and just what we needed as four mums trying to get some relaxation time away from hectic lives and young children. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house located on a serene hill. Quaint details were added throughout the house which made the experience all the more wonderful. The place was super clean! The only downside is that it is located on a very steep hill & a bit too narrow & difficult to drive up. It was a very good stay regardless :)

    Maznan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Fantastic views. Cottage up a steep hill. Pleasant walks from the cottage. Low ceilings but that's to be expected when you consider when it was built.

    Mark2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant cottage, all as described! Even though it rained quite literally the ENTIRE stay, we didn’t really notice because the house was so nice and had everything we needed! Thank you!

Sam and Becca are super friendly and even brought around more wood for the log burner. The cottage has everything you’ll need for a weekend away. There’s lots of nice little touches that make this place special. We’d love to visit again!

    Danielle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful little cottage that is perfect for a couple. It is wonderfully decorated and the use of space throughout makes the cottage seem much bigger than it is. The fire was lovely to relax by and we thoroughly enjoyed our time.

  • What a fantastic place! A lovely little bolt-hole set in the hills overlooking fields and stone walls. Wonderfully quiet with a great local pub (5-minute walk). Loved sifting through the records (some amazing random LPs in there!) and great info provided regarding lots of local walks!

    Paul2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little place, ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. Loved the record player and fire!

  • Jen came out to greet us on arrival and asked if there was anything extra we wanted even though there was a keybox to let ourselves in. She has a beautiful holiday home and in this instance the pictures behold the truth! Peaceful, cosy and relaxing. Everything you could want is in this accommodation. It’s clean, everything works and things are set out perfectly. The views and scenery during our local hike were wonderful. Being able to shut out the BIG city and be in a private environment was important for us and Jen’s place made our time away together very special, thank you Jen.

    Vaughn2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay here! Peaceful location with amazing views, so cosy and relaxed - would definitely stay here again

    Tina2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Summerhouse is a stunning place for a calm, relaxing break. We stayed for two nights and felt so at home, and wished we were staying longer. The place was immaculate on arrival and we loved that the guestbook had great advice on things to do/places to eat, and also the board games in the property too. On Jen's advice we went to Cirencester on our first day - really beautiful town - and had a delicious lunch at The Fleece Inn. We also had a great meal at The Lamb Inn nearby to the Summerhouse, and enjoyed a walk at Haresfield Beacon. We loved the stay and would definitely visit again.

  • The summerhouse is truly beautiful. The log burner and the cosy touches make it such a lovely retreat and everything is clean and comfortable. Such a beautiful part of the world with fantastic views from the veranda area. Walkable distance to a local pub. Also supermarkets, more pubs and a little town a short driving distance. Jen was incredibly easy to contact and ask questions and made our stay very welcoming and comfortable.

Great views, walks and cycle rides in nearby AONB fields & woods, the 'Cotswold Way' long distance path, old Randwick village, Stroud town & the River Severn. This newly-built annex is light, warm, has high ceilings, comfortable bed and a very adequate kitchen for self-catering. Good for singles or couples, we could also accommodate a child or dog.
Built-up area below the annex, AONB above, in the form of fields & woods. Be prepared for some slopes & small hills if you walk in these areas. Premier stores half a mile away, Co-op supermarket a mile. Vine Tree pub is near at hand & does decent food.
  • Great spot and perfect little place to stay with great host.

    Ross2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location and lovely annex to stay in. Vernon was very welcoming and showed us a local dog walk when we arrived. Perfect for our springer to stretch his legs after a few hours in the car. The annex is fully equipped with everything we needed for a peaceful few days away.

    Jenny2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place, Vernon was very fast at communicating and very helpful with timings. The house was clean and perfect for a couple with dogs. It is a really scenic place and the snowdrops only the room were a really nice touch.

    Henry2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great value for money, everything you need as a bolt hole. Lovely views. Pub 2 min walk up the road, not far out of Stroud, but roads a windy and can be a bit tight. Only thing to note that there are about 8 steps down to the Annex. I was recovering from an Op, vernon and his wife Betsy kindly helped me with my belongings. Vernon even brought some fresh eggs from their chickens which are just in front of the Annex.

    Amanda2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rapid response to enquiries, warm and helpful welcome. Plenty of advice on local walks/pubs/lots of local guidance. The Annex is a separate independent building with all that you would need for a few days quiet break. There is an excellent pub a few minutes walk away with good food ,beer and welcoming owner.

Besides, the house is luxurious and simple, you can find everything you want. A pity is that I didnt get to try the wine. I will bring family and friends to visit this place again in the summer.

Hope Cottage is cosy, quirky and full of character (lots of exposed stone walls and original beams, plus a woodburner) but with all mod cons. It sits in its own terrace/garden in this pretty South Cotswolds village. There are wonderful views, and it's the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. A true home from home, with privacy and seclusion (no owners on site), a great local pub and walks in all directions
Hope Cottage is a detached property built in 1750s in the rural hillside village of France Lynch in the South Cotswolds. Recently refurbished, it boasts all mod cons with a new kitchen and bathroom, alongside character features like oak beams, exposed stone walls and mullion windows. There is an inglenook fireplace in the sitting room, with a woodburner and logs and kindling provided. It sits in its own private, south-facing garden with wonderful views across the valley, and there is parking for one car. The cottage has one double bedroom with additional accommodation (a single bed) in a mezzanine area, plus a sofa bed (small double) on the landing, which looks out through the most fantastic picture window. The beds are made up with beautiful white cotton bedlinen and towels are provided. There is gas central heating, with a woodburner in the sitting room to keep the place toasty on chilly evenings. France Lynch is a charming village with dry stone walls and narrow winding lanes, and a great pub, the Kings Head, just two minutes walk away at the end of the lane. There are some beautiful walks direct from the door (many ending at or passing by other local pubs in the area). Within a short drive are local attractions such as the Farmers Market at Stroud, the Rococo Gardens at Painswick, Prinknash Abbey, Westonbirt Arboretum, the antique shops of Tetbury and Laurie Lee's picturesque Slad Valley, the inspiration behind 'Cider with Rosie'. Within 45 minutes drive are larger centres of Bristol, Bath and Cheltenham, and the cottage is also conveniently situated for events such as Gatcombe Horse Trials, Badminton, Kemble and Fairford Air Shows and Cheltenham's Races, Literary and Music Festivals.
France Lynch is a charming little village, full of stone cottages and winding lanes, and the pub at the end of the road is just two minutes walk away - in the summer there's a garden to sit out in, and during the winter there is usually a roaring log fire inside. There are some great walks in this area and we've left plenty of information in a booklet in the cottage - some maps of the immediate local area, plus smaller scale ones that include footpaths. We have also left some laminated sheets with specific walks that guests can follow. Stroud is a quirky, fun little town with a great Farmers Market on Saturdays and Cirencester is slightly larger with a bigger range of shops and some nice restaurants and bars. Both are within an easy drive.
  • Hope cottage is just beautiful, loved everything about it, the view from the kitchen table, the huge picture window on the first floor, the little book shelf on the stairs. It's in a lovely village, there are lots of walks from the cottage if you don't want to get back into your car. Sarah was a great host. Thank you for letting us stay in your gorgeous home.

    Cheryl2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Quick response. very clean accommodation, with great views from the window, you can read and relax while looking at miles of countryside. Good local information guide. St Stephen's Studio is in Tivoli, a popular area in the heart of Cheltenham. It is a self contained studio flat in a grade 2 listed building. Just a 10 min walk into the centre and 10 mins from the train station. An ideal base for Cheltenham festivals or the races. The flat is small but very modern and comfortable. We also have a rather unique Bluetooth fireplace which plays music and makes it warm and cosy!
St Stephen's Studio is suitable for 2 guests.
The flat is close to the town centre and also the train station. It is ideal for horse racing but especially convenient for festivals.

  • Cosy studio flat, much warmer than expected and sofa bed surprisingly comfortable. Wendy was quick to reply to my messages and really helpful, would book again

    Vicky2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place is a great option for solo travellers wanting to take refuge in the quieter but more residential part of town. Plenty of fun, food and drinks are available not far from the apartment and the centre of town not much further than that. The flat itself is cosy and has all the amenities you could ever want, with helpful guides and information available to ensure smooth running. The fireplace doubling as a speaker is also a nice touch.

  • This place is such a gem, one of my favourite AirBnBs I’ve ever stayed in! The cottage is so quaint and picturesque, with a lot of character, but is also so comfortable and clean. It’s located in a beautiful little village where you can easily go on many walks in the countryside. Jen was also extremely accommodating and easy to communicate with. Thanks again for having us we would love to come back!

  • This is a fantastic cosy cottage that looks just as good in person as it does in the pictures. The stream outside is picturesque, as is the outside view over the hills. The inside of the cottage is just as good - it was everything that we had wished for in a weekend away by the fire.

Converted from a stable block are two delightful cottages built in traditional honey coloured Cotswold stone, originally a part of an 18th Century Coaching Inn, which was then called The Crown. The stables, were used to accommodate the extra horses required to help pull the coaches up Crickley Hill. The property was bought at the end of the 19th Century by Sir William Thistleton-Dyer who was a director of Kew Gardens. Whether he had renamed it or not we are unsure but at that time it was called “The Ferns” then Crickley Court and the sloping land at the rear of the house was apparently well looked after and contained many rare and unusual plants. The cottages are situated within this beautiful setting, surrounded by the vast gardens which are very picturesque. Each has its own private garden and there is also a separate children’s play area with swings, slide and trampoline. Crickley Court Cottages are situated on the side of Crickley Hill, an area of outstanding natural beauty. We have good links to ALL parts of the Cotswolds via the A417, M5, A46 and A40. We are also very close to Crickley Hill Country Park and also many parts of The Cotswold Way. They are ideally placed to visit the many attractions, villages and towns of the Cotswolds. • Jasmine Cottage was the perfect place for us to escape to from the hussle of life. We went as a group of 4 and spent a mixture of time in the cottage, walking in the local countryside and out in Gloucester. The cottage was perfectly situated for all of these things and a lovely place to return to and relax in the evening. Would definitely recommend!

    Liz2019-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was easy from the booking through to arrival. Martin met us to ensure we were alright - although there was a key safe so he didn’t actually need to - but as we arrived after dark it was nice that he checked all was well. The cottage was lovely and clean and as it said on the tin. We stayed for a meeting so can’t comment on the surroundings or activities but Martin and the cottage were lovely - we would highly recommend- thank you

France Lynch has an excellent village pub and church. Neighbouring villages (6) also have pubs. There is a convenience store, pharmacy, doctors’ surgery, take-aways and a post-office all within one mile.
  • We came just as the Coronavirus closures started so a bit of a strange time but we had an amazing break none-the-less. Neil was very quick to answer our questions prior to our stay and popped over to make sure we had everything we needed. He made us feel very welcome and was flexible with check in and out times as the cottage was empty. The cottage itself is lovely, it smelt amazing when we walked in and (as everyone says) the photo's don't do it justice. We had everything we needed and more - the welcome gift was a lovely gesture and the book of walks was very helpful. We managed to pop to the local pub before it was closed and chatted away to the locals who again were very welcoming. A lovely romantic cottage in beautiful surroundings

We are very excited to bring the Iglu Hut Hideaway to Nash End Farm this winter. This is luxury glamping at it’s best. A cosy hand crafted wooden space for a totally revitalising break. Inside you will be wrapped in feather like slats of aspen which curve, dome like into the recesses. With a comfortable fixed double bed, soft cotton sheets, a shower and flushing toilet and small kitchenette, you have everything you need inside the iglu.
With no need to venture outside if the weather looks unwelcoming you can create the ultimate Hygge experience, cook a delicious meal, light candles, read, relax over a board game, watch your favourite boxset, or best of all, enjoy that longed for evening of conversation. Then wrapped up in oversized scarves and sturdy boots and a nice warm coat head out for a brisk walk through some of the most beautiful countryside England has to offer. Call in at a local pub for a refuel and look forward to returning to your warm cosy Iglu. During the winter we commend maximum 3 guests with the 3rd guest being a child and you would need to bring your own bed and bedding. During the summer you could book as a group of friends or family with some of the guests staying in tents or camper vans/caravans in the large paddock in which the Iglu Hut is situated. With those needing/wanting the most comfortable spot e.g. grandparents/parents staying in the iglu hut.
It's remoteness. Although we are central to the three counties and within a 20/30 minute drive of a range of towns, cities and tourist attractions including, the Malverns, the Cotswolds, Cheltenham and the county towns of Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford.
  • Lovely find and wonderfully peaceful and refreshing. We would love to visit again

  • This iglu hut is the perfect place for a retreat/escape! It’s far enough out into the countryside to have all the benefits but not far from Cheltenham and Gloucester either if you want to visit a city. We had a wonderful cosy weekend and will hopefully be returning soon :)

    Jenny2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet location, amazing views, spotlessly clean, just an ideal little place for the perfect getaway from everyday life!

    Ben2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend staying in the Iglu, my partner and I found it to be a wonderfully peaceful and cosy place for a relaxing weekend. Despite its size, there is more than enough room for 2 people, with all the necessary facilities to cook, rest and appreciate the surrounding area. We hope to be back in the near future!

    Oscar2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a great stay here. Highly recommended if you want a little getaway for the weekend. Had everything we needed and was better then we expected 😊

    Roxana2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, and the hut had everything we needed. Despite the cold outside, the hut was very warm. Great for walks and an escape from the city. Will be coming back!

    Cameron2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time, it was a perfect location and exactly what we were after. Very peaceful, private and relaxing

    Emma2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • The igloo is a beautiful retreat, it is self contained so if you decide you want to just hold up for a few days of peace then you can ( which I did) , but there is enough in the area to keep you interested if you feel up for it, I would recommend this place to anyone.

Lorry Lee is a stylish conversion of an old fashioned 7.5 ton horse box, in the heart of the Cotswolds. Free-standing full sized bath, king size bed, and great views. This is as good as camping in the woods gets, no electricity but hot water, plenty of candles and gas to cook on.
This romantic getaway has all you need for a weekend away or a short break. Less than 2 hours from London and an hour from Bristol. Lorry Lee is in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Just a short walk from Lorry Lee is the top of the Slad Valley, made famous in the book Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and explorable via a network of well maintained and signposted paths and tracks.
  • Such a wonderful location and cool accommodation. Totally recommended if you want to get away from the humdrum and chill out in nature.

    Jennifer2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! A lot more space than expected. Beautiful location with pubs nice walks away and a cool farmers market! Definitely would stay again, great peaceful experience.

  • Really fantastic !! Very much recommend.

  • The horse box is an ideal quiet getaway. Very secluded and peaceful, located in beautiful countryside surrounded by horses and chickens. Perfect for walks and exploring the Cotswolds. The horsebox is thoughtfully decorated. Especially love the bath with views of the countryside. Plenty of amenities for cooking inside and outside. Remember to bring biodegradable toiletries!

    Hayley2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant stay in Sarah’s horsebox. The space was lovely and so unique, and the friendly chickens and dogs made our weekend. It was the perfect spot for exploring the area and we would definitely recommend it.

    Danielle2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Sarah’s place for a few days escape from a busy London life. It was beyond perfect and the surrounding areas are all stunning. I will defintely return in future for another relaxing break!

    Charlotte2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a find! The perfect weekend retreat in a really lovely setting. The place is really comfortable and cosy, with an amazingly comfy bed and lovely big bath. We cooked on the hob, perfect for making a one pot meal and ate overlooking the fields. It's extremely relaxing and the views are lovely. There's a good farm fruit & veg shop nearby as well as a great garage shop that sells essentials, with a good choice of organic things too. There are lots of lovely walks nearby. You need to bring your own fire wood etc. but other than that, all is catered for! Thanks for a lovely, relaxing stay, perfect if you're escaping the city for the weekend!

    Helen2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful fully equip 'cabin' in a converted horse Lorry in the heart of nature in the Cotswolds. We absolutely loved our stay in this romantic setting. The surrounding walks are beautiful and picturesque. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing get away, this place is absolutely perfect. We would highly recommended Sarah's Lorry.

The apartment is decorated and furnished to a high standard and has a contemporary, luxury feel throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and should provide everything you need to make this feel like home. There is a small dishwasher, hob, microwave and a fridge. We provide tea and coffee. The apartment comprises a modern and bright open plan kitchen / lounge area. There is a comfy sofa which turns into a bed which would be suitable to sleep a child. There is a flat screen television connected to freesat. The bathroom has a power shower, toilet, sink and a heated towel rail. We provide fresh towels. The bedroom has a king sized bed and luxury bed linen. The Coach House has a combi boiler that provides instant hot water and heating. Located just outside Tewkesbury on the edge of the Cotswolds, the Coach House is a great place to stay to explore the local area. Visit Eastnor Castle for a family day out, take a long walk on the Malvern hills or enjoy the many festivals in Upton upon Severn and Cheltenham.
The accommodation is in a rural area and the nearest town is Tewkesbury which is a 10 minute drive away. Unfortunately we are not on a bus route so you will need a car. There are lovely walks around the local area.
  • Caroline is the most thoughtful host I’ve come across on Air bnb! The accommodation is lovely and we were greeted with a bottle of Prosecco, milk, granola, Brioche and cookies! With everything going on with COVID-19 it was nice to get away and felt really looked after. We went for a walk along the Malvern bills and it was an amazing trip! I highly recommend.

    Chloe2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place to relax. The space is stylish, spotlessly clean and has everything you could need. Lots of nice extra touches too, thank you for the cookies! The bed was so comfy and the shower was awesome. Perfect stay with a lovely host!

Caroline is attentive, kind, the accommodation it self is spotless, clean, Caroline is so very welcoming, just delightful. The area itself is also delightfully lovely. We shall be back xx

  • Absolutely lovely place to stay. Caroline is a brilliant host. Made us feel extremely welcome and went out of her way for us. Would highly recommend x

    Ellis2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Exactly as described. Caroline is really nice and the accommodation is spotlessly clean with everything you need. Location is about 10 mins by car from the centre of Tewksbury and easy to find. Lovely comfy bed didn’t want to get up. Highly recommended would definitely stay again. Just one thing to add guys if you use an electric razor remember to charge it up or take an adapter with you as there isn’t a shaver point, or at least I couldn’t locate it.

    Steve2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at Caroline’s guest house! Extremely clean, very very comfortable bed and a lovely shower. Very nice touch of some breakfast items and treats too, would definitely recommend :)

    Scarlett2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner stayed for the weekend for valentines, it was absolutely lovely. A modern area with thoughtful touches. And a lovely touch that Caroline got us roses and a bottle of Prosecco. Prefect to cook meals also. Would definitely stay again.

    Amber2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline’s place was absolutely lovely. The place was very clean, stylish and had all the amenities needed. Caroline added a lovely basket with some items (including delicious cookies) which we loved! The bed was a great size! (Perfect for my 6,4 long boyfriend). And the shower was amazing! (Overhead shower, great water pressure and warmed pretty quickly). The location is remote and perfectly quiet and a short drive to all the sights in the area.

  • What a beautiful space, we had such a lovely time walking in the Cotswolds and going to local pubs for lazy lunches and coming back to the log fire in the woods was simply perfection. I couldn’t recommend this place more it’s a perfect hidden gem

    Hannah2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. The amenities are first class and the little extras made the stay even more enjoyable. We will be coming back very soon

    Daz2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed three nights in Auther's Barn for my Birthday weekend. The barn made for a perfect weekend getaway and is simply wonderful. There were homemade flapjacks, wine, bread, milk and much more provided on our arrival. It's perfectly located for walks in the Cotswolds and provides a cozy retreat in front of the log fire in the evenings. We both found the mattress to be very firm, but other than that everything was exactly what we had hoped for and more.

    James2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks very much, exactly what we needed for our mini-moon. I would highly recommend you. A stylish, comfortable and relaxing break. Thanks

    Phillip2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely stay. Small touches included, complimentary milk, bread, wine and flapjacks!!! Very stylish and well presented. Thank you to the hosts for making our stay very special, we will be returning in the future

    Sarah2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful den! Snuggled down an ancient droving path and perfectly placed for Cotswold walks, the barn is stylish, comfy and cute all at once. The flapjacks were gone in 15 minutes but we'll remember it fondly for some time :-)

    Jilly2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place with lovely hosts. We stayed august bank holiday we were blessed with sunny weather and the place is set in lovely countryside. Lovely personal touches from liza and mark, flapjacks, milk and bread, bottle of wine, all of which we forgot to bring. In summary, if you want a cozy place, clean and comfortable with great hosts this is the place to book. Im thinking of booking again and coming back in the winter.
