Thunder Ridge at the Forest Retreat is an adults-only pet-friendly getaway. Children may come only during specific times: Easter Spring Break and during the summer. Staying here you are surrounded by the Homochitto National Forest. Take a picnic to the sand bars of the pristine spring-fed creek. Hike or mountain bike on the remote forest roads. Plenty of porch sitting awaits you, too. Please note that the address listed on Airbnb is not our location. I email you exact directions.
Experience starry nights listening to the owls hooting far off in the woods and peaceful days with no phones and no interruptions. What you'll hear are only the sounds of nature and what you'll see is the movement of light as the day passes into night. When it rains it is lovely to hear the raindrops on the tin roof. When it's cold it's time to build a fire and become relaxed, warmed and mesmerized by the flames. For the warmer seasons we have super cold AC. If you are staying several days the nearest town with restaurants and nightlife is the Mississippi River town of Natchez. It's 50 minutes away by going north on Hwy 33 and taking Liberty Road west into Natchez. Stock up on good food to eat. We have BBQ grills. Usually there's charcoal but it's wise to bring a sack to be sure. One last note: We clean the cabins as soon as guests leave and then check them the morning before anyone arrives. That said, if a beetle walks through an unseen crack and is there when you arrive please remember you are coming to a natural place surrounded by a national forest home to wildlife, such as, deer and birds and possums and raccoons and moths and beetles, as an example. Please don't blast me with a negative comment if you see a bug in your house. The cabins are beautiful and nature surrounds them on every side.
The Forest Retreat has as its neighbor a national forest. Across the creek is a nurse, but her house is far back and in the woods, too. You can't see it and she never walks down to the boundary of the creek. For twenty-four years I've never seen her there. You may hear her donkeys braying in the distance or her dog bark at dusk when it's dinnertime. Otherwise, you'll only hear the birds and the wind in the trees.
  • Great get away and beautiful scenery!

  • You can expect solitude, stillness and a lot of nature.

  • It was super cozy and set up with everything we needed. The location is very peaceful. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed our mornings drinking coffee on the bench overlooking the creek. Thank you, Bess!

  • This is a great spot to relax and recharge in a beautiful, natural setting. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Elizabeth2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • First off, would recommend to others looking for a quiet getaway. My wife and I, along with our two dogs, really enjoyed our stay. We walked through the woods and were able to visit the creek for the dogs to swim. It was pretty cold during our stay (lows in the high 20s and highs in the 50s), but as long as the wood burning stove was running (and Bess provided more than enough wood), it was plenty warm enough. During the summer, I could see some really enjoying the creek and the “beach” area most of their stay. Super quiet and peaceful. If rain is in the forecast and you have a truck and/or 4x4, I’d recommend bringing it. The trail to the cabin can get nasty with the clay you’re driving on and if we had a car, I think we would of had a tough time. Overall experience was great and we hope to visit again.

  • If you want peace and quiet, to refresh your soul or to spend quality time with your significant other, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! We stayed at Thunder Ridge and absolutely loved it. Bess is quick to respond to any questions you may have. We made sure to bring everything we needed so we did not have to leave. Go walk to the creek, bring some chairs or a blanket (we went in February, so we built a small fire and had blankets). The tub on the bottom deck was awesome. Book it now. You will not regret it, you will absolutely love this place!! Thank you Bess for sharing your gem with us.

    Frances2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay here, and so did my pup! She had a blast playing in the nearby creek. The cabin is lovely and well-stocked. The fireplace made it extra warm and cozy, especially during our first cold and rainy night. I especially enjoyed the outdoor bathtub. So peaceful!

  • Another great weekend in a perfect spot. Will be back again soon.

Adirondack style treehouse cabin surrounded by a 99,000-acre national forest. Here guests enjoy hiking and mountain biking on the rugged forest service roads, or to more leisurely wander down to the spring-fed creek and look for fossils. In your cabin, you have a wrap-around porch, super comfy beds, plus a full kitchen and bath. A six-cylinder or eight-cylinder vehicle is required to drive back up hill after unloading at your house.
Solitude and no interruptions combine with mid-story views of the surrounding forest, where owls might land on a limb a few feet away from you sitting on the porch, are what make our place special. We have longtime guests who return here year after year, and have for the last twenty- four years, the Forest Retreat has been welcoming guests to its beauty and solitude. Our pet-friendly cabins in southern Mississippi are just two hours from New Orleans. We are regional favorites for folks from Lafayette, Jackson, Baton Rouge, and down to the bayou. Please read our reviews to confirm that you’ll love your secluded house at the Forest Retreat.
If you want to leave the beauty of the wilds, Natchez is 50 minutes away up Hwy 33 and then west on Liberty Rd. takes you into downtown Natchez with restaurants and nightlife.
  • Great ambience, secluded and nestled great place to allow thoughts to spring forth conversations. Perfect escape. This place is necessary for a fresh start. Beautiful surroundings. Five stars it’s perfect.

  • The Fallen Treehouse is a great place to unwind, disconnect, and just breathe. My fiancé and I enjoyed our time hiking around the area with our dog, playing board games, reading, and staying warm by the fireplace. Bess was very helpful in giving directions on how to operate each amenity the cabin had to offer. We will be back!

    Carolyn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bess's place is absolutely amazing. The decorations are simple and quirky very nature inspired. Speaking of inspiration the views from the bed at night looking up at the stars can't be beat. If you are looking for a nice retreat away from the hustle this is your place to go and reconnect with your significant other, yourself, or just nature. Stop putting it off BOOK IT ALREADY!!! Seriously though we loved it and will definitely be back.

    Heather2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fallen Tree is a wonderful little cabin that has everything you need (as in a place to sleep, cook, bathe, and be submerged in nature) and nothing else. It's a great place to get away from everyday life spend quality time with people you love (or alone if that's what you need!)

The 500 sq ft cabin is located in the beautiful 100,000 acres Homochitto National Forest. It is also on the the southern end of the Caston Creek WMA. Caston Creek has a host of wildlife such as whitetail deer, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, redhead woodpecker and other birds. There are numerous clear sandy creeks winding through the Homochitto Forest. We are located about 2 hours northwest of New Orleans and 2 hours northeast of Baton Rouge. The cabin it's self sits on a shady 2.5 acres of a mixture of pine and hardwood trees.
    Small but spacious and cozy
    Quite and private .
  • This place was exceptional! Sparkling clean and so cozy. It was amazing to get away and slow down! Great to reconnect with each other and enjoy nature. Will be coming back soon!

    Megan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! We had no problem finding the cabin or checking in. Everything was clean and ready, the kitchen was well stocked, and there was a stack of firewood waiting for us. This was a perfect quiet, romantic getaway. The cabin itself is very comfortable, and the surrounding area is gorgeous. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We will likely book again in the future and will recommend to friends.

  • The perfect little hide away. Everything you could need, and a lovely outdoor area. Close to great hiking trails.

  • This was the perfect get-a-way for a few days of hiking, camp fires and relaxing. Morgan gave accurate directions, provided info on things to do and even had some dry firewood for us to use. If you drink alcohol make sure to pack some with you as most places do not sell it around the area. Place was very clean, we will be back, thanks Morgan.

  • If you are looking for a perfect little getaway to escape the stresses of work, or city life, or just feel the need to spend a little time reconnecting with yourself or others or your furry friends ~ I HIGHLY recommend the B & K cabin in Gloster Mississippi. I just spent four days in an almost dreamlike state. Unplugged from the web of social media and phone calls and emails. The property is amazing. A small cabin in the Homochitto national forest that sits on the sandy banks of Brushy Creek. I spent endless hours walking through bubbling brooks, picking through river stones to find Indian arrow heads and jewelry, while my dog splashed carelessly in the shallow waters chasing leaves and sticks and bubbles down stream. We camped on the sandbar night one and cooked steaks. We explored the trails and bridges day two and cooked a feast of Boudin and eggs and fresh bacon from Wayne Jacobs. I saw the Milky Way for the first time in years. As steam rose from the morning waters the next day we followed bear tracks and deer tracks and built another fire next to the softly rolling waters. I wish I could bottle the experience and share it with everyone. This property is perfect for the solo camper, or would be great for a group. The owners have put a lot of thought into making sure you have everything on site for a relaxing experience. I didn’t want to leave, and it was nearly impossible to get my dog out of the water and on the road back to New Orleans. Just two hours north of New Orleans, I’ll definitely be back...

  • Very peaceful stay! Tina was also very helpful and a great host!

    John2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place is amazing! The property is a huge well shaded, but wide open space in the trees, and opens up into a beach upon the river with incredibly soft sand! My kids and dog played on the beach and explored up and down the river all day until they collapsed in their beds each night. If you are looking for a place to unplug and enjoy time outside with your family (and dogs) I highly recommend this cabin to you!

    Billy2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place to stay when you want to get away from life and unplug.

    Jennifer2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in this sweet, little cabin!

    Erin2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What an incredible place to unplug in total privacy! This stay is the PERFECT set up for us! We need the occasional break away to unplug from our business and recharge away from all the electronics & never-ending demands AND our 3 Chow Chow furbabies who love the water need a CLEAN waterhole w/easy access to enjoy all day. We've searched all around in a huge radius, and THIS place is IT! Plenty of space to roam and the creek just perfect for spending a relaxing time just a few steps away. We didn't need our sun umbrellas we brought as they were already provided and the cabin is well stocked as described for whatever you need. Linens are fresh and super comfortable and it's just the perfect space. I'm a pretty good sleeper and I slept hard LOL!...amazing the difference! You feel like you have the whole forest to yourself! Hubby has a new hobby searching for Indian tools and arrowheads...he finally found one! Can't wait to come back and it'll be soon for sure! Very much appreciate having this get-away not too far away!

Along with our regular cleaning of the cabin we will be taking extra measures to ensure it Is sanitized and deep cleaned between our bookings. We do not have wifi in the cabin, but we do have direct tv.Perfect for anyone needing to get away from their city and enjoy a peaceful time away from the stress!
About ten/fifteen minutes from downtown st Francisville!
  • Rosebank Plantation, the cozy cottage and the grounds exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail and Juneanne's welcoming Southern hospitality were greatly appreciated by two road weary travelers. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone wanting to experiencing Louisiana history, culture and Southern cooking.

    Joel2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • From my Parents who spent two nights here: “Rosebank Cabin was so cozy and relaxing during the month of January. The house dog, Nugget, was so hospitable to my standard poodle, Abbie. It was very clean and stocked with muffins, juice, coffee, and wine. The first day, we sat on the porch and listened to the rain, and the next day we had a fire in the fireplace. A perfect place to read or write a book.”

    Benjamin2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

  • Juneann's little cabin is incredibly charming and comfortable. The pictures do not compare. We came for a relaxing weekend away and that is exactly what we got.

    Brianna2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautiful cabin very close to Tunica Falls! We loved all the wonderful touches like the wine and muffins, and the renovated bathroom was a unexpected luxury in an otherwise charming rural escape :D also, we were in love with the farm doggogs and so was our little boy (black Pom named Hendrix).

    Ivana2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a perfect little space for those looking for a quiet get-a-way. The scenery was perfect, the fireplace was extra cozy and the 4 legged friends nearby was an extra special touch for this vet tech. 10/10 would recommend and is definitely planning on returning soon.

This cozy and well-appointed cabin is perfect for bird watchers, writers, or those looking to experience the serenity of the woods. The first floor has a large living/dining area with a queen sized sofa bed, dining table, modern, fully furnished kitchen and full bathroom. The downstairs contains a dreamy bedroom with queen sized bed and full bathroom. The cabin is 8 miles north of downtown St. Francisville and mere minutes from hiking, shopping, area festivals, and dining establishments. Amenities include the provision of all linens and towels, a washer/dryer and internet service. Important to note: There are no TVs at this property.
This sweet little cabin used to be a camp for boys and girls. Hence, the separate downstairs and upstairs spaces. The cabin is perched atop a forest ridge that overlooks magnificent trees of multiple varieties. A wall of windows in the living room brings the outside in and provides beautiful views. Close by, enjoy what we call "the bulkhead," a graveled area where you can enjoy a campfire or grill dinner. Also nearby, there's a grassy field where you can play games or star gaze.
Our cabin is located in a small rural neighborhood. The cabin is on just over 6 acres of land. We think you'll love its natural beauty.
  • This was a perfect weekend getaway. The cabin is super-cozy and has everything one needs. Just sitting by the window gazing out over the forest was fantastic. Our dogs loved exploring the grounds and we took a couple of hikes down to a small creek which was magical. We had magnificent weather but this little house will be a perfect hide-out even on a rainy day. We certainly would come back here! Thank you so much Kathryn.

    Anja2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a very cozy relaxing place to stay. Sitting outside listening to the birds was amazing. If your looking for a place to leave the busy rushed life behind this is it. There is lots of seating outside to just sit and read a book, or just look into the woods and watch the squirrels. The fire pit area was great and everything was provided for us to be able to sit and enjoy a cozy fire. Don’t forget to Bring your ingredients for s’mores. 😋

  • Super adorable cabin that feels like a tree house in the middle of beautiful forest. Wind chimes are marvelous on front porch and windows everywhere bringing in natural light making cabin so wonderful if you want to enjoy nature in tranquil and serene lodgings within a few minutes of historic St. Francisville downtown, national park, and wildlife preserve. Loved this cabin!!!!

  • This is the perfect little middle-of-nowhere escape. It's far enough away from things but also not a bad drive into the cute town of St. Francisville. We went to hike Clark Creek one day which was about 30 minutes away and a beautiful hike. My dog loved the cabin and all the free space to roam around. The cabin was perfect and just what we needed for a weekend getaway. I recommend bringing your own coffee b/c I forgot to pack mine and the nearest coffee shop is 15 minutes away. But the cabin has everything you need otherwise!

    Tara2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful Cabin in the woods. Kathryn was very responsive and even worked with me after I screwed up my booking by accident. Nice hiking behind the Cabin and very cool place. Brought my 9 year old son for his birthday and we had a blast!!

  • Cute cabin with a great view. It’s about a 30 minute drive from Clark Creek and only about 15 minutes from downtown St. Francisville. The kitchen was well equipped as well as the bathroom. We enjoyed the separate fire pit area. Directions to the cabin were easy to follow. We enjoyed our stay very much!

The Cabin is located on a 122 ac tree farm, with fishing ponds, hiking trails and bird watching areas. Mini donkeys, mini horses and goats live on the property, a hobby farm that we enjoy sharing with others. The Cabin, built in 2003, has heart of pine flooring, bedroom, living, kitchen area with private bath and laundry closet. An additional shower is located on the back porch. Porches on two sides overlooking two ponds offer a place to relax and view the beauty. (approx. 10 mi from town)
This property once included the plantation where Lucy Audubon taught plantation children while husband John was completing his famous book "Birds of America."

Robot (the cat) was a great protector and greeter! Oh hosts were very thoughtful. It was a fantastic base to explore the area. We also really enjoyed a night out at the St. Francisville Inn. Wonderful food and cocktails. We had a great getaway!

Cabin is 10 min. from historic downtown St Francisville and has creek access on the property. It's centrally located within easy access to plantation homes, Port Hudson battle trails, Tunica Falls & Audubon Pilgrimage July Songbird Music School. Dogs allowed with added $10 cleaning fee (for shedding) and preaproval. Now have a very unique, cozy 2nd rental: Airstream Avalon.
Antique cypress shotgun home and over 100+ years old. It has been carefully renovated with tears of love & craftsmanship by the artist/owner. Interior decor features original artwork by the owner. Great back porch view with swing to relax and enjoy the solitude of the outdoors. A wood stove accents the main living area and is fully functional (wood provided by owner).
I recommend the Birdman Coffeehouse for breakfast and occasional music nights. Magnolia Cafe, Also The quaint St Francisville Inn has a generous breakfast buffet (open 7days a wk). The Magnolia, the Frances, and the Lebanese cafe are all great for local lunch and dinner. Also there are some nice places in New Roads to eat across the new bridge.
  • Nancy's place - both the interior and the garden - is beautiful. We will happily stay there again. She was helpful through the process.

  • Nancy's place was absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. If you are looking for a rental where you can escape from the real world, unplug, and really soak up the beautiful nature/scenery, this is the place! Our pup, Lady, really enjoyed exploring in the woods and creek area. The personal and artistic touches to the cabin are beautiful as well! One of the most unique and tranquil places I have ever stayed!

  • Want Peace and Quiet? How about relaxing in a wooded setting, sitting in front of a fire, a soft comfy bed and birdsong in the morning? This adorable little cabin was just what we needed amidst our hectic Louisiana vacation. Nancy was wonderful, and extremely accommodating. We miss the cabin already. Highly recommend.

  • Nice space in a small town. It was perfect for what my boyfriend and i needed while we were visiting.

  • I visited Woodville to attend my family reunion and was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled across this listing. Booking the space was easy and instructions for check-in was thorough. Peggy arranged to meet me and gave me the grand tour. The space was amazing and offered the comfort that I was seeking during my stay. The finishes were modern and the space was so clean. During our stay, we ate at Uncle Bucks mobile kitchen and the hot wings and seasoned fries were delicious. However, it took a long time for them to prepare the order, so make sure you order ahead of time. We at breakfast at Orchard Cafe and the food was pretty good. This will definitely be my go to spot each year that I visit my family in woodville.

    Pachen2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • I had high expectations for this space after seeing the pictures. It was all that I expected it to be and more! Being from Woodville, these Lofts will definitely encourage me to visit more often, and will certainly be staying here every visit. This town needed something like this. Peggy was awesome and so very accommodating. The check in/out process was super simple. It’s a “must stay” if you’re ever visiting my hometown of Woodville, MS.

    Billie2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • James was easy to communicate with and extremely detailed about any questions. His property is the southern gem 💎 of Mississippi. My family and I was blown away with the apartment all updated appliances and very spacious. Ms. Hendry the property manager guest service was a 10 🌟. Any questions that I had she was always available. I promise you will not go wrong staying at the Woodville lofts and apartments. “AMAZING”!!!!!!!!!!!

    Alfonso2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • James and his wife truly have a spectacular building. It’s nestled in the heart of a beautiful small town and has a wonderfully relaxing pace. The apartments cleanliness was spotless and working with the sweetest woman Peggy to get checked in was a dream. James was very quick to respond to my every need; my stay was originally for 10 days but my work kept me in the area for an extra month and a half. James let me keep extending my stay for the extra weeks I needed which made my stay incredibly easy. Did I mention I worked an hour away everyday and could have moved closer to where I was working but the space and area was so nice and relaxing that it was worth the extra driving. Thank you so much again James.

    Wade2018-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • James's apartment was absolutely outstanding, far better then a luxury hotel room! His co host Peggy was very welcoming and happy to help for whatever I need it! Strongly recommended for a very peaceful get away

    Vince2017-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed staying here. I came to the area for work and it was just what I needed. James was very easy to communicate and work with. There are long term tenants in the other loft units, and had no issues with them. Old school looking and small town. There are a couple restaurants right down the sidewalk from the streetside entrance. The next time I come to the area I will return.

    Andrew2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was clean and in order as expected. Building has lots of old world charm. Convenient location and friendly folks in Woodville. I highly recommend to anyone in the area and will visit again.

  • Great and unique place! We had our two kids with us, who shared the futon. We put the kids to bed and had drinks on the porch. St. Francisville was not our favorite, but Nancy’s place was a great stop on the way to Clark Creek State Park from New Orleans!

  • My wife and I stayed at the Music Hall tiny home, and we were so pleased with it. It was perfect for a couple like us to use as a home base while we explored the area. We had a surprisingly good time just grabbing a couple of the instruments laying around the place for some quick fun. The drum lamp with the adjustable lighting was a nice touch too. Everything was in tip-top shape, and the place was super clean. We stocked up for a couple meals, ate at a couple of local spots, hiked nearby Clark Creek, and even drove into Baton Rouge for an afternoon to eat and shop. It was a very pleasant and fun couple of days, and the Music Hall was a great place to come back to and hang out in the evening. If we come back to the area, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

    Robert2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Music Hall was the perfect getaway for us looking for a nice, quiet and relaxing evening. • This was a perfect three day weekend getaway for my wife and I. Although it’s called a tiny home, it’s actually pretty spacious with the layout the way it is. The space was new and extremely clean with a full kitchen. The location was also convenient just a few miles north of downtown St. Francisville. The hosts, Patrick and Colleen, were very kind and hospitable. They even invited us onto the front porch of the main house for a Saturday night LSU football gathering. I highly recommend this place. We plan to come back.

  • My husband and I were travelling with my dad and my 13 and 11 year old kids. All of us loved the place and wish we could have stayed longer. My kids had so much fun playing with the kids who live there that they asked us to wake them up early the following day to make sure they had time to play in the morning. The space itself was larger than I expected. The three bedrooms were a nice size and we all slept great. Things to note if you are staying longer that a couple of nights is that there is no dishwasher so you will be handwashing dishes, and the only tv is in one of the bedrooms so you can't really all sit down to watch tv or a movie together. Overall, the place is fantastic, and the stay there felt like more of a vacation than the actual vacation did! We will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

    Kelly2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a short stay of one night. The space is very modern and nice. Though we did not use it the pool looked very inviting. Will stay there again if we come back to the area.

Peaceful with lots of room to roam and places to sit and relax outside. Pool is spectacular as well. Planning on coming back for sure!

  • Our family was looking for a getaway to just relax and have some together time. This property was perfect. The pool was incredible and we spent most of our time in it. The hot tub was also a nice end to our evening. We were even able to grill in the evening next to the pool. It was very peaceful and my husband also enjoyed spending a little time fishing at the pond. Very enjoyable trip.

  • Mikes guest house was a perfect place to stay for my work trip. Quiet and peaceful in my off time. I recommend it to anyone needing a quiet retreat.

    Mark2019-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very relaxing rural setting. Because of this, it can be challenging for a working business trip as there is zero cellular service and the internet speeds are not sufficient for WiFi calling. I was, however, allowed to use the owner's land line for nationwide calling. The apartment is immaculate with a well furnished kitchen. There is even a backup generator that automatically kicks in during a power failure. The entertainment system has a DVR which is very nice. I usually miss the ability to pause and rewind programs when I'm in hotels. Mike and Dena are very hospitable and I enjoyed shooting a couple of games of pool with Mike in the downstairs common game room.

The Little Red Barn at Chisum Farm is located on a 122 ac hobby farm with fishing ponds, hiking and bird watching areas approx. 10 mi. from town. Mini horses, mini donkeys, 3 goats and longhorn cattle reside on the property, a place we enjoy sharing with others. The LRB, built in 2001 has never been used as a barn and has a large bedroom, bath with shower and living room with a small kitchen area. A large front porch offers a place to relax and take in the views!
The kitchen area has an antique drainer sink, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and table and chairs, no oven or range. An outside grill is available for use and an induction hot plate inside. There is a twin bed in the living room used as a reading nook. The large bedroom features a king bed.
The neighborhood is a beautiful rural area. A store is located about 3-5 minutes away on Hwy 61 with almost anything you may have forgotten! The property was once included in the plantation where Lucy Audubon taught plantation children while husband, John was completing his famous book "Birds of America".
  • We loved Gail and Fran’s place. The Little Red Barn was adorable and we had the best time walking around the property. We had a fire in the pit and enjoyed drinking coffee on the porch every morning. It is very close to town and just a short drive from the Tunica Falls Hiking Trails! The king-sized bed was so comfortable! We will definitely be back!

  • The host were most gracious! We loved the seclusion of the property. The animals were an added perk! We loved grilling , sitting around the fire pit, rocking on the front porch and dancing under the stars ! It was a great escape for us and I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to enjoy the simplicity of country living.

    Carol2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! From the very first minute on the property we were just blown away by how perfect everything was. We were offered the cabin to make things easier for our 18mo daughter, which was so kind. The cabin felt like a cooler version of my grandmas house! My daughter had a blast playing outside and interacting with the many animals, especially the cat, who joined her for every nap and meal she had on the porch. It’s a truly rural setting with lots of natural wildlife. The books, as others have noted, were really interesting picks and the bathroom was very clean. My family will be spending a few days here again whenever we make the trip from the east coast to Texas!

    Mia Alejandra2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cabin, not the barn. Fran and Gail made us feel completely at home. We enjoyed walking the property and interacting with the various animals. This place is well worth the visit and we plan to stay here again the next time we visit.

    Philip2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at the cabin and it was as fantastic as the first time. The leaves were beautiful and the fire was perfect for s’mores! Never disappoints. It is the perfect getaway to relax and enjoy the beautiful property. Gail and Fran are such generous hosts. Can’t wait til our next trip!

    Shelley2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place to use as a hub to spend a few days touring all of the plantations and sights of Saint Francisville. It's close enough to them but yet totally private and peaceful without the feel of the commercial hotels and such. It's small but practical and really more roomy than any hotel room at a fraction of the cost. It has the charm of a country cottage in the middle of a huge family farm, although I don't think you'll be disturbed by tractors and harvesting. There's a huge front porch with plenty of seating to sit back and have a perfect view of the beautiful sunsets and peaceful evenings. If you are traveling with kids there are acres for them to run around and tire themselves out so mom and dad can have a restful sleep. I'm sure I'll be back again as I pass through.

    James2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Gail, Fran, and their family were very friendly and accommodating upon our arrival. The LRB was sparkling clean and full of small touches to make you feel at home. Our little girl adored greeting the animals each morning. Thank you again for the hospitality! We hope to visit again.

    Rachel2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a lovely setting, and the donkeys, pigs, and mini-horses were such a nice addition. One note: though a "kitchen" is listed, it consists of just a hot plate, and a few utensils. So if you'd like to cook, pack and plan accordingly.

  • What a great gem! You wont be disappointed.

    Danny2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our contact was Patty, who was friendly, welcoming and courteous. The loft is an adorable space with ample natural light and the upstairs is a small but charming art gallery. Located in the heart of town and close to the Vintage Cafe where we ate lunch one day. The Wi-Fi didn't perform as we had hoped, and did wish it was more centrally located as we didn't have great cellular connection in the area and were hoping to use it to download things to use when no connection was available near town as we explored nearby areas. Overall it was a nice, comfortable stay!
