“A great day activity; drive in to the country behind Gisborne. About 30 minute drive. Amazing arboretum with wonderful walks, huge trees, ponds, gardens, gift shop and interactive education center for kids. An elegant cafe in the old homestead! Can sit in the beautiful dining room for excellent tea/coffee served by wonderfully friendly staff.”

Bar
“One of Gisborne's iconic spots to have an evening beer or wine. Sometimes hosts food events and great music acts. Decor is old machinery, planes, bikes, heavy metal stuff! Took some guests who arrived from Aussie on a motorbike, as it looked like their kind of place, and they thought they'd arrived in biker's heaven!”

“With 660m long this is the longest wharf in the Southern Hemisphere. Locals love the wharf because it's part of Eastland history, and because it's a most excellent place to catch a fish. In recent years the wharf has undergone extensive restoration work, which will help to ensure that locals and travellers can dangle a line for many years to come.”
