  • Hollyhock House is a beautiful country retreat. It is easy to find and Heidi was able to show us around the house at check in. Each bedroom has towels and lovely touches such a shower gel/hot chocolate and biscuits. Charlbury Station is only about 10mins away and is direct to London. The bus also runs near to the house. The artic cabin is a lovely space to relax and toast marshmallows and the house is very well equipped. The only downside is there that are only two showers but it was manageable. Thanks for a great weekend - would recommend!

  • Simply a stunning place to stay, perfect for 16 people. Close to Blenheim Palace for walks and exploring Woodstock. Thoroughly recommend popping into Charlbury for Sunday lunch at the Bull Inn too. The pixie hut is exceptional and was a phenomenal surprise birthday bbq dinner for my guests. Truly couldn’t have been a more special weekend. Heidi is also a delight and couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating. Thank you for everything!

  • Such a brilliant Airbnb! The house was beautiful, very stylish and had everything we needed. There was plenty of room for everyone to stay and lots of bedding. The location was great, right on the Oxfordshire Way for walking and the village was very picturesque. Heidi was really helpful, offered flexible check in and out and gave us lots of tips for enjoying the house and the area. Would highly recommend!

  • From start to finish Heidi was a pleasure to deal with, and the house is just incredible - we knew it would be nice but the photos don't really do it justice, it's an exquisite place. A wonderful, fun-filled weekend was had and we'd recommend the place to anyone.

  • A fantastic barn conversion which was very clean, homely, well decorated and a great size to move around for a party of 4. It had an ideal location to get around and visit the surrounding villages. Our host Salee was very accommodating when we had car trouble and allowed us to extend our stay until it got towed. Thanks very much!

  • Lovely house, with great facilities and a perfect location to explore the surrounding area.

    Emma2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay in January at Salee’s house. We were travelling with a toddler so have having plenty of toys and gear for a toddler at the house really helped. We also loved the local pub, The Chequers, which was only a few minuets walk away. Salee’s place was also clean and good value for money. Highly recommend!

  • Wonderful relaxing space about 15 minutes outside of Kingham. We had grand plans around the Cotswolds but the space was so cosy and inviting we loved being inside with the Fire! For winging and dining The Wild Rabbit and Kingham Plough are a must as well as The Chequers in Churchill. We enjoyed buying all our food for the weekend from Daylesford which is gorgeous and the kitchen in the apartment has everything you would need. Further afield Burford Garden centre is a must as well as the lovely villages of Broadway, The Slaughters, Bibury and Stanton.

Aptly named, the Mousehole is a unique miniature barn; the perfect place to unwind. Situated in an 'Area of Outstanding Beauty' in the heart of the Cotswolds this renovated cottage has retained an abundance of character. A 3-minute walk to the popular Chequers Inn, and Daylesford, Soho Farmhouse and Blenheim Palace nearby. With endless walks on your doorstop, it is an ideal romantic hideaway if you are looking to get away from it all. We look forward to welcoming you!
The Mousehole has been completely renovated to a high standard. The cosy double bed on the mezzanine floor makes the space ideal for a couple. Due to height restrictions, there is no bed base, but a good quality mattress. I am mentioning this as most people love the quirkiness of the cottage, as seen in guest's reviews, however I have had one complaint about this (since opening in July 2017!) so just want you to be aware! The cottage is open plan with the exception of the shower room which has a loo, shower and basin. Although we have done everything we can to adhere to health and safety requirements, PLEASE NOTE this is a very old building and the stairs to the mezzanine floor are quite narrow and steep so not suitable for toddlers/young children/elderly, and the loo is on the ground floor. We pride ourselves with attention to detail and want to make your stay perfect, hence this detailed and honest description! The 3 double bedroom house opposite the Mousehole, (No.1 The Square), is also available to rent and depending on availability, both properties can be booked together. This has proven popular for families with weddings nearby.
We think the Mousehole would have been built in the late 1690's, when the village was rebuilt after a fire. Churchill is a very friendly and popular village with a Heritage Centre, William Morris Memorial, All Saints Church, cricket pitch, fountain and village green. As well as the much loved Chequers Inn! You will be ideally placed for touring the Cotswolds and visiting the wealth of visitor attractions and leisure activities in the area. Please see our 'Manual' for a few ideas to get you started.
  • The Mousehouse is ideal for a short break/long weekend. Walking distance to a great pub and lovely walks to Chipping Norton and Daylesford. Very clean and check in/out was very simple. We had a great time thank you!

    Tobias2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mouse House is tucked away in the cutest English Language. It is a super cute little studio. Katherine is always in contact. I do wish there was somewhere to hang clothes up as there is no wardrobe...however it was so lovely and we loved staying there. Thank you Katherine xx

  • Great place to stay

    Jackie2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great two night stay, the barn has everything you need for a nice break away, we managed to cook a full roast and meal on both nights using the all in one microwave/convection oven - great space saving idea! Under floor heating was a dream and the barn was toasty out whole stay. Mezzanine floor is lovely, like a big kids den. Definitely recommend a stay here as it’s in a great location to explore the rest of the cotswolds and oxford.

    Lauren2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Mousehole is easily in my top three Airbnbs ever- my stay there was perfect. Between a perfectly scaled space for maximum coziness, a stunningly beautiful setting, an amazingly convenient location for long country rambles in any direction and bountiful birds and wildlife, the five nights I spent there were magnificent. Katharine was the most gracious and helpful host. Thankful to her for the thought and care she put into the place. Wholeheartedly recommended.

  • We had a lovely stay at Claire’s place. It’s in a very quaint Cotswolds town, with plenty of walks nearby, and lots of local towns. A perfect escape from the city. The place was clean and had everything we needed, and Claire and her husband were incredibly attentive and on hand for any questions. Would absolutely recommend.

    Joe2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Claire's cute and cosy cottage. Was in a beautiful rural location with a cute shop close by. I only wish could have stayed for longer - would totally recommend a stay here.

    Jody2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning little cottage with plenty of room for parking. The cottage was well equipped I loved the finer details i.e fresh flowers in every room. The breakfast bundle was great, lots of selection and not to mention it was spotlessly clean inside. The butchers and shop down the road are fantastic, we had takeaway fish and chips from The Tite Inn on Friday evening upon arrival and that was delicious. If you’re looking for something to do I highly recommend visiting Heythrop Zoological Gardens - we fed the tigers a must do although you do have to book in advance. Will definitely stay at Claire’s place again if in the area.

Bedroom 6 A den-lover’s dream, Bedroom 6 is perfect for younger guests or adults who don’t mind a bit of a squeeze. Able to accommodate up to two guests on two mattress-beds (one single, one small double), one is hidden in the rafters up a small wooden ladder; perfect for mini-explorers in search of a hideaway. Located just off the entrance hall, the Rudyard Kipling-esque wallpaper will speak to book-lovers of all ages and it’s perfect to use as a study for those who need a little peace and quiet. Studio Bedroom Another great room for intrepid explorers, this small annex room, sleeping one on a single mattress-bed, is hidden away up a flight of steep wooden stairs in the studio; great for teens and agile adults, not so great for those less mobile. The studio also homes a sofa bed which can accommodate two if needed. Be warned, the sky lights have no blinds on them, so it’s best for early-risers! What’s Outside Brock Cottage offers blissful seclusion by the bucketful thanks to its rural location and sweeping one-acre garden, surrounding the property like a pretty, green cocoon. Mostly lawned (great for kids wanting to stretch their legs), mature trees and shrubbery reward the garden with complete privacy, with a trampoline and swing to keep little ones happy for hours. The cottage’s rear garden, accessed through the kitchen/diner’s sliding doors, also benefits from a large paved dining area complete with outdoor dining table and charcoal BBQ; sheltered from the elements by a wisteria-strewn pergola.
Eating Brock Cottage is located just a short 5-minute drive from the village of Kingham, renowned as the Cotswolds’ newest foodie hotspot thanks to its two excellent, award-winning restaurants - The Kingham Plough and The Wild Rabbit Inn – both well worth a visit. The King’s Head in Bledington offers tasty, seasonal food in a picture-perfect setting just a 2-minute car journey (or slightly longer walk) from Brock Cottage, whilst high-end hangout and favourite of the jet-set, Daylesford Farmshop and Café, is also just an 8-minute car journey, with a delicious all-day dining menu. For those wanting to venture slightly further afield, we’d highly recommend a visit to Stow-on-the-Wold, a pretty market town just 5 miles down the road that packs a punch when it comes to culinary credentials. Check out The Porch House, a 10th century inn in the heart of the town with good beer and a great lunch menu, before heading to The Old Butchers for dinner; a Michelin Guide must-visit where pre-booking is definitely recommended. Walking Somewhat of a walker’s paradise, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to exploring the Cotswolds on foot from Brock Cottage. The cottage itself sits within Foxholes Nature Reserve, awarding stunning woodland walks right from the doorstep, bursting to life with carpets of bluebells in the Spring. The Oxfordshire Way- winding all the way from Bourton-on-the-Water to the banks of the River Thames in Henley- also passes directly through Foscot; a great option for those keen to join the trail. We’d recommend the 6-mile round-trip from Foscot to Churchill, passing through streams and meadows with a handy stop-off at The Chequers pub for delicious sustenance half-way round. Must-Sees The Cotswolds is jam-packed full of attractions to keep visitors of all ages entertained. For younger guests, a visit to Cotswold Farm Park (20-minute drive) and Cotswold Wildlife Park (20-minute drive) are a must, with the Cotswold Water Park (40-minute drive) the perfect place to head on hot-weather days. For older generations, Chastleton House National Trust property is just 15 minutes away, and we’d recommend that no visit to this area be without a day exploring the pretty surrounding market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water; both renowned for their quaint independent stores, cutesy-cafés and quintessentially-Cotswolds good looks. Daylesford Farmshop and Café is also a must-visit - a beautiful destination store in its own right - crammed to the brim with high-end, artisan produce, delicious deli treats and an impressive restaurant. Just be sure to allow a few hours there; we don’t know anyone who hasn’t been mesmerised by this country-chic hangout.

  • The cottage is amazing! It is clean, tidy and spacious with plenty of beautifully decorated bedrooms and living rooms. My family enjoyed the stay very much. It is perfect for a big family or a group of friends! It is a bit difficult to find the place (it is like a teasure hunt for us!) but once you find the way it is pretty easy to navigate in that area.

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay in this beautiful space. I hosted my three day yoga retreat here and it was perfect. The kitchen was very well stocked, the items around the home were beautiful and so stylish! The big Windows overlooking the trees in the garden were a perfect meditation and yoga view! We had a problem with the heating one night but Adam was super quick to resolve this, communication was great. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone especially families as the kids facilities were great. An added bonus was the punching bag and equipment which meant I could do an exercise class there also! Was a lot of fun and the area is beautiful. I will definitely be using this space again for future retreats and events.

  • All your home comforts, set in a very chic barn conversion, makes for a delightful countryside getaway. Tom (the owner who lives in the main house across the way) was very welcoming, and very knowledgable about the local area. The downstairs is a particularly lovely space, with a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and a very comfortable living room with doors that open onto a great outdoor patio and garden. If we had had a little more sun across the weekend we definitely would have given the BBQ a go! The large bedrooms are complimented by en suite bathrooms, both of which have been done to a very high standard. We will definitely be back!

My place is convenient for Wilderness, Blenheim, Cornbury events. It is close to Blenheim Palace, Woodstock (4 miles); Witney (4 miles); Burford (5 miles); Chipping Norton (6 miles); Oxford (12 miles) and Stratford (30 miles). Charlbury railway station is just 2 miles away, where there is a regular service to London (Paddington) which takes just over an hour. Room has double bed, tv and books. Suitable for solo adventurers, cyclists and business travellers. A second room is also available.
The base price (week days) is £35 per room, with a £15 surcharge if the room is to be shared. The room is a single aspect room which looks out onto the village lane and countryside beyond at the front. It has a new, comfortable double bed and clean sheets and bedding (though not ironed, time is too short!). There's a flat screen tv with freeview, well stocked bookshelves, 1 of my son-in-law's original paintings on the wall (his work having been accepted at the R.A. summer exhibition) and antique mirrors and rug. A small kettle is also provided.
Finstock is a pretty but unpretentious village set round a hill in the Cotswolds. My house is a 1920s semi which is five minutes' walk from the local pub, the Plough, which is friendly and which serves good food. The Village Shop is also about 5 minutes away in the opposite direction. There are plenty of interesting and pretty walks nearby.
  • Ginnie's place was perfect for my stay in Oxfordshire - location is great in a quiet village and the room and sole use of bathroom on my stay was ideal and everything very clean. Lovely breakfast the next morning - thanks Ginnie.

The garden is accessed via the back door which opens onto a patio area with smart Rattan armchairs and a matching glass-topped table. A charcoal barbecue is available in the summer months as well. This attractive outdoor space is fully enclosed, however, young children and dogs should be supervised at all times. The cottage has parking space for two cars in the carport and further on-street parking is available in the village.
Voted "England's Favourite Village" in 2004 by Country Life magazine, Kingham is a beautiful, unspoilt Cotswold village, with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages, mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is situated in the Evenlode valley, a short drive from the well known Cotswold market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton. There has been a church on the site of St. Andrew's Church for at least 900 years, although the present building is a mixture of ages. The font is 13th century, the Perpendicular Gothic tower 15th century, the nave roof is dated 1774 and the rest of the church was remodelled in 1851-3. The church also has a fine old rectory, built in the 17th century. Kingham has two highly regarded pubs, a village shop and is just a mile away from Daylesford Organic, which is well known for its organic food, cookery school and spa. Kingham is also the only village in the Cotswolds that is served by a main line railway station, which provides regular services to London Paddington station. Food & Drink Kingham is fortunate to be blessed with two of the best village pubs in the whole of the Cotswolds, as well as a welcoming hotel, and is just a mile away from the well known Daylesford Organic Farm: The Wild Rabbit (www.thewildrabbit.co.uk): Owned by Lord and Lady Bamford, and described as "the poshest pub in Britain", the Wild Rabbit has been totally refurbished and boasts a total of three real fires in its dining room and separate bar. The menu reflects the seasons and celebrates everything that is great about local produce. All ingredients are carefully selected for their quality and are organic, where possible; The Kingham Plough (www.thekinghamplough.co.uk): The Kingham Plough has established a well deserved reputation as an outstanding dining pub and has deservedly been recognised by numerous awards bestowed by various different bodies. The modern British food is inspirational, not your ordinary Gastro-Pub menu, where everything is prepared from scratch by a team of skilled chefs. Headed by chef-owner Emily Watkins and head chef Ben Dulley, the menu offers an exciting take on English classics. The kitchen is dedicated to making the most of the carefully sourced local ingredients and everything from the charcuterie to the baked beans in the award winning breakfast is proudly made by hand. Kingham also has a village store, selling a wide range of everyday products, including fresh items, beers, wines and spirits, groceries and confectionery. There are regular farmers' markets held in the village, throughout the year.
  • A relaxing setting in a beautful part of the Cotswolds. The living space is comfortable and makes relaxing very easy, the beds are also very comfortable and the propery is very clean. Two pubs within walking distance, we visited both and had great food in both.

    Vivienne2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very centrally located in Kingham and very charming. The house is small and the ceilings in the bedrooms are quite low, but overall it was everything we needed. Nice heated floors in the bathroom.

  • Really lovely little cottage, ideal for 2 people! the location is amazing being just a stones throw away from some great pubs, and Daylesford Farm. • Cute little cottage! Overall very clean throughout. The bath is a good size, and a lovely place to unwind after an afternoon walking. The heating works well, and the area is very quiet. The fire is wonderful, although you'll need kindling, which you can get at the local petrol station. The host doesn't provide any.

Welcome to Causeway Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Causeway Cottage is a delightful Grade II listed property which sleeps six guests, in three well presented bedrooms, with two bathrooms. Dating back to the mid-17th century, the property has an abundance of character features including exposed wooden beams, a stone mullion window, terracotta tiling in the kitchen and two inglenook fireplaces, one of which has a wood burning stove. To complement these traditional features, the property has been finished in a contemporary style with the addition of modern facilities such as wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. Built from original Cotswold stone, Causeway Cottage has a beautiful exterior to match its interior, with a wonderful wisteria trailing across the porch and living room windows, and dormer windows on the first floor which offer lovely views across the garden. The enchanting garden is an excellent spot to socialise with friends and family in the warmer months and there is off-street parking for up to three cars on the gravel driveway. Causeway Cottage is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Old Minster Lovell, an unspoilt village with a mixture of attractive thatched and Cotswold stone cottages. The village benefits from a well-regarded pub, the Old Swan, which prides itself on its use of local ingredients, and the 12th century parish church of St Kenelm is just a short walk away from the cottage. Alongside the church lie the extensive ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a former 15th century manor house which is now a Grade 1 listed building maintained by English Heritage. Old Minster Lovell is also home to Minster Mill, a luxury hotel with a spa and restaurant which members of the public can utilise by appointment only. The larger residential settlement of New Minster is just a ten minute walk away, with another popular pub and a local shop. Located within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many local walks and cycle trails to explore, including those along the River Windrush which flows through the village itself. Old Minster Lovell is well placed for visiting many of the charming towns and villages of the Cotswolds including the medieval market town of Burford with its wide range of eateries, and the scenic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds” due to the many arching bridges which cross over the River Windrush. The popular tourist destinations of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, Cirencester and Oxford are within easy reach for day trips. • Our stay at this apartment was fantastic! The space itself is huge and has everything you need. Robin and his wife also left some very lovely and thoughtful basics and treats for us upon arrival. The location is superb and Robin was a very helpful and communicative host. This is a really good value Airbnb!

  • A charming annex to a home in the picturesque town of Charlbury. The accommodation was perfect, much bigger than we expected, and the hosts were friendly, hospitable and extremely thoughtful (provided us with the basic necessities- tea, milk, biscuits, and more- wine! upon arrival.). They were always on hand to assist with anything and regularly inquired as to our needs. A really great central location close to shops, transportation and pubs! We will miss you, Robin &Linda!

  • We had an amazing long weekend at Witt's End. I would highly recommend to anyone wishing for a quiet and peaceful stay in the Cotswolds. We did a lot of driving in the day to visit neighbouring villages but spent evenings and early mornings at the cottage and in Finstock which is a lovely little town. The cottage itself very comfortably fit 4 of us - had everything we could need including washing machine, dishwasher, lots of boardgames, even a little summer house out the back! Hope to return one day.

Comfortable double bedroom in a cosy house near to the meadows and river. It's just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Witney - a great location for exploring the Cotswolds. Close to the centre of Witney, but also a stone's throw from some walks across the meadows and along the River Windrush. The neighbourhood itself is a quiet residential area.

Situated in a quiet location in the village of Stonesfield, Little Chestnut Cottage is a great base from which to visit Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxford and explore the Cotswolds. Stratford is less than an hour away if you want to go a little further afield. The village is just over an hour away from London yet surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are plenty of walks straight from the door across the picturesque Evenlode valley.
Little Chestnut Cottage is completely self-contained and is just across the driveway from our own cottage. It dates back to the early nineteenth century and was built as an outbuilding for animals and grain but has now been converted to provide a lovely place to stay for visitors to this area. Downstairs is a comfortable bedroom, spacious bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs is an open plan sitting and dining area with the original wide floorboards and oak beams.
Stonesfield is located in beautiful west Oxfordshire on the edge of the Cotswolds. The village is completely surrounded by countryside and is very close to Blenheim Palace (3 miles). It has a good pub The White Horse which is open Wednesday to Sunday (www.whitehorsestonesfield.com) and a convenience store with a post office. The market towns of Woodstock, Witney and Chipping Norton are all less than 20 minutes drive away. Little Chestnut Cottage is in the oldest part of the village and a short walk to the river Evenlode. There are lovely walks in the local woods and North Leigh roman villa is about 20 minutes walk away. The Oxfordshire Way runs through the village and longer walks into the grounds of Blenheim Palace are straight forward by following this footpath.
  • We had a good 1 night stay at Theresa’s. Good location for walks (we did stonesfield - Combe - Blenheim Palace). Comfortable, clean. Would recommend!

    Sophie2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay in Theresa’s cottage. It is so homely and warm whilst also having modern amenities. It benefits from a great shower, excellent heating, dishwasher, big TV, comfy bed but also has the wooden beams and traditional features throughout. Great location for visiting oxford, Blenheim and surrounding villages. We had a great meal one evening in Woodstock which is very close by. We stayed for 2 nights but could happily have stayed for more. Theresa was a great host, very friendly and had left eggs, bread, milk, freshly squeezed orange juice and even some fruit for us which was a lovely touch. We highly recommend and will definitely look to stay again on our next visit.

    Brad2020-03-12T00:00:00Z

A stunning room with a curved wall, in a Cotswold cottage in the heart of gorgeous Charlbury. The room has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom and has space for a mattress or cot. Great walking and cycling, good pubs both for beer and food, near Oxford & Blenheim Palace, Woodstock. Visitors welcome to use the kitchen and living room, shared with the family. We have a dog and run a sourdough bakery, where the bread is fermented slowly and cooked in a wood fired oven.
Charlbury is a medieval Cotswold town, with narrow winding streets, stunning views and beautiful stone cottages. The room has a curved wall looking out over a wonderful view of the garden. From the terrace you can see across to the church, with swifts soaring.
We are in the heart of Charlbury, a medieval Cotswold town. There are 5 or more churches, 4 pubs with good beer and good food, a deli and a small cooperative supermarket. Good walks and cycling in the area as well as many other beautiful Cotswold villages - including Burford and Woodstock (Blenheim Palace). It is also handy for Oxford, which is just 15 minutes away by train.

A lovely room in our home in the heart of a village close to Oxford with road, rail & bus links. It's a short walk to the station for a 10min train to Oxford (and London trains). With woodland and country walks from the front door and red kites often circling overhead, Blenheim Palace & Park is very close by. It's a great base for exploring Oxfordshire & the Cotswolds. The village has 2 CoOp's, post office, fish‘n’chip and pizza takeaway, and good pubs with food. The room has a TV & mini-fridge.
It is a bright, sunny and south-facing, self-contained room at the front of the house which comprises a comfortable bedroom with en suite. The bedroom (10 sq.m) has a good quality double bed and mattress (190x130), hooks and plenty of hangers, an old pine chest of (4) drawers, a mini-fridge, TV, bed-reading lights and free WiFi access. The en suite (4 sq.m) has a quality 'rain' shower (with grab rail), WC (with grab rail), basin and chrome ladder radiator – good quality towels are provided, along with ''Faith in Nature" Lavender & Geranium shower gel, shampoo & conditioner as stocked by Oxfam. TEAs / COFFEE & BREAKFAST: Teas, coffee, sugar and milk are provided in the room with a kettle. An in-room light breakfast is provided of muesli or a choice of flavours of warming 'porridge in a pot' for you to prepare - we'll supply milk if you'd like it - to keep in the mini-fridge. The room is tastefully decorated with original contemporary art, ornaments and family furniture. The digital 24" TV has multiple channels (& radio). We hope and believe you will find it welcoming - whoever you are. Our working lives have taken us all over the world - we are open-minded and welcome internationalism and diversity of all kinds. We keep learning more and more from meeting people of all backgrounds and identities. You're welcome ! DISABLED ACCESS: There is level access (except for a low threshold on the front door) to the room and sufficient space to manoeuvre a manual wheelchair - but not in the en suite, where there are grab rails by the WC and in the shower. We can provide a shower chair and WC seat-raiser and frame if requested, and you are welcome to borrow our lightweight folding wheelchair ramp for your days out if you wish.

  • Comfy bed and great place to stay! I sadly could not stay to try Eileen’s breakfast but if it tastes anything like her delicious homemade Christmas cake then I would have been in for a treat! Lovely cosy home - SO interesting lots of beautiful paintings from Eileen’s travels. Would definitely stay again. Had the privacy I needed to rest, but also a very pleasant chat the morning I left. Thank you Eileen.

The sunny south-facing guest suite is in our home in the heart of the village close to Oxford with great road, rail & bus links. A short walk to the station for a 10min ride to Oxford (& London trains), and plenty of woodland/country walks from the front door and red kites often circling overhead. Blenheim Palace and Park is very close by. It's a great base for exploring Oxfordshire & the Cotswolds. The village has 2 CoOp's, a post office, fish‘n’chip and pizza takeaway, and good pubs with food.
It is a bright, well-appointed, self-contained and well-equipped two-room flatlet on the first floor. It comprises a lovely large double bedroom (en suite) with a connecting door to a roomy private living room with kitchenette. It is accessed through, and is in, the main house - but is otherwise entirely self-contained. The bedroom has a good quality iron-frame double bed and mattress (190x130), and old pine chest of drawers, wardrobe, well-stocked bookshelf and bedside tables and lights. The compact ensuite has a quality shower, WC, basin and chrome ladder radiator. Good quality towels are provided, along with 'Faith in Nature' Lavender & Geranium shower gel, shampoo & conditioner as stocked by Oxfam. The attached living room has a comfortable 2-seater sofa(bed), a work/dining table, a TV, iPod dock for music, and free WiFi access. There is a neat built-in studio kitchenette with fridge, microwave, ceramic double hob, sink, kettle, and toaster. Tea & coffee, milk & sugar, and a good quality breakfast muesli and 'porridge pots' are provided for an easy simple breakfast, as are cutlery, crockery, mugs and glasses and pots, pans, dishes & utensils should you want to cook for yourself. You can eat out in local pubs, bring in takeaways, or if you are staying longer the co-op supermarket is a short walk away and the flatlet is well equipped for self-catering and quiet nights 'in' with books, music or TV after your busy days out and about. Both rooms are tastefully freshly decorated, and have African art and ornaments. We hope and believe you will find it welcoming - whoever you are. Our working lives have taken us all over the world - we are open-minded and welcome internationalism and diversity of all kinds. We keep learning more and more from meeting people of all backgrounds and identities. You're welcome !
Long Hanborough is a medium size village with good amenities.

  • We were very pleased with everything, the rooms were very well appointed and comfortable. The location for Oxford and Blenheim palace is ideal. Train station an easy walk to travel to Oxford and Blenheim just a short drive, as was the pretty town of Woodstock where we ate one evening. For nearer food and drink we also used the village pub which was a pleasant short stroll away. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Private room in a quiet area of Witney, within walking distance to town. Off road parking free. Perfect for business or holiday, close to Burford and the Cotswolds and a direct bus into Oxford centre/station a short walk away. Large kitchen, we are happy for guests to use as we do not provide breakfast, garden and a shared bathroom. We have recently welcomed a cockapoo puppy, Polly, into our family. She is friendly but still quite young and is as equally as excited to meet new people as us.
Comfy and homely feel. Close to Witney centre, 10 minute walk. On the doorstep to the Cotswolds. Ideally placed for any events at Bleheim Palace (15 minute drive).
  • Perfect bedroom, clean house and they are adaptable with your request. We have stayed one night and it was very good. Very welcoming people.

Welcome to Gables Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Please note that the owner of the property has recently carried out some upgrades to the property therefore the rooms, particularly the kitchen may be a little different from those in the pictures above. Please do contact us for further details. Gables Cottage is a beautiful, grade II listed Cotswold stone property, located in the heart of the pretty, peaceful village of Churchill and surrounded by the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Churchill is fortunate to have a lovely church and village green, as well as a well-regarded pub, and is only three miles away from Chipping Norton and seven miles away from Stow-on-the-Wold, which are two of the well known Cotswold market towns. Gables Cottage is well placed for exploring the surrounding countryside or visiting the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as other tourist destinations, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Gables Cottage is accessed via its back door, which opens into a small porch and then a larger hallway. Two ground floor rooms lead off the hallway: Living room: A beautiful dual-aspect room, with flagstone flooring in half the room, exposed Cotswold stone, oak beams and a large inglenook fireplace, containing a wood burning stove. There is comfy seating for six and a flatscreen TV, with a full Sky package; Kitchen/dining room: Another dual-aspect room, with oak beams and a lovely window seat. The kitchen facilities include an electric single oven, four-ring hob, washer/dryer, a microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a fridge/freezer. This sociable room also contains an extendable wooden dining table and six dining chairs. A beautiful wooden spiral staircase goes up from the hallway to the first floor landing. Please note that the staircase is steep and narrow, however, it does have a hand rail in the centre and fixed stair gates at the top and bottom. The following rooms are on the first floor: Master bedroom: Another beautiful dual-aspect room, with elm floorboards and oak beams, which contains a king size bed. There is also a small en-suite bathroom, containing an electric shower, toilet and wash basin; Bedroom 2: Again, a lovely dual-aspect room, with elm floorboards, oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone and an old inglenook fireplace, plus a hanging rail. Contains a king size bed; Family bathroom: The large, elegant bathroom has recently been refurbished and contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. A door on the landing opens onto another narrow, steep spiral staircase, leading up to the second floor. Please note that there is no handrail on this staircase, or safety gate at the top. There is a small landing at the top of the stairs, which contains a particularly low beam, which must be ducked under to get into: Bedroom 3: A lovely room, in the eaves of the cottage, which contains two single beds and a sofa. Gable Cottage's mature, enclosed garden is at the back of the property and is a mixture of lawn and patio areas. There is an outdoor table and plenty of seating, as well as a charcoal barbecue and children's outdoor toys. Within the garden is an outhouse, which contains a washing machine, tumble dryer and a large fridge freezer. Outside the garden, there is off-street parking available for two cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • Beautiful, large cottage in wonderful Cotswolds village. Spotlessly clean and lots of amenities. Good for children with built in stair gates and high chairs, etc. Check in of 4pm is quite late though and there was no flexibility when we stayed. Otherwise would highly recommend.

  • Fantastic space in a lovely Cotswolds town. Very cosy for the colder months!

    Julian2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage with a lot of quirks. The original spiral suitcase is a little scary so definitely not suitable to those with mobility issues or children. Lovely garden and kitchen and the rooms were very comfy. NB you need a car as it is very remote and not near any shops or ATMs

    Johara2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, gorgeous outdoor space for meals in the terrace behind the garden. Very low ceilings though!

    Steph2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous little country cottage in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds. Churchill is a beautiful village with an amazing pub that you must visit. There are some great walks and I would recommend taking a stroll over to the village of Kingham too. The owners really have thought of everything and the only downside will be when you have to leave !

Dating back to the 16th century, The Old Smithy combines charm and character with the modern day comforts one would expect from a ‘home away from home’. Tucked away, the village green provides the back drop to this contemporary bolthole within an enchanting village setting. Two excellent country pubs, the village shop and The Mill House Hotel are within walking distance, whilst the ever popular Daylesford Organic Farmshop and Spa is a few minutes drive away. Ground Floor Accommodation: All on one level: Open-plan living area with a vaulted ceiling Kitchen/dining area With an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. There is also a farmhouse table and seating for two. Sitting area With a wood burning stove. LCD television and DVD player and iPod dock. Bedroom With a 5' king-size bed. En-suite shower room With a double shower, wash basin, heated towel rail and wc. Outside: At the front of the property, there is an enclosed garden with lawn area, outside table and seating for four. Street parking is available at the front of the property. Additional Information: A welcome basket of logs is provided. One well behaved dog welcome (small additional charge).
  • The Old Smithy was a lovely cosy hideaway, even during storm Dennis! A really nicely laid out living space with a really efficient log stove kept us comfy and warm!

    Lucy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you're considering booking The Old Smithy, don't hesitate! It's full of charm and old-world character with all the modern touches you could need. The shower is fantastic and the log burner works a treat creating a wonderful cosy atmosphere! Kingham itself is the quintessential Cotswolds village benefitting from two amazing pubs...we can highly recommend both; we frequented both for dinner and The Kingham Plough does a fantastic breakfast and is only two minutes walk away! If you do decide to stay in the area we can also highly recommend Dalesford Farm, we found a reason to drop in every day of our stay...either for tea and cake, picking up some fantastic food or for breakfast on our last day before setting off home. We can't wait to return soon!!

    Gilly2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Smithy is small but perfectly formed and has everything you need. We had stayed a few times in this area and it is definitely one of the best. Very clean and well presented. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend - in fact we have already done so!

  • One of the best stays. Warm, clean, quiet, cozy loft, got everything we needed. The host is very friendly and helpful.

    Atmo2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy loft tucked away in the middle of town. Clean and tidy, fruit and milk provided, has everything you need for a short stay. It was Wednesday night so we could hear the local church bell ringers practise!

    Marjaana2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy little loft room. Very private, as it's above the car port of the main house with a separate entrance. I stayed on a cold weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find the heating already on when I arrived in the evening so it was toasty when I went to bed. Could be hard to find for some guests, but hosts gave an excellent description of how to find it. Hosts were very communicative and responsive.

    Ursula2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was great. A cozy, clean place which we really enjoyed. They turned up the heat for us because we traveled with infant. Definitely recommend!

    Tam2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Annabel and Daniela's place is great. We needed a quiet night away and this was perfect, as it is really in the centre of the village, so you can walk to the pubs for dinner and drinks and there are good walks on your doorstep. The space is great because you have the place to yourself, and it is really cosy as a loft but well thought-out with the ensuite shower and small amenities you might need, such as a kettle and toiletries.
