The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • We spent the whole weekend in this excellent property that was of a very high spec. It exceeded our expectations. One did not want for anything. Gorgeous stove in cozy sitting room which had 2 cupboards of games that we took full advantage of over a warm fire. The whole property was spotlessly clean. All essential services were well labelled easing the pressure of trying to figure out how services worked. The surrounding area is just beautiful. The provided maps helped us plan our daily walks prior to returning to a well equipped kitchen to cook up a feast.

  • Honeysuckle House is absolutely stunning, even better than the already fantastic pictures. It’s really well equipped, especially with plenty of kitchen equipment if you’ve got the full amount of guests. The location is great with plenty of pubs to pick from within quick driving distance. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough and hope to be able to stay again!

  • 12 of us stayed for a university friends reunion and it was the perfect space for us all to catch up and relax together. The open plan kitchen and diner was the best part of the house as we were all able to help cook and eat together without feeling cramped. Each bedroom was decorated beautifully and it really felt like being in someone’s home. We were so glad we chose to host the reunion in a house rather than a hotel. Whilst we didn’t leave the house all that much as it had everything we need we did venture to a local pub which was only a short walk away across lovely countryside. If your looking for a house to be with family or friends in the quiet countryside, this house is for you.

  • Honeysuckle House is the perfect place, exactly as shown and described (if not better). We can’t wait to return for another long relaxing weekend, away from the hustle and bustle. Thanks again!

  • Prepared to feel totally spoilt! A lovely weekend escape with lots of friend and babies. Kitchen designed for lovely nights in...

  • Really lovely cottage for a large group. There are actual beds for 12 people which were all very comfortable. The cottage is about 5-10 mins in a taxi from Kemble station and really close to the Thames path. You can do a c1.5 hour walk along the path to a lovely pub (Tunnel house inn). The cottage is decorated to a very high quality and has a lot of kitchen equipment which is good for a group group (glasses, plates, etc). I would definitely recommend and stay again, however next time I would ensure to confirm late check out.

  • Victoria’s place was a lovely little cottage that was the perfect home base for my husband and I to explore the area. Although we didn’t meet Victoria in person, her communication was excellent. Directions to the home were easy to follow and check in was simple, with a lockbox by the door. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, including a great selection of breakfast foods (eggs, bread, cereal, oatmeal, yoghurt, milk, juice, etc. ) The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pots, casseroles and utensils for basic food preparation. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I don’t normally like a soft bed, but this was like sleeping on a cloud! There is also a sofa bed if you have a small child or two. Although it would make the space seem cramped when pulled out. The cottage was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The wifi worked well. There was a TV with basic channels. We would have enjoyed some way to watch a movie, but it was also nice to “unplug” and read while we were in the room. I highly recommend Victoria’s place and would happily return if I’m ever in the area again.

Welcome to Castle Mews, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Castle Mews is a hidden gem of a cottage, at the end of a short row of cottages tucked away down a gated passageway, right in the heart of the lovely market town of Cirencester. In Roman times Cirencester was known as “Corinium”, when it was the second largest town in Britain, a history that is celebrated in its local museum. Nowadays, Cirencester is the largest town in the Cotswolds, enabling it to support a wide range of pubs, restaurants and shops, all housed in beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings. The town is surrounded by stunning countryside and beautiful Cotswold villages, as well as being an ideal base for visiting further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford or even a day trip into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Castle Mews is very peacefully located, down a gated passageway off Castle street, a beautiful street in the heart of Cirencester. There is a lovely enclosed courtyard garden at the front of the cottage, which leads to the front door. The door opens into the open plan ground floor: Living/dining area: The relaxing living and dining space contains a comfy sofa, an armchair and a wooden dining table, with seating for two. Discretely hidden away in a wooden cabinet is a small SMART TV and DVD player; Kitchen area: The lovely kitchen area is very well laid out and contains a two ring induction hob, electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a washing machine/tumble dryer. Stairs lead up from the living area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with oak beams and a ledge and brace door, which contains a king size bed; Dressing room: A nice additional space, which contains a sofa, a dressing table and a free standing towel rail; Bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Returning downstairs, a stable door leads out from the kitchen area to a small, enclosed courtyard garden at the back of the cottage, which contains a table and two seats. The garden area at the front of the cottage is larger and is a beautiful place to sit outside and relax, containing two comfy chairs and a small table.
Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade".

  • Sweet little cottage in the countryside. Rowena is a great hostess -- quick to reply to any messages and full of advice and suggestions for things to do. There are good pubs within walking distance. Having a car is definitely a plus if you want to do much exploring in the area beyond the immediate fields, though, we managed without one. While most of our walks were cut short by flooded fields, it was nice to explore the area and great to come back to the cottage to warm up with tea, brownies, and a good foot soak.

  • Great place to stay ☺️

    Anthony2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful visit! The cottage was well appointed and spotlessly clean and comfortable. Rowena was a very pleasant and helpful host. The local area is quiet and beautiful but not too far away from amenities. This was a perfect, quiet, relaxing and comfortable stay and is highly recommended for those wanting a ‘getaway’ from the big cities.

    Ian2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely couple of nights stay that we had at Rowena’s place. The cottage was lovely and very cosy. Everyone on the estate was very friendly and we couldn’t ask for a better time!

  • Lovely place to retreat to. Friendly welcome and beautiful space.

    Sarah2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We can highly recommend this place. Everything was perfect. We stayed there in December : The property was lovely and warm and I loved the fact that there was a bath with plenty of hot water: Great for after going on a hike across the fields. The homemade brownies were scrummy. The lodge is sparkling clean. As I have said, just perfect.

The hosts are incredible and helpful, the room was clean and had everything we needed or a few days of relaxing. We would recommend the place to anyone who wants to enjoy some fresh air and traditional British landscapes. :)

There is a really nice pub/restaurant within 10 minutes walk in a nice and quiet village. The location is great, nearby the Cotswalds airport, and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs to visit within 30 minutes drive. Not too far from Cirenchester either! The accommodation is really nice, cosy and warm. We enjoyed the break here. The bed is really comfortable and you have all the utilities that you need to cook. Ros is a really great host, really responsive and was very helpful. Overall, a really nice location and would recommend to anyone who would like a long weekend away! Ideal for couples.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay in this little cottage in the Cotswolds. It was in a great location to reach from Bristol and not far from the arboretum and also the Cotswolds Water Park - both great for walking despite the weather. The kitchen had everything you need to cook whilst staying. The sofa and bed are both very comfortable. The whole place was exceptionally clean. I will definitely be recommending to friends. Roa was so super helpful - answering very quickly. Thanks for our stay 😁

  • We stayed for 5 nights over the New Year and it was the perfect little base for us in the Cotswolds. It's located in a very peaceful corner of Wiltshire with delicious pubs all within a 10-mile radius. The Wheatsheaf in Oaksey and The Potting Shed in Crudwell are delicious - the latter in particular is just unreal - and you've got Malmesbury, Cirencester, Gloucester and Bristol all within reach, too. You can do as much or as little as you like, here, and it's truly a home from home.

Self-contained bedroom annexe with bathroom in the heart of a charming, quiet Cotswold village. Breakfast hamper with bread/pastries, preserves, fruit juice, milk, cereal and fruit. Friendly local pub serving good food. Access to Cotswold Water Park, Thames Path, Kemble Airfield and Cirencester with its shops and restaurants. The annexe is great for couple. An additional (small) single bed can be added for two friends sharing or for parents with a child (travel cot available for babies).
This is a newly decorated double room in a stone-built annexe separate to the main cottage, with it's own private access. It has a lovely oak bed with a new mattress and cotton sheets. The ensuite bathroom has a toilet and shower, towels, shampoo and other essentials.
We are located in a small village in the Cotswold Water Park, an area of lakes and countryside very popular for walks, watersports and nature reserves. • This Annexe is located in a wonderful spot with easy access to local amenities, the Cotswold Water parks and Cirencester. It is in a very quiet spot which offers privacy within a delightful community. The Host, Mair, is incredibly helpful and accommodating - she is excellent at responding to emails, and I had everything I needed. The Annexe was very clean, comfortable, and had all the basic needs. There bedding, towels etc. were plentiful and in great condition. Overall, I would highly recommend this property.

The village is quiet, with local walks on the doorstep along with local pub. Its great to come back to the cottage from chilly walks knowing there's heating and a kettle with nibbles.

A beautiful Grade 11 listed country house, comfortable with luxurious touches and interior design influences. The house has many original features and lots of nooks and crannies to hideaway with a good book or work on a project.
The house is right next door to Siddington church and opposite an ancient tithe barn. It is in a very quiet cul de sac, in the village but slightly apart from it. The village is very near Cirencester, a thriving market town which is the gateway to the Cotswolds and we also have wonderful walks and open fields with horses on our doorstep.
It is a friendly village with a village shop and pub which serves good food within walking distance.

Spacious converted stable on ground level. Very quiet, but very accessible for exploring the Cotswolds. Super king/twin bed, plus sofa bed in living area. Kitchen/dining area with hob/microwave/fridge, super fast broadband! Courtyard with bbq. Short stroll to Head of River Thames! Bike hire at Kemble Station. Cirencester 2 miles; Highgrove /Westonbirt Arboretum 8m; Cheltenham 18m;. Bath/Marlborough 28m; Oxford/Stratford 40m. Can be booked WITH Wood Fired Hot Tub via our other listing.
Our guests seem to like the rural setting and relaxing environment, but that they are central for exploring the Cotswolds and further afield. Many walk to the local pubs and catch a taxi home! Most people stroll out and look at the Head of the River Thames - which is fairly disappointing it has to be said for most of the year, but after a lot of rain transforms! Still fun to say you've seen it! We are 0.5 miles away from route 45 of the National Cycle Network - which "traverses the Cotswold Water Park on bridleways (which can be muddy in wet weather), to swing across the high plateau of the Cotswold Hills to the ancient Roman town of Cirencester. After this it travels down the escarpment to Nailsworth and via traffic free railway paths and canal towpaths to Stroud " Bikes can be hired from Kemble Railway Station via the Donkey Republic App. Just to remind you that there is NO oven in the Stables.
We are a rural location, where you can walk straight into fields. You can walk to the source of the River Thames and as we are at the start of the Thames Path - so you could just keep walking to London! You can walk to the Thames Head Inn, The Tunnel House in Coates or The Duck in Ewen but only across fields and in DAYLIGHT!! Many guests have used us as a half way house between sight seeing in Bath and Oxford. We are 2 miles from Cirencester; 7 miles from Tetbury; 10 miles from Malmesbury
  • Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer. Highly recommend.

  • Whilst storm Dennis did it’s best to dampen our spirits during our weekend away in the Cotswolds, the loggia was a lovely cosy refuge from the storm! Barbara has prepared the heating to be on before we arrived and the Loggia was very clean and comfy with all the appliances etc you could need. The location is great, close to so many beautiful villages and the proximity of the local pub the Wheatsheaf is fantastic! Dog friendly too and Frank loved the private enclosed garden space. Would love to come back in the sun!

Will forever be thankful as I had an important interview the next day! Thank you Sarah ❤️

  • This is a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location, I would thoroughly recommend! We had a lovely weekend staying here, perfect spot for cycling or just generally getting out and about. Laura & Dries were incredibly thoughtful hosts, leaving us with everything we needed for a great weekend

  • We enjoyed a lovely weekend at Talliers Cottage. The weather was awful so we were really pleased to have a nice space to relax in, as well being literally a few steps from the town centre cafes, pubs and shops etc. The space had all we needed and the airing rack was very helpful for drying our drenched clothes. Parking wasn't an issue in the Waterloo and we were able to pay for the following day's parking after 6.00pm so that the ticket was on display from 8am the following morning - £6.50 for all day parking. The place was clean and breakfast provisions were appreciated . We look forward to staying in Talliers again on our next visit to the Cotswolds. Thanks again p.s. lots of good places to eat - Cote Brassiere and Tierra and Mar were excellent

    Mary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z

Charmingly renovated cottage, quintessentially Cotswold on the outside, calm and contemporary on the inside. Stunning handmade kitchen, fully equipped and boasting a beautiful AGA. The living room has a library feel, with huge squishy leather sofa, an Abu dance of books, TV, Wifi and digital radio. Upstairs the beamed bedroom space is cosy and romantic, with views of the gardens and surrounding countryside.
  • Beautiful cottage, just as delightfully as it looks in the pictures. Lovely peaceful gardens and surrounding countryside. All you could want .

  • Great spot exactly what I was after to enjoy weekend away with my wife.

    Oliver2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Photos do not do this place justice! We were overwhelmed with the cottage and it’s grounds. Allan and Ruby were incredible hosts and couldn’t have done any more! So many lovely extra touches such as fresh flowers, fresh bread and wine. Amazing stay and will definitely book to return again!

    Sarah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Having read the other reviews before our visit I was very excited for our weekend away. The cottage 100% lived up to expectation and actually exceeded it. The cottage, house and surrounding grounds are beautiful and ell kept. The upgraded hot tub to the one in the photos was an awesome surprise. We didn't get to use the sauna, but a lovely facility that future guests are sure to make use of. Location was perfect for day tripping in the cotswold with pubs, restaurants and supermarkets all nearby. Overall an amazing spot tucked away in the beautiful Cotswolds. I hope we can make a return visit some day.

    Rebecca2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10. Absolutely brilliant beautiful cottage with amazing gardens (all fully secure so the dogs could roam free). Allan was an absolutely fantastic host who could not have been more welcoming. The cottage is gorgeous, sparkling clean and so cute and cosy. Can’t wait to come back.

    Thomas2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really nice. We had an amazing week end and the hot tub was really relaxing. I definitely recommand it! We will be back for sure!

    Maud2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute cottage tucked, away on stunning grounds. If it's escapism you're after, I can't recommend this place highly enough! Alan was so kind, greeting us as we srrived. he showed us around, and even invited us in the share a bottle of wine with him! We loved the thoughtful touches-freshly cut flowers, croissants, prosecco etc which were left for us. Jodie was even kind enough to decorate the place with balloons and banners, as it was a surprise getaway for my partner's birthday. Excellent location for wandering around cirencester, taking walks around stunning English countryside, and visiting the local theatre. Or if the weather is not great, the cottage/hot tub/sauna are perfect enough to just stay at home! Definitely plan on returning to this gem of a place in the future!

  • I highly recommend a stay at Jenny's place. It's a perfectly located staging post for access into the Cotswolds and all the beauty it has to offer. I enjoyed some lovely walks nearby as this was my first visit but, with the intention of returning again soon, I will be exploring further afield and still intend to stay at Jenny's. Crudwell itself is a lovely village and the local pub, The Potting Shed, is not only a great place to have a drink but also to eat. I didn't make it to the Rectory Hotel but, upon recommendation, I will be heading there for breakfast on my next visit. Thanks to Jenny and Gregor for their hospitality and for allowing me to stay at their lovely place. I hope you guys book a visit to this lovely part of the world soon.

Double bed in quiet owner-occupied newly built house near lake. Possibly another AirBnB guest staying in another room sharing the bathroom (or could be myself or girlfriend). We may or may not be there face-to-face for check-in (if not we we provide a key) and we usually have minimal contact during the stay other than for queries and/or messages via the AirBnB app. As we like to keep our property quiet and relaxing, we are ideal for quiet people who go to bed before 10:30pm and raise after 7am.
Use of room and bathroom. Use of kitchen for the microwave and to store a a couple of items in the fridge is OK if you let us know in advance. If you want to use the kitchen for anything more than that then there is an extra charge, usually £10 per night. As we are regularly cooking ourselves, please let us know before you arrive or there will likely not be space!
Situated in Cotswold Water Park. Easy drive to Cirencester, Swindon and Malmesbury, along with the A419 and M4.

Lovely clean bedding and the kitchen was modern and well equipped. The site has a fantastic indoor pool, (which is really warm!), and the kids loved the two adventure playgrounds.

A Grade 11 listed country house with a comfortable, relaxed feel, luxurious touches and interior design influences. Original features, nooks and crannies, a perfect place for a relaxing getaway or base to explore the Cotswolds
A lovely village with great pub in walking distance, country walks and open fields around. Yet very near Cirencester, unique shops, a market, bars and restaurants and thegateway to the Cotswolds.
We love the easy access to Cirencester, a beautiful and thriving market town and we love having open fields and country walks nearby. The area and people are friendly.
  • Beautiful house in a really good location. Lovely pub 10minutes walk away too

Newly renovated, beautiful stylish townhouse with 5 star comfort in the heart of Cirencester with on site parking, 5-10 minutes walk from the town centre. The property is a pretty Cotswold stone townhouse on Cirencester's most historic and oldest street. It has a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable and cosy lounge with 3 sofas, a, light and airy dining room and a downstairs cloakroom. The first floor has 2 bedrooms and a family bathroom, the 2nd floor has a suite with bedroom and bathroom.
Luxurious linens, fluffy white bath sheets and face towels. Paraben free hand wash, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner by Duck Island come included as standard. Cirencester is very pressured for parking and the house provides on site parking at the back of the house with steps and gate to the garden.
The town centre is so close by as is one of the oldest outdoor lido's in the UK which is in walking distance very close by.
  • We loved it. Actually the best Airbnb space we have been in (out of about 15, all very high quality ones). Very clean, great amenities, very high quality bedding and towels, smooth process, awesome location etc. We’d love to come back.

The Potting Shed is the quintessential 5* Cotswold escape. Following an 18 month restoration completed in May 2019, this stone barn conversion is the perfect retreat. Located within the grounds of an elegant Grade II listed Georgian town house on Cecily Hill - voted one of the prettiest streets in England, this romantic getaway is accessed by a private stone bridge which leads through through a formal kitchen garden to a stunning private terrace.
COVID-19 POTTING SHED UPDATE - Your safety and protection is our top priority, we are deep cleaning the Potting Shed between visits and have plenty of anti-bacterial wipes and hand wash throughout the property. In addition you are totally isolated, with your own private entrances, plenty of private outside space and the largest park (Cirencester Park) in the county right on your doorstep to roam around in complete privacy. As of 21/3/20 Most restaurants/Pubs are offering take away and delivery services. Further details will be listed in our guidebook as they become available. Send us a message, we are here to help! The Potting Shed is a self-contained converted stone barn which occupies 550 sq ft of living space and has a generous 200 sq ft private terrace. This gorgeous hideaway sits in our grounds but, with its own separate entrance, it is a very private and quiet cottage. Following an extensive restoration from the ground up in 2018/19, we have used local materials and Cotswold craftsmanship to create a retreat that’s been decorated to a very high standard throughout using beautiful fittings, Farrow and Ball paints and designer fabrics. Upstairs under the eaves, with their original lime-washed oak beams and exposed Cotswold stone walls, are 4 heritage double glazed conservation windows, fitted with black out blinds for the light early mornings. The queen sized (1400) pocket sprung bed with luxurious 400 thread Egyptian cotton pressed linen (Nb. Can also be set up as a twin room) occupies one end of the bedroom while a generous cupboard sits at the other end with a hanging rail and masses of hangers for your clothes and space for your bags. All the upstairs lighting controls are conveniently located next to both sides of the bed. In addition, there is a DAB Roberts radio on the bedside table. Downstairs features a great living space with excellent wifi and underfloor heating installed throughout. There’s a fully equipped kitchen containing a Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge with ice compartment, gas cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, washing machine and masses of kitchen utensils, pots and pans… so if you fancy dining in, there’s everything you need to create delicious meals while the drop-leaf dining table can be extended from 2 to 4 places. In the cosy living area, there’s a deep sofa and a 4k TV with access to both Catch-up and Netflix. Finally, for those chilly evenings, a stylish Chesneys gas fire will keep you lovely and warm and as it’s operated by remote control, you need only to lift a finger ! The luxurious bathroom is also located downstairs and is equipped with underfloor heating and high end fittings such as a Hanns Grohe shower, Burlington taps and natural Bramley bathroom products, all designed for complete indulgence. To ensure your stay is as comfortable as can be, we’ve kitted out the cottage with a fully integrated heating system operated by Nest, which also controls the underfloor heating. But your safety is vital so we’ve also installed an intelligent AutoMist® fire suppression system. Outside, the terrace is perfectly set-up for alfresco drinks and dining and it is there exclusively for your use. There is a shared formal kitchen garden / potager, bordered by a mature hedge which forms the boundary of the shared space, beyond which the rest of the garden is private. The Gumstool Brook bridge was also rebuilt last year and the iron decorative railings and pillars which we added won the Cirencester 2019 Civic Design award. Checking-in, Dropping off & Parking The Potting Shed is set up for self check-in, with a keypad entry system on the bridge and a key safe by the front door. Unfortunately, we do not provide parking on site, however there is a drop off point at the end of the Gumstool Brook path, where guests can unload. Cars can be parked at The Old Station, The Brewery, Waterloo or The Beeches car parks; there is also free off-street parking on Barton Lane (subject to availability) just 3 minutes’ walk away. Alternatively, private parking can be arranged for a small charge 5 minutes walk away, including a Type 2 EV charge point. For those travelling without a car, Kemble train station is situated 10 minutes from Cirencester – and trains from London take 1hr 20mins. From May until September, the beautiful Cirencester open air swimming pool, with its warm spring-fed water, is open from 7am. It’s a couple of minutes' walk along from the Gumstool Brook bridge so why not go for a refreshing early morning dip!
We are located in perhaps the most beautiful and convenient location in Cirencester. The local pub and best restaurants in town are 90 seconds away and if you enjoy a good walk, we are right next to the entrance of Cirencester park and estate owned by Lord and Lady Bathurst with a cafe, miles and miles of walking, Cirencester cricket club, tennis courts and polo which is played throughout the summer. Bring your walking boots or don’t and just sit in this wonderful park and watch the world go by.. last but not least there is the recently refurbished open air pool, 1 minute walk away and open throughout the summer.
  • If you are thinking of staying here then do not hesitate and book now! The potting shed is beautiful, spotless, perfectly located and just an ideal little hideaway. Dominic always responded to emails very quickly and was kind enough to come and meet us to check in, giving us advice on parking and restaurants etc. Cannot stress enough how lovely the place is and we literally didn’t want to leave. Already discussing when we can fit in another visit. Would highly recommend.

Tarlton is a pretty and sleepy hamlet, off the beaten track but within ten minutes of the historic market towns of Cirencester and Tetbury. It is close to the heart of the scenic Cotswold region with major attractions like Stow, Chipping Camden and Burford and bigger destinations like Bath and Cheltenham all within about 40 minutes drive. Only slightly farther afield are Shakespeare's Stratford, Stonehenge, Blenheim Palace and the dreaming spires of Oxford. Asphodel is a perfect base to relax or explore. Locally just a mile away via country path or dirt road is the local pub, the Tunnel House, originally built to house workers on the canal tunnel, whose 19th century classical entrance is adjacent. There are excellent gastro-pubs like The Bell at Sapperton, Trouble House Inn, Potting Shed (below) and Village Pub Barnsley all within just ten minutes drive. For special occasions there are critically acclaimed destinations like Barnsley House, Calcot Manor or The Rectory. But you don't always need 'destinations'. One of the delights of the Cotswolds is touring the picturesque country lanes and discovering picture postcard villages where the tourist buses never venture. Relax in the garden of the village cafe or by the fire in the historic pub. All our local recommendations and secrets are revealed in your cottage welcome guide.
  • Perfect postcard cottage located just minutes from Cirencester centre. The place was a dream and was a perfect place to relax, unwind and forget about reality. We went with out 5 month old and dog and lived every second. We will be sure to visit again!
