Places to stay in Everingham
Charming workers semidetached cottage dating back to 1873. Small but cosy, my home has period charm with modern day living. I am more than happy for you to share my living space, feel free to cook, relax in the garden, spend time chatting or just enjoy the peace and quiet of my little retreat. If the village bar is open and you fancy a pint I'll even introduce you to my friendly villagers and neighbours.
I have a dog who loves people so if you're not a dog lover then my place isn't for you. If on the other hand you like dogs, Molly will happily let you stroke her tummy, throw her the ball and generally do anything she can to get your attention. That said, if you ignore her she will leave you alone.
Everingham is a quiet little village with the famous Yorkshire Wolds just a 10 minute drive away while the wonderful East Yorkshire coast is all but 50 minutes drive up the road. I am situated half way between York (22 miles) and Hull (21 miles), perfect for busy city weekend breaks and just 15 minutes drive to the motorway making it ideally placed for Leeds. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside, nature reserves and woodlands. There are lots of villages and great village pubs to explore as well as a few good restaurants and a fantastic michelin star restaurant only 20 minutes drive away. The local towns of Pocklington, Market Weighton and Beverley are full of great cafes, bistros and bars, interesting shops and wonderful history.
  • Would 100% recommend this place it was perfect for an overnight stay.

  • A delightful place full of homely touches and lots of little extras. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The space is incredible and you can see the hard work they put into converting it into a modern home. Would definitely stay here again.

    Alexis2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel is a truly beautiful stay and the work which has been put into the renovation of this historic building is amazing. We stayed for three nights and felt really at home straight away. The kitchen was really well equipped, there were thoughtful touches like pastries which were left for us and parking was easy. The location is fantastic, quiet but very close to the supermarkets and town centre. We would recommend to anyone wanting to stay close to York and the surrounding areas. We used the local park and ride into the city and thoroughly enjoyed exploring beautiful Yorkshire.

    Tom2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel was definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed. The attention to the renovation and the level of comfort and ease is unsurpassed. Everywhere there were thoughtful touches and we loved the modern comforts along with the original features of the chapel itself. It was cosy, comfortable and situated so close to everything and we were able to explore the East Riding and be happy to return to the chapel every evening.

    Barb2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully renovated, comfortable, quiet and short walk to central Pocklington! Sainsbury’s supermarket is about a 3 minute walk, too. Easy to park, simple access instructions and really thoughtful touches. Will definitely stay again! Thanks Owen!

  • Highly recommend a beautiful space with all the home comforts in central location in Pocklington.

    Alison2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Chapel 2 exceeds all expectations! It’s the thoughtful touches which make this place a step up above from the rest... the crockery, the touches in the bathroom, the soft furnishings..... it’s just beautiful and to fully appreciate this home you have to visit. We cannot recommend it more highly. It offers exceptional value and will surpass the most intrepid weekender’s expectations. This place is an absolute gem!

    Adriaan2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place in a lovely quiet area. Perfect for a quiet few days. The surrounding area is picturesque and we caught 2 beautiful sunsets on the horizon. Only woken up by the wildlife, meaning there is no traffic noise which gives a very tranquil stay. Used the park and ride to get to/from York which was very convenient to avoid parking charges while visiting. Would visit again for sure. Only advice I would give is take your own hand soap as there wasn’t any for our trip. However, Sophie is a great host and was very quick responding to messages. 5/5 stars:

  • Loved staying here after a manic few days celebrating our wedding. We chose squirrel lodge as a perfect place to unwind on our mini moon. What a great way to begin married life! Loved the decor, the sofas were so comfortable... the quirky decor was just fabulous and the pineapple light shades were amazing. I need some! We wandered 3 miles to a local pub and loved it for a nice walk out for a few hours -Melbourne Arms. Well worth it! Would definitely recommend and would be tempted to return!

Also just a 10 minutes drive to the beautiful historic town of Beverley with its Cathedral and racecourse.

  • Our stay in John's house was perfect. It is a nice an comfortable small house even for 2 months like us. The village is nice and well situated beetween York, Hull, the cost and national parks.

    Patrice2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • House exactly as described, exemplary cleanliness, well equipped and a person who can help in case of problem or if question (Val) as living in the village.

    Patrice2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Really well appointed property, perfectly clean, very comfortable. Small but everything you need. Really nice design touches everywhere. Happy to stay here again and great value for money. Owners very helpful about check in and other details too.

  • What a little gem this place is! We booked with quite short notice but John emailed us straight away and when we asked to stay another couple of nights, he emailed back within 10 minutes. We found the place really easily with his directions and gained entry via the keysafe. The heating was already on for us and the place was spotlessly clean. John and Val had very kindly left us some tea bags and milk etc so we were able to get straight on with our holiday. The place itself is compact but has everything we needed. A well appointed kitchen/lounge/dining area downstairs all in 1 room and up the stairs to shower room with toilet and a double bedroom. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the bed is really comfy and there is plenty of hot water. The house is located a stones throw from at least 4 nice pubs and there is an abundance of restaurants and take aways. John was able to recommend a few and on following these up, were not disappointed. There are some nice shops including pharmacy, hardware shop and a grocery shop and a Tesco superstore 4 minutes drive away on the edge of town. The town even has its own historical giant! The town is well located for those wishing to explore historic York, the amazing free museums in Hull or a day out at the seaside. John has left some visitors info with nice walks and places to visit. We’ve had no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this place to friends and family and we hope to return next year for another mini break. Well done John and Val

  • A stylish end of terrace cottage, which was perfect for us as a couple. The decor was modern and trendy and the property was immaculately clean with everything that we needed for a home from home feel to our getaway. The use of toiletries and kitchen supplies was great-it was nice to have bread, jams, butter and milk as a welcome pack. Parking in the layby outside the property was ideal and the bed was extremely comfortable too! The town itself has plenty of takeaways, pubs, quaint shops and a tesco supermarket (with petrol station) as back up. It's an ideal base to explore nearby Hull and York. We would happily stay at the cottage again and again.

We also have a park plus the fabulous Burnby Hall Gardens which has amazing gardens, a cafe and band concerts too.
  • The house is everything that one could hope for - and Barbara couldn't have been more helpful! The purpose of the visit was to see a relative who has been living in Pocklington since the early 1960's. We are very familiar with all that Pocklington and the surrounding area has to offer, and if it has entertained our family for nearly 60 years, rest assured that there is plenty to do for a week! It is the first time I have booked through Airbnb - and Barbara couldn't have done more to reassure me that I had understood the process, and that I had done all the right things. And even when it appeared that another event might require us to change the booking to a different weekend (in the end, we didn't) she took this all in her stride. But back to the house. We couldn't fault it. It is a lovely space, light and airy, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. So many thoughtful touches, from the cupboard that says 'Please eat me' onwards! I don't have the skills with words to describe it properly. You'll just have to go and see for yourself! Thank you so much. We'll be back!

  • This is a special place to stay. It is stylish, warm, spacious and exceptionally clean. Barbara left us some extras such as milk and bread and there were some amazing flowers arranged on the dining room table. There were plenty of information leaflets regarding the local area. We enjoyed a couple of walks along the canal and around Millington. We also watched a film at the Pocklington Arts Centre (excellent value). Thank you Barbara

  • An immaculate and perfectly equipped house for our family of four. The accommodation is beautiful and spacious. A 20 minute car journey to the park and ride for York city was perfect for us and our plans for our few days away. We enjoyed take aways from the local fish and chip shop and the Indian restaurant. Both were excellent. We will definitely be back!

  • The 1859 house really surpassed our expectations. Barbara and Mike are lovely hosts and the house is beautifully decorated. Lots of personal touches like board games and DVDs make it feel really homely and it’s very spacious. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it if you’re in the area and would make a great base for exploring York.

  • Wonderful, clean and spacious. Really well set up for our family, with thoughtful touches such as children’s plates and bath toys. Great location for walking into town, and a short drive/bus to York. Lovely and warm with convenient parking, lots of instructions and a well looked after home. We’ll be staying here again!

  • Barbara’s place is the most beautiful place ever! So homely, there were also food/drinks (coffee tea etc) that we were given to feel free to have, but besides that the place was so clean and so amazing! We really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

  • Stayed 2 nights while doing the Yorkshire Wold Way. Accommodation in Thixendale, the next town over, was exorbitantly expensive, so Neil shuttled me there and I walked back. I saved money and as an added bonus got to meet Neil and Cheryl! Two awesome hosts who seem to be in it just so they can meet new people and make new friends. Really enjoyed my stay!

This is approx 100 metres from the centre of town, we parked our car inside the double gates where there is also patio table & chairs where you can relax, inside there’s a lovely king size double bed, logs for the fire if needed, also free range eggs from the hens at the bottom of the garden, where there’s another relaxing area, I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone, Helen & Patrick are the perfect host a big THANKYOU.

  • We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at Helens. The accommodation is in a lovely quiet town but access to York is very easy via bus. The accommodation itself is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need to make your stay enjoyable and hassle free. There is a small wood fire to keep you warm and cosy on a chilly evening and a lovely backyard with some friendly chooks if you care to visit them. There is a very handy guide which explains all you need to know about the accommodation as well as lots of extra local tips. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and very helpful. We would definitely recommend this property.

We really enjoyed our stay.

  • A great place to explore the Wolds from and close to York on the park and ride 15 min drive away. Angela left a bottle of wine and some chocolate biscuits for us which was very thoughtful. House was clean and a trip down memory lane with 80s furnishings and decor but everything worked well and was comfortable. Angela loves next door so was very handy if we had any questions. Would recommend and plenty of room for family of 4.

    Sarah2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, where to start? This is such a beautiful cottage which has really made the use of its space. The furnishings are so stylish and modern and still keeping in tune with a cottage feel to it. The whole place was sparkling clean and I loved how even the lounge area had some cute unusual decorations in it (and board games!) The little touches in the cottage were the cherry on top of the cake from a welcome basket to having handy facilities such as washing up soap and oil or bathroom facilities such as shampoo etc. My guests and I felt like we were living in luxury for the weekend! Right from the start Sharon was so helpful with keeping in touch and providing very clear instructions for how to find the cottage. The village it's situated in seemed very peaceful and quiet with an easy 30 minute drive to York City centre (easy to book taxis from York also!) We hope to return to this luxurious get-away some time in the near future and would 100% recommend if you are thinking of booking!

Perfect for a romantic weekend away or for business travellers to York who also want a bit of peace & country air. Includes use of tennis court and walks through the woods. Close to York or if you enjoy browsing little artisan shops and stopping off for coffee & cake, or hiking, Wolds market town Pocklington is 5 miles away.
There is a fridge and kettle and we are happy to provide a simple breakfast of cereal. For any special dietary requirements please message us in advance and we’re happy to see if we can accommodate you (this may be at additional cost). We are a busy home educating family (with two boys aged 14 & 12) and we host numerous tutor and study groups during the week. These are mainly fairly peaceful as they’re predominantly for older children but occasionally younger siblings come as well and can be a bit more boisterous and you may hear them if they’re playing outside. Weekends and evenings tend to be more peaceful. We also have three cats who are very friendly and curious so they might pop in to say hello if you leave the door open! We are a sociable family and are happy to meet you and talk to you about the area and things you might enjoy, or we’re also happy to leave you to yourselves if that’s more your cup of tea.
We are in a beautiful part of the countryside but also close to the fascinating historic city of York. So, this is a perfect spot if you want to be near York or if you are visiting the University it’s only a 15/20 min drive to the park and ride on the outskirts of York which is also next to where the University is) but we can offer the advantage of also being able to retreat to the fresh air and peace of the countryside after a busy day in the city. The farm is an interesting place to explore with ancient woodland, lakes and ponds and a lovely pottage garden which is particularly beautiful in the spring and summer when the roses and other flowers are in bloom. We also have a little orchard garden little farm pond with hen coops. Pocklington is close by (5-10 mins) and is a lovely quaint English market town with lots of nice coffee shops and little artisan furniture and gift shops. We are also close to the Yorkshire Wolds for those who are interested in hiking. If you fancy a longer stay it’s also a reasonable drive to the East Yorkshire coast (approx 1-1.5 hours drive depending on where you want to visit).
  • The Owl House is a stunning retreat set in an equally stunning surrounding. The Owl House itself is a gorgeous bedroom with views over the country park, I spent many hours watching the wildlife including deer, rabbits, pheasants, buzzards, not to mention hundreds of birds around the lake. The room has a lovely bathroom with heated floor and a huge bath with rain shower set in a granite surround, it’s a fantastic place to relax and recharge the batteries. Anna’s hospitality is totally superb, Anna exceeded expectations in every way. I will definitely return to this stunning venue, it’s a real treat. Thanks to Anna and Adrian for making me feel so welcome ✅

  • This house, and the hosts, were amazing! One of the most well equipped holiday houses we have stayed at, with some really thoughtful touches. It accommodated us (two small families) perfectly, even down to kids plates and cutlery and toys. The rooms and beds were spacious and comfortable. Andrea was very welcoming and it was so nice she offered our kids to meet the donkeys on Saturday morning! The house itself was perfectly located to day trip into York (about half an hour to Grimston Bar park and ride) or the Railway museum. Thank you so much, and we may well be back! Family Gorham (St Albans) and Family Miller (Leyland)

  • I can't praise enough about Andrea and Sally's place. We had an absolute wonderful time in the cottage. The house is so spacious and so well planned. All the rooms and bathrooms are so spacious and the kitchen and lounge is so huge. Even with a group of 7 people and 2 dogs, we had so much space in the house. They have so tastefully decorated the whole house. Sally was so lovely to welcome us to the house even though we arrived so late in the evening. And they had homemade lemon cake and prosecco for us and doggie treats. We couldn't have thought of a better reception. The garden is also quite big and we had a nice weather to sit outside and have coffee in the morning. The dogs could run around as it's completely secure. Andrea was also so kind to meet us the next morning and greet us. Each one of us just had an amazing time. We all wished we had few more days available to spend time in this lovely house. But I am sure we would be coming back soon :) Andrea and Sally are super hosts 5 stars to them :)

  • A huge and cozy home, especially the TV room and kitchen. We were amazed with the interior designs and decorations. The walls are nicely decorated with beautiful original paintings. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. It has a huge garden with nice table and chairs, complete with collapse-able umbrella. A barbecue set is also available. The house is clean and well-maintained. We were very excited when the 2 donkeys came and greeted us when we parked our car in front of the house. We really enjoyed our stay. Moor Farm Barn conversion is situated on a working sheep and pig farm. The barn adjoins our farmhouse but is completely self contained. All rooms are well equipped, spacious and light and airy. We are ideally located in rural countryside yet close enough to the local towns of Market Weighton and Pocklington which have a wide range of shops, services, pubs and other amenities. Grazing and stabling are also available if required for several horses with hacking on the Yorkshire Wolds.
Originally the building was used as pig housing and stables then disused for some years and subsequently it had fallen into a state of disrepair. It became a case of knock it down or invest in the future. We decided to do the latter and save the building whilst hoping to create comfortable living space for family and occasional guests! We have saved the original exposed beams, put in wooden flooring, double glazing and oil fired central heating. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, hob, extractor fan, fridge and dishwasher. There is also a microwave and separate freezer. A large antique farmhouse dining table can seat up to 18 when fully extended. There's even a three quarter size snooker table in the games/sitting room, a selection of board games and books, large screen TV and DVD player. Stereo system as well! The double bedroom has a king size bed and there's a twin room leading off it with two single beds. The modern bathroom has a large bath, WC and sink with a spacious separate shower cubicle. Please note that access to the bathroom from the twin room is via the double bedroom. There's also a WC off the utility room and ample room for muddy boots and coats. Outside there's a lawned garden area to the rear with a pub style picnic bench to sit and enjoy the views across the fruit orchard. There is a courtyard at the front with plenty of parking space. A charcoal barbeque is also available if required.
We are situated halfway between Shiptonthorpe and Londesborough, the latter being a historic and privately owned Estate village making it very popular with walkers, riders and cyclists. There are a variety of lovely walks through the park and beyond on the Wolds Way and Hudson Way with an abundance of wildlife from red kites to deer and countless bird species.
  • A wonderful place to stay to explore York and the surrounding areas. The house is really clean and comfortable and the views are lovely, especially of the orchard and the sheep! We would highly recommend Sarah’s place, she is a lovely host.

  • One of the best airbnb's we have stayed in. Our family of 4 recently spent a few nights in Sarah & Ollie's renovated barn. To say it is huge is an understatement. The room sizes are enormous and the vaulted style ceilings with original beams are beautiful. There is parking right in front of the house. There is a washing machine and space to hang your clothes to dry. The kitchen was fully equipped. There were extra towels for all of us. The dining area easily sat 8 but could have had plenty more guests. The yard was huge with fruit trees - even if it is shared with the owners' house that is attached to the barn. The pool table is full size, there were games and toys, the shower had excellent water pressure-- the best we experienced all summer, and the rooms were also comfortable for 2 kids and 2 adults. You do have to pass through the master from the kids' room to get to the bathroom and rest of the house. My girls loved the dogs that lived outside and we enjoyed meeting Sarah & Ollie. If back in that area we would return in a heartbeat.

A delightful country cottage style house on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, 1 mile from Pocklington, 10 miles from the historical city of York and 11 miles from the beautiful market town of Beverly with its majestic Minster and famous race course. Barmby Moor is a small village on a bus route to York and Beverley, has a delightful pub and is the centre for many local activities. The village has a church, babbling brook and a small village shop.
My beautiful Victorian style cottage has a modern urban style conservatory with dresser, couch and small TV, leading to a cosy kitchen with table and 4 chairs . The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, upright fridge/ freezer, gas oven/ hob, washing machine/tumble dryer and boiler cupboard. The sitting room with stairs leading to the 2 bedrooms has a rocking chair, large TV and a comfortable corner couch which easily pulls out to a 5ft 3rd bed. The staircase is lit by a full length stained glass window. The property has a brand new, modern wet room with rain forest shower, sink and toilet. The rear bedroom has a single bed with spare mattress underneath, built in wardrobe with spare duvet and pillows. The front double bedroom is light and airy and also has an en-suite toilet and sink.
The cottage is on a small modern estate on the eastern edge of the village. Located in a quiet cul de sac surrounded by open fields. The village is very close to Pocklington, the gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds. We highly recommend visiting the village of Millington with its tea room and pub. The wolds is a fantastic place for walkers and cyclists.
  • The Gateway is a stunning property, so homely and beautifully equipped and furnished. It honestly felt like home from home and Heather was an exceptional host, both helpful and very responsive.

  • Great communication before hand. Property was beautiful. Lots of cozy welcoming touches and although we were out and about nearly all the time if we had been staying longer I would have been quite happy staying in and cooking in the well stocked kitchen. So quite and peaceful too and the bed was most comfortable. A great find.

  • Gateway Cottage is a beautiful little oasis of peace and tranquillity in the pretty village of Barmby Moor. We stayed for 4 nights and all wish we could have stayed much longer. The cottage is beautifully decorated, fully equipped with all you need for a very comfortable stay, clean and tidy with many personal homely touches. The purpose of our stay was mainly to visit friends and family living in York but the cottage is perfectly placed to explore the Yorkshire coast, beautiful countryside and of course the city of York. Pocklington, the nearest town is only a few minutes drive and has all you need in the way of supermarkets, etc. Recommend the Park and Ride for York! Thank you so very much Heather - we will recommend Gateway Cottage to anyone planning a break in Yorkshire and we hope to return very soon!! Nancy & family

  • This was our stay at Emma's amazing house. We had the most relaxing time ever. The house was spotless, thoughtful touches of breakfast cereal, milk, teabags, coffee and biscuits. The children played in the games room, fed the chickens and ran free in the garden. It was a blissful stay and we hope to visit again next year. Thank you Emma!

  • Amazing stay in this gorgeous cottage. The place is vast! Everywhere was clean. Love the lamps everywhere! My girls loved the garden and they were out there for hours running around. Hot tub is a bonus. Very private and certainly very peaceful. Emma has thought of everything that you have forgotten!

    Emma2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The photographs just don't do this little piece of heaven justice. The cottage is extremely spacious, even with 9 people, we died not feel on top of each other. Emma was a perfect host. She was on hand if needed, but did not call in constantly. She left some super touches like welcome biscuits and cereals, beautiful toiletries and individually wrapped slippers for the hot tub. The cottage was immaculate and exceptionally comfortable. We travelled with a disabled adult and a boisterous 9 year old - all were catered for with the accessible features, stunning grounds, chickens and games rooms. We went for a festive break - felt so cosy with the wood burner and array of soft blankets. We definitely will book again. This place is a gem and Emma is a marvellous host.

  • Super family or friend group space in the quiet of being in the middle of “no-where” yet near the lovely town of Pocklington or city of York. The garden in the size of a small field and leads to a large wooded area. Ample parking for several vehicles as the house is down a short lane from the main road. Very clean throughout, large family kitchen, open plan dining and large lounge area, and a variety of bedrooms from single beds to double. Emma the host is very friendly and easy to communicate well with if any matters arise. The space can be one large communal space or selectively zoned off with clever use of doors within the space. We are already in the process of booking for next year !

    Julie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families with up to 3 children, friends and professionals working in York who’d like to get out of the City and breathe some country air.
Newly decorated light & airy bedroom in lovely rural village. If you're looking for a peaceful location but within easy reach of all amenities and the historic City of York then this is it. The room itself is double aspect with a lovely bay window and benefits from getting the late afternoon/early evening sun. It has a comfy double bed with room for a cot and/or floor mattress for children. There is fast WiFi available & a television in the room. We now have an extra room available just down the hall which can be made available on request for £35 a night. It has a comfortable double bed (or 2 singles) and is perfect for families that need extra space or friends that need 2 rooms. Both rooms share the same bathroom just down the hall. The bathroom is clean & functional but nothing too flash. It has sink, toilet, shower over the bath and water pressure is fine. There is a shared utility room in which guests can leave their shoes & coats. You are welcome to use the laundry facilities and we have instructions should you need them. In the utility we have a tea tray area so you can make your own tea/coffee. A continental style breakfast is provided if required & this will be left in the utility the night before. Please advise if you have any allergies. We have a lovely large garden which guests are welcome to go and find a quiet spot in should they wish. We have lots of deck chairs that can be used. If you're into cycling then we have secure bike lock available in our garage. Off street parking on our drive. The Yorkshire Wolds are 6 miles or so down the road with access to The Yorkshire Wolds Way for fabulous walking.
We love our friendly, peaceful village as we are close to amenities but far enough away to feel like we live in the countryside. We have a lovely canal, perfect for early morning/late afternoon walks and a good pub serving decent food. There is a village shop selling everyday basics together with decent made to order sandwiches, sausage rolls & pies. If you like the sound of birds singing in the morning & don't mind the occasional cockerel then you will find The Beeches a relaxing place.
  • A beautiful space, it was quiet and easy to reach. The pub along the road was also lovely. Would definitely stay again! Great for getting into the centre of York.
