  • Marks place is the real Bach experience. We loved the isolation and the space it provided. The kitchen area in particular was amazing. Its certainly somewhere to enjoy the Coromandel peninsula from.

  • This house is amazing, such a unique, rustic retreat in an unexpected location, not far from the amenities you need, but also totally secluded. The outdoor shower is to die for! Plenty of space to spread out. I highly recommend checking this spot out.

  • Great private accommodation. Great value and highly recommended

  • This is a truly back to nature experience. A very rustic cabin with great outdoor shower - it's easy to work and works well, and a compost toilet. If that's what you're into this is the place.

    Brian2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nice surroundings and earth building!

    Filipe2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very rustic accommodation. If you want TV, don't come, but if you are happy to curl up with a book (Mark has lots to choose from), have a glass of wine and feel if you are glamping in the bush, then do come.

  • Mark is a top host with a great place to stay. Felt like I was in Morocco with the clay-like walls and features. Very cool.

  • What a fantastic spot. It is pretty much exactly as described. Charming and rustic (right down to the outside composting loo- don't let it put you off), and secluded. We arrived quite late at night, but Mark kept and ear out for us and guided us down to the Pine House and settled us in. The Cabin is much better appointed than the listing lets on, with a fantastic kitchen space not shown in the photos, cook top, fridge freezer, everything you need, plus all cooking equipment you need to throw a respectable meal together. The hot water and shower were a bit temperamental, but persistence paid off, and the outdoor shower really is a treat. Mark provided plenty of fresh drinking water for us (drought at time of visit) The house was clean, tidy, and comfortable. Nice and close to town to travel around the local sights. Fantastic stay. Thank you.

A sunny guesthouse close to the bush, the beach, a waterfall and spring water pools. There is abundant bird life, and the air and water are clean and fresh. We are very close to a beautiful beach that is white sand and safe for swimming. We are within an eco village that is run solely on solar power and is a quiet and restful retreat space. A piece of paradise perfect for total relaxation.
The guesthouse has only recently been built so it is new and clean and a sunny restful place to stay in. It is decorated with my fabric art and the colors throughout are bright and cheerful. You can sit on the sunny deck and admire the bush views and watch the native birds fly by and listen to the sound of the fresh water stream that comes from the waterfall and runs through the property. The guesthouse is self contained with a detached composting toilet and a solar hot water shower.
We are very close to the beautiful Waikawau Bay which is a white sand safe swimming beach of absolute beauty. Colville is the nearest village (which is half an hours drive north of Coromandel town) and then 20 minutes to Karuna.
  • We had a 3-day stay at Barbel's place, and enjoyed it greatly. It is a lovely quiet location with a peaceful bush outlook. Lots of bird life, and a beach not too far away. We also had a number of meals prepared by Barbel which were delicious.

  • Our rental car was a ridulous bright green colour. It had more bucolic cred when we arrived having acquired a dusting, from the 9k of gravel roads, but it was all worth it to find the secluded nook. Baerbel welcomed us, explaing all the facilities and setting. Her wall hanging, shown in the listing, was given pride of place in the sitting area. The whole space is compact, but very functional, being well thought out, tastefully decorated with more of Baerbel's needlework and collected pieces. The wide deck is a great feature surrounded by native bush close with bird song sound track; great for relaxing or trying to match the song with the bird. There is a nice sandy beach nearby.

  • Barbel's place really is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature - you could spend hours, days, weeks admiring the view and wildlife.... As other people have mentioned, the roads all around are gravel but fine if you are confident/have a suitable vehicle. The eco-village itself was very welcoming and we loved hiking to the falls, a really special place. Be sure to get your food supplies before you arrive, as the nearest shop is around 30 mins drive away. Little bay beach is a beautiful spot 10/15 minutes drive and there are some great walks nearby too - Barbel is always happy to advise should you have any questions - her house is just next door. Thank you for a lovely rejuvenating stay!

  • A truly wonderful experience. Isolated but in a very positive way. the accommodation was super - stylish, clean and so lovely. Barbel is a warm and friendly host. I would love to go back!

    Annette2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Barbel’s place is a hidden gem in the Coromandel forest/jungle. Communication from start to finish has been excellent and Barbel was more than accommodating when we arrived. The drive to Barbel’s is absolutely stunning. The drive from Colville is all on a dirt track road. We rented a 4x4 so it was an easy task for us but I would imagine it would be more difficult for a small hatchback or big camper-van. Beach is only 5 minutes away and it’s literally paradise. We’d recommend going to the “Little Bay Beach” as there we plenty of overhanging trees to get some shade. We highly recommend Barbels AirBnb.

    Rhys2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Beetles wrote a song about the Long and winding road....it could have been about any road in NZ, but particularly the road to Waikawau. But, it was totally worth it! It did take nearly four hours with only a couple short stops from Auckland Airport (Google predicted three). Once there you could be a thousand miles from anywhere. Barbel's house is right next door, so while it's not remote, Barbel certainly was discreet and we only interacted when it suited, at which point she was great company. Definitely avail yourself of Barbel's cooking....unless you intend to self cater (which we did for breakfast and lunch).....the nearest alternative source of food is an hour away in Coromandel! And why wouldn't you plan to have dinner provided for you when you get back from a long walk or afternoon at the beach....home grown and home cooked - delicious. The place to go if you want peace and quiet without being totally isolated. Already looking forward to a return visit!

  • Barbel place is a unique piece of paradise. The little house is clean and tidy with marvellous artwork made by her. The surroundings are beautiful, so quiet and calm. There are a lot of good walking track and beach nearby. Barbel was a great host, she is very kind and heart warm. I can recommend this place to everybody.

  • Barbel warmly welcomes you to her world , her colourful home is vibrant and unique and she has created and special place for her guests. I loved Barbels garden and enjoyed her company her much ... she spoilt us making a delicious Thia curry and German plum cake which we devoured sitting outdoors with our son and his girlfriend... we found plums were left out for us and Barbel made us special coffee.. she is so easy to be around and sparkles a vitality for life . Compost toilets are part of staying there and are managed well . Living there has its challenges and we respect the gentle guidance we were given around water consumption and keeping that environment special .. our thanks Monica Martin and Claire x

We also have about 6 communes still functioning with 1 still offering woofing for travelers who want to work for accomodation. Sheep and beef farming is also popular in Colville with lots of generations of family farms still running. Colville is becoming very popular destination, to just get away from it all, with a range of outdoor activities available
  • The Dutchman Inn is a beautiful, rustic, off grid hideaway which is ideally located for an adventure holiday on the Coromandel Peninsula. We stayed 5 nights and would not hesitate to return when in the area again.

  • If you are looking to just straight kick back and enjoy being in the serenity of nature then this is your place. The property the cabin is on is just wonderful, and if you are reading the other reviews and see the one that getting to the cabin was impossible then just ignore that. The only reason you could have trouble getting there is if you were driving a Lamborghini, which if you were You are probably not staying here hah. Water levels were low so we did have some electrical issues but sorted them out in the end.

  • Such an amazing off the grid place to stay. Gorgeous location and setting and wonderful walks along g the river.

  • Spent 7 days here with our two kids (3 & 5) and dog. Pretty incredible spot surrounded by Bush and with a beautiful clear river running right past the cabins it was a lot of fun to go exploring.

  • This place was just so perfect for us!! We stayed 5 nights (2 adults and boys aged 6&10), we loved the cabin so much, boys had fun in the woods and we enjoyed all of the walks and activities like horse trekking and swimming in the river. One thing I really appreciated was how accurate the listing was and how much detail Belinda had gone to with notices in the cabin etc. we had rain one day but that didn’t stop our fun, we will definitely come back!!

    Kathryn2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Best relaxation place, nature around, creek around, nice walks along the creek to the falls, horseback riding very nice and organised. Recommended!

Lie in the bed and wake up to the view out over our park like grounds in Kikowhakarere Bay, our Lithuanian Pods are an affordable option. This is for a standard version with a built in double bed (not ideal for TALL people!) You have your own balcony to relax in the sun, and listen to the native birds around our Holiday park. Only a short stroll to Shelly Beach from your deck where you can swim at high tide or at low tide do the Kauri Tree walk. Then see the amazing sunsets
Use of communal facilities: kitchen, toilets, showers and washing machines ($4 per wash/dry) a few minutes walk away from your private pod.
Our beachside location is only a 5-minutes drive north of Coromandel’s township which has great cafes, restaurants and shops.
  • Absolutely loved this Airbnb and have already recommended to friends visiting the area! I was a bit apprehensive about the size of the bed beforehand as my partner is 6”5 but we were both able to sleep very comfortably. The location is fabulous as it is right on the beach and the sunset was stunning. The cottage was spotless and there were some lovely touches as well as a TV and fridge. We really regretted not staying another night. Can’t recommend this spot enough!

  • Amazing location, super clean, and the private beach is right outside the door! This pod was INCREDIBLE we wish we could have stayed for a whole week! The shared bathroom area was super clean, but the pod was better than we even imagined. Plenty of space and super cozy. 100% recommend.

    Aissa Oliva2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for a weekend of R & R. The decking, native forest and babbling stream make for a very tranquil space. Fencing and solid gates make it secure and safe. Julie and BG have taken kiwi ingenuity and added class. The bathroom far exceeded my expectations. I particularly loved having the radio, and watching the kereru falling out of the puriri tree. Thank you for a genuine, welcoming, super comfortable and restful stay.

    Melody2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Julie's little garden shed was perfect! Everything you need as a traveler. In the middle of nature, priceless! We quickly made friends with the camping toilet. Really great to have your own bathroom right next door!

    Pia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Quite different to what we usually stay in but nevertheless had a great stay. Studio was exceptionally clean, tidy eith a very comfy bed. As mentioned shower and toilet are right next door and toilet is 'camping style', I believe. This, however, is not an issue as it is very clean, does not smell and is emptied from outside every day. It's a reasonably easy stroll into the town centre (about 2 kms) and there are some nice restaurants in town.

    Shirley2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Barry's Cabin was a lovely place to chill and enjoy the Coromandel. They have us some excellent local tips on what to do in the area. The place was clean, communication was clear and quick when we had any extra things to discuss. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Carl2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Was a happy stay, place very clean and as advertised. Would happily stay again. So long as you appreciate that it is 'glamping' then I think you can be happy with what you get.

The beautiful views and quiet location.

  • Karen and Mac are very attentive hosts. The house is very clean and comfortable, with added extras of a delicious breakfast and a very well appointed covered outdoor cooking and seating area. The view is truely spectacular and you have access to a very special little beach just moments away where we enjoyed a wonderful swim. Thanks very much for a really lovely stay!

  • Awesome location with very friendly hosts. Highly recommend this place to stay.

    Jill2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely spot! The outdoor common areas included a full outdoor kitchen, swimming pool, and multiple seating areas situated in such a way as to take advantage of views, shade, breeze and sunshine. The bed was moderately comfortable, and the bedroom had a door that opened directly onto the patio. My only (very minor) constructive feedback is that the windows do not have screens, so the mosquitos and flys can get in.

    Kyla2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, great views, spend a lot of time outside enjoying the view and sunsets as we were lucky with the weather. Local, seasonal fruits was really nice. Sink in the bathroom was a bit too small. Need insect repellent , if want to stay outside after the sunset.

    Diana2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

A truly beautiful, peaceful and relaxing setting where you'll hear the occasional toot of the famous Driving Creek Railway close by. Also just opened is an 8 stage zip line (flying fox), an attraction part of the DC Railway.
Kanuka bush cabin is located approximately 3 kilometres north of Coromandel township. It is nestled in beautiful native bush and is only 2 minutes walk to the famous Driving Creek Rail way. Also just opened up is an 8 stage zip line (flying fox), an attraction part of the DC Railway. If it's beaches you prefer you will find one of many 5 to 10 minutes away or an ocean beach 30 minutes drive. There is also plenty of parking for the boat and vehicles with boat ramps just down the road. Our newly renovated cabin offers one bedroom with queen size bed and a lounge with a day bed either opening out into a king size bed or into 2 singles. It has lots of decking, both covered or under a shade sail for you to relax and listen to the chorus of tuis.
It is a very peaceful neighbourhood apart from the tui's and pigeons darting through the bush.
  • Really lovely place to stay. Everything as promised - even a little more.

  • Lesley is a lovely host. The cabin is very cute and surrounded by nature. We loved the delicious breakfast, especially the home made granola. Everything was perfect.

  • Lesleys cabin is a great stay. Very close to the Driving Creek Railway which is amazing. Around 3km to town. The cabin is spacious, clean and tidy, the interior is great. We really liked the style and color mix. The provided breakfast is plenty and delicious. We would stay again!

    Susanne2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • It is better than the photos! Close to the train, but feels as if you are alone in the bush. Nice bathroom, good bbq, comfy beds. And everything very clean. The homemade granola was delicious. Would recommend it!

    Renee2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space to retreat to after a day exploring the area. The cabin had been renovated with attention to detail & comfort. The perfect way to start our trip around NZ.

    Michelle2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really had a wonderful stay at the cabin. The surroundings, decor and facilities were just perfect. The photos don't quite do it justice. The bed is so cosy, slept wonderfully. We had a baby in tow and was great. Plenty of space for the cot, safe spaces to roll around, microwave sterilising and plenty of plants and trees to say "hello" too! The bread and coffee were a very welcome surprise and the homemade granola was a real treat. The location is great, private and secluded yet walking distance to the driving creek railway which is a must see, but also close to coromandel town. The host Lesley is very nice and helpful. We must commend her as she let us know about a forgotten item which we came back for. Just outside the door, are bush and scenic walks, waterfalls, horsetrekking, swimming in the creek and healing/tasty Manuka honey for sale. It's only 2-10 mins drive away from the beach, cafes, general store, farm store, art & craft shops, medical centre, library and tennis courts. There's plenty of outdoors space (1260ha of it) ... My house has lots of character and comfort and is great for pets; friends, family and club get-togethers (4 other houses are available on the farm for accommo too)
Our older but comfy 4 bedroom home is cool in summer but cosy warm in winter especially with the woodstove going. 2 bedrooms are inside the house and there are 2 bedrooms adjoining the bathroom which is across the metre-wide verandah from the kitchen. When there are more than 4 people staying, the other bathroom will be available to use. It's about 10 metres around the outside of the house There's no deck but the BBQ table on the lawn outside is perfect for cooking on the BBQ, supping a wine or two and stargazing at night (no light pollution here !!) Or during the day it's neat to see the Hereford cattle grazing on the paddocks with the mountains in the background.
  • The Palm Tree Cottage is a wonderful base from which to explore the Coromandel Peninsula. The beauty never ends. We enjoyed the farm and horse ride.

  • Beautiful cottage in the middle of stunning hillsides and beaches with the best walks, fresh air and tasty water from the stream. We had the time of our lives here - 3 kids on tow, they just ran out to the fields when we arrived and played out there from morning to night. Book this place, Nicky will look after you. It's super cozy - free firewood, everything works, lots of space, what more could you want for your family?

Self-contained studio at Driving Creek, on the outskirts of Coromandel Town. Perfect for two people with its comfy queen-sized bed, it also has a sofa bed for two children or another adult. There is a small kitchen area with microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer, electric wok and toasted sandwich maker. The shower room with toilet is for your exclusive use. The studio has a barbecue and outdoor seating area with views of the orchard, paddocks and Coromandel Ranges.
We share our home at Driving Creek with Millie, our lovely and very friendly old dog, plus kune kune pigs Ruby and Alice, and six free range chickens - Ginger, Bunty, Babs, Claudette, Marie-France and Michelle. All of our animals are super friendly and inquisitive - once met never forgotten!
We are right across the road from the famous Driving Creek Railway and Pottery, founded by celebrated New Zealand potter Barry Brickell, and definitely worth a visit. The new zip-line is a fantastic attraction - a tree top view of the gorgeous Coromandel (and our house!)
  • Chris and Heather's place was very cosy and had a peaceful rural feel despite being close to town. We would definitely recommend it.

Private, quiet & relaxed country cabin for one guest or couples, a great alternative to a tent. Coromandel Town is a short drive away for your shopping needs, restaurants, and pubs. Close to boat ramp and beaches. 230 volt power for appliances.
We offer a small but cozy little cabin for couples to relax and enjoy their country surroundings. There is a very comfortable queen size bed with linen supplied. Table and chairs. Kitchenette with crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. The cabin has a microwave & a small fridge to keep your milk, butter etc cold. A separate little cabin has a hot shower, hand basin and a chemical cassette toilet. The Cabin is located up a quiet little road, on our 3 acre lifestyle block. We have about 15 coloured sheep, (lambs in the spring time), a couple of miniature horses and two resident cats - who will more than likely pay you a visit. This is a great place to make your base while you explore the scenery and fabulous activities the Coromandel has to offer.
There are a number of walking tracks around Coromandel Town & the surrounding area, for those that like to get out and about and enjoy nature. These walking tracks vary from easy paced to more strenuous for the more seasoned hikers. All the tracks are well maintained and are very scenic, taking in some beautiful coastal views, Kauri Trees & native bush. Driving Creek Railway, one of Coromandel's biggest tourist attractions, is just a 10 minute walk away. Wind your way up through the native forest on a narrow gauge mountain railway to the 'Eyeful Tower', a viewing platform overlooking Coromandel Town and beyond.
  • Great lodging, great hosts and lovely time with their sheep and horses. I definitely recommend it!

    John2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing Air Bnb! My girlfriend and I 100% recommend. Private little house in the middle of the Sheeps and horses. Perfectly clean. Alan and Donna are the best hosts you could have

    Vincent2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful welcome at Donna and Alan's, including a refreshing beer and a glass of bubbly! A real treat to finish off our New Zealand holiday. Everything was clean and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the plentiful reading material about local sights, and the welcome by the local sheep and pony residents. A great, quiet location. Alan showed us around in his car and made us feel at home immediately. The Ballart Farm is a perfect base from which to explore Coromandel, and the wonderful beaches and walks on the Peninsula are in easy reach. The heartfelt farewell showed again what wonderful hosts we had - thank you! Maybe see you next year, Ute and Lutz

  • This is an absolute gem of an Airbnb and probably the best overall experience I’ve ever had with one. Alan and Donna are brilliant and couldn’t have been more hospitable, friendly and great to talk to. Their place is so well equipped and the bed is really comfortable. We loved the company of the sheep and ponies and can’t fault a thing about our stay here. Highly recommended if you’re in Coromandel!

    Tom2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a gorgeous little tiny “farm” house. The sheep are right at your doorstep in front of the tiny house offering entertainment throughout the day and love plenty of pats. The location is just gorgeous, only a short drive to Coromandel township & an idyllic outlook welcomes you each morning & evening from bed. Lots to do around the area or just relax on the deck and take in the gorgeous countryside. Donna & Alan were lovey hosts who were so welcoming. We will be back!

Award winning private hideaway inside Waiaro Sanctuary. Pristine native forest, untouched streams and all the privacy and peace you could want Outdoor bath with amazing view, hammocks beneath the trees.
Waiaro won 2015 "Best Eco" in local award for holiday rental "bach" in NZ. The bush in the area is in great condition and is bordered by the Coromandel Forest Park, and you can walk from the door right to the summit of Moehau if you are intrepid. But the best wildlife and forest is near the streams within Waiaro Sanctuary itself so if you just walk up the two stream beds it is a nice explore and easy to find your way there and back. The two streams have quite different characters. Actually you can see a lot by lying in the hammock and letting it come to you, or sitting on the deck with a cold glass and the binoculars. The tracks in the bush are marked for trapping of predators but can be tough for novices to find and follow, so if you go wandering you need to navigate yourself. Sticking to a ridgeline is a good policy as you can always go back. Kiwi live at Waiaro and you may hear them at night but you wont see them. The bush is too thick and we no longer have them tracked as we have decided they do best with least interference. We have just completed audio monitoring so have fingers crossed that they are still increasing. You have 200 acres of bush to wander around without crossing a boundary, and when you do you won't see a fence anyway.
Upper Coromandel Peninsula is spectacular. The drive up the coast from Thames to Waiaro is the best in NZ (I reckon) and once you get there you will find yourself able to enjoy real NZ.
  • Matthew’s house was simply what we needed. Every element of the stay was wonderful. The location allowed us to escape and recharge. Would highly recommend.

    Hollie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, amazing private location with beautiful, very spacious and open grass parkland all around the front of the house and massive two tier deck, with unbeatable bush views all round and everything you need inside the comfortable well equipped house to enjoy the paradise all around you. If you like NZ forest and birds and being in your own private universe you're going to love it. Highly recommended!

    Nessim2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This bach is in a wonderful setting, is very comfortable and being “off grid” you get a real feeling of remoteness. The dawn chorus is beautiful and it is a credit to the owners that they manage this as a kiwi protection zone by controlling introduced predators. We look forward to returning to Waiaro in the future.

  • Beautiful place to wind down for a few days. Beds comfortable and kitchen well stocked with candles, matches, sauces, toilet paper etc. Gorgeous view of Moehau mountain and could clearly hear kiwi at night.

    Brett2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is good equipped and located in an amazing nature, absolutely off the beaten track and very quiet. The only bad thing, was the strong wind we had during our stay, it stopped when we had to leave... Matthew was always good reachable, and quick with answering when we had a questio

She also gave us lots of ideas and recommendations for places to visit in the area and was happy for us to join her, would love to stay with you again!

  • Rosamond's place was really nice, at a very convinient location with a beautiful view from the balcony where we could have our breakfast. More than the place, Rosamonde 's hospitality was probably the best I had seen in an airbnb, providing breakfast and tea/coffee, being available for a chat and offering us to show us some closeby walks. All of this while totally respecting our privacy. Really nice place and host :)

    Romane2020-03-12T00:00:00Z

Don't let the lack of reviews keep you from looking into this place. It's new to Airbnb and Roz travels as well so it hasn't been available as much as others you may see. But trust, this is an awesome place to stay!!

Rosamonde has a lot of nice experiences to share and it was very good to have a good conversation with her about that. Also, good breakfast to energize you for the rest of the day. Really recommend her!

    The Coromandel, Waikato, New Zealand

Our cosy holiday retreat is a short walk away (15-20 minutes) from Coromandel's quaint Main Street eateries, shops and bars. With a large deck and open plan lounge/diner, it's the perfect place to relax and use as a base to explore beautiful Coromandel peninsula or just chill!
Our home is a cute little rustic cottage, filled with things we have collected during our own travels. It's cosy and warm, well loved and full of character. It's certainly not a 5 star hotel but it's a great place to relax and unwind.
There is a very artistic vibe in Coromandel, evident in the cute shops and galleries in town. Our lane is pretty quiet with lovely friendly neighbours.
  • Highly recommend. Allan’s place very fantastic for my family that have everything you need and can feel you stay like your home.

  • Allan’s place is a very handy drive to Coromandel town and for sightseeing the Coromandel coast. He has a very good covered outdoor area which we enjoyed during the day and evening. Lights and candles a nice touch! There is plenty of room to park your car and bikes too. Inside the house is cosy and had everything you need. It’s good having 3 bedrooms too.

    Natalie2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great service, awesome communication and their place was excellent. Everything was as advertised and they even let us start our trip early at very short notice, very much appreciated as we needed more time to fit everything in. Highly recommended Allan and Karen's place.

A cosy apartment with amazing island views, perfect for couples exploring the Coromandel Peninsula. Open-plan living area with a double bed, lounge, kitchenette and bathroom. Walk down the hill to a secluded safe swimming beach. Use our kayaks and SUPs (stand-up paddle boards) for free! Coromandel Town is just 15 minutes away. The apartment is on the second floor of an A-frame chalet. A separate studio is below.
  • I absolutely LOVED staying here. Came for a get away from the city trip. You can lie in bed or chill on the balcony and watch the sun set of the ocean, it's unreal! I wasn't joined by anyway during my afternoon spent at the secluded beach, which was so beautiful itself. Easy to drive for a day trip the the east coast. The accomodation was simple and all you need.

    Anna2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was very uncomplicated and worked out just fine. Fantastic view!!! You‘ll enjoy it.

Bronnie was a fantastic host and a great help. Whether you’re exploring the wonderful coromandel town region or looking for a quiet break from the city, we highly recommend staying here!

Our home was built nearly 30 years ago and is our sanctuary, with the most stunning scenery and environment we are now ready to share. Stay "downstairs" in our home, which is a complete self contained apartment. Portacot available, not safe for children between 1 and 5. Stairs and firebox.
Farmland and native bush surround our home. Its very quiet with great views of the off shore islands and coastline.
Coromandel is a very popular summer time destination for many. We have no neighbours just great views, peace and quiet.
  • Sharon and Kerry were delightful hosts, very thoughtful and informative. Wonderful people!

    Samantha2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Location is perfect for the Coromandel Coastal walk with amazing views. Kitchen has everything needed to cook all meals. Internet great for my wife to work. Sharon is a great host who also sells what so far seems like pretty good Manuka Salve for wound healing!

    Wayne2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon is a wonderful host. She was very welcoming and helpful. The view is incredible – those sunsets and the stars at night were unforgettable. The accommodation is spacious and quiet. A very relaxing place.

  • We stayed 3 nights and everything was perfect! The house is located in a perfect spot up on a hill in the middle of nature. There is a whirlpool we could use. And every morning we enjoyed the stunning view to the ocean from the bed. The kitchen is well equipped and on chilly nights there is an oven to heat the place up. Sharon and Kerry are so nice and welcoming! They are always there if you need help or have questions. And they have a super cute puppy! :) Sharon even invited us to watch the rugby semi finals together. Thanks for the wonderful time!!!

Kakariki is one of four A-frame chalets with extensive island views. It has a large deck to relax and watch spectacular sunsets. Walk down the hill to a secluded safe swimming beach. Ground floor: fully-equipped kitchen for catering, open plan dining and living, large deck and bathroom. Upstairs: two bedrooms. Great for couples, families (with kids). Large groups could rent a number of chalets . Use our kayaks and SUPs (stand-up paddle boards) for free!
Nearby attractions and experiences include the world class Coromandel Coastal Walkway, fishing charters resulting in a mighty haul of snapper or kingfish, a climb to Castle Rock for commanding views over the entire peninsula, waterfalls, kauri groves, isolated beaches, water sports of every kind, horse treks and much more.
  • The Chalets are incredible, super clean, views to die for and a short walk to a private little bay where my son had fun skipping stones and swimming, and a great place to take your dog.. The deck is amazing, super sunny in daytime with loungers, and great for sunsets and star gazing at night. A nice surprise to find a bottle of bubbles in the fridge on arrival. Jo was a very friendly and helpful host, close by for any queries. I even heard kiwi calls at night for the first time ever! There is a campsite store just a 3 minute walk away too. We had fun picking DVDs and games from the games shed. You probably should be aware that there is not a full sized fridge/freezer, just a bar fridge with a freezer box.... and with supermarkets a while away there is not much space to store meat / veggies etc for an extended stay. But we made it work. The queen bed is also the softest & bounciest i've ever slept in, not really suitable for 2 people if you are light sleepers, however this is a matter of preference. It could also do with a fan for the hot weather. ....Overall we loved our stay, and we would definitely be keen to come back!

  • It was a great spot. Bronnie was really helpful and made sure it was nice and warm for our late arrival on a cold night. The shower didn't have much pressure but otherwise a great place for the weekend.

  • The hosts Diane and Lionel were incredible warm and kind. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Due to our jetlag the fifth bed in the kitchen was a perfect extra bed for the ones who get awake in the night. Most of all we loved the garden with the little river. A great place to stay.

The cottage is well equipped and the spa pool is sublime - just note there is a 10pm curfew for the spa pool. We went in winter and it was very relaxing and enjoyable, highly recommend for anyone who needs to relax!

  • When we arrived at the cabin for the very first time we felt a teeny tiny tinge of disappointment. But we quickly realused why we had booked this fabulous place. Sitting out on the deck watching the sunset over the bay. Walking down a very short way to what felt like our private beach. Beautiful swimming in the still water (when we were there anyway!). And the added bonus of two kayaks and two stand up paddle boards! to use. Thank you Bronnie, you are a terrific host and thanks for a fabulous time at your lovely place.

Haven is a stand alone open plan one bedroom cabin with a queen bed and a single bunk above. It sleeps a total of 3 guests but a bit of Hush honesty... we think they are best suited for couples. Haven has a private, clean and modern bathroom with a separate toilet and shower, just a short walk along the boardwalk. Haven has it's own breakfast nook nestled in a bay window, with a private view over the garden. Guests are welcome to use the Hush Alfresco kitchen.
Each Hush Studio has been designed with simplistic comfort in mind. The cosy meals nook is the perfect spot to eat your meal or simply sit and pass the time gazing out the window. Throw open the french doors and let the outdoors in and you will truly feel at one with nature. The sounds of the Tui bird and the whoosh of the Wood Pigeons in the trees are plentiful.
Pop up the road or down the road and you will reach beaches, bush walks and the cute town full of good browsing shops and great cafes. A bit of a bonus is having Driving Creek Railway and Pottery as our neighbor.
  • It’s a lovely tranquil place to get away, great facilities and really have thought of everything (even mosquito spray in the room). The room is very private. definitely recommend

  • This place is amazing. A clean but ourdoorsy space. The haven cabin was perfect for two of us. We cooked in because the outdoor kitchen space was so neat and well stocked we got to have a tasty meal while chatting with some locals from another cabin. Marilyn also gave us great travel tips for our next destination. Would highly recommend this nature getaway!

  • Great experience all round - location, views, hosts, beach, apartment. There’s a washing machine, BBQ and a very well equipped kitchen. Lovely bathroom too. Very comfortable bed (and pillows!).

  • This is an amazing place overlooking a beautiful beach! Janet and John are great hosts and fish and chips on the beach at sunset not to be missed!

    Joseph2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful secluded spot, sparkling clean, high quality interior, lovely and very accommodating host. Home away from home.

    Toby2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to go and chill in the Coromandel. Easy to get about from the house but you can just as easily chill in the organic garden.

    Nicholas2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is really a stunning property set in lush gardens close to Coromandel. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and cosy and the kitchen is fully equipped to cook anything. We had a wonderful time there with our little one and our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer. The owner lives next door and was extremely helpful. All in all, one of the best AirBnB stays we have had!

    Nicolas2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic, bueatiful, clean and very relaxing place. The hospitality was really great. Highly recommended.

    Andy2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Some of the most lovely and cared for gardens we have ever enjoyed. The house is spacious, comfortable and relaxing with every amenity thought of.

    Mark2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Diane was an exemplary hostess who had thought of every detail to give her guests a relaxed, comfortable and generally chilled out stay. The highlight for me was wandering around the beautiful gardens with Diane, and picking vegetables for our supper. The ecolodge is a magical place which we loved staying in, it was in a perfect location for us to explore the wonderful Coromandel peninsula. Thank you Vicky

  • Hard to build on the exceptional reviews already, to be honest. The location was perfect, hospitality wonderful and we were made to feel exceptionally welcome (including the dog). Cannot wait to book a return visit soon. Thanks for having us.

Lovely 2-bedroom cottage with double bed and two twin beds; a quiet getaway in a scenic, secluded setting, a 3.5-kilometre stroll from town centre. Enjoy your morning coffee surrounded by beautiful gardens, listening to the birdsong of native New Zealand Tui and Bellbirds. Relax in the morning or afternoon sun and experience glorious sunsets from the deck with wonderful views of the Coromandel Harbour and bush-clad Coromandel hills.
Throw open the sliding doors and enjoy this truly indoor outdoor house. Enjoy your meals al fresco on either of the expansive decks or in the courtyard patio. The kitchen windows fold back for wonderful views and provide a convenient pass-through for meals. Your choice of deck and your choice of view: Coromandel Harbour to the west and the Coromandel hills to the north. Depending upon the week, sheep may be found grazing in the adjacent paddock. Kereru, the native New Zealand pigeon, can be found perched on the native yellow-flowering Kowhai trees near the cottage. The Kereru is a large bird with iridescent green and bronze feathers on its head and back and a smart white vest. The noisy beat of its feathers is a distinctive sound in our forests (bush). Traditionally hunted by Maori for its meat and feathers, hunting of the bird is now illegal. In the winter, snuggle under fluffy duvets and premium sheets. Dual-control electric blankets (aka electric mattress pads) make the beds toasty warm. Electric towel warmers can be found in both of the bathrooms. The well-equipped kitchen, stocked with a variety of oils and spices, coffee and teas, make cooking a special meal a pleasure. In season, help yourself to fresh herbs from the garden and fresh fruit from the orchard. There are Award-Winning restaurants and cafes in town for those who prefer to experience the local fare. World-reknowned local green-lipped mussels and oysters are widely available.
Coromandel has a well known arts community with many local potters, painters, weavers, fabric artists, woodworkers and glassblowers, many with open studios. Kereru Cottage has the work of many Kiwi artists on display. The Source, an artists' cooperative, the Weka Gallery and Driving Creek Railway and Potteries feature pieces by local artists. There are Open Studio Arts Tour Weekends in the Spring or Autumn. Gold was first discovered in New Zealand in 1852 in nearby Driving Creek, and the School of Mines Museum and Gold Stamper Battery provide local history. Hiking tracks through the native bush are within walking distance of the cottage. The beautiful white sand beaches of Whangapoua, New Chums and Matarangi are a short drive. For more immersion in the local community, join up with the local art groups, embroiderers, walking groups or many other organizations that meet weekly. The local iSITE (Information Centre) and monthly Coromandel Town Chronicle have more specific information. For the fishermen, ride the local mussel barge on a charter to fish at the mussel beds or take a charter to deeper waters in the gulf.
  • We loved the awesome view from the house and being so close to nature. We also enjoyed the walk to the forest which was just in front of the house. We had a lovely stay!

  • Amazing cottage! If you have a chance to stay here please do! Mary is an amazing host and the grounds are truly an experience... the views and total outside environment are so enjoyable. The house was spotless and in an awesome location!

    Vicki2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures truly don’t do justice to how beautiful this property is & how breathtaking the views are!! Enjoyed dinner on the deck overlooking the sunset every night. Woke to the sounds of singing birds, rooster calls & majestic views from the master bedroom. Cottage was well equipped & full of thoughtful touches. A definite slice of heaven. Note: if you suffer from pet allergies, please be mindful of a friendly cat on property.

  • Loved our stay. The view, the gardens, the deck, the crazy comfy beds, the quiet surrounds, everything about it was perfect - thanks Mary Pat!!

    Clare2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place! Beautiful gardens and loves listening to the birds, sheep next door and enjoying all of the amenities of this spotless and well-appointed cottage in the country.

    Donna2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Mary Pat’s cottage. It was even better than in the photos. The place is clean and spacious, and the outdoor space is absolutely incredible. We enjoyed having neighbouring sheep, and looking out over the fields from the big kitchen window. The kitchen itself was well-equipped and a pleasure to cook in. It was hot outside while we were there, so we slept with windows open, and got a bit eaten by local insects (that we didn’t notice at any other time). I’d make sure to bring some kind of insect repellant next time. The town of Coromandel is nearby, and very charming. The peninsula is beautiful, and there are plenty of spots to road trip and discover down its winding roads. We only stayed two nights, but I wish it was longer. Would definitely stay again.

    Jessica2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible spot to stay. Conveniently close to the town but far enough removed to feel secluded. The garden is a gorgeous space to relax in and the wrap around deck was luxurious and a lovely place to eat The kitchen has everything you could ever need.

  • Mary Pat’s house is absolutely delightful. The garden is gorgeous and there are many places to sit and enjoy the beautiful views. The house is very comfortable and perfectly stocked ( including many kitchen supplies). I would highly recommend staying here, as a matter of fact we hope to one day return and stay for a month!
