Ronald and Dzidra were lovely hosts who clearly took extra steps for us to have an enjoyable stay, such as setting the stage with mood music upon arrival and providing lots of helpful tips for dining and entertainment in the surrounding area. The locale is quiet and fairly secluded, yet minutes from the beach and downtown Clyde, and only a short drive to Napier or Hastings.

We were looking forward to this stop after reading the many positive reviews but found the property to be very primitive and badly maintained with no air conditioning and no fan provided. Very basic amenities and the cooker and barbecue were filthy. We moved on after one night as it was not to our liking. The location was fine.

My partner, friend and I stayed at River Cottage and Sue & Mark were fantastic hosts. Their place is an absolute gem - it's very well located for Napier and the surrounding areas, plus the garden is such a beautiful space to relax in! We spent some time on our last night enjoying sitting outside and stargazing. They even have bikes you can rent for $15/day if you fancy exploring by bike, unfortunately the weather was not on our side so we didn't have a chance to use them, but if the weather had been good we most certainly would have. If you want to see the Hawke's Bay region in all it's glory, look no further than the River Cottage for your home away from home. The garden setting makes for perfect R&R after a long day of exploration, whether hiking, biking or wine tasting. Sue and Mark are as hospitable as it gets. Bonus tip: try Halfway House takeaway right down the street for the most incredibly fresh fish & chips!

This spot is perfectly located for exploring the Napier/Hastings area. Easy access to both cities and surrounding areas but a quiet place to rest your head at night. The outdoor area is beautifully landscaped and we loved the outdoor fireplace in the evening. Sue and her husband were very friendly and helpful.

A great cottage which is well located to visit Hawkes Bay. Furnishings are modern and we slept very well in the comfortable beds. We really wanted to try the outdoor fireplace but never got around to. We did noticed that Sue had loaded it and it was just ready to be ignited! Wifi worked well. Overall we highly recommend the cottage!

What a treasure this place is. Backing onto the river/bike trail it is set in a beautiful native garden with interesting antique implements and metal sculptures. But at night it really comes alive with subtle lighting. Don't miss the luxury of an outdoor bath under the stars framed by beautiful trees. Inside its very tastefully decorated with a very comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. Mark and Sue are wonderful hosts. We had a fantastic stay here.

This was our second visit to River Cottage. Once again, we enjoyed our stay in this delightful, clean, private, up to date cottage which is so central for activities in Hawke Bay.

We were lucky enough to be Corinna and Daves first Airbnb guests and what a lovely couple they are. They welcome you into their beautiful home like long lost freinds but also respect your need for privacy. The location was perfect for us, not far from Napier or Hastings with the bonus of the beach nearby plus a few shops if needed. We wish them well in their new venture and will definitely stay again in the future. Also not to forget people loving Paris the dog...very cute

Charles is an excellent host and the house is charming - which is not a euphemism for primitive - all the mod-cons are fully functional in a fascinating old house Recommend!

We appreciated the prompt response from the host and accommodating us at such a late notice. The chalet was ideal for our family. The children really enjoyed the swing and ample outdoor space and foraging for walnuts to crack open and eat on the spot. The animals were also an extra bonus.

This little gem is nestled in the Napier/Hastings/havelock vicinity and ideally situated to explore the wineries, beaches, shops and restaurant of the area. If you are lucky enough to spend time with your hosts you will understand why this place is so popular and why, when you open the front door, that you feel welcomed and very comfortable. There is ample seating, inside and out and lovely comfortable beds and linen. This place is special and very accommodating, whatever your reason for visiting the area.

Highly recommend the cottage. Set in a beautiful location surrounded by flowers and space and the use of a pool, as well as close to both Havelock North & all the vineyards. The cottage itself was lovely, spacious rooms, fresh linen, lovely patio area. Julia was also very helpful and prompt. We are already planning to visit again!

Hawkesbury Cottages offered exactly what we needed and more. The cottage's location and decor scream "elegant countryside", while having all the modern amenities needed for a relaxing stay in the heart of Hawkes Bay. Close to wineries, orchards, restaurants and a quick drive to downtown Hastings and Haveloc North, and 15 min drive to Napier- we were able to do it all and still come "home" for a relaxing evening. Our little guy is 17 months, so we are normally stuck in a hotel room from 7pm on- but the spacious cottage with gorgeous outdoor space allowed us to enjoy ourselves past 7pm! Something I think many parents will appreciate! We plan on coming back to HB soon and would not consider staying anywhere else! Thank you to Julia and Hamish for opening up their gorgeous home to us!

Such a lovely spot to just relax or use as a base to explore the Bay. Close to wineries and farmers markets. The pool is an excellent feature and the hosts couldn't me more accomodating or respectful of our space whilst there. Our second time there and we're likely to return!

The location is fantastic, right next to Hawke's Bay, with views from most of the rooms. Helen provided some food to get us started, which was a real bonus after a day's drive. The house is clean and nicely decorated and stocked with everything you need. If consistent wi-fi is important to you, this might not be your place. Some in our group needed to check in with work, and the wi-fi did not always work.

Wonderful stay at a gorgeous home! our host Helen couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating! We are so grateful to Helen for all of her help, great communication and kind efforts. It was so nice to come home to freshly made beds, awesome kitchen supplies and even fresh fruit! We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the neighbourhood as well. Our first air Bnb experience couldn't have been smoother and feeding the local eels was a cool experience :) next time I am in the area I will certainly stay again! Beautiful location with spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Helen greeted us warmly and explained everything clearly, great pantry with everything needed for first breakfast which was very much appreciated. My adult children enjoyed feeding the eels and the ducks and interacting with the cats. Beach very stony and hard to walk on without shoes also swimming great once you are in with feet off the seabed not particularly suitable for young children. We were a family group of 5 adults there for a wedding, Helen's home has an open plan living area which worked well. Only 1 bathroom and toilet was the only negative (we were aware when booking but not quite prepared for the reality) of what was a lovely 3 days. Thank you Helen for your wonderful hospitality.

Of the 60 or so AirBNB experiences I've had, my stay at Helen's place was my favorite. She is a warm and gracious host, going out of her way to share the delights of her magical property with us. The living room and two of the three bedrooms have lovely ocean views - the pictures do not do it justice. Her place in immaculately clean and well provisioned. We wish we had planned to stay longer!

we really enjoyed our stay at Helen's place . Beach view is fantastic. we are 3 couples and it was perfect fit . Helen is too sweet , she filled the fridge according to our taste and helped us with extra items we needed for cooking . We would definitely recommend this place and would love to re-book the same if we ever plan again to New Zealand . Never miss the place if available :)

A lovely comfortable home near the seaside with everything you need

Lyndsey and her partner welcomed us warmly and we appreciated the time they took to make sure we had everything we needed. Their care shows through in the beautiful cottage and upon arriving we were excited and pleased at the quiet and serene area nestled on their beautiful property. Everything inside is perfectly clean and cozy and we had everything we needed. There was plenty of space to put our luggage and a large table to enjoy our meals and entertain on. During our stay we especially enjoyed the beautiful patio and watching the sun set over the fields. It truly made our holiday that much better. It is also conveniently located near a few wineries and some takeaway options that we visited. This is a must stay!

We found Aaron and Lindsay to be extremely welcoming. Lindsay provided us with a map of the local area marking out recommended eateries, sights, shops etc. The cottage was as described and set in beautiful park like grounds. Arron And Lindsay made me feel welcome from the time I got there to the end of my 10 day stay.I had a great time getting out and seeing Hawkes Bay by the Mountain Bike that was provided and maps of all the cycle ways was on hand to show me the way.What a beautiful little cottage with all the amenities to make my stay comfortable. Staying on a huge property with well kept gardens and Vineyards all around gave me a spectacular view of Rural living.

Aslantis is far and away one of the best places you can stay in the area. You have a quick 3 minute walk to the local Mart and bar. The views from the garden and breathtaking and the beach is right across the street. The interior is amazingly spacious and gives a feeling of home and warmth.

Joys place is in a quiet scenic location close to the sea. An excellent place to stay whilst exploring the local area. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. Joy was a very welcoming and friendly host who made us feel very much at ease whilst sharing her home. Highly recommended.

Joy was a very nice Host. She gave us all the information to travel around the area and gave us a tidy and clean room with soft sheet made of organic cotton. The breakfast was nice and chatting with her has been more than a pleasure. I highly reccomend this host. PS: she has a wonderful lemoon tree in her backyard, lemon fruits were simply amazing :)

Dianna's place is not far from central Napier but you do need a car. The unit is separate from the main house so private and self-contained. It was clean, comfortable and was well appointed with everything you would need. The queen bed was very comfortable, the shower excellent. It was just like a motel only better.

The studio has a well equipped kitchen and is clean, quiet and comfy. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the eggs and bread for our breakfast. Its about a 10 minute drive from downtown Napier. There is a small shopping area about 5 minutes away with a New World grocery store and a laundromat, along with a great yarn shop.

This studio has everything you could possibly need and more! The host is fantastic and she makes the greatest puddings. Lots of nice touches to personalise our stay. There is a choice of themes for the bedroom which we ve never had before. Plenty of space to just hang out too.
