Places to stay in Clare
One bedroom apartment attached to our living space Very quiet neighbourhood. Bright living area with full kitchen bathroom living room dining room closets and daybed for extra guest Nice yard to relax in
Our home is located in a quite little neighbourhood populated with retired couples and young families. The local hospital is a stones throw away, as are many other popular attractions such as Cape Forchu Lighthouse. Downtown, shopping, and dinning are within walking distance and the local mall and cinema are just a short drive.
  • Great place! Convenient, comfortable and cozy. The Christmas tree and baked goods were a lovely treat. Would stay here again.

  • This lakefront spot is truly a gem. The home is exceptionally clean an outfitted with comfortable furniture and an amazing tub! We visited in October so couldn't take advantage of the pool, but the deck overlooking the lake with the fire pit was magical and I didn't want to leave it. Sharon is a wonderful, considerate host who is available at a moment's notice.

    Emily2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Hidden Gem is such a special place. A great place when you really need some RnR. We spent two nights there and totally took advantage of the amenities the first night (Mother Nature had other plans for our second night with hurricane Dorian) however Sharon was all too quick to continually check in on us and make sure we weren’t in need of anything, even went above and beyond our last morning with hot water for us to have coffee delivered to the door and offered to feed us breakfast at their home. We have already started looking at future dates, and can not wait to return to the hidden gem. :)

    Sheila2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place will not disappoint. It is extremely quiet and peaceful, the pool is absolutely lovely, and the view is stunning, especially the sun rise and sun set over the water. Sharon went out of her way to add a personal touch to make our visit even more special. Truly a wonderful place to stay!

    Melanie2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hidden gem. Our family had a great time playing the pool, enjoying the waterfront patio, and watching the humming birds and bald eagles. Highly recommend.

    David2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly perfect if you want a beautiful, relaxing vacation! The view as you drive up to the side of the cottage will take your breath away! Our whole family LOVED having our morning coffee on the deck down on the lake...the lake is so calm at times it looks like a mirror...the sounds of nature as you breathe in the morning air are perfect for recharging your energy... We also LOVED spending time in the beautiful pool as a family and taking the paddle boat out for a few spins was super fun. Ending our days with a bonfire lakeside as a family was also a huge highlight for us! Sharon is a wonderful host. We are a French Acadian family and were there over the Acadian celebrations on August 15th. Sharon had sent us the itinerary of the local activities for that day. We made our way down to the “Tintamarre” and free concert in the evening. What a fun experience! The whole community of Clare sure knows how to show their Acadian pride!! Sharon had also recommended a restaurant with authentic Acadian cuisine in the neighboring community of Saulnierville, “La Cuisine Robichaud”. It did not disappoint. Delicious food and very generous portions! Overall we had a WONDERFULLY MEMORABLE family vacation and would not hesitate for one minute to return to Sharon’s property! In fact, we truly hope to be able to return some day! Thank you Sharon and David! This was exactly what our family needed this year! Having been diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of the year and going through chemo and radiation was a pretty trying time for me and my whole family...but being able to come together as a family in such a beautiful and peaceful location was perfect! Thank you for sharing your “hidden gem” with us! It was a pleasure meeting both of you! A la prochaine!

    Lynn2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Hidden Gem was all we expected and more. There were so many thoughtful little touches like balloons for my daughter's birthday and a map to the best fishing spot for her boyfriend, coffee, bottled water and a little basket of toiletries for things one was bound to forget (which we did ha ha!). We felt spoiled with the private pool (80 degrees!) and gazebo and only wish we had a few more days to enjoy the peace! We hope to come back again next year! Thanks so much for hosting us! :) Scott, Lurinda, Kailee and Jeremy

Small private lakefront cottage. Secluded property next to the beautiful Ellenwood Provincial Park, full of hiking/walking trails. Rustic, and undergoing minor renovations but a very cozy, clean place to stay. The Lake is clean and great for swimming! Full kitchen with most everything, an outdoor fire pit for nice nights, and a piano for rainy days. The bbq is in rough shape but still gets good in hot! The Primary heat of the space is a wood stove (See add. info).
Secluded and private, with no other lake lots or camps in direct view. Central location, 10 minute drive to town, as well as 10 minute drive to beaches (Port Maitland). Primary heating is wood heat. If you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with wood heat, please ask questions before booking to find out if the place is right for you! :) SPECIAL NOTE: On the weekend of August 17th 2019 the property will host a large event. Depending on the weather, the lawn may be a little beatdown from foot traffic for a week or to prior.
Quiet road, with mostly seasonal cottages. Provincial Park provides great wild life and seclusion.
  • Amazing location, great hospitality, and wonderful touches on the cabin made it the perfect getaway.

  • Great getaway, felt like we had the lake to ourselves. Bring your canoe! Extra perks being a musician as there was a piano there. Hop skip to Yarmouth if you forget anything so location scores big points. Cottage with a camp feel. Great shower by the way. Definitely going back!

This quaint and versatile living space is located in the heart of the Acadian community of Clare, Nova Scotia overlooking Saint Mary’s Bay with its breathtaking ocean sunsets.
Denise Comeau has converted her art studio in a warm welcoming space tastefully decorated with her own work. It is set amidst her life’s basic passions: horses, hens, organic garden and greenhouse. Step outside to observe the animals more closely or wander down the path to the seashore. A perfect spot from which to partake in Clare’s famed Acadian hospitality. Whether you always wanted to visit Clare but never have, or you are a seasoned visitor with links to Université Sainte-Anne, golf, Mavillette beach, biking or Acadian cuisine, this rare comfortable gem will surely make you feel at home. FYI: There is a comfortable queen sofa bed in the living room and a comfortable king size bed in a separate bedroom.
The area along the shore between Digby and Yarmouth is often called the "French Shore" for good reason. This area does not only offer dramatic beauty of ocean views, it is the home of Nova Scotia's largest Acadian population. You will often hear Acadian French being spoken, a distinct dialect with many old-French words. The bilingual inhabitants along this shore are descendants of the first European settlers, who came from France in the early 1600s. After the Expulsion of 1755, many of Nova Scotia's Acadians came to this area years later to build new communities, turning to the sea for their livelihood. You’ll see Stella Maris - the Acadian flag – flying from many of the houses. You can recognize this flag by the tri-colours with a single star in the blue portion, representing their patron Saint Maria.
  • A lovely, cozy space on the most beautiful farm property with sunset view of the ocean. Everything you would need included, including fresh eggs from the hens!

    Elizabeth2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A charming, sweet stay with a phenomenal view. If in the area again, I would no doubt re-book. Thanks kindly Denise!

    Margaret2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a a beautifully decorated cottage with amazing views. Denise and Kenneth showed us such wonderful hospitality!

    Cheryl2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so amazing! The views are breathtaking with the horses and the ocean out the back door. Adorably decorated and very cute. Close to a grocery store. It and fully stocked for coffee which we appreciated. We loved staying here!

    Yvan2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a most individual home. Quirky and fun! All the appliances were top of the line, so many thoughtful touches and extras not normally provided. Butter, jam, blend, tea and coffee to name but a few. Thank you Denise!

    Mary2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely house close to the sea. Denise prepared it with love and the cleanliness was excellent. Although staying in an aged house, we felt comfortable with a good heating (even with digital control in each room, including bath) and Internet access in a rather rural area. Due to a bit rainy and cloudy weather we only saw one of those magnificant sunsets which were mentioned by many other guests. Nevertheless, our visit to the far Western Acadian spot was worth the efforts.

    Dirk2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a whirlwind visit so a very short overnight stay in preparation for the Gran Fondo, but this is a great spot with an unbelievable sunset and friendly host. Would love to come for a longer stay to explore the area and take advantage of the fresh eggs offered by Denise!

    Aj2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We went there during hurricane Dorian and our first day we got fresh eggs and to meet our very pleasant host Denise. Thr next day becaue of the hurricane we had no power and they ran an extension chord from their place to ours and put a lamp on so it wouldn't be pitxh dark. Also before we left we got to see the barn and chat to these amazing hosts..above amd beyond great people and a great spot and town. We highly recommend it and we will be going back.

  • This is a spotlessly clean, very well provisioned house with a million $ view. Although we only stayed one night, you will find plenty to do in the area if you stayed longer.

    Alastair2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place with a view of the ocean. Everything was as described and we enjoyed our stay.

  • Fabulous place. Great view, fully stocked with upscale comfortable amenities. I reccomend it enthusiastically.

    Tom2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a beautiful house and location. The view of the bay from the house is spectacular. The house itself has absolutely everything you would need. A fully stocked kitchen, bathroom and very comfortable beds. The house has just been newly renovated so all new appliances and all the comforts of home. We have stayed in Airbnb’s and other rentals in this country and abroad and none are any nicer than this gem. We would definitely recommend you stay here! Enjoy

    Margaret2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful ocean views and cozy modern A frame. So many places to explore in the area.

    Lauren2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Guy and Claire are amazing host and have such a beautiful property. Even though we got stuck at their place during Dorian. They offered us Dinner and fresh water supply. I would highly recomend them as host and their property for a good family vacation.

    Vikas2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Claire’s A-frame vacation home should be a “must stay” for anyone traveling the south shore of Nova Scotia. It is nothing short of perfection and will be the highlight of anyone’s trip.

  • Excellent experience at Luc! Super nice place to enjoy the surroundings, with the bonus of a small patio to enjoy the beautiful sunsets of Baie Ste-Marie. The accommodation is very clean and super well appointed, with great taste and attention. Thanks again! :)

    Ariane2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our one night at L’auberge sur la baie! The place has a modern feel, a nice open floor plan, and a gorgeous view of the bay, which makes viewing the sunsets a must-do. I loved the vintage look fridge! We enjoyed a marvelous dinner nearby, and were lucky enough to hear live Acadian music there as well! We absolutely would stay here again!

    Laura2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Luc’s place was perfect for us, but unfortunately Hurricane Dorian struck while we were there. Luc works out west but His mom Helene, who lives nearby, was tremendously helpful, bringing candles, drinking water and fresh baked muffins. We could not have been better cared for to ride out a hurricane with no power!

    Tim2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Luc was an outstanding host with quick replies. The sunset here was amazing and the bedding was extremely comfortable and clean. Definitely will stay here again.

    Abby2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Although we weren't able to stay at Luc's place because of reasons out of his control, the accommodations looked lovely and right on the water. Luc responded well immediately and a full refund was automatically given plus an additional amount for our trouble. We would definately request to stay here agan as it looked like a perfect place to stay.

    Karen2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn On The Bay is amazing. It’s super clean, designed well, comfortable and spacious and definitely relaxing. The sunsets on the ocean are phenomenal. Luc, is such an amazing host and was very easy to work with. Thanks for an amazing stay Luc!

    Jason2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The “barn on the bay” was just a great place to stay. Very, very clean, and all the amenities you need to cook etc but we didn’t want to cook so we ate out. Beds were comfortable and again very clean. The bed rooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs on the main floor but it wasn’t a problem at all. There is a coffee maker and coffee and cream provided and also tea. Lots of interesting pamphlets and books with information on the area. There is a restaurant la cuisine Robicheau (La Cuisine Robicheau, 9651 Nova Scotia Trunk 1, Saulnierville, NS B0W 2Z0) but reservations are required so book in advance. We had fish and chips from a takeout place just down the road and it was pretty good. I would recommend this accommodation whole heartedly, and can’t think of anything I would improve.

This little place may not look like much but you will be pleasantly surprised with its cozy appeal. With art and a calming ambiance. It is a one minute walk from the hospital and a 3 minute drive or 20 minute walk to the ferry and down town. If you like bicycles there is one here to use.
Just a minute to the hospital by foot. Bicycle to the town in 5 minutes. Hop skip and jump to all amenities and a 10 minute drive to the famous lighthouse and beaches
4 houses away from the hospital and close to town and all amenities
  • Gina’s place is a gem! The house is lovely! Very stylish, clean and lots of thoughtful touches! The location was great aswell! I was able to easily walk to my meeting at the hospital, then for a lovely walk in town. Gina was very welcoming and easy to communicate with. Will definitely keep Gina’s place in mind any time I’m in Yarmouth again!

  • Great Big Sea has a song where they sing "Won't you come down to Yarmouth town". I feel they should add the line ".....and stay at Gina's place". Gina was a great host who went out of her way to ensure I had a great experience in Yarmouth. Clean, safe and close to dowtown, I highly reccomend staying here :)

    Stephen2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Gina’s was amazing. She was more than willing to give helpful tips about the area, keep the house in amazing shape, and answer any questions that I had. I was taking a school program so I was able to stay at Gina’s for 7 weeks and she made the visit more than comfortable. I would stay at Gina’s again for sure

Stillwater Cottage is a rustic, off-grid, riverside cottage located on the Meteghan River, 4.5 Km from Belliveaus Cove and Saint Mary's Bay. It is a destination location offering exceptional swimming, canoeing, fishing, woods trails and time around the campfire. From here there is easy access to the beaches, lakes and experiences of the Acadian Shoreline. A perfect retreat for all ages.
  • My husband and I stayed here for a weekend and it was a great place to unplug and unwind. The cottage was spotless and the woodstove made it super cozy at night. We would love to come back and stay longer!

    Lisa2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, quiet space to get away from the hubbub of the world. The wood stove was lovely to get rid of the damp in the fall air. Take advantage of the canoe to enjoy a paddle. It is a beautiful trip downstream. Although off-grid there were still amenities like hot and cold running water (separate drinking water provided), stove, fridge, a propane light and wood stove. The propane lamp gave plenty of light for the living room area, and the solar LEDs in the kitchen, bathroom, and deck were just right. Loved sitting on the covered balcony and taking in the view of the river. Can't wait to have the opportunity to go back!

    Pam2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here two nights and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. A great place to enjoy the outdoors. We had coffee on the deck, went for a canoe and had a bonfire. The cottage had everything that was needed (lanterns, candles, indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, hot water). It was clean and nicely decorated. I would recommend staying here especially if you need to unplug and unwind. The river water in front of the cottage is lovely.

    Angela2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely getaway to unwind and connect with loved ones and nature. This cozy cabin and property are filled with warmth and thoughtfulness from kindling, candles, LED lights, canoe/kayaks, campfire pit, helpful instructions and locale suggestions to hammocks and a clothes line to truly savour each moment. Jon and Erin were available by cell phone for any questions. We stayed before and during Hurricane Dorian's passing through Nova Scotia. We felt very comfortable and safe watching the wind dance on the river and enjoyed a cup of coffee before the winds picked up under the covered balcony. The propane fridge, stove/oven, and wood fireplace were truly a gift while 80% of Nova Scotia lost power. We will be back again!!

    Sebastian2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I travelled to Stillwater Cottage for a much-needed retreat from the city and our busy lives. We got that and so much more! Erin's beautiful cabin in the woods is remote and isolated and right on a gorgeous river, perfect for swimming. There are hammocks for reading and dozing, a canoe for meandering down the river, and a large covered porch for early morning tea or coffee as you watch the natural world awake. Erin is a fabulous host, who answered many questions prior to our arrival and was available when we had questions during our stay. Highly, highly recommended!

  • This is a beyond wonderful, special, tranquil, magical place. It is very secluded and we did not hear or see another person the entire time we were there. The water is beautiful and wonderful to both swim in and to canoe along down to the lake. Simple, beautiful and refreshing. We will definitely come back in the future. One of the best spots I have ever experienced.

  • An amazing getaway! Cozy rustic cabin with beautiful outdoor spaces: woods, campfire, teepee, canoe, river swing, covered deck... The host has carved out a very special place.

Cozy and delightful! A bright sun filled space to soak in the ocean view. Located on St Mary's Bay, the waters are part of Nova Scotia's largest lobster fishing area. Located on the Acadian French shore the neighbors are mostly bilingual (english/french) speakers with a unique and interesting history and a friendly disposition. Good location for day trips to Yarmouth, Annapolis Royal, Digby, and Digby neck, whale watching . Very close to Gran Fondo starting point and Clare golf course
This house is a beautifully bright open concept home, which is literally bathed in light all day long. Elegant design elements give it a light and cheerful atmosphere. Large patio doors open out to the ocean view. It is a happy space to be in! Or sit outside and enjoy the gardens and the backyard patio. The large exterior back yard gives a place for families to play games together. Walk down to the trail to the ocean front and you can take a trail along the oceans edge. Or carefully scramble down the embankment to the rocky beach and go beach combing.
The Acadian Region of Clare, is home to a bilingual (English/French) people with a rich history and a zest for life. Enjoy the ocean, the seafood, and the culture.

Check-in process and communication with our host during the stay was amazing. They even were kind enough to give us an hour later check out when we requested it last minute. Very kind!

Top floor bedroom might be difficult to get to if you have mobility issues, but I believe this is stated in his description. We enjoyed our time there and would rebook and recommend!

A compact kitchen and bar fridge allow for putting together a simple meal or breakfast. No formal sitting area but the stools at the small breakfast bar suffice. I enjoyed my stay :)

The panoramic view of the Bay of Fundy is mesmerizing. The Cottage offers all the comforts you'll need for your stay, including terrific cooking facilities. Aside from the studio bedroom, there is a pull-out couch that can sleep two, as well as a roll-out cot for a fifth guest. Perfect for a family with children. And pets are welcome. Come for the whale watching, hiking, birding, and the natural beauty and tranquility. You won't want to leave.
Your hosts live just minutes away...and are always willing to answer your questions about the area.
This cottage is located on a quiet lane in a small fishing village. Our Bay of Fundy tides are famous for being the highest in the world. You can see the dramatic difference between high and low tides at Beautiful Cove, just a few minutes walk from the Cottage.
  • My partner and I can't say enough good things about this cottage, but I will try. The setting is outstanding: a wind-battered coast in the middle of the ocean. We were here in the fall on a wet weekend where the giant water facing windows and wood stove made it wonderfully cozy. I can only imagine that it would be equally spectacular on a beautiful summer day. The cottage itself is the most well-stocked Airbnb that we have ever stayed at. Coffee, spices, a fridge full of essentials, toiletries, and homemade oatmeal cookies and muffins! If you forget something it likely won't matter because Chris and Andy will have stocked it. Finally, Chris and Andy were very accommodating. They came to meet us shortly after we arrived to give us the lay of the land and to point out where we could find treats for their horse and donkey in case we wanted to go meet them. Can't recommend staying here enough. You won't be disappointed.

    Emma2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • There were so many wonderful amenities (food, kitchen gear, rain ponchos, reading material about current local and historical events, maps, etc.) in this well-stocked cottage. Too many to mention, in fact. In the food department, we had pancakes, hot chocolate, popcorn, eggs, cream, fresh fruit, canned goods, spices, and more (all from supplies in the home) AND we received home made cookies and muffins baked by Chris. We loved our short walks to Beautiful Cove, viewing Briar Island harbour activity, and watching the lighthouse. We feel like this location on Long Island (close to Briar Island) is the best place for exploring both islands. We even loved looking out the cottage's glass wall on a dramatic weather day of nearly horizontal rain and high wind. We were cozy and warm with books, games, plenty to cook, and Internet TV. The home is bright even on rainy days. The hosts, Chris and Andy were very generous and welcoming and helped us plan local adventures. We want to return!

    Betty2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • It is perfect. Cozy wood stove and an amazing view. The home made goodies are very tasty and add a wonderful personal touch. Chris was so attentive, even offering to pick things up while she went into Digby. It is a wonderful place to unwind and connect with your loved one. PS, the horse loves carrots.😀😀

    Lisa2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • An exceptional AirBnB, absolutely loved the location and the cottage. We especially enjoyed the views over the Bay of Fundy, cosy evenings by the wood burner, local walks and whale watching off Briar Island. Chris and Andy are exceptional hosts. Chris provided delicious cookies and muffins and the kitchen is very well equipped, so we ate well. They also provide a great deal of local information in the cottage and are on hand to answer any queries or offer suggestions. We loved meeting their various furry pets. We hope to return one day.

    Ann2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Super furnished house with really everything, what you need. View from the terrace dreamlike. (When there is no fog). Feel-good character high.

    Andreas2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • 'Beautiful Cove Cottage', in Freeport, is an incredibly charming and comfortable place to call home while spending time on Long Island. From the moment I walked in the door, after first meeting Andy outside as I arrived, ( and Christine later when she returned from running errands in Digby ), I discovered fresh, home baked( by Christine) cookies , muffins, a fruit platter, freshly cut flowers, and a wood ,fire set- up and ready to go ( by Andy ), and all the amenities and personal touches imaginable. The location is perfect for day-tripping to Brier Island, taking in Whale watching tours, biking, hiking, touring Long Island, or simply sitting on the deck basking in the glorious sights and sounds of the Bay of Fundy. There is an unobstructed view from the deck of the cottage...and I found that it was easy to perfect the art of rest and relaxation while reading on the deck when not out exploring. I never tired of the view, and having a set of binoculars (thoughtfully provided by Andy and Christine in the cottage ) made scanning the 'waters' while sipping a cup of tea particularly appealing. I would like to say that 'Beautiful Cove Cottage' is one of those 'best kept secrets' but judging by the reviews/comments of many previous guests...I am not alone in my discovery and/or love of the place. The warmth, generosity, and hospitality of Christine and Andy made it particularly special...and I have no doubt that I'll return. Thank you again Christine and Andy for making me feel so welcome and 'at home' ....

  • If I could give Chris 10 stars, I would. My wife and I stayed a week, and it was wonderful. Chris was attentive and took great care of us. The place is neat and clean, with lots of glass and an outdoor deck facing the Bay of Fundy. The place is small and basic, sort of like a studio apartment, but it suited us just right. The kitchen is well equipped, husband Andy provided everything needed for fires in the wood stove, which was super cozy as the temperatures were starting to dip. Lots of nice touches: flowers on the table, butter in the butter dish, sodas in the fridge, fresh baked cookies and muffins. The views are beautiful. Easy walk down to Beautiful Cove. Freeport is a charming town. I just asked my wife what I should say, and she responded: “fantastic, one of a kind, feel at home, lacking nothing” Highly recommended. Just leave room for us to return! (-;

An elegant turn of the century Victorian home, with wrap around veranda. Beautiful garden, and proximity to the world renowned Bay of Fundy tides, whale watching, Acadian shore of Nova Scotia. Breakfast included.

  • Space is true to photos. Air conditioning unit was greatly appreciated during the summer heat. Host was quick to reply and even gave us a ride to our car in the morning! Also loved the added touches of KD in the cupboard and the cribbage game on the mantel!

  • Nice place, neat and clean. Just how it should be.

  • If you are visiting and need lodging, this is a comfortable one-bedroom apartment located about 1 km south of the Bay in the lovely, quiet Clare countryside. Unpretentious but with a well-supplied kitchen, a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a comfortable bed, it's great for a short- or long-term stay. The sofabed in the living room provides extra sleeping space. The WiFi is ample, and television is streamed. Situated about halfway between Digby and Yarmouth, the apartment is conveniently located with easy access to a grocery store and full-service gas station, as well as a golf club, and a wonderful little bakery (Le Pain d'la Baie) and restaurant (La Cuisine Robichaud) are not far away. Vicki, co-host to Dan, is readily available and very helpful. My 3-1/2 month stay here was most pleasant.

    Linda2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Large apartment with everything you need. Lots of cooking supplies and toiletries which was a nice touch as I forgot body cream. Very peaceful area. Only suggestion would be to turn on the heat before the guest checks in as it was programmed at 13 and quite chilly when I arrived.

  • This is our second stay at Cathy's loft. It's just lovely - we'll be back next year!

    Ann2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We were overwhelmed with Cathy’s hospitality. She prepared a charcuterie board and had fresh fruits waiting for us when we arrived. This property is located on a beautiful lake and has amazing views. It is extremely clean and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place! I would have to say that this has been the best Airbnb stayed at so far! Thanks again Cathy and Tim

    Debbie2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy's loft is a great place to get away for a few days and unwind, relax and recharge. I enjoyed swimming in the lake, relaxing on the balcony and kayaking. The welcome platter was a nice bonus. Cathy takes great pride in her garden and property. She's easy to communicate with and responded quickly. She has a great deal of knowledge of the area. I would return again in the future.

    Tracie2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy and Tim's Treehouse in the Acadian Forest is a beautiful space...well laid out, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Cathy had put a tray of appetizers in the fridge which was very much appreciated after a lengthy road trip. It is in a very quiet and peaceful setting. Kayaks and bicycles were available to use. The treehouse overlooks a beautiful lake.

    Margaret2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy was a wonderful host who welcomed us warmly. Our stay was a wonderful oasis for a couple days. The calmness the property offers was wonderful, close to a lake with kayaks that we took advantage of. It was still close to the town where we were able to visit and have some wonderful meals. A true gem in the Acadian region.

    Natalie2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Just in one word: awesome! Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end of our stay. I definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to relax and loves nature. Cathy welcomed us at her home as if we belong to the family.

    Chantal2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights at Cathy’s and Tim’s Tree Top Loft and enjoyed every minute. They are great hosts and made us feel at home (lots of help, recommendations, freshly made snacks when we arrived) We definitely recommend staying here and would come back at any time. Dankeschön!

Welcome to 1555 Lake Annis Road located in a quaint cottage village 25 minutes outside the town of Yarmouth. This is a great place to come relax with friends and family in a peaceful, natural setting.
In the cottage you will find a kitchen with a full size stove, a refrigerator, cooking utensils as well as pots and pans. There is a large living and dining area with a fireplace, and two bedrooms with a total of three beds. A double inflatable bed is also available if required. The bathroom with shower is located in the adjacent garage. The cottage has an expansive deck where you can lie in the hammock with your favourite book and enjoy the surrounding nature.
Lake Annis is a quiet, friendly place that soothes the soul. You will find yourself surrounded by nature, be it the calls from the local loons or evening flutes from the resident thrushes. The sandy beach on the lake is a lovely 5 minute walk away where you can relax with a book and watch beautiful sunsets, or take the kayaks out for a relaxing paddle to explore the lake's various inlets and coves.
  • Hope the hurricane doesn't affect you

    Lisa2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • It’s hard to know where to start with this sweet little cabin. From the reviews and the cabin description it was exactly as stated. The fireplace, the hammock, jutting across the little yard in the middle of the night to pee; all made for a wonderful woodsy experience. We spent our days adventuring, Clark even left us a cooler to use for the duration of our trip!

    Aimee2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We felt at home here in this cottage by beautiful beautiful Lake Annis. Our stay here took us back in time to a simpler time and allowed us to unwind and have a digital detox. The cottage is the cutest and cosiest place with a log fire and beautiful back balcony. It has real character which we love. It takes you back in time and allows you to just spend time at home. We normally go and drop our things at an air BnB and start to explore as much as we can in the local surrounds but we spent the first few days here just pottering around the cottage drinking coffee and reading on the back balcony. We played puzzles and read for hours and hours. The lake is beautiful and there is lots of walking along the trails and beautiful kayaking on the lake. Clark and Jess were excellent communicators and gave us lots of information about the local area and left the place very welcoming for our stay. We would come back here again and again. We were sad to leave.

  • If you are looking for a cozy retreat, in a quiet area where you can relax and enjoy some old fashion entertainment, this is the perfect spot for you. I picked it because it is what I imagined Nova Scotia to be. Colourful. Charming. Warm. A Canadian hat trick. It didn't disappoint.

    Lori2018-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Clark’s and Jess’s cosy and well equipped cottage. Located in a small village it was the perfect spot to rest and relax after some busy weeks of traveling and exploring Nova Scotia. The communication was outstanding and we especially enjoyed the lake and kayaks. We would definitely recommend staying there and will take some wonderful memories back home! Thanks a lot for having us!

    Kathrin2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed my stay in this fun cottage situated in a quiet, wooded area near Lake Annis. The dark night skies and comfortable bed made for great sleeping. The cottage had everything I needed for my 8 day stay and Clark was helpful and quick to respond to questions. Thanks!

    Linda2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing!! Every little detail is on point from the adorable little coffee bar to the isolated beach on the lake. It is an old and rustic cottage with everything you could possibly want for a weekend away with family. We were visiting the area on a tour around Nova Scotia so just there for a couple days. I quickly wished I had just booked our whole week there. We even came back early from sightseeing to make sure we could enjoy the lake, the kayaks, and the isolated family time. The stars by the lake at night were also amazing!! Don't pass this place up, easily my favorite in Nova Scotia so far!

    Cara2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stay here while participating in the Baie Sainte-Marie cycling Grand Fondo ....absolutely wonderful! We enjoyed the lake, kayaks, BBQing, and sunsets on the porch. Clark was a great host and he was quick to respond to all questions. This is a wonderful area and the people are warm and friendly. Thank you, Scott, Karen, Jonathan and Susan

Delightful is what most say! Awesome! Sweet! A piece of heaven. Now just to be clear, they who say that are not looking for polished and technological modern stuff. This is off grid with solar lights, it’s in the dark sky preserve, but don’t panic you can use your cell phones. It’s less then 10 mins from tusket, where you will find an awesome general store with essentially everything you need. And a new awesome brewery on route to boot! Oh yeah awesome bass fishing!
Check out the pictures they say it all. Please note there is no fridge but there are 3 coolers. One with ice packs. If you are wanting more ice I recommend picking it up At the gas station at exit 33 The bathroom is a primate right no flush toilet in a outhouse. There is not not water.
This funky cabin is in Yarmouth county just 20 mins from the town. Tusket village is just under 10 mins with everything you need. Including a new awesome micro brewery, cafe, and 2 restaurants as well as the famous frenchys used clothing shop.
  • This is our second time here and we can’t say enough positive things about Gina’s cabin. We love the cabin with it’s creative and funky touches. The property is stunning and perfect for a relaxing getaway! Can’t wait to go back!

    Mariah2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot. It is off the grid so be prepared to rough it a bit but the ambience more than makes up for it. We had a wonderful stay and would happily stay again.

  • A truly beautiful/soulful spot to spend a night or two. The space is cozy and nicely curated and the whole place feels like a little sanctuary. I wish we had had more time to enjoy this place - we got in late and had to leave pretty early the next day, but managed to fit in a qhick paddle on the lake in the morning. Thank you, Gina!

  • Our experience staying in Sunset Cottage was all we hoped for and more. The cottage location was perfect for our participation in the Gran Fondo. So clean and comfortable. We walked on the beach, sat on the deck and cooked some great meals. An added touch was finding breakfast foods and condiments in the fridge. Beautiful quilts on the beds and really intriguing art work. Speedy Internet. Hope they will have us back.

    Susan2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was impeccable. Very clean and EVERYTHING you would need. Fantastic for extended stays. The breakfast materials were a lovely touch and perfect for our late night arrival with no time to hit the grocery store. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The view of the water was wonderful and I got to collect a few shells on an early morning walk on the beach. Lovely deck for a coffee in the sun. SO clean, lots of space, epecially for 4 ladies to do a little cooking and dancing in the kitchen. The communication was so clear and helpful, they even offered to let us stay an extra day when the power was out from the hurricane. Overall a wonderful place to stay and a joy to come back to after a day of whale watching.

Guests may enjoy seasonally available produce from the garden, and fresh chicken eggs. Pets are welcome if they are sociable with other animals and no prey drive
This listing is for the Guest Bedroom on the Main floor. The cosy house is only 25 years young, and was built with accessibility in mind, and to the highest efficiency ratings at the time. A transfer lift can be rented for you at cost, from a local accessibility equipment supplier, if needed. Washrooms feature basic accessibility grab bars. There is a shower with a seat, and a bath with transfer chair. There are stacks of fresh towels, and many extra toiletries available, in case you forget something. The house can fit a maximum of 8 guests. Rooms can be rented individually, or rent the whole house for a flat rate. Seasonally available vegetables and fresh eggs will be offered to guests, whenever available. Along with small farm animals, two friendly dogs live here. If you have an aversion to dogs for religious or personal reasons, please let us know in advance so they can be kept in their own area.
The south-west shore of Nova Scotia is known for its warm welcoming people, Acadian culture, and remarkable natural beauty. The region is known for its seafood, including scallops and lobster. Close to University Ste Anne, and many historic sites and churches, guests may enjoy world-class beaches in the area, whale watching or bird watching, hiking, fishing, clamming, cycling, golf, antiqueing, local music and artists, including a thriving quilting guild, Acadian culture and festivals. • This place was perfect! It has a fantastic view and the location is second to none on the island for convenience! We had a fantastic relaxing stay!

    Sherry2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time on Brier Island. The apartment was perfect for us and conveniently close to the store, the cafe and the whale watching (we saw Humpback whales :). The apartment had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. But the best thing about the apartment is the view. First row seats for looking out into the harbour. Really beautiful. Also, I can't thank Letisha enough. She was always fast in answering any question and even "warned" us about the loud motorcycles from the Wharf Rat Ralley before we even got there. And when we got ourselves into a bit of a pickle, she was able to help us out instantly. I would totally stay in the apartment again.

    Claudia2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to enjoy Brier Island. Close to everything, and a fabulous 180 degree view of the harbour.

    William2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to visit. Location is fantastic and a lovely place to spend some time. Really love the living room with all the glass and such a great view of the harbour.being on the second floor is great too because it gives an added level of privacy while seeing all the activity at the heart of town. The deck is great when the afternoon sun is shining. Lots of water pressure and a full kitchen with all the cooking tools you will need. Overall one of my favourite places to stay.

    Richard2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great little apartment with incredible views. The living room full of windows makes for some incredible views!

    Jason2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The next time I am on Brier Island I hope this location will be available again.

  • Cindy's home is perfect for both groups and families. It's spacious with a very well-equipped kitchen, lots of comfortable beds, and sparkling clean. But the best thing is the stunning view and the proximity to the gorgeous Mavillette Beach. Our group of 10 women will definitely be going back!

  • Absolutely gorgeous place. Open concept main floor is great. Kitchen is beyond equipped with everything you can imagine. Awesome porch with an amazing view of the ocean. Cant say enough good things about this place

  • We enjoyed our time at Cindy’s place. It was perfect for our group that was home for a family reunion. The home is beautiful with everything a family would need. The ocean view was awesome and being so close to the beach a pleasure. I highly recommend and would stay again if the opportunity presents itself.

    Rhonda2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy and Mark went above and beyond given the hurricane Dorian impact on the area. House was all that was presented in the listing. Would highly recommend this place.

    Dick2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great escape right beside the ocean, experience the tides and a true NS beach.

    Matthew2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a fantastic beach vacation at your home, a quick five minute walk and you were on the beach. The kitchen was spacious with lots of counters and cupboards. There was coffee tea sugar spices and more to use. They were even a variety of condiments in the fridge. The living room had a large comfortable sofa to relax on after a day at the beach or exploring the area. The appliances all worked well and it was great to have a barbeque to cook outside on the deck. There are loads of toys and games to use and the playground, although our kids were too big, (17 and 23). would be great for little kids. We would definitely recommend this home and will probably be back next year.

    Marcia2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This home was beautiful. Highly recommend it for several family's to stay. Very clean and quiet place. Our grandchildren enjoyed there stay especially the zip line, beach, sandbox and the jeep. Nice to se them all outside having fun. The beach was closer than we thought from the home and very nice. It was a very relaxing stay. Thank You Cindy and family.

    Megan2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The view from this house is breathtaking. You are steps away from the beach. The house is spacious and very clean. I would recommend for all to come here for a get away. Cindy is great, her booklet covers everything and anything you want to do to even the local doctor and pharmacy. Well done

An elegant turn of the century Victorian home, with wrap around veranda. Beautiful garden, and proximity to the world renowned Bay of Fundy tides, whale watching, Acadian shore of Nova Scotia. Breakfast included.
Weymouth was founded in 1783 by United Empire Loyalists, (Americans who were on the losing side of the American Revolution, and resettled in Canada). Next door are French speaking Acadians who settled this region after being expelled from their homes in other parts of Atlantic Canada
  • Only stayed for one quick evening, but really enjoyed Debra & Scott's hospitality. They went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, but also were considerate of my need for rest after a long day on the road. Would stay again!

Home is on a private road ... quiet, virtually no traffic. Included fire pit package of kindling, paper, lighter, and Smore kit :-). Quiet naps on the dock. Lots of private space inside and out.
The home is situated on a very quiet private road. You will probably wake up to birds chirping if you leave your bedroom windows open. Deer nap on the property and use it as a pathway. The 2 rabbits who visit in the morning do not cause any issues. You are 5-20 minutes from 4 excellent beach areas.
  • A very pretty spot and super gracious hosts. The attention to detail and thoughtful preparations made us feel very welcome. The home is close to the small city of Yarmouth yet blessed with quiet, spaciousness and very beautiful views. Comfortable and well appointed rooms. We enjoyed the canine company also!

  • This place is very good, well decorated, very clean and very well equipped. This is one of the most beautiful RB&B I have ever known. Anna is kind, helpful and available to advise us. I recommend. Thanks again.

    Louis2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Anna has created a stylish and very well equipped place to stay. With a large and well equipped kitchen and group area, she has 4 suites with on suit bathrooms and breakfast bar. The fifth unit has double bed and separate bathroom. Anna met us and showed us around she recommended a very nice restaurant and was able to get us a reservation. We wish her well and would recommend her to any travelers to that area.

RUSTIC OFF THE GRID Wilderness Camping Cabin. Just a short drive up a narrow dirt road to the parking area and a 10 min. walk along a tree covered path and you will arrive at the cabin. Morning Glory sits atop a hill with breath taking panoramic views of St. Mary's Bay and the small fishing village of Little River. A private area where one can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. If booked for your dates check availability on my second listing, Ottoview Wilderness Cabins, Jessie Bay.
There is NO RUNNING WATER OR ELECTRICITY, however we provide container water for washing and there are battery operated as well as solar powered lights inside. Please bring your own drinking water. There is a verandah to sit and enjoy the views while you cook or to simply sit and relax. At night the solar powered LED lights come on at dusk and provide a cozy glow around the verandah. Because you are in an area with no street lights lighting is minimal. The cabin is equipped with; small kitchen area with countertop and sink, BBQ (propane provided), Camp stove (you must use outside) table & chairs and wood stove for heat inside on cool evenings. There is one set of bunk beds (single top & bottom) with mattresses (with sanitized covers), & one davenport type sofa (42” x 71” ) which unfolds to a double. YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING. We provide pillows and there are sleeping bags available upon request. There are non-flush toilets (outhouse) onsite. We provide some basics such as tissue in the outhouse, paper towel, dish soap, hand soap, hand sanitizer and some pots and pans. There are SHOWER FACILITIES AVAILABLE A SHORT 5 MIN DRIVE AWAY AT A NEARBY CAMPGROUND for a fee. If you feel carrying your supplies to the cabin is a little too much we can provide transportation of your supplies from the parking area to the cabin at your request. There are picnic tables, benches, lawn chairs and a fire pit. There is also horse shoe throwing and washer toss for some outdoor gaming fun.
The area boasts a variety of things to see and do some of which include: A hike from the parking area to Tommys beach, (rough hiking) a beautiful rock beach that is private with mesmerizing sounds of the waves crashing the shore line where sitings of the right whale can be seen occasionally; sand beach in nearby Sandy Cove; fish processing plant in Little River, fish can be purchased on days they are operating; Whale Watching tours; balancing rock walking trail on Long Island and many other places and things to explore. There is a convenience store in Little River as well, however the hours of operation are not consistent. You may wish to purchase any grocery supplies in Digby before you arrive. Ruby Red Gallery, a newly opened art gallery featuring local artists, located across from the convenience store and operating 9 - 4:30 Monday to Saturady, is a must to visit. There is a Cafe at the end of Digby Neck (10 min) as well as a take out on Long Island and a cafe on Brier Islands. (Small Car Ferry to each Island)
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Ottoview Wilderness Cabins!! Jacqueline has truly thought of everything. I would even go so far to say that she makes it easy to live without running water and electricity. We wish we could've stayed longer and hope to be back, as it made for a peaceful and relaxing retreat.

    Lexi2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described.

    Travis2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful, a real oasis. The cabin was clean and well stocked with supplies (kitchen items, some games, bedding), the view is spectacular. Washing water was available and the lights and wifi were great. There is also a recharging station for your devices if you need. My only notes for someone not knowing what to expect: The road up to the cabins is gravel and rather steep. I have a little Yaris and there were a few tricky spots but just go slow. It is a bit of a steep walk up to the cabins so if you have a lot of gear, take a few trips. There is a little access road as well that Jacqueline can help with it you need. Wood and fire starters are provided for the stove but you might want to pick up some kindling. Be a good guest and go slow on Tommy's Branch.

    Lindsay2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • STAY HERE!! I changed plans last minute and booked this place without realizing it was a hike in. We were pleasantly surprised by the heart tree and the well maintained trail into the cabins. Topped off by the breathtaking view when you reach your destination. My 3 year old loved the freedom and the hammock! We will 100% be back.

    Adam2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin and location were amazing, and everything was as advertised. Jacqueline left clear directions and was very responsive. There were many thoughtful touches in the cabin. I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Digby Neck & Islands area.

    Lance2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Morning Glory is a great little cabin. No electricity but lots of battery-operated lights in the cabin, solar lights outside, and well-stocked water tanks both inside and outside the cabin. The camp stove, although we didn't use it, would be very handy if cooking on the fire is not your thing. View is amazing, and firewood was appreciated. A short walk up the hill and through the forest from the parking lot to get to the cabin with a roller suitcase, but it was well worth it for the view and privacy. The walk has some lovely touches along the way. Would stay here again for sure.

    Adrian2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline’s place was beautiful. It’s the perfect get away to enjoy the wildness and came with everything we needed. I was traveling from the USA so Jacqueline even provided us with sleeping bags! If you don’t have the camping supplies but are looking for a great glamping experience she provides basically everything you could need. It was foggy the day we arrived but the stars would have been amazing otherwise. That being said it is in a remote location so be prepared. The road to get there is unpaved and if it has been muddy my little compact car probably would not have made it up. I also don’t suggest arriving in the dark because it’s a significant walk to the cabins and not marked well.
