“2. Visit The Canterbury Museum Boasting a fine collection of artefacts that span New Zealand’s natural and cultural history, Canterbury Museum is a great spot to visit if you’re wanting to learn more about the region’s heritage and the people and events that have helped to shape it over time. Featuring a wide selection of permanent exhibitions focusing on subjects as broad as Antarctic exploration, Asian arts, geology, and early European settlement, as well as an ever changing lineup of special exhibitions. ”

Zoo
“Willowbank is a local zoo/petting zoo. Its not the cheapest place to go (If you are around for longer its definitely worth to buy a year pass) but an awesome experience. You can feed and pet lots of animals and even see a Kiwi bird in real life! If you are lucky you may also be around for a Haka dance (Native Maori fighting dance) which locals present there occasionally.”

“C1 is more than a cafe, it truly is an amazing experience. I have taken people here and years later they still talk about it. An iconic Christchurch cafe in the old High Street Post Office. Utilising the pneumatic tubes, get your food delivered to your table through the pneumatic tubes. The coffee and food is great here, it is always busy so be prepared to wait a short while for a table. c1espresso.co.nz ”

Arts & Crafts Store
“New Zealand’s largest collection of Category 1 heritage buildings. Once the University of Canterbury, the Arts Centre is now a place to eat, drink, and visit galleries. The Centre was significantly damaged in the 2010/11 earthquakes but its rebuild is now past the halfway point. There’s a Rollickin’ Gelato outlet there and also Lumiere, an amazing boutique cinema with a lovely cocktail bar. Sir Ernest Rutherford (the man who first split the atom) went to university there, and one of the Centre’s many attractions include a visit to his ‘den’ – a must-do for science/physics/astronomy fans. ”
