Relax, rejuvenate and unplug in this ultimate rustic getaway experience in the country. In our beautiful screened Pondhouse, you can gaze at the stars and listen to the sounds of nature from your cozy warm bed. Feel the breeze as you sleep in this magical place unlike any other you will have ever seen. Your whole being will be nourished by your time spent here. There is the Pondhouse itself, the outdoor fire pit, meditation spots around the pond, and trails nearby for walking in the woods
GLAMPING, aka Glamour Camping Available mid-April through November 1 Read just a few reviews and you quickly understand that the Pondhouse is truly an EXPERIENCE. It is a transformative, magical retreat. NOTE: the Pondhouse is not for everyone. No electricity. ( You will see a few outlets, but animals chewed the electrical wires years ago and we decided not to hook it back up) No walls-screened only. You will hear animals in the woods. There are bugs! The bathroom is a two minute walk. No kitchen. No stove (but there is a well stocked outdoor fire pit). You take chances with the weather. We've had guests love a cozy rainy weekend and even book an extra day during 30 degree temperatures. No kids under 12, and a new limit of 2 people only. This is part of our new effort to keep this a very quiet, unplugged, zen type of escape - but please write me to discuss if you have a special situation you'd like us to consider. If it feels like a good fit we are willing to bend these rules once in a while... Really! While we want to be dog friendly, please write to me to answer my dog questions so I can decide if your dog is an appropriate fit. After two negative experiences this season we are being much more selective and careful. Still interested? Read on. . . You have your own private, full bathroom, with shower, located in our studio building a two minute walk from the Pondhouse. And here is where you get electricity! You can charge your phone and use wifi There is a fire pit a few steps from your door. It’s stocked with paper and chopped wood (or chop your own), so you can make a fire to roast marshmallows, cook a whole meal, or just hang out and enjoy the feeling of camping. Other amenities, including plates and utensils, small fridge, electric teapot, coffee press, coffee and teas are provided for you in the studio. CAUTION: *No Wi-Fi or cell service in the pond house - come to unplug! (There is electricity, and wifi you can use at the studio) *No nearby transit, and we are in the boonies, so you’ll need a car *Planning this as a surprise? I strongly suggest that you KNOW that your partner will love this. I've seen a few surprises not work very well. Glamping is not for everyone! *We are on 50 acres and sound carries. This means no loud music. *Please be respectful of the peace, quiet and serenity of our property *MUST arrive before dark My husband, Peter Kitchell, and I are artists and have lived here for almost 32 years. Peter has carefully cultivated and nurtured the land, which includes building the Pondhouse with Hemlock trees from our woods. We have three buildings (our home and studios) a two minute walk from the Pondhouse. We are good at respecting our guest’s privacy but are also happy to chat and answer any questions. I've made a great list of places to eat (including dog friendly & vegan!) ** Having a special anniversary? Give us a budget and we can decorate with extra special things like flowers, treats, or whatever you'd like! This is truly an amazing place. ***PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING DESCRIPTION AND RULES BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION.*** We want to make sure that your stay meets your expectations... When making a request, please tell us a little about yourselves, your interest in the Pondhouse and indicate that you have read the full listing and house rules... Thank you!

  • Absolutely stunning location - weather was still wonderful and the fall scenery was beautiful to see from inside the pondhouse. We fell in love with Charlie too.

    Julia2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place. We went there for a weekend this October but unfortunately our stay was cut short due to a family emergency. Gayle was very understanding and has been working with us to reschedule the night we missed. I wish we could have stayed longer!

    Christina2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a long weekend at the Pondhouse, and it didn't disappoint us at all! We followed Gayle's directions, and it was really easy to find the place. Gayle's family is super friendly. It was simply soothing to sit back and relax here. Even though the temperature dropped to 30s at night, it was still cozy and warm snuggling with my friend under multiple layers of blankets Gayle provides. We would definitely love to come back and visit!

    Jessie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle was a sweetheart. It rained, and we weren’t as prepared as we thought for cold weather. So she gave us beanies, scarves, even boots to keep us warm and comfortable! And we had such a pleasure from the most friendliest and sweetest dog ever: Charlie. We love him!! 😃❤️

  • Quiet, romantic, back to nature, ... Our stay was exactly what we had hoped for!

    Maaike2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • I'm a regular in the tiny house / glamping scene and Gayle's place was right up there in top-of-the-list territory. Her Pondhouse is nestled in the unpretentious greenery at the bottom of her magnificent property at the end of a quiet country road. The pictures give you a good sense of the space but what you don't get is a sense of the magic that you feel inside the space with the sun streaming through the tall grasses and the quiet of the leaves falling on the metal roof. The pictures also don't tell you how wonderful the bed is and how soft the bedside rugs are. So many delightful touches. My teenage daughter and I stayed there for two nights. We had planned to go on some hikes in the area but in the end decided we couldn't tear ourselves away from the Pondhouse. We'll be back!

    Sara2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible weekend spent in Gayle's pond house. Every minute was a dream. the decor was beautiful and the nature even more so. We cooked out by the campfire, napped and read for hours in the cozy pondhouse bed, we explored the neighboring towns and hiked and ate well. All around a magical and romantic weekend with my new husband on my birthday!

  • Adorable studio space on a beautiful and scenic property. Would definitely recommend for a weekend getaway for two.

    Emma2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is an excellent host - attentive, helpful, and thoughtful. The studio is very cozy, and the property is stunning. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Western Massachusetts!

    Olivia2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely beautiful little cabin and surroundings. Mary’s garden is full of life, and near wonderful locations. Will try to come back to this magical place.

    Nicolas2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third visit to Mary's. Clean, beautiful and tranquil, under a moonless star filled night we saw a golden shooting star. Mary's cabin and gardens are magic. Thank you!

    Georgia2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Both my husband and I adored our whole stay at Mary's cabin! We were there for 2 nights on our minimoon following our wedding the previous day. We had just enough privacy in the cabin and the short walk to the bathroom attached to their barn made for a little adventure in itself. The land is beautiful and the local area follows suit. There was enough to do in the surrounding towns that made leaving the cabin for the day spontaneous between the small plans that we had made in nearby areas. We took an hour drive out to Clark Institute and Mass MoCA on one of the days we stayed there and it was such a blast. Mary's cabin is in a great location and she makes it feel like home with little touches. We had everything we needed, there was nothing extra or excessive, in her quaint and charming space and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We absolutely recommend her cabin for those who want to get away and explore beautiful Western MA. We hope to come back again and again!

  • I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay here. Having the balcony attached to the room with my own private bathroom was so ideal. It’s a cute small town with beautiful scenery and it was just a really nice get away.

    Theresa2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • A super awesome spot! More room than I realized, and the space is comfortable and well kept. It’s a little bit out of the way from anything “major”, unless you’re skiing/whatnot. Either way, I’d definitely stay again if I make my way back to MA and would 100% recommend Melody’s Place to a friend!

    Jenna2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures on the listing do not do this space justice. Room 3 is a beautiful space with nice separation between the sleeping and living area. A cute private little deck which I loved sitting on; I fully took advantage to get that crisp air into my lungs. The small fridge and coffeemaker were nice touches! The bed was nice and firm; sleeping was like being in heaven. Great host who was super friendly and helpful. Overall, I have no complaints at all and can't wait to go back!

  • Melody's Place was the perfect location for a wedding we were attending to locally. She was charming to talk to and our room was just as pictured and described.

BREAKING NEWS: Airbnb honors Cavalier Cottage with their 2017/2020 Superhost award! Trip Advisor has awarded Cavalier Cottage their 2014 and 2017 Certificate of Excellence! Discover Cavalier Cottage B&B, a pet-friendly home away from your home and an attractive alternative to conventional hotels, motels and B&B’s. We warmly welcome visitors who come to this beautiful area of Western Massachusetts with or without their companion animals. Now in its eighth year, Cavalier Cottage has clearly answered a need for genuinely pet-friendly accommodations. When I opened the cottage in 2012, I could not have imagined the variety of interesting people, and animals, I would meet. Nestled at the base of the Charlemont hills and located on a very quiet country road, Cavalier Cottage is appointed with everything you’ll need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. More than one guest has commented that the cottage and its setting seem to have a special air of tranquility that works a kind of magic: Most pets settle right in with no sense of strangeness, and their human companions find themselves absorbing the atmosphere of peace in their surroundings. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do in this very special corner of New England! The area is a four-season vacation destination, from foliage time in the autumn, through ski season into spring hiking time and summer holidays. Cavalier Cottage is convenient to the scenic Mohawk Trail (Route 2) and many outdoor activities: There are great hiking trails, downhill and X-country skiing, snow shoeing, river rafting, tubing, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, tennis, golf, biking, and rock climbing. The beautiful Massachusetts countryside, with its many quaint villages and towns, is also home to a great variety of iconic educational and cultural destinations, including MassMoCa, the Clarke Institute of Art and the Williams College Art Museum and many more. Cavalier Cottage is spacious, bright and comfortable. The live-in area is simply but graciously appointed, featuring ceiling to floor windows, oak laminate flooring, a queen size bed with a deluxe plush-firm Simmons mattress, private entrance and private deck. The fully equipped kitchen has an eat-in area with a full size stove and refrigerator (in case you want to cook-in), and a private bathroom. Relax on the private deck and enjoy the country view. For entertainment, you can access Netflix, Amazon, MHZ and Acorn show and movies streaming on the 32 inch flat panel TV, watch DishTV with over 200 channels, or play classic board games. To stay in touch with the outside world, the cottage is equipped with Wi-Fi. Park your car feet away from the cottage entrance. Amenities also include a delicious Continental breakfast of home baked English scones, a small but growing library, and a CD player with a collection of jazz and classical CD’s. As more guests have visited, many potential guests were unable to come because the dates they wanted were already booked. Because Cavalier Cottage can only accommodate one party of guests at a time, we highly recommend that if your desired dates are available, you secure the space by submitting a reservation, in order to avoid disappointment. Cavalier Cottage, a cottage for all seasons, is perfect for week-long vacations, weekend or mid-week getaways, writer’s retreats, house-hunting visits, and temporary lodging for relocated executives. • Patricia's place is a great way to take a break from city life. No cell service, which we didn't mind at all, but there is internet and she does have a landline if you need to make a call. Our pittie mix settled right in and was a very happy camper! Lots of privacy and the area surrounding the cottage is beautiful. This was a very last minute trip as our previous plans fell through due to inclement weather, so we definitely appreciated the last minute accommodations with our pup. There's plenty of hiking that isn't too far of a drive and if you're being super adventurous I would recommend looking up some breweries that allow dogs in their tasting room! Unfortunately, we stayed towards the beginning of the week when these businesses are usually closed, but it's something to check out if you're staying later in the week and have a velcro dog like ours. We definitely recommend Patricia's home, especially for those of us who travel with our pets!

    Sarah2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Patricias cottage was perfect for me and my daughter. Very cozy, family and pup/pet friendly. Very quaint, cute and stylish. Had all the amenities. Lovely country road with a walk right outside the door. Quick responses and easy accommodations. I would definitely stay again. Thank you Patricia!

    Sean2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very cheerful, welcoming and comfortable.. we loved our time here, and will be back!

    Audrey2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia's cottage was the perfect place for our winter country getaway. Very cozy, well decorated and furnished, and the perfect amount of space for me and my girlfriend. We loved the blue & white theme throughout, from rugs and blankets to tablecloth and kitchenware. The kitchen was well equipped for dining in. There was tea and coffee to keep us extra warm. We played classical music while eating and cooking. Excellent, friendly hospitality from such a wonderful host! Patricia had fresh English scones and orange juice ready for us every morning. Great bathroom shower. Flexible check-in. Quick, easy communication. And best of all, pet friendly! So we could bring our 14-year-old Chihuahua and keep the family together! Patricia has dogs of her own and keeps a website with photos of all her furry, four-legged guests! Such fond memories! Look forward to staying here again! Thanks again for everything Patricia! -Chris & Meyanna

    Chris2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Patricias home over New Years Eve. Her freshly baked morning scones and OJ were delicious and thoughtful and we loved our cozy home away from home. Having cable TV was great and the snowy road was perfect for walking our dog. The space is very small and the hosts dogs took quite an interest in our pup which caused a lot of ruckus whenever we went outside , but Patricia didn’t seem to mind when we came and went, so we carried on with our business. I would recommend this AirBnb to anyone who needs a nice quiet getaway for their dog!

    Chloe2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia and Cavalier Cottage was perfect for our weekend getaway. From the moment I booked until the moment we left, Patricia was available for any questions we had. Her amazing homemade scones and orange juice left for us every morning, comfortable, warm and inviting space and her absolute loveliness made this one of our new favorite Airbnb spaces. Looking forward to more visits with Patricia.

    Melissa2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't have been happier with our stay with Patricia. She was warm and welcoming, to us and to our 3 cats. Fresh scones and OJ each morning, lots of literature about area attractions, and a wonderful space to stay. Highly recommended!

  • Fantastic location. Pat is a wonderful host. Homemade scones every morning. Beautiful space. On a scale of 1 to 10. She scores a 20. It was wonderful to find a place we could take the dogs. Pat Thank you so much.

sweet and unique glamping on an organic farm! Rental includes 20’ rockwood roo hybrid camper with two queen beds and couch and table that convert to beds. Includes a bathroom with shower, exterior shower, fridge, freezer, microwave, stove, oven, propane heat and heated mattresses. Yurt is a unique structure that is modestly furnished and offers an additional bed and cozy woodstove. Sauna on site. set on 2.5 acre organic farm overlooking Berkshire East Resort and the Deerfield river valley.
This one of a kind 20’ yurt is made from saplings harvested from local forests. It features a cozy hearthstone woodstove. A mini fridge is available for use in the yurt. The 20’ camper also has a full fridge, stove, oven, microwave and basic cooking utensils.
The adventure capital of southern New England! We are located steps away from Berkshire East Ski Resort and Thunder Mountain downhill bike park. Down the hill one mile you will find the scenic Deerfield River with several rafting, kayaking and tubing companies located in town. 30 minutes to the West over breathtaking route 2 is the Massachusetts museum of contemporary art. 8 miles east brings you to the village of Shelburne Falls.
  • The pictures do not do the area/yurt justice. The yurt has a very good energy to it and is super cozy and welcoming. We didn’t meet the host but she was very communicable through messages. The foliage and scenery around Julia’s house was breathtaking. The only recommendations I have were to explain how the sauna works a little better because it didn’t get as warm as a typical sauna. Also, a light inside or in the front of the door (to the sauna) would be nice since the headlamps were really dim and most of the fake tea light candles were dead. This place was honestly so perfect though, we used the camper for more serious bathroom business and there was fresh water for teeth brushing etc so it was really the epitome of glamping.

  • What a great experience & adventure in a beautiful setting!

    Diane2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our time here! We enjoyed the conveniences offered by the availability of the camper (working bathroom and full kitchen) while staying in the beautiful yurt. The farm is gorgeous, and Julia was friendly, communicative, and informative. The area is beautiful, and offered an abundance of recreation and sightseeing opportunities very close by. Definitely recommend this experience!

    Amie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot. Nice and cozy. Loved getting to experience both a yurt and camper for options. Will go again.

    Parks2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s farm is nestled away in the mountains and has breathtaking views. The yurt is exactly as it looks in pictures—beautifully furnished and a private retreat! Julia met us and showed us how to use the water inside of the camper and where things were. We heard coyotes howling at night and could see the stars. I would definitely recommend staying here, whether you are just passing through (like us) or you are visiting Hawley for tubing/kayaking/hiking.

    Katy2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's farm was a beautiful, rustic experience. We enjoyed quiet walks in the woods, cooking at the firepit and my daughter loved the tricycle and play lawnmower. I recommend this listing to anyone looking to experience the berkshires while staying in a yurt or camper.

    Andre2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming space on a lovely farm. The yurt is a unique and fun space perfect for two on a cool evening. The owner is very responsive and helpful

  • Relaxing by the pellet stove, star gazing after by night, waking to mist on the lake, peaceful, beautiful, and just a few minutes from the deerfield river, ... perfect. Thanks so much Tara, we will be back!

    Scott2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tara's place is located in an idyllic location with gorgeous views of the lake right outside. The house is at the end of a private road shared by neighbors just beyond which is a park with playground, boating dock, and picnic sites. The place is removed from a town center if you're looking for a get-away, and yet close enough to North Adams to enjoy a lovely weekend at Freshgrass. Kitchen fully-equipped with all you'll need to eat in, just bring your own food and supplies.

    Ashley2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tara is a great host, very responsive. We really enjoyed her lake house. Three large bedrooms upstairs, a big kitchen/dining room/living room downstairs. The views are spectacular. So much to do (the beach is 1 minute walk from the house, with a playground, tennis courts, boat ride available on the lake, lots of hikes around the lake, fire pit by the lake, grill available). It was perfect to relax and enjoy some quiet time with the children. We will be back!

  • This place is older, but well-maintained and very clean. The house has plenty of space and the location is GORGEOUS! We had a great time relaxing and hanging out in such a beautiful setting.

    Emma2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a marvelous time at Tara's cottage. The house is very comfortable and pleasant. The living spaces are well set up, the kitchen well appointed, and the beds are very comfortable. Everything is clean and all the necessities are provided. The view of the lake from the property is beautiful, and we enjoyed using the boats to explore the lake. The location is fantastic! The house is next to Rowe's town beach, which is meticulously maintained, and has a weed-free swim area with swim platform, kayaks, paddle boards, and life vests. The beach was never too crowded, even on the hot weekend. Tara responded to all my questions quickly, and was very friendly- it felt like I was a guest at a friend's house. My teenagers have already asked to go back again. Thanks from my entire family, Tara.

Your lovely peaceful apartment shares a wall with our 1794 farmhouse, has a screened porch with the best views of the property, and a Nespresso coffee maker. Enjoy the tranquility but still be only 2.4 miles from the center of Ashfield, 30 minutes from Northampton (Smith College) and Old Deerfield, less than 20 minutes to Berkshire East Mountain Resort, 30 minutes to Notchview for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Please come and share our special slice of heaven.
Your apartment is 2 1/2 miles to Elmer’s, home of the best pancakes in New England (Yankee Magazine), the Ashfield Hardware Store (where you can actually find everything you need), which is right next store to Country Pie Pizza (really good pizza) which is right down the road from the Ashfield Lake House, the best place to grab a meal and a beer. We are also 20 minutes to Berkshire East Mountain Resort and about 30 minutes to Notchview which is great for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Ashfield has a number of hikes of varying levels of difficulty but none of them are too difficult. You can get to one of those hikes right from the back of our property and it goes down to a 300 year old burial ground deep in the woods. We are also a stone’s throw from Bear Swamp which is a Trustees of Reservation site, as well as Chapel Falls, another Trustees site. Down the road from the farm about 5 miles is the DAR Reservation which has public swimming and places to put in your flotation devices - lots of ways to be outside. We are within 30 minutes from Smith College (Renee’s alma mater) and a little longer to UMass/Amherst. We are about 45 minutes to Mass MOCA in Adams, and 1 hour to Lee, Lenox and Tanglewood.
  • Renee and Harry are such gracious hosts. I've stayed here several times now. The apartment is delightful and the town and surrounding area is just beautiful. Highly recommend.

    Leah2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Secluded and comfortable. A great gateway with helpful and knowledgeable hosts.

    Tarik2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The locations just beautiful, lovely views everywhere. I would definitely enjoy the screened porch in a warmer season. Inside, the space is very nicely done, and sparkling clean. We appreciated the farm fresh eggs and cream in the fridge. Perfect spot for a quiet getaway, and not too far from Shelburne Falls for restaurants and shops.

    Emil2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at Renee and Harry's. They were especially hospital and made sure we had everything we needed, including eggs from their hens!

    Anne2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Renee and Harry are helpful, friendly and very gracious hosts! Communication was outstanding and they made us feel very much at home. They showed us how to work the heat and the Nespresso machine and were kind to leave coffee, milk and fresh eggs for us. The apartment was well-equipped with big & plush bath towels and plenty of extra blankets. Their kindness in making sure that we were happy and comfortable meant a lot to us as we were in Ashfield to celebrate our son's wedding. I highly recommend Renee and Harry's place.

    Linda2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was better than expected. Great location, beautiful scenery, not far from local dining and sights. My wife and I spend a weekend here for our anniversary and it was picture perfect, especially in the fall. Great place for taking a weekend away from it all.

    Chris2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • My husband surprised me with this stay for my birthday and I loved every minute of it! Renee and Harry’s place is completely charming, lovely and comfortable. It’s the perfect place to decompress and enjoy nature. I can’t think of a better place to visit and highly recommend it. We hope to go back again soon!

    Sandra2019-10-09T00:00:00Z

A two level loft apartment walking distance to Shelburne Falls. Private, simple, unique, cute, and efficient. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet with the notable exception of a nearby train intersection. 4-6 times in a given 24 hour period there'll be a loud train whistle. Please see Covid-19 update in "Other things to note..."
This space is most comfortable for one or two people. There is a spare bed which I will set up upon request so that a third person may be added. The Apartment has an open ceiling in the kitchen area and a winding stair leading to the living and sleeping area. The upstairs has three different levels: one exiting to the back deck, one a reading area, and the third level is the television area. (In the event that the memory foam mattress needs to be set up it will be in the TV area of the apartment.) The Queen size bed is on the floor but from the 1st level height it will feel like a normal height bed. Ceilings are low on the 2nd floor...watch your head... Kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, etc.... There are some basic food items like olive oil, butter, eggs, 1/2 and 1/2, tea, coffee, cereal/oatmeal, and so on. On the back deck you'll find a small grille and in the tree line I have steel fire ring for an evening fire (wood provided).
Shelburne Falls is a quaint town. There are several restaurants in town and easy access to museums, hiking, mountain biking, etc... There is a laundromat about a 5 minute drive from here and a natural food store the same distance (4 minute drive).
  • Justin was very thoughtful with his communication! He messaged to reassure us that everything would be extra clean amid the Corona virus outbreak. We enjoyed the tips he suggested and I even bought some of the glasses he keeps in the loft from local artists! Thank you for a wonderful stay! Rebecca

    Rebecca2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, lovely space for 1-2 people, very clean! Very comfortable! Extra touches of organic food on the shelves and in the refrigerator. Great location - 10 min. walk to downtown.

    Beryl2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Justin’s place. We just stayed for the night, but would’ve loved to stay longer. The place is super cozy and cute, close to all the whole spots in town. Justin also provides quite a few food staples which is very generous we made a nice breakfast, and he gave some great advice. good hikes in the area!

    Kim2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I planned a two week snowboarding trip. This was our second stop, and we stayed one night. As home renovators, we loved the design and thoughtful features throughout this little apartment. Nice glassware, an assortment of teas, and coffee are available. The host was quick to respond to my messages. The only negative I would say is the incredibly tiny bathroom sink that was virtually unusable. We used the kitchen sink to brush our teeth and perform our facial hygiene. Also, there is not a washer and dryer present within the apartment (just an FYI).

    Cat2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific overnight stay at Justin's place. Snug, clean, and simple. A perfect spot from which to launch our ski day.

    Janel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing place to stay!

    Joshua2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The space was very cute. I chose it because I liked the loft and it was exactly what I expected it to be. There was local/organic food in the kitchen area, which was a very thoughtful touch. Justin has snowshoes outside which we did not use but I thought was a cute idea. It is walkable to the downtown area. I would return here for another trip.

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. Justin truly thought of everything: from food and coffee in the kitchen to extra blankets and pillows in the bedroom. Super cozy, comfy place. Thanks Justin!

  • This house has everything you could ever need. Full stocked for a wonderful stay with a large family. Great amenities. Molly and Perry provided all the information we needed and more. Would definitely recommend for a ski get away, but we are also hoping to come back in the summer time as well!

  • We had a wonderful time! The house was clean, organized and ready for a beautiful stay. Hosts were the best! They provided us with endless tips and ideas about the area and the house. Our kids love staying at the house! The played outside and loved their bedrooms. We will come back for sure.

    Yehudit2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Helpful communication made first - time use of Airbnb easy, and checking in/checking out was a breeze. Great suggestions regarding local sights and amenities. Wonderful, peaceful location for nature lovers; the trail around the pond behind the house is especially beautiful.

    Katie2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at Molly’s house! We rented it for ourselves and our children and grandchild for a family weekend getaway. We enjoyed the well-appointed kitchen and the fire pit for after dinner somemores. Beds were comfy. The little beach down the street was great, but there are also many places to swim and hike in the area. The zip line looks fun, as do the white water rafting places. The Berkshires have a million things to do.

    Chris2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for our family getaway, with two young children. The kiddos loved playing with the toys and large children’s book collection, and our four-year-old triumphantly finished the mile hike around the pond. We made s’mores at the fire pit, relaxed in the hammock, and ate fresh berries and veggies from the garden. Responses were quick and thorough. Great stay!

    Breawna And Tom2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Molly’s place over the last three days. The house was as described, easy check-in and promo responses on any matters. The place was very spacious with enough sleeping rooms for 10 of us. They also had a lot of toys, puzzles and blocks to make our little ones busy. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. We used the propane grill and it was flawless. They have so many things to get you engaged but due to kids we didn’t use ‘em all. Plus, the rafting, kayaking & zip-line was less than 10 miles which was nice. Oh! almost forgot to mention that you and pick veggies and fruits from the garden if you wish to do so. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a private and quiet getaway (provided that they have several ring and other security cameras all around the house). Bottomline, it’s worth the buck and I would definitely go again.

    Jay2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Plainfield house is a wonderful place to stay. This was our second time here; we previously stayed about 4 years ago. It was great to come back and see the improvements Molly and the house manager Perry have made. The lake on the property is very peaceful and we took the kayaks out on the water on several mornings. The proximity to Plainfield Pond for a swimming beach is also a plus. There are plentiful sleeping locations and this allowed our family of four to be there along with my dad and sister. One thing to be aware of, which isn’t really a negative, is the house does not have cell phone signal. There is WiFi and a house phone, but lacking cell signal does affect your communication options. Overall, we would recommend this home if you have a reason to be in the area. We will certainly be back again in a few years.

    Diane2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A true gem. Kate and Debbys place has a lot of thoughtful and meaningful charm. They were easy to communicate with and shared plenty of insight. Would stay there again.

    Miguel2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Kate and Debby's place - it was a perfect weekend getaway for our group while we were skiing. The place was warm, stylish, extremely spacious and had everything we could have needed. Debby and Kate were great hosts, so welcoming and communicative. The accommodation easily slept 5 of us (two couples and a single) and would comfortably sleep a lot more people if needed. The large kitchen and dining table were great for everyone doing their own thing and for game night. There was only one bathroom but the toilet was separate as was the shower so at least 3 people could use the bathroom at one time - super smart design! We would highly recommend staying at Kate and Debby's place and would definitely stay here again.

Summer is here. Nestled in the woods of enchanting rural Ashfield, this stunning contemporary artsy home offers solitude, serenity and spaciousness. Set off the beaten path in the Berkshire foothills, it is a perfect base for outdoor adventure seekers while still close to towns, rivers, lake and galleries. Inside, cozy up, stay cool, relax, read, enjoy the library, breeze on the porch, take a sauna, spin vinyl, or explore and create through movement, dance, art or music in the dedicated studio.
The Sunrise Room is a large bright room, overlooking the forest, at the end of a private hall, with a fridge, a collection of books, and everything you need for a wonderful vacation or retreat. The private bath is located on this private hall. This is Birch Haven, and we are committed to providing you a unique, comfortable, and—according to your wish and desire—very private experience. Our home is an art piece packed with original limited edition photographs, vintage relics, cultural artifacts and international oddities. (See photographs and captions for details and descriptions.) It is also a child-friendly home. It is a three level structure with a large basement workshop, and the first floor (dedicated for use by guests) and second floor (where hosts will withdraw to) provide ample space to enable guests to have a comfortable and very private stay. We can discuss your use of the bright skylighted kitchen to prepare meals if you so desire. Our home is clean, tidy, tastefully decorated, and beautiful. We are a shoes-off household (so bring your slippers or wool socks, if you like). Custom built in the early 1990's using oak, maple, and cherry woods cut and milled on site, this unique home with nine foot ceilings, adobe walls and tasteful hardwood features offers an inspiring provocative dreamy spaciousness. The kitchen has a lovely skylight window and the living room with fireplace is surrounded by a huge screened in porch with another skylight, and as with the "Sunrise" room the many large windows provide bright sunshine inside and contemplative views to the outside. The "Sunrise Room" (looking out over the forest) and the "Butterfly Room" (off the main entry hall) are spacious bedrooms with double beds fitted with country quilts and comforters. Each room has ample space to unpack and store clothing or personal items, a dresser or closets, a desk or table, and a collection of interesting books. There is also ample space in either or both rooms for an air mattress or other additional floor sleeping arrangements. We also have a separate Airbnb listing to rent the whole house. The are several chess sets, marble, checkers, a few board games and playing cards available. There is no TV or cable. Internet is available with wireless throughout the house. Children's toys and books could be available on request. The spacious first floor bathroom has a luxurious large shower and this (first floor) bathroom will be exclusively for guests' use. (The deep soaking luxurious bathtub located on the second floor could be made available upon special request. See photo.) The house offers many fine architectural details and extensive custom workmanship. Please note that our space is fragrance free whenever possible. Please refrain from using perfumes, colognes, soaps and shampoos that are scented. The movement/dance/music studio space is a delight and a blast, whether you choose to use it for reflection or expression, and has a dedicated music system, a balance beam, a yoga fabric swing, a regular swing, and an exercise floor matt. There is also a large vintage vinyl collection—for hippies or Luddites or mere music connoisseurs. There is also an infrared sauna for a relaxing salubrious sweat. Outside you can explore the wonders of the forest, the budding spring and expansive hay fields, and the natural history of New England stone walls, architecture, covered bridges and old farms. The second highest home in town, the property offers views to 3166 foot Mount Manadnock in New Hampshire. These explorations outside are complemented by the extensive library and unique artifacts available for contemplation or study inside, your respite from it all where you can nestle up and read, reflect or connect with yourself, a sweetie, or a friend by fireplace or wood stove (winter) or enjoy the huge airy screened in porch. Ashfield Lake, the Lake House and Elmer's Restaurant are just a few minutes away. Please note that the driveway to this house is a dirt drive that requires guests pay strict attention to their speed and navigate to avoid the occasional ruts or stones.
Ashfield is a small, quiet town, and mostly shuts down after dark. The grand exception being the lovely Ashfield Lake House, offering fine food, pool tables and a tavern atmosphere. Also in Ashfield is Double Edge Theater, providing many excellent productions every season. Only 15 minutes away is downtown Shelburne Falls, another real working New England town with an arts scene, bowling lanes, theater, restaurants, shops and natural wonders. There is downhill skiing at Berkshire East (14 mins) and you are an hour from Vermont ski resorts. Snow-shoeing and cross county skiing happen just out the door, and not far from extensive cross-country skiing facilities. Wildlife is abundant, but elusive, offering naturalists, trackers and photographers the challenge of spotting mammals and birds while roaming about outside the house or exploring the wilder-ness of Bear Swamp conservation area. The house itself is completely private on a dead end country road. There are no trains, few planes and no automobiles to disturb your solitude, yet in 40 minutes you can be in the heart of the sprawling Five College area of the Connecticut River Pioneer Valley and its abundant restaurants, shops, galleries and historic sites. MASS MOCA, Tanglewood, and many other fine attractions of Western Massachusetts are also about an hour away.
  • Spacious and clean house, offered peace and quiet I needed. Kieth is a great host. I will recommend it to anyone.

  • A big big house hidden in nature. The scenery is fantastic and the interiors breathtaking - the house itself is a piece of art. The room is super cozy and although it was a cold weekend of November, we were very comfortable inside. The house features great amenities, including a wonderful kitchen and a big yoga / stretching room. Keep in mind that the room is private- the rest of the house is shared with Keith's family and other guests. Keith was very accommodating with all our needs and questions and made sure we had a great experience. Perhaps in rainy/snowy days, an SUV might be helpful but honestly, we had no problem accessing with a compact car. Great gem: the record player + records collection! Oh, and the books!

    Demetra2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying in Keith's beautiful, very spacious, exceptionally clean and comfortable home. It is a peaceful, somewhat secluded place, wonderful for a get-a-way for a restful stay or for a base to explore the area. There is secure WiFi which is very helpful. It is delightful to be able to comfortably walk barefoot on all the wood floors. The big open kitchen area is a joy to cook in (with agreed permission) and has so much wonderful space for preparing food with pots, pans, utensils and tools handy and well organized. A unique perk is Keith's stereo record player set-up with a nice collection of records which includes some nice folk rock from the 70's like JT, Simon & Garfunkel, and Joni Mitchell. There are many books, various works of art, unique artifacts thoughtfully displayed and plants throughout the house which make every room interesting and enjoyable. There is also a yoga room and sauna. Keith is a superb, very attentive, (but non-intrusive) thoughtful and responsive host giving good detailed directions, keeps good communication with quick replies and excellent suggestions about the local area. Keith and his wonderful house made this (my first airbnb) experience very positive. I am happy to give very high recommendations to Keith and his lovely home in the peaceful woods.

  • Keith is a warm and thoughtful host. He was incredibly responsive to questions and communications. His home is just lovely - so quiet and peaceful. There are many thoughtful and creative touches. It's truly a wonderful place for a retreat - especially if you love nature or art.

    Dori2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Keith’s home is esoterically beautiful, artful, and filled to the brim with worldly knowledge, culture, and wisdom. It’s the kind of home that makes me stop and marvel at the Airbnb experience for broadening my world and connecting me to new people and ways of living. The house is expansive and situated in the middle of nature, and offers an exquisitely quiet retreat experience. (It also has a sauna and large yoga studio.) We used his kitchen to cook meals and spent our days exploring the area and hiking. Keith is a thoughtful, kind, and generous host who made us feel very welcome. We are so grateful that he shared his amazing selection of books, his home, and his presence with us.

  • Keith is a wonderful host with a lovely home in a peaceful and gorgeous setting! Highly recommend!

    Wendy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Keith’s place was a real blessing. We got to enjoy the blissful serenity of the quiet outdoors and experience real peace for what felt like the first time in ages, at a time when we really needed it. It brings to mind a passage from Thoreau’s journals: “To be calm, to be serene! There is the calmness of the lake when there is not a breath of wind. . . So it is with us. Sometimes we are clarified and calmed healthily, as we never were before in our lives... so that we become like a still lake of purest crystal and without an effort our depths are revealed to ourselves. Such clarity!” My girlfriend, Molly, also stayed with me. This is what she has to say: Looking for a relaxing, rejuvenating experience nestled in the tallest and greenest trees? Look no further than this beautiful and funky oasis Airbnb. The shower is as big as a bedroom in and of itself. The decor and interior design is really something to admire as well as experience. It’s eclectic, colorful, and sophisticated. Keith is a great host and really encourages you to make yourself at home in the place. The driveway is long so be careful with your car and go slow. You must go eat at Elmer’s where the food is some of the best breakfast I’ve ever had in my entire life. The pancakes are rated top-five of anywhere in the world, so they say, from a professional pancake taster who traveled the globe. The fruits and veggies at the farmers market were the most fresh produce I’ve ever tasted. There’s so many books to read and records to listen to at this house. After my boyfriend and I went to this weekend getaway, we felt rejuvenated in our mind, soul, body, and spirit. This may be one of our favorite AirBNBs we have ever stayed at. It’s not one to be missed!

    Justin2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • I'm very pleased with this place and Keith's hospitality. The room is decorated in a style. It is really bright and sunny in the morning and throughout the day. Tranquility and freshness of the morning forest after rain (I kept windows open) is worth a fortune. This is something you really appreciate when live long years in a big city. Entire house is quite big. Tall ceilings and skylights make the space airy. There're common areas: living room and kitchen. Kitchen has a slide glass door to a backyard. Kitchen is naturally bright and well equipped, there's everything you need to cook a meal. Also Keith kindly offered a studio to do gym and yoga. I enjoyed my stay here very much. If I happen to be in this area again, Keith's place is my first choice.

This space is the Bonus Room in a large log home overlooking Berkshire East Mountain Resort. Guests have shared access to the kitchen, hot tub, full bath and laundry. You'll have sole access to the bonus room and private bath. Space is comfy and charming, accessible from a private staircase or spiral into the main house's entrance hall. The review mentioning rodents has been addressed by an active pest management program. Occurred due to a unique situation of weather and open doors.
Blocked through April due to COVID19. Large cathedral ceiling space on a paved road less than 3 miles from Berkshire East Ski Area, Thunder Mountain Bike Park, Zoar Outdoor, Dubuque State Forest and Charlemont Center. Walking trails to the bubbling Bozrah Brook with several private places, ideal to cool off in.
Nice views from the main house deck, woodland animals often seen from the back decks frolicking in the woods.
  • We had another great stay at Harold's place. This was our second stay so we knew what to expect. For us it's a cozy place very close to the ski mountain. Hoping to come back again. Thanks Harold!

  • One of the previous reviews mentioned that it was similar to staying at a friend's house. I would say this is a very good way to describe the accommodations. If you are looking for a hotel style experience, you will be disappointed. However, it does match the way everything was described. The owner was helpful, quick with communication, and seemed friendly, though I did not get a chance to meet him face to face. The room has plenty of space, and the location is great for spending time at Berkshire East.

    Raymond2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Harold's house. The loft is spacious, well lit, cozy- beds are good, pillows and blankets are soft. The house is located very close to Berkshire East mountain which has sports and activities for all seasons. Hot tub is a great bonus and so relaxing after a day of mountain sports. Harold is quick to respond to any questions and is a great host. Definitely recommend and we would love to stay again soon!

  • This was our 2nd trip and our stay was great!! Such a wonderful area And the Berkshire mtn was beautiful and making snow!!

  • We stayed for a long weekend to go biking at thunder mountain bike park. We had a great time, it was exactly what we needed for our group and very close to the hill! I had to reach out a few times during our stay and Harold was quick at responding which was greatly appreciated.

  • We had an excellent time staying at Harold’s place he was friendly and accommodating we will be back again

    Travis2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Harold's place is perfect for relaxing. It was like being at a friend's mountain cabin. It is not a pristine hotel, but a cozy, comfy retreat. The archetecture and layout of the house is beautiful. We slept in one of the queen beds, and it was super comfy! Wi-Fi worked great, and the hot tub was incredibly relaxing. We cooked out on the grill while the sun went down. We would definitely return!

    Heather2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Harold's place was great. We booked for 8 people, but only had 6 stay. Space was very large and a perfect spot for a multigenerational stay. We weren't on top of each other. It worked nicely as a base camp for mountain adventures without all the work of camping. Privacy screens for sleeping if you so chose. Coffee station, mini fridge and deck grill were very helpful. There was a fun keyboard and plenty of games for indoor and a nice yard and a fire pit in a lovely mountain home. The hot tub was an added bonus and star gazing from the hot tub greenhouse and the suit balcony was gorgeous. Harold was responsive and helpful. It felt like we were staying at a family member's home. We did not see the host or his family, but I bet it would have been a pleasant if we did. On top of it all, it was a great value! In my opinion better than a resort, for less money. If you have a group, this is the place to stay!!

Brand new Katahdin cedar log home. With tranquil view and sound of Pelham brook. Minutes from Berkshire east ski resort. Great place to vacation for hiking, skiing, mountain biking, fly fishing or tubing the Deerfield river. It is just at the end of the road.
Check out our page "Bear Creek Cabin" (Charlemont) online to view the build progress and visitor posts/photos.
If you are the adventurous type there are plenty of hiking opportunities. I would recommend a 20 minute drive to savoy state forest and check out the waterfall. If you go in the back way (shortest road on the map) you can drive and park pretty close to it. Driving the long way in will require a 4x4. As you turn onto Zoar rd to come here keep an eye to the rocks on your right you may see the opening to one of the small caves. It is usually full of water. But 100 feet or so to the left down the road if you look real good you will find a small hole in the ground. If you dare drop down inside. It is a beautiful cave. Not too big but just enough to brag about. Ps, there is a bat that lives there. So don't wake him. He is harmless.
  • Beautiful cabin with quick access to East Berkshire ski resort.

  • This is such an amazing place to stay. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and we loved the location from Berkshire East ski mountain. The fireplace and views made for a comfortable stay. Joseph2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Aldo is an extraordinary host! You will be more than pleased with his outstanding hospitality. The house was extremely cleanly, and had so much space and bedrooms. He went out of his way to cut a path for us to have straight access to the river to tube, and left firewood/paper for us to have a quaint fireside by the river at night. The location was perfect you could walk right across the street to the Cold River cafe, to Zoar adventures for zip lining or go right up the street for tubing! We have stayed in many air b and b homes and have to say this is by far our favorite!! You will not be disappointed!

  • Beautiful small cabin with nice views, amazing host who was always available if anything was to be needed. The place was SPOTLESS, I'm talking not even a hair anywhere to be seen. Perfect spot for a getaway into the woods of western mass, privacy and quiet surroundings. I will stay again if I am in the area again. Thanks so much Harold!

  • Staying at "the camp" was a fantastic experience! Everything was clean and well maintained. The pictures do not do it justice. Harold and Diane were very easy to reach in the case of questions and left a list of recommendations in the local area. There is very little to no cell service so it was great to disconnect, however there is WiFi. The full kitchen was so convenient to make a meal in without having to leave the cabin to travel to get dinner. We can't wait to come back in the fall!

  • We had an amazing weekend at Paul’s house. The space was cozy and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing! The food that was made available for us in the fridge and the kitchen was a nice touch that provided a healthy and delicious breakfast. Paul is a gracious host who was available if we needed him, but respected our privacy. I highly recommend this listing as a comfortable, affordable place to stay near the ski/mountain biking resort.

    Rachel2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, excellent location and facilities. Lovely dawn or dusk hot tubs to help you balance mind and spirit. Such a peaceful and tranquil location. A great retreat for R&R and really great amenities and local groceries well stocked by a great host, Paul.

    Matt2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect location for mountain biking, road biking, river floating and enjoying the Berkshires. Adjacent to the Berkshire East ski area and trail system and to the Kenneth Dubuque Forest and the Hawley Floating Bog. Paul is a wonderful host!

    Diana2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place was wonderful. Tidy and with all you could want for a enjoyable stay. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast supplies were varied and tasty. His home is sited in a beautiful area. You could just sit on the deck with a coffee, or glass of wine, a book, and listen to the brook, breath the fragment air, and take in the wonderful view and not move all day.

    Alison2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Apt was great, I advised Paul of a wasp nest outside the main door which he was not aware of. Being allergic I was concerned but made sure I was careful and aware going in and out. Hopefully Paul can take care of that for future guests. A glitch in the alarm system made for the alarm going off but Paul responded and after a short time it was disarmed and no longer an issue. The Apt itself was great, fresh fruit, granola, eggs, coffee, etc, all provided by Paul. Paul was courteous and respectful of my privacy. The surrounding area was great for a morning stroll or to just sit by the brook and reflect. I was in the area to visit Thunder Mtn Bike Park and this location was perfect for my trip. I will def book with Paul again for my next trip to the Park.

    Robert2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, quiet and peaceful and hot tub! Paul is a wonderful host and the apartment has everything you need. Location is beautiful and serene with a babbling brook outside.

  • We had a wonderful stay on Dennis & Robin's property! They were very welcoming and provided us with cheese & crackers upon arrival; gave us suggestions for nearby hikes and places to eat. We loved the tent and especially the little wood stove that kept us warm on a chilly October evening! I would say that it would be useful to get Dennis & Robin's contact information outside of Airbnb upon your initial messaging as there is a little bit of glitch in communication between Tentrr the organization and Dennis/Robin seeing messages. Other than that we had a wonderful little weekend getaway and would return anytime!

    Kat2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Dennis and Robyn were OUTSTANDING hosts, they provided many more amenities that were even listed by Tentrr and made our stay memorable. It was a peaceful camp site, up a hill and secluded in the woods. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and so should you.

Pink Victorian on Main Street in Charlemont MA . 2nd floor room with queen bed and one twin bed. Shared bath. Massachusetts is now a legal state to buy recreational Marijuana we support our out of town guests shopping. Fall is approaching book soon for the best leaf peeping in Massachusetts! Book early for snow sports at Berkshire East just 1 mile away!
Room looks out over Berkshire East Mountain. Room is on the front of the house 2nd floor hall bath.
    Very friendly safe area.
  • As described, a cute clean house no more then 10 minutes from Berkshire East resort. The place has a very quaint feel to it, with the cutest touches. This would be an excellent place to book multiple rooms if available for a group thing, 2 max per room. It’s one of the few gems that’s not found on the slopes or at the resort. Great spot.

  • Melody was so nice, it made my boyfriend and I’s first trip to Massachusetts wonderful. She gave great tips where to eat and shop, sights to see like the amazing bridge of flowers. We only stayed one night but it was the best time. It was like home away from home. We both loved it and will definitely be back!

    Alissa2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Melody's Place is just as described. The room next to me was empty so I didn't really have to share the shared bathroom, but I think it would have been fine. There's no AC, but the fan kept me cool and it had been in the 80s all day. Melody was very responsive and friendly. I would recommend staying here.

  • Beautiful place with a beautiful view. Highly recommend!

    Jonathan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • It is a lovely, classic old New England house that is quite comfortable and functional. Also, we appreciated our host's flexibility when our plans changed.

  • Clean, quiet, lovely place, cute animals. :)

  • Melodys’s was a great host. Very good communication and accommodation. The space was nice, clean, and bright. Even better than the pictures suggest. Would definitely recommend this space to anyone staying in Charlemont.

A review says it best; "It's like you're a visiting Garden Goddess (or God!), connecting with and blessing all the vegetables and flowers. Soft rainfall in the night made it extra refreshing and luscious. The futon bed, with sumptuous quilts and fine cotton sheets, was super comfortable. The simplicity and charm cannot be beat in my book! It's a tiny town, and I was able to walk to my dinner rendezvous, visit the bridge of flowers, and find my morning coffee and pastry, easily and joyfully!"
This is a private garden shed in my upper backyard. Meant only for those who are adventurous and enjoy rustic accommodations. Windows and curtains on 3 of 4 sides. with 2 sides getting natural ventilation if wanted. A steep stone stairway leads you to the upper garden where the Garden shed (aka G-shed) looks out on the garden and the surrounding hills and town center which is within walking distance. A full size futon bed awaits with fresh sheets and towels provided. Bathroom available in the main house on the second floor with bath/shower. Shed has views of vegetable garden, The bridge of flowers and the Deerfield River. Although no heat is provided (yet as of Aug 2016) there is an ample amount of wool and down comforters at your disposal for colder climes.
Shellburne Falls is a wonderful little village with many delicious restaurants and artisans studios. The bridge of flowers ,glacial potholes are some of The natural attractions will see here in town. We are 10 minutes from Berkshireast ski resort with mountain biking, zip lining and mountain coaster and Zoar Outdoor, Crab Apple white water rafting. We have some of the best motorcycle as well as bicycling roads in the Northeast.
  • The cabin is such an adorable place. If you want to experience the magic of New England, stay there!

    Amy2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • As other reviewers have said, this is a charming shed, very clean with a comfortable cozy bed full of quilts and an enormous down comforter. It feels like glamping. The location is very central and convenient. I enjoyed sitting on the little porch reading, journaling and enjoying the beautiful scenery. A great co-op, and wonderful restaurants in walking distance makes for a lovely stay. I will say that it is located on a main road and I found that traffic began early in the morning and the noise made it difficult for me to sleep (stayed here in summer with windows wide open). I would bring ear plugs next time...and I would stay here again as the rustic charm outweighs the traffic noise for me.

    Amy2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Second time around was just as good as the first. Having the opportunity to get to Shelburne Falls again, this was the only place that came to mind. And rightfully so. The shed was just as comfortable as I remember it being. And even with the temperatures being hot for New England standards, the combination of natural ventilation and the fan in one of the open windows helped to keep it nice and cooled it off well at night. Kelly, as always, was wonderful with communication in the leadup to and during the visit. Still very highly recommended. Shame it took me three years to get back, but I'm happy I did.

    Michael2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • You can sit on the shed's little porch at night, looking out over Shelburne Falls, and have a glass of wine while you watch the fireflies come out - something I haven't seen for awhile. It's a sweet place and the house - where you journey for the bathroom - is just lovely - with beautiful hardwood floors, a working loom in the living area and a clawfoot tub in the bathroom! Also the location can't be beat - you can walk into Shelburne Falls in minutes - or take the Bridge of Flowers route and take a little more time to absorb the beauty. Thank you Kelly!

    Susan2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique spot in Shelburne Falls. A very simple place to lay your head. Kind of like camping.

    Louisa2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a must-stay expereince. It is right in town, but in the cabin, you feel like you are in the enchanted woods in the Berkshires. The bedding (i.e. the down comforter) was sublime. It was such a cute authentic Berkshire expereince. Now having discovered the cabin, I think I will be a regular staying there on my short vacations to the New England!

    Amy2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • You haven't lived until you've slept in the Garden Shed! If you're adventurous, you can't beat the price or the location. The view of the stars on a clear night is to die for and I woke up both mornings to a view over the sunflowers of mists of fog in the valley over the river. It's like camping but much more comfortable.

    Dan2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • I made a last minute request, which Kelly accepted and made ready for me. You can expect quiet and calm — most of the time! A couple trains came chugging by during the night, but that’s part of the charm of this little town.

  • This place was so much better than expected, and we already expected it would be amazing! It was an absolute dream and in the most magical Vermont setting. The space was very clean and so comfortable. It really felt like home for our three snowy nights there. It is definitely secluded and the woods surrounding are a pleasure to stroll through. The wood stove inside was a huge plus. Check in and out were a breeze. We want to stay again!

  • Great cottage with lots of cooking utensils, pots/pans, etc. We loved that there was good firewood on hand to sustain a three night stay. Only wish is that there were better curtains/blinds on some of the windows for when it got dark. Super clean and easy to find, great heat and hot water pressure. Thank you!

  • Melody’s place is a gem. Inside, there’s a quaint nook for snacks. Then there’s the kitchen area, adequate for preparing small meals. The bed area, with a desk and chair, then a full bath. Lots of homey odds and ins. Perfect for a few day’s getaway. The deck is lovely. View of a wooded hillside. Wildlife seems abundant, birds and so on.

  • Great place to spend the night. Easy and clean.

    Graham2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We ended up not making it to Melody's due to an emergency with our dog. However, she was super accommodating and excellent with her communication.

    Taylor2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time staying at Melody’s place . The room was very clean and comfortable . It’s a great place to get away and relax .

    Andrew2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Melody's place is THE place to stay in Western Mass. My girlfriend and I drove up to get away from NYC and see what all this recreational hubbub is all about. Not only were we within minutes of the river and park, but we were also less than a half hour drive from several dispensaries, a couple were even closer. She allows smoking on the deck, and boy did we take advantage of that. Melody keeps a very clean place, and was very helpful with local tips and advice. The quiet hours allowed us to enjoy the deck late at night without any disturbance. We'll be going back any time we visit the state!

    Alex2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed the stay at Melody’s. Very clean and quiet place to relax over the weekend. Will definitely visit again.

    Sowmya2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Melody was great and the space (#4) was perfect for what I needed. I asked to check in a bit early in order to get to an event and Melody communicated very quickly and was very accommodating. She had the space all prepared for me with (new) fans going to keep it cool on a very hot day. She gave me a number of great suggestions of things to do nearby before my event started again the following day, which I did and enjoyed very much. The space was clean and comfortable with a kitchen area, bedroom with some sitting space and bathroom as well as a deck are where you can sit if you choose. I would return if I was in the area again. The area was beautiful also..the drive from there to North Adams through the mountains was spectacular.

    Jim2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • I hope to get a chance to stay at this cute place. Melody was great about communication with very fast responses. My plans changed at the last minute and I didn’t make it to the actual place so I can’t comment on the space but really appreciate Melody’s flexibility and quick responses.

  • We've been visiting Charlemont for many years, usually staying with relatives. Accommodations are hard to find. We were delighted with our new "home away from home" and hope to return soon. The space has been lovingly restored and includes many thoughtful (and modern) touches. Kimberly even left goodies for our arrival. "I can't believe we're in Charlemont" was a frequent refrain.

The Railroad House is a cute attached converted barn in the village center with parking, private entrance, 2 floors, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, WiFI, but no television. It is located within just a minute's walk from the famous Bridge of Flowers. Other local attractions include several dining choices from a drugstore soda shop on up to 5-star dining, as well as the country's 2nd oldest bowling alley. On weekends you can often find live music. Train goes by twice/day on average.
Check out our vinyl collection! Use the turntable to adjust the atmosphere to your heart's content.
  • This was our third or fourth stay at the railroad house. We love the quiet, the canal, the wood rooms and the trains.

    Cassie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so great. We stayed here for 7 days while our bathroom was being remodeled and it was the perfect home away from home. It's really beautiful and cozy inside, with a great little sitting area by the turntable and hundreds of records. We drank wine and listened to Blondie and Merle Haggard and played board games on the rug. Everything is beautiful and cute and pleasant. The upstairs sleeping loft is so toasty warm and cozy, as is the gorgeous and clean little bathroom. The location is also excellent--you just pop down one block and you're in downtown Shelburne Falls, right by McCusker's (groceries) and all the restaurants/bars this little town has to offer. We also brought our dog and it is such a relief to know that there are cool places to stay in the area that allow pets. Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this spot--this is our second time renting it and we will definitely be doing so again!

  • Pat and Randy's place was a cozy little place that was perfect for a weekend getaway. • My boyfriend is a professional downhill bike rider, so we needed a place to stay proximate to Thunder Mountain for him to enjoy riding. This home is the perfect location! Very beautiful space & property, only 12 minutes from the mountain. There's a beautiful view of the pond across the street, where we saw a beaver, which was a very exciting experience! We enjoyed dinner in Shelbourne Falls, which was only about 15/20 mins away. Lark was very hospitable - we arrived very late the 1st evening, so he turned the heat on to ensure we were warm upon entrance. Thanks so much again and certainly look forward to staying again!

  • I would highly recommend this place. Lark calls it a cottage. Although it may look small from the outside, there are 3 bedrooms that are very spacey, 1 1/2 baths - 1 with a washer and dryer, a good size kitchen with plenty or counter space to work, a table that fit all 7 of us and would have fit more, a good size living room with a large couch that fit 5 Grandchildren, and I loved the little room off the downstairs bedroom - big bay window overlooking the pond - used for my crochet room (in peace). Way better than I had expected.

  • Beautiful pond with snowy egrets and herons, a peaceful brook and shady trees, and the perfect quiet road for a morning walk or run. This area of the Berkshires is stunningly beautiful, with ancient maple trees lining the roads, dark nights with starry skies, old farmhouses and many hills to walk. The house was quite comfortable for our crew of 5 adults, with ample kitchen space, nice beds, and quiet spots to sit and read.

  • Amazing stay, loved the tranquility, bunch of activities in the 30min drive range.

  • This is a charming house in a beautiful location. We enjoyed both the creek behind the house and the pond in front of it. This is a great place to relax and unplug from the world!

  • Very clean country cottage with great outdoor amenities steps outside the door. We all enjoyed the pond and creek. Great times were had by all!

Relax in our bright, very spacious, and quiet loft, on six open acres. Lounge on the stone terrace, under the stars, by a cozy fire, near the garden. 35 min to Northampton, 35 min to MassMoca, 10 min to Berk. East. Pellet stove, Fiber Optic Wi-Fi, Fubo streaming (via Amazon Fire Stick), and cell coverage. Fully outfitted kitchen, granola, milk, beverages. Two hybrid bikes available for use. There are 3, 5-ft long skylights, and a cathedral ceiling= much natural light!
The apartment has a queen sized bed, coffee maker (with coffee provided), plenty of pots, pans and utensils, and a 39" HD TV with Fubo streaming service. There is fiber optic wifi with speeds up to 400 Mbps. The space is newly renovated with nine new windows, and new paint on the walls, ceilings, and floors. There are three, 5 foot long skylights on the slanted ceiling- one in the living room, one in the kitchen, and one in the bathroom. There are just about six acres of open field, which faces south/southwest, and a beautiful vegetable garden with stone terraces at both ends. We also built a Black Locust pergola at the south end of the garden, which sits atop a Goshen stone terrace (we just planted grapes, but they're still very short!). There is also a fire pit at one end of the garden, and an outdoor fireplace at the other end. There are flower gardens in several spots on the property. We are 100 yards from the public library, which, itself, has recently been upgraded in a major way. Our home also houses a one room post office (300 sq. feet), which is open from 12pm to 4pm, M-F, and 8:30am to 11:30am on Saturday. It's rarely busy...
Our house is centered in the Plainfield Historical district. Plainfield is a town of less than 600 people. Very nice walks and bike rides, right outside our front door! • Peter’s place was a great jumping off point for cross-country skiing in the area (we were coming up from outside NYC). Cozy spot with nice touches like a warm pellet stove and good granola and milk in the refrigerator when we arrived added up to a great weekend.

  • Peter’s place was a dream come true - everything about the apartment, land, and overall area was lovely! My boyfriend and I stayed for the weekend to see friends, ride mountain bikes, and visit Mass MoCA and it was conveniently located to everything. We felt right at home in this cozy space and will absolutely be back.

  • Stayed at this spot for a work trip and it was easy, clean, spacious, and had everything I needed. The location is beautiful and peaceful. Peter was attentive and easy to communicate with - even helped me out when I had some car trouble one morning. Thanks, Peter!

  • Very bright and cozy apartment with everything you need for cooking plus coffee, tea, granola and beverages. Great cross-country and snowshoeing trails 15 minutes away. Roads were clear of snow and ice, so no issues to get there. I will recommend this place.

  • This was our second stay at Peter’s place, because we loved it so much the first time. It is comfortable and charming. Impeccably clean. And delightfully cozy. We loved being able to relax in front of the wood stove. We enjoyed walks in nearby conservation land. And quiet privacy to read, relax, and decompress. This is hands-down one of my favorite places ever that I’ve stayed at.

  • Peter’s place was charming and comfortable. He was extremely helpful and responsive to our questions. We appreciated that he provided everything we needed for breakfast, including home made muffins. And my husband was very happy with the bed pillows (which is unusual). We recommend it highly.

  • If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, then this loft is for you! The locate is remote, so stargazing is amazing here. The fireplace and the comfy couch definitely made this loft super cozy. We loved the amenities, especially the wide assortment of delicious teas and coffee. Peter even provides a list of food options around and we loved one of his suggestions, the Old Creamery.
