  • Pam's place was wonderful! Her house and her rooms were pretty. She took us to the neareat bus stop in the morning and picked us up in the evening. What is more, she helped us book the nearest pub and the taxi for the last day. Our travel to Costwolds becomes memorable with this airbnb stay!

  • Hollyhock House is a beautiful country retreat. It is easy to find and Heidi was able to show us around the house at check in. Each bedroom has towels and lovely touches such a shower gel/hot chocolate and biscuits. Charlbury Station is only about 10mins away and is direct to London. The bus also runs near to the house. The artic cabin is a lovely space to relax and toast marshmallows and the house is very well equipped. The only downside is there that are only two showers but it was manageable. Thanks for a great weekend - would recommend!

  • Simply a stunning place to stay, perfect for 16 people. Close to Blenheim Palace for walks and exploring Woodstock. Thoroughly recommend popping into Charlbury for Sunday lunch at the Bull Inn too. The pixie hut is exceptional and was a phenomenal surprise birthday bbq dinner for my guests. Truly couldn’t have been a more special weekend. Heidi is also a delight and couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating. Thank you for everything!

  • From start to finish Heidi was a pleasure to deal with, and the house is just incredible - we knew it would be nice but the photos don't really do it justice, it's an exquisite place. A wonderful, fun-filled weekend was had and we'd recommend the place to anyone.

A cosy Shepherd Hut, named Ronald, set in 60 acres of tranquil Cotswold countryside. Glamping at its finest with all the comforts of home in the great outdoors. Conveniently located 5 minutes drive from Moreton in Marsh, with direct train links to Oxford and London. Durhams Farm is home to over 30 much-loved horses and ponies. Horse riding experiences are available whilst you stay. The perfect location for couples, adventurers and equine enthusiasts.
Camping may not be at the top of everyone’s list during the winter months but Ronald is a very reasonable alternative. We’ve kitted him out with hot and cold running water, heating and electricity too, so you can relax and enjoy all of the comforts of home, in the great outdoors. Ronald has a comfy fitted double bed, with storage underneath and all of your bed linen and towels are provided. The kitchenette is stocked with crockery and cutlery, a kettle, an electric single hob, toaster, fridge and sink. There is private seating outside your hut with beautiful views surrounding. Great for stargazing and the sunsets at the farm are beautiful. During the winter months, radiators will be added to keep you warm. There is a heated shower room a short walk (25metres) from the Huts in a blue cabin. Here, guests have shared (max 4 guests at any one time) access to a shower, WC and sink. Ideal for couples, friends and solo travellers! We have two huts available at Durhams - great for group trips! Apologies, we do not accept bookings for young children (under 10) and/or pets. Wifi is not available in the Hut but can be accessed on the farm all day. Visit the riding school reception to connect your device.
Our Shepherd Hut is set in a stunning part of the Cotswolds within easy reach of picturesque towns such as Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold. Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham and Warwick are both within a 40 minute drive. There are miles of bridleways and footpaths to explore in the surrounding area and some great local pubs and restaurants. Daylesford Organic is 3 miles away too and well worth a visit whilst you stay.
  • Something different! We had a really special time and I was surprised at all the amenities that could fit into a small place but still look stylish and minimalistic

    Georgie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner stayed in “Ronald” and I can’t recommend it enough! Parking was plentiful, check-in super easy, the amenities were clean and everyone around the site was very friendly. It was a little muddy on the yard so take wellies in rainy weather, but the hut itself is very cosy, warm and safe, and had lots of thoughtful touches such as blankets, hot water bottles and even little games to play when we were indoors. We got to wake up to stunning views over countryside and of Chastleton house, and the farm has plenty of animals to see! Really enjoyable couple of days, thank you 😊

    Rachel2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin for a weekend's writing!

    Mark2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay, as described completely, was lovely and warm when we got there. Little touches such as tea bags which we forgot, thanks for having us! Take wellies!

    Caroline2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Ronald. The hut was so well equipped. Really clean and in such a pretty location! Highly reccommend!

    Naomi2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ronald was just what I needed for a quiet weekend in the countryside! Sparkling clean, quiet and a lovely little haven. Can’t recommend enough.

    Catherine2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Small and cosy hut in a field next to a farm and riding centre. It is winter and I went with my toddler but it was so warm. Little portable stove, fridge, kettle and toaster were great to cook on. We arrived at night and woke up in the morning to pretty view of fields and the sound of ducks, chickens and guinea fowl running around. Lots of outside space to play though it was too wet when we were there. Best thing for us was popping into the horse riding centre 30m away and having a couple of little rides for my kid (additional cost) The guys were brilliant and it was lots of fun. I’d definitely come again! Bathroom is in the horse riding centre but v clean and private for the 2 huts. Take a torch and wellies!!

We also loved the local pub, The Chequers, which was only a few minuets walk away. Salee’s place was also clean and good value for money. Highly recommend!

Charlbury is that rare thing - an unspoilt Cotswold town. Off the beaten track, yet easy to reach; sought after, but down to earth too. Sequestered down winding B roads, Charlbury nestles on the Oxfordshire edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A town centre in characteristic local stone is joined by an attractive tangle of more modern developments, attractively perched on the side of the Evenlode valley. There's always something going in Charlbury, as the crowded noticeboards demonstrate. Talks in the Corner House, live music at the Shed and the Rose & Crown, guided walks, bustling churches, summer festivals, cricket and Morris teams - and that’s just to scratch the surface. The charming Brunel station has direct trains to Oxford and London; the shops include a well-stocked and perpetually busy Co-op supermarket. Come for the weekend, and prepare to be enchanted by our friendly little town.
  • This place is close to lots of good things in Charlbury. The hosts were kind and accommodating. And the Airbnb itself was absolutely amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

  • Our stay at Helena’s was very nice. The location is great and the house was very comfortable. We had everything we needed. The washer/dryer was a bonus.

  • Lovely annex in a beautiful garden with great amenities - perfect for a weekend away in the countryside. Helena is a great host.

  • The accommodation looks good in the pictures and did not disappoint. Lovely and warm when we arrived, very comfortable and well equipped. Charlebury itself is wonderful, excellent local pubs and walks.

  • Lovely spot and great for walking!

    Lisa2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The chalet is very cosy and stylish and has all you need together with a great location. Only a few minutes walk to 4 pubs and the local deli shop is lovely, and Blenheim Palace is a must. It was a clean and toddler safe space, it was just a shame it was wet so we couldn't make use of the decking. Helena and her husband were friendly and response and had a travel cot and highchair ready for our little one. We would happily return and spend maybe a week there in warmer weather.

    Diane2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was the perfect base for our trip. The location was ideal, just steps from the main village crossroads with the local deli, shops and pubs, but the cottage was also cosy and welcoming so we didn't feel we had to be out all the time, and were able to use the kitchen to make meals and to relax on the sofas. We were impressed by the homey touches like fresh flowers and vintage posters. The long horizontal layout made it feel really spacious. Communication was speedy and easy, as were check in and out. We'd definitely recommend Helena's place and would return to explore more of the Cotswolds.

    Marina2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful cottage! The place is sparkly clean and nicely equipped, we enjoyed our stay very much. Helena and Martin was really helpful with setting up the pack N play and high chair for our toddler. Highly recommended !

A stunning room with a curved wall, in a Cotswold cottage in the heart of gorgeous Charlbury. The room has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom and has space for a mattress or cot. Great walking and cycling, good pubs both for beer and food, near Oxford & Blenheim Palace, Woodstock. Visitors welcome to use the kitchen and living room, shared with the family. We have a dog and run a sourdough bakery, where the bread is fermented slowly and cooked in a wood fired oven.
Charlbury is a medieval Cotswold town, with narrow winding streets, stunning views and beautiful stone cottages. The room has a curved wall looking out over a wonderful view of the garden. From the terrace you can see across to the church, with swifts soaring.
We are in the heart of Charlbury, a medieval Cotswold town. There are 5 or more churches, 4 pubs with good beer and good food, a deli and a small cooperative supermarket. Good walks and cycling in the area as well as many other beautiful Cotswold villages - including Burford and Woodstock (Blenheim Palace). It is also handy for Oxford, which is just 15 minutes away by train.
  • Slept like a log; really comfy bed. Nice and clean and great decor. Helpful, friendly host.

  • I stayed here a night for my friend's wedding and it was the perfect cosy space, and very peaceful. Daniela is a great host. Would definitely stay again if visiting Charlbury.

  • One of the best stays. Warm, clean, quiet, cozy loft, got everything we needed. The host is very friendly and helpful.

    Atmo2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy loft tucked away in the middle of town. Clean and tidy, fruit and milk provided, has everything you need for a short stay. It was Wednesday night so we could hear the local church bell ringers practise!

    Marjaana2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy little loft room. Very private, as it's above the car port of the main house with a separate entrance. I stayed on a cold weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find the heating already on when I arrived in the evening so it was toasty when I went to bed. Could be hard to find for some guests, but hosts gave an excellent description of how to find it. Hosts were very communicative and responsive.

    Ursula2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was great. A cozy, clean place which we really enjoyed. They turned up the heat for us because we traveled with infant. Definitely recommend!

    Tam2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Annabel and Daniela's place is great. We needed a quiet night away and this was perfect, as it is really in the centre of the village, so you can walk to the pubs for dinner and drinks and there are good walks on your doorstep. The space is great because you have the place to yourself, and it is really cosy as a loft but well thought-out with the ensuite shower and small amenities you might need, such as a kettle and toiletries.

A cosy, recently converted garage in private garden perfect for couples. In the heart of the Cotswolds, this independent space offers a warm and individual interior for guests looking to get away.
The Den is set back from the road and has a small outdoor patio space set aside to the guests private use. There is off-street parking and in the summer, a nice back garden to enjoy.
Charlbury has lots of local amenities including a co-op which is open until 11 pm every day. There are 4 pubs in the town and lots of fantastic pubs in the immediate countryside. We can suggest great walks and local attractions.
  • We had a lovely stay at The Den, it’s a cosy stylish space with everything you might need for a short break. The comfy bed, flowers, fresh fruit, coffee & bread were highlights. We loved eating at the nearby Chequers pub & it was easy to get to Oxford for the day via train. Many thanks Susie!

    Laura2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic host and a great little space. All this made sure that even though the weather was atrocious we still had a fantastic stay. Kudos to Susie, I'm certain we will be back!

  • A superb little bolt hole in a great little town. Very tastefully decorated, sparkling clean and wonderfully comfy bed. There are a few great pubs in walking distance and the Den is in a great location to explore the Cotswolds. Although set on the edge of a small Cotswold town, it’s a very peaceful location, no noise from any roads and with plenty of privacy. Susie was a superb host and always available if we needed any help.

    Will2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! The room is beautiful! Bigger than the photos look. Suitably equipped kitchen, with milk, butter, jams, bread & fruit provided. Comfortable bed. Place is warmer than expected (with the help of additional heater), as very well insulated. Provision of maps and walking books. We LOVED the decor and design touches. Overall, very pleasantly surprised and would recommend to others. FYI there is more than enough room (and chairs!) to sit and eat together, or play games. Thank you Susie for creating such a lovely space to stay.

    Sophie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend Susie’s place for homeliness, cleanliness and central to town. We had treats waiting for us on arrival and lovely touches.

  • A lovely private space with lots of extra helpful touches. We really enjoyed our stay! Susie was great and helped us out with advice on pubs and things to do in the local area.

  • You can feel totally relaxed in this beautiful and very comfortable place. Having a pint of milk in the fridge and a loaf of bread when we arrived made us feel at home at once.

    Ben2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We chose this accommodation because it offered a king sized bed, off road parking and was walkable to Charlbury train station. As well as being quiet and comfortable, the Den was larger than I had expected. Susie also left a good continental breakfast

  • Our stay at Eileen's was superb. She is an exceptional host who is kind and generous. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in her lovely, comfortable home. We would jump at the chance to stay at Eileen's again and highly recommend her place to others.

  • We had such a nice time at Eileen’s home. We booked for one night, to enjoy some countryside fresh air. Eileen is a 5-star host, welcoming us into her home, and trusting us to treat it as ours for our quick time in it. Sparkling clean, and we slept so well. In the morning, Eileen had prepared us an incredible breakfast, on the outside glassed porch, to enjoy the sunrise, the views on the fields and on the birds feeding -truly lovely-. Eileen was an extraordinary host, helped us look into the maps for walks, gave us great tips, and was such a delight to discuss with. Cannot recommend enough. Thanks again for your warmth and hospitality ! Charlotte & Jules

  • Eileen is an exceptional host. She couldn't be more welcoming and attentive to guests. Charlbury is a charming village with great access to Oxford and the surrounding countryside, we enjoyed watching foxes run around in the field whilst eating a delicious English breakfast cooked by Eileen. The room is also very comfortable with a king size bed and a private bathroom for guests just across the hall.

    Jack2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Eileen is the most incredible host you can find out there. She is located in a very nice area, and Charlbury is a quite beautiful town nestled in the English countryside. The room is cozy with a lovely bed and great decor. I would absolutely suggest getting the English breakfast for a few extra pounds. You can enjoy this brilliant breakfast on a porch overlooking the picturesque countryside behind her estate. In addition Eileen has a wonderful knowledge of the town as well as nearby towns including Oxford. If you have any questions or concerns about traveling about or attending events she is the person to ask. I strongly recommend to anyone traveling through the area!

  • Great place, host and breakfast!

    Giwrgos2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Eileen is definitely a perfect host! She gave us useful tips and advices on our visit to cotswolds. Her house is cosy and comfortable with a wonderful countryside view, where we can enjoy very delicious full English breakfast cooked by Eileen personally. Meanwhile, Eileen and her husband John are very generous to share their views on English cultures. We did enjoy our stay with them. All in all, it’s not only a B&B, but a home. We will miss Eileen and hope we will have more days to stay next time.

Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s. Being a relatively small town, it comes as a surprise to many to find a theatre in Chipping Norton. The team put on an array of productions including theatre, music, comedy and the annual pantomime. As well as live performances, the theatre also screens a range of classic, art house and foreign language films. Food & Drink As one of the main market towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton has a wide variety of places to eat and drink, catering for most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample, to give a flavour for the various options available: Wild Thyme Restaurant (www.wildthymerestaurant.co.uk): Offering exciting modern British food and relaxed friendly service, complemented by three stylish rooms, this is a special place to enjoy great food and wine with family and friends. The Chequers (www.chequers-pub.com): The Chequers was built in medieval times at the entrance to the market place and is thought to date back to the late 1500s as a pub, when it was identified by a sign of a blue anchor outside. The main bar is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of yesteryear is recalled. A blazing log fire in the winter creates a cosy atmosphere. There is also a separate restaurant area. Whistlers Café Bar & Restaurant (www.whistlersrestaurant.co.uk): The owners of Whistlers are passionate about food and passionate about entertaining. Open during the day as well as for evening meals, Whistlers has a range of breakfasts, through to lighter snacks and lunchtime treats, as well as a great range of hot drinks and cakes to help you while away the hours. Café Le Raj (www.cafeleraj.net): A contemporary Indian restaurant, where top quality ingredients and fragrant herbs and spices are used to create sumptuous dishes. Chipping Norton also has many food shops, ranging from small, family run places, to a Co-op and a Sainsbury's.

  • Garden Cottage is charming, pristine clean and has everything necessary for a comfortable home from home stay. The cottage was cosy, warm and welcoming and I loved the wood burner. Communication with Alison was immediate and she contacted me shortly after my arrival to make sure that all was well. Using the lockbox was straightforward. I didn’t have any difficulty finding a space in the residents car park. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

  • All your home comforts, set in a very chic barn conversion, makes for a delightful countryside getaway. Tom (the owner who lives in the main house across the way) was very welcoming, and very knowledgable about the local area. The downstairs is a particularly lovely space, with a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and a very comfortable living room with doors that open onto a great outdoor patio and garden. If we had had a little more sun across the weekend we definitely would have given the BBQ a go! The large bedrooms are complimented by en suite bathrooms, both of which have been done to a very high standard. We will definitely be back!

Voted "England's Favourite Village" in 2004 by Country Life magazine, Kingham is a beautiful, unspoilt Cotswold village, with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages, mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is situated in the Evenlode valley, a short drive from the well known Cotswold market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton. There has been a church on the site of St. Andrew's Church for at least 900 years, although the present building is a mixture of ages. The font is 13th century, the Perpendicular Gothic tower 15th century, the nave roof is dated 1774 and the rest of the church was remodelled in 1851-3. The church also has a fine old rectory, built in the 17th century. Kingham has two highly regarded pubs, a village shop and is just a mile away from Daylesford Organic, which is well known for its organic food, cookery school and spa. Kingham is also the only village in the Cotswolds that is served by a main line railway station, which provides regular services to London Paddington station. Food & Drink Kingham is fortunate to be blessed with two of the best village pubs in the whole of the Cotswolds, as well as a welcoming hotel, and is just a mile away from the well known Daylesford Organic Farm: The Wild Rabbit (www.thewildrabbit.co.uk): Owned by Lord and Lady Bamford, and described as "the poshest pub in Britain", the Wild Rabbit has been totally refurbished and boasts a total of three real fires in its dining room and separate bar. The menu reflects the seasons and celebrates everything that is great about local produce. All ingredients are carefully selected for their quality and are organic, where possible; The Kingham Plough (www.thekinghamplough.co.uk): The Kingham Plough has established a well deserved reputation as an outstanding dining pub and has deservedly been recognised by numerous awards bestowed by various different bodies. The modern British food is inspirational, not your ordinary Gastro-Pub menu, where everything is prepared from scratch by a team of skilled chefs. Headed by chef-owner Emily Watkins and head chef Ben Dulley, the menu offers an exciting take on English classics. The kitchen is dedicated to making the most of the carefully sourced local ingredients and everything from the charcuterie to the baked beans in the award winning breakfast is proudly made by hand. Kingham also has a village store, selling a wide range of everyday products, including fresh items, beers, wines and spirits, groceries and confectionery. There are regular farmers' markets held in the village, throughout the year.
  • A relaxing setting in a beautful part of the Cotswolds. The living space is comfortable and makes relaxing very easy, the beds are also very comfortable and the propery is very clean. Two pubs within walking distance, we visited both and had great food in both.

  • Cute little cottage! Overall very clean throughout. The bath is a good size, and a lovely place to unwind after an afternoon walking. The heating works well, and the area is very quiet. The fire is wonderful, although you'll need kindling, which you can get at the local petrol station. The host doesn't provide any.

  • We had an amazing stay at the Smithy! The location was excellent, a stone's throw away from some lovely pubs and a little high street. The house was beautiful and had everything you could think of including some handy bits of food for cooking ! Also we had lots of info provided regarding parking, check in check out etc. So everything was super clear and they replied to any questions really quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone!!

    Anaïs2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I loved our stay at the Smithy. Both the town and the home were adorable! The hosts were responsive and the home clean and inviting when we arrived.

  • Gorgeous cosy cottage, great location

    Caroline2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Smithy was the perfect cottage for us - a lovely, welcoming place to stay, spotless and with everything you needed to hand. It was in a great location for easily walking to the shops and pubs of Chipping Norton, but also well located for beautiful walks into the Cotswolds countryside.

    Nick2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, perfect location. Charming walks from our doorstep. Sweet thoughtful touches like fresh flowers. Couldn't speak higher of it.

    Katherine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in this lovely house in the centre of Chipping Norton. It had great extra touches such as fresh milk being provided for us so we could have a cup of tea on arrival. There was a coffee machine and plenty of tea facilities provided. Local facilities were good with a nice pub just a short walk up the road and there is also a Sainsbury’s within a short walking distance. The house has WiFi available and a smart TV. There was a main bathroom upstairs with a bath and good overhead shower, plus the downstairs toilet. Dependent on arrival times (we arrived on the Friday evening when the locals pubs and restaurants were busy), you may need to drive around for a while looking for a suitable parking spot as there are no dedicated parking options for the house. However if you avoid arriving at peak times there should be plenty of nearby parking available. A great stay in a lovely village and would definitely return!

The Cotswolds is the largest area of natural outstanding beauty (AONB) in England and Wales, with Browns Cottage right on the cusp of West Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, to fall in love with both. Often a source of inspiration for writers and artists alike, from JRR Tolkien and Laurie Lee to JM Barrie, William Morris and WH Davies who wrote the immortal lines inspired by this very place : “What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare?"
Browns Cottage has been lovingly restored back to its original 17th century character, complete with oak doors, inglenook fireplace, internal stone walls and exposed beams. The decor is imbued with an artist's eye in the subtlest of warm, neutral shades, complimenting gorgeous stone with layer upon layer of textures from pale linen, tweeds and natural wood throughout. When you walk in through the front door, you will encounter a stunning, opened up cottage full of light and warmth, fitted with all the modern amenities you could possibly want to give you the best of both worlds. Browns Cottage is in the lively, pretty market town of Charlbury, which is nestled in the Evenlode Valley, designated a national area of natural, outstanding beauty. Although just over an hour away from London by train and bordering both Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, this part is considered to be the 'undiscovered Cotswolds' where you will find a world of tranquillity together with a treasure load of things to see and do.
ABOUT THE LOCATION In the heart of 'undiscovered Cotswolds', stretching through Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, you have both of these delightful worlds to explore with so much to see and do at Browns Cottage in Charlbury. Charlbury, is a small market town snuggled in the Evenlode Valley with the bustling market towns of Woodstock, Chipping Norton and Witney near by. Although a peaceful haven, Charlbury Station means it's just over an hour by train from London and easily accessible by road.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Kate’s property, it’s very close to Chipping Norton which is a lovely town to stroll around with great restaurants! We also had nice trips to Oxford, Bourton on the water and a walk around the Cotswolds wildlife park. The studio itself is really well equipped for a weekend away and is very quiet and private, a perfect weekend!

    Sarah2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy, quiet and private, we loved the wood fire especially. Kate and Jon were great hosts.

    Kate2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little place to stay and the bedroom is separate to the living space which is nice. Amazing shower and lovely bathroom, very clean. We went with our 2 dogs and it’s nice that you can let them out and there is a fence so they are enclosed in their own little garden. We didn’t t really venture out but collected a takeaway from nearby Chipping Norton which was lovely. There is no cooker but there is a microwave and toaster. The wifi was not working which the owner apologised for and it is in the process of being upgraded. A lovely cosy little Space which I wish was my holiday home lol.

  • Great little spot for a relaxing stay

    Lucy2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfectly brilliant little spot in the country near the Cotswolds. Fantastically cozy and clean, absolutely charming people, wonderful location. Kate and John are outstanding hosts, and the cottage itself enough to make you want to live there. Old church and fantastic cemetery a few yards away, and a very old Inn for supper if you can make the drive a few miles down the road. We got very lucky with a massive October Hunter's Moon over the fields, but I will unhesitatingly recommend this spot regardless of time of year or weather.

    Kray2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed staying here. It was a lovely space which was looked after very well. It was spotless in terms of cleanliness and the log burner gave it a real homely feel. Kate was super accommodating of us and our dog which is rare to find but makes it great for us. Not usually one to comment on bathrooms but the shower was outstanding, could have been there for days!

Bed and light breakfast in the centre of a quiet Cotswold town only a short walk from the railway station (Oxford 15 mins) and local facilities. Two double, adjoining, well-appointed first-floor rooms with private landing area. Parking, if needed, in our drive.
We had Lower Watts House designed and built twenty years ago and it has lived up to its expectations – the clue is in the name - using a fraction of the energy of a comparable building. The layout of the large house naturally lends itself to separately accommodating four guests in two double first-floor rooms with a private landing seating area. Please be aware that there are no cooking facilities (guests usually walk up to eat at one of two local inns). Secure bicycle stabling is available.
Charlbury is a beautiful quiet Cotswold town with access to beautiful scenery, but with easy access to Oxford and London. It is perfect base for exploring the area, Blenheim Palace is on our doorstep and Stratford upon Avon is a short drive or train ride away.
  • Very comfortable and homey. Nice thoughtful touches and very clean. Stephen was a very helpful host and prepared a nice continental breakfast for us. The location is great, definitely visit the Bull Inn. Love the Cotswolds!

  • Stephen is a superb host. He met us at the door, showed us to our rooms and gave lots of helpful information to ensure we had an enjoyable weekend stay. He puts on a fantastic breakfast, is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area (walks and sights) and was always polite and friendly. The bedrooms, bathroom and living space is clean, spacious and comfortable. Thoughtful touches from Stephen made this stay extra special: coffee and tea in the rooms, board games, and wellies to go on a walk! We would highly recommend this space for anyone wanting a brilliant and relaxing weekend away.

Welcome to Causeway Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Causeway Cottage is a delightful Grade II listed property which sleeps six guests, in three well presented bedrooms, with two bathrooms. Dating back to the mid-17th century, the property has an abundance of character features including exposed wooden beams, a stone mullion window, terracotta tiling in the kitchen and two inglenook fireplaces, one of which has a wood burning stove. To complement these traditional features, the property has been finished in a contemporary style with the addition of modern facilities such as wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. Built from original Cotswold stone, Causeway Cottage has a beautiful exterior to match its interior, with a wonderful wisteria trailing across the porch and living room windows, and dormer windows on the first floor which offer lovely views across the garden. The enchanting garden is an excellent spot to socialise with friends and family in the warmer months and there is off-street parking for up to three cars on the gravel driveway. Causeway Cottage is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Old Minster Lovell, an unspoilt village with a mixture of attractive thatched and Cotswold stone cottages. The village benefits from a well-regarded pub, the Old Swan, which prides itself on its use of local ingredients, and the 12th century parish church of St Kenelm is just a short walk away from the cottage. Alongside the church lie the extensive ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a former 15th century manor house which is now a Grade 1 listed building maintained by English Heritage. Old Minster Lovell is also home to Minster Mill, a luxury hotel with a spa and restaurant which members of the public can utilise by appointment only. The larger residential settlement of New Minster is just a ten minute walk away, with another popular pub and a local shop. Located within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many local walks and cycle trails to explore, including those along the River Windrush which flows through the village itself. Old Minster Lovell is well placed for visiting many of the charming towns and villages of the Cotswolds including the medieval market town of Burford with its wide range of eateries, and the scenic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds” due to the many arching bridges which cross over the River Windrush. The popular tourist destinations of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, Cirencester and Oxford are within easy reach for day trips. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
The front door opens into an entrance hall with hooks for hanging coats and a boot rack for muddy wellies. The following rooms are located on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This bright, dual aspect room is a warm and inviting space and has a wealth of character features including exposed wooden beams and original wooden flooring. This spacious room contains an inglenook fireplace with cosy wood burning stove, a three-seater sofa and two leather armchairs. There is also a wall-mounted Smart TV with DVD player, a small selection of books and board games, an ornamental inglenook fireplace and a wooden dining table which comfortably seats six; Snug: Adjacent to the dining area is the cosy snug, a peaceful spot offering wonderful garden views through the beautiful stone mullion window. This area contains a comfy leather armchair; Kitchen: The well presented country-style kitchen has striking exposed beams and terracotta tiles and is ideal for home cooking. It contains an electric Aga (available in the winter months only), an electric oven with four-ring induction hob, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, cafetière, kettle and toaster. There is also a large larder and a wooden breakfast table with seating for six; Utility room/cloakroom: Contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, toilet and wash basin. A spiral staircase with a handrail leads up from the inner hall between the dining area and kitchen to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: Overlooking the garden and country pub opposite, this spacious dual aspect bedroom contains a super king size bed, chest of drawers, two bedside tables for storage and wall hooks for hanging space. There is a bright, contemporary ensuite bathroom which contains a bath with overhead rain shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail; Bedroom 2: With exposed wooden beams and views across to the village pub, this tastefully decorated bedroom contains a king size bed, chest of drawers, coat stand and hooks for storage, as well as a wall mirror and a pretty window seat and wooden chair; Bedroom 3: Overlooking the street below, this cosy bedroom contains two single beds, a chest of drawers, coat stand and small selection of books; Family bathroom: The spacious family bathroom contains a large walk-in rain shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. The stunning south facing garden spans a third of an acre and is mostly laid to lawn with a variety of mature trees along its border, giving privacy from the village playing field beyond. Directly outside the kitchen there is a paved patio area with an outdoor table with seating for six, as well as two comfy chairs looking out over the lawn. The patio is bordered by a low dry-stone wall, which itself is bordered by fragrant lavender, and in the late spring the gorgeous wisteria and climbing flowers add splashes of colour to the Cotswold stone exterior. A second patio can be found beneath the mature trees at the side of the garden and this area contains a charcoal barbecue and two sun loungers. Just off the driveway is a double garage which houses a large table tennis table and croquet set. The gravel driveway has off-street parking for up to three cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

  • Small cottage in a quiet location, the cottage was precisely as described. We knew to expect only one bathroom. A short walk to central Chipping Norton communication was great.

  • A great cottage in a perfect location near the centre of Chipping Norton. The cottage has been renovated to a high spec, with really good facilities, great little kitchen, good bathroom and even a useful utility room. The rooms are all a good size, and the beds comfy! If over 6 foot, You will need to watch your head when going into the bathroom and bedrooms, and the stairs are a little awkward to come down as the beams are quite low at the bottom. There are great finishing touches throughout which are really lovely to see and made our stay really enjoyable. It's just a short walk to the Theatre and lots of pubs/restaurants and take-aways. We had no trouble parking outside each night, but you do get a permit to park in the premier inn car park which we didn't ever need to use.

Situated in a quiet location in the village of Stonesfield, Little Chestnut Cottage is a great base from which to visit Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxford and explore the Cotswolds. Stratford is less than an hour away if you want to go a little further afield. The village is just over an hour away from London yet surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are plenty of walks straight from the door across the picturesque Evenlode valley.
Little Chestnut Cottage is completely self-contained and is just across the driveway from our own cottage. It dates back to the early nineteenth century and was built as an outbuilding for animals and grain but has now been converted to provide a lovely place to stay for visitors to this area. Downstairs is a comfortable bedroom, spacious bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs is an open plan sitting and dining area with the original wide floorboards and oak beams.
Stonesfield is located in beautiful west Oxfordshire on the edge of the Cotswolds. The village is completely surrounded by countryside and is very close to Blenheim Palace (3 miles). It has a good pub The White Horse which is open Wednesday to Sunday (www.whitehorsestonesfield.com) and a convenience store with a post office. The market towns of Woodstock, Witney and Chipping Norton are all less than 20 minutes drive away. Little Chestnut Cottage is in the oldest part of the village and a short walk to the river Evenlode. There are lovely walks in the local woods and North Leigh roman villa is about 20 minutes walk away. The Oxfordshire Way runs through the village and longer walks into the grounds of Blenheim Palace are straight forward by following this footpath.
  • We had such a lovely stay in Theresa’s cottage. It is so homely and warm whilst also having modern amenities. It benefits from a great shower, excellent heating, dishwasher, big TV, comfy bed but also has the wooden beams and traditional features throughout. Great location for visiting oxford, Blenheim and surrounding villages. We had a great meal one evening in Woodstock which is very close by. We stayed for 2 nights but could happily have stayed for more. Theresa was a great host, very friendly and had left eggs, bread, milk, freshly squeezed orange juice and even some fruit for us which was a lovely touch. We highly recommend and will definitely look to stay again on our next visit.

  • Really lovely little place for a quick get away. The home was extremely clean, perfect size for just me. It was really private even though the house is next door to the little annex && I loved how fresh the bed and towels smelt! Thank you for my little stay, if I ever come back up that way, I would definitely stay again!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Andrea’s place! It felt so cosy and is decorated beautifully with lots of thoughtful touches. Everywhere was immaculate and it felt like a home away from home! Andrea’s place is located in beautiful spot only a short drive away from the centre of Oxford which was so convenient for us. The check in process was so nice and easy and communication was great too - we would definitely love to stay again! Thank you!

    Zoe2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A great Airbnb find - private, cosy and very well equipped with all you could need. Thanks to Andrea and her husband who are fabulous hosts.

    Kelly2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Oak View was the perfect place for my weekend ‘retreat’! I met Andrea at the beginning so I knew she was available if I needed anything but the apartment had everything I wanted for a get-away-from-it-all couple of days. A wonderfully comfy sofa to curl up on and read, the peaceful bedroom for a good night’s sleep and those gorgeous dining chairs to sit on and write to my heart’s content. I’d love to know where to get some of those chairs from! There was plenty of privacy as the only thing you could see through the windows was sky, but those same roof windows let in loads of light, enough for me to even attempt some drawing during my stay. One final thing I particularly liked was the number of electrical sockets. I could plug things in wherever I wanted to be.

  • If you're considering booking The Old Smithy, don't hesitate! It's full of charm and old-world character with all the modern touches you could need. The shower is fantastic and the log burner works a treat creating a wonderful cosy atmosphere! Kingham itself is the quintessential Cotswolds village benefitting from two amazing pubs...we can highly recommend both; we frequented both for dinner and The Kingham Plough does a fantastic breakfast and is only two minutes walk away! If you do decide to stay in the area we can also highly recommend Dalesford Farm, we found a reason to drop in every day of our stay...either for tea and cake, picking up some fantastic food or for breakfast on our last day before setting off home. We can't wait to return soon!!

    Gilly2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Smithy is small but perfectly formed and has everything you need. We had stayed a few times in this area and it is definitely one of the best. Very clean and well presented. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend - in fact we have already done so!

Welcome to my lovely Cotswolds cottage. I recently refurbished it, keeping the original beams and stone walls and adding gorgeous bathrooms and a cosy wood burning stove. There's a private patio and small lawn. It sleeps 8 in very comfortable beds. With easy access to Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Soho Farmhouse, Daylesford and the rest of the Cotswolds, the house is perfect for families, friends and sightseers. You can walk to 3 pubs, train, bus, deli, Co-op... Toys, books and games for children!
**About the house My house is a pretty, stone cottage (built around 1900). It's in a terraced row of similar stone cottages. It has three floors/levels. The living space is perfect for entertaining groups or families. It's large and open plan (have a look at the floor plan), with a lovely cosy wood burning stove, large oak table with seating and two large sofas. From the house it's also less than 5 minutes' walk to: - the 3 local pubs, including the lovely Bull Inn, which is a great place to eat dinner, go for a drink, take children, have an early breakfast... - Charlbury train station (trains to Oxford and London one way, and Malvern, and Worcester the other) - the bus stop, with buses to Woodstock/Blenheim/Oxford...the lovely Charlbury Deli (cafe) - the Co-op grocery store, which is open 7am-10pm, 7 days a week - a fantastic play park for kids, which is part of the new public library (including children's section) and which also has a lovely cafe inside and an outside patio with picnic tables - the pharmacy (drug store) By car, it's a 15-minute drive to Blenheim Palace, Witney, Soho Farmhouse/ Daylesford/ Woodstock/ Blenheim Palace... Upstairs you'll find: - 3 double bedrooms (2 are superking beds, i.e. 6 ft (183cm) wide zip-and-link, and the third is a smallish double bed (4 ft 6"). - a fourth cosy little bedroom with brand new bunk beds. These are full-width (90cm x 190cm) single bunk beds with comfortable, firm-ish mattresses, and so are suitable for children (top bunk says 'over 6 years old' for safety) - bathroom 1 is ensuite and has a big double-ended bath with microphone shower head (for hair washing while sitting in the bath!), basin, WC and underfloor heating (porcelain floor). - bathroom 2 has a large walk in shower, basin, WC and underfloor heating (porcelain floor). - bathroom 3 is a WC on the ground floor. - there is a 4th WC through the garden if you are outside and don't want to come into the house. *For children: - one pop-up travel cot (crib) with thick foam mattress and protector and fitted sheet (please bring your own top bedding) - high chair, toddler chair, books, toys, toy kitchen, guitars, a basket of musical instruments, farm animals, dressing up clothes ** Have a look at the floor plan but here is a more detailed summary of the house layout: Ground floor: - Living room: very large open plan living/eating area with 7 foot table, 8 foot old oak church pew and modern white chairs, wood burning stove, TV (with Freeview, Netflix, Apple TV so you can plug in your own devices), piano (clavinova) and guitar which you are welcome to use. (The piano has a MIDI keyboard if you have a laptop and are a composer/producer... ) - Kitchen: fully equipped adult kitchen with gas-powered always-on Rayburn oven, extra halogen hob just in case, electric oven/microwave, Quooker kitchen tap (which gives boiling water and tasty, filtered drinking water), cafetiere for making coffee, dishwasher, four-slice toaster, under counter fridge with mini freezer… (there is also a big fridge freezer in the utility room outside). There is a little table in the kitchen where 2/3 people can sit and keep the cook company, or children can eat breakfast, but big groups will want to to eat at the big dining table just outside the kitchen, inside the open plan living area. - Utility room: outside, accessed from the patio, is a separate utility room with large fridge freezer, washing machine, separate tumble dryer and WC. Useful if you are in the garden and don't want to walk inside to go to the loo! - Private patio: with large table and 8 chairs, with steps a small, private lawn, and jasmine... NB There are steps fro the patio up to the garden (lawn) so small children under age 3 need to be supervised outside or you can just put a chair to block the staircase... ** Middle (first) floor: - Bedroom 2 - with super king zip and link bed, which can be 2 single beds for longer stays, with extremely comfortable pocket sprung mattress, foam mattress topper, white cotton linen and fresh white towels. Wardrobe and chest of drawers. The crib/cot can be set up here or in the top room. Pretty view onto the road and lane opposite. Black out Roman blind for long lie-ins... Welcome to set up the travel cot here or in any of the bedrooms. - Bedroom 3 – double bed, cupboard with shelves, clothes rail, children's' books, lamp, night lights. Looks out onto the garden. The window blind is pretty dark but not total blackout. - Bedroom 4 - bunk beds of the comfortable, wide variety (90cm x 190cm)! To sleep 2 children (age 6+ in the top bunk). Plus a load of children's books, board games and puzzles... - Bathroom 1 – with brand new walk-in shower (rain head and also hand held shower head), basin and WC, underfloor heating under a porcelain tiled floor, on a timer. ** Top floor (loft conversion) - Bedroom 1 - with super king zip and link bed, clothes rail, two small chests of drawers which also serve as bedside tables, bedside reading lamps, suitcase stand, clothes rail, black out Roman blind for long lie-ins... - Ensuite bathroom with very large bath (with microphone shower head ideal for washing hair while sitting in the bath), basin and WC, underfloor heating under a porcelain tiled floor, on a timer. ** Summary of things for parents with small children: - High chair - Toddler seat (higher than a normal dining chair) - Plastic crockery and cutlery - Small blender for pureeing food - Night lights - Books, mostly age 2-8 - Toys: farmyard animals, musical instruments, board games, puzzles... - Board games and boxed games, age 4-10. - Blackout-lined blinds - Travel cot
Charlbury is a great base for a Cotswolds visit. It's quintessential Cotswolds... a pretty village to walk around, with its own green (the Playing Close) which holds farmers' markets, the play park and and community centre with library and cafe, the cricket field, St Mary's church (you will hear church bells ring on the hour), the 3 pubs... There is a lovely community-feel to Charlbury and it hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including the Riverside Festival, the Street Fair, the Beer Festival, Art Week... On a grander festival scale, the Wilderness Festival is walkable from Charlbury. It's a short drive to Alex James's Big Feastival and to the Cornbury Festival and other annual events in the Cotswolds festival/social calendar e.g. those at Blenheim Palace. You can get to Charlbury by direct train form London (Paddington) in just over an hour, and then walk to the house in 8 minutes - so it feels very accessible. Some people commute to London daily from here on the train.
  • FANTASTIC LOCATION AND ACCOMODATION. A GREAT WEEK. THANK YOU BELLA

  • Great place in great location. Worth a stay.

    Paul2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was great and as advertised. Bella's communications are first class and she is always on hand on the phone to deal with any issues. The beds (which let some venues down) were excellent. All in all great value and we had a great Christmas.

    Paul2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulously stylish and authentic cottage in stunning Charlbury. The cottage was spotlessly clean and cosy and is wonderfully located with so much choice of things to do and see. Bella was an extraordinary host, always available to support and offer advice. Thank you Bella.

    Sarah2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were with our two children (7 and 12 years old) and the grandparents in the super cozy house of Bella. We really enjoyed the week in the beautiful cottage. Bella is a great host and makes every effort to make her guests feel comfortable. We arrived very late in the evening so we were all looking forward to breakfast, coffee, marmalade, milk and the other things Bella had prepared for us. Many thanks for that !!! The beds were excellent for a good night's sleep. The best were the location (Oxford, London and the Cotswolds very accessible), the environment (beautiful nature for walks and hikes) and the charming town of Charlbury. We especially loved The Bull Inn and would definitely recommend it! Thanks for the great tip, Bella! We recommend Bella's Cottage.

  • Jasmine cottage is a very clean, stylish house. It is in a lovely village close to beautiful countryside. And really easy to get into Oxford on the train.

    Julie2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jasmine cottage is a tremendous place to stay and Bella a wonderful host - very good communication from booking 9 months prior to staying through to check-in. The cottage is charming, spacious and beds furnished to a super high standard - very cosy beds! Central in the village and easy to walk to the shops, local pubs and into Wilderness festival (the weekend we stayed). Detailed and comprehensive instructions available which answered any minor questions about appliances etc. This is a delightful place to stay for a group of friends or family. Thank you so much Bella!

    Lydia2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Bella's house is very comfortable. Check in is easy, the house was clean and tidy, the beds are comfortable. There is plenty of space and the rooms are all light and bright. There are shops and places to eat within walking distance and these were all detailed in the house information. We really enjoyed staying in the house.
